Anytime someone takes a form of comedic media too seriously, questioning the story motivations and The Meaning of It All. Like, i get it and love that for you butâŠ
Before you start spiraling, consider âbecause itâs funnyâ as a possible valid explanation
#People discussing the ending of dumeshi are making a lot of great points but also#spoilers ahead#Laois being king is yeah a comment on sacrifice for the greater good and growing up but also itâs so fucking funny#the deranged weirdo is now everyoneâs problem#the king wants to his burial to be done via safari buffet to rejoin the ecosystem and we al gotta act like the king is wise and normal#(he has a point tho but also itâs so funny to go to the eventual kingâs tomb and read a plaque that says âitâs actually emptyâ)#(we threw his body to a pack of bears as was demanded by royal decree. His skeleton was ground to pulp and sprinkled to migrating salmon)

okay so.. a polyamorous pred in a relationship with only other prey would be called a buffet relationship right.
and a prey dating 2 preds would be tug of war, any more would be a share platter.
and an observer with a mix of pred and prey would be safari.

Mongolian Chocolates, Bandung Rose Lattes, and Pumpkin Spice
The entire trip, âvacationâ, was our usual.
Usual Filipino family toxicity.
At the age of 26, Iâm tired and done.
At least the trip kept me away from work
and I got to play games for about 5 days in South Korea.
I do not hate Korea, like I donât hate any East Asian countries
despite what they think of Filipinos.
I kept myself under wraps
in a quiet little guesthouse in Seonggyunwan-ro.
I loved the all-meals included, buffet style
but my stomach was ever sensitive.
Iâve gotten to the point that Korea is boring
and wished I was in Mongolia.
The booking and plan were not mine, since Iâm with family.
I could have had a Mongolian trip,
if not for my single-entry visa.
 Maybe, someday,
I would like to go to Mongolia,
then China, North Korea, and Russia.
I want to visit Belarus and Ukraine too, Tranistria.
Seoul sucked the soul out of me, with their foreigners
looking to hit it and hook up, party, and locals who wanted âexperienceâ.
I tried to draw and write, I really did
 yet the rain
and the fact that I could not go around the full day because of itâŠ
it reminded me of the Philippines.
Usually, I wish to go to a country to escape sudden rain
and typhoons forming, not going into it.
I managed the trip alone for five days
Until they come back to Seoul.
I wanted to get fucked since I got wasted
But I did not choose my sexuality, I knew being AroAce chose me.
I rubbed one out after being hammered and sick
And searched Safari on private if I could bring vibrators in the airport.
I was not about to let myself be touched or touch some rando,
I hate everyone.
When they came back to Korea, they made me feel all bad,
Like usual, like when I was 12.
It does not matter, I get to spend their money
Because they screwed up the itinerary.
I did not get to see Mongolia, however the treats and pasalubong
Are fine and dandy.
I love Mongolian chocolates, and sweets.
You could snack on them even on the brink of an almost sore throat.
American food tends to be too sweet or too salty,
South Korean is too sweet, savory
And Filipino is on the sweet side
But there is something about Mongolian chocolates.
I do not have a good relationship with food,
Yet I snack on them.
My familyâs time in Korea was short before we go back home
And now, I recently had my first paycheck after the trip.
I checked on my old friends, against Mamaâs advice
(not my mother, but a known, good-looking woman).
And I feel nothing at all.
If they want toxic, if they are not self-aware,
I will not teach them.
I have a full license; I do not teach people for free
And I will not teach them to act right.
If they donât understand my words and my actions,
And are committed to such misunderstandings,
Why parent the child?
Kids and teens piss me the fuck off,
Adults who act out and are not self-aware are more so.
I guess I try to philosophize, critique,
With all my office work, art, and writing,
With my belly full of fat, coffee,
Pumpkin spice and Bandung Rose latte
Why do people have to be so âmeanâ, and so ârudeâ?
I will never know my pastâs answers.
I am stuck in a reverse,
In a different delusion.
That is because I was never friended, familied and loved
The way I wanted to be loved,
I never had lovers.
I do not have ex-friends or exes,
If I am the one who sought the most, the one who suffered.
Perhaps friendship and romance are a foreign language,
The one I will never comprehend.
I feel like the Virgin Mary with my friends, with my loves.
Never loved, never touched.

