♡ Nightmares
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
✎ w/ Luffy, Ace, Sabo ✎ ANGST ✎ Synopsis: he wakes up from a nightmare about you
Tumblr media
♡ Luffy Luffy jolted awake, finding himself in a dark room with sweat-soaked blankets. His heart beat was erratic as he looked around, picturing your tear streaked cheeks and scared, pleading eyes. Your cabin. He throws his blankets off and stumbles out of his hammock, paying no mind to the complaints of others and making a beeline for the door. The cold air bites his cheeks and suddenly the sheet of sweat covering his body is like ice, but he hurries on. He pauses when he gets to your door, placing his hand on the knob and bracing himself, not completely convincing himself he'll find your sleeping form when he opens it. Inhaling the icy air in a quick breath, Luffy opens the door and a small rectangle of light falls on the sleeping forms of his crew. His eyes immediately find your body, knee poking out of the covers and hair spread across your pillow like a web. Slowly, Luffy makes his way to your bedside, pulling the covers back slightly and slipping in beside you. You move towards his warmth and he accepts you into his arms and sweeps his hands tenderly over your back, hands slipping beneath your shirt to press the pads of his fingers against your warm skin. He closes his eyes and sighs against the crown of your head, heart slowing and body falling weak with exhaustion.
♡ Ace Ace jolted awake, looking around at the dark room lit only by rays of dim moonlight through the windows. He's in his cabin. Where are you?Whipping his head to the side where you had fallen asleep the night before, he finds a pile of blankets messily pushed off him. Where are you? His heart spikes in his chest and his stomach drops, he thinks he might puke. Where are you?! He shoots to his knees, frantically looking around the dark room in vain, he grabs at the sheets under him in frustration, breath getting caught in his throat as a million idea of what could be happening to you swim through his head. The sheets shuffle, he freezes. He grabs at the pile of blankets and pulls at them, locating your sleeping form which he'd accidentally covered when pushing the sweat-soaked sheets off his body. The moonlight outlined your silhouette and Ace felt like he'd been splashed with cold water, the sweat on his forehead turning icy in the cold room. He sits like this for awhile, watching your chest rise and fall with your breath, watching your eyes twitch. Ace wants to reach out and touch you as if you were a jewel-encrusted display at a museum, but he's afraid if he lays a finger on you you'll shatter and be lost in the sheets. You turn over and throw your hand over to where he'd be sleeping, clutching at empty air, and Ace finally moves. Reaching his hand down ever so slowly, so carefully, he lays his fingertips on your hand like he's trying not to break a surface of water. He runs his fingers up your arm, slowly, pressing more of his hand to your skin, feeling the warmth against his own. Ace slides his feet back under the covers and pulls them up to his waist, he takes you by the waist and pulls you flush against him, inhaling the scent of your hair.
He stares at the wall and listens to the sound of your breath, he swears he can feel your heart beat against his. ♡ Sabo Sabo sits panting among messed sheets, chest heaving up and down as your scream echoes through the corridors in his mind. Sweat beads his skin and he raises a hand to push his hair back. His feet appear out from under the covers and upon feeling the cold floor Sabo hunches and lets his mind fall into place. He searches through the anxiety and anger, fear and confusion, and finds that his body is craving you. Like when you get the gnawing idea you forgot something at home, he has the gnawing idea he'll search for you and find nothing but anguish. He grabs the glass of water on his nightstand, gulping it in seconds as stray streams run down his throat. Setting the glass down and throwing on his jacket and shoes, he hurries out the door. Having a mission, you were supposed to get back at one-thirty and it's almost two-thirty, you should be in your room. Sabo nearly runs down the hall, almost running into someone rounding a corner, and knocks quickly on your door. His heart pounds against his ribcage and he feels like his head is foggy with worries, what will he do if you don't open up? You should be back, why wouldn't you be back? Where are you? What if-- the door opens and you peer up the blond man. His eyes are bloodshot and wide with fear, face flushed and sick-looking. Before you can even comprehend what's happening, Sabo pushes you back through the door and pushes it shut behind, shoving his lips against yours as he guides you further into the small room. You put your hands up on his chest and push him back gently, confused and worried. Asking him what's wrong, he stutters out, "I- I- You were- You-" and you wrap your arms around him, cradling the back of his head with one hand as he hurries his head in your neck. He starts taking deep breaths, clinging to you. After a few moments, you feel his body lose some tension and he lets out a shuddering breath. "I'm sorry, I just got worried you weren't back...", he says sheepishly, panic being replaced by embarrassment. You think it's sweet, but you hate how worked up he was and how scared he looked "Sleep here tonight," you say quietly and he relaxes more against you, raising his head and pressing his lips against your forehead.

Thinking about being childhood friends with Sabo and he's been in love with you since the day he met you, but you have no idea so for most of your friendship you've just been dating around trying to find your soulmate when he's been by your side the whole time. You can never figure out why you date such questionable men and why none of them ever feel right but your belief is so strong in the idea that one day you'll find the one that you just keep pushing through. You let yourself fall in love with the worst of the worst and complain to Sabo through it all. You complain about the bad dates and the weird hookups, how they buy you the wrong flowers all whilst you stay and put up with it until they inevitably break it off. But throughout all of these men and the dating you treat Sabo with such delicate care, you show your love for him so visibly and it's so clear how important you are to him. You make sure he eats, that he's ready for every meeting, that his clothes are mended, you organise birthdays and parties for his achievements. You love him so plainly and he knows everything about you.
However it's not in the way Sabo wants. Poor Sabo spends his life trying to distract himself with work but you infect that like an incurable disease, making sure he rests and that his needs are cared for. Then when he tries to fuck out any of the stress and frustration he has stored up it ends up with hookups with girls who look as close to you as he can get away with before anyone notices. You're so important to him and you exist everywhere in his life, even in his bed as he wishes the girl beneath him was you and that you weren't in someone else's bed after a fun night out. You exist in his head, in his heart and in his soul. You are all he will ever love and care about. He loves you so strongly but he knows it's not his time yet and when he does get it all of the years of waiting will have been worth it.
He loves you but he also knows he can't rush you on realising that you belong with him and you need to realise this on your own. One day you will and you'll confess to him so sincerely it will feel as if he's entered a cliche romantic movie. His whole world will light up and everything will feel a little bit brighter. He'll get you in his bed one day, make you cry with tears of happiness and pleasure and it will be better than anything he could ever spend his nights fantasying about. He just needs to wait and push through the torture as the future he dreams about draws closer and closer.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary. you visit sabo after his sudden collapse.
⤷ contents. sabo x gn!reader, fluff + angst, light angst
⤷ notes. hello!! sorry for the long wait, college has been very busy! this is for my flower prompts and requested by @resetjupiter! hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
It’d been three days since Sabo suddenly collapsed. You’d been exiled from his room in the medical bay, checking in far too often for the doctor’s liking and causing a disturbance with your constant pestering. Koala and Ivankov did their best to inform you of any updates for his condition, but for the past three days it’d been static. At least, until now.
You’d been pacing in the medical bay for the past two hours (the doctor said you couldn’t enter his room, but right outside the door was fair game), waiting for the ‘ok’ to enter.
Sabo’s health wasn’t something you ever had to worry about. He was one of the strongest soldiers in the Revolutionary Army and right-hand man to Monkey D. Dragon. The two of you were inseparable, unstoppable. No matter the challenges you faced, you always came out on top. Lady Luck was on your side, protecting you from any and all harm. So why did this happen?
Suddenly, the door to Sabo’s room creaked open. Koala’s head poked out, gently nodding for you to enter, which you hurriedly obliged. Upon entering, you saw Sabo laying in the hospital bed, looking unimaginably tired and stressed despite having slept for the last three days. You slowly approached his bed and sat on the edge, giving Koala a nod as she silently exited the room, leaving the two of you alone.
It was hard to look at Sabo. Strands of soft blonde hair obscured his face which made it difficult for him to see, but that was hardly a problem at the moment as he only stared blankly at the wall ahead of him. His eyes had dark circles around them, clearly stress-induced judging by the shaky frowned etched into his face. Yes, he was incredibly hard to look at, and yet you could see the man you loved hidden behind this shell.
Testing the waters, you stretched your hand over his palm, gently grazing him with your touch. Immediately, Sabo grasped your hand, pulling it up to his mouth, peppering it with light kisses. You felt your heart swell in your chest as your lover slowly raised his other hand to your cheek, carefully brushing it. No words were spoken, only a silent reassurance that you were both still here, in presence and spirit.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered hoarsely. His eyes slightly crinkled, likely from the stress of using his unused throat. But you could still see that familiar glimmer in his eyes, barely burning from the strain of the past three days.
“Don’t,” you mumbled, pulling him into a gentle hug, “don’t be sorry, ever. You’ve done nothing wrong.”
You could hear a tiny sniffle coming from Sabo as he dug his head into the crook of your neck. His arms came to your back, holding you close in an embrace. This was the first hug you shared since Sabo’s collapse, and it reassured you that he hadn’t left. That he wasn’t going anywhere. You heard him speak up from the safety of your shoulder, clutching onto you even tighter.
