3DS online shutting down.

It's supposed to shut down Monday, but it already is Monday in Australia and it hasn't closed down yet. I wonder if it'll shut down at the same time worldwide or if it's a set time for each region (e.g. 6pm in each timezone). Either way I'm using this opportunity to visit some recently updated castles in FE Fates for the last time.

I don't have too many specific memories in Fates though since the vast majority of my online use was for getting Seals or food/ore. There was a player whose Corrin was called DarthVader in his who seemed to update their Death Star castle non-stop - whenever I replayed the game they would always show up a few times in the Recently Updated section at least a couple of times.

I wish I could send out multiple of my save files' castles for people to check out but I can only send one at a time. I could've sent my all-Soleil one, my P5-themed one, my SMT4(A)-themed one or my Horse Emblem one but I chose my "Meme Builds" one which has:

Corrin with the Quixotic + Hoshidan Unity combo (+25% chance to trigger skills) with Dragon Fang, Aether and Luna.

Rhajat with Seal Str/Mag/Spd/Def/Res.

Effie with HP+5 and Def/Res/Spd/Skl+2.

Azama with no weapon, Counter and Countermagic (and HP+5, Renewal and Miracle as a bonus which all help this build a lot). If attacked by most weapons the attacker takes 1.5x damage. [This is my personal favourite]

Velouria with Poison Strike, Savage Blow, Grisly Wound and Toxic Brew. If she initiates the target takes 60% damage after combat and might get 0 movement.

Soleil with Tome/Bow/Axe/Shuriken/Swordbreaker.

Sakura with Charm/Demoiselle/Inspiration. Including her personal skill allies within 2 spaces take -6 damage and deal +6 damage if male, -4 and +4 respectively if female.

Kiragi with Quick Draw, Death Blow, Certain Blow, Darting Blow and Aggressor. He gets +11 damage, Crit+20, Hit+40 and Spd+5 when initiating combat.

Ophelia with Death Blow and Gamble using a Great Club. Combined with her personal skill this gives the weapon a 115% Crit chance. She also has Heartseeker to offset the low accuracy.

And Caeldori with Underdog, Duelist's Blow, Air Superiority, Lucky Seven and Awakening. If all of these are in effect she Avoid+125(!). Admittedly only 2 or 3 will probably be active at any given time.

NOTE: Genshin Impact is a gacha game where you can wish for characters on their banners whichever you like depending which version it is. You can kill mobs and get some useful items from them and play with other players within a server. Basically a RPG (role play game, i play this game also obviously by my cover photo and im a xiao main, skl). Anyways, enjoy <33

Its 11:30 in the morning and you are making lunch for you and your husband. Every after 2 days at this time, your husband will be streaming in his office while you cook lunch. After you cooked, you check out your husband if he's done so you guys can eat.

"Hey pudding, done with your stream? The food is cooked" you said after knocking on his door. "Uhmm, not yet pudding. But can you get some for us two? And then go inside. Thank you!" he said after muting his mic. You did what he said and served him the food you cooked. "Here is the food, enjoy" you were about to leave when he called you. "Hey pudding! Uhh i was wondering if you can stay here hehe" he said and who are you to say no to your adorable husband, "come on, sit here on my lap, watch me play while you feed me" you blushed after he said that and you sat on his lap.

"So chat... Here's my lovely wife, Y/n" he introduced you while you wave to the camera. You watch him play as you feed him and the chat is getting crazy because of the sweetness you guys are doing, some are saying you guys are very sweet, some say you guys look good and other compliments. You smiled and continued to watch your husband play and as a gamer also, you noticed that he's playing Genshin Impact and his main is Zhongli while yours is Tartaglia, a couple for the Genshin Impact community.

You continued to watch him play while laying your head on his shoulder, basically cuddling with him. You fell asleep on your position and the chats are saying 'Omg! Y/n is so cute while sleeping!' and stuff like that. Kenma noticed the chats and check on you if you are really sleeping. He saw your cute pout that you always do when you sleep and Kenma's heart melted and he smiled. "Hey guys, uhmm... I think that's the end of the stream today, i need to tuck y/n in bed and also give her some affection haha" he chuckled and his viewers understand that.

As soon as he ended his stream, he carried you in a bridal style to your shared bedroom and layed you down on bed. He layed down beside you as you cuddle with him and hug him tight. "Sleepwell pudding, sweet dreams, i love you" he said while he kissed your forehead and cuddle with you while you sleep.

Oni Savage Class - A Diatribe

I have a lot of things I ended up not liking about Fates, but the one thing that confuses me to this day is the Oni Savage class, Hoshido’s lesser known class line.

