MASTERPIECE ||BCN
PAIRING: chan x fem!reader
SUMMARY: it’s a late night in your apartment with your boyfriend making dinner everything feels right.
It was a sight I could never get tired of—him, in this quiet, domestic moment, humming softly under his breath. He didn’t know I was there yet, so I stayed silent for a moment, taking it all in. There was something so endearing about how concentrated he looked, brow furrowed slightly as he stirred the sauce.
“Are you just going to stand there, or are you planning to help?” His deep, playful voice broke through my thoughts. He still hadn’t turned around, but somehow, he always knew when I was nearby.
I smiled, stepping closer. “I’m not interrupting a masterpiece, am I?”
He turned his head slightly, the corner of his mouth quirking up in that familiar, boyish grin that always made my heart flutter. “Masterpiece, huh? Well, now you’re just trying to get on my good side.”
“I’m always on your good side,” I teased, slipping my arms around his waist from behind and resting my cheek against his back. He smelled warm and familiar, like home.
Chris chuckled softly and set the wooden spoon down before turning around to face me. His hands moved to rest gently on my hips, pulling me closer. “You’re not wrong,” he murmured, his voice softer now. His eyes searched mine for a moment, and then he leaned down, pressing a sweet, lingering kiss to my forehead.
I tilted my face up toward him, and he didn’t hesitate to kiss me again, this time on the lips—slow, warm, and filled with so much love it made my knees feel weak. When he pulled away, his hand came up to cup my cheek, his thumb brushing lightly against my skin.
“You’ve got sauce on your nose,” he said, a teasing glint in his eyes.
I blinked in confusion. “What? No, I don’t.”
“You do now,” he said, grinning mischievously as he tapped the tip of my nose with his finger, smudging a tiny bit of sauce onto it.
“Chris!” I laughed, swatting at his chest.
He laughed too, the sound warm and rich, and leaned down to kiss the tip of my nose. “There. All better.”
I rolled my eyes, but I couldn’t stop smiling. “You’re such a dork.”
“And you love it,” he said confidently, turning back to the stove to stir the sauce again. “Here,” he added, holding out the wooden spoon. “Taste this for me. Tell me if it’s missing anything.”
I took the spoon, our fingers brushing briefly. I tasted the sauce, and my eyes widened. “This is incredible, Chris. It’s perfect.”
“Yeah?” He glanced at me over his shoulder, his expression softening. “You’re just saying that to make me feel good.”
I shook my head, stepping closer to him again. “No, I mean it. You’re amazing.”
His lips curved into a shy smile, and he reached out to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. His hand lingered on my cheek, his thumb brushing over my skin in a way that made my heart ache with how much I loved him.
“You’re the amazing one,” he said quietly. “You’re the reason I do all this, you know.”
I felt my throat tighten at his words, and I stood on my tiptoes to kiss him again. This one was deeper, more tender, as if I could somehow pour all the love I felt for him into that one kiss.
The timer on the oven went off, breaking the moment, and Chris groaned, reluctantly pulling away. “Saved by the bell,” he muttered, grinning as he turned to pull the pasta out of the oven.
I watched him as he worked, the way he moved around the kitchen with ease, so comfortable and confident. This wasn’t just a meal—it was him showing me how much he cared in the way he knew best.
As he plated the food, I leaned against the counter, watching him with a smile. “You know,” I said softly, “you don’t have to do all this to make me happy. Just being with you is enough.”
Chris paused, his eyes meeting mine. He set down the plate and stepped closer, wrapping his arms around me. “I know,” he murmured. “But I like making you happy. You deserve the world, Y/N.”
My heart swelled, and I reached up to cup his face, running my fingers gently along his jawline. “I already have the world,” I said. “I have you.”
He leaned down, resting his forehead against mine, and we stayed like that for a moment, breathing each other in.
“Alright,” he said after a while, his voice light again. “Go set the table before the food gets cold, lazybones.”
I laughed and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before heading to the dining area. Moments like this were the ones I cherished most—quiet, simple, and full of love. As I set the table, I glanced back at him in the kitchen, his face lit with a soft smile as he carried the plates over.
This was home—him, me, and these little moments that meant everything.

Knocking against the front door, Lee Know, or Minho as you’d refer to him as, leaned against the doorframe while muttering profanities under his breath.
When the door opened, he looked down and sheepishly grinned at you. "I'm drunk," he slurred the obvious as he stumbled in and rested his head over your shoulder. "I need somewhere to…” he whispered. It seemed as if he couldn’t finish his sentence.
“Minho… Is that you?” You whispered lightly, only that tone was what made you understand it might’ve been him. There stood a tall silhouette hovering over you. “Yeah, it’s me,” He whispered back as he leaned more of his weight onto you, his voice slurred but still recognizable.
