Meghan comes out on top, defeating Kitty in their battle of fists. She leaves the stage (for a delicious Champs Les Sims Distillery™️ beverage) and Kitty takes her frustrations out on the mic - which gets on Tits' tits!
"That tart stole my bit! I did angry swearing bitch first!”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With her Champs Les Sims Distillery™️ cocktail in-hand, Tits approaches the stage to show Kitty EXACTLY how she feels about her supposedly lifting her routine.
The audience is stunned - but none more so than Johnny. How could comedy bring about so much misery?!
Tumblr media
"This didn't go as well as I had hoped… things went from a fun night of amateur comedy to something reminiscent of a holiday meal with my parents! The only thing missing was someone throwing a tofurkey at my head - and THAT is why I stopped being vegan.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Johnny takes to the stage and calls time on the open mic night! He then joins Mía and Liz for a post-chaos chat, lamenting that this might put him off performing for good.
They listen, but are both very distracted by how good he looks - blue check doesn’t work for everyone 🙃
Tumblr media
"Maybe it was the romantic lighting, or how he finally took charge of the situation after it had already gotten completely out of hand, or maybe it was that third Champs Les Sims Distillery™️ drink, but wow - Johnny was looking dreamy tonight!”
Tumblr media
"I think I hiccup might be a little… tipsy… but hiccup… I think I really like Johnny!”

Best Friends Brother
Tumblr media
As your eyes glance around the beautiful garden filled with white chairs either side of the aisle with flower arrangements all the way to the alter. You can’t help but feel utterly enchanted by the scene, it’s stunning. However, you’re in the wrong place right now, Sue specifically asked you to meet her out back to help her get ready but as soon as you turnaround to head there, you bump into Johnny of all people.
To put it simply, Johnny isn’t exactly your favourite person and you’re not his either. Well, that’s a lie. When around others you don’t get along, you don’t hate each other you just don’t really have much to say since he’s always so cocky and you’re his older sisters best friend. But behind closed doors, the sexual chemistry is off the charts and you’ve spent too many nights tangled up in his sheets to count on two hands.
No one knows about your late night rendezvous though, especially Sue. And she can never find out. It would hurt her. You’re her best friend and Johnny is her little brother. So it’s a secret and it will always remain one.
“Wow” his lips curl up into a genuine smile as his eyes take in your figure in the floor length  dark purple bridesmaid dress you have on “you look, great” he says as he tugs on his bottom lip with his teeth, clearly unable to stop those dirty thoughts running wild in his head.
“Just great?” you ask, brow raising slightly before you chuckle and move to walk past him but he grabs your arm just in time to stop you from going anywhere “not just great, but gorgeous. In fact if this wasn’t my sisters wedding then i’d say you were the best looking one here” he turns his head in your direction, his dreamy blue eyes meeting yours, both filled with lust and need. But you can’t do this here. Today is Sue and Reed’s day.
“Johnny” you whisper lazily, the feel of his skin on yours makes you shiver with desire for him to fill you up, kiss you and make you cum around his cock multiple times but that will have to wait. You really need to snap out of this. So you do, you blink and look back up at him before slowly pulling away from “Sue needs me now, i have to go” and just like that he’s behind you, watching as you walk away. Mostly just to watch the way your ass moves in that dress. You can’t say you blame him though, your ass does look good.
The second you step foot indoors you hear Sue moaning about anything and everything to who sounds like Alicia.
“Your saviour is here” you announce and Sue turns around, beaming at you and you can’t help but stare at her. She looks absolutely breathtaking and her dress is the most beautiful you’ve ever seen. She looks just like a princess.  Alicia then leaves to go and check on Ben, leaving you two to it.
“Sue, you look amazing” tears brim in your eyes, drowning out your vision, she spots it immediately, rushing to hand you a tissue “don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry. You’ll ruin your makeup”
You take it from her, dabbing underneath your eyes before taking the eyeliner from her to re do what couldn’t be saved in time “i can’t believe you’re finally getting your big day” you finish zipping up her dress before helping her out with her veil.
“Well i’ve waited long enough” she laughs as you finish up and you turn her round so she can look at herself in the mirror.
“Now, i just need to finish my make-up. Help a girl out?”
You don’t even bother to respond, instead you start helping, picking up her bag of products. Her foundation is done so it’s just her eye makeup and lipstick that’s left to do. You go with a nice subtle smokey eye with a little silver glitter on top. Then to finish it off you apply some nude lip gloss to her lips before leaving her to do her own mascara, you would hate to mess it up after all.
“Oh i forgot to check with you, is Johnny outside?”
Even the mention of his name has an obvious effect on your body and it’s something you’ve never been able to control but instead of letting it show, you put your poker face on, clearing your throat and mumbling a quick “yes” and thank god she doesn’t catch on or say anything. You must have hid it well.
“Right, ladies the guests are arriving now and Reed is helping them all to their seats so are you ready?” Johnny pokes his head into the room and Sue nods, letting out a deep breath.
He glances at you before Sue walks over to him to make their way to the other room in which she’s going to be leaving out of to walk down the aisle, leaving you standing there sighing.
Guess it’s time for you to take your own place too. You follow closely behind them and then you and Alicia wait for your queue to go, she goes first, then you. Flowers in hand, smiling around at all of the guests, every one of them dressed up in bright colours, wedding hats galore. And as you take your place next to Alicia at the side of the alter, you watch your best friend walk down the aisle with pride. She means the world to you and if there’s one person who’s the most deserving of happiness, it’s her.
Reed wipes away tears as she stands next to him and you feel your heart melting, more tears forming. Johnny watches you from across the way, wiping your own tears of joy before his focus shifts to the vows.
Sometimes he gets urges to ask you out on a date but as quickly as those urges form, they fade. There’s not a chance in hell of you saying yes to him and he knows it. He’s just a hookup and he’s no stranger to half platonic relationships. He’s never particularly been one for commitment anyway but something about you changes his mind. Since you’ve been Sue’s best friend for god knows how long now, he’s watched many guys come and go in and out of your life. He’s watched and even listened to the many times Sue has held you whilst you cried and to tell the truth, he’s never been able to fathom why anyone would ever want to hurt you. Why anyone would ever cheat or leave you. He always had the biggest crush on you and it’s never left.
Hence why one day he made a move, giving you his best cheesy pick up line at a party Sue threw one weekend. But you ignored him, it was only 2 hours into the party and you weren’t drunk enough to be taking him seriously. However, multiple drinks and shots later, he tried his luck again, and he hit the jackpot. You took him up on his offer. Whilst Sue was in the other room trying to clean up after her guests, you were in Johnny’s room, stripping off in-between heated open mouthed kisses.
It’s pretty obvious where that lead and the next day, you were so mad at yourself for letting it get that far. You cursed alcohol and your stupid brain as you quickly re dressed, repulsed at yourself and your actions. That’s when Johnny shot up, trying his best to make you stay, shutting the door as you tried to open it and standing in the way. You made eye contact with the player and he kissed you. You can’t recall anything else other than feeling captivated by him. His lips moved in sync with yours like they were always made to touch and you couldn’t control the way your body yearned for more.
And the rest is history. Since then you’ve been late night texting and meeting up whenever you could to hook up. Johnny eventually got his own apartment too which only lead to more often than not, the pair of you fucking like rabbits.
It hasn’t just been hookups though, as much as you’d love to lie and pretend that it doesn’t mean a thing, it does. You like Johnny, of course you do. He’s actually the only guy that’s ever been able to make you cum. The only guy who isn’t completely selfish in bed. He makes it all about you, every dam time and you feel torn when it comes to him. A huge part of you knows the two of you feel something deeper and more than just sex. You feel something more intimate. It’s definitely not love but it could be, one day.
Before you know it, you’re ripped from your Johnny themed thoughts as everyone starts cheering and clapping. You join in, watching Reed kiss Sue passionately before the two of them walk back up the aisle. You, Alicia, Johnny and Ben all follow behind with the guests joining in.
The reception is just inside and as soon as you all enter, the music begins. The real old school music. You’re The One That I Want from Grease. The DJ really has a way of luring everyone onto the dance floor right away. Usually at weddings, everyone sits down drinking and chilling before the buffet food comes out but not this wedding.
Sue grabs your hand and the two of you re enact the classic Sandy and Danny scene, overly dramatic though of course and unbeknownst to you, Johnny is watching your every move, unable to stop himself grinning like a cheshire cat. It’s very clear you’re having the time of your life and all he wants is to be able to dance with you.
Once the song is over, you walk around the room to look for the table that you’re going to be sitting at until you hear “over here” and you know that voice anywhere. You turn around to find Johnny sat down, a large glass of wine next to his beer. He ordered for you? Why?
“You’re next to me, hope that’s okay” he stands up, helping you into your chair and tucking it in for you before taking his seat again and sliding the glass of wine to you.
“White wine is still your favourite, right?” nerves fill his voice as he keeps his eyes locked on you “yes, it is. You remembered. Thank you” you waste no time in taking a big gulp of it, you can practically feel yourself getting aroused just by sitting next to the man and to think you’re going to have to deal with it the whole day is torture.
You press your thighs together, trying your hardest to stop whatever is happening in its tracks.
“You not going to dance some more?” he asks, sitting back in his chair, one arm draped round the back of yours “maybe in a minute, i’m still recovering from the first one” you giggle nervously, scared of being seen with him. Sure, you were put with him by Sue herself but what if your farce comes apart now, after all, he is being nice to you and the resting bitch face is missing instead a happy expression has taken its place.
Maybe no one will notice since it’s Sue’s big day, that could be the excuse you use if anyone says anything but then again, why should you care to make excuses? If you enjoy his company that shouldn’t be an issue. Maybe Sue won’t care. She’s always wanted Johnny to settle down with someone nice and you’re nice, right? She’s also wanted you to find someone too. But her best friend and brother getting together probably isn’t what she had in mind.
The song Crazy In Love by Beyonce comes on and Sue practically summons you to the dance floor, so you down the rest of your wine before you rush over to join her. Skipping the regular moves, you and Sue both start dancing like it’s just the two of you. No move off limits as you both grind your hips in circles, shaking your asses and laughing your heads off. She is the only person in this world that can make you laugh like that and you feel incredibly lucky to have her and to be here for her big day.
As your moves get more risqué you catch Johnny adjusting his cock in his dress trousers before drinking more of his beer.
The tension is building within you and you’ve never had to fight temptation so much in the whole year that you two have been doing this. You’re usually very good at waiting and making him wait for it but right now, it’s too hard. The next song that comes on is Check On It by Beyonce, again.
The more of the song that you dance to, you notice the lyrics surprisingly match your situation and a wave of confidence drenches you like rain.
If you got it flaunt it, boy I know you want it While I turn around you watch me check up on it Oh you watchin me shake it, I see it in ya face Ya can't take it, it's blazin’, you watch me in amazement
You continue to show off your best assets, making sure you tease and wind him up more before you make any kind of move which is what you usually do. Any time the two of you fool around, you make him wait and earn it, but it’s one of many reasons why he loves hooking up with you, you’re not easy, you know your worth and you’re 100% worth the wait.
The song finishes leaving yourself and Sue breathless almost. Reed stalks closer, handing his bride a drink and you head over to the bar to get another for yourself before sitting back down again. The buffet will be available soon and you’re desperate for something to eat. Peckish isn’t the word.
“Hello again” Johnny beams and you sip some more wine, a rather big sip yet again before you respond “hello. Are you gonna sit here the whole night?” you question with genuine curiosity, he only really danced a little when the Grease song was on but that’s about it and you aren’t oblivious to the other women checking him out.
“No i intend to dance i just need to be drunk enough for it first”
“I see, maybe then one of those lovely ladies will get a chance to dance with you” you say, observing one in particular who has been staring non stop.
“Please, i’d rather dance with you”
Your heart skips a beat and dare you say it, your vagina develops one. He’s such a sweet talker.
“You looked good out there, y’know” he motions towards the dance floor as if you didn’t already clock on to what he meant and you can’t deny the way your cheeks start to heat up as you thank him shyly.
That’s when he leans closer to your ear, his arm round the back of your chair again as he rasps “and that ass of yours in this dress, baby you got me so hard” his breath fans your neck as he returns to his normal sitting position but he doesn’t miss the way your breath hitches at the dirty comment. He knows all too well the effect he has on you and you know the effect you have on him.