Let’s check out the class’s growth modifiers. (You take these^ bonuses and + them to the unit’s natural growths and you get their level up growths). The Oni Savage class is built like a GENERAL - high Strength, high Defense and high HP. Speed is on the meh side, and SKL and Res are non-existant. Enemy Oni Savages embody these traits - they dish out heavy damage and can tank physical hits, but crumble to magic and are not very fast.

Sounds pretty good on paper! Looking at the other Hoshidan classes, most of your army in Birthright will mostly be Fragile Speedsters or Jack of All Stats at best. An axe-wielding Mighty Glacier will be super useful to round out the team!

That said, why - oh, god WHY - is Rinkah the EXACT OPPOSITE?

In what universe is it considered good game design to make the ONLY naturally occurring Oni Savage the complete antithesis of their starting class?? It’s very unfortunate because I LOVE Rinkah’s design, voice actress and just her general swagger.

Rinkah’s natural growths are as follows:

She has naturally high Skill, Speed and Defense, but pitiful HP and Strength. Her stat modifiers even has a -1 for Strength! Sakura really is stronger in that regard! By the time you add the Oni Savage bonuses, she comes out with subpar Strength, HP, still workable Skill, surprisingly good Speed and great Defense. Sadly, Rinkah won’t be able to deliver well on the “tanky” aspect of her class as her HP is too low to take advantage of her Def stat, and will make her wet paper for any magic-wielding enemies.

Rinkah will also mostly have access to Hoshidan clubs, not axes. On average, Hoshidan weapons have less Might than their Nohrian counterparts, so unless the enemy drops an axe, Rinkah’s low Strength will only allow her to dish out ok damage rather than GREAT damage due to the lower Might. Another unfortunate thing about clubs is that Fates’s Weapon Triangle makes clubs weak to MAGIC, basically dooming Oni Savages to a life of fearing fire, ironically.

The one pro to Hoshidan clubs is that they do feature a nice little Crit bonus built in. Unfortunately, Oni Savages (the class the clubs are designed for) have abysmal Skill, so the Crit bonuses are mostly a fun little thing rather than something to actually take advantage of, like a high Skill class could do.

All in all, Rinkah ends up being a sort of Master of None, not able to dish out high damage or tank reliably as her class would require, and her good bizarre growths are undermined by her lackluckster ones. She’s also the only unpromoted club-wielder in Birthright, so if you don’t pull some Second Seal shenanigans, you’re really missing out on that spectrum of the Weapon Triangle AND class. To make matters worse, Rinkah’s starting stats aren’t impressive either. She’s a Lvl. 4 Oni Savage, but her base stats are actually on par with a Lvl. 1 Avatar’s. You can add Difficult to Raise to reasons Intelligent Systems wasn’t interested in you being interested in the Oni Savage class.

I think I get what IS was trying to do with the class. They were trying to make a more team-oriented unit that could tank hits for the team and allow others to finish the enemy. The Oni Savage’s starting skill is even Resistance Seal. This makes the Oni Savage’s role one where they tank damage and seal the enemy’s Res, and then an ally Mage can come in to deal additional damage. This also synergies with the promoted Oni Chieftain class which itself wields magic. Additionally, they learn Shove, which is another support skill for repositioning. This is opposed to the Fighter class, which is a straight up beefcake bruiser and learns bruiser skills like Roundhouse.

It seems like they wanted the Oni Savage to be really different from the Fighter class and wanted it to do a lot of things but ended up not being able to do anything. Shove is overshadowed by units being able to transport and “shuffle” via Pair Up, and if I wanted a magic-weilding class I would just use one that is already naturally good at it like a Diviner. Its tankiness pales in comparison to a Knight’s, and its damage potential is beaten by Fighters. Plus, Rinkah (your only natural Oni Savage) is not good at either role either way. In fact, you’re probably better off reclassing her to a Ninja or Dread Fighter to take advantage of her crazy natural Speed and Skill.

So what’s the point of this whole spiel? What am I trying to get at? Well, the point is that I don’t think Intelligent Systems really thought the Oni Savage class through very well. They knew they needed an Axe-wielder in Hoshido, but Nohr already got the Fighter, so they made a strange hodgepodge of roles and abilities that ultimately made the Oni Savage inferior to many others who can do the roles better.

In future Fire Emblem installments I want to see classes that have their own merits and strengths, designed to have organic roles with thought put into them. I want to see characters that can take advantage of their class’s abilities and utilize them in ways that make them worthwhile and unique to use. And if a character has a rarer class, I hope they will bring out the beauty of the class, and prove why this particular line is worth our time to raise. I actually think most of the Fates classes were very well-designed and balanced, but the Oni Savage sticks out from the rest.