“I…remember now.” he took a deep breath in, preparing himself for his next words.
“Everything, from before I joined the Revolutionaries. I remember everything,” Sabo’s body began shaking, “My home, my family—my real family, my brothers—Ace!” he grasped onto you for any kind of stability in his moment of complete vulnerability, quivering in your arms as his tears flowed freely.
Slowly, his head parted from your shoulder, but his hands lingered. Your mind went blank as you attempted to comprehend his words. You were aware that Sabo couldn’t remember what happened during his childhood, that when Dragon brought him aboard he was an amnesiac who refused to return back to his family, but you knew nothing of his past. No one did.
“Have you told Dragon?” you asked carefully, resting your hand on his knee.
“No, I wanted you to know first. I’ll tell him and Ivankov later,” his hands fled to your own, running them across the creases in your fingers, “for now, I just want you to be here with me.”
In response to Sabo’s words, all you could do was stare into his eyes. You weren’t sure if it was possible to love Sabo more than you already had, but time and time again he proved you wrong. His devotion, to his family, friends, and you, was unmatched by all.
Sabo shuffled in the hospital bed, continuing to stare down at your hands. Slowly, his eyes met your own once again.
“Thank you,” he murmured, voice cracking, “for everything.”
You gave him a small smile, “Didn’t I already tell you to knock that off? You’ve got nothing to thank me for.”
“You told me not to apologize. Gratitude is still on the table.
Already Sabo was returning to his usual self, the lingering tears in his eyes drying as you two jabbed each other with sharp barbs, just like how things were before. You knew he was still your Sabo, but seeing and hearing is different than believing. Being able to see his unshakable grin was completely different than recalling a memory of it.
A soft knock at the door interrupted your lover's quarrel, your heads turning to see Dragon opening the door. He gave you a curt nod, and you knew he was silently asking for privacy. One glimpse at Sabo showed that he knew it too, laying a kiss on your hand before your incoming departure.
“Come visit again soon, yeah?” he smiled. “It’d be cruel to abandon a sick man.”
You brushed his stray hairs from his forehead, leaving room for a light peck on his forehead, “You poor thing, I'll bring you some fresh flowers when I come back,” you teased.
You slid off the bed and pranced towards the door, hearing it creak shut as you stepped out into the hallway. Walking through the halls of the infirmary gave you time to think about your parting words, pondering what bouquet would suit your rough, yet incredibly posh and polished, lover.
As you exited the building you spied numerous carnations lining the walkway, planted to raise the spirits of the injured and their families. What caught your eye, however, was a single sapphire flower in the middle of the swathes of carnations.
'A unique flower for a unique man,’ you chuckled to yourself, moving to carefully pluck the flower from its place.
"Just our luck," you whispered, bringing it to your lips for a single kiss.

Sabo X Female Insecure Plus Sized Reader

 “Y/N you need to pick something to wear soon, we don’t have much time before the banquet starts.” You turn your head over to Koala, who has been scolding you for the past half hour.
 “I don’t think I’ll go. I’m not feeling well.” Your lie was not far from the truth. You felt fine physically, but mentally not so much.
 “I’m not buying that crap Y/N. You are a part of the revolutionary army, you can’t just skip this” Koala walked over to your closet and started rummaging through it. “You're going if I have to drag you. Not even Sabo is fighting me about going. And you know how stubborn he is.”
 Your ears perk up hearing his name. Sabo is the reason you don’t want to go in the first place. Not that its his fault, it’s your own stupid crush on him that’s holding you back. You know if you go, you’ll end up romanticizing something that won’t happen-ultimately breaking your own heart. Silly as it may sound, you're just protecting yourself.
 “Hellloooo, earth to Y/N.” Your attention pans back to Koala who had one of your dresses held up to her small frame. “I think this one is it. It’s cute, but very professional.” You look at how gigantic the dress looks compared to her. The sight made you sick to your stomach.
 “It doesn't matter because I’m not going.” You grab the blanket on your bed and throw it over yourself. Hopefully she got the message this time.
 “Fine. I’m laying this dress out in case you change your mind.” You hear her shuffle before your doors slam shut, leaving you in the silence of your room.
 It's been about 20 minutes since Koala left and all you’ve done is stare mindlessly at the ceiling. Occasionally you would think of Sabo. “I wonder what he is wearing tonight?” “   “I bet he is wearing his fancy cologne that smells like cedar and musk.”
 “Dammit Y/N, quit thinking about him for one second.” You smack your hands against your cheeks as you scold yourself. No matter how desperately you try, the chief of staff has made a home in your head and heart with no plans of leaving.
 You want to confess, you want to pour your heart out to him. But you are all too familiar with the outcome. You think of all the times as a little girl, where you’d confess to a boy only to be laughed at or how you were treated weird for liking someone. The dehumanizing experience of being an overweight girl.
 Even after all the heartbreaks and unrequited love you experienced in your life, you still have an annoying small glimmer of hope. No matter how many times you tell yourself he would not want you, and no matter how many times you remind yourself you're not good enough for him- you still have a chance. Sometimes it felt like putting out a fire with gasoline. Maybe you should just tell him how you feel. The sooner your heart is broken, the quicker you can start healing it.
 Knock Knock Knock
 “I already told you Koala, I’m not going!” You yell from your bed. She is persistent as ever. Despite your yell, the doors open anyways. “Koala?” It’s hard to tell who it is considering the time of night and lack of light in your room. You hear a few heavy steps before the door shuts back. Your breath hitches in your throat along with a sense of unease.
 “Koala, if you're trying to scare me it's not funny. Cut it out!” The steps were slow and calculated. Like a lion approaching its prey. You begin to wonder if you're really being pranked or if you were actually under attack. You squint your eyes and see an outline of a tall shadow. Considering its size, there is no way its Koala. The steps come to a halt right in front of your bed. It stood for a few moments, like it was planning something. Your body is telling you to get up and fight, but you are frozen to the bed. You could feel a shift in the room and an unfamiliar weight on the end of the bed. You feel the bed dip with every movement of the shadow. It drew closer and closer.
  You manage to whimper out as the shadow straddles your frame . Normally this would make you feel self conscious, in this case you were so scared it did not even matter. You could feel hot breath fan over you. It’s over now, you can’t have a broken heart if you're dead... At Least the shadow smells nice. Wait. You know this smell.
 “BOO!” A small puff of fire revealed Sabo’s face. Your strength finds you again as you sling the laughing Blonde off of you. He landed right on the floor with a small “Ow”. You jump up from the bed, and  grab the closest thing you have as a weapon. A broom.
 “Sabo you little jerk.” You hold the broom ready to fight him. His laughing fit had stopped, he was now fixated on your movements. “You scared me.”
 “You know Y/N, you're supposed to clean up the floor after you kill me. Not the other way around.” You could only roll your eyes as he smirked.
 “Is that so huh? Any other last words you want to say before you die then Sabo?” You stood over him jabbing the end of the broom in his handsome face.
 “Why yes I do. That gown you're wearing is very cute, but not for the banquet .” You were unaware of your circumstance until he said that. You jump back into the bed and cover yourself up. Sabo pulled his body from the floor and sat at the edge of your bed. “I guess you're sparing me from certain death. Thank you Y/N.”
 “Haven’t you teased me enough Sabo?” You pull the blanket up to your chin and glare at the man. Sabo laughed and shook his head, confirming he was done. “Good. So what are you really here for?”
 “I was heading to my room to get ready for the said banquet tonight and met Koala. She seemed pretty worked up.” Sabo crossed his arms in a dissatisfied way. “She said you refused to go. She also mentioned you seemed gloomy. Is everything okay Y/N?”
 “I’m fine. I apologize if I caused any concerns. I honestly just needed a moment to myself.” Your eyes met your lap. You want to come right out and say it, but you can’t. The words are there, but you won’t let them leave.
 “Okay then. It’s settled.” Sabo stood up and stretched his arms. “As the chief of staff of the revolutionary army, I order you to get dressed and accompany me to the party.” The statement sends a shockwave through your body, but at the same time you shoot him a confused look.
 “And If I refuse?” Your body is screaming to accept his offer, but your guarded heart is telling you otherwise.
 “I’ll fire you.” You know he was joking, but it didn’t stop you from throwing a pillow in his face.  “But in all seriousness I want you to come. It will be fun, I promise.” He was making it hard to say no, his soft smile had you hook, line and sinker.
 “Okay, I’ll get ready.” Sabo seems very pleased that you agreed. His eyes then start wandering around your bedroom before they lock on to your dress.
 “Is that the dress you're wearing?” He walked up to the dress and studied the fabric between his gloves fingers.
 “Umm- yes why?” Sabo smiled and let the dress go. Did he not like it?
 “No reason, just curious.” The look on Sabo’s face concerns but excites you. That face is the one he has when he is plotting something. “I’ll leave you to it. I need to go get ready myself. I’ll wait for you in the corridor.” He winked and walked out of the room, leaving you in shock.
