BJP rigged UP bypolls, will give details after results are out: Akhilesh
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c3d4febac298573c96cbf63c0fcc7707/c0903957667e2ae8-d7/s540x810/11a3ca6fc4e51a51e2921a2ce3b46c1446553f52.jpg)
LUCKNOW: A day before the announcement of the results for bye-elections to seven Assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday accused the BJP of rigging the elections in its favour. He, however, did not elaborate on the accusation, and said he would provide detailed information after the results are out on Tuesday. At a press conference after a number of former lawmakers from the BSP and the Congress joined the party, Yadav said, âThe BJP has done âdhandhliâ (rigging), âdhokhaâ (fraud) and whatever it could by (misusing) the administration. The government had made such an arrangement that the voters could not come out (to exercise their franchise).â âI will give detailed information after the results of the bye-election are declared on November 10,â he said. About the Bihar elections, the SP president exuded confidence that the exit polls predicting an edge for the RJD-led opposition alliance over the ruling NDA would be correct and that the tenure of those who âstarted spreading hatred in the societyâ was coming to an end. Even abroad, those who wanted to rule by dividing the society have been ousted by the people, he said. âI am happy that there is a group of journalists there (in the US), which claimed that in past four years there, a president lied more than 22 thousand times. If the journalists here count the lies of the UP chief minister and the prime minister, then it will come out in lakhs.â On demonetisation, he said those who had no black money suffered a lot and those with black money left the country. âThe BJP is responsible for the condition of the countryâs economy. The result of demonetisation is that, till date, the economy of the country has not been able to recover. It not only ended the big businessmen, but also the small traders, small farmers and the poor,â Yadav said. âBy demonetisation, BJP won in Uttar Pradesh. It was done so that BJP could win in UP. Not only demonetisation, whatever decisions the government has taken have disappointed the people. The BJP has broken the trust of the people of the entire country,â he added. The leaders who joined the SP were former Bahujan Samaj Party MPs Kailash Nath Singh Yadav and Kaiser Jahan, former Congress MP Bal Kumar Patel, and former MLAs Ram Singh Patel, Sunil Kumar Yadav, Ramesh Rahi and Dhirendra Prakash. The Samajwadi Party chief also celebrated the birthday of Khazanchi Nath- the child who was born while his mother was standing in a bank queue in Kanpur dehat post-demonetisation in 2016- by cutting a cake and giving him gifts. The SP celebrates his birthday every year to mark the âfailureâ of the BJP governmentâs demonitisation move.

New Post has been published on https://toldnews.com/politics/forget-past-differences-work-for-victory-of-all-sp-bsp-candidates/
Forget past differences, work for victory of all SP-BSP candidates:
Lucknow: BSP chief Mayawati on Tuesday said that the alliance between her party and the Samajwadi Party (SP) in Uttar Pradesh for the Lok Sabha elections was giving the ruling BJP âsleepless nightsâ.
âThis year my birthday has come at a time when the Lok Sabha elections are very near. And keeping the elections in mind, my party has formed an alliance with the SP which is giving sleepless nights to the BJP and also others,â she told the media as she turned 63.
On January 12, Mayawati and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav announced that they will contest 38 Lok Sabha seats each in Uttar Pradesh of the total 80. The SP and BSP wonât put up candidates in Rae Bareli and Amethi, the constituencies of Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
The Congress had otherwise been kept out of the alliance.
The Bahujan Samaj Party supremo also said that it was Uttar Pradesh which decides which party will form a government at the Centre. In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP won a whopping 71 seats while an ally bagged two more.
Appealing to party workers to vote for the alliance and forget past differences, Mayawati said: âTo make this alliance a success, I appeal to all the workers of SP and BSP to forget the past differences and work for the victory of both partiesâ candidates. This would be the biggest gift on my birthday.â
She also warned the party workers that the BJP was capable of spreading confusion and rumours and urged them to remain alert.
Slamming both the Centre and the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh, the four-time Chief Minister said the BJP had lost support of the people of the state as they did not fulfil promises made in 2014.
She said it would have been beneficial to the farmers if the Modi government had implemented the Swmainathan Commissionâs recommendations.
The BSP leader accused the BJP and Congress governments of corruption since independence.
âDue to the corruption, farmers, Dalits and tribals did not get opportunities to progress in life. So we had to form the BSP after getting disillusioned,â she added.
