Top 5 Out of the Box Sonam Kapoor Movies
Sonam kapoor Indian actress Ahuja performs in Hindi-language movies. She has received a National Film Award and a Filmfare Award, and from 2012 to 2016, she was listed among Forbes India's Celebrity 100 based on her popularity and earnings.
Fashion and Sonam Kapoor go hand in hand. And enjoyment too. It's no secret that we enjoy Sonam Kapoor's choice of entertaining films to act in. Her films frequently have a carefree, sunny, perfect day feel. Popcorn movies at their very best.
Aisha
Rajshree Ojha is the director of the 2010 Hindi-language romantic comedy-drama Aisha. Sonam Kapoor, Abhay Deol, Ira Dubey, Cyrus Sahukar, Amrita Puri, Anand Tiwari, Arunoday Singh, and Lisa Haydon are all part of the ensemble cast in this comedy of manners. It is a version of Jane Austen's 1815 novel Emma and is set in the upper-class society of Delhi, India. It has the same tone as the cult Hollywood movie Clueless (1995), which is also an adaptation of Austen's book. Aisha, which debuted on August 6, 2010, had a mediocre box office performance. Critics gave it mixed to favourable reviews. She characterised her persona as an intrusive diva with a penchant for playing Cupid and matchmaking.
2.Neerja
The 2016 Indian biographical thriller film Neerja, which was written by Saiwyn Quadras and Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh, was directed by Ram Madhvani. The narrative is based on a true incident: the attempted hijacking of Pan Am Flight 73 by the Abu Nidal Organization, which was supported by Libya, on September 5, 1986 in Karachi, Pakistan. The head purser of the flight, Neerja Bhanot, who stopped the hijack attempt by warning the pilots and forcing them to ground the aircraft, is portrayed in the movie. Bhanot lost his life while attempting to save the 359 survivors among the 379 passengers and crew. She played the role of the air hostess Neerja Bhanot, who perished in 1986 while attempting to save the passengers of Pan Am Flight 73, which had been hijacked.
Since the project is based on actual events, Kapoor felt a sense of responsibility towards it. As part of her role preparation, she met the Bhanot family. The movie received a lot of positive reviews, and many critics thought that Kapoor gave her best performance to date. According to Raja Sen, her performance was a career-defining moment, and Rohit Vats of the Hindustan Times observed that "she carries entirely on her shoulder." She conveys a mixture of sincere, fear, goodwill, and boldness. Rajeev Masand invited Kapoor to his yearly best actresses roundtable, and Sen named Kapoor the best actress in Hindi film of 2016. In addition to numerous other honours, Kapoor received a Special Mention for a National Film Award and a Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Critics).
3. Raanjhanaa
Beloved One, also known as Raanjhanaa, is a 2013 Indian Hindi-language romantic drama film that was written and directed by Aanand L. Rai. Kapoor played the part of Varanasi-based Muslim student Zoya Haider, who becomes involved in politics as a result of the murder of her Sikh lover. Kapoor met with students, went to workshops, and practised with theatre groups affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru University in order to get ready for her role. Additionally, she looked at Jaya Bachchan's performance in Guddi (1971), which she thought was "ideal" for the part. In response to a question about her role in the movie, Kapoor gave the following explanation of her acting style: "I have always tried to do diverse films and… I strive to be different for every character. The film was superhit at box office.

