What would your versions of the Absolute Universe be for The Earth Guy characters?

Context: The Absolute Universe is a reference to a recently popularized AU of the DC comics superheroes (you know, ones like Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman), where they re-imagined the origins of the superheroes in a light where they lack an advantage or a core value and core element that defines their character (examples: their upbringing, their heritage, and how their civilization operates) but they still chose to become or still ends up inevitably becoming the same peoples who are thrust into the exact same environment that they are now in the canonical timeline but with different circumstances that changed their upbringing.

In a nutshell: a universe where every single Antagonists has an advantage over The Protagonists. Where the main characters loses a core element that serves as their advantages or a key characteristic that defines them for who they are and the villains have some kind of plot conveniences that gives them a sharp edge over the heroes.

Examples: what if Scarella or Aquello was never born into royalty and instead are middle-class citizens but they still somehow end up being enrolled into IGUESS university. What if the Galactic Federation was controlled by the bad guys?

So, if we presume an AU in which everyone would be off a regular upbringing (like Neil), if they still end up at IGUESS, that would either be through a coincidence (like Neil) or they otherwise showed their strengths to authority figures that decided that they should be their representative. I think the latter seems most likely, if they all still have the abilties they have in the OG, but if not, it would likely be through coincidence, which could create interesting scenarios then (Neil finding out his friend is also at the school by accident for example)

If IGC was controllee by the bad guys, one might assume they have ulterior motives for the school and its students home planets 🤔

I don't know much about the Absolute Universe, so my answer may be a bit limited here. This got me thinking hard, and also trying not like accidentally spoil anything from the OG

Headcanon’s about DC Kids AU: Aurore’s hero name would be Whirlpool. Cosette’s would be Buzz Kill. Zoe’s realtionship with her blood siblings in a nutshell: “If I have a Penny for each half sibling that is only a few months older than me and is a jerk, I would have 2 Pennies. It’s not much, but weird that happened twice”. Mireille screamed at Volpina during a battle to make her illusions disappear.

Their outfits have some elements of their hero parents

Aurore’s skirts and tops have gold fish scales, and she has trident earrings

Mireille manages to make leather and sweaters work with each other. She also has a lot of fishnets

It’s not rare to see stars embroidered on Denise’s skirts

Marc often wears purple and jewelry made from metals found on Tamaran

Simon wears more warm colors and a few of his shirts have The Flash’s logo embroidered on it

Cosette’s color schemes usually consist of blue, yellow, white, and black

Zoé’s got a lot of black with some hints of yellow. There’s no way in hell she’s going out in Robin colors again

Ismael’s cardigan is a brighter shade of blue with red cuffs

A lot of Reshma’s clothes have vine patterns on the sleeves and hems

Lacey wears Beast Boy’s signature shade of purple with some hints of black

Jean dresses all fancy with bow ties, crop jackets, and tiny top hats on a headband

Now as for Jean and Austin’s relationship- Jean often makes Austin’s favorite flowers appear in his locker

Oh, and Austin knows that he and his friends are related to DC heroes. His dad actually came across Zoé’s dad a few times in Gotham before he was put away

They don’t care much for the Marvel heroes

oh my god my first ask! hello! :) i don't mind at all! after all, i've been WAITING for questions like this! i feel like Cap and Melvin have like a one sided sidekick/superhero relationship. like how in the movie, Cap instantly calls George and Harold his 'trusty sidekicks', so i feel like he'd do the same to Melvin. Cap likes Melvin, obviously, because he's his 'sidekick' (not really), but Melvin's very unhappy being stuck with an underwear-clad buffoon and having to keep an eye on him so he doesn't do anything stupid, which takes away any possible privacy or free time he had for making inventions beforehand. their dynamic in a nutshell is just: "Someone is going to die." "Of fun!"

Thinking of a superhero (non-green-lantern) AU for Doe, and any abilities she'd have would be solely related to her mind, and linked to her perception of self, other people's perception of her, traces of her existence, etc. No super-strength, invisibility, flight, etc., though you'd think at least one would be tied to her, given her elusiveness.

Doe feels, at least to me, like a psionic, a VERY powerful psionic & telepath, but a covert one because her abilities rarely extend beyond herself or things relating to her.

Let me put it like this: Doe can erase herself from existence in every respect other than literally rendering herself non-existent.

She can expunge herself (and only herself), altering physical, digital, etc., matter or media depicting information on her, visual depictions of her, evidence of her existence, etc. Have her birth certificate? She can make that bad boy a blank, untarnished certificate in minutes with concerted effort.

She can reach into people's minds and remove any memory of herself entirely (barring people much stronger than herself), her appearance, name, background, etc., and shred shared memories. But more than other people, she can do it to herself too.

Now, mind you, this isn't a 'ZAP! Now you forgot me!' it takes careful consideration to carefully expunge rather than to irrevocably damage the source material and mind. Going back to the birth certificate, if Doe isn't careful, that thing could have all the text and ink become physically twisted in an attempt at obfuscation, or the shit could go up in flames, but the untamed psionic energy she's blasted into it to try and remove herself.