At the event, Mayawati released the 14th edition of her âBlue Bookâ, which details her struggles as the BSP leader.
She also wished Akhilesh Yadavâs wife Dimple, an MP from Kannauj, on her birthday, which also falls on Tuesday.

BSP-BJP alliance not possible, ideologies opposite: Mayawati
LUCKNOW: Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati asserted on Monday that her party would never enter into an alliance with the BJP in the assembly or the Lok Sabha elections, highlighting that the ideology of the two parties were âoppositeâ. Her clarification came amid speculation over her last weekâs statement that the BSP would vote for the BJP or any other partyâs candidate to ensure defeat of the Samajwadi Party contenders in future elections, including those of the Uttar Pradesh legislative council and the Rajya Sabha. Mayawati alleged that the SP and the Congress were misusing her recent statement so that the Muslim community distances itself from the BSP. âThe alliance of the BJP with the BSP is not possible in any polls in the future. The BSP cannot contest with the communal party,â she said in a media briefing. âOur ideology is of âsarvajan sarva dharma hitayâ (benefit of everyone and all religions)â and is opposite to the BJPâs ideology,â she said. âThe BSP cannot enter into an alliance with those having communal, casteist and capitalist ideology.â Mayawati said she would rather take âsanyasâ (retirement) from politics than ally with such parties. âI will fight on all fronts with the communal, casteist and capitalist forces, and not going to bow before anyone,â she added. The BSP leader reiterated that her party would ensure the defeat of the SPâs second candidate in future Uttar Pradesh legislative council polls. âOur party will support the candidate of any party, including the BJP, which is strong to defeat the second candidate of the SP,â she said. âI stand by my earlier statement, which is misused by the SP and the Congress for political gains so that the Muslim community distances itself from the party.â She accused the SP and the Congress of trying to ensure that Muslims did not vote for the BSP in the bypolls to seven assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, adding that they would not be successful in this endeavour. âEveryone knows that the BSP is party of an ideology and movement, and I never compromised it even when I formed the government with the BJP,â Mayawati said, adding that she had âsacrificedâ her government but never harmed the Muslim community. âThere was no Hindu-Muslim riots in my regime. History is witness to it. Under the SP and the Congress governments, there were many Hindu-Muslim riots,â she said. Mayawati underscored that she gave adequate representation to the Muslims when her party was in power, as she also pointed out that the party had given tickets to two candidates from the community in the by-elections.

via Today Bharat The BJP has written a letter to Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and asked for a special session of the state assembly, claiming that the Kamal Nath-led Congress government in the state doesnrsquo;t have a majority. "We are sending a letter to the Governor requesting an assembly session as there are a lot of issues... It (the Madhya Pradesh government) will fall on its own. I don't believe in horse-trading but I feel its time has come and it will have to go soon," Madhya Pradesh Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Gopal Bhargava was quoted as saying by news agencynbsp;ANI. He also said he wants "to discuss important issues and test the Congress governments strength". "I am writing a letter to the Governor for convening a special session of MP Assembly shortly. We want discussion on important issues like farm loan waiver and (to) test the government strength," Bhargava toldnbsp;PTI. The Congress retaliated by accusing the BJP of attempting to destabilise the Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh through use of "corrupt practices" and said in doing so they are trying to negate the mandate of people of the state. Congress general secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh Deepak Babariya said the people of the state had rejected the BJP and voted them out in the assembly elections. "The BJP is trying to destabilise the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh through corrupt practices. They are trying to negate the mandate of people of Madhya Pradesh given in favour of the Congress in assembly elections held a few months ago and people will not forgive them for this," he told PTI. Babariya said the people had rejected the BJP government's policies and had voted them out of power due to their "malgovernance". In elections for the 230-member Assembly last year, the Congress won 114 seats and the BJP coming a close second with 109. The Bahujan Samaj Party has two seats, the Samajwadi Party one and e Independents four seats. The Congress had captured power from the BJP after the assembly polls. Two short of the majority mark on its own, the Congress has the support of BSP and SP in the House. CBI questions Gehlotâs OSD in suicide case of Rajasthan police officer
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/cf9462b88eb375c103ac7842691f47b3/9a61a7f4b52ec4b3-19/s540x810/3bb886cdfe054803d23f1b1852d7aaaba16e3250.jpg)