In the past all it’s taken for him is for you to bite your lip and stare him down for him to get hard before. You’re his weakness.
Before you can even go to respond to him though, he clears his throat, tapping away on his phone as he stands up “anyway, if you’ll excuse me, nature calls” he slips his phone back into his pocket, walking away towards the toilets which just so happens to be right behind the DJ.
Your phone buzzes and you check to see a message from him ‘You coming?’ the text reads.
And that alone is enough for you to choke on your own saliva. You quickly sip your drink before standing up yourself and making your way over to the mens toilets. Thank God no one saw you.
“Johnny” you whisper yell until one of the cubicle doors opens, the bigger one at the end. He winks at you as he appears in the doorway and you strut over to him, allowing him to pull you in and lock the door. Your body is flush against his as he starts to kiss your collarbone first. If Johnny is anything it’s a man who loves to savour the moment. He hates quickies and loves to take his time with you.
You’re obviously not the first woman to fall victim to his touch but you’re the only one right now and you’re glad that he’s had experience, it’s clearly made him all the more sensational  in the bedroom.
“Oh” you throw your head back on a quiet moan, hoping not to be too loud despite music blasting outside making it impossible for anyone to hear you.
“Every time you dance, you drive me crazy. Shaking that perfect ass of yours in this dress, making me want you so bad” his lips hover over your sweet spot, his breath fanning it just like it did before.
You wrap your arms loosely round his neck as your back arches and his lips attack your neck like a man possessed, everything about this moment should feel wrong and yet it feels so right. The thought crosses your mind that everyone is out there dancing and most likely eating now all while Johnny is playing with your dress, lifting it up to reveal the new panties that you brought for today. Purple lace to match your dress.
“Oh baby” he groans, tugging on his bottom lip at the sight as his fingers wonder down and slip inside. His cold palm cups your sex making you shiver in surprise before he makes you forget all about it by spinning you around so that you’re pressed against the wall. Caged in by his muscular body as he towers over you.
He presses a chaste kiss to the back of your neck and heat starts to rise to your cheeks, you can’t contain the flustered feeling that fills you. He’s always had a way of being so dominant and stealing all control from you in an instant, since you’re so used to the roles being reversed in your life, he was more than into changing that. And to tell the truth, it’s one of the many reasons that you keep coming back. He pushes you out of your comfort zone in more ways than one.
His fingers play with the flimsy material of your new panties, grazing over your clit multiple times until you’re poking your ass out into his hand. “Someones keen, huh?” his low, raspy and taunting chuckle fills your ear sending shivers up and down your spine and causing goosebumps to form all over your hungry body.
“Please, Johnny” you beg pathetically, once again pushing back against his hand in hopes that he’ll get a move on and touch your properly. Which of course he does. You know he can never resist your charm. All the more reason why he’s slipping your panties to the side now so that his fingers can circle your arousal covered hole, almost dipping into your honey pot but holding back.
“Beg for it” he growls, taking your right earlobe between his teeth and biting down lightly “beg like the good girl i know you are” he continues and you gasp before breathing out a quick plea “p-please touch me Johnny, i need it” as your hands find purchase on the wall.
The feel of his knee spreading your legs apart gets you all the more excited for what’s the come and that’s when he gives you all that you’ve been craving, slipping two thick digits inside of you, coating them in your juices as they hit that spongy spot. He’s never had much trouble when it comes to finding your weak spots, he knows your body inside and out at this point and there’s not a time where you don’t cum when you’re with him.
“That good baby? My fingers getting that little cunt ready for my cock”
Your eyes roll to the back of your head in reaction to the pure filth leaving his not so innocent mouth and just as you go to let out a near enough pornographic style moan, throwing your head back too, the restroom door opens making you stop yourself. Footsteps make their way to one of the cubicles that just so happens to be next to the one your in.
Johnny then takes it upon himself to pull his drenched fingers out of you, reaching his hand in front of your face and shoving them into your mouth for you to suck on, using his free hand to undo his belt and now you know that you’re done for. You know exactly what he’s about to do. His cock rests at your entrance, staying there for a second before he slides in. Your walls welcome him in the best way, wrapping around his cock as he splits you open, stretching you beautifully yet again just like he does every time. The all too familiar feeling consumes you.
“You’d better be quiet if you don’t want to get caught” he mutters in hushed tones, switching it up so that his hand is fully covering your mouth, suffocating you as he drags his cock along your warm velvety walls deliciously. Obviously you don’t want to get caught but right now the anticipation of what could happen is enough to make you clamp down around him, earning a hiss.
A noise that obviously catches the attention of whomever is next door to your cubicle since the unsuspecting gentleman speaks up “are you okay in there, man?” shit. It’s Ben. You feel a wave of shame wash over you as Johnny picks his pace up slowly “yeah, everything's fine” he chirps, as if he has all the time in the world to converse when he’s buried balls deep inside of you.
“If you say so” Ben responds before flushing, washing his hands and then leaving the room. Now it’s just the two of you again. Johnny takes full advantage of the alone time by pushing you right up against the wall, your cheek squished against the tiles, his calloused hands splaying across your ass cheeks now and spreading them apart. Only so he can take a good look at the way he disappears into your tight chanel with ease.
“Doing so well baby, taking this cock like a fucking pro” he grunts, wrapping his hand around your neck and pulling your head back with the help of his other hand grabbing a fistful of your hair at the scalp but keeping your whole body pressed into the wall.
Sinful moans escape your mouth and at this point you’re way past the point of caring or trying to be quiet. Unless someone walks in then you’re going to let go and revel in the feel of him. The way his body traps you in makes your clit pulsate, you love being manhandled and you always have but only by him.
Anyone that takes even so much as a look at Johnny, they think ‘player’ and they’d be right but they’d also think he’d never be the type of man to be as filthy as he is in reality. Not only has he got a foul mouth on him but he’s kinky not to mention skilful in more areas than one. Dick and tongue game on point as well as those magical digits of his and the way they dance across your sex both delicately and brutally all at the same time.
You’re certainly not complaining though.
“Fuck, Johnny” your back arches even more so than it was before as you shakily cry out his name with the kind of want that only he can spur on “what is it baby?”
“Don’t stop, i’m so close” you whimper desperately.
His pace is now rendering on animalistic as he fucks you into the wall with such vigor, wanting nothing more than to feel you come undone all over his cock, something he’ll never grow tired of.
“Come on then baby, give it to me” he eggs you on, keeping one hand wrapped around your neck still, tightening as the seconds tick by whilst his other hand smacks down on your exposed ass cheek, making it wobble a little which earns him a satisfied hum.
The two of you go crazy with you pushing back to meet his thrusts and him spanking your ass, both of you hungry for that release.
All of a sudden though the blaring music coming from outside stops. Making you panic. Johnny on the other hand is so close to reaching his peak and he knows you are too, so he doesn’t bother to stop.
But you hear the faint laughs of the wedding guests before what sounds like the DJ addressing everyone. Fuck. This better not be the speeches. You had one planned and so did Johnny.
He continues to fuck into you, grunting, growling and panting in your ear, driving you closer and closer to that edge. You can feel the coil twisting and turning in your stomach, on the verge of snapping at any second and you don’t think you’ll be able to hold back the noises when it happens.
“Gonna make you cream all over this cock baby and best believe i’ll be filling this sweet cunt up with my cum”
You rest your hand over his around your neck as your whole body starts to shake. You clench around his cock some more and just as you can taste the orgasm, the addition of his fingers pressing down on your clit push you off the edge and your head drops back onto his shoulder. The music starts up again, allowing you to really enjoy this. Your mouth hangs open whilst you scrunch your eyes closed, seeing stars as you fall into a pit of ecstasy. You can feel your legs shaking and threatening to give way but luckily for you Johnny moves his hands to your waist, wrapping around you so he can hold you up whilst he comes close to reaching his own end.
“Fuckkkkk, squeezing me so good baby”
You do it again for good measure and sure enough, he twitches inside of you, his hot cum painting your walls just like he said and a fucked out spent smile forms on your face making him laugh when he sees.
He rides the two of you through your highs before his thrusts come to a halt and he slowly pulls out. He then grabs some tissues, dropping to his knees and pressing yet another chaste kiss to your clit this time before cleaning you up. He can see that you’re struggling to stand so the second he’s done he rises to his feet, pulling you flush against him and then proceeding to push you up against the wall.
The two of you stare deep into each others eyes for a couple seconds, both of your chests rising and falling as you try to normalise your breathing. That was certainly an adventurous, dangerous and thrilling experience, one that you won’t be rushing to partake in again anytime soon. But it was amazing to say the least. The way he’s looking at you right now makes you want to throw caution to the wind and kiss him. So you do. You crash your lips to his, wrapping your arms loosely around his neck and as expected, he kisses back. His grip tightens on your hips, pulling you even closer if that’s even possible.
“What was that for?” he asks as you come up for air and you shrug, not even sure of what it was yourself. But all you know is you like him and this isn’t just some fling to you, some form of messing around until the two of you get bored. There is a genuine connection there, one that you can’t wait to explore some more.
“I don’t even know” you giggle, pecking his lips again.
Silence falls upon the two of you before he finally blurts out “go out with me” as if he’s telling you rather than asking.
“What?” you furrow your brows in confusion.
“Go out with me, on a date”
“I thought Johnny Storm didn’t do dates” you quip back, raising your brows with a smirk to match “i don’t but i’d like to try if it’s with you” and that alone warms your heart. The same heart that’s been crushed and broken so many times before and it’s almost like he’s mending it. Not that you’re complaining.
You take no longer than a second to think before you’re agreeing and kissing him some more. That’s when the music stops and you both look at each other.
He quickly zips up his pants, doing his belt up again and shrugging his jacket back on before turning back to you. With you both now looking decent again, you get him to check your makeup, he wipes the stray bits of mascara that smudged before kissing your forehead.
He lets you leave first whilst he waits an appropriate 2 minutes before he heads out too. No one suspected a thing and now it’s time for the speeches.
This is definitely going to be a wedding to remember...

Pairing: Professor Erwin x Fem! Reader, Sasha x Connie
Word Count: 4K
Part 2
“Have you ever seen a man that good-looking?” You hummed at Sasha’s comment, not even bothering to look up from your screen to see who she was referring to. “I mean, wow! He’s like a greek god or something.”
Connie rolled his eyes in amusement at his girl’s rambles. “He does have nice eyebrows,” he joined in.
She whipped her head towards Connie with a dumbfounded smile. “Right?! He could probably cut someone with those cheekbones.”
With a sigh, you looked up from your laptop, finally indulging the two. “Who’s the so-called Greek god,” you asked in an unamused tone. Your eyes followed Sasha’s finger through the fairly empty coffee shop until they landed on a man sitting alone by the window.
Sasha was right, which didn’t often happen unless it involved food. He was intimidatingly perfect, chiseled from his face to his body. The sunlight hung around him like a cloak, providing an angelic glow that shadowed his strong cheekbones and jawline. He leaned casually in the chair, his large frame towering over the plastic structure as his arm rested on the table. His hand loosely held onto the cup in front of him, ever ready to take another sip. His other hand held a book in the air. The book looked small in his hands like it was merely a phone.
Your breath hitched in your throat as he glanced up from his book, giving you a perfect view of his face. You couldn’t believe your eyes. More accurately, you couldn’t believe the cerulean eyes and incredibly thick eyebrows you saw. “You’re shitting me,” you breathed in disbelief. Sasha and Connie turned to face you with curious expressions. You bit back a girlish smile and shook your head, “it’s nothing.” You shrugged off their unconvinced looks and quickly added, “I just, uh, I used to have him as a teacher.”
Sasha’s eyes practically bulged out of her head at your words, “you’re telling me you had that-” she gestured to the man across the room, “- for a teacher, and I’m just now hearing about this?! How’d you even focus? What’d he teach? Was he always this good-looking? Does he still teach?” Connie opened his mouth to interject, but Sasha cut him off by placing her finger on his lips. “No, I’m going to Mystery inc. this and get to the bottom of this. She’s been withholding valuable information!”
You let out a chuckle and ducked your head in embarrassment. “It’s not that big of a deal,” you trailed off. “It was years ago. He probably doesn’t even remember me.” You tried to sound as carefree as possible despite the butterflies at the thought.
“That’s not what I-” Sasha quickly shut her mouth as another voice joined the conversation.
“I thought it was you,” a smooth husky voice cut in. You looked up to see the greek god smiling gently at you. His thick eyebrows knitted together nervously when you didn’t reply after a moment. “Y/n, right?”
