Pjo finale thoughts
-I actually really like the Percy and Luke flashback at the beginning, it’s definitely gonna make an appearance in future seasons and it’s a way for him to hear Luke in his head in fights
-Do kinda wish Ares had cursed him though
-That’s the helm of darkness? It’s an engraved helmet not exactly terrifying to look at is it?
-CALLING ZEUS A MONSTER YES SOMEONE HAD TO SAY IT
-And the necklace hath been given, I do kind of love the fact they’ve stayed a talk with Zeus is more dangerous than a fight with ares
-“Where’s the glory in that” Okay I see you, unsure if I like it but I see it.
-I don’t have an appointment. This is the kind of vibes Percy should’ve been giving all season as apposed to every now and again!! (But he did slay those moments)
-Okay I’m genuinely loving these flashbacks, so far they’ve all been my favourite parts of their respective episodes
-“things that are small and scary get squished” NO LUKE YOU WERE DOING SO WELL
-Annabeth’s afraid of spiders mention!!
-Poseidon giving himself up for Percy VS Zeus trying to kill him (and letting his own son die later on, that’s gonna hurt)
-Love them not speaking English
-HE SAID THE LINE POSEIDON SAID THE LINE
-“Has it?” STOP IM GONNA SOB THAT ONE HEAD TILT IS ENOUGH TO ALMOST MAKE ME SCREAM
Okay im doing a specific betrayal one
-JUST BE A KID FUCK OFF
-Grover’s going to check the seas oh god
-YASSSS GABES A STATUE
-I was so sure we were getting a season 2 announcement at the end…

So.
Tommy isn’t Theseus. Every time I see Techno’s analogy about Tommy being Theseus brought up I’m filled with endless rage and I’ve DECIDED!
That it’s about time I explained just why it’s so objectively incorrect.
-
First: a bit of backstory on Theseus, because I doubt many of you actually know much about him beyond what Techno said in his “so you want to be a hero” speech, which left out a lot of relevant details.
Theseus was a demigod with two fathers and one mother. His fathers were king Aegeus of Athens and the sea god Poseidon, and his mother was Aethra, Aegeus’ wife. Aethra raised Theseus on her own, far from Athens to avoid him being assassinated.
Aegeus left him nothing but a sword with the Athenian crest and a pair of sandals, buried under a rock so no one else could get them.
When Theseus came of age, he took the sword and sandals and headed up to Athens, slaying various monsters along the way. (It pains me to abbreviate it that much, but Techno left out everything before the Minotaur so it won’t help me much in debunking his analogy.)
Once he got to Athens, he met up with his dad, chased out his stepmom Medea, (yes, that Medea) and killed some people. Then comes the relevant part.
Crete had won a war against Athens a while back, and because of this, every seven years Athens was forced to send 14 tributes to be killed by the Minotaur. (Yes, this inspired the Hunger Games)
Theseus decided he’d volunteer and kill the Minotaur, thus ending the tribute system for good and getting one over on Athens. He promised his dad that if he won, he’d come back in a ship with white sails, as opposed to the standard mourning black that signified the death of the tributes.
So he went to Crete, met king Minos and his daughters Ariadne and Phaedra, and got sent into the labyrinth. Ariadne gave him a magic ball of string that kept him from getting lost, allowing him to find the Minotaur and then safely get out afterwards, providing he could kill it.
He killed it, led his other 13 tributes out, and sailed back home. On the way, Athena told him to leave Ariadne stranded on a tiny island in the middle of the ocean, so he immediately did so, because Theseus was an asshole.
He got home, his dad committed suicide because Theseus forgot the white sails and his dad assumed he’d died, Theseus became king and married Phaedra, and then the fun began, because again, Theseus was an asshole.
First, he cheated on Phaedra with Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons, so she left and took the kids. Next, he and his other asshole friend Pirithous decided to kidnap themselves some new wives. Theseus decided on Helen of Troy, who was a child at the time, and Pirithous decided on Persephone, which resulted in both him and Theseus getting stuck in the Underworld for a while due to pissing off Hades.
Once he got back up, he killed his son for fucking his wife, which is messed up on many levels, and then left Athens because his people were rightfully not super okay with that.
Then he goes and meets Lycomedes, who throws him off a cliff.
-
Next, let’s talk about Techno’s speech a bit.
He starts off by accusing Tommy of being a power hungry dictator (paraphrased), before asking him if he wants to be a hero.
Then, he provides what is apparently the archetypal example of heroism, something often associated with selflessness, kindness, and generally giving at least one singular solitary fuck about other people.
Theseus! Heroic hero who does heroic things, like, uhhh *checks notes* cheating on his wife, kidnapping children with plans to forcefully marry them, leaving people alone on tiny islands with no supplies, killing his kid, etc. etc...
So we’re off to a great start.
Then, he gives a short summary of Theseus’ life and times! He skips the first part of his life completely, which is hilarious to me because it’s the only time Theseus ever did anything actually heroic or selfless, and gets straight to the meat!
“Let me tell you a story, Tommy. A story of a man called Theseus. His country was in danger, he sent himself forward! Into enemy lines. He slayed the Minotaur! And saved his city. You know what they did to him, Tommy? They exiled him. He died in disgrace, despised by his people. That’s what happens to heroes, Tommy.”
-Technoblade
So first off, he doesn’t mention... really anything other than the Minotaur and the exile, which is leaving out a lot of relevant details, like why Theseus was exiled. (You know, killing his son in cold blood?)
Second, he doesn’t give details in general. Not that he should’ve given a full telling, or anything, but I’m always surprised by the shortness of this speech when I go back and listen to it. He pretty much just gives the barest bones of an argument and expects his audience to take it at face value. (Which they do, but it’s still bad practice)
From the more accurate (if still brief) summary if Theseus’ life I’ve just given, I’m sure you can see why this might be more than a bit dubious, as an analogy. Given cc!Technoblade is literally an English major, and doubtless knows significantly more about the myth than I do, I’d imagine this was never intended to be taken at face value.
Over and over again, c!Techno proves himself to be an unreliable narrator, and over and over again, the fandom at large takes his word as gospel.
-
Now, as far as a more in depth argument for Tommy as Theseus goes, I will attempt to debunk that as well, because there are some genuinely good points to be made.
First of all, most people make Dream out to be the Minotaur. Given the time this speech was made, I imagine Schlatt was the intended target of that, but with latter events in mind, Dream does make much more sense.
I’d say this is honestly pretty fair, but I don’t think Tommy takes the role of Theseus in that narrative. I’d argue he’s much more analogous to the role of Ariadne, giving the tools required to defeat Dream but ultimately not doing so through his own power, but because someone chose to take those tools and make use of them. This also provides the very interesting characterization of Punz as Theseus, which is an incredibly unique take that I hope some a Punz enthusiast does something with, because I don’t know enough about his lore to make a good analysis on that.
The idea of Schlatt as the Minotaur, as was probably intended by Techno at the time, makes much more sense, though I still think other characters fit the role better. Firstly, Schlatt wasn’t killed, he died of a heart attack, and if someone had killed him I think it’s more likely to have been Wilbur or Techno who did it than Tommy, as Tommy was still very hopeful and idealistic at the time, at least compared to his character now. You could posit Tommy as Ariadne again in this situation, given he was the one to mastermind the final charge, and though I think Tommy as Ariadne is an idea that’s worth further exploration, I’d say Fundy futs the Ariadne role here much better, with him giving the spy’s diary before being effectively shunned and left out in the cold by both Pogtopia and Manburg, much like Ariadne was abandoned in the original myth.
I’d posit the Theseus in this scenario as Techno, Wilbur, or possibly Philza, as they were the ones to actually kill things in the 16th, though Techno and Wilbur’s killings were more in the metaphorical sense, taking the second life of L’manburg.
As for the exile, Tommy exile was alike to that of Theseus only in concept. Both were sent from their kingdoms for a crime, resulting in a falling out with someone close to them, and had a precarious relationship with heights while they were gone, but that’s about where the similarities end and even then they’re superficial.
First of all, Tommy’s exile was far more because Dream was looking for an excuse to do it than because briefing actually means anything on the SMP, given how Dream had been griefing bases and blaming Tommy for it for a while before it went down. (Fun fact, Bad and Skeppy were going to burn one of his discs over this, but one of them got sick so they had to cancel the stream.)
Theseus’ exile, on the other hand, was entirely deserved, especially when you consider how serious a crime killing family was in Ancient Greek culture. It was pretty much the biggest no-no in existence, and I’m almost surprised he wasn’t just straight up executed for it.
Second, Tommy’s falling out with Tubbo was almost entirely due to outside forces, (Dream) rather than because anything Tommy had done. Though Tommy’s cavalierness towards the trial and attempts to threaten Dream with Spirit doubtless didn’t help things, Dream surrounding L’manburg in obsidian walls and threatening them to exile Tommy was entirely his own choice, and not something that can be pinned on Tommy, no matter what the apologists may say.
Meanwhile, Theseus’ falling out with Phaedra had begun long before his exile with him cheating on her. Him killing his son was merely the last in a long line of dominos to completely destroy their relationship.
Last, Tommy nearly killing himself is very different from Theseus being pushed off a cliff. Tommy’s near suicide was the direct result of physical and emotional abuse at the hands of c!Dream for what was canonically, I believe, several months? (Correct me if I’m wrong on that one.) Tommy almost jumping off a pillar because he was deliberately isolated from his support systems is nothing like Theseus being killed because he was a cocky asshole who thought he was god.
-
So that’s why I don’t think Tommy is anything like Theseus, and why I’m filled with endless rage by the completely uncritical acceptance of this parallel, but it’s not the whole reason it pisses me off.
It also pisses me off because, as stated earlier, cc!Techno is an English major. He knew what he was doing with this. The fandom’s insistence on refusing to acknowledge his character as an unreliable narrator is, in my opinion, acting as a massive kneecap to what could be a great analysis of how he thinks.
Specifically: why does c!Technoblade think Tommy is like Theseus?
Of all the Greek heroes to pick, why that one? Was it just the tantalizing opportunity to parallel Schlatt with a horned monster, or was it because c!Techno has some genuine in-character reason to think this myth specifically applies to Tommy.
Now, we all know people in the SMP have a habit of analogizing Wilbur and Tommy. The assumption Tommy wanted to be president, the belief that Tommy nominated Tubbo directly, the belief that he was intentionally deceiving Techno about Pogtopia’s intentions regarding Manburg... all of these stem from Wilbur. There are more cases of this, of course, but several analyses have been done in the subject already, and this is long enough without more padding.
So why does Techno think Tommy is Theseus? Well, it’s simple, isn’t it?
Wilbur is Theseus.
To be continued, because this is already too long and my brain hurts.

Beyblade One-Shot: Constellations
(Author’s Note: Yeah, this is really random. I got this idea of Ryuga and Kenta looking at constellations together and thought it would make a cute one-shot. This takes place in my fanfiction’s continuity after what is currently the newest Ryuga x King chapter: A Departing Battle, but this was written recently while those chapters are a month old now. This isn’t needed to understand anything going on there but I thought it was cute so I’m publishing it on its own. Anyways, enjoy!)
Ryuga’s POV
The night sky glistened through the treetops above Ryuga as he made his way through the familiar forest. A cool night breeze blew his white jacket back and forth. A peaceful aura surrounded him. The only sound was the slight ruffling of the leaves and Ryuga’s footsteps.
Ryuga suddenly stopped. Around him, the trees parted, allowing him to see the stars in all their glory. Without those irksome city lights, the stars glowed much brighter, like specks of gemstones, and more colours glowed around them. Ryuga had a contempt for big cities. They were generally loud and packed and their light tainted this beautiful night sky.
A new sound suddenly filled the air. Footsteps.
“Ryuga?”
“Hm?” Ryuga looked over his shoulder. Kenta was walking toward him, holding out a flashlight.
“I figured you’d be here,” Kenta replied, lowering the flashlight as he went to stand beside him. “What are you doing out after dark?”
“Getting fresh air…” Before Kenta could reply, Ryuga added, “Calm down, your parents know where I am.”
“You told them?”
“Mhm.” Ryuga nodded.
“Okay…” Kenta muttered to himself. “Good…” As Kenta texted his parents, Ryuga looked back up at the sky.
“Are you… looking at the stars?”
Ryuga looked away. “…maybe.”
He’d never told anyone about this appreciation of his. It probably seemed strange for someone like him to appreciate something like this.
Kenta smiled. “Do you know any of the constellations?”
“Just Draco,” Ryuga replied, with a shrug.
He had to admit he didn’t really see the point in assigning shapes to stars that were in reality, billions of kilometres away from each other. Why not just appreciate their beauty for what it was? There was no point in assigning silly stories to all of them. Still, Ryuga obviously knew about Draco, the constellation his bey, L-Drago, was based on. He could even see it now. The head was a small triangle and the body was the long twisting line of stars behind it, as if it were twisting its body around the way an Asian dragon would.
“Not even Sagittarius?” Kenta asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Sagittarius?” Ryuga froze. That’s right: Sagittarius was a summer constellation as well. He scanned the sky. However, he didn’t even have a basic idea of what the constellation was supposed to look like.
Kenta chuckled. “It’s right there.” He pointed at the night sky, forming some complex shape with his finger as if tracing the stars.
Ryuga tilted his head to the side. “Can you be more specific?”
“Here…” Kenta sat down on the ground. Ryuga sat next to him without a second thought. “Right there.” He pointed again. “That open triangle part is the legs.” He moved his finger up. “That long line is the body. Then that part is the arm and the part that goes out in the three directions is the bow.” Kenta held his hands out like he was holding a bow.
“Looks like a bunch of dots to me,” Ryuga grunted, his eyes narrowed.
Kenta shrugged. “Madoka showed me that one in Koma Village,” he informed, gazing at him with a smile. “Since then, I’ve been really interested in constellations. During the World Tournament, when I was left at home…” There was a pang of sadness in his voice at those words. “I started studying them since I had so much time. I can name most of the major ones.”
“How do you remember all that?” Ryuga asked, admittedly a little stunned.
“Well almost all of them have Beyblades based on them,” Kenta explained, looking back at the sky. “So I remember that way. Like right there…” He pointed at a cluster of stars that formed a triangle. “That’s Aquila, like Tsubasa’s Earth Eagle. I remember that because the corners of the triangle look a bit like wings and that one can be the head.”
Ryuga gazed at his friend silently. *Is this where these constellations came from? The mind of a child?*
“Seems like a stretch,” Ryuga replied with a shrug.
“Oh, come on, Ryuga,” Kenta nudged Ryuga’s shoulder. “You have no imagination.”
Ryuga rolled his eyes. “What are the rest of these?” he asked, laying down in the grass.
Kenta laid down as well. “Well…” He searched the sky for a few moments. “There’s part of Aquarius. It’s a little harder to see in July but you can see the tail part.” Kenta trailed his finger over the stars as if he were drawing a line on top of them to connect them.
Ryuga looked away. Aquarius… it was the constellation of the bey, Aquario. The one blader Ryuga knew with an Aquario bey was Hikaru. Guilt pricked his heart.
“Ooh!” Kenta perked up. “There’s Cygnus! The swan constellation.” Kenta gazed at Ryuga with a smile. “Fun story about that one, Yuki and Gingka told me how that constellation helped them find one of the Legendary Bladers by pointing the way into a temple.”
Ryuga raised an eyebrow. “A constellation did that?”
Kenta nodded. “Yeah, there were these rock pillars in front of it, right? And to open the door to the temple, Yuki had to fire his bey through the pillars with holes, forming the shape of the Cygnus constellation.” Kenta sighed, lying back down. “I wish I could’ve been there to see that.”