Minds are the same way, if not more delicate, more moving parts. If not careful, she could (and unintentionally has) cause people's brains to kind of explode and shut down because she's damaged their hippocampus and frontal lobes beyond repair in efforts to remove all traces of her. Essentially, it is a mental memetic kill agent, if anyone is familiar with SCPs!

Doe, in these verses, is Doe, not because she's dead but because she's created and completely erased entire versions of herself countless times due to paranoia and frustration with the results of that life lived.

Now, beyond THIS, I do feel like Doe's telepathy is very concentrated and limited. She cannot read minds, she doesn't have much telekinesis and she can't foresee the future or her deaths, even in her dreams (any more that is, that ended after puberty and the emergence of these psionic abilities, which in turn were just her prior abilities changing along with her emotions (and trauma) in an evolutionary effort to protect her from the outcomes of the original manner her abilities manifested)

Her abilities for mind control are VERY limited, and she is limited to using her own identity and concept in a person's mind as a wormhole to manipulate their actions and/or thinking. For example, if Doe asks you to grab a pen for her, you oblige or even listen to the request; she can alter your memory to suit her needs and mind control you that way. Finding a pen becoming 'open the cash register and give me the cash' or 'let me out,'

Her identity, in a nutshell, and understanding and digesting that the identity is HER is, more than anything, the wormhole she needs to worm her way into a person's mind and do what she wants. Flashbanging, disabling, erasing, even killing.

Some head cannons I like are that Kyle, stan, and Kenny room together in college, Kenny and Vic actually hang out a lot post college and take another Hawaii trip pre Covid, and that Kenny, Craig, and Stan are smoking buddies at parties or after school. Also I’m a huge fan of Kenny being super smart but not having the resources needed to fully capitalize on his intellect like Kyle can.

I LOVE imp Tweek and youth pastor Craig. I’m also super in love with the superhero AU and go feral for chaos/mysterion. The art and stuff of the racing and old west AUs are super cool too.

Tony Stark is twenty three by the time he overstays his welcome at his parents’ manor. They don’t kick him out — Maria Stark wouldn’t stand for something so crass — but it’s gotten to a point where the rising tension over Tony’s unfortunate opinions on everything the world and society in general and Stark Industries and his father in particular do wrong just aren’t worth the benefits of free housing and easy access to SI technology anymore.

At this point, well. Tony’s completed his master’s degree at MIT over two years ago. Against all expectations and predictions, he’s spent his time since finishing university moving back into his family home, wasting his time and his parents money and basically not doing anything worth-while with his life. The biggest surprise the gossip columns never fail to remark on on a slow news day is that Howard’s lawyers have managed to cover up his heir’s wild parties and even more colorful lifestyle.

That’s the official version.

The unofficial but not particularly interesting version goes a bit like this: With the rare exception — wouldn’t do to make anyone suspicious or worse let Howard grow too comfortable — Tony doesn’t spend much time partying or enjoying the life as the sole heir to a multi-million dollar company. Instead he chooses to spend most of his time locked away in his room, coding, researching whichever project catches his interest and occasionally half-assing an invention that isn’t fooling anyone even remotely familiar with the quality of his work.

In short, Tony Stark is resting on his laurels instead of investing in his future. A future a great deal of influential people plan to see realized in a way that benefits them most.

[Howard makes it a point to stop by his rooms at least once a week to remind Tony how disappointed he is by his life choices and that he’s not gonna tolerate Tony spending his parents’ money and not contributing anything to society forever and that it’s high time he stop this childish fit so that they can work on integrating Tony into SI — maybe even in the R&D department if Tony absolutely refuses to see reason and shadow Howard himself.

Howard’s business partner and friend Obadiah Stane has come to join them for dinner a few times in the last couple of months as well and made it clear that he’s got high hopes for Tony’s future in the company. High hopes and a lot of expectations.

And. When even Maria starts clucking her tongue and making pointed remarks that never edge into hurtful but convey her fraying patience with him all too clearly, Tony knows he’s running out of time.]

The truth is something like this: Tony is fourteen years old when he realizes he doesn’t want to follow in Howard’s footsteps. But it’s during his freshman year at MIT, when two of Tony’s roommates get into a hilariously intense argument about whether superheroes have health insurance while blackout drunk, that Tony gets his first inkling of what he really wants to do with his life.

[It’s just a vague idea at first, a notion, a dream. But the more time Tony spends thinking it over, reading up on laws and old newspaper articles and devouring critical essays in the student newspapers, the more it starts to look like a solid plan. A plan that gets more fleshed out with every statistic Tony looks up, every policy he researches and every supervillain attack he analyzes.] 

