"No Regrets"PUNISH

今作に至って、石原氏のギターフレーズがより細やかになった気がする。それもあって以前よりも技巧面が際立ち、よりメタリックになった印象だ。丁度並行して聴いていたのもあるが、かつてのデンマークのJACKALあたりを彷彿とさせるところもある。一方で印象に残るのが、J-ROCK的なポップさの導入。3曲目、4曲目がそれに該当し、ゴリゴリのヘヴィネスの最��、ふっとポップへ移行する瞬間のコントラストがたまらなく気持ちよい。どの作品から聴いても間違いはないバンドとはいえ、本作の充実度は中でも抜きんでいると思う。前作を遥かに凌ぐ最高傑作という触れ込みは決して大げさではない。あまりに知られていないが、本当に凄いバンドだ。

Japanese Metal Super Star、PUNISHが堂々と放つ2作目のミニアルバムである。SABER TIGER"Storm in the Sand”を思わせる1曲目からもう、あまりの威風堂々さに聴いてるほうが身が引き締まる。そこから怒涛ファストナンバーの2曲目になだれ込む流れでもう圧巻だ。久保田氏の伸びやかな声も、駆け上がるような泣きのソロを炸裂させていく石原氏のギターも素晴らしい。この底なしのパワーは、老境に立つ4人のどこから湧き出してくるのだろう。これだけ出音のスケールが大きいHM/HRを形に出来るバンド、日本ではもはや片手で足りる数しかいないと思われる。かつてのジャパニーズメタルに今なお憧憬がある人なら、このバンドは絶対聴いておくべきですよ。どのアルバムから入っても間違いのないバンドだから。