Ryuga’s jaw clenched. “No, you don’t.”
“Huh?” Kenta sat up again, tilting his head to the side.
Ryuga looked away, surprised at the jealousy that had suddenly pricked him like a needle.
“If you’d stayed with them, you never would have been friends with me,” Ryuga grunted, his fingers digging into the dirt.
Although Ryuga still somewhat resented how soft Kenta had made him, the idea of them never being friends made him feel sick.
“Right…” Kenta put his arms around Ryuga in a small hug. “Sorry, that’s not what I meant. I’m glad I followed you, and I’m glad we’re friends. I wouldn’t trade that for anything.”
Ryuga relaxed a bit. Kenta let go of him after a few moments, looking back at the sky.
“Um…” He gazed at the sky for a few moments in silence, as if searching for something to talk about. “There’s Pegasus…” He pointed to it.
“Pegasus? In Summer?” Ryuga was stunned. He was sure Pegasus was an Autumn constellation. Wasn’t that the reason Gingka was picked as a Legendary Blader?
“Yeah, you can see it as early as July,” Kenta answered with a nod. “That square is the body, those two lines are the legs, and that curved one is the neck and head.”
“Where are the wings?” Ryuga grunted, annoyance slipping into his tone. “That’s the whole point of Pegasus.”
Kenta shrugged. “Maybe this Pegasus doesn’t need wings to fly, like your L-Drago.”
“Pegasus means winged horse.”
Kenta smirked. “And dragon means winged lizard.”
“No, it doesn’t!” Ryuga blazed with indignation. How dare someone call his L-Drago a mere lizard?!
Kenta giggled into his hand. “According to America, it does.”
“Well, we’re not in America.”
*Thankfully,* Ryuga bit back the word as he remembered King, who had recently returned to America. He looked away, his heart aching.
“Anyways…” Kenta looked back up, pointing at the sky. “And there’s…” He suddenly froze, his eyes going wide.
Concern swept over Ryuga. “What? What is it?”
“S-Serpent…” Ryuga’s heart skipped a beat. “Er- Serpens. The… the snake constellation.” Kenta was suddenly shivering. He turned away, rolling over onto his side.
“Kenta?” Ryuga scooted closer.
His friend wasn’t meeting his gaze. Ryuga knew exactly what Kenta was remembering and that same memory made Ryuga’s blood boil. He opened his mouth to speak.
“I…” Kenta’s voice was weak. “I know I defeated Reiji and everything but…” He wrapped his arms around himself. “He still freaks me out. So many bad memories…”
Ryuga put his arms around Kenta, pulling him into a hug.
“I know,” Ryuga’s voice was soft. “It scared me too.”
Kenta looked up at him. “But you said yourself he can’t do a thing to you.”
“It wasn’t myself I was worried about,” Ryuga replied, pulling Kenta into his chest. “It was you being hurt.”
Kenta returned the hug, letting out a small sob. After a few long breaths, Kenta let go, shuffling away to gaze at the ground. Ryuga froze for a moment. He needed to get Kenta’s mind off that battle…
“What’s that one?” Ryuga nodded in the direction of a zigzag formation of stars.
Kenta glanced at it. “Oh… that’s Cassiopeia… I… don’t really know anyone with a bey like that.”
“Cassiopeia…” Ryuga dipped his head. “The queen from Greek mythology.”
“You know Greek Mythology?” Kenta asked, turning to him.
Ryuga shrugged. “A little. Cassiopeia boasted about… something so Poseidon turned her into a sea monster.”
Kenta raised an eyebrow. “Well, that seems like an overreaction.”
“Everything in Greek mythology was an overreaction to something. Zeus sees anyone? Has… kids with them. Poseidon loses a duel? Curses the city into a drought. Hades sees a pretty girl? Kidnaps her. Athena sees a woman in her sacred temple? Curses her to be a Gorgon. It’s ridiculous.”
“What’s a Gorgon?”
“It’s what Medusa was.”
Kenta flinched. “Wait, Medusa was cursed to be like that?” Ryuga nodded. “Oh…” He looked away. “That makes me feel a little bad for her.”
Ryuga nodded in agreement. He and Kenta looked back at the sky.
“You can’t see all of it but there’s Libra.” Kenta pointed at another cluster of stars, near the edge of the glade. “It kinda looks like a diamond during this time actually.”
Ryuga could see that. He stayed silent as Kenta pointed out more constellations.
“There’s Capricornus, it looks a bit like a goat’s head. And Scorpius…” He moved his finger back and forth in a line. “You can see the stinger. Oh! And of course Hercules, the hero from the Greek myths.” Kenta glanced at him. “Know anything about him?”
Ryuga shrugged. “Just that Hera hated his guts.”
“Why?”
“I don’t know. The Gods were all jerks. Besides Artemis. She was unproblematic.” *And awesome,* Ryuga thought to himself.
Kenta raised an eyebrow. “Didn’t she hate men or something?”
Ryuga nodded slowly. “Completely unproblematic.” He couldn’t stop himself from cracking a smile at that.
“Ryuga… you’re-you’re a boy…”
Ryuga chuckled. “Boys are the worst.”
“Ryuga, you’re gay.”
Ryuga glanced at his friend with a smile. “Then surely I know better than anyone?”
“You’re ridiculous.”
Ryuga and Kenta both chuckled.
Then Kenta let out a yawn. “We should start heading home,” he replied, standing up. “It’s getting late.”
Ryuga nodded, standing up as well. The two of them walked back to the house in silence.

they say its the little things in life that make you happy. But 2 complete strangers who know nothing of each other meet in the most unusual way and it goes a lot better than these two people expect.
YN the wandering traveler feeling all her life like something is missing something is wrong like she is only one half of herself.
Sam Winchester the brains the tech wiz all his life he has felt as though he is different but he hasn't figured out how. To everyone else he is this genius who graduated from Stanford, to someone else he is much more than that.
you have had the same dream for the last few months now, telling you to go to Greece, go to the Parthenon in Athens at closing and meet your destiny.
Sam had a dream one night telling him to go to the Parthenon in Athens Greece. He told his uncle and his brother booked the flight and left that same night to find his destiny.
you both were on the same flight un be known to each other fate had plans for you both, fate was the one thing you both would be meeting in Athens. by the time you both arrived in Athens it was mid afternoon. plenty of time before closing.
you both got off the plane separately and then it came time to find a cab, this would be when you and Sam would first meet. you went to the cab bay but saw only one cab there but couldn't reach it in time for someone else was already loading into it.
when the man looked back at you, he saw that you were flustered. he started towards you slowly before speaking.
Sam: excuse me, miss. are you okay?
YN: no I'm not okay i needed a cab to get somewhere but i couldn't get one before they were all gone. now you have the last one and i dont know how I'm getting to the Parthenon, or better yet to find a motel or something. but to the Parthenon first.
Sam: come on lets share the cab ride as it turns out you and i are going to the same place.
You give this man a gentle smile as he helps you load your bag and yourself into the cab. The drive to the Parthenon was calm, you and the stranger exchanged a few words.
You then both decided that you would stick together for it would be safer in a strange place.
Yn: I just realized I don't even think we introduced ourselves. My name is YN.
Sam extended his hand to meet your own before he spoke again.
Sam: Sam short for Samuel but everyone calls me Sam. So what brings you to see the Parthenon.
You were about to speak and then the cab stopped you guys had arrived at the Parthenon.
It was gonna be a tough thing to say that you were here because of a dream leading you to the Parthenon. But here went nothing.
Getting out of the cab you and Sam stand there looking at the Parthenon before you begin to speak.
Yn: I'm here because I had several dreams telling me to come here. That my destiny was here. That I would find what I didn't...
Sam: what you didn't know you were searching for... I had the same dreams. It was weird. Cause at first I thought hey It might just be a lead on a future hunt but then they happened more frequently and now I'm here.
You looked at him when he said hunt.
Yn: wait your a hunter?
Sam and you suddenly had more in common than you originally knew. You both walked over to the Parthenon and suddenly the room went white.
No other people to be detected only you and Sam in the room. But then 2 voices spoke.
Aphrodite: welcome YN before I reveal myself to you. I want you to know that I chose you as means to my own happiness, As well as your talents.
Yn: ya but who are you...
Then another voice spoke.
Hades: Sam your bravery and loyalty to your mission is why I've chosen you. Along side me you will inherit the gifts that I have to offer to turn you demi god. To help me do what I have to for the sake of my own happiness.
Sam: I have the same question as my friend here. Who are you?
That's when 2 figures dressed in robes of some kind one female and one males now standing in front of you and Sam. As they speak once more.
Aphrodite: I am Aphrodite goddess of love one of the main 12. Daughter of Zeus, wife to Hephaestus.
Hades: I am hades lord of the dead and God of the underworld one of the big 3. Zeus and Poseidon are my brothers. Persephone is my wife.
Yn: OK so what does this have to do with us?
Aphrodite: well that's the part we haven't explained. see its been about a year and a half now. Hades and i have been having a small love affair. betraying our married others for the comfort and peace we find in each other’s arms. we need a normal slice of reality for once.
Hades: point being we want to make you guys our equals so you can sub in for us. in my place Sam you will rule the underworld. command Cerberus and my armies should the need arise. as well as look after the domains including but not limited to Elysium and Tartarus.
Sam’s eyes all wide and shock clearly written on his face you turned to hear Aphrodite speak to you.
Aphrodite: in my place YN, you will well be the goddess of love. surely you haven't forgotten your research on the Greek gods/goddesses from school. i command the atmosphere of love on Olympus and here on earth. its by my hand that something good will come between you and Sam but that's a different story. there are a few things obviously that we are gonna have to separate you both to show you. but once we do that we are gone. but you both will be demi gods when we are here. then full gods when we aren't. its to keep up the ruse. there are things that happen automatically when we are around. so it is necessary that nothing disrupts that balance.
your eyes went wide with shock as well. you took one glance at Sam who looked at you as you both turned back to look at Hades and Aphrodite.
Sam: okay so what does this mean? like first of all we are here because we are following incessant dreams we both had telling us to come here and cause our instincts told us that this was a possible site for a case. not to become demi gods or whatever.
you pulled Sam to the side for a moment to speak to him.
YN: look i know this is probably a bit much. but i think i am gonna do this, I'm gonna take Aphrodite’s offer. i feel like I'm meant for so much more than just hunting monsters. this is my one chance to become the most badass demi goddess there is. and if you accepted too, I'm sure we would both see each other more often than we know.
Sam: i know its the reason we are here and its what we need to do, its what we are called to do. fine, lets do it.
you both walk back to Hades and Aphrodite.
YN: i YN accept Aphrodite’s offer to become a demi goddess. may i ever reign supreme with the lessons that you have to give Aphrodite!
you bow slightly out of respect as Sam speaks.
Sam: i Sam accept Hades’ offer to become a demi god. may i ever rule in as much style as the lessons of Hades’.
That's when the room started to change round the both of you, neither of you were beside each other anymore.
But instead Sam was in a room with hades, you were in a room with Aphrodite. Now we go to see what Sam is up to with hades.
Sam and hades are in hades' palace. Sam is standing before hades knowing that he is about to learn his role more in depth.
Hades: so first things first, we should be about the same size for clothing so go through my closet and put something on to reflect your new status as a demi god and as my new stand in. ill give you a few moments to choose your outfit.
Hades opens the closet and leaves Sam alone to browse and pick. he chooses a short sleeve no do up hooded cardigan, then he went to find some pants. he chose a pair of sleek black jeans with 3 zippers down each of the legs, ripped slits.
Sam: this should work, i don't need a shirt, its pretty toasty down here. i will want some shoes though, maybe some boots of some kind or something
Sam ended up finding a gold chain, a belt loop chain, and a pair of all black leather converse boots. he happily went out of the closet and walked to place his new wardrobe on the bed, getting changed he stands there looking in the mirror.
Hades comes back to the door, watching as Sam admires his new form in the mirror.
Hades: that look suits you Samuel.
Sam: i thought so, but i also hope that this new look will help me dig deep into my role as a demi god. but when I'm not here helping cover for you, can i go back to America and see my brother, my uncle, my friends.
Hades: of course. you will just get my voice in your head when its time for you to come back here. but for now. lets get you to the power chamber. so i can infuse you with some of my power and take you to meet with YN and Aphrodite. by the way Elysium is a beautiful place to romance a lady.
Sam: is that where?
Hades nods his head leading Sam to the center chamber in the palace. Sam takes a look around taking every detail of architecture and every detail of the warding.
Hades: those wards are to keep any damned souls that I have not summoned before me out of here. This business has some great perks and some souls just want revenge on you or me more specifically. But enough about that are you ready to become a demi god?
Sam: yes i am. tell me what i have to do?
hades leads Sam to stand in the center of the room, he then lifts his hands and a ring of fire surrounds Sam as Hades incantates
soon as hades was done, Sam felt the power flow into his being, his cells, his form change. he suddenly knew everything, he had all of hades knowledge about the realms of the underworld and some of its guests.
once the transfer is done Sam takes a knee to catch his breath, to regain some of his composure. once he is on his feet again, hades leads him on a tour of the pathways and where they lead before showing him to the portal platform where they wait for you and Aphrodite to show up.
Meanwhile, Aphrodite and you are choosing a outfit for you. after about a half hour of you ladies going through dress after dress your eyes landed on a sparkly deep purple Sheath/Column plunging V-neck Floor-Length Dress With Split Front.
Aphrodite: so this is the beauty that shall grace your form?
YN: yes it is. now, as the goddess of love what kind of...
Aphrodite: you just have to keep up appearances on the council of the gods, as well as make sure you greet Hephestus with a gentle glow, after all i was forced to marry him...
(~*author note: im twisting the mythology on this one. sorry for all those who read this and its not accurate to the mythology... mostly doing this to give the Hades/Aphrodite affair/ship... anyway back to the story!*~)
YN: i know all about that, Zeus did that to keep Hephestus and you in line. he is kind of an asshole. no offence....
Aphrodite began to giggle.
Aphrodite: non taken i totally would have said the same thing. i know you are the right candidate to become my protégé. and i am honored now to bestow to you this necklace as long as you wear it you will be able to walk on Olympus freely. and now i bestow to you my power, please use this power the same way i would, i know you will make me proud as you keep the balance between love and war. as my brother Ares so put it. he is right though. i hope you are gonna make me proud. now my little protege how do you feel?
you stare at yourself in the mirror for a moment beofre turning back to face aphrodite.
YN: like i suddenly have all this energy. Aphrodite, how will i know if something is right?
Aphrodite: are you refering to the connection between you and Sam?
YN: yes... i just ive never been in love before. i wouldnt know love if it bit me in the ass.
Aphrodite: i think it just did. my advice is to just make sure that Sam feels the same way you do. i am so proud to have someone so special as my protege. you will do great now when you are ready we will venture to the portal room in the underworld to meet Hades and Sam.
you pace for a moment and then stop suddenly.
YN: i dont think i can do this...
Aphrodite: girl if you are nervous just relax, this will only get worse if you dont relax. dont worry you will be fine, we will see what happens when we see those 2 again.
YN: thats just it Aphrodite. i dont know if i will be able to handle whatever...
you were about to speak again when Aphrodite opened a portal and pulled you through. within seconds you were standing with Aphrodite in front of Hades and Sam.
Aphrodite: i cant wait to live like mortals even for a short while with you hades.
Hades: feelings mutual. now lets give these 2 our immortality and take their mortality.
both you and Sam looked at them but too late you both were having the mortality within the 2 of you sucked out, replaced with immortality there were so much power going into the both of you that neither of you knew what to do.