And see if Tony was someone else he’d probably ended up as a social justice warrior for superhuman rights and give his parents’ a heart-attack. Which, not gonna lie, would’ve been a definite plus. But. For better or worse, Tony is a Stark, was raised as a Stark, has been trained all his life to one day take over his father’s lifework and company and so when he realizes that there is a glaringly unaddressed niche market for supers [heroes, villains and everything in between] to get the everyday supplies they need, he sees a problem that needs fixing. He sees a business opportunity.

A business opportunity Howard Stark isn’t going to invest in. One none of his partners are likely to invest in. But that’s their loss and Tony has neither the time nor the patience to try convince any of his parents’ friends of his idea. 

[Not to bash anyone but Howard and Maria have a horrid taste in human beings. Tony doesn’t understand how they can bear any of the people they regularly seek out during their various social engagements.]

He’ll just have to do this on his own.

So, half a lifetime ago when I started [this could’ve been] a villain’s origin story, I did two versions of that AU, one for MCU and one for KHR. Now that the KHR ‘verse is mostly done, I thought I’d get back to the MCU one and I did, sort of. But instead of continuing where I left off, I kinda got stuck on how Tony got to NYC in the first place and how he went about setting his business up which somehow turned into a lot of words about something else entirely. So. Well. Here we are?

Supervillain Rollo, he doesn’t see himself as a villain but definitely does villainous things for accomplishing his twisted view of justice. He despises superpowers believing that the only thing they’re good for is bringing destruction and chaos. Rollo sees Yuu as a victim of the superpowers’ corruption and wants to “save” them.

And yes, this is Rollo in this AU in a nutshell! He genuinely thinks that he’s the superhero in his city, that the “supervillains” who oppose him just have a great propaganda department, or the ability to mind-control the citizens into liking them better than him.

The citizens will be quick to tell you they dislike him for how he keeps resorting to arson to solve his problems.

His attempts to ally with Crowley and the NRC are part of a plan to “set the supervillains on each other and destroy whoever is left over,” but then he actually met the Night Raven’s heir.

An oddly charming, quick-witted, relatively good-looking person who is entirely without superpowers.

Is it any wonder he’s so taken with them once they meet?

Marinette always thought that falling in love happened in a moment, she believed in love at first sight, first kiss, anything that came out of a fairytale. She thought she fell in love with Adrien the moment that their hands touched when he handed her his umbrella. However, love is much more complicated than that, falling in love is subtle. You never really know exactly when you fall but you always know that those feelings have to be love.

At least that’s the conclusion Marinette reached one afternoon while patrolling Paris as she looked over at the dark-haired, green-eyed boy standing next to her. Over the last couple of months, life, in a nutshell, had been complicated - there was the Agreste trial, the increase in activity with the Light and not to mention high school being...well high school. Without having her partner right by her side but instead in a place where she couldn’t just swoop in and help him took its toll on Marinette. Marinette gnawed on her lips as she stared out into the Parisian skyline, honestly, she wasn’t sure if she’d survive if it wasn’t for-

“What are you thinking about?”

Marinette glanced over at Damian who had a dark eyebrow raised in question, unlike herself, Damian hadn’t adopted a superhero persona and was more or less dressed as a burglar.

An interesting combo with her Ladybug suit, she giggled at the thought, “just thinking about how I wouldn’t have stayed sane these last couple months without you.”

Damien cleared his throat and turned back to the busy streets down below. “You would’ve been fine.”

Marinette bit the inside of her cheek to stifle the giggle bubbling in her chest at the sight of Damien’s pinkened ears. “I’m not sure about that,” she sighed, “I’m only human after all.”

“But you have all your friends, your teammates, what difference do I really make?”

Marinette placed her hand over Damien’s, she felt the boy tense at her touch but he did not turn to face her.

“You make all the difference in the world.”

Damien didn’t believe in things like love. Love brought weakness and Damien could never permit himself to be weak. His family taught him that, they also taught him to believe in loyalty, loyalty to the League of Assassins, to his mother, his grandfather, and now his father. So he was quite perplexed as to why he couldn’t get this girl out of his head. She was one of those idyllic heroes, someone who wanted to do good and be praised. A hero who never felt the allure of the darkness or understood tragedy like he did. He thought that someone like her was of no consequence, that she would be a waste of his time, but he was wrong.

Damien doesn’t remember when exactly it happened, maybe it was because Dick and Tim constantly invited her over to the mansion or when he would get dragged along with his "brothers". But the more time Damien spent with the girl, the more he wanted to understand her. She was so different from him, she was kind, merciful, and she loved fiercely. She loved and Damien thought that made her weak. But he was wrong, she was strong. So strong, to the point that he began to fear that she might break, as he watched her face challenge after challenge. She didn’t though, she stood tall and won.

Damien’s mind continued to wander as he watched the civilians go about their afternoon. Her hand, warm on top of his, he isn’t sure if what he feels is love but, she taught him that love wasn’t a weakness.

No, Marinette taught him that love can be a strength.
