Amelia Sarah Basset

Nicknames: Auggie, Ami

Profession: Psychologist

Hobbies: horse riding and dressage, skiing, astrology.

As the eldest bridgerton grandchild it was almost inevitable that Amelia was going to end up as a therapist.

She was all her cousin's agony aunt when it came to issues in school and growing up. She’s got the patience of a saint…

As the eldest she was a little spoiled but she was never a brat (unless you ask Bel or Carrie)

She loved horses as a child and naturally was very good at riding them and it progressed into dressage and she even competed in the Olympics winning gold in the team event and bronze in her own individual.

She loved skiing, her first experience with it was with school and she fell in love with it and begged her parents to take them on holiday but as her mother wasn’t very outdoorsy she never went but loved the indoor slopes and her father would take her on weekends.

When she was 19 she went on her first holiday with her friends to St Moritz and went skiing and she goes back every year.

Her husband Robert Joliffe is Swiss and that’s where she met him. He is an Olympic Champion skier.

In secondary school she fell in love with astrology and started doing charts at school for fun and ended up doing them for each of her cousins and siblings…

She has a knack for knowing if a couples relationship is going to last, she was the only one not surprised when Thomas came back from Vegas married to his best friend…

The nickname Auggie came from nursery when there was another little girl called Amelia there but when the teachers were trying to decide what to do they mentioned their birth months and Amelia’s just kept saying Auggie over and over again and given her love for Astrology growing up it stuck.

Edward Simon Basset

Nicknames: Teddy, Ed

Profession: Ballet Dancer

Hobbies: musical theatre, dancing of any type, ice hockey, going to the gym, food nutrition

Teddy was quite a bit younger than the rest of his siblings being very much a surprise baby when his sisters were in their teens so sometimes he feels like an only child.

He always felt different in school, other than when he was in drama class and when the school did Billie Elliot and he was given the title role, it became clear to him where his future lay.

Dance and Theatre.

He begged his mother and father to let him go to Ballet to get into the part of Billie Elliot and he fell in love with it

Though he likes all dances, Ballet is favourite.

He loves musical theatre and loves going with his cousins Hermione and Daphne to the West End and seeing musicals.

When he joined the Royal Ballet school he became very into watching what he ate and going to the gym and set up an Instagram account where he became very popular for his videos with his boyfriend Victor and their workouts and meals along with their cute cats, Fred and Ginger.

Weirdly however, other than Ballet, Teddy was a big lover of Ice Hockey. He wanted something different to play, something that would stop people bullying him in school for being into musical theatre and drama and Ice Hockey seemed to be a fun sport and a little graceful as well.

He did a season of Disney on Ice after being begged by his nieces and nephews.

Caroline Agatha Basset

Nicknames: Carrie, Caz, Cazzie, CraZy Caz

Profession: tattoo artist

Hobbies: art, poetry, motorbikes, brewing her own beer and gin

Carrie is the Basset wild child… and the reason Simon started going grey he is sure of it.

She was sweet and placid as a child but after two weeks with her Uncle Ben honing her artistic skills and developing a love of poetry, her attitude on life changed and from wanting to be an artist, by the age of 15, she wanted to be a tattoo artist.

Simon thought she’d grow out of it because she’d wanted to be a F1 driver, a footballer and everything and her passions changed regularly other than her art…

She came from school covered in fake tattoos and that was it… she was hooked…

She started smoking at 15, piercings came and she cut her hair into a pixie cut in her room. Daphne screamed when she saw it.

But they were determined to support their daughter and helped with her apprentice and didn’t baulk or lecturer her on her choice.

She was 16 when she came out to her parents as Bisexual, Belinda had cheered and said Edmund and Amelia owed her money. Confused, Carrie asked her sister what for, Bel explained that they thought she was full lesbian and she was sure she was Bi. Carrie laughed and winked at her sister explaining life was too short to choose.

She opened her own Tattoo parlour at 21 and she has tattooed a lot of her family but her Uncle Ben was her first customer.

She got into brewing her own beer and gin after a joke gift from her uncle Mike of a brew your own beer kit and she made an amazing batch of home brew beer that knocked most of them out. It was so strong and from there her passion grew.

Her homemade sloe gin lead to an eventual New Year’s Eve and a very drunk Grandma Violet…

Mike was very Impressed and offered her a job if she ever got bored of tattooing.

She never learned to drive a car but does own several motorbikes.

Belinda Violet Basset

Nicknames: Bella, Bel, BVB (do not called Linda…)

Profession: Fashion Designer

Hobbies: Gymnastics, Sci-Fi movies, languages, fishing

Belinda is the daughter most like her mother and Simon is sure she got the Bridgerton charm… and temper.

She knocked a boy out in school when he called her Linda… Simon had never been prouder of his daughter.

She’s mad competitive and she loved gymnastics in school and could have gone on to compete at a National and international level but after someone tries to tell her what she could and couldn’t eat, she refused and quit on the spot.

She loved languages at school and learned French, Italian and Spanish which she became very good at and it helped propel her career.

She had a love for fashion from a young age something she shared with her mother but rather than wanting to follow the current she wanted to design her own which led to some questionable outfits as a teenager but she made her mark as she grew up.

She started her own brand out of University called BVB and she used Isabella and Janet as her models.

Her biggest moment was when Isabella and Janet demanded to be allowed to wear their cousin's attire for the Met Gala and then her brand really took off and the following year she was the biggest designer at the Gala.

When Vouge did an interview with her they asked her what her most random hobby was and when she replied “fishing” they thought she was joking but it was something she loved doing with her father and found peace with it.

Which given the size of her family… was something she needed every now and again.

David Edmund Basset

Nicknames: Davey, davey boy, big D.

Profession: mechanic

Hobbies: building and restoring antique cars, poker, football, collecting pokemon cards

For a long time David was the youngest of the Basset children with three older sisters he was very much looked after.

He has his fathers brains when it came to mathematics but as he found little joy in the subject he found other ways to use it and geometry helped him when he first looked at an engine in engineering in school and it quickly became his best subject.

He didn’t go into university but did an apprenticeship and learned how to fix and repair all sorts of machines.

Along with John Woodson, he opened his own garage and his cousins would occasionally come in and help with restoring cars they were working on. He eventually falls in love with John’s older sister Sophia and the two get married.

The first car he ever restored was a mustang for his father. It’s the one of the only times he ever saw his father cry.

As a kid he played football, mostly because his sisters hated it but much to his family's horror he’s an Arsenal fan and a season ticket holder.

His mathematical brain made him really good at poker and only Thomas was ever able to beat him. Thomas had invited him out to Vegas with him but he broke his leg the week before so had to decline.

He became obsessed with Pokémon cards as a kid seeing his uncle Greg’s collection and went on to start his own, which he keeps under lock and key so his uncle can’t steal his cards…