 You jump to your feet and hurry over to the dress. Maybe that glimmer of hope is more than a mere glimmer. You throw your nightgown off and onto the bed. You put the dress on and smooth it over your body. The only thing missing now was some jewelry. You walk over to the box you kept your valuables in. It's mainly filled with little trinkets you find when you are on a mission. You rummage until you find exactly what you're looking for. You pull out a simple pearl necklace with matching earrings. Sabo had bought them for you when he went to fishman island sometime ago. You hold the delicate pearls with a smitten grin. Maybe this was not just a friendly gift. You clasp the necklace on and place the earrings in. After applying some make up, you head out and towards the place Sabo said he would meet you.
  As you walk towards the corridor you regret not bringing a jacket. You could see every breath that left your lips. You could only hope Sabo wasn’t far behind. You perch yourself up on a brick pillar that connects between the corridor and the banquet venue. You watch as many familiar and unfamiliar faces walk by.  Sometimes you forget how many members there are in the revolutionary army. The welcome sound of ballroom music began to fill your ears. The melody was beautiful, you could only imagine dancing and falling in love while this played in the background. You close your eyes and enjoy the music. Your eyes open when the music ends. You heard the crowd clap before it went quiet again.  With the new found silence you can hear footsteps echoing in the corridor. You see Sabo come around the corner. You could only gawk at him. He was not wearing his signature hat and his blonde hair was slick back partially. He wore a black tuxedo with a vest that matches the color of your dress. “So that’s why he asked.” His eye met yours, he seemed to be gawking at you as well. You could feel the heat rising to your cheeks the closer he got. With every step he took, he captivated you more. And before you could burn the image into your head, he stood right in front of you.
 “This looks familiar.” He reached out to grab the pearl necklace. “I knew it would look gorgeous on you.” He placed a chaste kiss on one of the pearls. The actions snatched any words from your tongue. You begin to wonder if Sabo wanted your heart to beat out of your chest and right into his hand.
 “Thank you.” You look away in hopes he doesn't catch on to your embarrassment, but the chuckle that left his lips told you it was too late.
 “We better get inside, I’m sure you're cold.” He held his arm out for you, which you gladly took.
 The venue was packed full. People were dancing,drinking and just overall having a good time. After all the hardships and battles, it's nice to have a night where everyone can relax and enjoy themselves. You notice a lot of eyes on you and Sabo as you walk further in. Some people looked happily at you, while others did not seem as thrilled. But none of that matters, right now you were happy to be by his side, even if it's just this one night.
 “Want to go dance?” Sabo leaned down to whisper in your ear.
 “Umm, I don’t really know how.” Sabo seemed amused by your response. Most of your life has been on a battlefield, not a dance floor.
 “It’s okay, I will lead you.” His hand grabbed yours, giving a small squeeze of reassurance. You looked into his eyes, still a little hesitant. Your insecurities creeped in. Sabo would have to hold onto you in order to dance. The dance floor was filled with couples dancing. You see all the petite figures being held close, like they were made out of glass. They are so delicate compared to you. You look away from Sabo, who retaliates by grabbing your chin. “What’s going on in that pretty mind?”
 “I worry I’m not good enough.” You're not just talking about dancing. “Plus what if I trip and get hurt.”
 “Trust me when I say I’m good enough for the both of us. You know I used to be a noble, right?” Sabo grins and places a hand in the middle of your back, guiding you towards the dance floor.
“And you're safe with me, always.” You can’t help but smile at his declaration.
 “I trust you then. Don’t disappoint me Mr. Chief of Staff.” You notice a small blush creep up on his cheeks.
 “Trust me, I don’t plan to.” Sabo retorted.
 “Hee Haw! I hope you are enjoying yourselves tonight!” You and Sabo turn towards the stage where Iva was speaking. They are always the life of the party.  “A party like this won’t happen again for a while so make the most of it! Drink and dance your worries away! But don’t get too crazy kids. Bye now~” Iva jumped from the stage signaling the band to start back up.
 Sabo grabbed your left hand and guided it to his arm. After he placed it where he wanted it he held out his other hand for you to grab. Your shaky hand laces with his calmer one. You look him in his eyes as if to say “What now?”. Sabo smiled at you before leaning down.
 “Relax your body and give me control.” You nod, after a few deep breaths you  let yourself relax in Sabo’s strong hold.  “Good girl.” The pet name slid off his tongue so effortlessly. He is too suave for his own good sometimes.
 The music filled the ballroom once more.  You and Sabo locked eyes and nodded at each other. He guided your body along with his. At first it was awkward for you, but as he swayed you around effortlessly the feeling vanished. That’s how good Sabo is. He's a smooth man with a velvet tongue. Why lie to yourself any longer, you were living out a dream with the man you've fallen for. All the pent up giddiness was starting to leak out as your lips curled into a genuine smile. You looked up at Sabo who had a smile on his face, one that made all the light in the room seem dull. You were sure of it now. Sabo liked you back.
 The current melody ended, letting the band prepare for the next song.
 “The next song is going to be slower.” Sabo adjusted his hold on you again, one of his hands snaked around you. You fight back any negative thoughts and let yourself feel his warm touch. With his free hand he guided one of your hands so it rested on his shoulder. Happy with the placement he then grabbed your hand and laced it back with his. “One last thing, I need to be closer to me.” The hand that was wrapped around you pulled you closer to him. Your plush body was right up against him and you couldn’t be happier.
 As Sabo said, the music was slower. It was a nice change of pace. Between the calmness of the melody and Sabo’s gentle sway, you were becoming tired. You lay your head against Sabo’s chest and close your eyes.
 “Someone looks comfortable.” You open your eyes and pull away. You look up at him and apologize only for him to place a kiss on your forehead. He let go of your hand long enough to place your head back onto his warm chest. “Don’t apologize, I was just admiring how cute you are.” His actions and words were all the reassurance you needed.
  A new feeling bubbles in your chest. In the past falling in love was something that only brought you heartache. And you thought it would be the case with Sabo, but you are experiencing it. And it is absolutely beautiful. The music began to wind down, before coming to an end.
 “Are you ready for a break?” You were unaware how tired you were until Sabo mentioned it.
 “I am. If you want to go find us a table, I’ll go grab us something to drink.” You point towards the mini bar.  “Do you want anything in particular?”
 “Not really. When you get back I have a surprise for you.” He winked before disappearing in the crowd. You could not help but wonder what the surprise could be? You shake your thoughts and navigate through the crowded room.
  You walk up to the bartender and order two champagnes. The bartender poured the liquid into delicate glasses with ease. You grabbed the glasses and handled them with care.
 “Is that for Koala and Sabo?” You turn around to face the voice that spoke. The woman before you had a forgettable name, but her attitude and love of Sabo was a different story. Anyone would be able to see that she only wants him for his rank and benefits.
 “No, it's for me and Sabo. Now, if you'll excuse me I need to get back to him.” You start to walk away before she grabs your hand. You turn around and give her a nasty look.
 “I guess you haven't heard.” Her words get you curious.
 “Haven’t heard what?” The woman pulls out a cigarette and places it between her lips. The fire from her lighter came to life.
 “I guess they were hiding it from you. Sabo and Koala are getting engaged tonight.” A puff of smoke blows in your face. Your feet are frozen to the floor at her words. “I know it broke my heart too, but I think we both knew it was going to be him and her at the end of the day. I’ll admit they make a cute couple.” She pointed over to an area. You turn and see Sabo and Koala sitting at a table talking and smiling. Your eyes fixated on them. Engaged? “I have a surprise for you” You think about what Sabo said, so that was the surprise.
 You picture them getting married. You standing alone while Sabo wrapped the same arms that once held you around Koala as he kissed her. All of this while you watched from the sidelines. Because that’s where the fat friend belongs. Tears began to form in your eyes.
 “And If you think I’m lying, look.” The woman points to the table they are at. You notice a small jewelry box in Sabo’s hand. Koala looks at it and smiles. You turn your head away, you could not handle watching what was about to happen.  All the joy and hope that had filled you was gone in an instant. Your insecurities came crashing down again. You lost, like you always do
 “I should have known it was too good to be true.” You drink down both glasses of champagne and place them on the bar counter. “I want an entire bottle of wine please.” The bartender curled a brow before walking behind the bar.
 “Will this d-” You snatch the wine from the man's hands before letting him finish. You say a quick thank you before storming out of the venue.
 You rush outside of the venue doors clutching the bottle. The chilly night air encased you once again. You know it had to be below freezing, but it's not like anything matters anymore. You walk until you find a bench beside a fountain. You take the cork out of the wine, the pressure causes it  to shoot up into the air. You hear a small splash and see it had landed in the fountain. “I guess I need to make a wish.”
 “I wish… I wish someone would come and love me. The same way I love Sabo.” Hot tears ran down your cold face. “Please… just once I want to know what it’s like to be loved.” You throw your head back and gulp down some of the wine. The bitter taste was more than welcome.
 ~Meanwhile in the venue~
 “She sure is taking a while, Sabo.” Koala looked amongst the sea of people, trying to find you.