By the time you both had found some kind of our footing, you were both glowing. Head to toe, neither of you noticed any changes right away.
Aphrodite: good luck and take care you 2.
Hades: we will see you in a month
With that they both took a different portal and were gone. Leaving you and Sam alone, the silence pooling between your legs, running down your thigh. This made you nervous, but Sam was eyeing you up and down.
Sam: come my lady let me show you one of the most romantic spots in the underworld.
sam leads you by the hand to the elysium. well thats where the magic began. thats where Sam then laid you passionately against the wall laying ferverious kisses from your neck to your chest and it felt so good.
Sam: im gonna get rid of our clothes and lets see how these new found abilities work.
with the snap of his fingers, both of you were laying in a field of flowers and Sam was on top of you.
His cock poised in front of your pussy, already soaked and dripping from the feeling of Sam against your form.
Sam: are you ready for me?
YN: does it matter if i am or not... just kiss me while you put it in and no need to be gentle. ill take whatever you give me lord of the underworld.
at that Sam kissed you, slamming his hard thick cock into your juicy dripping pussy. that was it your innocence, your virginity gone. your pussy conformed to Sam’s cock as he went in and out changing his pace quite often so you didnt climax till he was ready.
Sam: im gonna make you pregnant and then we will be the most powerful demi gods out there.
YN: i think we will be some of the most powerful. remember we are only proteges we just got these gifts. and now you are using yours to help us make love in the elysium fields. this is a turn of events and i thought i was supposed to be the goddess of love. fuck me into our eternal happiness.
Sam speeds up once more and kisses you passionately, ferverously, and feels every inch of your body. it made you vocal, the way his hands grazed across your skin.
Sam: you are absolutely delectable. i am so honored to have you all to my self right now. i love you YN.
YN: i love you too Sam.
well it was a while later when you were finally nearing climax.
YN: sam im cumming.
Sam: thats a good girl, cum for me...
not only did you cum but you squirted. it left you both breathless. Sam cuddled you close, spooning you as you both lay covered in a blanket of flowers. due to the power boost, he was still unloading inside you.
Sam: that was the most incredible passion that i have ever experienced. thank you for this fleet of passion. for the first time... this will be our eternity. this will be our daily occurance. i hope this evening after we meet with the council of the gods we can fall asleep together tonight or at least we can
YN: lay together. i still have to keep aphrodites place.
thats when a loud ringing was in both your ears! thats when your powers lit up like christmas, thats when you both knew that it was a short time before the council would be gathering and that would be the one moment for you both to sit with the fellowship of the gods and you both would be the most amazing stand-ins for your patrons than any other demi-god.
but what happened at the council meeting is another tale for another time.

Everything was great until Virgil started dreaming of the boy in the purple shirt spontaneously exploding in flames.
Well maybe “great” was too strong of a word. Virgil wasn’t sure anything had ever been “great” in his life. Not that he would admit that to anyone, because every demigod he so much as glanced at would have been offended by the very thought: Didn’t Virgil see how great life here was? How great it was to share a cabin with ten other kids who didn’t know the first thing about personal space, how great it was that he was dragged rudely from his dreams every day for yet another class on the ancient greek heroes that he had been going to since he was five, how great it was that he had mandatory sessions in the arena so he could get his butt handed to him in combat he never had any intention of doing for real, how absolutely, astoundingly great it was that if he stepped even a foot outside the perimeter there was a chance that something big, fast, monstrous, and specifically attuned to a scent that Virgil couldn’t wash off himself, was going to eat him.
But for a minute there, Virgil might have been able to convince himself that his life was “great”; Thomas Sanders, son of Poseidon, had stormed up to Olympus itself and then walked back out with an oath from the gods themselves that they would start claiming their kids earlier. Thomas Sanders, natural born leader, had convinced Chiron to support the addition to the cabins for the minor gods which meant that Virgil no longer had to squeeze his entire life into the two foot corner space of the Hermes cabin. Thomas Sanders, the most attractive demigod alive (objectively), had single handed fixed all the problems that had plagued the camp for much longer than even Virgil had been there for.
So with a new cabin that smelled like fresh laundered sheets, the dripping of the River Lethe from the branched of the tree in the corner, and nearly too many mattresses and pillows crammed into the room, Virgil thought maybe he could get used to the changes. After all, he could stretch his legs out now, breathe easy, and sleep for as long as he wanted, considering there wasn’t going to be a Hermes kid stealing his things for fun, a Hecate kid lighting him on fire with a misplaced spell, or a Nike kid instigating a fist fight to prove how victorious they were.
And yeah, it had been a little frustrating getting to this point: godly wars weren’t exactly prime teenage experience. Virgil was pretty sure over half the camp needed a good therapist, but where were they going to find one of those? Demigods didn’t live to reach twenty five, much less gain a psychology degree after being kicked out of every school they’ve ever been to for monster attacks and open a practice for an exclusive clientele who really didn’t have the drachma to pay them.
The gods sometimes had a bit of sympathy for them, but it was never going to be enough. Virgil knew it, but he accepted it. Some things just weren’t going to be fair in this life. One of those things was that his dad was a god who didn’t understand first world mortal problems.
But things had finally– finally– settled down.
Thomas had made everyone lives better.
Virgil remembered the first day he had seen Thomas: he had been sitting on the Big house porch watching the rainfall in the thunderstorm forcing himself to stay awake because he was waiting for Talyn (a child of Demeter who had been assigned to help him to the medical ward after they had pretty brutally beat him in their sparring class) to finish chatting with Chiron. He remembered how the lighting had struck off in the distance illuminating and he had seen something, someone running along the hill. He remembered suddenly being wide awake and yelling for Talyn, Chiron, anyone, and they came flying at his calls.
He remembered seeing the shaky, weary, battered boy, collapse just feet from Talyn, with an unconscious satyr on his shoulder.
Compared to that Thomas, who had been scared and panicked and unsure, the new Thomas was completely improved. He knew pretty much every demigod in camp, chatted with the naiads in the canoe lake and brought donuts to the pegasi. With Talyn and Joan (his satyr best friend) he had grown to fit the prophecy that he had been destined with. Powerful and loyal.
Bonus points were that unlike everyone else, Thomas saw Virgil. He had never shied away from his dark, gloomy personality, his dismissive tone, his bored gaze. Thomas went out of his way to ask Virgil how he was doing, talk about the dreams that he might have had, offer him canoeing lesson (which Virgil always declined because water and him didn’t really….click).
When he was around everything was as close to great as Virgil had ever thought they were going to get.
Then he had the dream.
Dreams in themselves were nothing new: Virgil was a son of Hypnos, god of Sleep. He spent more time sleeping than he spent being awake. Even as a small kid he had known he was different, his dreams more powerful and he had the ability to change them into different things. It had taken years to hone the skill, and even then he still accidentally gave himself vivid nightmares. (Wild emotions and unresolved arguments caused him to forget the difference between reality and the astral plane he had a back door to.)
But of all his siblings he had the most control by practice. The only person who could upstadge him was Remy his half sibling with a natural talent for manipulating other people’s dreams. Mostly he used to watch the drama of the other kids in the camp, to weasel subconscious information from them and then feed it to the the appropriate cliques: Remy was responsible for the Aphrodite Cabin’s sudden success of setting up kids together, the streak of foiled pranks from the Hermes cabin, and petition signed by half the camp to put a starbucks in.
Remy could manipulate the astral plane easily but he could only affect those he slept near. He struggled to dance between the strings of dreams the way Virgil did. Virgil could find out what kids in Virginia were dreaming about but he couldn’t do much but watch them or turn his own dreams into nightmare realms.
They balanced each other out. Virgil was okay with that.
And Remy, despite having come to camp two years after him, had wanted to be cabin leader far more than Virgil. They had shook hands on it and called it a day.
When Virgil fell asleep he had every intention of just minding his own business. He rarely enjoyed dream walking–actually he had never once intended to go walking through anyone else’s dreams. Other people dreamed weird, strange things: sometimes nightmares, sometimes nonsense, sometimes in depth private things that Virgil wanted no part in.
His dream had started out normal: Virgil was lying in an empty meadow, staring up at made up constellations, and a soft, pleasant breeze echoing through the air. Virgil knew he was dreaming instantly because he had never been to a place like this ever before in his life and also because he was warm and cozy in his purple sweatshirt– one that had been ripped to shreds a decade ago on his lovely adventure to get to the safe haven that was Camp Half Blood.
Virgil had breathed in deep, always impressed with the details of the astral plane no matter how many times he had seen it. He felt like he was really there, the ground was hard under his body, he could feel the individual fibers of his jacket, taste the slightly earthy flavor of the atmosphere and the smell of rain that suggested a storm was coming soon.
The stars had danced in little patterns that Virgil had always found calming. This was his safe spot, his secret home, his escape from the prison that was camp without actually endangering his life at all. It was how he stayed sane.
He couldn’t quite put his hand on what was so weird about it that night, what had tipped him that something was off. But he had frowned and sat up looking around for the source of the unease that had come over him.
The ground had quaked, rumbled, and then without a single warning crumpled underneath him. Virgil screamed, his stomach flung into his throat, his arms flailed for something, anything to stop his fall into the unknown black abyss. He grabbed the walls of the hole he was fall in but turned to sand in his hands. Thunder clashed over head, clouds swirling in circular hurricane-esque shapes. Invisible energy built up around his form, ripping and tearing at his body, pressing against his temples, pulsing angrily until Virgil could barely breathe.
He was falling.
And it wasn’t right, Virgil knew it wasn’t right. This was his homespace, his best protected sanctuary. Not even Remy could get in here without Virgil letting him in. But something, someone had gotten in and they were changing things without Virgil’s permission, and they were changing them more forcibly than Virgil could stop them.
The blackness shuddered, echoing with noises Virgil didn’t recognize at first. Latin and Greek and English phrases from disembodied voices.
“Thomas!”
“Thomas?”
“Thomas, where are you?!”
Everything was so dark, Virgil hadn’t been able to see his hands, much less been able to brace himself for the floor that suddenly was under him akin to a bullet train running him over. The air was violently slammed out of him, and his ribs made a crack that he was sure they weren’t supposed to do.
“HELP!” Thomas– that was definitely Thomas’s voice– screamed, “Someone! Please!”
Virgil tried to get up but his entire body screamed in protest, something warm and sticky coated the floor but Virgil couldn’t see was it was. He could hear Thomas nearby, hear the other boys stumbling footsteps. He tried to say something, anything, that would let him know that he wasn’t alone, but he couldn’t even inhale.
“Someone help me!” Thomas yelled, “Please, I don’t want to die.”
Without warning, flames exploded in the air around Virgil, searing hot and blinding. Virgil flinched away, smoke wrapping his head and strangling what little air he had. Blearily he managed to look up through the flames to see a figure standing over him, coated in the flames– no the making the flames. They rolled off him like waves of unbearable heat.
“Thom…as…” Virgil gasped, but he was wrong.
Virgil remembered him clearly: passive indifference as if he had never felt an emotion ever before in his life, a stiff lip and dull blue eyes, framed by black glasses and his hair neatly combed to the side. Flames licked his toned arms and Virgil caught a glimpse of something tattooed on his shoulder before the fire swallowed it up.
Whoever he was, he stood over Virgil, wearing a seared purple shirt. “Who is Thomas?”
Then smoke flared between the two of them breaking them apart like a curtain. Virgil squeezed his eyes shut trying to brace himself for an attack—
It never came.
Silence.
Virgil dared peak up, and found himself sitting in his empty meadow, the stars dancing over head without a cloud in the sky. There was no sign of the upturned earth or the darkness, Thomas, or the boy in the flames.
Virgil ripped at the collar of his sweatshirt, forcing a breath out of his teeth. What the fuck what the fuck what the fuck. He didn’t know what was going on, but he knew that Thomas was in danger, Thomas had been yelling for help, Thomas needed help–
Virgil threw himself up and stumbled on his feet before he forced a doorway open and plunged himself into the astral plane barreling through dreams like there were Hellhounds on his tail.
“Thomas!” Virgil yelled stumbling into the dream area he knew belonged to the son of Poseidon. His heart was beating so loudly he was sure it was going to explode. What if he was too late? What if Thomas hurt, or dying, or dead? What if Virgil didn’t make it in time–
He tumbled head over heels into Thomas’s dreamscape. Energy buzzed around him, angrily at the intruder, but Virgil couldn’t have cared less about it. He frantically darted forward to find Thomas, find Thomas, find him–
“Virgil?”
Thomas appeared to his left with a confused expression. Virgil let out an explosive sigh of relief, seeing that he was alright. No sign of panic, no sign of even a mild discomfort on him. Just a bit of confusion and worry.
“What are you doing here?” Thomas asked, “I don’t remember–”
Virgil took a calming breath again. His hands were shaking uncontrollably. He restrained himself from throwing his arms around Thomas.
He was a dumbass! It had been a Nightmare! A fiction! Something made up based on his subconscious emotions and he had allowed it to control him. No one had been breaking into his dreamscape, no one had taken over his dream. It had just been him, being a dumbass.
Thomas was fine, he was safe. And even if he wasn’t, there were people much more qualified to help him than Virgil was. They weren’t even friends!
“Is…is this The Office?” Virgil asked, desperate to get the voices in his head to shut up, “You’re dreaming about The Office?”
“I am?” Thomas looked around as if just realizing what was going on. “Huh, cool!” He turned back to Virgil with a quizzical look, “Everything okay? I mean, you don’t really visit me unless something’s wrong.”
“It’s, uh,” Virgil mumbled. He should have told Thomas. He should’ve said something. But Thomas was the Hero of Olympus, and could definitely take care of himself. Plus Virgil getting all panicked over a dream was like number one on his list of things-not-to-do in front of his celebrity crush.“Nevermind. Sorry for interrupting.”
Before he could change his mind he turned on heel and threw himself from the dream with a vigur that drowned out Thomas’s yells for him to wait, stop, you don’t have to go!
Thomas was great.
Virgil wished he had told someone about the dream. Wished that he hadn’t bolted from Thomas’s dream like that, wished that he hadn’t avoided the son of Poseidon for the next two weeks. He told himself it was nothing, and that the strange burn on his forearm had been from the Lava wall the week before. Two weeks turned into three, and then three turned to four without incident.
Thomas still offered him canoeing lessons, no one woke in the middle of the night screaming, no new campers with glasses wandered through the borders and caught fire. It was as painfully dull as living in camp had ever been.
Everything was great.
Then, on the last day of summer, Thomas Sanders went missing without a trace.

ANNABETH'S CONNECTIONS/RELATIONSHIPS.
( aka how i change shit up from canon and ruin all of rick’s hard work )
annabeth has a lot of significant relationships in her life. from friends to family, parents to parental figures, annabeth takes each relationship she has and builds it carefully into who she is as a person. i’ve split this section up into two chunks-- annabeth’s biological family, and then annabeth’s friends/other important figures in her life.
this for sure was supposed to be all the ways she diverges from canon, but it’s so fuckin long, i decided that’s going to be a separate post altogether. jesus christ, luna.
