man supernatural might be bad but also ill be damned if thats not the most american show ever. like theres movies and tv that've tried to be this american but 99% have failed. you watch a particularly good episode of supernatural and suddenly you feel the hours of highway winds against your skin and theres more asphalt road than livable terrain for miles and you eat the best meal of your life at a pit stop and you havent gone to church since you were a kid but you still think about praying sometimes and you split a 6 pack with someone you love and a few too many people around you have guns and the land around you is so big when youre right in the center of it you feel like it could swallow you up and you know for a fact theres an unimaginable amount of mythology just beneath the surface. and then you watch the next episode where sam kills paris hilton or something

Y’know, I don’t really relate to that vintage post about hearing “Carry On, Wayward Son” out in the world and having SPN fandom flashbacks anymore

Instead, I just get to be embarrassed with myself over little things…… Like finding out that one of the non-romanceable NPC’s in Baldur’s Gate 3 is voiced by Christopher Heyerdahl (the superior Alistair/Alastair actor, the one who played him in “Death Takes A Holiday” and “On The Head Of A Pin”)

and then getting genuinely kinda upset that you can’t romance his character because it’s been a decade since I stopped watching SPN, but I am still down so bad for Dean/Alastair that, in every subsequent major fandom, I’ve wound up having at least SOME fondness for a similar hero/villain “dark mentorship with very possessive overtones” ship (Peter/Scott in Teen Wolf, Sendak/Shiro in Voltron, White No-Face/Xie Lian in TGCF……and about the only reason it’s not so much my jam with Wen Ruohan/Wei Wuxian is that I got Very Attached to a different ship that I made up in my head for WRH and my headcanons about that ship won’t play nicely with also letting me have the “possessive dark mentorship” hero/villain ship, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

anyway, I just think Baldur’s Gate 3 should let me kiss Chris Heyerdahl’s character, I think it would be funny

(context: I’m not actually playing Baldur’s Gate 3 and would need to update my processor and graphics card before I can even remotely think about it. But I want to, though. Even if finding out that Christopher Heyerdahl is one of the VAs forcibly reminded me that I can run, and I can hide, but it won’t make me stop being SPN trash 😭)

actually i really don't understand the widespread mentality of having to constantly obsess over and harp on and on about how "terrible" the winchesters are. you are so boring. do you understand a single thing happening in the storytelling. do you have a desperate need to be miserable and edgy. what is it

it's almost funny that misha collins had talked about how he wanted cas to die in the end and was happy that his sendoff was meaningful and impactful and had an emotional weight to it (a sacrifice + a love confessions), and then in the last episode they had 1 line about cas actually being brought back to life with absolutely no explanation or followup or addressing the confession in any way, just one last 'fuck you' for good measure
