Thank you thank you THANK YOU for doing this again!! This is so fucking cute and was actually the best surprise to come home to after being exhausted from work and extra school stuff (and chronic illness pain but we won't talk about that). I didn't even remember what I had sent an ask for, but this was perfect :)

“I’m dying, Dean.”

Dean smiles, looking down at Cas. He’s sweaty, has kicked off all the covers down to his knees. His feathered hair is plastered to his forehead and eyes bright and shiny.

“You’re not dyin’, Cas. It’s a fever. Your body is fighting something off, you gotta just rest and let it do its job.”

“This cannot be normal.”

“Believe me, buddy, it is.” Dean brings a cool cloth up to Cas’ forehead, watches the way he shivers a little at the contact. 

Dean is doing his best to be considerate about this, to not think about how Cas’ over-hot body and sweat slicked neck might feel against him. He’s not thinking about it! 

Mostly. 

“I brought you soup,” he says. “You gotta try to at least drink the broth. It will help. Plus another Gatorade.”

“Being human is a nightmare.” When he speaks, Cas’ voice is even lower than usual, gravel rough in his sore throat. 

“You’re tellin’ me,” Dean says, pushing the sweat slick hair back from Cas’ forehead gently. “But I got you, I’m here, and all you need to do right now is rest. Try to sit up a little, here.”

Dean gets Cas upright a bit, hands him a mug of chicken soup. Cas takes the smallest sip, and Dean knows he’s only doing it to please him. 

It pleases him. 

“I’ll put a movie on,” Dean says, grabbing the laptop from the nightstand. “And I’ll stay with you.”

“No, Dean, I don’t want to get you sick.”

“Eh,” Dean shrugs. “It will happen or it won’t. And besides, if it does, you can take care of me next, yeah?”

Cas nods solemnly, and Dean gets in bed next to him, shoulder to shoulder, balancing the laptop on his knees. 

“Here, this is perfect,” he says. “The sick day movie of all time.”

He puts on The Princess Bride, and Cas leans his head against Dean’s shoulder.