☆.。₀:*゚✲゚*: FAMILY
annabeth’s relationship to her family members is incredibly complicated, both because she ran away at such a young age and because it’s wildly inconsistent. what we see of the chase family especially is extremely different from what we hear annabeth say about them, so it’s hard to tell if annabeth was exaggerating or if things have just changed since she was little. when we see annabeth’s family officially for the first time, it’s been two or three years since they’ve seen annabeth. she ran away from home at seven, and didn’t see her father or stepfamily for three years until she returned home for a couple of weeks, then returned abruptly back to camp. she didn’t see them for another two or three years after that. her relationship with them is, at least in my interpretation, a mix of things. the damage to her relationship with especially her dad and her stepmom was done so early, repairing that was always set up for failure. i’m going to go through her family members one-by-one, so here we go--
*:·゚✧ ATHENA ( mother )
annabeth was always one of athena’s favorite. while a lot of halfbloods aren’t close to their godly parents, my version of annabeth is one of the special exceptions that gets a fair amount of attention from athena. she’s clever, she works hard, she’s a strong leader and a protective sibling. she’s always strived to give athena no reason to doubt her or dislike her. however, their relationship’s grown and changed as she’s gotten older-- it’s gotten more complicated, and annabeth started to struggle. she wants to make her proud, but for the first time, they start butting heads, and annabeth really ultimately has to accept that she’s never going to be the perfect daughter, and that’s okay.
*:·゚ ANNABETH’S CHILDHOOD ( birth - age 7 )
annabeth had no official contact with athena when she was younger. i believe athena kept an eye on her daughter, though she didn’t interfere in annabeth’s struggles at all.
*:·゚ ANNABETH’S TIME AT CAMP HALFBLOOD ( age 7 - 13 )
when annabeth ran away from home, it was athena that guided her to luke and thalia. though she didn’t interfere after that, athena still awaited annabeth’s arrival at camp halfblood. when annabeth finally did arrive, she was claimed almost immediately by athena. at first, annabeth didn’t actually believe that athena was her mother-- or, more specifically, that she had a parent that wanted to claim her, and was proud to do so-- and her idolization of her mother was almost immediate.
annabeth became her mother’s most devoted child-- she prayed to her, she left gifts for her at her altar, she took care of her siblings, and eventually became the counselor of athena’s cabin. athena showed her favor towards annabeth, and annabeth really did her best to imitate athena in every possible way she could.
*:·゚ ANNABETH’S RELATIONSHIP WITH PERCY & THE TITAN WAR ( age 13 - 16 )
“i’ve been here since i was a kid, i did everything they ever asked. yeah, i did. and for what?”
annabeth’s relationship was strong until she started to get close to percy, and everything sorta went to hell when annabeth started dating percy. poseidon and athena’s rivalry wasn’t a surprise to anyone, and was something that in the beginning in canon we can see that it really bothers annabeth that percy is the son of poseidon. but annabeth gets over it and starts dating percy anyway.
it’s then that her relationship with athena really suffers. angry with her daughter, athena really pushes her daughter away, and cuts her off almost completely. annabeth is devastated by this, but decides not to break up with percy just to please her mother ( though in some verses where percabeth isn’t a thing, this fear/response from athena prevents annabeth from dating percy, and she eventually gets over her feelings for him ). this puts annabeth in an incredible precarious position-- luke’s left at this point, and it would’ve been INCREDIBLY easy for annabeth to take her resentment towards athena rejecting her because of her relationship with percy and channel it into the cause she’s fighting for. i sincerely think that if luke hadn’t left at that point yet, annabeth would’ve come with him when he did.
*:·゚ ANNABETH’S PROMOTION TO ARCHITECT ( age 16 - present )
annabeth’s efforts in the titan war and her promotion to architect of olympus are what finally start to repair her relationship with athena. the two of them decide to make a pact that they will not discuss percy with each other, and with their differences at least ignored if not resolved, their close relationship is on its way to returning once again. while they’re nowhere near as close as they were before, athena makes more of an effort to be supportive of her daughter, even if it’s hard for her.
even though athena is no longer actively disapproving of percy, athena’s dislike of percy still puts a strain on annabeth’s relationship with percy. she’s made a lot of executive decisions based on this that stand in the way of her relationship-- most notably, when it comes to marriage. obviously percy and annabeth are way too young still in the books, but for my version of annabeth, she knows that if percy ever asked her ( and i believe he does, eventually ), she would say no. not because she doesn’t love him, or doesn’t want to marry him, but more because she’s worried that would push her relationship with athena into jeopardy again, and she doesn’t believe she would ever approve.
*:·゚✧ FREDERICK CHASE ( father )
*:·゚ ANNABETH’S CHILDHOOD ( birth - age 7 )
“i never see you anymore. come out the door. it’s like you’ve gone away.”
honestly, frederick was just never really an attentive father in annabeth’s early years. we know from canon that he was very focused on his work and his career, and that this was incredibly difficult on annabeth. she took her father’s lack of involvement in her life as him blaming her for all of the monster attacks, and resenting being her father, which contributed greatly to her decision to run away, especially when they fought regularly about monsters putting the family at risk.
*:·゚ ANNABETH’S TIME AWAY FROM HOME ( age 7 - 13 )
“where were you when everything was falling apart? all my days spent by the telephone that never rang when all i needed was a call that never came...”
nothing was more of a wakeup call to the chase family as annabeth running away. frederick wasn’t exactly the most attentive dad in the world, and annabeth disappearing is something that just rattles him out of his intense obsession with his work/career. he knew annabeth was having trouble-- monsters were attacking on the regular, how could he not be aware of it?-- but he didn’t really think or do much about it until it was too late.
frederick’s remorse about this is immediate. he attempts to get into contact with annabeth, and is ignored for a LONG time. he’s just about lost all hope when she finally decides to write back to him, and after a large amount of coaxing, annabeth agrees to come home and visit. so, when she’s ten, back she comes to virginia.
it lasts about two seconds. they hit all the same problems they did before, arguing about the danger annabeth’s presence puts the family in-- some of which is projected onto frederick by annabeth, who deals with her guilt by resenting the people she thinks will blame her, or that do blame her. she stays for about a week before she calls chiron and heads back to camp.
after she leaves, in an attempt to apologize, frederick sends annabeth his class ring, which she wears on her necklace from camp. she lets him know that she got back to camp safely, and doesn’t talk to him for another few years.
*:·゚ ANNABETH’S TEENAGE YEARS ( age 13 - present )
frederick and annabeth eventually start talking to each other again. annabeth can’t really repair her relationship with her dad, nor does she want to, but they agree to try and meet every couple of months and spend a day together. annabeth introduces him to percy officially ( he’s met percy before this, but this is the Official Meet The Parents meeting ), and introduces him to sally jackson as well in the hopes that sally will be able to show frederick how to handle and support your demigod children. it doesn’t really work, but she still makes an effort.
frederick invites annabeth home for holidays after a while. she never agrees, but she appreciates the invitation and sends presents home for him and her half brothers.
*:·゚✧ HELENE CHASE ( stepmother )
*:·゚ ANNABETH’S CHILDHOOD ( age 5 - 7 )
“i didn’t wanna’ cause trouble, trouble. i’m less the player and more the played.”
annabeth’s relationship with helene is so wildly complicated honestly it’s hard to find somewhere to begin. helene got married to frederick when annabeth was five years old, and annabeth was initially thrilled about the idea of having a mom. we know a wide variety of conflicting things about her from canon that make it difficult to figure out their relationship. annabeth remembers helene as being hostile towards her, which was deeply upsetting to her and incredibly frustrating. part of annabeth’s fear of spiders was agitated by helene not believing her, and getting upset with her for scaring her half brothers because she kept screaming. helene also got in between frederick and annabeth, trying to let frederick focus on his work instead of his children. it was from a desire to see him succeed, but to a kid as young as annabeth, it was helene being the bad guy and keeping her from her dad.
*:·゚ ANNABETH’S TIME AWAY FROM HOME ( age 7 - 13 )
so how did we get from there to helene asking percy to remind annabeth that she’s always got a family there? the answer-- time. annabeth went from being a nuisance and a danger in the house to being gone completely. while helene might’ve not been thrilled with annabeth’s behavior / the danger she brought back with her, i don’t think she ever really thought of the consequences of her treatment of annabeth. it’s not like anyone expected her to run away, so when she did, it was a bit of a wakeup call that she feels really guilty about.
she takes a step back and doesn’t interfere with annabeth’s relationship with frederick after that. she makes an effort to be kinder and more considerate when it comes to annabeth, but at that point, it’s kinda too late. annabeth’s brief return home when she was ten did nothing for their relationship, even though she made more of an effort to get along with annabeth. in a lot of ways, helene feels responsible for annabeth leaving. she also has to keep her two sons with frederick safe, though, and monsters running around trying to kill their half sister isn’t really helping with that. still, the whole family tries to get annabeth to come back, which is where we have in the titan’s curse talking to percy--
“Tell her she has a home here, will you? Remind her of that.” - The Titan’s Curse
clearly at this point, she’s doing everything she can to mend that relationship. at this point, though, annabeth just refuses to get along with her, or see her.
*:·゚ ANNABETH’S TEENAGE YEARS ( 13 - present day )
annabeth and helene never see eye-to-eye. annabeth goes home occasionally, but there was a long time after she got back into contact with frederick where she refused to go to the house, and only wanted to see him. this is partly because her relationship with her stepfamily is bad, and partly because she feels guilty about the monsters that have made their lives harder. when annabeth eventually starts seeing the whole family again, though, she only does for short amount of time. she and helene never get close, even though helene makes more of an effort. it’s just not enough and at this point, they’re both aware of the fact that they’re never going to get along.
*:·゚✧ MATTHEW & BOBBY CHASE ( half brothers )
there’s really not much to be said about annabeth’s relationship with matthew and bobby at all. they’re nice and normal kids, and part of her resents them for it, and they resent her a little bit too for being such a problem when they were really little ( they don’t remember it much since they were two when she ran away ), but being a constant sore spot in the family. she also never attended things like their graduations, etc., for fear of monsters attacking. they don’t have much of a relationship with each other at all, and the three of them are all okay with that.
☆.。₀:*゚✲゚*: FRIENDS / OTHER CONNECTIONS
annabeth has a lot of connections it’s a nightmare. these are her friends, mentors, romantic connections, and then rachel.
*:·゚✧ CHIRON ( mentor )
chiron’s like annabeth’s unofficial dad. he took her in after she ran away from home, and was her mentor at camp that she really latched onto as her pseudo father. annabeth holds a great amount of respect for chiron, which is the same respect she has for him in canon.
the only place i really go off on their canon relationship is when it comes to how much annabeth is aware of.while she’s incredibly young, it’s shown very clearly that she’s one of the unofficial leaders of camp, even in the lightning thief. chiron trusts annabeth with a lot of knowledge, and i fully believe that if something was to ever happen to chiron, it would be up to annabeth to lead the camp alongside mr. d.
*:·゚✧ LUKE CASTELLAN ( friend turned enemy )
“what do you do when it’s up to you to choose-- has something ended or begun? stay or go : pick one.”
of all the people in her life, luke was the one that shaped annabeth’s life the most. i think canon did their relationship a disservice by focusing more on percy’s response to luke’s initial betrayal ( which is because he’s the main character and annabeth isn’t, but fight me ). luke and annabeth have a lot of history together. year and years of it. luke’s known annabeth since she was seven years old, she’s known him since he was twelve. they were kids that bonded in the most difficult circumstances, and as a result, annabeth is wildly dependent on luke.
his betrayal hits her deep, and she’s incredibly conflicted as to why. simple answer: annabeth loved luke. as well as their strong platonic bond, she canonically has a crush on him ( not officially stated, but she’s blushing like a schoolgirl and flustered whenever he talks to her ), and while she says in the last olympian that she never had feelings for him like that, she did. she’s deeply wounded by his betrayal, but for mixed reasons. part of her is mad that he betrayed them, obviously, but part of her-- a part that she resents and hates-- is mad at him for not asking her to come with him. this, i believe, is the reason why annabeth denies her feelings at the last minute when she’s talking to luke.
along with thalia, annabeth considers luke to be her first love. there was never a romantic aspect to their dynamic, it was purely platonic, but i don’t think her love for luke should disqualify him from being her first love just because it’s platonic. it’s 2019, people, platonic love is just as if not more important than romantic love.
*:·゚✧ THALIA GRACE ( friend )
“and maybe if i’d been a little bit braver. maybe if i stayed behind to fight. but maybe doesn’t let me go back and save her. maybe doesn’t make it alright.”
like luke, thalia was also annabeth’s first love. they traveled together for a long time, and grew incredibly close. while annabeth doesn’t have as long of a history with thalia as she does with luke, thalia is instrumental to who annabeth became. thalia was the definition of what a true hero looked like, and her sacrifice hit annabeth hard. i don’t really divert from canon a lot here, but i will just say that when thalia joined the hunters, annabeth was pissed. she’d just lost luke, her whole world had been turned upside down, and the ONE PERSON she thought could really understand her, the one that had traveled with her and luke, the one that had the best chance of helping her bring luke back to the right side, and she peaced out to join artemis’ hunters instead. annabeth never really gets over this, and while she’s always glad to see thalia, part of her will always be mad at thalia for leaving, even if she understands why.
*:·゚✧ RACHEL ELIZABETH DARE ( oracle / pseudo-rival )
not much to say here, i just need to emphasize that annabeth’s initial dislike of rachel is NOT jealousy because she’s worried she might snatch percy away from her. i hate that, it’s catty, it’s immature, and it implies that annabeth doesn’t trust percy, which she absolutely does. annabeth is upset because rachel comes without a lot of baggage that she does, and she knows realistically that rachel would probably be a better match for percy. rachel doesn’t have a mom that despises percy because of who he is, she doesn’t have deep connections to the person that’s betrayed them to help kronos, she’s creative and pretty and smart in ways that annabeth simply isn’t. it hurts her feelings and her ego, and she’s mean to rachel because she can see in her what percy is missing because he’s with her. i’m not saying it’s mature or justified, that’s just how she approaches rachel and what makes her hostile towards her.
*:·゚✧ PERCY JACKSON ( friend / boyfriend )
“ in search of silver linings, we found gold . . .”
not a whole ton has really changed about annabeth’s relationship with percy from canon, but i’m going to very quickly say a couple of things about how i see it, and then establish the non-percabeth arc of annabeth’s story, since it’s not the same in all versions and i know some people don’t ship percabeth. in any verse, however, annabeth trusts percy with her life, and would do anything it took to protect him. their relationships, both platonic and romantic, are founded on trust, honesty, and loyalty to each other, and i will never ever EVER support a cheating plot with them. if percy ever cheated on annabeth, she would drop him so fast he got whiplash, and she would never cheat on percy. please don’t approach me with a bad breakup plot with them based around someone cheating, i stg. okay. let’s go.
in the verse where they ARE together, i’ll just say that annabeth sacrifices a lot for percy. i touched on this a lot before, so i won’t harp on it, but annabeth’s relationship with percy fucks up her relationship with athena, so it’s not something she takes lightly. her feelings for percy are strong and profound. i touched on this before too but it’s important to note that while percy is annabeth’s first longterm relationship/boyfriend, he is not her first love.
beyond this, just a couple of small things that hold true for the most part with their purely platonic verse/relationship as well-- annabeth blames herself for a lot of the pain and suffering percy goes through. she blames herself for percy going missing in the heroes of olympus series. she will never, EVER forgive herself for him coming into tartarus with her. BUT in all the situations they’ve been together in, she’s never regretted being by his side and supporting him-- she trusts him, she believes in him, and she’s sure of herself and him enough to risk a lot to be by his side.
in the verse where they are NOT together, aka platonic-only with percy, annabeth still had feelings for percy briefly, but ultimately decided it was not worth alienating herself from her mother just to risk being in a relationship that didn’t work out. she’s well aware of the animosity between athena and frederick, and she doesn’t want to risk it all for something to end like that. additionally, annabeth is still reeling from luke’s betrayal ( again, so important to her growth, cannot be stated enough ), and her mind really isn’t on dating at the time or romantic pursuits, only on getting luke back and stopping kronos.
i see annabeth and percy as being incredibly close and supportive of each other regardless of their romantic/platonic dynamics, so unless otherwise plotted, this is the version of her i will be focusing on. while annabeth is incredibly joking and a little outwardly flirty in her own respects, i will never force ship percabeth. unless we’ve agreed they’re dating / percy says they’re dating first, i will play her as being platonically close to him, and that’s it. this holds true for all her ships, but since percy’s her main love interest, i’m putting this out there.
sally and paul’s dynamics with annabeth are centered around percy and annabeth’s relationship, but this, i believe, can also be read as being percy introducing annabeth as his best/close friend and not his girlfriend. this is how i’ll be approaching each dynamic here unless we’ve plotted otherwise, so. choose your own adventure.