Your cheek warmed as your name fell from his lips. It fell from his lips so naturally like it belonged there, filling you with an indescribable warmth. “Mr. Smith,” you breathed as a giddy smile formed on your lips. “It’s been a while.” You wet your lips as you not so subtly looked him up and down. He was a lot more muscular now than he was a few years ago. He had practically doubled in size since you last saw him. The rolled-up sleeves of his off-white button-up shirt clung to his arms desperately. A few buttons were left open, allowing you to catch a glimpse of his collarbone.
Sasha was right. He was nothing short of a greek god. He was enough to make statues envious.
The worry in Erwin’s face dissipated into a dreamy grin, “far too long.” You looked exactly like he remembered you, gorgeous. He cleared his throat as he looked down at the book in his hand. “I was passing by and saw you,” his icy blue eyes met yours. “I was going to ask if you would like to catch up, but I see you’re busy.”
“She’d love to,” Connie quickly answered for you, nudging Sasha under the table.
“Yeah, don’t worry about us,” Sasha stammered as she rose from her seat. “We had things planned anyway.”
“Right,” you drawled, turning your attention towards the couple that was preparing to leave.
“Yeah, so we’ll see ya later,” Connie hurriedly responded. His words spilled out like water from a broken dam as he gathered your stuff for you. You opened your mouth to protest, but you knew anything you said would only fall on deaf ears. Connie stood up and walked off hand and hand with Sasha.
You could hear their mischievous giggles until they were finally out of sight. You shook your head with a chuckle before looking back up at Erwin. “Well, Mr. Smith, it looks like you’re in luck. My schedule just so happened to free up.” You shrugged, flashing him a gentle smile, “what a coincidence.”
“Looks like it was meant for us to catch up,” Erwin remarked with a nervous chuckle. He offered his hand to you, helping you out of your seat. He tucked his book under his arm, freeing his other hand so he could grab your bag for you before handing it to you.
A bashful smile graced your lips at his actions as you mumbled a quiet ‘thank you.’ You had always pictured him as quite a gentleman, but his chivalrous acts melted your heart. You walked by his side quietly until you reached a nearby park. Erwin led you under a tree, stopping you so he could lay his jacket on the ground for you to sit on.
“Hope you’re not trying to impress me, Mr. Smith,” you giggled, sitting down on his suit jacket. Your hands absentmindedly busied themselves, smoothing out the wrinkles in his coat.
“Just doing what feels right.” He chortled as he sat beside you. “And it’s just Erwin.”
“Alright, just Erwin,” you joked in a silky voice.
He laughed his first real laugh of the day, the sound coming from deep with his stomach. “Still as witty as ever.” His ocean eyes never left your face once, too stunned to look anywhere else.
He could still remember the first time he laid eyes on you. You took his breath away from the very beginning. Every part of you intrigued him, from your looks to your brain. The way the sun shined off your melanin skin made you look like nothing short of a goddess in his eyes. The golden highlight was almost too much for him to take. There was a glow about you that he couldn’t find anywhere else no matter how hard he looked. It didn’t matter if you were outside or under the dead fluorescent lights of the classroom, you were a star, demanding attention without ever really trying.
“Wow,” he breathed quietly after a moment. “You haven’t changed a bit.”
You giggled shyly and rolled your eyes. “Wish I could say the same about you. You look like you could give Chris Evans a run for his money.” You enjoyed the small blush spreading across his cheeks. “I’m serious. The Mr. Smith- er, Erwin I knew wasn’t as,” you trailed off, growing too embarrassed to continue. You looked down at your pants instead, picking at the threads.
Erwin was thankful you stopped yourself from continuing. He didn’t think his cheeks could handle any more compliments from you. Had you continued, he probably would’ve ended up looking like a tomato. “Thank you.” He scratched the back of his neck embarrassedly.
You fought back a cheeky smile as you noticed him timidly look away. Despite his outer appearance, he was a big softie. It was like being next to the big friendly giant. “So, what do you do for a living nowadays? You still a teacher?”
“I am actually, they made me one of the official creative writing professors. It doesn’t leave much free time for writing anymore, but I love it nonetheless.” He smiled wistfully as he watched the people walk past. A few quiet moments passed before he brought his attention back to you. “Y’know, I’ve seen a lot of bright students come and go, but none have been quite as amusing as you.” Erwin bit the inside of his cheek, hoping he wasn’t being too forward.
You shrugged off his comment, oblivious to their hinting undertone, “we were a good class and your first class. Of course, we’re going to leave an impression on you.”
He hummed thoughtfully in reply as if that wasn’t what he was getting at. “What about you? What’d you end up doing?”
“I guess you can say I took after my favorite teacher and became a writer.” You glanced at him through the corner of your eye, gauging his reaction.
“I was your favorite teacher?” Erwin couldn’t help the bashful smile that forced its way onto his face.
“Wow,” you dragged out dramatically with a teasing smile. You met Erwin’s steady gaze and playfully pushed his arm. It took every ounce of self-control not to leave your hand resting on his bicep. You pushed the thought aside, choosing to continue to tease him instead. “Someone’s cocky! You aren’t the only teacher I had who wrote.”
“Then who, if I may ask, was it?”
“Just some teacher, you probably wouldn’t know them. Y’know big campus and all.” You shrugged nonchalantly.
“Right,” Erwin drawled out with an amused smile. “Well, just in case you ever need some help or a writing buddy-,” he fished around in his pockets before pulling his phone out, “-maybe I should give you my number.” His eyes flashed down to his phone. “Just assuming your favorite professor is busy or anything.”
You chewed on your lip, fighting back a playful smile. “Of course, there’s no such thing as too many connections.” Erwin hummed in response, handing you his phone. Your breath caught in your throat as his fingers gently brushed against yours.
“Ah,” you exclaimed once you caught sight of the time, “crap! I told him I told Eren I wouldn’t be late again.” You groaned, handing back the phone as you scrambled to your feet. “I’m sorry I have to go,” you sent Erwin an apologetic smile. “It was really nice catching up. We should do it again sometime! Ugh, hopefully, Armin is there to make sure  he doesn’t kill me.”
Erwin opened his mouth to remind you about the phone but decided against it at the last minute. “Be safe,” he called out to you as you ran off. He wasn’t even sure you had heard him, probably too caught up in rushing to hear clearly. His eyes followed your frame until it disappeared in the crowded streets. A disappointed sigh fell from his lips. Letting you leave the second time wasn’t any easier than the first. He thought maybe this time would be different. This time he would have the courage to ask you to stay without any restrictions.
He chuckled at himself as he stood up and gathered his things. Here he was pitying himself over the fact that you had left again. Yet, fate had brought you together twice already. If he had the chance to see you again, he promised himself that he would let you walk away so easily. After all, they say third times the charm.
***
“What is it,” Levi asked, earning a quiet hum from Erwin. He took a sip of tea before continuing. “You keep scanning the room like you’re looking for someone,” he noted. “You’ve barely paid attention to any conversation. Plus,” Levi set his cup down before leaning his chin on his hand, “you made us drive thirty minutes to go to a coffee shop even though you have one walking distance from your house. So, what’s so special about this place?” He leaned back in his chair, resting his elbow on the back of it. “Cause apparently, it’s not the coffee.”
Erwin looked down at his still full cup of coffee, which was now lukewarm at best. He chuckled embarrassedly, hoping the sudden warmth he was experiencing was just his imagination. His order was long forgotten, his mind too preoccupied with thoughts of you. “Guess I’ve been caught,” he smiled embarrassedly.
“You’re kidding right,” Sasha yelled at you as you walked through the door. “You left Mr. Perfect without giving him your number.  To go be with Eren?” She looked to Connie with a baffled expression for support. “Am I the only one who sees how stupid that was?”
“Relax already,” you sighed. You had already gotten this speech before over text. You got it repeatedly, actually, at least once every day for the past week. “I know. I wasn’t thinking-.”
“Oh, I know,” she cut you off. “That’s like you having a perfectly juicy steak handed to you, just for you to reject it for a cold chicken nugget.”
“Eren is cute in his own way,” you tried to defend him only to be completely ignored.
“Well, Armin is more like a steak too, just a little one,” Connie chimed in as he read the menu.
“True. Wait, no, that’s not the point.” She stopped mid-rant to tell the cashier her order. “The point is she had-.”
“Yeah, yeah, I know.” You paused to put in your order before following Sasha to your usual table. “I left Erwin to go meet up with Eren, who was fucking late anyways.”
“Yeah, sure, no worries. No need to pitch in or offer; I got it,” Connie grumbled as he paid. He trailed behind you and Sasha, plopping down in his usual spot with a childish huff.
“Thank you, lovebug,” Sasha cooed, pecking his cheek. “You’re the best, unlike some people.” She glared playfully at you from the corner of her eye.
You sighed melodramatically, practically rolling your eyes into the back of your head. “How long are you going to hold this over me?”
“She’ll think about the answer to that while you go get our drinks,” Connie answered for her with a devilish smirk.
“Wow,” you drawled with a feigned hurt expression, “you too, Connie?” You shook your head disappointedly, “can’t trust no one.” You begrudgingly walked over to the counter where three drinks sat. You nearly dropped the cup in your hands as a familiar voice spoke up behind you.
“Mind if I give you a hand?”
“Erwin,” you gasp, jumping harder than you’d like. The scalding tea on your skin left little time for you to feel embarrassed. “Ah,” you hissed under your breath as you quickly placed the cup back on the counter. “Fuck.”
“Apologies,” Erwin quickly stepped in beside you, “I didn’t mean to scare you.” Without thinking, he took your hand into his own, cradling it like you were made of glass. His warm hands were nothing in comparison to the rising heat in your cheeks as he gently wiped your hand with a napkin. “I just wanted to say ‘hi,’” he continued in a low bashful voice.
You couldn’t help the soft giggles that tumbled from your lips. There he was, being a big friendly giant again. You looked up at him for the first time, watching the way his brows furrowed with concern. “Well, I’m glad you did.” You gave his hand a grateful squeeze, “wasn’t sure if I’d get to see you again. I definitely need all the help I can get with my new project.”
“I- uh, well,” he stumbled over his words, quickly retracting his hand from yours. He carefully grabbed all three cups. “Where to?” He felt childish getting this flustered over just being around you. The small smile on your face was enough to send his heart into overtime.
You plucked your cup from his hand, gingerly taking a sip. With a nod, you led him to your table.
“Took you long en-ah!” Sasha’s eyes bulged out of her head as her eyes landed on the towering figure behind you. “What the hell,” she exclaimed, causing a few curious glances to be cast in her direction. “I- you,” she focused her gaze on you, “how’d you manage to find the greek god again?”
Your eyebrows shot up more in embarrassment than in surprise. Sasha was never once for subtleties, always the most outspoken one of the group. You set your cup down with a sigh. “I’m sorry about her,” you turned to him with an apologetic. “Erwin meet Sasha and Connie-,” you took their cups from his hands and set them on the table, “-Sasha and Connie meet Erwin.”
Connie nodded in acknowledgment, “feel free to sit with us.” You could tell he was trying to play it cool for your sake. Truth be told, Sasha had him just as invested in the man as she was. It probably wasn’t the healthiest, but it damn sure is fun. Who needed reality tv when they could just watch you?
Erwin could feel your hopefully expectant gaze focus on him, yet his eyes remained trained on Connie. Probably to keep him from turning any redder. He was already on the verge of becoming a tomato as it is. “I actually came here with a friend.”
“Invite him over,” Sasha blurted out. She ignored the way you momentarily glared daggers at her for pushing the subject. “The more, the merrier.”
They both looked like they had turned to putty as Erwin chuckled quietly. If you didn’t know any better you would’ve thought they were the ones with a crush on him. Not that you had a crush on him. You just liked admiring the man and being around him. “Guys-.”
“So this is why you’ve been dragging me here every day,” a cold, unfamiliar voice cut in. His voice alone was enough to send chills down your spine. So much so that you nearly missed that he said Erwin was coming here every day. Even Sasha and Connie straightened up under his presence. “Interesting. Mind if I take a seat?”
You turned to the man, catching his piercing eyes finish looking you up and down. He was shorter and leaner than Erwin, but something about his presence made him seem like the more intimidating of the two. “Y-yeah, sure.” You paused for a while, allowing his words to register in your mind.