Neerja movie what was the last message to her mother
The track 'Aisa Kyun Maa', a beautiful rendition stays with you for a long time.Ĭombo-on-offer: A story of courage and sacrifice+ Emotions The film also has some soulful songs and music. Inspite of these flaws, 'Neerja' deeply moves you especially the last 10-15 minutes which are quite impressive and heart-wrenching! Saiwyn Quadras's screenplay could have been a bit more taut to create maximum impact. But in the process, the film slows down a bit which could work against it. He takes his own time to build a claustrophobic atmosphere. However this captain of the ship's journey isn't so smooth as there are a few scenes which could have had some more intensity to make 'Neerja' a gripping tale. One must applaud him for choosing such a sensitive subject for his debut vehicle. The rest of the cast too is apt and add various layers to the story of those crucial 17 hours of hijack translated on-screen.ĭirection: Ad-man Ram Madhvani makes his debut as a film director with 'Neerja'. The mother-daughter bonding is extremely heart-warming. Shabana Azmi as Neerja's mother Rama has some shining moments that leave you emotional. Performances: Sonam Kapoor gives an honest performance as Neerja though she takes her own time to sink her teeth into her role. What follows next is how Neerja overcomes her fear drawing parallels from her failed marriage and becomes a saviour for the passengers on the hijacked flight on that fateful night. The premise then shifts to Karachi, Pakistani where a few members of a terrorist organization are planning to hijack that same very flight and take its passengers as hostages. 'Lado' Neerja and her mother Rama (Shabana Azmi) bond over paranthas and Rajesh Khanna. She is like any other girl constantly trying to seize every moment of happiness. We see a young cheerful Neerja, celebrating a function with her family and other society members at Navjeevan Society in Mumbai before boarding Pan Am Flight 73 as a senior flight attendant. What's New: 'Neerja' is a brave attempt to tell an inspiring story of an unsung hero Slaps: A couple of 'slow' moments in the film which jarrs the narrative. Writer: Saiwyn Quadras, Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh (dialogues) Producer: Atul Kasbekar, Shanti Sivaram Maini, Bling Unplugged, Fox Star Studios Cast: Sonam Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Shekhar Ravjiani

It gives them a chance to go beyond the film/script/video into the details of their work” One of the youngest amongst the jury, a lover of art Jidnya Sujata, widely known for her poems and gigs, is all excited about IFP "Almost 2 years ago, I came to know about IFP through a friend and I really wanted to be a part of it somehow. But I never actually got a chance! And now I finally am!!!!!!!! Guess who's excited????? Das me!!" Bhavani Iyer known for her amazing screenplay in classics like Black, Guzarrish and Lootera, said, “One of the biggest challenges for an aspiring filmmaker venturing into films is finding the right platform. India Film Project, over the years, has continued to provide this platform to writers, designers and storytellers to showcase their talent. These new talent bridge the gap between generations and give way to new thoughts. I am extremely honoured and looking forward to be associated with IFP as their jury for their Screenwriting challenge this year. Gulshan Grover’s US-based son Sanjay had purchased the film rights to the life of Kashmiri student and footballer Afshan Ashiq, who was given the controversial tag of a stonepelter when a picture of her hurling a stone at security forces during protests in Srinagar went viral. The 22-year-old, who is admired in the Valley for her passion for the sport, had met Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Mehbooba Mufti last year as she put together a team of women footballers and started training them. The biopic, titled ‘ Hope Solo’, will be directed by Manish Harishankar, who has previously assisted Rajkumar Santoshi on ‘ Ajab Prem ki Gazab Kahani’, ‘ Halla Bol’ and ‘ Phata Poster Nikla Hero’, and is written by Saiwyn Quadras (of Mary Kom, Neerja and Parmanu fame). Now, Mirror has learnt that Athiya Shetty has been roped in to play Afshan in the biopic which will roll this year and will be shot in Kashmir. The makers approached the 25-yearold actress over six months ago, but the paperwork was completed recently. “Unlike most Indian biopics, this film will not be a success story but an emotional journey that portrays one girl’s fight against a system. It will focus on several movements like Khelo India, a national programme for the development of sports in the country, and the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme for women empowerment. Afshan’s dream has always been to be a national-level goalkeeper and represent India in international women’s football. The film will focus on these aspirations,” a source told Mirror. Meanwhile, Athiya, who made her Bollywood debut opposite Sooraj Pancholi in the 2015 Salman Khan production Hero, which was directed by Nikkhil Advani, has always been a football fan and played the sport as a student. The source adds, “Athiya is presently practicing football daily to step into Afshan’s shoes and has also been training as a goalkeeper. Her prep will also include learning Kashmiri and acclimatising with the accent.” Last year, the actress, who is a New York Film Academy alumnus, had featured in the Anees Bazmee comedy caper, ‘ Mubarakan’, alongside Anil and Arjun Kapoor. ‘ Hope Solo’ will be her third Bollywood film. Sanjay plans to take ‘ Hope Solo’ to an international market and has locked a deal with a big-ticket worldwide production giant for the biopic. The source added, “Having studied the business of entertainment in Hollywood , the 27-year-old filmmaker has spent the last five years as Director of Special Projects with Metro Goldwyn Mayer, Sanjay is presently casting for the other prominent characters in the film,” Interestingly, Sanjay went to school with Athiya and Sooraj, as well as other Bollywood actors including Sonam Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and Tiger Shroff. If reports are to be believed, the rights for her story was purchased by Gulshan Grover’s US based son Sanjay. Hope Solo marks the Bollywood directorial debut of Manish Harishankar, who has previously assisted Rajkumar Hirani in some renowned films like Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani, Halla Bol amongst others. Parmanu – The Story Of Pokhran Review
When India got independence in 1947, it was a challenge for those who assumed power. After all, they had to start from scratch in several areas and aspects. These challenges continue till date but it’s heartening to see that despite a lot of hurdles, India has made great progress in a lot of fields. One of the achievements was becoming a full-fledged nuclear state and this happened due to a series of nuclear tests carried out in Rajasthan town in 1998. The entire story behind these nuclear tests is quite fascinating and surprisingly, no filmmaker had picked it up in these two decades. Finally, actor-producer John Abraham took the challenge and has come out with PARMANU – THE STORY OF POKHRAN. So does the film turn out to be an engaging and thrilling fare? Or does it fail in its endeavour? Let’s analyse.