*:·゚✧ SALLY JACKSON ( percy’s mother )
pure and simple, annabeth loves sally. she always wanted a parent like sally, and if helene had been more like sally, she never would’ve run away. annabeth embraces any time spent with sally as a break from the madness, and she’s relieved that she has a little pseudo family outside of camp that she can go to and not feel guilty for all the potential trouble she brings with her. she’s spent a few holidays at home with percy and his family, and she treasures those times and memories far more than any memories she shares with her own family.
i will just say that while percy is missing, annabeth doesn’t know how to talk to sally. she’s overwhelmed and feels guilty and doesn’t want to scare sally, so she ignores her for a bit before being honest with her about things. she thinks that sally will blame her when anything negative happens to percy, and it’s always a shock when she doesn’t.
their relationship sticks pretty close to canon overall, it just needed to be addressed.
*:·゚✧ PAUL BLOFIS ( percy’s stepdad )
my version of annabeth is incredibly close to paul. he’s smart, he’s fun, he’s good to sally, and is just all around a nice guy. annabeth is more than a little bit envious that percy has such great ( mortal ) parents-- she adores sally, and paul is the stepparent she always wanted. percy and sally have their own special bond, and annabeth’s relationship with percy puts her on the same level as paul, with both of them being both outsiders and insiders in the jackson family. annabeth talks to paul more often than she talks to her own family members, and the two of them exchange books and stuff.
annabeth also asks paul for advice when she needs some parental guidance that athena’s either too busy for or uninterested in. athena and annabeth made a deal not to discuss percy or anything to do with him after annabeth’s relationship with him alienated her from her mother for a long time. so, since she doesn’t have a parent she really trusts to both understand her life and support her as a person, paul is the one she ends up turning to. my version of annabeth will hang out with paul independently of spending time with percy’s whole family, and since annabeth hasn’t really gone to public school since she was seven, paul helps her out and gets her through getting her GED and taking the SATs. they’re little things in the grand scheme of things, but for annabeth, it means everything.
paul is one of the first people annabeth talked to about her time in tartarus. i seriously cannot express how important paul is to annabeth, he adopts her just like he adopts percy and she values and cherishes him as a person, a mentor, and just a friend.
you made it to the end! have this gif of annabeth smiling as your prize

I’ll Be Good (Chapter 2)
A/N: Part 2 of my Theo Series! Enjoy guys!
Link to Part 1
Lyle picked Lillian up in front of the coffee shop. He pulled up in a dark blue sedan just as she was locking up Beacon Brew. He rolled down the window and smiled at her, jokingly calling out “Need a ride?”.
She grinned, and walked over. “Hey. So what’s the plan?”
“I was thinking we could go look at some stars,” he told her, getting out of the car. “And have a picnic if you’re not too stuffed from pastries and coffee.”
“They don’t pay me enough to eat here,” she told him plainly, as he pulled the passenger door open for her.
She smiled to herself, thinking it had been a very long time since a guy had done that for her. Well, except for Scott. He did that all the time, but that was for everyone, and it was nice to feel special.
“So how long have you worked at Beacon Brew?” Lyle asked as they drove down the road.
“Since I graduated, so about two years,” she said thoughtfully.
“You’re in school right?” he asked. “I see you reading a textbook behind the counter sometimes.”
She smiled. “I thought I was being discreet.”
He laughed. “Not quite.Don’t worry I won’t rat you out.”
“Yeah. I go to Beacon Community. Well, I’m taking online classes now, so I don’t technically go there, but you know what I mean.”
“Ah. Didn’t feel like sitting in class?”
“I had a lot going on when I first enrolled,” she told him truthfully. “I wanted to be able to have as much of a free schedule as I could.”
If Lillian could have told him the whole story, she would have. She would have told him about the time she searched for Lydia for five hours in the dead of night after she disappeared from their sleepover to go find a body. She slept through all of her classes the next day. She would have told him about the time Malia ran into her Political Science lecture, grabbing her arm and hauling her out the door so she could help her catch a rabid omega.
Without Scott and Stiles in Beacon Hills, the responsibility of supernatural bullshit fell to her, Malia, and Lydia. While she wasn’t at all opposed to a little girl power, she wanted to be able to live her life too. That meant not skipping class every time Liam called her about a new werewolf he had seen in school, which half the time turned out to just be a really smelly student.
If Lyle knew about the supernatural, she could have told him this. Now she was having to lie about the very first question he asked, and she wondered if dating would always be like this. Would her relationships always be built on lies?
The look on her face must have been grim, because Lyle flushed. “Sorry. We can totally talk about something else.”
“It’s okay,” she assured him. “I’m doing a lot better this semester. What about you?”
“I actually just moved here a couple weeks ago from Vancouver. My parents passed away a couple years ago, and after being there for so long I kinda just needed a change. My Aunt offered for me to come stay with her, and I took her up on the offer.”
“I’m sorry about your parents,” she told him. “Do you like Beacon Hills so far?”
He nodded. “It’s quiet. Not like Vancouver at all.”
She suppressed a cynical laugh. If only he knew what really went on in the town.
“Do you like quiet?”
“I do. And there are tons of places to hike here. Plus the sky is so open and clear. It’s perfect for stargazing.”
“Are you an astronomy buff?”
“My parent were fans of the classics,” he explained. “Greeks and Romans and all that. So I know all the stories behind the constellations.”
“Ah, so this is you trying to impress me?” she asked with raised eyebrows.
He chuckled softly. “I can only hope.”
He turned down a long dirt road, and soon they came to a large clearing surrounded by a grove of trees. He pulled off and into the grass, right in the center of the field. When he came around to open her door, Lillian glanced toward the edge of the trees. There was a fading plaque nailed to one of the trunks, reading ‘Do not enter’ in bold, block letters. She felt a nervous shiver creep down her spine.
“Are we close to the Preserve?” she asked, glancing toward him.
“Yeah,” he told her, looking over at the treeline. “Right on the edge. Is everything okay?”
“It’s just...there have been a lot of animal attacks out there,” she lied.
Lyle grinned and grabbed her hand, giving it a squeeze. “Don’t worry. I’ll protect you from the wolves.”
Lillian swallowed hard. “Wolves?”
He chuckled. “Relax. There haven’t been wolves in California for a really long time.”
“Oh,” she said, trying to keep her expression serene. Of course he had only been joking. “Right.”
He lead her around the car to the trunk, which was already popped open. Then he pulled out a big flannel blanket, and an old-fashioned wicker picnic basket.
“I found it in my Aunt’s attic,” he explained. “Thought it might be cool, you know, in a retro kind of way.”
“I like it,” she agreed, glancing over her shoulder at the trees one last time.
They were dark and disquieting, but she wasn’t getting that familiar sense of dread she did when something bad was about to happen. The voices were quiet tonight, and for that, she was grateful.
As her and Lyle laid out on the blanket and munched on sandwiches, she let herself forget about the wolves and monsters for once. Instead, she would focus on the stars, and when he reached to grab her hand, she didn’t pull it away.
“See that one up there?” he asked, pointing toward the sky.
“You’re gonna have to be a bit more specific…”
“It’s that connection of stars right there.”
He lifted up their entangled hands and reached forward to move her pointer finger toward the shape.
“Oh! I see it!”
He grinned. “So Andromeda up there, she’s kind of an apology.”
“An apology?”
“Yeah. Her mother was Queen Cassiopeia, and she liked to brag about how beautiful she was. She thought she was better than the goddesses, better than the nymphs in the sea. The god who created those nymphs, Poseidon, or Neptune if you’re talking Roman mythology, didn’t like that very much. He sent a sea monster to ravage their kingdom, which probably would have destroyed it. Cassiopeia and her husband thought the only way way to appease the monster was to sacrifice their daughter, Andromeda.”
“Did they?” Lillian asked. “Is that why she’s a constellation?”
“They never got the chance to,” Lyle explained. “The hero Perseus passed by the kingdom and saw her chained to some rocks, ready to be eaten by the monster. He killed the thing, unchained Andromeda, and ended up marrying her. I think it helped that she was hot too. The gods placed her memory in the stars. I guess it was their way of saying ‘Sorry we sent a sea monster to kill you.’.”
“Wow,” Lillian remarked. “She had horrible fucking parents.”
Lyle laughed. “Pretty much everyone in mythology did.”
He let their hands fall back onto the blanket, and they talked for what felt like ages. It was probably no more than a couple of hours, but Lyle was easy to talk to. The time flew by as they shared stories about his parents, about Allison, and growing up in Vancouver and Beacon Hills.
Eventually, the conversation fell into comfortable silence and Lillian turned to look at him. When their eyes met, he took it as an opportunity to lean in.
His lips were warm and soft, and Lillian reached up to wrap her arms around his neck. She pulled him closer, feeling his chest press against hers, and then he was on top of her. It was a natural progression, considering they were already lying on the ground.
He was an extra source of warmth in the already humid night, but he gave off an enticing kind of heat. It had been so long since she had felt so connected with another person, and she wanted to feel that again.
Of course, the minute this crossed her mind, she couldn’t help but think of Theo. There was no one else she was more drawn to, and she had no idea why, but she quickly pushed the thought out of her mind. Whatever feelings she had for him were going to have to disappear, and with Lyle kissing his way down her neck, it wasn’t hard to forget, at least for the moment.
“I like you,” he murmured against her neck. “I think you’re the best thing about Beacon Hills so far.”
“So far? she asked breathlessly. “You think someone else might catch your eye?”
He laughed softly, his lips still up against his throat. “Compared to you? Nothing could.”
He slid his hands under her shirt, trailing his fingers down her hips.
“Wait,” she croaked, sitting up a little. “Are we going to, uh-?”
“Oh,” he said, suddenly pulling back. “No, not if you don’t want to.”
She felt herself blushing. “No, it’s not that I don’t want to have sex with you. It’s just...out here?”
He followed her gaze to where it landed on the edge of the preserve. Then he glanced back down at her, lying below him with her dark, wavy hair splayed out across the ground. He raised his eyebrows.
“You wanna get out of here?”
Lillian smiled. “We can go back to my place.”
-----
“-clouds rolling in tonight with some rainy weather in store for Beacon Hi-”
“-not having the best season, but there’s still time to turn it-”
“-trouble selling that house? Beacon Realty is the-”
Theo reached over to shut off the stereo, figuring silence was better than crackle of useless radio programming. He wasn’t expecting much at two in the morning, and it had been nothing but news reruns and bad music.
On nights when he couldn’t sleep, he would hop in his truck and drive through Beacon Hills. The town was mostly deserted at night, since most of the residents chose not to take their chances with anything that might be lurking in the dark. Theo had no reason to be worried. He was one of the reasons that they were afraid in the first place.
It was thoughts like this that kept him awake at night, making him wonder if he would ever truly have a place with Scott and the others. Now, as rain drummed softly on the roof of his truck, he found himself thinking of Lillian. With her piercing brown eyes and firm convictions, she was the only one who was fighting to make him feel like he did have a place.
He knew he shouldn’t have been thinking of her, but it was impossible not to. He wondered if she was still on her date, and felt a twinge of jealousy that he knew was wrong. She could date whoever she wanted, and he was betting he wasn’t on that list.
Theo’s headlights shined out over the road, casting a glow onto the wet asphalt and the grass on either side. He drove for a few minutes, and was just beginning to think that silence wasn’t so good after all, when he caught sight of a shape up ahead, moving slowly along the treeline.
His fingers hovered over the radio button, and he slowed down as he realized the shape was a person. Judging by the long hair, it was a girl, wearing nothing but an oversized t-shirt. Theo rolled down the window, and with a sickening lurch of his stomach, he realized it was Lillian.
The scent of coffee beans mixed with the rain wafted toward him, and he quickly jerked his truck over to the side of the road. He jumped out as soon as her shadow disappeared past the treeline, heading deeper into the woods.
Without bothering to shut the door, he raced after her, searching for her shape in the dark.
“Lillian!”
He called out her name, but he couldn’t see her anymore. He squeezed his eyes shut, letting them glow yellow in the darkness as he searched for the warmth she was giving off. That was when he saw her, a glowing red shape trudging through the brush.
“Lillian!”
When he finally caught up to her, she was standing still with her back to him. Her dark hair was down and loose, plastered flat against her t-shirt with the rain. Her bare legs were soaked and she wasn’t wearing shoes. Theo could just barely see her bright blue toenails, covered mostly by a thin layer of mud and blood on her feet. He could only guess how far she had walked like that.
“Lillian,” he said softly, gently placing a hand on her shoulder.
She turned slowly, and when Theo looked into her eyes, they were glossy and blank.
“Lillian?”
She looked up at him suddenly, and her whole face changed. He could see the fear in her eyes, and when she spoke, it sent a violent shiver down his spine. “This is where I’m going to die.”
“What?” he asked, just before her lips parted, and she let out a blood-curdling scream.
Theo quickly clapped his hands over his ears, and then it was over. He straightened up, reaching for her, just as she pitched forward.
With a grunt, he caught her before she could fall into the mud, just barely catching her around the waist. He shook her gently, saying her name over and over, but there was no sign to indicate that she was waking up.
He brushed her soaked hair out of her face with damp hands, and scooped her into his arms. He was comforted by the slow rise and fall of her chest, but deep in his stomach, there was nagging sense of dread.
As he carried her back to the truck, he thought about what she had said. He didn’t know much about banshees, but he did know they were rarely wrong. Was she predicting her own death?
He set her down in the passenger seat, then reached into the back for a ratty blanket he had kept from when he was sleeping there. It wasn’t much, but he wrapped it around her as she shivered, and then clicked her seatbelt into place.
When he finally got behind the wheel, he took out his phone and called the only person who might be able to tell him what to do.
“Hello?” Scott’s voice was groggy as he picked up the phone.
Theo knew he had woken him up. He felt a twinge of sympathy for Scott, who was still struggling with being a student and an alpha at the same time. He was two hours away at U.C. Davis, and if anything happened to the rest of the pack, he was too far to help.
“Hey, Scott, it’s me.”
“Theo? What’s wrong?”
“It’s Lillian. I saw her walking on the road in the rain. She was in some kind of trance and she went into the woods-”
“Did you get to her?” Scott demanded.
“Yeah. She passed out, and she’s cold, but I think she’ll be okay.”
Theo could hear the sigh of relief. “Okay, good. Her and Lydia will do that sometimes when they’re going to find bodies. Did you call the Sheriff?”
“The Sheriff?”
“About the body. She found one, right?”
“No,” Theo told him. “There was no body. That’s what I was calling about.”
“Maybe you stopped her before she got to it?”
“She stopped on her own, but it was what she said when she turned around. She said ‘This is where I’m going to die.’.”
Theo was met with silence on the other end of the line. Then, very softly, he heard “Oh, shit.”.
“Scott? What should I do?”
“I don’t know,” he admitted. “When she wakes up she might be able to tell you what she meant, or if she heard something, but if she doesn’t remember, we can’t know for sure. Have you tried calling Lydia?”