“Everyone, meet Levi,” Erwin broke the silence as he took a seat next to you. “Levi, meet Sasha, Connie, and Y/n.”
“So you’ve been coming here every day,” you blurted out, getting the attention of everyone. You waited for an answer but only received a bashful smile. Your mind was moving a mile a minute. You were sure you were making a bigger deal of this than necessary.
“Starting to think he doesn’t come here for the drinks,” Levi said smugly, answering for Erwin. “Or maybe I’m just imagining things,” he mumbled into his cup.
You took a seat between Levi and Erwin, your eyes never leaving his frame.
“Y’know, I like this place a lot,” Sasha chimed in, barely able to hide her cheeky smile. “But I don’t think the scenery is great enough to make me come here every day.”
“I’ve definitely had better coffee,” Connie shrugged.
“Tea is nothing to brag about either,” Levi agreed despite taking another sip from his cup.
You could feel the embarrassment radiating off of Erwin. With every new playfully dig, it seemed harder to get him to meet your gaze. His ocean eyes landed everywhere but on you.
“That’s an interesting-looking napkin, huh,” you asked teasingly in a voice only he could hear. He glanced at you through the corner of his eye, a smirk tugging on the corner of his lips.
“Well, the prices are nice, though,” Sasha continued to tease slyly. You glanced over at Sasha with an exasperated glare, which she shrugged off. “So, Levi- was it- how do you know Erwin?”
“You’re loving this aren’t you,” Erwin groaned, finally bringing his eyes up to meet your own. He was enjoying every minute of looking at your playful smile, basking in the welcoming warmth. He shook his head with a chuckle, already knowing your answer from the mischievous glint in your eyes.
“Oh, every minute,” you giggled as you pointed a finger at his rosy cheeks. “Between you being a tomato and finding out Erwin the Greek god Smith came here looking for me-.”
“Cocky much?” Erwin flashed a dashing smile, “who said I was looking for you?”
You nodded, holding back a laugh. “Oh, right, of course. How silly of me.” You took your phone out with a shrug, “guess there’s no point in asking for your number then.” Erwin opened his mouth as if he was about to protest but quickly closed it.
“Hey,” Sasha interjected with a huff. “What’s the fun in making fun of you two if y’all just go into your own little la-la lands.”
“We weren’t,” you stammered before getting cut off by Connie.
“Were. We had a whole conversation, and you two didn’t even notice,” he stated matter of factly with a shrug before his mischievous grin returned to his lips. “At least exchange phone numbers this time.”
You stared at him wide-eyed, far too embarrassed to glare or come up with a retort. Your mouth opened and closed a few times like a gasping fish before you decided to keep your mouth closed with a huff. Just as you were about to change the subject, you noticed Erwin reach for your phone lying on the table.
“We were actually just getting to that,” Erwin replied with a cocky yet teasing grin. It was like someone flipped a switch on him. He was no longer this huge blushy and shy giant next to you. He exuded confidence but never crossed over into being cocky or egotistical. He took your phone in his hand and handed it to you so you could unlock it. “Y’know before we were interrupted from our ‘la la land’ and all.”
Sasha looked to you with a surprised expression as if asking for confirmation. You weren’t sure which was more shocking to her, that you were actually about to exchange numbers or that Erwin was finally retaliating. You mimicked Connie’s nonchalant shrug from a few moments ago as you unlocked your phone for Erwin.
Everyone seemed to be on the edge of their seats as Erwin typed in his contact information. Even Levi was visibly intrigued, though he tried to hide under his regular hardened and uninterested expression. Erwin didn’t notice anyone but you, however. All he could feel was your warmth beside him and your gaze locked on his hands. Having your undivided attention made him want to type even slower.
“Geez, what are you, a turtle? Actually, I think I’ve seen turtles move faster,” you teased with a nervous chuckle. The sudden quiet atmosphere at the table was too much. You felt the need to say something. Was that the best? Probably not.
Erwin laughed a throaty laugh, “someone seems eager.” His eyes flitted up to yours, “guess I shouldn’t be surprised. You were the same way in class. That’s probably why you were one of my favorites. But I feel the need to remind you,” he handed you your phone, “sometimes taking things slow is what makes it fun.”
The way he held your gaze sent your mind into a drunken-like daze. He was intoxicating in every way, completely taking over your mind until all you could think of was you and him. “Dealing with all these writing deadlines might’ve made me forget that.” You leaned closer, resting your chin in your palm. “Maybe I need a demonstration to help jog my memory.”
Erwin looked at you with a lopsided smirk. His eyes trailed down your face, landing on your lips longer than he intended. Every ounce of him wanted to take you up on the suggestion, but he wasn’t sure if you were being serious or just teasing.
“There you two go again,” Levi interrupted. You quickly sat back in your chair, creating room between you and Erwin. You could faintly make out a small chuckle from Levi. “If you two wanted to be alone, all you had to do was ask.”
“N-no,” you quickly stammered. “It’s not like that.” You couldn’t help the heat rising to your cheeks. “It’s just-,” you glanced at Erwin with a small smile, “-it’s nice seeing one of my favorite teachers again.”
“I sure hope your classroom wasn’t filled with as much sexual tension,” Sasha murmured.
Erwin raised an eyebrow in confusion. His mouth opened as if he was going to say something, but closed into a tight line.
“On that note, I should get going.” You quickly rose from your seat, avoiding making eye contact with Erwin. “Got another meeting with Jeager-bomb.” Sasha practically rolled her eyes into the back of her head but kept her mouth shut. At least you got his number before running off again. “Bye, guys! Oh, and it was nice meeting you, Levi.” You finally let your fall on Erwin, who had a somewhat expectant look on his face. “I’ll call you the next time I need help,” you couldn’t fight the girlish smile tugging on your lips.
“I look forward to it.”

Album & EP Recommendations
My word, the music world has well and truly spoiled us this week!
The past seven days has seen a colossal avalanche of new releases, so much so I’ve barely had chance to keep up with it all. Although this is not the full list of everything from the past seven days, here are the 16 (yes, 16!) new releases I’ve enjoyed the most this week.
As there is so much to get through the rundowns are (mostly) a bit shorter than normal and there is no single Album of the Week, instead I simply recommend checking out whichever album or track sounds most appealing depending on your preferred taste.
So without further ado then, here’s what’s good:
Californian Soil by London Grammar
It’s been four years since the release of London Grammar’s last record Truth Is A Beautiful Thing - an album that I enjoyed, but I’ll admit also left me feeling somewhat underwhelmed coming off the back of their incredible breakout debut, If You Wait. As it turns out, the band themselves were also having a tough time around that period, with front woman Hannah Reid in particular battling relentless industry sexism, as well as the persistent physical pain caused by her fibromyalgia condition. With this being the case, it is amazing that the young indie-pop trio have made it to their third album at all, let alone delivering what is their best work to date.
Opening on a grand, string-drenched Intro, the record soon morphs into the sun-soaked guitars and soaring orchestration of the album’s glorious title track. It marks an early highlight as Reid catches the audience up with the tribulations of the last few years – “I left my soul on Californian soil.” From there the album doesn’t really let up as the band move through a series of career-defining tracks – the gorgeous contemporary groove of Missing, the dance-influenced How Does It Feel, the chilled-out ambience of the dreamy Baby, It’s You and the sublime, stripped-back closer America.
However, the album’s strongest moment comes when Reid confronts music industry sexism head on with defiant anthem Lord It’s A Feeling. Beginning with some twinkly xylophone, before evolving into an atmospheric synth-laced backdrop where Reid pulls no punches:
“I saw the way you made her feel, like she should be somebody else,
I know you think the stars align for you and not for her as well,
I undеrstand, I can admit that I have felt those things mysеlf”
The cutting lyrics against some blinding quiet rave instrumentation leaves quite the impression, as does this sterling record in general. After a slight misstep, London Grammar have well and truly rediscovered themselves and they have honestly never sounded better – a truly incredible album.
If You Could Have It All Again by Low Island
Oxford electo-pop outfit Low Island are another band that have defied expectations to get to this point. This, their debut album, was not recorded in a professional music studio – in fact, the vocals were recorded in a bedroom cupboard of all places. The band themselves don’t even have a manager or a record label. In every sense of the word, they are a truly independent band. For a self-financed, self-produced effort, If You Could Have It All Again is a quite remarkable first outing.
From melodic, uplifting opener Hey Man, the record quickly jumps into spoken word electro punk banger What Do You Stand For, featuring acid-drenched synths and a dancefloor-ready groove. Fans of FIFA 21 will recall Don’t Let the Light In, with the glitchy pulse of recent single Who’s Having the Greatest Time also standing out. That said, it’s the smooth, infectious sway of I Do It For You that still pulls me in the most.
Having followed the band since their early EPs, I’ve been rooting for Low Island for a while now and this is one debut album I was highly anticipating this year. Safe to say, my expectations have been met – this is a fantastic, accomplished record, which leaves me eager to see where they go next.
The Greatest Mistake Of My Life by Holding Absence
There was a time when the difficult second album used to be a thing, but listening to the sophomore effort from Welsh rock band Holding Absence this week, I’m really not sure that exists anymore. After a dramatic and impressive self-titled debut two years ago, the band have wasted little time taking things up a notch, with this new album cinematic and masterfully produced from beginning to end.
From standout singalong anthems like Afterlife and In Circles, to the album’s epic seven-minute penultimate track Mourning Song, The Greatest Mistake of My Life shows a band pushing themselves and driving forward with ambition at every opportunity. In a year packed with outstanding rock and metal albums already, this is most definitely another one you can add onto that list. Soaring, impressive and demanding of repeat listens.
We Forgot We Were Dreaming by Saint Raymond
It’s been six long years since Nottingham-born singer-songwriter Callum Burrows, AKA Saint Raymond, released his debut album. However it seems the time away has been well spent as this long-awaited follow-up finds Burrows in fine form, with this album packed to the brim with catchy, glossily produced indie-pop anthems.
From the brilliant title track that opens the record, to the bouncy riffs of Right Way Round, Talk and Solid Gold, to more subdued and heartfelt moments like Only You, this album will have you smiling, singing your heart out and dancing your troubles away.
Flu Game by AJ Tracey
AJ Tracey may have only been three years old when Michael Jordan was winning NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls, but that hasn’t stopped him making a record influenced by the legendary icon and his famous 1997 Flu Game. Like many others including myself, grime superstar AJ Tracey spent lockdown watching the brilliant The Last Dance documentary, and this record weirdly works as a fantastic unofficial companion, but also just a great summer rap record.
McCartney III Imagined by Paul McCartney
Even if like me you completely missed Sir Paul McCartney’s 2020 album McCartney III, it’s well worth checking out this reimagining, where he has called on the help of some of his famous musician pals. This is a real who’s who line up of guest features including Beck, Khurangbin, St. Vincent, Blood Orange, Phoebe Bridgers, Damon Albarn, Josh Homme, Anderson .Paak and more, making for quite a fascinating mix of sounds and styles.
Moratorium (Broadcasts from The Interruption) by Enter Shikari
And finally on the albums front this week, genre-benders Enter Shikari have released a brilliant compilation of all their lockdown live performances, headlined by an incredible string-tinged acoustic version of The Dreamer’s Hotel and a beautifully stripped-back “At Home” rendition of Live Outside.
Tracks of the Week
Introvert by Little Simz
Wow, wow and wow again. Still fairly fresh off the back of her masterful, Mercury Prize nominated third album Grey Area, this week British rapper Little Simz released the first taste of her next record in the form of this epic and triumphant opening track. At six minutes in length, this majestic and operatic political anthem aims to grab the listener by the collar and shake them awake. Without a doubt, one of the best songs of the year so far, the powerful video for which you can view above.
Smile by Wolf Alice
The second taste of their forthcoming album Blue Weekend, Smile continues Wolf Alice’s pattern for alternating Loud/Soft releases, with this one featuring buzzy guitars, punky vocals and a hypnotic chorus melody.
Beautiful Beaches by James
Although written off the back of the California wildfires that impacted front man Tim Booth’s local community, the lyrics on the band’s latest anthem purposefully offer a dual meaning, giving hope to those dreaming of a post-lockdown getaway and fresh start.
He Said She Said by CHVRCHES
The Scottish trio made their much-anticipated return this week, with Lauren Mayberry also sharing her experiences of sexism on this arena-ready synth-pop banger.
