Hera sat on the ramp of the Ghost, watching the snow drifting down on the prairies of Lothal. Cold weather had never been her favorite, being from a desert planet. Even now, she had a mug of caf clutched in her hands, trying to let the warmth soak into her from the cooling mug.

But Kanan loved the snow. If Hera closed her eyes, she could imagine him next to her, shoulder pressed against her, trying to keep her warm. His blue-green eyes would be sparkling as he teased her or flirted, and they’d be happy.

Hera closed her eyes against tears. Oh, Kanan. I miss you. She hoped that he was at peace. Even if she wished he was here.

Letting a hand rest on her growing belly, she thought, If you were here this year, I would have had the perfect gift for you. She could picture his excitement at the prospect of being a father so clearly.

She let out a long, shaky sigh. Lifting the mug of caf, she said, “Here’s to you, love. Happy Life Day.”

Jacen Syndulla: Answers to All the Big Questions

After the bombshell finale revelation that Kanan and Hera actually had a son, I found myself pouring through all the Kanera moments in the rest of the season again to reassess what was going on between the two of them. In hindsight, I found some things did look different—really different. And the questions Jacen’s existence brought had some reasonably good clues left along the way to help solve them.

Because we’re all dying to know how this green and orange kid came about, right?

So here you go, this is the fruits of my (mostly unscientific) labor. Fair warning, I’m tackling this whole situation from the perspective of a married person, a parent, and a nurse—birds and the bees and all that.

Idk why I’m realizing this now but when Palpatine entices Ezra with his parents - his parents are upset. They’re reaching for him as he’s reaching for them but they don’t look happy or inviting. They look worried and sad. Worried that he’ll take up Palpatine’s offer and discard the rebellion for his parents.

It’s only when Ezra says “you’ll always be apart of me” when they look happy and proud. They were conjured up from Palpatine’s conscious or whatever but even in death they’re defiant. Even in death Mira and Ephraim are rebels and they want nothing more than for their son to be too.