Maybe I just wasn’t using the class right. I’d like to hear your thoughts on this particular Hoshidan unit. Did you have a good experience using the Oni Savage class?

This led to her developing an obsession with the use of contrasting themes and styles in writing and magic that each expressed. Papillion was closest with her mother, an Adventurer, and enjoyed assisting her as she traveled to nearby villages to care for the poverty-stricken families. Though not as close to her father, due to his constant travels to the capital, she loved to watch him spar during his free time. She also enjoyed caring and riding her father’s prized pegasus, Chou, whenever her father was too tired to do it himself. Unfortunately, while Papillion was close with her parents, she hardly connected with her brother throughout their childhood. This was mainly due to Papillion’s objection to many of her brother’s secret “hobbies”, such as gambling and conning, and his lack of work ethic when it came to his studies. At a young age Papillion dreamt of becoming a scribe for the royal court of Hoshido, in hopes of helping Nohr and Hoshido connect as neighboring kingdoms. However, due to her father’s death, it led her to having to leave her professional studies to help support her mother and brother. Her father was one of the few soldiers that went with King Sumeragi to meet King Garon for the treaty, dying as he rescued Ryoma from also being captured by King Garon’s forces like Corrin. This caused Papillion to have a deep resentment towards Ryoma, despite her better judgement. Though this would not be the last of Papillion’s problems, as she would have to deal with the hateful eyes of the paranoid villagers back home, but also the abuse of her brother behind closed doors. She would only be freed years after when her home of 18 years would be burned down due to wild fires in the summer, leaving her and her mother homeless while her brother ran off with the last of their funds. This would lead Papillion to have to sell the only other thing in their possession, Chou, in hopes of making it to the capital to ask for aid from the royal family. Once at the capital, Yukimura would immediately recognize Papillion and offer to set up new living quarters for them within the palace, if Papillion would be willing to be his assistant. However, the rest of the Royal Court would argue that she must be drafted if she wishes to access any aid, much to Papillion and her mother’s dismay. Papillion would reluctantly agree, wishing to make things easier for her mother, despite her inability to truly stomach the horrors she knew she would have to face on the field. As time passed with the war Papillion would become even more obsessed with stories. Writing her own based on soldiers that she met in the army to help cope with the horrors of war. Though this would not be her only way to deal with her stress, as she also became a workaholic, promiscuous, and more focused on paralyzing magic.

Recruitment/Meeting: In Revelations, after Corrin’s decision to side with neither kingdom, Yukimura would assign Papillion to discover as much about Corrin’s travels as possible. This would lead her to witnessing Corrin and company jumping off the Bottomless Canyon Bridge and believing them to have committed suicide. On her way to report her findings to Yukimura she would find trouble in the form of the Mokushu ninja clan. After Corrin’s rescuing of Saizo and company, Corrin would find that a few of the ninja had gotten away with her still in their hands. Corrin would attempt to rescue her only for her to attack them, believing them to be a ghost. She would need to be confronted by Sakura instead. After the last of the ninja are defeated, Corrin would request her to join their cause to which she begrudgingly agrees to. In Birthright, Papillion would be recruited with Kagero, as they would have been together on their mission back to the capital. In Conquest, Papillion would be an enemy unit on the Sakura map. She would be within the inner walls with Sakura and prepared to protect her at any cost. She would have a different personal skill and the skill “Replicate” so that she can protect Sakura from both the left and right breakable walls.

Trivia: -In many of the children’s paralogues, Papillion’s brother will appear as a second boss as a hired sellsword to the main boss. -If Papillion were to confront her brother she would display her upmost pure form of rage and hatred towards him, killing him in cold blood, but if her spouse were to confront him than he would spare her brother. Offering Corrin the option to spare him at the end of the battle, but not recruit. -When recruited is carrying: Bolt Naginata, Horse Spirit, and Vulnerary -Papillion has a D40 cup chest, wide hips and thighs, and chubby belly -She has a fear of ants

Shared Destiny - Chapter 4 : Hoshido

This is an interesting boss, a Faceless. It has two very dangerous skill, Seal Strength and Seal Defense, making you think twice before approaching him.

Any battle engaged with him will cause his target to lose -6 STR/DEF, whether or not the attack lands. Thankfully though, he isn’t very tough and has low hit-rate.

New Units

[ Rinkah ]  Rinkah has joined you and for some reason she is 2 points lower in SPD than she was back in chapter 2. As an Oni Savage, Rinkah has the DEF to take hits quite well. 

However, her growths don’t do her well. She suffers from low HP and STR growths, which means she will hit less hard and take lesser hits.