He closed his eyes for a moment before speaking again, his breath fanning against your ear. “Can I crash here for the night?”
What was happening? The first place he could’ve thought of going had to be here?
You spoke once more, with a snarky tone “And why would I, let YOU stay here.” “Cause I’m drunk,” he mumbled into your shoulder, his words slightly muffled. “And I have no where else to go,” he added and pouted slightly.
He shifted slightly, his arms wrapping around your waist lazily. “I promise I won’t cause any trouble. Please?” “Fine.” You mumbled letting him in and locking the door behind you.
“You’re sleeping on the couch, do you want anything?” You continued. He smirked slightly against your shoulder, pleased with your answer. He lifted his head from your shoulder, using your arm as balance to keep himself steady.
“Got any water?” he asked, rubbing his eyes drunkenly. “M so thirsty,” he said as he walked into the living room, throwing himself onto the couch lazily, spreading across the surface.
“Yeah.” You then brought yourself into the kitchen and filled up a glass of water for the drunk man on your couch.
You thought, he just had to get drunk, he had to come here of all places. You hated him as much as he hated you, and him coming over made it all much worse. As you handed him his glass of water, Minho slowly sat up on the couch and took it from you, taking a few greedy sips. He sighed in relief as he felt the cold liquid slide down his throat.
“Thanks,” he mumbled as he set the glass down on the coffee table in front of the couch. “You’re being awfully kind to me,” he teased, cocking a brow at you. “You’re usually all snarky and sarcastic.”
“Only because you’re snarky first. Is all that alcohol you took making you all of a sudden innocent?” You snarled at him. He chuckled lowly and leaned back into the couch, a lazy smirk on his face. He patted his lap with an exaggerated motion, silently suggesting for you to sit.
“Nah, alcohol makes me honest and touchy,” he answered with a low hum, his eyes wandering over your exposed skin.
“You’re crazy and drunk.”
He patted his lap once more as he let out a lazy chuckle. He gave you a small cocky smile, his eyes trailing up your body slowly.
“Probably,” he agreed. “Now, come here,” he demanded, his tone suddenly dropping to a lower octave.
“No. You should get some sleep dude.” You chuckled lightly at his constant attempts. What was going on inside his head?
He pouted up at you, his eyes widening. He let out a whine as he rested his head against the back of the couch. He patted his lap again, the gesture more forceful and impatient this time.
“Come here. I don’t wanna sleep just yet,” he mumbled, “I’ll go to sleep if you sit on my lap and keep me company.”
“You’re gonna regret this in the morning. We hate eachother Minho.” He shrugged nonchalantly, his lips pulling into a crooked smirk. “I’ll deal with that later, just sit on my lap. I just want you near me right now,” he mumbled. He patted his lap once more, his hand gripping your wrist as he tried to tug you down.
Lucky him, he successfully tugged you down onto him. He smiles victoriously, clearly satisfied to have gotten his way again. He shifted you slightly so you’re sat right on his lap, your body straddling his thighs.
“There we go,” he mumbled, one of his hands resting on your hip, the other gently grasping your chin to keep your gaze on him. “Was that so hard?”

__________________________________________________
The streets were empty that evening, the chill of early autumn in the air. Y/n stood on the porch of her apartment, a cup of tea in hand, staring at the misty streetlights that flickered in the distance. Her thoughts were far away, trailing back to a conversation she hadn’t wanted to have. It had been coming for a while, she knew that. She’d just hoped it wouldn’t feel like this.
It had been two weeks since she’d seen Seungmin, her puppy like friend. and now, with the weight of silence between them, Y/n wasn’t sure what to do anymore. Their friendship had always been easy—
effortless, even. But something had changed after that night at the diner, after she’d blurted out the truth that had been gnawing at her for months.
“I think I’m in love with you.”
She could still hear those words echoing in her head, the way his expression had shifted, the way his gaze had hardened, but he hadn’t said anything. Not immediately. Just a quiet, lingering pause, followed by a quick "I need to go."
She couldn’t blame him for needing space. The truth had come out of nowhere, a bomb in the middle of a friendship that had felt like it was built on something solid, something unshakeable. But the truth, no matter how much it burned, was a weight Y/n had carried for too long. And now, she was left with the aftermath of it all—uncertainty, and the painful stretch of time in between when things had been normal, and when they hadn’t.
Her phone buzzed in her hand, and for a second, she thought it was just her mind playing tricks. But no—there it was, a text from Seungmin, his contact photo lighting up her screen as she reads the message.
“Can we talk?”
The words were simple, but Y/n’s heart skipped a beat. (Or two) It had been so long since she’d heard from him, so long since he’d reached out. She’d been waiting for this moment with a sense of dread and anticipation, and now, the time had come.
She quickly typed back, trying to keep her response calm, collected.