Matty Healy by Georgia Twinn
Georgia Twinn delivers an infectiously catchy break-up anthem, inspired by an ex-boyfriend, who’s most interesting feature was supposedly looking like the 1975 frontman.
Kill It by Vukovi
Underground Scottish rock outfit Vukovi’s new single is so good, they even managed to get KILL IT trending over the weekend of its release. Masterfully produced with big bold riffs and trancey synths, this one just sounds huge.
Can’t Carry On by Gruff Rhys
The latest solo single from the former Super Furry Animals frontman is a stunning, super-melodic tune with an instant chorus you’ll be singing before the track has even finished its first play.
Ceremony by Deftones
One of the highlights off their last album Ohms, the nu-metal rockers have now delivered a cinematic new video directed by horror legend Leigh Whannell. Check it out!
Chasing Birds by Foo Fighters
And finally this week, Dave Grohl and company released a trippy new animated video for this Medicine At Midnight cut to help celebrate 420 in their own unique way. Again, well worth a watch!

Cinder-Vil-a: A short story
♢ Sumi B exited the classroom with a weary sigh, lifting a hand to her head and holding it as she thought of her troubles. It was her turn to watch over the club so that no one they didn't want around came and trashed it. It may or may not also be to hide it from some of the people they write about. Groaning once more, she turned to head down the corridor, not focused on where she went. Even though her eyes were cast to the floor, she noticed Vil even before the collision, and only didn't dodge because she thought he would. However, today, this was not the case. Instead of his normally impeccable sense of self awareness, it seemed that the dorm leader had been distracted by something, his eyebrows knit tensely together even after they both noticed they'd fallen. Vil got up first, offering a hand that was politely declined by Sumi B. After humbling her with an apology, he soon set off again, clearly headed to deal with the task worrying him, leaving behind something on the floor. Sumi B picked it up and smiled, laughing a little as she examined the compact mirror.
"Wow, you'd have thought he was Cinderella running from his prince to have forgotten this by running in such a hurry..."
Turning back, she called him with a smirk.
"Hey~ Lampa alu~! You dropped something."
Later, in the clubroom, oceanic currents flew over her head as she sat at the alcove's desk. Staring down at a blank piece of paper as blue lights swam all around it, she tapped the pen to her lips in thought.
"Cinderella huh…"
Smiling, she began to write a small story springing from the fertile ground of her imagination. ♢
“Rise.”
Soft supple lips part in a humbled smile, his sparkling lashes rising to show the gleaming grin within his amethyst irises. Nodding softly with grace, he stands to face you, the glimmering makeup over his eyes colouring his smile with glittering rainbows. It’s stunning to view and you hold your breath, taking in his elegant beauty. Dressed in a deep blue dress adorned with golden roses and split in two at the chest, he smooths it out, fingertips delicately clinging to the edges where they clutched it for his curtsy. Champagne gold hair that faded into a light lavender was tied up in a coiled bun, showing off the light blue earrings hanging from his ears, the almost diamond hearts shining like he’d plucked droplets of water from a river and hung its tears on his ears. The mystical aura that seemed to surround him led you to believe that might be true…
“Yes, my prince?”
His voice is light and alluring, you swallow as he addresses you, taking in a breath to compose yourself. You must not lose your image in front of all the people attending the ball, all the eyes cast indirectly at your way, through mirrors and whispers. They all watch you, scouring for a weakness - an opportunity. But instead of dismissing him, you can’t help but ask.
“What is your name?”
Calm in manner, he holds a hand to his heart and tilts his head slightly to the side, delight dancing in his eyes.
“My name… is Vil.”
Curious, you mirror his tilted head, holding a hand to your chin.
“Is that your full name?”
“My prince, my name is all I have. If you will not accept it for what it is, what else do I say?”
Smirking with a subtle flair of pride at your confusion, he bows his head to you as you reply.
“You avoided the question. Will you not answer to your prince?”
“I do and I answer only the truth.”
With that and flourished twirl, you are left staring at his back receding into the crowd, catching just the mere glimpse of his head turning back to gaze at you for just an instant - before your view is blocked by another person bowing at your heel.
Swilling from side to side, your reflection seems dulled in the drink you hold, the long glass cool against your fingers. All its shiny surface seemed to do was reflect the leering eyes glancing at you from every side as you walk along the table, taking care not to stumble in your poise as you do. The golden drink in your hands - apple juice? or was it alcohol? you can’t recall what was ordered for the party, you’d grabbed something random after all - served little as a suitable distraction from your nerves. Greetings sometimes bombard you and you check your reflection is smiling before looking up to reply, keeping your performance as prince as perfect as possible. Just as you settle to brood within a corner, a flashing golden rose decorating blue dashes by your sight. Instantly, you snap your attention to it, watching it disappear behind a corner and chasing after it. A name, short and sweet when spoken by his lips, flashes across your mind. It stands doubtful but you place your hope in it anyway, heat rushing to your cheeks. The warmth of your face is met by the cool breeze of air as you leave through the back door, still searching for that snatch of blue. Smiling with a laugh, he stands before you at the bottom of the steps that lead to the garden, holding his hands behind his back as he looks up at you. Vil presses a decorated nail against the edge of his lips, grinning. You try not to let your eyes focus on those lips as they move, teasingly calling out.
“Catch me if you can~”
His laugh is infectious, rendering you sick in its terribly fast spread as you start to smile, rushing forward down the steps. Every step forward you take, he skips back, before he begins to run away in the opposite direction. Unable to and not intending to do anything else, you follow him delightedly.
Casting moonlit shadows and sparkling spotlights down on you two, both of your performances shed, stripping you of your duties as you shrug the burdens off your shoulders and throw your heads back. And laugh into the night. Vil’s voice is musical to your ears, alighting your face aflame every time he sings to you from behind a bush, darting away from your grasp.
“My prince~!”
Running as fast as you’re able, you dash after his cooing words, letting your chuckles run free. Eventually, you sneak up on him, stealthily sidling up behind him, asking carefully beforehand.
“May I hold you in my arms?”
Stiffening, he pauses before nodding coolly. Though he isn’t turned to you, you nod before slipping your arms around his waist. He smells of coal and roses, fire burnt petals and shadows overcast flowers.
“Then...I’ve caught you.”
Almost breathlessly, you whisper, knowing he’ll hear. Vil’s face pinkens to a crimson, flushing at your touch as he pulls out of your embrace. Holding the back of his hand to his mouth, he looks away from you and gently releases your arms from around him.
“...Indeed. Ah, I apologise, I lost my composure. I shouldn’t have teased you like that, you’re the prince after all and I’m...”
Hearing his voice sends your heart aflutter but hearing its notes strike a sadder tone fills your heart with sadness as well. Consolingly, you shake your head, smiling.
“No, it was the most fun I’ve ever had in such a while.”
Your words seem to uplift him, as his crystalline eyes seem to shine a little brighter, their blazing purple gazing deep into yours. Smirking, he crosses a finger to his lips once more, tilting his head to his right.
“Well, I suppose your beautiful eyes must be quite the appraiser since a beautiful jewel like myself has caught your attention so easily.”
The moon casts light from behind his head, brilliantly shining as if he was glowing in the night. Upon his head, there almost seemed to be a crown of starlight, a halo of their shine surrounding his golden hair. Melting at the sight of his smile, you hesitate before reaching out to catch his hand, bowing with perfect posture as you plant a gentle kiss across the back of his palm.
“Then, may I ask for this beautiful gem to join me for a dance?”
Flushing a little, he nods wordlessly and you smile, feeling heat rise to your cheeks once more.
The waltz is slow and sweet as you both dance to the tune of melodic breezes, the air sweetened in fragrance by the aroma of the flower bed surrounding you and Vil’s own scent. His eyes sparkle as brightly as his earrings, but they hold an added edge of fondness that seems to deepen everytime he looks at you. There is a precious silence that hangs around both of you, soft in its touch as caresses your faces. Here, in the comforting emptiness of the garden, you’re both free from the whispers that would follow you. You take a step to the side, in time with the silent music, and feel him step closer. Another step and your heart begins to beat faster. His lips draw closer to yours as you stop dancing, standing still in each other's arms. Gently holding your chin, he pulls you closer and then steals your heart with a kiss, the gap between the two of you closing within a heartbeat. He holds the kiss for a dreamlike moment, drawing it out, as you close your eyes and enjoy the feeling of his lips against yours. A loud bell rings, signalling midnight, causing Vil to gasp. You barely get to open them after he hastily breaks it in a panic since he covers your eyes with his hands. Shaking, he grimaces.
“I’m sorry, my prince. This jewel cannot stay.”
Shoving you to the side, he rushes off, his fluttering marine skirts disappearing to the image of rags.
All that you have left, to remind you that this dreamy mystery beauty existed, is a golden pin shining in the grass, a silent image of a knife stabbing into a heart. Much like how yours is feeling. It was the one that held his bun. Picking it up, you examine it, twirling it around between your fingers, imagining the golden pin against the lighted gold of his hair. You press it against your chest, feeling the beat of your heart still pace quick against it through the fabric of your outfit. You aren’t going to let it end like this. Running after Vil, you dash through the gardens and towards the exit, delighted as you catch the sight of someone else running away. Rags flutter against their body and dark black soot is dusted over their fair hair. But as they turn back and pause at the sight of you, you know it’s Vil. His sparkling makeup is all gone, replaced by tarred marks that smear across his face. His hair is scraggly and thin, his clothes no more than sheets of fabric better suited for beds. But still, his amethyst eyes gaze longingly at you and you take a deep breath and walk closer. Even without the dress, the hair, the makeup, you know what he looks like. Beautiful.
“May I hold you in my arms?”
Your voice is soft and tempting, carefully holding your arms open for him. He looks away, unable to face you.
“Are you sure you even want to, my prince?”
“I know that I don’t want to chase you if you don’t want me to. But if I need to, I will.”
He laughs bitterly, skeptically replying.
“Really… even when your beautiful jewel isn’t as perfectly cut as it should be?”
Walking closer, you don’t let your arms fall.
“I don’t know what you mean. As long as you’re Vil, you’re perfect to me.”
Surprised, he looks at you with wide eyes before sighing.
“Well, you truly do have beautiful eyes. Ones that can see me for the beauty I am.”
Softly, he slips his arms around you and squeezes you into a tight hug. You feel your cheeks burn but your heart swells with happiness. Smiling, you whisper into the wind with a short laugh.
“I’ve caught you, my gemstone.”

gaang modern AU part ii
here’s part 2 to this modern AU I wrote
this is coming a day later than I said it would, but in my defense it got really long, and now I simply can’t keep looking at it
I’m not sure if I want to write a part 3, but it’s been fun, so we’ll see!!
anyways, have some toph beifong and gaang pool shenanigans and a couple of kisses and some light drinking
3.5k words
Suki understands what her friends have been trying to explain as soon as they roll into the driveway.
“Oh,” she breathes, looking out the window. She turns around to look at Katara. “It’s a villa villa.”
An ancient, eight-foot high stone wall stretches in front of them, with a wide set of wood doors that open to reveal the structure they can already sort of see behind it. The Beifong summer home is a stunning example of old Earth Kingdom architecture, an elegant stone structure built around a courtyard on a raised platform. The house’s front holds a wide entryway decorated with enormous pillars, and between its bright colors and delicate construction, the house itself almost looks like a tiered cake. The central section of the building is four stories, and each of the upper floors is surrounded by a wraparound balcony with its own pillars, all pulling the viewer’s eye up to a roof of spotless, yellow, glazed ceramic tiles that shine under the blue of the cloudless sky.
Everyone in the car takes a moment to gaze up at the edifice, this testament to the longevity of the Beifongs, their symbol of power and endurance.
Except one.
“Yep, it’s old as hell,” Sokka says, putting the car into park. He turns off the engine. “Wait until you see the movie theater inside, though. Now that’s something to look at.”
“Sokka,” Katara says disapprovingly.
They all pile out of the car and begin pulling their bags from the trunk when a voice rings out across the courtyard.
“Look alive, knuckleheads!”
Toph comes barreling out of the entrance in a way that is only possible through years of familiarization, and she stops in the middle of the courtyard.
“All right, you all have to come to me now,” she says, her arms outstretched.
“Toph!” Sokka cries excitedly. He rushes over to her and scoops her off the stone tiles and into a tight hug.
Toph sounds like she’s choking. “Keep me on the ground, dumbass,” she says, “so I can know where I am.”