NEW DELHI: The CBI on Tuesday questioned Deva Ram Saini, OSD to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, in connection with the alleged suicide by state police officer Vishnudutt Vishnoi in Churu on May 23, officials said. A team of special crime unit of the CBI from Delhi is in Jaipur to record statements in connection with the death of Vishnoi, who was SHO of Rajgarh. His body was found hanging from the ceiling of his official residence in Churu, officials said. The move comes at a time when the Rajasthan government is facing political turmoilĂ after Sachin Pilotâs rebellion and his subsequent sacking as deputy chief minister. Sources, however, made it clear that the agency is conducting investigation in a professional manner in a case handed over to it by the state government itself. The agency had on Monday evening questioned Congress MLA Krishna Poonia for nearly three hours at her home in Jaipur, they said. The sources said people are being examined to know various aspects of the case and it does not mean that they are accused as a final picture will emerge only after completion of probe. The Rajasthan Government had handed over the probe to the CBI in the case. Bishnoiâs brother had filed a complaint with the Rajasthan police alleging he was under pressure which led him to take this drastic step, they said. Two suicide notes were recovered from Vishnoiâ one addressed to his parents and the other to the Superintendent of Police of the district. In the suicide note to the SP, Vishnoi had said he was not able to bear the pressure put on him. In his suicide note, he had also said that he tried to give his best to the Rajasthan Police. A screenshot of a purported WhatsApp chat that Vishnoi had with one of his activist friends, in which the police officer talked about being trapped in dirty politics, had also gone viral. The leaders of the BJP and the BSP have alleged that the officer, who was known for his honesty and hardwork, was being pressured by Congress MLA Poonia, a charge that she has denied. Poonia represents Sadulpur constituency in Rajasthan.

NEW DELHI: Three powerful women politicians, each from a very different section of Indian society, may pose a big threat to the chances of Prime Minister Narendra Modi winning a second term in a general election due by May.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, part of the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty that has ruled India for much of the time since its independence from the British in 1947, joined the struggle in January, when the opposition Congress party made her its face in the nationâs most populous state, Uttar Pradesh.
Two other senior female politicians â the firebrand chief minister of West Bengal state, Mamata Banerjee, and Mayawati, a former Uttar Pradesh chief minister â are also plotting to unseat Modiâs ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) coalition by forming big opposition groupings, though there is no firm agreement between them as yet.
âThe opposition has more powerful women leaders than the NDA, and therefore they will be able to carry conviction with voters generally, and with women voters, in particular,â said Yashwant Sinha, 81, a former finance minister who quit Modiâs Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which dominates the NDA, last year.
âThey should be very worried, especially after the defeat in the three major Hindi heartland states,â he said, referring to BJPâs losses in recent state elections.
The entry of Priyanka â she is usually referred to by just her first name â into the political fray drew a gushing reaction from much of the Indian media.
There were pictures of elated supporters dancing, a lot of talk of the 47-year-oldâs resemblance to her grandmother, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, and comments about her gifts as a speaker able to connect with voters. That contrasts with her brother, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who in the past has been criticized for lacking the common touch.
TRIPLE CHALLENGE
The other two women seen threatening Modiâs grip on power have a lot more experience than Priyanka, and both could be seen as potential prime ministerial candidates in a coalition government.
Mayawati, a 63-year-old former teacher who goes by just the one name, last month formed an alliance between her Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) â which mainly represents Hinduismâs lowest caste, the Dalits â and its once bitter foes, the Samajwadi Party that tends to draw support from other lower castes and Muslims.
Then there is 64-year-old Banerjee, who has twice been railways minister in federal governments. Last month, Banerjee â who built her All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) party after leaving Congress in 1997 â organised an anti-BJP rally in Kolkata that attracted hundreds of thousands.
Party colleagues of the three women leaders said they were not available for comment.
To be sure, Modi remains, for now, the most popular leader in the country, opinion polls show.
Modi also cannot be accused of ignoring womenâs issues during his first term. He has launched a government campaign â Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, or âSave the Daughter, Educate the Daughterâ â and called for the eradication of female foeticide. His campaigns to provide toilets and subsidised gas cylinders for poorer Indians are often promoted as ways to empower women.
He has six women in his 26-strong cabinet, though a lot of power is centralised with Modi and a couple of senior male lieutenants.
The BJP said it would seek votes on the basis of achievements under Modi and the opposition did not have a âpositive alternative to the government, and its activitiesâ.