That aside, she makes a good pair-up partner for Kaze. As an Oni Savage, she gives +4 STR and +2 DEF when paired up, the much needed damage and bulk that a ninja like Kaze needs.

A character analysis on Rinkah will be linked here once it’s done.

[ Kaze ] Straight up, Kaze is a great unit. He does his job as a Ninja very well. Good STR and RES, excellent SKL and SPD makes him the ultimate mage killing machine.

Kaze is one of the units who gains advantage in promoting early as he will usually hit his low STR cap before reaching level 20.

Though his base STR is quite low, he can be paired up with Rinkah for a +4 STR, combining his high SPD, Kaze is definitely a force to be reckoned with. 

Alone, he can still do quite a bit of damage with Poison Strike and debuffing. All in all making him a great unit, suitable in many situations.

Strategy

In this chapter, we will try to get Kaze at least 1 point in SPD. This is important as part of a set up for the next chapter’s strategy.

Start things off by having Rinkah visit this village and grab the Goddess Icon.

Move Kaze and Corrin up north.

Have Corrin activate the Dragon Vein.

Pair Rinkah up on Kaze. Before doing that, you can also trade over the Goddess Icon to Kaze.

After pairing them up, go ahead and take out the closest Faceless you can reach.

In the enemy phase, the two Faceless from the top will come charging at Kaze. He will be able to survive and Ryoma will steal one of the kills.

Go ahead and finish off the other one. Don’t need to heal up yet.

Move Corrin up and a turn should pass. Move Corrin up again to activate the next Dragon Vein.

Pass Kaze over to Corrin. This is important as there’s a Faceless approaching from the west who’s going to take Sakura out if you can’t reach there on time.

Having Kaze paired up on Corrin, Corrin will have +1 MOV, making it possible for him to reach the bunch of Faceless in the west in time.

Depending on your Corrin, he/she may or may not be able to take out the Faceless charging at him/her. If you have enough STR and SPD to take it out, Corrin will get that EXP. If not, Ryoma will finish it up for you like he did for me (that jerk).

Make your way to the west and enter the danger zone as soon as possible. Pop a Vulnerary if necessary.

Have Rinkah tag along behind, but not in the danger zone. Once Kaze enter the danger zone, end the turn. Kaze should be able to gain a level on the enemy’s phase.

Have either Corrin or Kaze finish off the Faceless, depending on who you want to train up.

You should be able to take out at least a Faceless with a 100% shield charged up at the end. In a scenario where there are still Faceless surviving after you taking out one, They will be safe from harm.

Unfortunately for us, Kaze wouldn’t be able to take out that Faceless in one turn to save Sakura.

Allow his big brother, Ryoma, to do the honor.

You can, however, though not necessary, stand beside Sakura and she will heal you up. This will save you some Vulnerary.

If Ryoma is standing on that spot, you can activate the Dragon Vein for that mountain or slowly crawl beside Sakura. Both are quite the hassle, I’d just use a Vulnerary.

More importantly, talk to Hinoka with Corrin and she’ll give you a Concoction.

Trade over the Concoction to Kaze and make your way to the last four enemies on the mountain peak.

The strategy will split here depending on Kaze’s previous level up.

Strategy - Kaze

There are two reasons why you want to use this strategy. - Kaze didn’t get a point in SPD in the previous level up. - You are planning to play Birthright AND using Kaze.

This strategy will maximise the EXP gain for Kaze. This strategy is highly recommended for people who are planning on playing Birthright.

Have Kaze paired up with Rinkah again and go for the bunch. 

DO NOT ACTIVATE THE DRAGON VEIN FOR THAT MOUNTAIN. You’ll be swarmed if you do. Mountains have movement penalty and hence making this strategy possible.

Take them out one by one.

Mountains also have avoid bonus so the hit rates are a little bit shaky, but same goes for them too. Heal up with the healing items if you need to.

Finally, take out the boss.

If all goes as planned, Kaze should be able to reach level 6.

Corrin will receive lesser EXP, but next chapter will be smoother for you.

Strategy - Corrin

There are two reasons why you want to use this strategy. - You don’t plan on using Kaze. - You are going to play on Conquest or Revelation.

This strategy will maximise the EXP gain for Corrin. This strategy is highly recommended for people who are planning on playing Conquest or Revelation.

You may want to trade everything to Corrin. Current inventory for Corrin.

Slowly scale up the mountain and deal with the guys. 

You probably won't be able to one round a lot of them even with enough speed since the mountain gives DEF bonuses. Just do it slowly with a Rinkah pair up for as much damage and defensively as possible.