 “I agree, I’m going to go see if I can find her.” Sabo stood up and used his height to his advantage. He scanned the ballroom and saw no sign of you. “I’ll be right back.”
 Sabo walked up to the mini bar in hopes you were there. He sadly noticed an unpleasant familiar face. He tried to avoid her attention but it was too late.
 “Well if it isn’t Sabo. You sure do look handsome tonight. But you always do~” Sabo rolled his eyes. He had politely rejected her many times before, but right now he did not have any tolerance to deal with her.
 “Listen, I’m looking for someone.” The woman smirked before cutting Sabo off.
 “I took care of her, she won’t get in our way the rest of the night.” She winked before taking a sip of her drink. “Sabo, you deserve someone thin and beautiful. Someone like me. I don’t know what that chubby thing could offer you.” That was the last straw.
 “I’d stop talking if I were you.” The rage in Sabo’s eyes had the woman frozen in her seat. “And for your information, Y/N is way more beautiful than you could ever imagine being. I don’t even remember your name, but my sweet Y/N’s I could say it until I lost my voice. Now you tell me where she is?”
 She did not speak a word. Instead she got up and ran away with tears in her eyes. Sabo smirked, it served her right. Hell hath no fury like Sabo, especially when someone talks bad about the woman he adores.
 “Excuse me sir, I think I know where she went. But there is something you might want to know first.” The bartender flagged Sabo down. The bartender went over the conversation between you and the other woman. Sabo was enraged after hearing the whole story. No wonder you never came back, you are probably somewhere devastated and alone. The thought of that made his stomach twist. He needed to set things right and fast. “I think I saw her go out that door over there. And one more thing you might want to know sir. She downed two glasses of champagne and took a whole bottle of wine  with her. I’m sorry, I should have never given it to her.” Sabo’s eyes shot open at his words.
 “SHE WHAT?”
Outside the venue
 “WooooooooWW  *hic* I feel like I’m floating. Hheehehe~” You hold the over half empty bottle of wine up. Your face was hot despite the freezing temperature outside. “I’m *Hic* gonna have a hangover for weeeeekkss after this.”
 You know this is not changing anything. You can’t stop Sabo and Koala from getting engaged, nor would you. You needed to be happy for them. They are both amazing people, so they deserve each other. No doubt she will ask you to be a bridesmaid, and you'll fulfill your duty to the bitter end. You will never have Sabo’s heart and you have no choice but to live with it. Your lip trembles as fresh tears roll down your flush cheeks. The half empty bottle in your hands falls to the ground breaking in front of you. Sobs wracked your body as your pain and heartache became too much to handle emotionally.
 “You're a fool Y/N.*Hic* Thinking he was going to choose you.” You somehow manage to stand up, you wobble for a moment. You feel a sharp pain in your foot as you take a step. You peer down and notice you have stepped on the broken bottle. A small piece had gone through your shoe . You wince and almost lose your balance when you pull the glass out. It thankfully did not go deep, but you were still bleeding quite a bit.
 The faint sounds of the venue's music filled your red ears. You remember how safe and warm you felt dancing with Sabo. And now here you are not even an hour later cold, drunk and emotionally vulnerable.
 “Y/N dear, what are you doing out here?” You spin your head to see a concerned looking Iva.
 “I just needed to get some air, I’m okay.” You sit back down on the bench and motion for them to join you.
 “Oh honey you’ve been crying? What’s wrong?” Those two words, that’s all it takes for you to break down again.
 “Iva..” Your voice trembles along with your body. “Why am I always the one getting left behind?” You look at Iva through tear filled eyes. “Maybe if I wasn’t so fat and flawed things would have been different. *Hic*. I hate myself so much. Every time I look in the mirror and see my imperfect body and all the stretch marks, I understand why no one would want me. I’m a monster.”
 “Sweetie don’t say all those nasty things about yourself.” Iva places her hand on your back and rubs it circles to soothe you. “Let’s get you back inside where it is warm.”
 “Iva I have a favor to ask?” You grab Iva’s arm before they can get up.
 “Favors later dear, you're freezing.” Iva tries to help you up, but you refuse.
 “Iva, please listen to me.” You swallow your pride and look up to Iva with pleading eyes. “Make me beautiful and thin please. You can do that right?” Iva’s eyes widened at your request. “Please use your power on me. I don’t care if it takes a few years or even half of my life, I just want to be pretty. I want to know what it’s like to love my body.  Iva please I’m begging you. I should have asked you sooner, maybe Sabo would have chosen me instead.” You see a few tears roll down Iva’s face.
 “Y/N, my power does not work like that. I cannot make you something you already are.” Iva hugs your shivering body. “And besides I think he already chose you dear. Isn’t that right you little eavesdropper?.” Your eyes shot open to see Sabo standing right behind Iva. Sabo started to walk closer and closer causing Iva to step away. “I’ll leave you two alone. It seems you two love birds have a lot to talk about. ” There was nothing between him and you now. Your eyes meet his for a moment, but you avert them to the ground causing Sabo to let out a long sigh.
 “Look at me Y/N.” Sabo’s gloved hand gently tilts your chin up, giving you no choice but to face him. “I heard everything, and it breaks my heart that you think that way of yourself. But when I look at you… Why don’t you feel for yourself?” Sabo placed your hand on his chest, you could feel his heart racing under your palm.
 “Sabo I don’t understand? You and Koala are..” You feel Sabo wipe a few stray tears from your face.
 “That was a lie, that woman was toying with you in hopes to get to me. I’ll have someone take care of her later..” Sabo had a sadistic smirk. “Now Y/N, how much did you drink? Also why is your foot bleeding?” Sabo kneeled to the ground and inspected your foot.
 “Umm, alot.” You let out a nervous laugh. “ And I accidentally stepped on a piece of glass. It doesn’t hurt tho.” You watch as sabo pulls a handkerchief from his coat pocket. He then gently wraps it around your foot.
 “Yeah I’d say it doesn't hurt considering you're wasted.” You roll your eyes at Sabo before he slips your shoe back on. “Do you have a first aid kit in your room?”
 “I do.” Sabo stood up and held his hand out for you to grab. You hesitate for a moment before taking it.
 “Good, I’ll patch you up better when I get you back to your room.” Sabo pulled you from the bench and went to pick you up, causing you to panic.
 “Sabo don’t. You can’t.” I'm too heavy for you." You try to step away, but yelp when you feel the pain in your foot. Sabo reached out to hold you steady.
 “Too heavy for me? You wounded my pride Y/N.” Sabo pouts, taking full offense to your comment. “I won’t force you Y/N, especially if you're not comfortable with it. I just don’t want you to walk all the way back on your hurt foot if you don’t have to. And I assure you that you are not too heavy for me. But if you don’t want me to at least grab onto me for support.” Deep down you really want to be carried by him. But you know your body type and size isn’t ideal for carrying. You look at Sabo who flexes his arms to display his strength.. You know Sabo is strong, he has the muscles and abs to prove it. You’ve watched him do crazy things that are well beyond human limits. Such as destroying a literal colosseum when you were in Dressrosa. You remember the time when he reunited with Iva after they broke out of Impel Down. He picked them up and spun around like crazy.
 “Okay, as long as you are sure.” You watch as Sabo’s face lights up. “Just be careful.”
 “Of course. Are you ready?” You nod your head and shut your eyes tight. You feel one of his arms rest behind your back and the other one behind your knees. You felt your knees go weak, giving Sabo the chance to scoop you up into his arms. “I’ve got you princess. You can open your eyes.” Your eyes open to see Sabo smiling down at you like a dork. You couldn't help but laugh at his expression. “What's got you laughing?” Sabo started walking, causing your hand to reach up and clutch his dress shirt.
 “You just seem to be enjoying this. I won’t lie, I am too. You're so warm.” Sabo pulls you even closer to his body.
 “I am enjoying this.” Sabo spun around causing you to giggle. You don’t know if it’s the fact he was holding you so close or if it's the wine. But you feel it’s time to properly confess.
 “Sabo, I need to tell you something.” Sabo stopped walking and peered down at you. “I’ve been In love with you for a while now. I’m sure you already know. Even though I’m very drunk and I have cried a lot- I’ve had one of the best nights of my life. It’s okay if you are unsure or don’t feel the same. I’m sorry if I made things awkward” Sabo was sporting a very serious face, causing your anxiety to skyrocket. “Umm Sabo, are you good?”
 “Yeah, I’m fine. You are just making it really hard for me not to kiss you.” Your entire face bursts with warmth.
 “Why don’t you then.” You grab Sabo’s tie to make him look down at you.
 “Because you're drunk darling. Once you sober up I’ll give you as many as you can handle.” Sabo continues walking with a grin on his face.
 “*Hic* Fineee.” You pout about it, but you're thankful that Sabo is such a gentleman.
 You and Sabo reach the lobby of the RA’s living quarters. You, Sabo, Koala and a few other RA members live on the main top floor. Sabo looks at the elevator and then at the stairs.
 “Is something wrong?” You poke his chest to get his attention.