âUnforgivingâ Skeleton Coast
May 20, 2024
Having had a day of big game yesterday that was unexpected, today was a more unique adventure to the Skeleton Coast. It was pretty hot yesterday afternoon, and with no A/C we were both worried about sleeping. But the silence (save for the roaring lion that only Jill and the staff heard), the darkness, and an air temperature that cooled down quite nicely, we both slept like the dead. Still, alarms went off early; we rallied, gathered laundry (for one of the benefits of safari camps), got our stuff together and MacDonald collected us at 6:30 for breakfast (no roaming by ourselves in the dark). Quite yummy, as expected, with cooked options and a nice buffet. Coffees, oh yes.
Off we drove with Jo, Robert (our new best friends), Esther, our lunch cook for the day, and Max. The drive was fascinating. In the early light before full sun, the colors were flat and muted with even shrubs and trees seemingly in camouflage. It was fun to listen to Maxâs banter with Esther, and he was great at stopping to look at random things. One example: who needs calcium supplement pills when there is dried out hyena poop (only bone remaining) to be had at the side of the road? After a bit, we got to the same riverbed we followed yesterday, but continued along it much further toward the Atlantic. Here, as the sun rose, again the textures, colors and shapes were amazing. The cracked dried clay of the riverbed curls up into the likes of chocolate curls on a cake. The wind makes squiggles in the sand that are like art. Max spotted some tracks in sand built up at the edge of the riverbank, and we stopped, got out of the vehicle, to see the beetle tracks and subtle designs from a spider. Max explained that the spiders make tunnels into the sand to keep cool during the hot days. Then he proceeded to blow away a bit of sand showing the front door, and he opened it by lifting up a tiny flap that was the front door to the spiders den, created from spider saliva and silk. Totally cool. âGotta love nature! He carefully replaced the front door, as guides are immensely respectful of wildlife.
The banks of the river are pretty high, a result of the rushing water that comes only every few years. Periodically, there are scrambles of branches where the current slammed them into a tree or rock and there they stayed. We stopped for birds, flowers, a few giraffes nibbling on branches, an oryx with a baby (adorable). As we got further along, the river spread out, banks became lower and dusty greens started to creep into the browns, rusts and tans of the drive thus far. This is when we were told to put on our seatbelts and the serious bumps began. Talk about the proverbial âAfrican massageâ this journey took the cake. The vehicle bounced, tipped, steadied itself and bounced some more - all the way to the ocean! It was oddly soothing, even trying to stay upright, and each of us nodded off a few times! Windows up, at one point the sand cloud got so thick that Max had to stop for it to clear. Yet further on, we stopped to watch a few black back jackals hunting rodents, leaping and running! Truly, Max was a wonder, knowing just when to let us nod off for a few minutes, when to point something out, when to stop the car and let us out for a stretch or a closer look, and when to share his amazing knowledge of the desert. The next transition was to dunes. We stopped this time to let air out of the tires, and carried on. There were areas of purple - yes, with beautiful patterns from the wind, and the purple layer being from granite sand. Riding the dunes was somewhere between exhilarating and terrifying. As we got close to the water, we stopped to view an âoasis,â a water hole with a bunch of birds where an underground river/natural spring popped up in the middle of the dunes. We wander off a short way to observe and a little white tuxedoâed beetle (black and white markings) chased Jill around. Max picked him up and, of course, knew everything about the little creature! It was quite windy and as headed back the short distance to the vehicle, our footprints were already almost gone from the wind blowing the dunes. Not sure how this happened but at one point Max stopped and the next thing we knew, Jill, Robert and Sarah were singing our national anthem, after which Max sang the Namibian anthem. The apt, memorable line was about âcontrast in beautiful Namibia.
We made it to the coast, where we stopped for a break at a National Park office and small museum about the Skeleton Coast. Known for being unforgiving due to the currents, fog and rocks, it is a graveyard of ships and whales that were caught unaware! The museum consisted of animal bones, riggings from ship wrecks and stories of significant wrecks. We went down to the shore with huge waves and an enourmous and totally stinky fur seal population. Thousands for as far as the eye could see. They were fun to watch for a bit, especially the babies, awkwardly hoisting their little bodies around on the rocks. The amazing thing was to the hundreds or thousands surfing, bobbing up and down and having themselves a grand old time in the water. Indeed there were seagulls and birds of prey around to feast on the inevitable carcases of seals among the molt-covered rocks.