“No, but I can, if you think she can help.”
Scott let out a slow sigh. “Lillian’s okay?”
Theo glanced over at her. She was still asleep, with her cheek pressed up against the window. She was still shivering slightly, and Theo reached forward to turn the heat all the way up.
“I think so, yeah. I’m going to stay with her until she wakes up and we can figure out what happened.”
“Okay. Then there’s no need to wake Lydia up right now. Call me if anything changes. And Theo?”
“Yeah?”
“Thank you for taking care of Lillian.”
Scott ended the call, and Theo pulled out onto the road. He wasn’t sure where Lillian lived, aside from the fact that it was an apartment on the other side of town. His only choice was to take her back to his place.
It wasn’t far, and after about ten minutes he was pulling into the parking lot. He hopped out of the truck and tucked the blanket tighter around Lillian. Her head fell against his shoulder as he picked her up and carried her inside.
On the elevator ride up, she shifted in his arms. He looked down to see her brown eyes fluttering open. She was still trembling from the cold. “Theo?”
“Hey,” he said softly.
“What’s going on?” she whispered hoarsely. “Why am I wet?”
“Don’t worry, you’re okay. You had another...episode.”
“A body?”
“Not this time,” he told her. “Do you remember what you said?”
She shook her head, causing her damp hair to brush against his soaked jacket. “I don’t remember anything. I’m so cold.”
“I know. Just hold on, okay?”
He headed down the hall and reached forward to unlock the door to his apartment, carrying her across the threshold and into the darkness. He shouldered his bedroom door open, and set her down on the bed.
“Theo, I’m wet,” she mumbled groggily.
“It’s okay. I can dry the sheets.”
“No, my clothes,” she said, reaching up to peel part of her shirt away from her body. “I’ll never get warm. Can you…?”
Theo felt a lump stick in his throat. “Take them off? I don’t know if that’s-”
“Theo, I’m freezing.”
“Okay, just wait. I’m going to get you something else to wear.”
If she heard him she didn’t acknowledge it. She just let her trembling fingers rest back down on the mattress. Theo blindly grabbed for some clothes in his drawers, managing to find an oversized t-shirt and a pair of cotton boxers for her.
When he came back, her eyes were closed, but when he put a hand on her shoulder, she looked up at him.
“Can you sit up a little?”
She shook her head weakly, and he sighed. He closed his eyes, feeling along the edges of the t-shirt. He pulled it up and over her head without looking, and tossed it across the room.
“Lift your arms up,” he said softly, as he grabbed his shirt and pulled it over her head blindly.
When he opened his eyes, she was looking at him with a confused expression. “You did that with your eyes closed.”
“Well, I wasn’t going to stare at you like an asshole,” he muttered, grabbing the boxers from the side of the bed. “Come on, help me out here.”
He pulled the covers out from under her when he was finished, tucking them around her. She curled up on her side, leaving her hair splayed out across the pillow behind her head.
“Theo?” she whispered. “Thank you.”
He felt her cold fingers reach out to grip his for a brief moment. Then she let go, and he listened as she slowly stopped shivering, and her breath evened out. He squeezed her limp hand once more, and went in search of his first aid kit.
-----
Lillian woke up to early morning light shining through the window. With a twinge of annoyance, she rolled over and wondered why she hadn’t closed the curtains last night. When she opened her eyes, she realized there were no curtains on the window. This wasn’t her room.
She sat up with a jolt, glancing around her. There was a small dresser up against one wall, piled with books. To her right was a simple wooden nightstand, and next to it, a basket of laundry that wasn’t folded.
She glanced down and saw that she wearing a long-sleeved gray t-shirt, with the sleeves trailing past her fingertips. She was also wearing someone’s boxers, and there were white bandages covering her bare feet.
Before she could panic too much, a soft snore came from the other side of the bed. She
leaned over the edge cautiously, and saw Theo asleep on the floor with his face pressed into the carpet.
Lillian pressed a hand over her mouth to stifle a laugh, and her fear was gone. She reached down and brushed his shoulder with her fingertips, causing his eyes to flutter open.
When he glanced up at her, he scrambled up off the ground, startled.
“Uh, sorry,” she apologized.
“No, uh, it’s fine. How do you feel? You’re not still cold are you?”
She glanced down at the comforter covering her legs, along with two other heavy
blankets. “No, but uh, why am I in your bed?”
“You don’t remember anything?” he asked.
She blinked, thinking for a moment, and then gasped. “Oh my god. The woods. I was in the woods.”
He nodded. “I found you walking on the side of the road. When I got to you, you passed out.”
She pursed her lips. “I didn’t find a body, did I?”
He shook his head slowly. “I don’t think that was what you were looking for.”
His voice was uneasy, and he looked slightly uncomfortable, as if he wanted to continue but wasn’t sure how.
“What are you not telling me?” she asked him, raising her eyebrows. “And don’t lie to me to make me feel better.”
Theo scratched the back of his neck. “I’m not sure what you wanted to find. But when I got to you, you told me ‘This is the place I’m going to die.’.”
She took a deep breath. “Of course. The nemeton.”
Theo froze, feeling that familiar chill from last night creep down his spine. A memory flashed through his head of the night when he dragged Lydia out to the tree stump, searching for the bodies of the chimeras to make into his own personal army. “The tree?”
“You didn’t see it?” she asked him. “Last night? It wasn’t there?”
“I...the rain was pretty heavy. I didn’t really notice anything other than you, to be honest.”
She nodded. “I’m pretty sure it was there, but it moves. Chances are it’s already gone.”
“And this thing about you dying?”
“I don’t know,” she admitted. “It was a feeling. And if I said that, it was a pretty strong feeling.”
Theo reached forward to grab her hand, buried in the sleeve of his shirt. “You’re not going to die.”
“You don’t know that.”
“I do. I’m not letting it happen.”
“Theo-”
“I owe you remember?” he asked her. “Besides, I kind of have to protect you. Who else would make my coffee in the morning?”
Lillian felt herself breaking into a grin, but then she gasped. “What time is it?”
“Like six-thirty. Do you have somewhere to be?” he asked skeptically.
“No, it’s just, my date last night...he slept over.”
Theo couldn’t help it. His eyebrows went up. “Oh. So Blondie’s alone in your apartment right now.”
She nodded, feeling a blush creep over her cheeks. “And I walked out like a zombie to go find a giant tree. God, I knew dating was a stupid idea. It’s just too weird.”
“I’ll take you home,” Theo offered.
“Thanks,” she breathed, shoving his covers off. “I might need a getaway driver, cause I don’t know how this guy is going to react to me showing back up in the morning wearing someone else’s clothes.”
“Oh, I threw your shirt in the dryer,” he told her.
“What about my pants?” she asked.
Lillian watched as Theo’s expression shifted. He almost seemed embarrassed.
“Uh, you weren’t wearing any.”
“Oh my god,” she whispered.
Great, she thought. Theo Raeken saw me without pants on.
“If it makes you feel better,” he said. “I wasn’t really paying attention. I was more concerned about the fact that you were running around barefoot in the rain at two am.”
“And I’m guessing you put these clothes on me too?”
Now it was Theo’s turn to flush. “You asked. And you were shivering. And I had my eyes closed the whole time, I swear.”
Lillian felt a twinge of recognition.
You did that with your eyes closed.
Well, I wasn’t going to stare at you like an asshole.
“I remember. And I’m pretty sure you kept me from getting hypothermia, so thank you.”
She smiled at him, and watched his shoulders sag in relief. There was something unexpectedly adorable about how flustered he was.
“Do you think I could borrow some sweatpants or something?” she asked. “I promise I’ll get them back to you. Not that that’s going to help the situation, but-”
“I think I have an idea.”
She raised her eyebrows. “An idea?”
“I think we can make this normal. Is Georgie working this morning?”
Lillian nodded, eyeing him skeptically. “Yeah.”
“Then at least the coffee will be good.”
-----
In the end, Theo’s idea had been genius. Together, the two of them drove to Beacon Brew to grab coffee for her and Lyle, and when they walked in, Georgie glanced up from behind the counter and grinned.
“Hey, Chica, how was your...date?”
She trailed off during the last part, having caught sight of Theo. She glanced toward Lillian, eyeing the oversized hoodie and sweatpants she was wearing.
“Don’t ask,” Lillian begged. “I need two small mocha lattes right now.”
“I’m by myself until Reece gets here,” Georgie groaned. “And you’re not wearing shoes!”
“Georgie, there’s no one here,” Lillian pointed out, gesturing to the empty cafe. “I swear to god, I’ll tell you everything when I get the chance.”
“Fine,” she said, turning toward the latte machine. “I’m guessing the date wasn’t that good considering you found a replacement?”
She gestured vaguely in Theo’s direction, and Lillian glared at her. “It’s not like that. He’s helping me out.”
“Mmhm,” Georgie murmured, eyeing her carefully. “It’s seven sixty two.”
“Oh shit,” Lillian swore. “I don’t have my purse.”
“Sounds like a wild night,” Georgie remarked, winking at her.
“I’ve got it,” Theo announced, stepping forward.
“You know what?” Georgie told him. “It’s on the house.”
“Georgie-”
“Don’t worry about it,” she told her, handing her the two steaming cups. “You can pay me in secrets later.”
“Come on,” Theo told Lillian, trying to hide his grin. “Let’s go before Blondie wakes up.”
He led her out to the truck, and together they drove to her place.
“You are a lifesaver,” she breathed.
Theo raised his eyebrows. “Never heard that one before.”
Her lips tilted up. “I’m serious. I guess it won’t matter anyway. I don’t exactly want to see him again.”
“Because he doesn’t know about the supernatural?”
“Well that,” she agreed. “And...I don’t know. He was nice, but…”
“The sex wasn’t that good?”
Her mouth fell open, but when she looked at him, she felt her lips curling up again. “Maybe. How did you know?”
Theo shrugged. “I mean you did walk into the woods after, so that should tell you something.”
Lillian burst out laughing. “Okay. I’ll give you that one. Turn up here.”
Theo pulled into the parking lot of the complex, which was a huge white building dotted with pastel green railings. It was only about three stories high.
“See the one with the flowers hanging out?” Lillian asked, gesturing to a railing on the second floor. “That one’s mine.”
“They look dead.”
“That’s how you know it’s mine. Turns out I can’t keep flowers alive, even in the spring. I guess it’s because I’m a harbinger of death and all that.”
Theo looked over at her and smiled. Her hair was loose around her face, and it spilled down her back in messy waves. She was still wearing her shirt from last night, but Theo had lent her one of his smaller hoodies. It trailed down over the sweatpants he had let her borrow, and he couldn’t help but think she looked good in his clothes.
When she looked back toward him, he quickly looked down, not wanting her to catch him staring. He snatched the coffee cups up from the console and handed them to her. “Let’s hope you left your door unlocked.”
“Thank you,” she breathed. “Seriously, I owe you.”
“Don’t worry about it.”
She opened the door and hopped out, tucking one of the coffees against her side. “I’ll see you tomorrow morning then? If it’s not your day off?”
“I’ll be at the station. Stilinski needs a lot of work done.”
She grinned. “I’ll see you bright and early then.”
She turned her back to him and headed up to the complex, opening the door to the lobby. She shot one last smile at him and then slipped inside.
She smiled all the way up to her apartment, and then felt guilty about it. There she was, waking up the morning after a very nice date, still thinking of him. The fact that he had found her in the woods had nothing to do with it. He would have been on her mind either way.
When she got to the door of her apartment, she reached out for the doorknob, silently hoping that she hadn’t had the sense to lock the door behind her last night. When it gave way, she let out a breath of relief and quietly pushed it open.
She padded through the hall and back to her bedroom, but when she pushed the door open, she saw the bed was empty. Her eyes went wide, and she briefly wondered if Lyle had realized she was gone and left.
Then the toilet flushed behind her, and she realized he was just in the connected bathroom. Lillian breathed a sigh of relief as the sink started running, and then plastered a smile on her face as he opened the door.
“Ah,” he remarked, eyeing the coffee. “So that’s where you went. I thought you might have run off in the middle of the night.”
He laughed softly, and Lillian fought to match it, but she was pretty sure she just sounded nervous. He walked over and took the coffee from her hands, leaning down to press a kiss to her lips.
She froze, startled, and he pulled away with a sheepish grin. “Sorry. Was that weird?”
“Oh no, sorry it’s just really early,” she covered smoothly, silently cursing herself for being so awkward.
She could hear Malia’s voice in the back of head. Jesus Christ, just tell him to get lost.
“Thanks for the coffee,” he told her. “I’m guessing that’s a sign you want to do this again?”
Lillian took a deep breath. “Actually, I don’t think it’s going to work. Not because of you, it’s just... there’s this guy, and it’s complicated.”
Lyle looked thoughtful. “Let me guess. You’ve got history?”
“Something like that,” she told him. “It just wouldn’t be fair to you if I’m still hung up on him.”
He nodded. “Lillian, I totally understand.”
He leaned forward, placing a hand on her face and leaning down to kiss her softly on the cheek. “I don’t blame you at all. And, hey, if things with that guy don’t work out, you’ve got my number.”
She smiled. “Thanks, Lyle.”
“I’ll see you around,” he told her, before scooping his jacket up off the floor and heading for her front door.
When it shut with a soft thump behind him, Lillian sank down onto her bed and ran her hands over her tired eyes. She knew she should try to sleep , especially after last night, but she was too wired.
She glanced around, finding her phone still on the nightstand, exactly where she had left it the night before. She picked it up and dialed an all too familiar number, one she had known since 7th grade.
“Hey, do you wanna get coffee? I had the craziest night.”
-----
“Lillian, this one’s for you!”
“Thanks,” she told the barista, snagging her coffee.
It was Reece who was working drinks today, with Georgie on the register. Reece was still fairly new to the shop, and she wasn’t terrible enough to get fired, but Georgie couldn’t stand her. Slow learners were not her thing, and she would tell Lillian as much after she calmly explained a task over and over.
“You have the patience of a saint,” she would remark. “I would never wanna work alone with her.”
That was what she was doing today, and she shot Lillian a look of desperation from behind the counter as she grabbed her drink, mouthing “Save me.”.
Lillian shrugged and headed toward the table Lydia was sitting at, sliding into the seat across from her. Her strawberry blonde hair was done up in a braided twist, making Lillian envy her dedication to her appearance. She had barely brushed her own hair before leaving her apartment.
“So about your late night trip in the woods...” Lydia began.
Lillian groaned. “Don’t ask.”
“We need to talk about it. Especially because you got to spend the night in Theo’s bed after,” Lydia mused, causing Lillian to choke and spit out her coffee.
Georgie looked up from the register in concern. Lillian still owed her an explanation for earlier.
“Oh my god,” Lillian hissed, glaring at Lydia. She jumped up to grab napkins, and when she came back, Lydia was sitting there with her lips pursed. “Why would you say that?”
“What? Are we just gonna not talk about it?” Lydia demanded as she helped her mop up the spilled coffee from the table. “I’m guessing you don’t wanna talk about how he saved your life either.”
“That’s exactly what we should do,” she grumbled.
“Why?” Lydia asked softly. “Lil, he saved you. For no reason other than to do it. Maybe he’s changing.”
“He tried to kill Scott, Lydia,” you reminded her. “He almost got you killed!”
“And I’m not saying we should overlook that,” she replied. “But people change. And Theo? He grew up in an environment where violence was the only thing he knew. He was literally created for that specific purpose. Whatever happened to him when Kira sent him down into that pit, maybe it changed him.”
“He did have a reason to save my life,” you said quietly.
She raised her dark eyebrows, her green eyes boring into yours. “Do tell.”