 “Do you remember when the elevator was down for a week?” You nod your head. How could you forget, it was hell having to climb up those 40 stories. “So during that time I learnt a cool little trick.” The elevator makes a ding and opens, but Sabo ignores it and walks over to the steps.
 “Sabo? What are you doing?” Sabo didn’t speak, but the look on his face said everything you need to know. He was about to do something reckless. “Sabo what are you planning?”
 “Hold on tight Y/N.” You watch as his lower half turns into flames. You could feel the warmth from the flames on your cold skin. “Here we go!” You felt a rush of air before realizing you were flying up the steps. You hear Sabo laughing like the maniac he is, while you on the other hand were clinging on to him for dear life, muffling a scream in his shirt. You open your eyes enough to see that you're out of the stairwell and in the hallway. Sabo is still flying with you held close. And then all at once you halt. You open your eyes and realize you are right in front of your door.
 “Umm Y/N, you're choking me.” Sabo struggles to speak thanks to your hand being wrapped tightly around his tie. You let it go letting the poor man catch his breath. “Wow, that was fun.”
 “Yeah maybe for YOU! I’m drunk, you know.” Your hand lightly smacks his chest.
 “I’m sorry. I got a little carried away.” You couldn’t stay mad at the apologetic smile he gave you.
 “I forgive you. Now I think I’m ready for bed. I already feel the hangover creeping up on me” Sabo leaned you over so you could turn your handle, only for it to not move. “Uh oh. I think I left my key in my room. I’m locked out.”
 “No worries, you can sleep in my room.” Sabo started walking down the hallway without a second thought.. “I have a first aid kit too, so don’t worry.” You're kinda glad you locked your key up, now you get to see what his room looks like. Sabo stops at the very last door in the hall. “This is it, my key is my vest pocket.”
 Your hand slides into the pocket to retrieve the key. Once Sabo got you close enough you inserted the key and let the door click open. Sabo kicked the door open the rest of the way and then closed it with his foot. His room smells like clean laundry with a hint of smoke. Sabo walked you over to the king sized bed that sat in the middle of the room. You're a little jealous, being chief of staff has its perks. He gently laid you down and took your shoes off.
 “Let me get that first aid kit.” Sabo walked over to a dresser and began rummaging through it. You let your eyes wander around the room. You noticed a rack that is full of his signature top hats and some of his overcoats. But what stood out the most was his brothers wanted posters hung up above his desk.  You know all about Luffy and his late brother Ace. You smile knowing how much he loves them Your attention turns back to Sabo as he held up the first aid kit proudly. “Aa ha, found it.”
 Sabo walked over to the bed and sat down. He picked your foot up carefully and propped it on his knee.  He opened the first aid kit and pulled out some gauze and wound cleaner.
 “This may sting a little.” He gently cleaned your wound causing you to wince in pain. “I’m sorry, I’m almost done.” He grabbed the gauze and began to secure it around your foot. “Alright all done.” Sabo got up from the bed and covered you up with a warm blanket.
 “Thank you. For everything.” You could feel your body starting to succumb to sleep.
 “Your welcome sweet girl. No you better get some rest. I’ve got some work I need to finish up.” You nod your head and get in a comfortable position. “Sweet dreams.” Sabo gave your forehead a quick kiss before walking over to his desk.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 The moment your eyes opened you could already feel your head splitting. “Note to self, never drink again.” You lift your body from the bed and inspect your surroundings. You know you're in Sabo’s room, but where is he?. You were beginning to think he  was gone to work already until you heard the loud snores coming from his desk. You got up and walked over to him, his blonde curls were ruffled and messy. The feather pen he held was still loosely clutched in his hand. You reach your hand out to wake him up and you notice something that stops your movements. On your right hand index finger was a ring. The heart shaped gem glistened with the morning sun that peaked through the window.
 “Do you like it?” You were so enamored with the ring you failed to see Sabo wake up.
 “I love it. Sabo I'm at a loss for words.” He watches you  with a smile on his face.
 “The gem is infused with a piece of my vivre card.” Sabo walked over to you and grabbed your hand. “Point your finger at me.”  The moment you pointed at him, the stone started to glow. “Now no matter where I am in the world, you'll always have a way to find me.”
 “Sabo… Stop making me fall so in love with you.” Sabo didn’t say a word, instead he leaned down and pulled you into a breath snatching kiss. When you finally pull apart you're both gasping for air.
 “I could say the same to you.” Sabo pulled you into a hug, but the moment was ruined thanks to his transponder snail ringing.
 “Dammit.” Sabo growled as he picked up the transponder snail. “Sabo here.”
 “Sabo, come to my office as soon as possible.” Dragons gruff voice spoke on the other line.
 “I'll be there right away.” Sabo hung up and let out a long sigh. “I better get going. Why don’t you take the day off to rest up.”
 “Is that a recommendation or an order?” You raise your brow to him. Sabo laughed before dragging  you back to his bed.
 “There ya go. Does that answer your question?” You nod before curling into the warm covers. “Alright I better get going. Rest up. I’ll be back before you know it.  Sabo gave you one last kiss before leaving out the door.
"I can't wait to see you light up again" You peer down at the ring. You watch as the gem sparkled for a brief moment. A content smile formed on your lips.
"I really do love you Sabo."
“the kiss i didn’t give you has become a star inside me…” — dulce maría loynaz
Tumblr media
for sabo, life is all about routine; not in the mundane sense, but in his quest for needing to have consistent control over every aspect of his life, he thrives on having a path laid out for him. he can’t help it — it’s something that was carefully ingrained into him since he was a child. he blames his parents, blames the world he was born into, blames the world nobles for uprooting his newfound family and separating him from his brothers. yet, he holds steadfast in the work he does, finds pleasure in seeking justice wherever he can, and makes it a point to not make the sort of romantic connections that will keep him distracted.
his colleagues don’t bother prying him for more information on his previous life, and they know that he actively keeps people at an arm’s length for some unknown reason — not that they can judge him, their line of work is dangerous and there’s very little room for mistakes, or weakness for that matter.
you’re not sure what you did exactly to land on sabo’s radar, but once he set his eyes on you there was no option for turning back. not that you mind, of course — you just hate the way you can’t seem to penetrate any of the walls he’s securely built around himself. he gives very little of himself but demands everything from you.
to anyone else, this would be reason enough to cut him out of their life; but you, unfortunately, cannot let him go. if you do, you’re afraid he’ll never let you back in — not after you fought so hard for him to stay by your side.
in his mind, you’re someone that he can quit anytime; it’s a lie he likes to tell himself whenever he’s feeling particularly lonely or vulnerable. he hates that despite how hard he fights to keep you from plaguing his thoughts, you still manage to find a way — especially late at night, when he can’t seem to sleep. insomnia has always had a strong, punishing grip around him, often leaving him breathless from the way he can’t seem to stop thinking about you.
at first, it was because you kept insisting on talking to him socially; then it was because he allowed you to take meals with him privately, a feat that did not go unnoticed by the others, much to his annoyance; and then it was because you had the audacity to kiss his cheek one night, after talking with him for hours. your demure behavior — the sweet, shy smile you gave him afterwards, the way you couldn’t look at him in the eyes properly the following day —ignites something deep within him that he never knew existed.
an ache makes its way into his chest, and he finds himself rubbing at it absently periodically, as if the burden of those emotions would take his life someday. while he might not outwardly show it, he looks forward to your incessant chatter — you talk about everything and nothing, something that baffles and amuses him to no end. with anyone else, he’d zone out of their conversation five minutes in, but you captivate him in an illogical way — one that has him watching you from across the room without meaning to, thinking about impractical things.
it's sabo who kisses you first, on a surprisingly quiet afternoon, in a back hallway that very few frequent during the day. a mistake, he tells himself when you part your lips for him without prompting; unnecessary, but he has you against the wall, with his knee in between your thighs; dangerous, yet he keeps kissing you anyway. he holds you still with a firm hand on the back of your neck, goosebumps tickling your skin every time his tongue caresses yours.
when you place your hands on his chest, arching into his hold as his other hand makes a slow descent down your back, he remembers himself. it takes effort but he’s able to extract himself from you in one swift motion, suddenly aware that he’s crossed a line he swore he’d never cross. after putting a good foot of distance between you two, he leaves abruptly and without giving you another thought.
or, so you think.
you don’t move from that spot for a few minutes, hands balled into fists at your sides, nails sinking into your palms out of frustration. you tell yourself that you absolutely cannot fall in love with that man. but it happens far too quickly and you’re incapable of fortifying yourself properly in time. he doesn’t kiss you again after that, not really anyway; he takes to catching you off guard when you walk back to your room late at night.
the first time he does it, he wraps an arm around your waist and pulls you to him. you screech in surprise and slap him on reflex. mischievous and a little stunned, sabo laughs at your reaction — your face grows hot from the embarrassment. his idea of an apology is pulling you close enough for him to drag his lips along the side of your neck. any residual irritation immediately dissipates the moment he places a kiss on your skin, an act that saps all your common sense, and transforms you into a marionette of his liking.