We went back to the office/museum compound where Esther had a lovely lunch of corn and miso soup and paella ready for us. She apparently does this almost every day during her six weeks on! Conversation was lovely and lunch was good. We learned that our 2:00 PM plane back would be delayed,so off we went to see a shipwreck - yay!
The shipweck was from 1976, a South African fishing boat called the South Coast. It was a mass of tangled, mangled metal strewn about the shore. Must have been a harsh end. It was good to get a feel for why indeed this landscape is unforgiving.
Finally, with a little more time, we headed south to the mouth of the river (currently blocked off),where a bunch of flamingoes were feeding in the water. One wouldnât have known we werenât in Florida!
Back at the airstrip, we boarded our plane quickly and got home in no time! We blogged and reviewed photos for a bit then headed to our briefing from the research team here. Cheetahs! Yay. Theyâre such wonderful creatures, and our guy was so totally enthusiastic about understanding them better. He even considers the vulture/cheetah in his research. Loved it!
We then had a lovely chat with Lizelle, the duty manager for tonight, around the firepit - everything from commiserating about knee issues, to healthcare, to customer service to tourism. Fun to get a localâs perspective. Dinner was wonderful, pulling Jo and Robertâs table over to join us. The evening was much cooler than last night, and totally enjoyable. The fact that Seb almost ate a moth with a sip of wine - details, detailsâŠ
Back in the room, fans to cool, mosquito nets to protectâŠlife is good.

WAKANDA FOREVER : African Destination Wedding
The Wakanda Forever Destination Wedding occurs in Zambia Africa at the Victoria Falls outdoor landscape and scenery area. The wedding ceremony includes a mix of traditional African rituals from the jumping of the broom, to libations for the ancestors and the traditional wedding money (prosperity) dance with African drumming.Â
In much of Africa, drums are considered to symbolize and protect royalty. There are many kinds of African drums, including the djembe.
Attire will include themed looks and colors from the Wakanda Forever movie. The color palette is Royal Purple and Glistening Gold with Warrior Red, Protective Blue, Earthly Brown and Compassion Green, Beautiful Black and Natural White.
The African attire includes the Zulu inspired hat of the black panther mother called Isicolo and a distinctive style of blanket, known as Basotho blankets, worn traditionally by tribal people from Lesotho.Â
Isicolio Hats: Can be traced to Zulu culture, where women have traditionally weaved hats from grass and cotton to wear on special ceremonies such as weddings.Â
Basotho Blankets : The distinctive style of blanket, worn traditionally by tribal people from Lesotho. This blanket, commonly worn wrapped around a high-status person like a cloak.
Aso Ebi : The word âAsoâ means cloth and âEbiâ means family, so it literally means âfamily clothâ. It a way for friends to show closeness to the family during ceremonial events by matching.
This ceremony is a private event for only a select family members and friends that occurs during the daytime right before the sun sets on a beautiful Sunday Evening.
Jumping of the Broom : Some believe that it originated in West Africa. The broom is waved over the couple's head to ward off evil and than placed on the ground and the couple jumps over it for new beginnings.Â
Libations : They pour holy water or alcohol on the grounding each of the four cardinal directions. They then recite prayers to the ancestral spirits, and calls out the names of those that have recently passed away. This African tradition is aimed to appease the ancestors and bless the bride and groom.
The 4 Elements : The Yoruba have a wedding tradition called the tasting of the four elements. During that ceremony, the bride and groom get a literal taste of flavors that represent the distinct stages in a marriage. A lemon slice is for sour to represent the disappointments the couple will face. A sip of vinegar is for the bitterness they must overcome in fights and trying times. Cayenne is a hot element to show a way of bringing spice and passion to the relationship. Finally, a sweet spoonful of honey to show the joy in marriage.
The destination wedding guest will lodge and conclude the events indoors at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge restaurant. The beautiful waterfall scenery has a resemblance from the Wakanda Forever movie.Â
The cake is simple yet flows with the theme and the menu will be mostly vegetarian with fish and delicious but simple sides of rice, vegetables and dessert. Fruit baskets will be presented to the bride and groom along with other gifts found in their wedding suite.Â

Obligatory Beach Episode
When most Australians think of surf, sand and sun, they think of their local beach. Press them a little on famous ones that they can lounge on or which tourists frequent and they might say Bondi Beach or the Gold Ask. Ask them for something a little more exotic and theyâll probably name a resort in Bali or Fiji.
Ask Europeans for an exotic beach locale and you might get something like Hurghada. After all, itâs not too far from the European mainland and has some killer snorkelling opportunities to get up close and personal with adorable little fishes!