He releases her, and her feet hit the ground with a slight thud. She keeps a tight hold on his arm.
“Thank God you’re all here,” Toph says. “My mom didn’t want me to be alone before you guys arrived, so she made Yu stay with me.” She rolls her eyes. “Let me tell you, it has not been fun.”
As if having heard his cue, Yu pops out of the house and starts after Toph. The older man, one of the most senior servants in the Beifong household, looks thoroughly exhausted as he approaches the group.
“Miss Toph,” he calls, “you left your balled melon untouched. If you leave it for too long, it’ll get warm!”
Katara and Aang snicker behind their hands, but they stop abruptly when Toph’s face tilts threateningly toward them.
Toph ignores Yu’s statement once she hears him stand next to her. “Yu, my friends are here,” she says, shaking Sokka’s arm almost in demonstration. “You can go now.”
“But, Miss Toph, I’m sure your mother—”
Toph sighs loudly to cut him off. “Did you buy the groceries?”
“Why, yes, of course,” Yu replies hurriedly.
“And the rooms are ready?”
“Yes.”
“And the pool’s open?”
Aang feels Katara perk up next to him as she waits for the answer.
“Yes,” Yu says again, and Aang can’t help smiling when he hears a hiss of excitement leave Katara.
“And the bar’s stocked?”
“Of course,” Yu says, now with a slight roll of his eyes.
“And my friends are here,” Toph says with a sweeping motion of her arm. No one tells her she’s just gestured toward a bush. “Now if I remember right, this is the part where you go.”
Yu bows to the group. “You’re right, Miss Toph,” he says. “I hope you all have a wonderful stay here.”
He turns to go back into the house, but pauses to face them once more with a grimace. “Please don’t break anything this time,” he adds before he goes, too full of worry for his words to have been an afterthought.
“He’s so dramatic,” Toph says with a wave of her hand once he’s gone. “It was just a Quartz Dynasty vase.”
“Right,” Sokka says sheepishly, exchanging a furtive look with Zuko, who’s suddenly taken great interest in the Beifongs’ landscaping.
“All right,” Toph says, tugging Sokka’s arm. “Let’s go to the pool before Katara loses her mind.”
“Really?” Katara cries excitedly, already stepping in line with them.
“It was cleaned this morning just for you, Sweetness.”
Zuko stops them. “Hold on, I think Suki’s still taking it in,” he says in an amused tone.
Suki snaps her head back down and grins self-consciously. “I was looking at the little people,” she says in a high-pitched explanation, pointing to a small, ceramic procession of a dragon, a camelephant, and a winged boar on the eaves of the roof. She grabs her bag and follows them.
They walk clear through the first floor to reveal that the house stands on the crest of a hill, the rest of which tumbles before them as a garden full of sprawling lawns and blooming peony bushes and trees thick with pink and white blossoms. Before the drop of the hill, overlooking the lush green landscape, is the swimming pool full of crystal clear water. As soon as it comes into sight, Katara drops her bag and pulls her shirt off to reveal she already has her swimsuit on underneath, a simple white bikini.
“Last one in’s a rotten egg!” she calls, kicking off her shorts, and before anyone can say anything else, she’s crossed the grass and the sandstone patio and dived into the pool in one precise, fluid motion.
That’s not fair, she already put her suit on,” Sokka says. He notices Aang suddenly dropping to his knees, rifling through his own bag and grabbing something before running toward the poolhouse. “And where are you going?”
“I don’t wanna be a rotten egg, Sokka!” Aang yells. The door slams behind him so he can pull on his orange trunks.
Once everyone’s changed and finally joined Katara in the pool, it turns out Toph is the rotten egg, because she refuses to join them in the water.
“Come on, Toph,” Aang pleads once more.
“You know I don’t like swimming,” she says from the side.
“Won’t you just come to the shallow end? I’ll stay with you the whole time.” He holds his hand up in an oath even though he knows she can’t see it. “Promise.”
Toph considers him for a moment.
“All right,” she finally says, holding out her hand for him to take. “But if you let me drown, I will murder you.”
Aang only laughs and helps her down, keeping a hold on her hand as they stand side by side in the water.
The wind whistles through the leaves of the garden’s trees and ruffles Suki’s chin-length hair. She plunges under the water.
“We should have a hawk-rooster fight,” she says when she resurfaces. She slicks her wet hair away from her face with her hands.
“You’re right, Suki,” Sokka says brightly. He turns to Zuko and pats himself on the shoulder. “Zuko, hop on.”
Katara pauses mid-lap. “Are you kidding? That’s not a fair team.” She swims over to Zuko and pulls him by the arm. “Come on, Zuko, you’re helping me beat my brother.”
Zuko sighs as Katara clambers onto his shoulders. “Why does everything have to be a competition between you two?”
“You sound like Bato,” Sokka laughs. “Every game night he—”
“Sokka, quit talking and help me up,” Suki says from his back.
“Sorry, sorry, okay.” Sokka lifts her easily onto his shoulders and plants himself in front of Zuko.
“Ready?” Zuko asks.
Sokka leans forward and places a quick kiss on Zuko’s lips. “Don’t get upset when we beat you,” he says with a smirk.
Zuko wears a small, dreamy smile as he replies, “I won’t.”
He feels a repeated, urgent patting on the top of his head.
“He’s trying to distract you,” Katara hisses. “Focus! Do not lose this for us!”
Zuko rolls his eyes and falls into his stance, his hands clasped around Katara’s ankles.
“One, two, three, go!” Sokka yells shrilly, and Suki and Katara fall into grappling.
Toph crosses her arms. “I think I’d be good at this game,” she says idly.
“Probably,” Aang replies, smiling when he sees Sokka narrowly avoid a foot to the eye— “Jesus, Suki, be careful!” he cries—and patting Toph on the shoulder. “You always beat me up on land.”
Toph snorts. “That’s nothing. Talk to me about how I pinned Sokka last week. Now that was fun.”
They keep watching the fight playing out in front of them, Suki and Katara’s hands intertwined, each trying to push the other off. Both yell at the young men beneath them to hold steady.
“Oh, shit,” Toph suddenly says. “I forgot to ask Yu to pick up ice before he left.”
Aang glances at her before looking back in time to see Suki nearly lose her balance. She recovers and jabs Katara in the shoulder. “I can go,” he offers.
“You don’t have to,” Toph says.
“No, I will.”
With one more well-timed shove from Suki, Katara goes sailing off of Zuko’s shoulders and into the water in front of Aang and Toph with a loud splash.
Toph pulls herself closer to Aang. “A little warning for the blind girl next time!” she yells in the direction of the group.
Katara comes up laughing, trying desperately to push the hair out of her eyes. “Sorry, Toph,” she says.
“It’s really Suki’s fault,” Sokka points out before plunging under the water himself to let her off his shoulders.
“Wow, nice scapegoating,” Toph says dryly. “No wonder you guys broke up.”
Suki laughs. “Actually, I think it had more to do with the huge crush he had on his best friend,” she says, tilting her head in Zuko’s direction.
Zuko shrugs with an awkward smile.
Sokka’s head and shoulders emerge from the water. He tugs on his wolftail to stop its dripping. “Are we playing again?” he asks.
“I’m out,” Zuko says. He swims toward the shallow end and hops out to sit on the side of the pool. “I don’t think I can take Katara yelling at me anymore.”
Katara narrows her eyes at him before turning to Aang. “Looks like I need a new teammate,” she says. “Do you want to play?”
Aang smiles at her regretfully. “I would, but Toph just asked me to go pick up some ice.”
“In town?” Katara asks, wringing out her wet hair.
“Yup.”
“I’ll go with you,” she says brightly. She starts making her way toward the pool steps.
Aang’s lips spread into a goofy grin. “Okay,” he agrees.
Katara towels off while Aang gets Sokka’s keys from Zuko and guides Toph up on the side of the pool next to him. As he rises from being bent over Toph and Zuko, laughing at something Zuko’s said, Katara cannot help staring at him. He’s been taller than her for a long time, so his stature is nothing new, but he’s filled out significantly in the past couple of years, and she does not often get the opportunity to see the evidence in full display. The broad planes of his chest and shoulders practically shine in the late afternoon sun, and the clean lines and ridges of his abdomen contract with his laughter, guiding her gaze further down to the angled cut of his hips, across which his shorts are slung low.
Katara almost gasps when Aang addresses her.
“Ready?” he asks, pulling a T-shirt over his head.
It seems he hasn’t noticed her staring.
“Let’s go,” she replies in a rush, grabbing her sunglasses and following him back through the house and out to the car.
The doors slam shut behind them, and Katara concerns herself with rolling all of the windows down so they can still feel the summer breeze. Aang checks his mirrors and starts out of the driveway when he notices what Katara’s wearing.
“Uh, I’m pretty sure the ‘no shirt, no service’ rule still applies all the way out here,” he teases her as he guides the car back onto the winding, mountain road.
“It’s not like I’m not going to wear it at all,” Katara says defensively, though she’s smiling. She holds up her shirt in her hand. “I need to dry off first.”
Aang glances at her from the road and realizes she means the bikini top, which is more or less still soaked through. If she put the shirt on now, it would only seep through and leave an obvious stain on the front. He turns resolutely to look back at the road, swallowing hard.
The last time he saw her in the white top, with just the two of them together, was on a road trip to Omashu to celebrate Zuko’s college graduation. On the last day before they reached the city, Katara insisted on going to see a little-known cave nearby with an underground spring, and that night, after several cupfuls of terrible Earth Kingdom grain alcohol, raised the idea of going to swim in it again, under the full moon. Aang was the only one who could be convinced to go with her. They ventured back into the cave with a flashlight and turned it off once they got to the pool at the bottom, the night quiet but for the occasional sound of droplets falling from the stalagmites. They stayed close to each other in the dark water, but it was Katara who wrapped herself around Aang, and after a while, pressed her chest to his, separated only by the fabric of her white top. She looked up at him with her half-lidded eyes and boozy blush and only hesitated briefly before kissing him under the silver light of the moon.
Katara woke the next morning with a wicked hangover, and Aang drove the rest of the way to Omashu with Sokka sitting next to him, any hope of talking to Katara about their kiss drowned out by Sokka’s elaborate stories about another student in his department named Wing Fan. Neither mentioned what happened the night before, Aang wondering whether Katara even remembered it, and it never happened again, so they let it go.
But Aang remembered it. And if he had asked, he would have known that Katara did, too.
The winding road lets out to a stretch devoid of surrounding trees, and the glare of the early evening sun hits Aang right in the eyes. He pulls the sun visor down, but the light still shines through and makes him squint.
“I should have brought sunglasses,” he said absentmindedly, vaguely holding up his hand to see the road.
“Here, have mine,” Katara pipes up, and takes them off to carefully place them on Aang’s face. She giggles at the sight. “They look perfect on you.”
Aang sneaks a grin at her, his gray eyes obscured by the bright blue flowered frames thrifted by Sokka for Katara’s birthday. “Thanks, I try.”
He keeps them on even when they drive into town and walk into the supermarket, Katara pulling her shirt back on on the way in. He refuses even to push them onto his head, looking at the signs above the aisles through the darkened lenses, insisting, “But, Katara, I still need them for the ride back.”
Katara only shakes her head in amusement and pulls him after her toward the frozen aisle.
“Oh, mangoes!” Aang cries, and he stops in the middle of the produce to admire the piles of fruit. “These are Gyatso’s favorite.”
“Should we get some?” Katara asks. “Or any other fruit? Or snacks for the house or something?”
“If you think so,” Aang says noncommittally.
“What do you want?” she asks. She examines the assortment and wrinkles her nose when she notices the papaya.
Aang shrugs. “Ah, you know me. I don’t really care what we eat.”
“Really?” Katara asks disbelievingly. “This from the vegetarian who tried to convince Sokka to participate in meatless Mondays.”
Aang laughs. “It was worth a shot.” He picks up a mango. “Besides, it worked on you.”
“Hey, I’m meatless everyday now because of you, and you better not forget it,” Katara says, poking a finger to his chest.
Aang looks down at her hand, those goofy sunglasses still hiding his eyes, and then grins widely at her. “I won’t,” he says sincerely.
“Good.” Katara swipes the mango from his hand and grabs one more before taking off again toward the frozen food aisle.