after that, you come to expect his surprise visits; you let him sit you on top of his desk, legs shaking as he thrusts his fingers in and out of your tight hole. you’ve long since forgotten to keep your voice down as you lean back on your hands, mind hazy as you watch the way your arousal drips onto his palm. if he wasn’t so intent on keeping his promise to himself, he’d kiss you all over again; but he knows if he does, there will be no turning back.
and this sort of weakness is out of the question for him.
you realize quickly that he’ll always distance himself from you emotionally, refusing to hold you for long, always pulling back whenever his lips are too close to yours. despite the bruise on your heart never healing, you can’t seem to let him go.
sabo fucks you like you’re an addiction he can’t seem to quit. no matter how many times he tells himself to leave, he makes his way back to you, hips rutting against yours frenetically, his cock buried deeply, making you moan his name loud enough to mesmerize him.
witchcraft, he muses to himself on occasion, fully believing that you’ve cast some spell on him.
his selfishness wins out when you sink down onto your knees in front of him one morning, stroking his cock with your soft hand before pressing your lips against the tip. whatever residual restraint he has is gone after your tongue swipes against his slit. the moan that slips out of his mouth invigorates you, makes you wrap your plush lips around his cock, sucking on the head teasingly before taking in more of his length.
you watch him with lowered lids, moaning around his cock, the vibration slicing through his logic as he grabs onto the back of your head so he can properly fuck your mouth. loosening your jaw, you hold onto the backs of his thighs for support, a heat passing over you every time sabo’s hips snap forward. your mouth is warm and moist, a combination that has him moaning your name without thinking. your heart speeds up and he ignores the warmth that spreads through him when he looks at your face; he constantly marvels at your beauty, at your soft skin, at how pliant and obedient you can be.
it annoys him that he’s found himself this deeply invested in you; when he pulls his cock out of your mouth, you take several deep breaths, a few tears sliding down your cheeks, a bit of saliva gliding down your bottom lip. the look he gives you is fierce and somewhat feral, and suddenly a nervousness that you don’t anticipate infiltrates your thoughts when he tells you to get on the bed.
he doesn’t have to tell you to get on your hands and knees, but he does it anyway; you severely underestimate the way his voice affects you — always a commanding, impressive force that leaves you breathless as you rub your ass against his stiff cock. you know you’re toeing a dangerous line by doing that, but you’re beyond caring. sabo glides his cock between your folds, arousal coating his length immediately.
you whimper shamelessly, fingers curling into the sheets as you plead with him. “sabo, please, i can’t take it anymore.” whatever else you want to say comes out as a garbled noise and you choke on his name as he snaps his hips forward, thrusting his cock into you roughly. you squirm when he pulls on your hair, yanking you back to him, lips nipping at your skin.
“stop running,” he says gruffly, his words almost making you laugh.
you could tell him the same since you theorized a while ago that he’s perfected the art of running. he doesn’t kiss you when you turn your head to look at him — he rocks his hips forward, the tip of his cock reaching a spot that has you clawing at his arms, your cunt squeezing around his girth in retaliation. he doesn’t kiss you when he has you on your back, legs draped over his shoulders as he pounds into you mercilessly, your voice growing hoarse, body writhing underneath him every time he sucks on your skin.
you wish you could hate him for making you fall in love with him, because only love could make someone foolish enough to carry on a relationship like this. you fall a little more in love with him every time, but he always finds a way to shatter your heart when he turns away from you on the bed. he tells you constantly that you can stay or leave, that the choice is ultimately up to you as it doesn’t affect him either way.
it must be madness that drives you to stay, wrapping yourself with the covers, breathing slowing as your eyes close. he turns around carefully, watching you with a tenderness that forces him to drape an arm around you, lips ghosting the curve of your ear as he whispers softly.
“i like having you around.”
you open your eyes but don’t dare turn around, afraid that he’ll leave if he realizes that you’re still awake — because if he ever takes those words back, you’ll never survive the fallout. so, you will your heart to stop beating loudly, and tell yourself that this must mean he’s lowering more of his walls for you intentionally. you don’t know how long he’ll allow himself to be this vulnerable with you, but regardless you’ll always cherish the time he’s spent with you.
You’re Jealous
 Summary: You get jealous of someone else in his life.
Characters: Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Ace, Sabo, Law, and Kid
Genre: Slight Angst // Fluff
CW: None // SFW
———
Luffy:
He never told you Boa Hancock was in love with him, and when you find out, you have to remove yourself from the situation before you have an emotional outburst and start something with the Pirate Empress. The problem is, you don’t even know which emotion will spill out of you. Finding out the world’s most beautiful woman, and a powerful Warlord, no less, is desperate to marry Luffy is a whirlwind, to say the least. Luffy can seem clueless at times, but his emotional intelligence is through the roof, and he picks up on what has you upset almost straight away. He knows to give you some space, and when he senses you’re ready, he approaches you with a handful of wildflowers he picked. He doesn’t really say much, just pulls you into a hug, presses a few kisses into your cheek and temple, and says in your ear, you’re my girl.”
Zoro:
He didn’t mention Perona was also at Mihawk’s castle for those two years until a few months after the crew gets together. He tells a story that features her, and you realize there was a woman keeping him company. Your heart drops into your stomach. Zoro insists he didn’t mention her because he didn’t think she was relevant; the only thing Perona did those two years was annoy him. He’s actually the one who won’t let it go, not you (even though you are pretty jealous). Whereas you’d prefer not to talk about it, Zoro is wracked with guilt because he’d never considered the whole thing in a relationship context. Him fretting constantly over it actually heals your jealousy because you realize you’ve never seen him panic over the prospect of hurting anyone else’s feelings.
Sanji:
Even with a third eye, Pudding is stunning. And Sanji almost married her. It was before you two were together, but listening to the stories from Whole Cake, hearing how close he came to marrying another woman, knowing she really did fall in love with his kind heart and wonderful cooking, turns you into a little green monster. You know you shouldn’t feel jealous of a woman you’ve never met before, a woman Sanji chose not to marry, but you can’t help it. Sanji is completely shocked that you would feel jealous over his relationship (if it could even be called that) with Pudding, though after thinking about it some more, he does realize why you might be jealous that he had a fiancé. His solution is to bring you a bouquet of roses and walk you through the dark details of his life, telling you things he’s never outright told anyone, so you understand the special place you have in his life.
Ace:
He collects people without trying, and often times, without realizing, either. Ace thinks he’s just making friends, but you see the way the women he laughs and shares drinks with are drawn to him like plants to the sun. He promises them freedom and adventure (and he has a very nice laugh), and you can see how it excites them. You don’t really mind it, knowing Ace well enough to see the way he holds those women at arm’s length, even if he seems close with them (such is the magic of Fire First Ace). But Yamato makes you jealous. It’s not hearing the way they laughed together but hearing the way they fought that gets to you. You know how Ace lives to fight and even just roughhouse, you know how he’s a rough and tumble guy, and you worry you’re not tough enough. Should you be punching his arm when he makes a joke? Should you be trying to trip him out on deck? What should you be doing? When you finally come clean with Ace about what’s been bothering you, he actually laughs. “If I wanted to be with someone who gives me hell, I’d be sleeping in Marco’s cabin every night. Besides,” he says, scooping you up in his arms, “I like being able to manhandle you.”
Sabo:
Sabo is a flirt, and you knew that going into your relationship. It actually doesn’t bother you when he flashes that charming smile of his at someone else or swoops in to save a damsel in distress (a speciality of his) and even serves to entertain, especially on the rare occasions his flirtations are rebuked. What does bother you, though, is his tight relationship with Koala. You know it’s ridiculous to be envious, you know Koala would sooner saw off her arm than kiss the man she considers her irksome big brother, but they’ve known each other since they were little kids, and Koala has been through so much with Sabo that the pair have such a close bond. It’s not the angry kind of jealousy that bubbles up in you when Koala mentions something about Sabo’s past that she assumes you know but you don’t, just the sad kind that you try to keep to yourself. Surprisingly, Sabo notices, though you don’t realize until he hugs you from behind and mumbles in your ear that he’s glad you’re the only one who knows he has a skincare routine, his silly words diffusing your mood and acting as the exact affirmation you needed. If it’s not enough, though, he’ll happily prove his loyalty to you by challenging Koala to a karate match, though.
Law:
Dr. Law and Dr. Robin sure do get along well- so well, in fact, you can’t help but wonder if they are better suited to each other than you and him. Even if they didn’t have such good chemistry, it would be impossible not to feel a touch of jealousy toward the archeologist. She’s intelligent, beautiful, fiercely loyal, a member of the Straw Hats, and has an impressive bounty that she earned even before she became a pirate. Needless to say, you find yourself brooding when the Robin brings him a beer and sits down beside him to discuss the immune systems of fishmen, a topic both are rather interested in. Of course, you’re interested in that, too, thus the reason Law realizes something is wrong when you don’t participate in the conversation. He ends up excusing the two of you and taking you to bed, worrying you had too much to drink, the thought you may be jealous never once occurring to him. You end up not saying anything (many thing in your relationship with Law being unspoken) and just sleeping it off, the fact that he excused the two of you proof enough of his loyalty.