Our tour group had chosen to stay at the Stella Makadi Resort. More exactly: the Stella Gardens Resort and Spa Makadi Bay. From the outside, it looked almost like a massive compound. On the inside, it was a nice relaxing stroll down to the beachside with a few shops dedicated to selling trinkets and souvenirs that screamed: EGYPT!
Our first day at the resort was one of rest. We had no activities planned, which seemed apt when travelling with a large group of geriartrics.
Okay, I kid. They were mostly in their 50s and 60s. Which, I mean, still isnât young by any means but considering I was the youngest of the entire group sitting at the round number of 30 says a lot. Heck, even 30 is old when you talk to teenagers.
So, what does one do when there isnât much of a rush to head anywhere and everywhere? You go to the local beach, of course. As, as part of a package with the resort, there was a shuttle could take the adventurous down to the shoreline instead of having to hoof it down, plebeian style.
I donât believe much explanation is required when photos will suffice in terms of the atmosphere of the Stella Makadi. It was pretty much your typical resort stolen from every tropical resort ever. Which isnât to say it was bad, but I hadnât brought swimmers. I had been more intent on learning the history of fishing rather than focusing on my tan lines.
As a random aside, most of the elderly Europeans (of which there was a lot down in Hurghada) seemed to love the idea of burning their skin until it was lobster red. They might not have peeled yet but is it any wonder their skin was so saggy and wrinkly when compared to Asians?
In any case, my first day of Hurghada mostly revolved around getting to know a few select members of the tour group a bit better than I had before by playing cards with them on the beach and pondering what our buffet meals had on offer.
The second day at Hurghada was, thankfully, one of adventure albeit ones where you had to pay a little bit extra on top of the $7000 that had to be shelled out at the start for the trip.Â
Our first stop was Sindbad Submarine. And no, thatâs not a typo. It was literally called Sindbad rather than Sinbad.
In any case, the Red Sea, it should be noted, shares a few similarities with the Great Barrier Reef. In that it has a reef where plenty of fish call home. And to truly appreciate the aquatic life in and around the area, one must go beneath the waves. Hence, many of our tour group packing into a floating tin can that could sink down about 25 metres below the surface, all so that we could marvel at coral, the diver that came with us, and the fish the diver had managed to lure towards our window with the promise of food.Â
I even spotted a Red Sea clownfish poking out through its home anemone, as well as an Indian lionfish lying low but wasnât able to snap a shot fast enough on my phone. Alas!
After our submarine adventure, we boated back to shore and were presented with a certification of completion. Our local tour guide, Ahmed, even saw fit to write our names in Arabic on the slip of paper.
With our morning activities over, it was back to the resort for lunch before we enjoyed a Jeep Safari through the Sahara Desert. But although I say Jeep, I really mean Toyota Land Cruisers.
Since most of those in our tour group were an elderly bunch, the dirvers took it slow on the small hills and crests in the desert. Throughout the drive, we stopped at multiple areas, snapping shots of a distant mirage, a lonely Acacia tree (that was not the Tree of Tenere), and a towering dune of sand.
We even stopped at a nomadic village. In Chinese, it sounded like Bolu but a search on Google tells me that it might be the beduins. In any case, we got to taste their special type of naan, cooked over a flat stone with camel dung used to fuel the fire, ride a few camels and enjoy a cup of red tea that was a little too bitter for my tastes.
By the time we left their village, the sun was setting. Though I would have preferred to have returned to the resort by then, we still had one last stop. A performance, actually, that involved belly dancing and some clever dervish twirls. Along with some food and refreshments.
And even though I was asked to participate in some additional dancing, like the I coward I am I refused. Me? Belly dancing? In front of strangers? Never.
Besides, Iâm not very curvaceous - at least in the sexy sense - and the thought of being the only poor dancer on stage was a huge disincentive to get up and âshake my booty.âÂ
So, while this wasnât the most stereotypical beach episode in every anime ever, there was plenty of sun, surf and sand to enjoy. Certainly, for any enterprising influence, Hurghada would have been a great relaxation spot with excellent water views and opportunities to get down and dirty with beach volleyball and Zumba on the sand.Â
As for budding Egyptologists, well, a little leisure can go a long way. Hurghada might not be rich in history, but it is rich in demonstrating the interconnection between cultures and giving some much needed zing if all one does is trek from one dusty old temple to the next.