They drive back to the house in no rush, the ice and the mangoes safely stowed in the backseat. They don’t talk but they don’t need to, the sound of the radio tangling with the air rushing by outside and through the windows. Katara smiles contentedly as she sits next to Aang, occasionally sneaking glances at him, at the veins of his forearm as he keeps his hand on the wheel, and at the angle of his jaw. Before they reach the house, she silently leans toward him and reaches for the back of his neck. His chin tilts up as her touch startles him, and he looks at her quickly out of the corner of his eye, but she feels him relax beneath her hand as soon she tucks the tag back into the collar of his shirt. Her fingertips brush lightly against the back of his neck before she brings her hand back to her lap, and she spies a small smile on his face as they pull back into the driveway of the home.
They’re both quiet, feeling content and a little contemplative, as they walk back through the house.
“You made it!” Suki cries a little too loudly, standing next to Zuko at the outdoor bar on the right side of the pool patio. Her arms rise above her head, and she reveals a tall glass in her hand that’s now only a quarter full.
“So this is what you’ve been up to while we were gone?” Katara asks in an amused tone.
“Not all of us,” Zuko says, exchanging a look with her.
“Yeah, some of us were waiting for ice,” Toph chirps, abandoning Sokka at the pool’s edge to walk up to Zuko. “You promised me a frozen marg, Sparky, let’s go.”
Aang laughs and brings the ice over to Zuko, while Katara balances the mangoes on the countertop.
Zuko pulls out a blender. “Do you want one, too?” he asks the pair.
“I will have another,” Suki declares.
“You’ve been cut off,” he replies, only half-serious. He notices Katara eyeing the water again. “As you can see, I do have experience in poolside service,” he says, pointing out Sokka floating idly in the pool, an empty glass near the stone’s edge.
Katara smiles and touches his arm, kissing him quickly on the cheek. “You’re the best,” she says before tossing her clothes off again and jumping once more into the water.
“Katara!” they hear Sokka shriek.
Aang laughs and turns back to Zuko. “Need any help?” he asks enthusiastically.
“Not now that we have the ice,” Zuko replies. He looks at Aang curiously, but before he can say anything, Sokka stops splashing Katara to greet Aang.
“Hey, Aang! Nice glasses.”
Aang’s forgotten he’s wearing them; he blushes once his hand comes up to touch them. “They’re Katara’s,” he explains.
“Cute,” Suki comments before sucking once more on her straw.
Zuko chuckles. “Makes sense.”
Sokka rolls his eyes, and Katara splashes him in the face.
“Aang, are you coming?” she calls.
“Yeah, just a second!” he calls back.
He turns back to Zuko and misses the sight of Sokka picking Katara up and throwing her into the deep end.
“Go hang out with her,” Zuko says quietly to Aang, a light smile on his face.
“Yeah,” Toph says, significantly louder, “go with Katara. And Zuko,” she says, slamming her hands on the countertop, “what is going on? I hear no blending.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Aang says, taking the sunglasses off and folding them carefully next to the mangoes.
“I may be blind, Twinkletoes, but I’m not an idiot,” Toph says, crossing her arms.
“Toph sees things,” Suki says seriously from her perch on the bar counter. Her eyes widen as she faces the group. “Below-the-surface things.”
“Thanks, Suki.” Toph grins mischievously.
Aang laughs good-naturedly. “You guys are crazy.”
Zuko watches as the younger man throws off his shirt and walks toward the pool, only to stop dead at the edge. Katara emerges from below the water’s surface, smoothing her hair back into a thick curtain of waves falling behind her. The soft evening light creates shadows across her form that only soften her curves and make her skin look even smoother. She looks almost ethereal, like one of the benevolent spirits of the sea.
She notices Aang and looks up at him eagerly. “Are you coming in?”
“Uh, yeah, of course,” he replies, shaking himself out of his reverie and finally slipping into the water next to her.
She grins in delight and holds his hand under the water. “I’ll race you to the bottom,” she challenges him.
“You’re on,” Aang laughs, and the two disappear into the deep end.
Sokka turns around from retrieving his glass to find himself alone. “Where did they go?” he asks the trio at the bar.
They ignore him.
“Twinkletoes just did it again, didn’t he?” Toph snickers.
“Yep,” Zuko says, and he switches on the blender.

Darcy and the Prince (Shieldshock)
“I’m going to be so happy when this is over and we can all get on with our lives,” grumbled Darcy, as she helped her friend into her very beautiful white wedding dress, fit for the princess Jane was about to become. Jane had met the Asgardian Prince Thor while visiting the country on a science quest (as Darcy referred to her research trips) and the two had, against all odds, fallen head over heels in love and became engaged a year later. Despite the meddlings, of Thor’s troublemaking brother Loki, they’d made it to the wedding day and Darcy was playing bridesmaid and generally trying to keep Jane from going full bridezilla.
“Hmm, maybe you’ll be singing a different tune once you’ve met some of Thor’s friends,” Jane suggested, as she was buttoned up. “He knows a lot of attractive, single, people.”
Darcy rolled her eyes and grimaced as she worked on the last few buttons.
“Ugh. NO, JANE. I do not need that drama in my life right now. I’m gonna finish my masters, then go globe-trotting and enjoy being single and free. Men are more trouble than they’re worth.”
“Sometimes I want to wring Ian’s neck for what he did to you,” Jane said vehemently. Darcy’s last boyfriend had turned out to be an utter cheating scum and she’d ended up with a broken heart, hence her general annoyance with men.
“Thor and I got our revenge,” Darcy said, smiling at the memory. “I don’t know if I’ll be able to trust again. Don’t be sad, Janie. I’m super happy to have you and Thor and Eric as buddies. Now, let’s get finished so we can get you down that aisle!”
Before she knew it, Darcy was preceding Jane down the aisle and trying not to start bawling. She was a shameless wedding weeper and knew it would be even worse this time since it was her best friend getting married.
As she blinked rapidly, she took a glance up front where a beaming Thor was standing, along with several other very striking, very well dressed men. She caught the eye of a gorgeous blonde decked out in full prince uniform and he smiled at her, which did funny things to her insides and it took all her self control to not stare at him through the whole ceremony.
Of course, by the time the happy couple kissed and was announced as husband and wife, Darcy could barely see through her tears and just hoped she’d grabbed the right man’s arm to walk her back down the aisle.
“I’m sorry,” she sniffled to her unknown escort. “I always weep an embarrassing amount at weddings and these dresses NEVER have pockets to stash tissues in.”
“Nothing to be sorry for,” a very pleasant voice answered. “I admit, I shed some tears as well. Luckily, I always carry a back up handkerchief. Here.”
A soft cloth was pressed into her hand, and Darcy gratefully accepted it, finally managing to wipe the tears away. Vision cleared, she was able to see her helpful person and let out a gasp as she saw it was the gorgeous blonde princey dude. Up close, it was clear she’d grabbed the arm of Prince Steven, one of the most swooned over royalties to ever grace the papers.
“Wow, thanks, your highness,” she said breathlessly. “I’m afraid this thing is ruined. It looks like my waterproof mascara is not actually waterproof.”
She held up the handkerchief, which was now smeared with black streaks.
“Don’t worry about it,” Prince Steven said, pretty blue eyes crinkling in a smile. “Like I said, I’ve got extra.”
“You’re the best,” Darcy blurted, then turned red. “Ohmm….. I’m gonna go repair the damages before they start the pictures. Will you let Jane and Thor know where I’ve gone? It should only take a few minutes.”
“Sure,” the Prince said kindly. “And please, call me Steve.”
Darcy ventured to look back at him, and saw nothing but genuine friendliness in his kind eyes. She fell a bit in love right there.
“Nice to meet you…...Steve,” she managed, a tad shyly. “I’m Darcy, by the way.”
“Lewis?” he asked, recognition appearing in his expression.
“The very same,” she confirmed. “I take it Thor’s mentioned me?”
“He sure has,” Steve answered. “He calls you his lightning sister and is frequently expounding on your wit, brains, and beauty. I’d have to agree with him. You are stunning.”
Darcy felt herself blush like a tomato.
“You’re one to talk, Prince GQ,” she sassed, to cover up her internal freak out over his compliment. “Be right back!”
With that she picked up her skirts and swished off to the restroom, leaving Steve looking after her with great amusement and interest. Darcy Lewis was a very strikingly lovely woman and the blue dress she was wearing greatly flattered her figure and emphasized her bright blue eyes. Thor had tried to set him up with her before, but Steve had stubbornly refused. Now that he’d met her, He thought he’d been an idiot.
“Are you well, Darcy?” Thor inquired, when she had rejoined the others.
“Yeah. My mascara betrayed me and made me start looking like one of those goth rock stars,” she told him. “That’s the Last time I use THAT brand. Congratulations, by the way.”
She offered up hugs to the happy couple, before they were whisked away for pictures with the official royal photographer.
Spotting Steve, she casually strolled over and watched a bit as he talked to a group of individuals, who must have been his friends, because he looked so much more relaxed and was laughing and smiling in a very jovial manner. He kept his public persona very buttoned up and stiff, so seeing him like this was utterly fascinating and Darcy was becoming more and more attracted every minute. She chatted with Bruce Banner for a little bit, then helped Jane manage her train in between shots.
They were so cute together, it was almost sickening. Thor looked at Jane like she was his whole universe and Jane looked at Thor like he was the only man in existence.
“I want to look at someone the way she looks at him,” Darcy murmured, half to herself, half to the blue and gold clad figure who had joined her.
“Me too,” Steve agreed, sounding very wistful.
“Shouldn’t be that hard for you, dude,” she pointed out.
He chuckled ruefully, blushing a bit.
“I’ve discovered there’s a big difference between starstruck lust, and real love and I haven’t seemed to find the latter yet. Most of them aren’t interested in getting to know the real me at all.”
“That’s sad,” Darcy told him. “You seem like you’d be very interesting, once you get past the whole princely trappings and regal persona. Tell me, Steve, what makes you tick?”
Steve turned to look at her, and she felt like the blue eyes were piercing through her, searching for something. Whatever he saw, it must have eased his mind, because he took a deep breath and started talking.
“For one thing, I’m very passionate about using my position to do as much good as I can, not be just some stuffed shirt figurehead,” he told her. “I’m also very fond of the arts and am in the process of starting an art school for underprivileged kids. I’m hoping they’ll let me teach, because I love to draw and paint.”
“That’s awesome,” Darcy said warmly, giving him an approving nod.
“I also love dogs and help out at the shelters whenever I can.” He continued. “They’re so much more pleasant than dealing with parliament.”
Darcy laughed at the distaste in his voice, but never got a chance to say anything else, because duty called. They shared a few looks across the room, and Steve shamelessly winked at her once when she pretended to strike a diva pose.
They didn’t get close enough to actually talk again until the reception, when he sauntered up to Darcy as she was giggling at a ridiculous archery joke Clint had made.
“Excuse me. Darcy, would you care for a dance?” He asked, holding out a white-gloved hand.
“Y-you’re asking me?” Darcy squeaked.
“I don’t see any other Darcys around here, unless one of you has something to tell me,” Steve said dryly, squinting at Clint, Natasha, and Bruce, all of whom knew him.
“Nope, not it,” Clint said, shaking his head.
“She’d love to,” Nastasha answered, giving Darcy a nudge forward.
“Yeah, I would, “ Darcy managed, taking the offered hand nervously.  Steve’s hand closed around hers and she felt a tingle up her spine.
She was in a dreamy daze as the prince expertly guided her around the floor. It was clear his princely education had included good dance technique and he was absolutely courtly about it.
“Now, Darcy, it’s your turn to tell me what makes YOU tick,” he said after a few minutes of silently gazing at her.
“Well, I live fueled by coffee and sarcasm, I majored in political science, and I’m not afraid to use my taser on creeps and jerks,” she told him proudly. “Also, I may have a thing for tall blonde princes.”
“Is that so?” He asked, a dangerously flirty tone in his voice.
“Yup,” she admitted. “Which is a little inconvenient seeing as how I’ve sworn off men.”
“That is too bad,” Steve agreed. “Any chance of possibly changing your mind?”
“I’ll certainly let you try,” she told him, struggling to keep her mind from its fantasies about his magnificent broad shoulders and muscular arms.
“Good,” Steve said, with another one of his stunning smiles. (If he kept doing that, there was no way she would be able to hold out long.)
“You look like you’re already planning your persuasive tactics,” she told him.
“Well, they don’t call me The Prince With A Plan for nothing,” Steve said, twirling Darcy around dramatically. Yeah, she was in SO much trouble.