PERSONAL TIES
Congress has said it wants to form a post-poll partnership with Mayawatiâs BSP and SP alliance, though it will be fighting against it in 78 seats. The alliance will not contest two Gandhi strongholds won multiple times by Rahul and his mother Sonia.
Mayawati told a press conference announcing the alliance with the SP that Congress was not part of it because they did not think âthere would be much benefit in having them with us before the electionâ.
The BSP, however, backs Congress-led governments in the northern states of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
There is no formal alliance between Banerjee and Congress, though she does know Rahul and Priyanka.
Dinesh Trivedi, a former federal minister and a close aide to Banerjee, said she enjoys a good personal relationship with Sonia Gandhi, the matriarch of the dynasty and a former Congress president, and so working with her two children would not be a problem.
âIn terms of experience, Mamata Banerjee is far ahead,â Trivedi said. âI wouldnât be surprised if Rahul Gandhi or Priyanka Gandhi would look at Mamata Banerjee as somebody who could really inspire them.â
The strength of Priyanka, Mayawati and Banerjee as a potential opposition alliance is that they can appeal to different parts of the electorate.
Two Congress sources said the formal entry into politics of Priyanka could help rejuvenate the party in Uttar Pradesh, where it is a marginal player. Coming from what is Indiaâs first family, they said she could appeal to upper caste voters in the state who typically vote for the pro-business BJP.
A Congress leader close to the Gandhis said she would attract women, young people, and floating voters.
Priyanka is far from a political neophyte, having supported her brother and mother during previous election campaigns. She has also experienced political and personal tragedy, as Rahul Gandhi stressed in a speech last week.
âYou have to understand my relationship with my sister â we have been through a hell of a lot together,â he said.
âEverybody is like âlook, you come from this illustrious family, and everything is easyâ. Actually itâs not so easy. My father was assassinated, my grandmother was assassinated, huge political battles, wins in political battles, losses in political battles.â
âNATIONAL LEADERâ
BSP spokesman Sudhindra Bhadoria said Mayawatiâs gender did not matter.
âShe has managed a party from scratch to this level. The important fact is that she has organised large numbers, both men and women, Dalits, other backward castes, the poor, minorities,â Bhadoria said. âI donât fit them in the straightjacket of male-female. I think sheâs a national leader.â
She is regarded as ambitious. A U.S. diplomatic cable in 2008, among many thousands leaked by Wikileaks two years later, described her as âfirst-rate egomaniacâ who âis obsessed with becoming prime ministerâ.
But Mayawati has also been credited with empowering oppressed lower caste Hindus.
Banerjee, who defeated a 34-year-old communist government in West Bengal in an election in 2011, is known for her streetwise political skills and portrays herself as a secular leader in a country polarised under the BJP.

New Post has been published on http://www.visionmp.com/karnataka-elections-2018/
Karnataka Elections: BJP down, Congress second fiddle, Opposition counts gains
Faced with a growing BJP, Opposition leaders across party lines welcomed the developments in Karnataka Saturday. Apart from stopping the BJP juggernaut, parties such as the BSP, Samajwadi Party, TDP and Trinamool Congress see the Congress willingness to pay second fiddle to the JD(S) in the state as a positive development on way to 2019.
There were indications that several Opposition leaders would attend the swearing-in of the JD(S)-Congress government, with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeting that she had been invited.
BSP chief Mayawati, whose party fought the Karnataka polls in alliance with the JD(S) and won one seat, Kollegal, said the entire Opposition had remained united to foil the BJP designs in the state. Addressing the media after the BJP conceded defeat before the trust vote in Karnataka, she accused the Narendra Modi government of misusing government machinery to âcapture power in states despite being in minorityâ. The party had failed to do in Karnataka âbecause of Opposition unityâ, Mayawati said, adding that this might prompt the BJP to change its strategy for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. She did not spell out what that change would be.
The BSP chief also thanked the Supreme Court âfor taking a firm standâ during the Karnataka crisis. Alleging that governors appointed by the Modi government were under pressure, she said, âThey should resign if not able to function freely.â
Going one step further, SP president Akhilesh Yadav sought resignation of the Modi government âon moral groundsâ. He tweeted: âIt is a day of win of public mandate over money power in Indian politics. Those who think they could buy anyone, they have got a lesson today that there are still people who do not take politics as business.â
Addressing a press conference at Khajuraho, Akhilesh also hailed the Supreme Court for its role in the Karnataka crisis, saying it had protected democracy.