Kid:
He doesn’t ever talk about his first love, Victoria. In fact, you didn’t even know she existed until Killer got drunk one night and began speaking of his dearly departed. What he didn’t mention was that Kid, too, had been in love with her. It only comes up the next night when you mention it to Wire, who mentions it was the death of his first love, Victoria, that put Kid on the war path and united the first four members of the Kid Pirates. Realizing Wire messed up, Heat chimes in to say, “he’d do the same for you.” But you’re not convinced, mainly because Kid never told you any of this. It tears you apart, leaves you tossing and turning for nights on end, until you finally burst into Kid’s workshop one night ranting about how he doesn’t trust you and holds you at arm’s length. “Heat says you’d do the same for me, but-” Kid cuts you off and says, “I wouldn’t do the same, I’d do worse. Much, much worse.” And from the wicked gleam in his eye, you’re inclined to believe him.
Your First Fight
Headcanon 🫶 (Pls send more requests)
LUFFY + ZORO + SANJI + LAW + ACE + SABO
LUFFY
“I don’t get why you’re so mad at me,” he said as he watched you pace around the room. “Are you serious? I asked you to stay behind on the ship, because you know this island is known to be a common Navy stop! All I needed was to grab some herbs and plants for the garden and who do I see rocketing into the middle of the plaza?” You asked, knowing damn well who it was. “Me…” he replied softly. “Exactly! I asked you to stay behind and watch the ship with the others! Why can’t you do the simplest of tasks?” You yelled. “So what if I left? I got bored, and why are you trying to tell me what to do?! If you want me to remind you, I’m your captain! You listen to me!” He yelled back.
“Well it obviously doesn’t look like it, since you were hurling at max speed into a Navy base island without a care in the world! Grow up! I asked you to stay behind because we had others who needed to stock up on supplies, which means you had to stay behind and make sure we’re not discovered or the ship isn’t hijacked!” You yelled. “We would have been fine! We always escape, so why are you so mad at me?” He asked. “Just because it hasn’t happened doesn’t mean it won’t. Plus I asked you to do something and you just ignored it,” You replied. “Well if you want to boss people around so much, go find your own ship. Maybe you’ll be a better captain,” he said coldly as he walked out of the bedroom.
ZORO
“Hey stop!” You called out to your boyfriend. You were both currently lost… or he was lost, you knew where to go, but Zoro wasn’t listening. “Zoro, I told you a billion times that the ship is the other way,” you said. “I know where it is! You don’t need to babysit me, I’m not a little kid,” he sighed. “I’m not trying to,” you said. “Well it feels like it… like I can’t take a break,” he grumbled. “Ok… but why are you so upset? I’m just giving you dire-“ he cut you off. “Because you’re always doing this!” He shouted as he stopped and looked at you.
“Huh?” You asked. “You’re always… suffocating me. I can never have a moment to myself, ever since we started dating. It’s like you’re a leech and I can never get rid of you for 5 seconds,” he groaned. “Oh…” your voice cracked. “I didn’t m-mean…” you trailed off. “Wait… (Y/N), I didn’t mean all that. I’m just-“ you cut him off. “No… it’s fine, I understand… You just want some space…I’ll head back to the ship, I’ll see you there,” you said as you turned on your heels and ran towards the ship. “(Y/N)!” You heard as you continued to run off.
SANJI
You slowly approached your boyfriend, excited to help him with whatever he needs. “Hey!” You smiled. “Hi beautiful, how are you?” He smiled back. “I’m great, so what are we making today?” You asked. “Nami-swan asked if I could make her some fruit tarts so I’ll be preparing that for her,” he smiled. “Mind if I help? If you finish quickly we can go-“ he cut you off. “Sorry (Y/N), but I’d hate for this to be messed up. It’s better if I do it alone,” he explained.
“Oh… but I normally help you in the kitchen, why can’t I help you with this one?” You asked, confused. “To make sure it’s perfect for my Nami-swan! Plus, you still haven’t mastered certain techniques, and I’d hate for this treat to not be perfect for my beloved Nami,” he swooned. “Seriously?” You huffed. “I didn’t mean to offend you my love, I was just answering your question,” he replied as he began preparing the dessert. “Ok fine, I’ll get out of your way. Maybe your beloved Nami will come help you out in the future,” you said coldly and began walking out of the kitchen. “(Y/N)! Hey! Wait!” He called out, but you continued to your bedroom.
LAW
“(Y/N) you’ve been at that for the past 6 hours, it’s time to take a break,” Law said as he watched you continue to try to fix the electrical issue that’s been causing problems with the motor. “But I can’t just stop now… what if the motor stops when we’re trying to escape from someone?” You asked, feeling frustrated by the uncooperative wires. “Come on, maybe you need some fresh air. We’ve been ducked at this island for a whole day and you haven’t even looked outside to see it,” he sighed. “Well I’m sorry that I’m trying to fix your ship!” You huffed. “That’s fine, but you need a break,” he said.
“Well I don’t want a break, what I want to do is fix this stupid thing!” You groaned. “And I really don’t need someone breathing down my neck when I’m trying to do something!” You added. “I’m just trying to look out for you, but if you’re gonna act like this then I’m leaving,” he said softly and headed towards the exit. “Good, maybe I’ll finally be able to fix this,” you glared as he walked out.
ACE
“Come on babe, are you really still mad at me?” Ace asked as he followed you to your bedroom. “What makes you think that?” You asked as you tried to shut the door in his face, but he quickly stopped it and stepped in. “That’s why,” he frowned. “Just making sure to close the door behind me,” you said as you gave a tight smile. “Come on, what’s the big deal? I’m sorry I left without telling you,” he said as he tried to hold you. “You just don’t understand,” you huffed as you brushed off his embrace. “Then tell me,” he said as he sat on your bed.
“What if you died?” You said bluntly. “Well… that’s being optimistic…” Ace said awkwardly. “I’m serious, what if you died? You really left without me knowing, and sure you made it back safe, but what if next time you’re not so lucky? And I end up finding out my boyfriend died in the middle of the sea, and I couldn’t even say goodbye to him…” you said softly. “Ok, ok… well I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have left. Even though you know I’ll always be safe. So, forgive me now?” He smiled. “No, because you’re not taking me seriously!” You groaned. “Why are you still mad at me? I said, " I'm sorry, don’t worry so much!” He yelled back. “I worry because I love you, but if you’re so dense, then just get out! I don’t know why I even put up with you. When it obviously shows how little you care about my feelings!” You shouted as you pushed Ace out of your room. “Wait, (Y/N) I’m sorry! Let’s keep-“ but you cut his words off with the door.
SABO
“Sabo~” you cooed. “Yes (Y/N)?” He replied. “I’m bored, can you please put the book down for a second and let’s go walk around the island or grab something to eat?” You asked hopefully. “Not today, plus you know we’re not supposed to be venturing out when he has to be on duty,” he explained. “I know, but we both get and hour break from standing guard and you’ve been spending each break reading. Can’t we do something, the two of us? Together?” You added. “Why? We’re spending time together right now,” he rolled his eyes.
Your eyes fell to the floor, “Alright,” you said softly as you headed back to the base. “What’s wrong?” Sabo called out. “Nothing, just gonna head inside,” you replied. You heard footsteps behind you, “What’s wrong? Tell me,” he said as he grabbed your arm. “Sabo we’ve been here for 2 weeks and you don’t want to do any normal couple stuff with me? Not even for an hour?” You asked. “(Y/N) you know-“ you cut him off. “Yeah I know, I also know how hard it is to have a relationship in our positions, but that didn't stop you from asking me out… Plus… I’ve seen you go out with Koala on a few occasions, you didn’t seem to have an issue with the rules then,” you glared. He quickly released your arm. “Hold on, you’re misunderstanding that (Y/N). You know Koala and I-“ you cut him off once again. “I know, but it doesn't mean you’re off having fun with another girl. While your real girlfriend is stuck here watching you read a book,” you said softly before turning on your heels and heading back towards the base.
———————
LUFFY
Tumblr media
The first thing Luffy saw when he finally snapped out of the strange haze of pure aggression that had possessed him was the horrific sight of your body being hit by his gum-gum whip. One second you were doubled over his arm and as the impact hit you were thrown back at a forceful, blinding speed with no one being able to react in time to stop you from hitting the ground. They could only watch as you crashed loudly against the floor and tumbled, the momentum carrying you until you slid to a stop in a crumbled heap.
Usually energetic and first to act, Luffy found himself completely frozen as he stood and stared only at your form finding it unrecognisable. No, it couldn’t be you. You looked so tiny as he watched Chopper hurry to your side and roll you over to check on your injuries. Your body was limp and bloodied and it was his fault. Slowly Luffy looked down at his shaking hands and he glared at them as he grit his teeth so tightly he felt like his own jaw would snap under the pressure and if it did, then it was the least he deserved.