“It was the night we stopped Douglas and the Ghost Riders,” she began. “We were in the hospital basement, and Theo was there too. There were like four of them. He told me to run, but I knew Liam would have more of a chance if it was Theo fighting with him. So I stepped in front of him, and the next thing I knew, I was in the train station.”
Lydia’s red lips were parted in shock. “You sacrificed yourself for Theo Raeken?”
“For Liam,” you protested. “So he would have a better chance.”
“Uh huh. So you didn’t just save his life out of, say, sheer kindness?”
Lillian thought about it. She had known she and Liam wouldn’t stand a chance without Theo. The Ghost Riders had shown that they were afraid of banshees, but when she actively challenged them, she knew they wouldn’t let her stand in their way.
She didn’t know how to fight. She only knew basic self-defense tactics from Allison, ones that certainly wouldn’t protect her from a supernatural whip. That was why, at least partly, she had thrown herself in front of Theo. He was more of an asset. He had a better chance of saving everyone than she did. She just wasn’t sure if that was the only reason.
“Maybe it was a little bit of both,” she said quietly.
She took a sip of her coffee and looked down at the dark hardwood of the table.
“Lillian,” Lydia began, causing her friend to glance up. “There’s nothing wrong with that.”
“Even after everything he did?”
“He’s still human. As least a part of him is.”
“I know that,” she whispered. “And as much as it should feel wrong to be around him, it doesn’t.”
“I’m not judging you,” Lydia promised. “In fact, I wholeheartedly support you. Have you two gone out yet?”
“What? No,” she said quickly. “We’re just friends.”
She stared at Lillian skeptically. “Didn’t you say he comes to see you every morning?”
“Only, like, every other morning.”
Lillian groaned at the look on Lydia’s face. “Oh my god. You’re hopeless. And...I had a date last night anyway.”
One of her eyebrows shot up. “Before or after the half-naked jaunt in the woods?”
“Before, obviously,” Lillian hissed. “That’s the whole reason I was...”
She trailed off as she looked at Lydia’s shocked face, mouth hanging open. “What?”
“You had a guy sleepover for the first time in two years and you didn’t tell me about it?!”
People were beginning to stare, and Lillian gestured for her to quiet down. The last thing she needed was the entire coffee shop to know who she was sleeping with.
“It didn’t exactly end well, considering I ended up in someone else’s bed,” she hissed.
“But you did-” Lydia began.
“Yes, we did,” Lillian cut her off. “But...to be honest it wasn’t that eventful.”
“The sex?”
Lillian flushed. “Yes. Now can we please stop talking about it?”
Lydia pursed her lips. “Maybe it was like that because he’s not the one you really want.”
“Lydia,” she hissed through gritted teeth.
“Fine!”
“I told him it wasn’t going to work out anyway,” Lillian insisted. “How do you think he’d react to me running off to find dead bodies in the woods all the time?”
“You could have just told him you sleepwalk,” she suggested.
“All the way into the woods?” Lillian sighed. “It doesn’t matter now. And we’ve got bigger problems than who I’m going to date.”
Lydia tilted her head. “So you’re going to die. How did you come to that conclusion?”
“It was a feeling,” Lillian stated. “A strong one.”
“Then how come I didn’t feel it?” she asked. “How could I not know if something was going to happen to you?”
Lillian shook her head. “You know this isn’t an exact science.”
“Exactly. Do you remember when we were reading those books about the Dread Doctors, trying to see if we could remember what happened to us?”
“You saw a memory that wasn’t yours.”
“It was Hayden’s,” she clarified. “From when they turned her into a Chimera. But it was like I was on that operating table too. It felt like it was me.”
“So you’re saying that I was feeling someone else’s death?”
“That’s exactly what I’m saying. Besides, no one is going to let anything happen to you. You’ve got me and Malia to protect you...and Theo, apparently.”
“Malia hates Theo,” Lillian pointed out.
Lydia shrugged. “I’m not saying we have to do it together.”
She reached out to place her hand on top of Lillian’s. “It’s been a really long time since I’ve seen you smile the way you do when Theo’s around. I don’t care what Stiles says. He might be good for you.”
“So he talked to you too?”
“Yes,” she said with a roll of her eyes. “After I refused to spy on him.”
“He asked me to do the same thing.”
“I’m not surprised. Listen, I know you had a stressful night, so I was thinking we could go get our nails done? My treat.”
Lillian sighed. “I don’t know. I think I could use a nap.”
“Please, Lil,” Lydia begged.
She sighed. She had always had trouble saying no to Lydia, especially when treating herself was involved.
“Fine,” she said eventually. “But we’re not talking anymore about Theo!”
“No Theo,” Lydia agreed firmly.
She swiftly rose out of her seat to drag Lillian up by the wrist and out the door, coffee and all.

Embracing Greece- Week 3
This week’s theme: Mythology!
Last week we embraced Greece via Naming! Now this week I have decided to show you a first dose of Greek Mythology (Basics).
You may perhaps know the Dodekatheum (Δωδεκάθεο- Dodekatheo), the whole Greek Pantheon and that we, Greeks, have a rich Mythology thanks to our ancestors. Perhaps the names “Zeus” (Δίας- Dias) , “Persephone” (Περσεφόνη-Persephoni) , “Hera” (Ήρα- Ira) sound familiar…
But what are all these? And how are they connected?
Let’s find out!
So, this whole “Mythology” (Μυθολογία- Mithologia) started when the old Greeks wondered “Why does this happen? Why is nature like this? Who is in charge?”. So they tried to explain all nature phenomena by putting a deity in charge of them. Specifically, twelve main “boss” gods and goddesses.
~Zeus (Δίας), the God of Thunder and all Weather Phenomena as well as Hospitality. Son of Cronus. ~Hera (Ήρα), the Goddess of Marriage and Zeus’s wife. Daughter of Cronus. ~Athena (Αθηνά), the Goddess of Wisdom and Knowledge also daughter of Zeus (yes, entirely Zeus. No woman involved. A big story) ~Poseidon (Ποσειδώνας), the God of Sea and Ships. Son of Cronus. ~Demeter (Δήμητρα), the Goddess of Agriculture. Daughter of Cronus. ~Dionysus (Διόνυσος), the God of Wine and Entertainment. Son of Zeus and Semele (heroic mortal) ~Ares (Άρης), the God of War. Son of Zeus and Hera. In love with Aphrodite. Also a big story. ~Apollo (Απόλλωνας), the God of Music, Prophecy, Poetry, Healing, Truth, Light, Archery and the list goes on and on forever. He is the son of Zeus and Leto and also brother of Artemis. ~Artemis (Άρτεμης), the Goddess of Hunting, Wilderness, Animals, Virginity, Pureness and protector of young girls. ~Hermes (Ερμής), the God of Trade, Thievery, Travelling and Athletes. The Messenger of the Gods. ~Hestia (Εστία), the Goddess of Home, Family, Hearth. Daughter of Cronus. ~Aphrodite (Αφροδίτη), the Goddess of Love, Beauty and Sexuality. Her birth is still not clearly discovered. ~Hephaestus (Ήφαιστος), the God of Fire and Craftsmanship. Child of Zeus and Hera, making the other Gods’ weapons.
Okay but…how did they exist? Like they always existed?
Nope. No, my pal, they didn’t.
First existed Chaos (Χάος). Then out of a sudden came Gaia (Γαία), the personification of Mother Earth. She created Uranus (Ουρανός) by herself who is the personification of Sky with whom she bore the Titans, the Giants, the hills and Pontus (a sea). Yes Mother (?) x Son (kind of).
Okay here’s what happened with the Titans. Oops, we will skip this whole gruesome story and proceed to where Cronus and Rhea (Sibling Titans) bear six familiar children known as the big six; Zeus, Hades*, Poseidon (Big Three Alpha Males) and Hestia, Hera, Demeter (Big Female Deities of the Dodekatheum ).
*Side Note; Hades (Άδης) isn’t part of the Dodekatheum even if he is in the Big Three Cronus’ sons. You wonder why? Simply, because he is the God of the Dead and the whole Underground is his kingdom so he doesn’t need to be together with the rest of the Gods in Mount Olympus (their hideout). He is kinda like the emo cousin at the corner of the event.
So basically in the past Cronus overthrown his father Uranus. So Zeus decided that it would be pioneering to overhtrown his parent too. So he overthrown Cronus.
This is a long story called; Titanomachy (War of the Titans). Basically something like Attack on Titan but with Greek Gods.
The most important divine struggle in Greek mythology was the Gigantomachy, the battle fought between the Giants and the Olympian gods for supremacy of the cosmos.
Guess who won?
The Squad™
So, yeah that’s basically i- oh no wait there is more. Woops ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
So how do all these happen with Odysseus? Helen of Sparta? Like ya know the fun stuff!
Slowwwww down there kid. Sheesh.
I shall explain you basically how every single Myth works. Including Heracles’s and Helena of Sparta’s:
(open to see better)
Yes. That’s basically the thing.
B-but the fights and swords? Calypso? What do I read in a Percy Jackson book?
Basically, my dear friend, you read a wonderful piece of fanfiction. It is proven historically that Homer’s Iliad and later Odyssey were the first fanfictions in history *praise*.All the action is spread across many plays, poems and tablets that haven’t been found or finished. Currently everyone hopes to find a miracle that will add a clue about the whole religion and let us know more about our ancestors and their beliefs.
There are though some myths that are actually note-worthy! Check them below;
a) Prometheus and Fire
Prometheus (Προμηθέας) was one of the Titans. Till some point fire was only available in Mount Olympus to protect the Gods. He was the one who saved mankind and brought fire to the people. This of course was against Zeus’s order. Theories vary about his punishment.
b) Persephone and the Lily
Persephone (Περσεφόνη) was Demeter’s, Goddess of Harvesting/Agriculture, daughter due to her sexual bonding with Zeus. Persephone was a young lad when Hades tricked her and abducted her. To be precise, she saw a beautiful flower called Κρίνος (Lily). She approached it and Hades took her away from her mother and forced her to become his wife and Queen of the Underworld.
c) Moirai
The Moirai (Αί Μοῖραι in Ancient Greek) are the main deities concerning life and death of a human. In English they are known as “Fates”. They are pictured as three old ladies; Clotho (Κλωθώ), who was the spinner, Lachessis (Λάχεσις), the allotter, and Atropos (Άτροπος), the unturnable. The gods and men had to submit to them, although Zeus's relationship with them is a matter of debate: some sources say he is the only one who can command them.
d) Heracles and the 12 Tasks
Heracles was a divine hero in Greek Mythology. He is said to be a demigod, a child of Zeus, himself, (what a surprise really) and son of Alcmene (pretty mortal). Hera despised the poor baby because of him being a child of Zeus’s infidelity. Zeus made love to her after disguising himself as her husband, Amphitryon, home early from war (Amphitryon did return later the same night, and Alcmene became pregnant with his son at the same time, a case of heteropaternal superfecundation, where a woman carries twins sired by different fathers). How cool is that? Thus he was always cursed. However as a symbold of masculinity and manliness he was always successful with his 12 Labours to do unbelievably difficult tasks.
Perhaps you should read the Wikipedia Page for that or if you want I can have a post explaining The Myth of Heracles. It’s up to you.
e) Theseus and the Minotaur
Like many other heroes of myth and legend, Theseus was born and raised in unusual and dramatic circumstances. His mother was Aethra, daughter of King Pittheus of Troezen. Son of King Aegeus of Athens, who had stopped at Troezen after consulting the oracle at Delphi. The oracle had warned Aegeus not to get drunk or father a child on his way home to Athens—or one day he would die of sorrow. Upon arriving in Athens, Theseus found King Aegeus married to an enchantress named Medea. Medea tried to poison Theseus. But when Aegeus saw the young man's sword and sandals, he realized that Theseus was his son and saved him from the poison. Anyway. There was this law in Athens that every year they should send as a wage 7 girls and 7 boys to get eaten by the Minotaur, a creature with the head of a bull and the body of a man, which existed in Dedalus’s Maze in Crete, That ship had black masts in grief. One time Theseus went there and with the help of Minos’s daughter (King of Crete at the time. The evil one here), Ariadne, he managed to kill the Minotaur and get out of the Maze. He then started his way back. Though he had forgotten to change the mast from black to white thus when Aegeus saw the black masts he feel into the sea in despair and grief for his “lost” son. That’s why the sea is called by his name.
f) Jason and the Argonaut Campaign
In Greek mythology, Jason (Ιάσων) was the hero who led the Argonaut Campaign. Little Jason was raised in Pelion by Centaur Chiron, who taught him Medicine. At that time, Pelias (brother and king of Iolkos) ordered Jason to perform this mission’ bring the Golden Fleece. Yet another tradition, however, states that Jason took the decision to go and carry the fleece himself: With the ship “Argo” they sailed all the way to Pontus. There Jason was supposed to fight a mighty monster to get it, however Medea (an enchantress) fell in love with him and thus gave him a liquid to prevent the flames of the dragon to hit him. Though, he promised he would take her to Greece. He took the fleece and Medea and returned home. However...yeap Medea didn’t have a nice ending ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (shame on you Jason)
g) Pandora’s Box
Hephaestus was once told by Zeus to make a beautiful woman named Pandora (Πανδώρα= all gifts). Zeus sent Pandora down to earth and gave her as a present to Prometheus' brother, Epimetheus. Zeus told Epimetheus that he should marry Pandora. Also, Zeus sent Pandora with a little box, with a big lock on it. He ordered not to ever open the box. But Pandora was very curious about what was in the box. She begged Epimetheus to let her open it, but he always said no. Finally one day he fell asleep, and she stole the key and opened it. Basically all bad things happened after that. Disease, fear, despair, hurricanes etc.But the very last thing to fly out of the box, as Pandora sat there crying, was not as ugly as the others. In fact it was beautiful. It was Hope.
That’s all for this week folks! What would you like me to explain next?

I suffer for my art
For an article appearing on thefandomentals.com, I actually sat down (with a lot of booze) and subjected myself to watching the Lightning Thief movie again. Here are unfiltered live notes, so everyone can suffer with me.
(Why yes I do channel cinema sins. just a little bit)
· The first 10 seconds do away with the one core rule of the franchise; as Poseidon for some reason steps out of a river, a fisherman SEES him. The books avoid this by having a thing called “mist” exist that keeps mortals from seeing ancient greek mythology stuff going on. Unless, of course, that particular fisherman was blessed with clear sight and is destined to be the next oracle. Suck it, Rachel.
· Oh god, Sean Bean is in this movie, and he doesn’t even die. That alone says everything about the quality you need to know.
· Why the fuck are they meeting in mortal forms on the empire state building? Yes, that’s where Olympus is, but Olympus is metaphysically ABOVE the fucking building, not the deck they’re on, which would be crowded at any and all times of day.
· Okay. So they meet here to discuss exposition. Zeus knows Poseidon has a son. Zeus is also to blame for Poseidon never contacting said son. I mean, technically it’s a pact the two of you made with your other brother after he spawned Hitler and a world war happened, but, uh, is that even canon to this movie?
· Okay, Sean Bean establishes the summer solstice as a deadline. Keep that in mind. SUMMER SOLSTICE.
· Why do we put the plot into the first three seconds of the film? Was Columbus afraid we’d fall asleep after this and wouldn’t be able to catch up?
· Okay real talk Logan LErman would have been the perfect Percy about 5 years before this movie was made. He grew up a little too baby faced to still be a good fit for battle hardened don’t fuck with me Percy of the follow up series, but still, such a missed opportunity.