Mamata Banerjee tweeted to say that the fall of the short-lived BJP government in Karnataka was âa victory of the regional front and democracyâ. The use of words by the Trinamool Congress leader was significant, hinting at a federal outfit instead of a broad grouping anchored by the Congress. Mamata has of late been trying to put together such a front, reaching out to her Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana counterparts.
TDP president and former BJP ally N Chandrababu Naiduâs office issued a statement on his behalf, calling the Karnataka developments âa victory of democracyâ. âAs a chief minister and as someone who believes in democracy, I am welcoming this. Everyone in the country will be happy about this development,â the Andhra Pradesh CM said.
Naidu, who was said to have helped the Congress and JD(S) in the recent elections, added, â(The) Prime Minister and BJP national president have tried to deride democracy⌠What message have the Prime Minister and BJP president combine given to the nation by encouraging the corrupt? What is the message they are giving to the youth?â
Drawing a parallel with Tamil Nadu, where the DMK has accused the BJP of propping up the AIADMK government, Naidu said, âThe BJP brought back Gali Janardhan Reddy who looted the mineral wealth of the country to the forefront and did politics⌠On the lines of Tamil Nadu, they tried to misuse the institution of the governor in Karnataka too.â
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav tweeted: âTruth can never be defeated! Truth will always defeat a lie or liar!â Tejashwi had led a delegation of the RJD, Congress, CPI-ML and HAM leaders to Bihar Raj Bhavan Friday to ask Governor Satya Pal Malik to invite them to form a government in the state as the RJD, like the BJP in Karnataka, was the single largest party.

Akhilesh on KASAB remark: BJP coining petty acronyms fearing defeat
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today accused BJP leaders of coining petty acronyms for the fear of defeat in the the Assembly polls.
The Samajwadi Party leader also took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for attacking him, saying he holds âsuch a high position but fights with meâ and âindulges in such a petty talk which does not suit himâ.
Referring to the acronym âKASABâ coined by Shah for Congress, SP and BSP yesterday, Akhilesh said,
âBJP people have lost the battle on the ground and so their language has changed.â
Taking a dig at the BJP chief, he said, âWe used to study that it was âKA se kabutarâ but these people are teaching something else. This time round, people are going to set your âkabutarâ (pigeons) free.â
Addressing another rally at Pechpedva, Akhilesh said, âThey (BJP leaders) seem to be indulging in petty talk in view of their bad showing in the elections.â
He wondered on what course BJP wants to take the polls and said the SP only wanted to take it on the path of development.
Shah had yesterday used the acronym âKASABâ, saying âKaâ (in Hindi) stands for Congress, âSaâ for Samajwadi Party and âBaâ for BSP. He had said that till KASAB is laid to rest, UP will not have development.
Kasab was the Pakistani terrorist who was arrested during the 26/11 Mumbai attack and hanged in 2012.
Attacking Modi, Akhilesh said, âThe Prime Minister is sitting on such a high post and indulging in such a petty talk which does not suit him.â
Taking a dig at Modi, he said, âit seems he does not like staying in Delhi and is moving about all over UPâŚif he so desires, he can swap places with me.â
He added, âPiqued are only those who are faced with defeatâŚonly those who are left behind talk about the past.â
On Modiâs remark that he is an âadopted sonâ of UP, the Chief Minister said, âPMji do not confuse our Uttar Pradesh⌠if you are the adopted son of UP, then we belong to this placeâŚwho is going to adopt usâ.
He said if the Prime Minister wants a debate, he should not talk about other issues. âI say this openly that if he (PM) wants a debate with me on development issues I am ready for itâŚwe ask what you have done for UP and we will also tell what all we have done,â he said.
On the foreign trips of Prime Minister, he said, âThe PM has toured so many countries, has he brought anything for the country he should tell?â
âWe in UP have tried to emulate the policing system in the US and developed UP-100âŚnow policemen cannot misbehave with the public,â he said.
On the prime ministerâs allegations that police stations are run by SP people, Akhilesh said he does not know that it is also run through UP-100.
âWe admit that there had been some shortcomings, but it will improve with UP-100 and the anomalies in the police working will be addressed,â he said.
Attacking the BJP, he said when SP had decided to distribute laptops they called it âjhunjhunaâ (toy) but later went on to include it in their manifesto.
âWhy they allege that we discriminated in its distributionâŚyou people can go out and ask whether meritorious students have not got it,â he added.