When everyone was safely on the Sunny and Chopper was tending to your wounds, the others filled Luffy in on what happened. None of them knew something was wrong until it was too late. One minute they were watching Luffy effortless deal with his opponent as he usually did. The next his opponent had done something to him just before falling unconscious. Then everyone was trying to reach their Captain and calm him as he suddenly went on a rampage. Incoherently he was yelling out attacks and throwing them out at random. For the longest time they all held their own and were able to dodge Luffy’s attacks but sadly you got hit just as the rampage.
No matter how much everyone told him it wasn’t his fault, Luffy ignored them. He’d done the worst thing imaginable. Yes, he’d fought Usopp and Sanji, and even Zoro in the past but those were in fights they both agreed to. What he’d done to you… again the image of you getting hit flashed in his head and he sharply slammed his fist on the table, leaving the kitchen and ignored Sanji’s call that dinner would soon be ready. Instead he continued walking until he was perched on Sunny’s head. Throwing himself down, Luffy tightly shut his eyes and tried to shut everything and everyone out.
You woke a day later, pain flaring through your body dizzyingly. Even when you tried to sit up as slowly and as carefully as you could, it was still too much and you could only let out a shuddering gasp and had to go even slower. Exhausted you finally managed to sit up and blinked to notice the iconic straw hat of your Captain and boyfriend on the bed. It must have been set on you while you were sleeping and moved when you’d woken. Gingerly you let your fingers skim the edge of the hat and you pulled it closer. “I’m sorry.” You looked to see Luffy enter, it almost seemed wrong that he wasn’t wearing the hat.
He knelt on the floor and folded his arms on the bed, looking up at you sadly. As much as he wanted to punish himself, he couldn’t bring himself to be apart from you. Your free hand lightly moved to run through his head. “Why do I have your hat, Luffy?”
“I wanted to show you how sorry I am. It’s my treasure…but you’re more important to me. Forgive me?”
“Luffy, there’s nothing to forgive.” You told him softly, using all the strength you could to lift his hat back onto his head where it belonged, relieved to see the visible weight on Luffy’s shoulders lift. It hadn’t mattered to him what the others said, he needed to hear it from you and only you to know you didn’t hate him. Only your opinion mattered and to know you still loved him and looked at him the same way was all he needed.
ACE
Tumblr media
He was a monster, this proved it. Ace knew that it was only a matter of time before his evil blood reared its ugly head and made him unrecognisable, made him act against his morals and instincts. Although technically it was an enemy Devil Fruit user that controlled him, ordered him to destroy everything in his path and hurt those he loved, the end result was still the same. A switch had been flipped in his mind and he became a mindless, destructive force of fire and choking ash. It was a miracle no one was killed and that was thanks to you but your intervention came at a price.
When Ace woke from his confusion he felt drained and saw the sea prism cuffs on his wrists but what caught his attention was your pained whimper you’d tried to bite back as Marco got to work on healing you. Through the blue flames Ace could see the swirled burn marks against your arm and shoulder. Sickened he looked away from you and saw the destruction he’d caused. Buildings were now smouldering as his flames were dying down, taken care of by his crew while the people who lived in the small town watched on. There was a small clink and Ace blinked to see Izou unlocking the cuffs, holding Ace’s powers at bay. “We took care of the bastard that did this to you. You weren’t the only one he’d terrorised with his ability but you are the last. No one holds you accountable Ace.”
Despite the kind words, Ace still felt himself falling further into self-loathing he hadn’t experienced in a long while. For days he withdrew himself and silently worked with the others to rebuild the village he’d destroyed. He didn’t deserve his family in the Whitebeard crew, his didn’t deserve Pops’ reassurances, he didn’t deserve the tattoo on his back that he’d always displayed proudly. He didn’t deserve you and anytime you tried to approach, Ace made a quick escape.
At first you decided to give your lover some space to clear his head and work on repairing the village. As much as you’d wanted to do your part, your burns left you unable to do much of the heavier work. Marco had been very insistent that you just sit back and rest and anytime you made a move to so much as look at the tools or materials they were using, the Phoenix would float as if from nowhere and demand to know why you were ignoring his medical orders. During your latest admonishment you felt a stare aimed at you. Looking over you caught Ace’s gaze only to sigh when he quickly lowered his head and walked away. Now it was your turn to ignore Marco and you walked after your boyfriend. You finally caught him on the ship and stood firmly in the doorway, blocking his only escape.
“No more running Ace. We have to talk about this.” You told him, watching him flinch and look at the ground. “Look at me, Ace. Please.”
“I can’t bear to see that look in your eyes.” He whispered and your eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“What look?” You asked. “Ace, I don’t blame you for my injury. I don’t look at you any differently.”
“Exactly.” He ground out, hands balling against his sides. “You should hate me, see me as the monster I am. I can’t stand to see you still look at me with love in your eyes.”
“Ace I’ll always love you.” You told him, beginning to step forward. Even without looking at you, Ace sensed your advance and responded with a step back.
“Don’t.”
“I love you Ace.” You reaffirmed. Your fingers reached out to slip around his fist, gently coaxing his hand to relax. “I love you.” You repeated those three impactful words over and over again until you finally felt Ace’s arms wrap around you and let him bury his face into your uninjured shoulder. For every apology that spilled from his lips, you answered with a declaration of love for him, soothing his guilt slowly but surely.
SABO
Tumblr media
Normally Sabo would feel nothing but restless excitement to be finally returning to the Revolutionary Army base, to finally see you again. Normally a mission lasting two months would have driven him to make up the time apart to you and promise that his next mission would be short. This time however? He was only returning to quickly give Dragon a report and then demand the next mission available. Preferably the longer the better. Sabo still couldn’t shift the pit of ice twisting painfully in his stomach or bring himself to feel anything but shame and heartbreak. He’d hurt you. On your last mission, an enemy had gotten the better of you both and used his ability to make Sabo his mindless puppet, given the simple order of ‘destroy your comrade’ before escaping.
While you were fiercely strong and capable, Sabo always had just a little bit more of an edge in combat by comparison and with no restraint, he was deadlier than normal. Knowing you had to fight back against your lover if you wanted to both survive this ordeal. Hack and Koala were outside and you were counting on him to pursue your target while you held your own in your fight, in the hopes Sabo would eventually snap out of it. You’d done as you intended but one moment of hesitation was all it took.
You didn’t react in time and Sabo’s pipe connected against your head, knocking you to the ground. Dazed and in pain, you tried to push yourself to your feet only to freeze when Sabo’s Dragon Talon latched onto your spine. Panic set in and your tried to break free before he properly attacked but in seconds his fingers flexed and you shrieked in agony. Neither of you could tell for certain if the sound of your pain, Koala taking down the target, or the effect of the ability had simply worn off but Sabo released you and staggered back while you passed out from the pain. Had he put any more power into the attack or let it prolong any longer than he had then you would have never been able to walk again.
While that was a good result, the damage was already done and you had a long road to recovery to take. Unable to face you or what he’d done, Sabo took the mission he was only now returning from. He hadn’t even waited for your to wake. He couldn’t justify acting like nothing had happened. The shame was too great for him to face you.
“What do you mean there’s no missions?!” Sabo demanded as he stood in Dragon’s office.
“None for you, not until you settle matters here.” His superior explained, keeping his eyes trained on Sabo’s report. “You’re needed more here than out there, Sabo. Now get to the infirmary.” Unable to disobey a direct order, Sabo nodded and did as he was told. He was a fool to hope he could run forever.
Silently he entered the room to see you diligently working through your physiotherapy exercises. Your steps were still slow but you could see the improvement all thanks to the Revolutionary’s medical team and your own resilience. Hearing the door, you looked up to see Sabo and while you felt relieved to see him home safe, you couldn’t help but feel hurt that he hadn’t said goodbye in the first place.
“Did you get lost?” You asked lightly, a joke you both always said when the other was away for any longer than a week. Sabo couldn’t bring himself to answer with his usual cheer and playful tone. Instead he swallowed the lump in his throat and glanced at the doctor.
“Could you give us a few minutes?” He requested gently. When the room was empty and you moved to the nearest seat, still finding long periods on your feet to be draining, Sabo cleared his throat. “I know I have a lot of apologising to do and I know none of it is going to change what I did but please know I’d understand if you wanted to end things and won’t object-”
“Hit me, Sabo.” You demanded, shocking Sabo into stopping his rambling.
“What?”
“Hit me, kick me, whatever you want.” You shrugged, watching him approach you slowly.
“No! I’d never do that to you.” Sabo refused, crouching down in front of you to remain eye-level. His expression became even more confused when you smirked at him in satisfaction.
“Exactly. You’d never hurt me.” You repeated. “You’d never knowingly or willingly hurt me. You didn’t have to run away. I understood.”
“I’m sorry. I’ll make it up to you.”
“Just don’t hide from me again, okay?” You asked, reaching out to cup his face. “If I’m to get my strength back I need you here to support me.”
“I’ll never let you down again.” Sabo promised, leaning into your touch and finally allowed himself to feel the warmth and relief of returning home to you.