· Okay so Percy regularly hangs out at the bottom of the swimming pool for 7 minutes to think. That’s, ah. Weird. You know. If you do that regularly, people might notice. And Grover, whose job is to keep him safe, and also to technically keep him from realizing he’s not quite human, is encouraging this. Because. Sure. Why not.
· OKAY. SO. They kept the NAME of the school, but not the boarding school aspect. They turned Mrs. Dodds into an English teacher so she could make a joke about the word fury in Othello. And they choose to establish the dyslexia and ADHD thing during dialogue while not actually showing any ADHD symptoms. I can’t quite talk about how well they do with the dyslexia, but from what we see, it’s the letters just fogging over and randomly turning into Greek letters which is not how it is described in the books at all. Seems more like Percy needs glasses here.
· Oh my fucking god. Gabe comes home, sits down in the uncomfortable kitchen chair, demands beer and smacks Sally on the ass, and both Percy and Sally treat him like a rude house guest maybe, not like the abusive asshole he’s actually supposed to be. Percy even stands up to him and thinks it’s necessary to explain that this is his mother and he will not have her sexualized in this kitchen. Gah.
· How can this house both be Gabe’s while at the same time, he never held down a job?
· Also Percy comes into the pretty house at the ground floor and calls for his mother who is like on the third floor. Is that entire house theirs? If so, damn, Gabe is a rich unemployed white trash person.
· Oh and now Poseidon just randomly wanders around New York to stalk his son amazing
· Percy wears headphones during the plot related exposition at the MOA
· At least he’s fidgeting now. That’s progress.
· OKAY. So Ms. Dodds pulls Percy aside in the middle of the lesson, and Grover and Mr. Brunner can totally leave too to help him. They also cut the action sequence but sure, whatever.
· Percy gets weirdly ableist when Grover says he’s his protector. Like, in the books Percy’s objection to that was that Grover was constantly being bullied and Percy had to stand up for him.
· In fact, Percy and Grover could possibly pass for cool kids here; neither of them look like losers. Percy is pretty and has amazing abs. That’s… Completely contrary to how book!Percy feels. Like, he gets better once he reaches the age where boys stop looking like cave trolls, but, uh, that takes a while.
· Then they go home to Sally, Grover downs Gabe, and they run off, and Gabe’s poker buddies just let them be. What.
· They start conversation about the father while the sun is setting in New York City, and only commence it in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere
· The minotaur who just toppled their car is suddenly all the way up the hill. Wow.
· Sexist edit: In the books, Percy’s mom explains to him how to fight the minotaur. Here, he just kinda figures it out himself.
· Okay. Two dumb things: With the mom evaporated just before the camp gates, why do they fight the minotaur at all? In the books, Percy is half a mile away from the camp when the showdown happens and he fights to save himself and his mom. Here, he just charges out there to avenge his mom even though the magical gate is right there.
· Second: instead of going for his sword, the actual weapon, Percy goes for the horn stuck in the tree, almost getting skewered himself. Now, the narrative for some reason rewards him for this, but this is just dumb. And there was also no indication that the horn was going to work better than the sword, which is also right there and not stuck in a tree.
· The fury roughed him up more than the minotaur did, and yet this is the part where he falls unconscious
· Grover is BUFF
· He’s supposed to be a scrawny loser kid with anxiety issues
· Also nursing Percy is Annabeth’s part. This is important. Ish.
· Yeah, okay, Grover giving Percy the tour is… Unfortunate. In the books, there were actual adults giving him these talks, and also Annabeth, and you get the feeling Satyrs are veeeeery low on the pecking order. Also, Mr Brunner was there to actually take him seriously
· Also, the camp just looks wrong. Way wrong.
· UGH
· UUUUUGH
· OKAY
· We’re introduced to BRUNETTE Annabeth while a bunch of people do badly choreographed battle around her. This is wrong. This is so wrong.
· Annabeth is good in a fight, yeah. But her main asset is her brain. And the first glimpses we get of her is taking care of Percy, both nursing him and giving him the tour, because she piecing together how he fits into a prophecy that concerns her and is her ticket out of there.
· Also they kind of combine her role in this movie with that of Clarisse, who is a daughter of Ares and a bully like the ones Percy never had to face here. I have no idea why they did that, and it’s even more ridiculous since Clarisse appears in the sequel.
· Why did they have to put more than one centaur in here, they’re supposed to be party animals roaming the countryside, EXCEPT for Mr. Brunner who is Chiron fuck everything
· Okay. They also conflated the daughters of Aphrodite with the naiads that are around, and both groups would NEVER give Grover the time of day. Buuut I guess considering where this leads, we do have to play up his sex appeal, huh?
· OKAY. The cabins in the books are actual fancy and pretty houses, befitting Greek gods. Being claimed by a god is also a special thing, and the fact that it is special contributes greatly to the 5 book story arc. Here, they just shove Percy into a weird wooden structure full of sailing paraphernalia specifically built for him.
· Okay so apparently the only danger kids of the big 3 pose is making the other big 3 jealous for some reason, not because they literally kicked off the world wars
· And apparently, Gabe’s smell isn’t supposed to keep monsters away, but the other gods?!
· Well I mean everyone seems to have known about Percy, sooo
· Also Percy has no way to integrate into camp or anything , has no connection to any of these people, anything
· Luke is missing a scar, and is also completely creepy from the get go
· Why do we keep getting meaningful close ups of Annabeth, what is she supposed to mean to anyone at this point
· Why was she fighting with a knife minutes ago and is nnow using a bow and arrow, it’s Athena not Artemis
· This game of cpture the flag is stupid
· And also undercuts Annabeth’s actual point
· In the books this involved like tactics and shit
· But like, I commend the script for making Percy lampshade how ridiculous this all is
· It’s just that capture the flag had a narrative purpose, too, which is null and voide when he was already claimed
· Also Percy is such an idiot for just going for the flag like that
· Annabeth has boob plate
· "My mother is goddess of wisdom and battle strategy. You know what that means?" - IT MEANS YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN TO TAKE OFF YOUR HELMET WHILE FACING AN ENEMY WITH A SWORD.
· AND ALSO YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER THAN TO MONOLOGUE AT AN OPPONENT
· WHAT IS HER BEEF WITH PERCY? Yes, he rudely stared at you for a while, but why do you need to cut him up like that?!
· She just beats him down and nobody does a thing they all just stand around staring what the fuck
· And then everyone cheers when she’s done beating down the completely untrained new kid?! WHAT THE FUCK
· ArE YOU ALL BRAAVOSI WHAT IS EVEN GOING ON
· THERE ARE BLUE FORCES RIGHT BEHIND YOUR FLAG WHY ARE THEY NOT DOING ANYTHING
· Percy, who already knows he’s a son of Poseidon needs to be told by divine intervention to go to the water, the only place he actually liked before
· Brief contact with water then turns him into superman and has him actually sort of beat Annabeth
· Though not as cruelly as she beat him
· And then everyone just lets him walk to the flag. Why the fuck.
· You know who actually figured out how the water powers worked? Annabeth!
· You know who actually made a battle plan to get the flag for the blue team? ANNABETH!
· Gaaaaaaaaaaaaah
· Percy gets party invitations. The fuck.
· Annabeth chases them away and then flirts with him for some reason. Percy is also completely turned on by a public beat down.
· “I definitely have strong feelings for you” whaaaat the fuck. Whaaaaaaat the fuck. This is soooo weird.
· WHERE IS MY FIVE BOOK AWKWARD PUBERTY SLOW BURN
· Oh hello flame demon. How nice of you to just show up like that and deliver the plot to us
· Okay. So. Hades wants the bolt, but outright states that he doesn’t have it. So far, the plans are to talk to one of two enraged gods and convince them he didn’t take the bolt. That’s…Not much of a plan at all unless someone here knows how to cast a zone of truth spell or something
· Hades now comes along and offers his mom in exchange for the bolt, instead of being framed for everything like in the books, and the camp counsellors just… leave Percy alone after that?
· Like, not only Grover, but the random chick who brutally tore into him in front of a crowd figured out he was going to bail without ever receiving a tiny bit of training, guys. This is stupid.
· Annabeth wants a quest. Sweetheart, this is not a quest. There is a protocol to these things, as you would know. A god has to assign it, there has to be a clear objective, and at least according to camp regulations, a prophecy, and the entire thing has to be official. But sure. Tag along with the random unprepared kid who’s going to get his mom.
· OH THAT’S JUST GREAT YEAH Annabeth would not know how to get to the underworld, she has to go ask A MAN for info SOMEONE SHOOT ME
· Luke is in a completely empty cabin with a gaming console and flat screens and pokes fun at the ren faire feel
· Luke, Annabeth has daddy issues completely independent from her godly parent but okay fine
· YEAH LUKE LECTURE US ON GREEK MYTHOLOGY
· NO NOT LIKE THAT
· Okay so my personal interpretation of Persephone is more that of an ancient times beauty and the beast kind of deal, so that she’s not entirely unhappy
· Also like, Greek mythology has a maaaaaajor Madonna/whore complex. Maaaaajor. And while she’s not one of the chastity goddesses, Persephone kiiiinda doesn’t fall in the dedicated adulteress part of that spectrum
· But foreshadowing. I get it.
· Convenient map is convenient
· Super literal soundtrack
· Also they still haven’t told us where the underworld is or how to get in there, just that it’s easy
· “Let’s split up, check everything” Greeaaat plan, Percy. And then just go looking around without actually looking thoroughly
· Now Annabeth is dragged along screaming and Grover actually knows how is greatuncle died and is the one to figure out what’s going on. Great.
· Like, in the books, he still finds his uncle Ferdinand, but no one ever knew what happened to him because he got lost during a search at a place where no one really returns from
· Annabeth is the first one to figure out that the nice woman giving them burgers and asking them to pose for pictures is not their friend and saves both Grover and Percy, and Percy figures out who she is himself immediately after, before the veil comes off and the snakes start hissing
· Oh, Uma Thurman, you are too good for this
· I need to watch Kill Bill after this just to calm down
· It’s weirdly cathartic to fight your own murderous instincts
· CALL ATTENTION TO ANNABETH’S HAIR JUST TO RUB IT IN WHY DON’T YOU
· Annabeth knows this story dammit
· Also villain monologue
· I dunno, Uma, you’re still pretty hot like that
· At least Percy figures out the reflection thing
· Ugh Annabeth has to get rescued
· How can you sense him if you were surprised by his presence before?
· Percy says he can look at her reflection and then throws away the phone he’s using to look at her when he actually sees her
· Where the fuck did they get the car
· How did Annabeth learn to drive at camp
· She can sense him, sees him coming, and he still gets to cut off her head from behind
· And then she conveniently carried around the pearl with her
· DID THIS MOVIE JUST IMPLY PERSEPHONE GOT FREAKY WITH MEDUSA?!
· How do they get a motel room, do they actually have credit cards or something? What the fuck.
· Yeah okay I don’t feel creepy at all looking at Logan Lerman’s naked torso some more
· So I guess Percy’s ocean powers in this movie work like waterbending and can also heal other people
· How he figured that out? No idea. Why he doesn’t start carrying around water everywhere he goes for just this purpose?
· And aaaalso I think the more significant story for the animosity between Athena and Poseidon would be how he fucked Medusa in her temple, but sure. The story about Athens.
· Book!Annabeth, when prompted, brings up both, by the way.
· Why is it forbidden for all gods to interact with their kids?
· DID SHE SAY SALLY UGLIANO?! SALLY JACKSON NEVER TOOK HIS NAME AND THAT IS FUCKING IMPORTANT
· Why is there laundry service in the middle of the night?
· And how did they get to check out after that?
· Yeah okay this Parthenon business is completely not in the books
· “I wonder if she really looks like that” Okay okay cutting out the field trip is fucking stupid
· No one checks the bathrooms before closing up the place?
· And no on turns off the lights in the bathrooms?
· Cleaning staff ruining the day yet again
· Every time Annabeth shoots anything in this movie I die a little on the inside
· Also hey, there are more black people in this movie than Grover and Persephone, and they all work in maintenance
· Ugh, son of Poseidon taking to the air
· Aaaand the maintenance squad has been possessed
· Annabeth gets to point out the obvious, Percy is on fire like it’s no big deal, and Hail Hydra isn’t even a thing yet. At least not in the main stream.
· Flying shoes are now fully attuned and working for him
· Annabeth shoots shit again
· At one point, it is a plot point that children not of Apollo aren’t that good at archery
· And Annabeth in the books fights with a knife, an invisibility cap, and her wits, and never shoots shit
· Medusa petrifies the hydra through fire
· Okay then
· Where do they get their money for food from
· That’s a major obstacle in the books
· The credit cards they totally have?
· And the gas money for that car
· Okay so the underworld is actually visually striking and could have had potential
· Hades is actually vengeful and out to kill the other gods
· Persephone mentions her allotted time away from him, but is still there before the solstice.
· She double crosses Hades because she hates him and shit, it’s weird
· And then she hits on what for all intents and purposes is an underaged boy
· The staredown is sooo unsatisfying and thematically rrelevant
· Luke just conveniently happened to flutter around the empire state building close to midnight because….?
· Does this camp have no security?
· The fight is badly, badly choreographed
· Luke also just has delusions of grandeur and wants to ascend to gdhood or something
· “You’Re no hero” – actually, per definition, he is.
· Also, this fucking lightning bolt is supposed to be more powerful than nuclear bombs, STOP USING IT IDIOTS
· And then Luke just kinda chills on top of the building, waiting for Percy to come and angage him in aerial combat like a video game boss
· Okay if you’re using the lightning bolt, fucking use it
· HOW CAN PERCY’S SWORD REFLECT IT DAMMIT
· No, really, if a celestial bronze sword can do that, what’ so great about it in the first place
· They use this thing like a flashier version of a tazer
· Also, they’re right underneath Olympus, you’d think the gods might actually intervene this close to their home turf
· Luke then uses Percy’s lack of proficiency at aerial combat to suggest he might be no son of Posedong after all… Which I agre with, actually, because Zesu would blast any sons of Poseidon out of the air immediately
· He also effectively reminds Percy of his waterbending powers, so he can make water tanks explode for dramatic final battle poses
· The bolt somehow doesn’t electrocute Luke when caught in a tidal wave
· Water somehow knocks Luke’s shoes off
· Mortals are allowed to go to Olympus
· Ah wait, just to ride the elevator up there
· Athena has a random British accent
· And the gods are arguing, completely oblivious to what’s going on, but also totally prepared for imminent war
· With each other in a council chamber
· Riiight
· Also the movie gave absolutely no reason for Luke to be angry
· Athena and Poseidon are conveniently already standing
· Zeus just like that agrees to bring Grover from the underworld WHICH IS NOT EVEN HIS DOMAIN
· Poseidon gets to talk to Percy and doesn’t even shrink down to do it. They never say why the gods aren’t allowed to talk to their children
· …Gods become human when they spend too much time with mortals? AND THAT’S WHY THEY’RE NOT ALLOWED TO VISIT THEIR CHILDREN?! WHAT IS THIS BULLSHIT?!?!!?!?!
· Zeus and Poseidon are RIVALS. Godhood can be BESTOWED. The rational thing to do would have been to let him become human and appoint a new god of the sea loyal to Zeus
· You’d think some tactical minded deity who doesn’t like Poseidon very much would have thought of that
· Sally can just kick out Gabe, just like that
· Chiron is totally into students disobeying. Let word of that get around, and everyone will run away and be eaten by monsters, defeating the entire purpose of the camp
· Gd dammit you kids have no chemistry and with the intense eyes and same hair color look more like siblings
· Making this almost kiss really uncomfortable.
· Also, how is Percy suddenly able to stand up against her clunky pirouette fighting without having stepped into water first?
· Ugh