PARMANU – THE STORY OF POKHRAN is the story of those people who secretly carried out a series of nuclear bomb test explosions in Pokhran on May 11, 1998. Ashwath Rana (John Abraham) is from the research department of the Central Government and in 1995, he advises the Prime Minister’s Office to conduct nuclear bomb tests in order to achieve supremacy in this field and establish fear among the nuclear powers of the world. The plan gets accepted but he’s not made a part of it. His plan is also not studied well. As a result, USA’s satellites catch India preparing for the tests red handed. India is left red faced and Ashwath is made the scapegoat. He is removed from his job and shifts to Mussoorie with wife Sushma (Anuja Sathe) and son Prahlad. For the next 3 years, Ashwath does odd jobs while Anuja runs the house by working in an observatory. In 1998, Atal Bihari Vajpayee is made the Prime Minister. His principle secretary Himanshu Sharma (Boman Irani) summons Ashwath and asks him to help with the nuclear tests. Ashwath agrees and devises a plan to prepare and conduct the tests without the USA getting a whiff of it. He also prepares a team comprising of Ambalika (Diana Penty), Dr. Viraf Wadia (Aditya Hitkari), Dr. Naresh Sinha (Yogendra Tikku), Major Prem Singh (Vikas Kumar) and Purunganathan. How they manage to work together and put India on world nuclear map forms the rest of the film.
Saiwyn Quadras, Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh and Abhishek Sharma’s story is very promising and novel as it has entertainment and feeling of nationalism in adequate doses. Saiwyn Quadras, Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh and Abhishek Sharma’s screenplay is neat and simple and they ensure that complex technical language is not used. As a result, even the layman can understand what’s going on.
PARMANU – THE STORY OF POKHRAN has a shaky start. The 1995 sequence doesn’t involve viewers properly. It’s when Ashwath meets Himanshu is when the film picks up. From here, the film goes on another level and it’s fun to see Ashwath assembling his team and fooling USA. The intermission comes at a great point. The second half is better as the Pakistani spy (Darshan Pandya) and CIA agent Daniel (Mark Bennington) try their best to fail Team Ashwath’s mission. There’s also sudden humour quotient added and it works very well especially in the confrontation scene between Ashwath and Sushma. The best is reserved for the finale. It is very well handled and the patriotic fervor comes out beautifully.
Saiwyn Quadras, Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh and Abhishek Sharma’s dialogues are nothing great but look real and conversational. Abhishek Sharma’s direction flows quite easily and is to the point. He very nicely packs in a lot in 130 minutes. However, one wishes if the tension levels could have gone higher. A film like this should have had more edge of the seat moments for an added impact. Also, though the team is shown facing roadblocks, it seemed a bit convenient at most places. Thankfully, the film has enough plusses that overpower these glitches.
John Abraham delivers one of the best performances of his career. His act is subtle and yet leaves a mark. His character has suffered a lot and this bit comes out very well. Also he’s not shown as an invincible killing machine which is his image. Yet he pulls it off very well! Diana Penty has a crucial part and essays the no nonsense character very well. Boman Irani delivers an incredible performance and it was a pleasure to see him on screen after ages. Vikas Kumar is totally believable as an army major. Yogendra Tiku raises laughs while Aditya Hitkari looks quite smart and gives an impressive performance. Darshan Pandya leaves a mark. Anuja Sathe is very good and manages to create an impact with her supporting role. Mark Bennington and Zachary Coffin (Stephen) are okay.
Sachin-Jigar’s music doesn’t get much scope and all songs are relegated to the background. ‘Thare Vaaste’ is the only song that stands out, more so because of the execution. Sandeep Chowta’s background score is theatrical and impactful but has a major Hans Zimmer hangover which could have been avoided. Zubin Mistry’s cinematography is quite nice and captures the barren locales of Rajasthan well. Rameshwar S Bhagat’s editing is slick. T P Abid and Sandeep S Ravade’s production design is very authentic and realistic. Amar Shetty’s action is sans any gory.
On the whole, PARMANU – THE STORY OF POKHRAN is an excellent saga that has a big chance of working at the box office despite the low buzz. The patriotic fervor and simple, effective narration works big time. Recommended!
