I got one (1) positive response to asking if I should post my Saanp Ajagar, so have bappies! I can no longer do a read more on mobile but I want to tell y’all about these guys anyways, so small infodump for the rest of the post!
Back during inktober, I couldn’t figure out what to draw next after the poison/ghost/witch up above so I decided to throw in a familiar to keep my hands busy. This spawned Vitriol, a shoulder dragon with a cobra’s hood and rattler’s tail. My immediate response to finishing drawing Vitriol was “this little one needs a name, and friends.”
So, I sketched some concept art (not shown here) on the back of the page then drew and colored Vitriol again, this time with Dart next to them (tbh none of these guys are gendered yet, I just like drawing them), and when I was out of class I went to google translate with the express idea of avoiding a Latin name, bc so many people name their dragons in Latin, and figured on looking up “Snake Dragon” in a couple different language from the indian subcontinent until I found sounds/English letter shapes that seemed right and I decided Hindi was the one I liked. I had wanted to go with a less well known language, but I only recognized 3 as being from that region and the other twos’ words for “snake” and “dragon” didn’t fit together in my head.
So, now I’ve got a name and two examples. What do I do next? Draw more of them. Veneno came third, first placed in front of Dart’s basket (and I’m never inking a basket that way again), then Gift, Zahar, and Poi. Now I just keep drawing them! (And their wings just keep getting longer!)
A few drawings are missing from this collection, like the one where they’re hanging off a terriam branch, but oh well. These are all fun!

Did a draw pile with @mae-i-scribble and @gingermintpepper today! Everyone drew their own OC of my original species (Saanp Ajagar, named with the help of google translate), Ginger’s OC, Madara/Nyanko-sensei from Natsume’s Book of Friends (I drew him yawning!), and another friend’s OC.
And also a figure drawing I Will Not Be Sharing.
Anyways, these are all cute, so enjoy!

Now it’s time for some digital Saanp Ajagar!! Zahar has been featuring a bit, huh? Nightshade was created by the same person who the big dragon belongs to: @mae-i-scribble !