“Of course. When?”
A pause. Then, a reply.
“Can I come by in 10 minutes?”
Y/n felt a flutter of nerves in her stomach. She wasn’t sure if she was ready, but she nodded to herself, as if convincing her mind that she could handle this. After all, they were best friends. They had always been able to figure things out. It was just that... this was different. He would react different would he?
She set her tea down on the porch railing and went inside to quickly straighten up her apartment. She didn’t know what to expect from this conversation. She only knew that whatever happened next would change everything. In either the best way possible or she would forever miss her puppy of a best friend.
________________________^^________________________
When the knock came, Y/n was already standing by the door. She opened it to find Seungmin standing there, hands stuffed in his jacket pockets, his expression unreadable. His hair was a little longer than she remembered, his face a little more tired. But when his eyes met hers, Y/n couldn’t help the rush of warmth that flooded her chest.
“I didn’t think you’d want to see me,” Seungmin said, his voice hesitant, but not quite as distant as it had been in the past two weeks.
Y/n swallowed. “I wasn’t sure if you wanted to see me.”
He let out a small, almost bitter laugh. “Fair enough.”
She stepped aside to let him in, her heart pounding a little faster than it should. She led him to the couch, both of them sitting a little too far apart, the space between them stretching like a vast ocean neither one of them was ready to cross.
For a long moment, neither of them spoke. Y/n felt the tension in the air, thick and heavy, as if the words they needed to say were trapped between them.
“I’m sorry,” Seungmin finally said, breaking the silence. He turned his gaze to the floor, not looking at her. “I shouldn’t have run off like that. It wasnt right of me after you said th- that...”
Y/n shook her head, her breath shaky. “No, I shouldn’t have sprung that on you. I didn’t—"
“You don’t need to apologize, Pabo-“ Seungmin cut her off, his voice quieter. “I just... I wasn’t ready. I didn’t know how to handle it.”
Y/n bit her lip, her gaze falling to her hands. “I shouldn’t have said anything at all.”
“No,” Seungmin said, his tone firm now, as if he were trying to convince both of them. “You should’ve. You should have said it sooner. I just... I didn’t know how to respond.”
The silence stretched again, both of them wrestling with words they didn’t quite know how to say. Finally, Y/n spoke, her voice small. “Do you feel the same way?”
Seungmin didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he turned his gaze toward her, his eyes dark with something unreadable.
“I don’t know,” he said, his voice low. “I think I do, but I’ve been avoiding it. Avoiding you. Because I don’t want to ruin everything we’ve built. I don’t want to mess it up.”
Y/n’s chest tightened at the admission. She had feared this. She had feared that even if he felt something, it wasn’t enough. And now, hearing him say it out loud was like a blow to her heart.
“I don’t want to mess it up either,” she whispered, her voice shaky. “But I can’t keep pretending like I don’t feel this way.”
Seungmin let out a long breath, his hand running through his hair. “I know. I’ve been pretending too, Y/nnie.. I’ve been pretending that we can just go back to how things were, but... I don’t think we can. Not after what you said.”
Y/n nodded slowly, her throat tight. “I don’t think we can either.”
Seungmin’s eyes softened, the hardness from before slowly melting away. His dark eyes shining slightly. He leaned forward slightly, his voice quieter now. “Do you think it’s too late for us?”
Y/n looked at him, really looked at him, and for the first time in weeks, something in her chest unknotted. Maybe it wasn’t too late. Maybe it was just the beginning of something new, something terrifying and beautiful and uncertain all at once.
“I don’t know,” she said, her voice full of vulnerability. “But I want to try. I want to try to figure it out with you.”
Seungmin’s lips tugged upward in a small, hesitant smile. “Me too.”
He reached out then, slowly, as if giving her the space to pull away if she wanted to. But y/n didn’t pull away. She let him take her hand, her face heating softly as there fingers interlace in the space between them.
For the first time in what felt like forever, y/n felt the weight in her chest lift. There were no guarantees, no promises of what came next. They were standing on the edge of something uncertain, but they were standing together.
“I’m scared,” she admitted quietly, her voice barely above a whisper.
“I am too,” Seungmin said softly, his thumb brushing over the back of her hand. “But maybe it’s worth the risk.”
Y/n nodded, a tear slipping down her cheek before she could stop it. “Maybe it is.”
They didn’t need to say anything more. Their hands still entwined, they sat in the quiet, letting the tension settle, letting themselves breathe in the space between them, knowing that whatever came next—whatever happened to their friendship—would be something they would face together.
Authors notes: eek!!! This is the first ever little one shot I’ve ever written! I hope people enjoy it, i feel like i made Minnie out of character a bit for this one but i just felt right this way? Let know what you think! HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVE TO MY FELLOW AUSSIES ASWELL!!!!