Feedback is the glue that holds my writing together!
“oh that’s good!” pheobe exclaimed after she heard what monica would do if she was omnipotent for a day,
“okay pheobe,” you said,
“okay. if i were omnipotent for a day i would want, um, world peace, no more hunger, good things for the rainforest. and bigger boobs!”
“well, see. you took mine,” ross said, “chandler what about you?”
“if i were omnipotent for a day, i’d make myself omnipotent forever!” he answered and you scoffed, so did rachel,
“see, there’s always one guy! “if i had a wish i’d wish for three more wishes!”” she quoted,
joey entered the coffee house and everybody waved at him,
“hey, joey! what would you do if you were omnipotent?” monica asked him,
“probably kill myself,” he answered, not understanding,
“excuse me?”
“hey, if little joey’s dead then i got no reason to live,”
“joey, uh... om nipotent,” ross cleared it up,
“you are?” he gasped, as ross got up, “ross, i’m sorry!”
“how does she do that?” monica asked, referring to the sleeping pheobe in the coffee house,
“i cannot sleep in a public place!” ross answered,
“yeah me neither, i always feel like somebody’s watching me,” you said, “kind of like what we’re doing to pheobe right now,”
“would you look at her?” monica asked,
“we already are,”
“she is so peaceful,”
pheobe stirred in her sleep before her eyes shot awake and she screamed, sending monica jumping back,
“what? what?” she exclaimed, “hi,”
“it’s okay, you know. you just nodded off again,” ross said to her,
“what’s going on with you?” you asked her,
“i got no sleep last night.” she told you,
“why?” ross asked her and you sat up straight,
“my grandmother has this new boyfriend,” you already knew where this was going, “and they’re both kind of insecure in her, and deaf! so they’re constantly reassuring eachother that they’re having a good time! you have no idea how loud they are,”
“well if you want you can stay with me tonight,” you offered,
“thanks,” she thanked you,
“hey wait guys! why don’t you two come over, and we’ll have like a slumber party, like back in highscool,” monica said,
“oh yeah that would be great!”
“yeah sure mon!”
“... 95, 96, 97. see, i told you. less than 100 steps from our place to here,” joey said to chandler, walking into the coffee house,
“you got way too much free time,” chandler said walking over to you all.
“hey! there’s the birthday boy!” joey smiled at ross, jumping over the seat and sat next to ross and you, “ross, check it out. hockey tickets, rangers-penguins tonight at the garden and we’re taking you!”
“happy birthday pal!” chandler said, confusing you,
“we love you man,” joey kissed ross’ cheek,
“that’s funny,” ross laughed, “my birthday was seven months ago.”
“so?”
“so i’m guessing you had an extra ticket and couldn’t decide who got to bring a date? huh?”
“well, aren’t we mr. the-glass-is-half-empty?” chandler said making you chuckle,
“oh my god. oh. is today the 20th, october 20th?” ross asked, making joey nod,
“oh, i was hoping you wouldn’t remember,” monica said which made you and joey share confused glances,
“what’s wrong with the 20th?” joey asked,
“11 days before halloween- all the good costumes are gone?” chandler joked.
“today’s the day carol and i first... consummated our... physical relationship,” ross said and you nodded slowly, while joey stared at ross, “with sex,”
“you know what? id better pass on the game,” ross declared, “i think i’ll go home and think about my ex-wife and her lesbian lover,” ross got up,
“to hell with hockey, let’s all do that!” joey tapped your leg before getting up,
“come on ross!” chandler said to him, “you, me, joey, ice, guys night out! come on, what do you say big guy? huh? huh?” chandler threw punches that didn’t hit ross in the stomach,
“what are you doing?” ross asked.
“i have no idea,”
“come on, ross.” joey persuaded,
“alright, alright, maybe it will take my mind off it,” ross answered, “will you promise to buy me a big foam finger?”
“you got it!”
“look! look! look!” rachel yelled running in, “my first paycheck!”
everybody clapped as she ran and sat next to you,
“look at the window, there’s my name! hi me!” she smiled at the envelope,
“i remember the day i got my first paycheck, there was a cave-in in one of the mines and eight people were killed,” pheobe explained,
“you worked in a mine?” you asked her,
“no i worked in a dairy queen, why?”
“god! isn’t this exciting? i earned this. i wiped tables for this, i steamed milk for it, and it was totally...” she read her paycheck bill, before her face fell, “not worth it. who’s “fica”? why’s he getting all my money?” you chuckled at that, “i mean what? chandler, look at that!” she showed chandler,
“oh this is not that bad,” he handed it to joey,
“oh you’re fine for a first job!” he then handed it to ross who read it,
“you can totally live off this,” he handed it to pheobe who showed you and monica,
“oh yeah!” you guys lied
“hey by the way, great service today!” ross said getting money out from his pocket,
“oh yeah totally!” you did the same, putting it on the table as well as everyone else.
“hockey!” the men yelled, walking to the door, but before they could leave, three women walked in looking around and one was pregnant, everybody stared at them,
“hockey!” the men repeated, leaving the coffee house
the women looked around while the pregnant woman looked at the counter, straight at rachel, “rachel?” she asked.
rachel turned around and gasped, “oh my god!” she screamed as the three women started screaming loudly,
“oh, wow,” you sighed leaning into pheobe,
she ran over and hugged them,
“i swear i’ve seen birds do this on wild kingdom,” monica leaned over to you and pheobe,
“what are you guys doing here?” rachel asked,
“well, we were in the city shopping and your mom said you worked here, and it’s true!” the middle one giggled,
“look at you in the apron, you look like you’re in a play,” the one in black and white said,
“god, look at you, you are so big!” rachel said, referring to the woman’s pregnant belly,
“i know, i know! i’m a duplex!” she rubbed her stomach before shrugging,
“so what’s going on with you?” rachel asked the girl in black and white,
“well, guess who my dads making partner in his firm?” she pointed at herself, making all the girls scream again,
“and while we’re on the subject of news...” the girl in the middle showed her hand which had an engament ring on it, making everybody scream once again,
“look, look, i have elbows!” pheobe said, making you, pheobe and monica make fun of the girls by screaming like them, making them all look at you, and you guys shut up.
tomorrow was your date so you headed back up to get an outfit while monica and pheobe helped you pick one,
“what about this one?” monica asked, holding up a black dress,
“yeah that’s nice, but it’s too formal, we’re only going to a dinner,” you told her,
“okay well i have an idea! what’s your best feature? body wise?” pheobe asked and you shrugged,
“i don’t know?”
“your boobs,” monica nodded,
“oh, 100%,” pheobe agreed,
“well i might just have to agree with you on that one,” you shrugged,
“okay, so now that we have figured out what is your best feature, we need to figure out which outfit compliments that outfit the most, so take off your clothes and let’s get started!” you and monica looked at her, “why do i sound like joey?”
you laughed before going to change in your bathroom while they picked out more outfits, the first one was a pink dress, that cut down to about thigh length and didn’t compliment your breasts at all, but you showed the girls anyway,
“okay, this one is nice, but it doesn’t show the ladies,” you pointed at your breasts,
“okay well next one, is this red, louis vuitton dress, and it looks like it would compliment them,” monica handed it to you and you changed putting it on, before walking back in and both their mouths dropped,
“oh y/n! you look so gorgeous,” monica said to you, making you blush,
“really?” you asked,
“oh 100% stunning, if i was a lesbian, i would be coming up with the worst pick up line ever right about now,” pheobe said to you, making you smiled,
“well this is it then, but now i need shoes,” you said,
“oh i have a great pair back at my place, i’ll go get them,” monica said, leaving you and pheobe here,
“so what’s he like?” she asked you.
“oh he’s dreamy, 100% my type, fluffy black hair, with blue eyes, just really, really gorgeous,” you explained while she gasped,
“wow he sounds like a prince, i cannot wait to meet him,” she said,
“yeah well pheebs you will tomorrow, he’s picking me up at the coffee house at 7,” you told her,
“here they are!” monica walked back in, handing you the shoes, they were black heels, that looked really nice. you put them on and looked in the mirror, liking what you saw,
“okay yes, this is what i’m wearing,” you smiled, you got out of your date clothes and into pj’s for the slumber party, as you guys walked back over to monica’s apartment.

You were on your car, following Roger for about a quarter until the paps lost you. It was a crazy moment you don't want to relive again. As you parked outside the pub, he opened the door for you to walk in. Always a gentleman. You noticed his bandmates' figures from a corner and walked closer with Roger behind you.
"Oh hello Y/n!" Brian greeted you and made some space for you to sit.
"Hi Brian, Fred, John." You smiled at them and waited for Roger to bring an extra chair to sit next to you.
"We didn't expect you here, how are you, darling?" Freddie asked.
"I'm a little upset." You were straightforward, Roger was aware and he placed his hand on your thigh, trying to calm you down. Brian noticed his move and understood something was wrong.
"You want to talk about it?" Brian asked.
"The man she was seeing appeared at her work and embarrassed her to death. I was there at half of the scene and intervened." Roger started.
"Oh, fuck." Freddie gasped.
"I'm afraid he saw us last night." You turned to Roger, referring to him fucking you at his cabinet.
"Yeah, you're right. Well, at least he's staying at the police's cell tonight. He was acting irrationally in public. He caused trouble." Roger spoke to his bandmates too.
The waiter came to your place, took yours and Roger's order and left. "Y/n, where did you find this man? He's such a troublemaker!" Freddie said.
"It doesn't matter where I met him, he just won't accept the fact I want to get back with Rog." You admitted and felt your heart beating fast. Roger wrapped his arm around you, feeling extremely happy of your declaration.
"So, you also want to get back with him?" Freddie asked surprised.
"I'd give it one more chance..." you sighed and stared at Roger, wishing he'd be different this time.
"Wow, that's big news!" Freddie said.
"What are you going to do with R/N? He won't give up this easy." Roger asked.
"I have no idea. I'll come up with something." You sighed.
The beers arrived and so on, you spent these couple of hours with the Queen members, drinking and having fun. They always liked your company but most of them, Roger. He enjoyed watching you having fun with his bandmates. He liked seeing you laughing and joking around. Later, you drove off to your own apartment, knowing it's safe to walk in to get more clothes and personal stuff including your daughter's. You were about to move out soon and didn't want to tire Laura anymore with all these movings and rides. You had to talk with your landlord about moving out so you didn't waste time.
Time passed fast and you drove at Roger's place again, with your suitcase hanging on your hand. He saw you coming closer to his door and there he was, standing happy at your presence.
"Hi." He smiled and leaned in to kiss your lips. "Come on in." He made way for you to walk in and suddenly Laura's cheering voice echoed to your ears.
"Mummy!" She cajoled.
"Hello, my little baby!" You knelt down to kiss her. "How was your day? I missed you!"
"I got an A in maths!" She jumped showing her excitement.
"Wow, that's amazing sweetheart! Well done!" You praised your blonde little girl and kissed her again.
"Women of my life," Roger started and Laura and you turned your gazes to him. "I have an announcement to make," he cleared his throat trying to make it funny for Laura.
"What is it, dad?" She asked.
"Tonight we are going out, the three of us. Diner at nine, how's it?" He asked waiting to hear your affirm.
"That's great!" You said with a huge smile on your face.
"Wow, dad! Yes! I'm so happy! I'm just gonna rush to my room and finish my homework!" She was as excited as you and maybe a little more because she barely remembers Roger and you being lovebirds.
"Don't rush it, love, your answers might be wrong! I'll come and check you!" He joked and laughed. He then came closer to you. "You brought a suitcase?" He asked as he checked it.
"Yes, I talked with the landlord, he has no issue with me moving out. I can leave at any moment. Are you surely okay about it?" You asked him trying to hide any possible doubts turning around your heads.
"I'm more than sure about it. To get things straight, I was never okay with the divorce-" he started.
"Me neither, it was your behaviour towards me." You stopped him.
"Let me finish." He gestured his hands on you and let him speak. "I know, I was unfaithful and an asshole, but this time I do want to settle down with you.". His eyes spoke the truth to you and wanted to believe him. You were questioning again what if he becomes what he was like before? What if he cheats on you again?
"Okay." You nodded with your eyes on the floor and then you looked at him again. "This is the last chance. You know it didn't work back then." You whispered and he agreed with you. But now, he wants to fight to gain your trust back.
"What about the rest of your clothes and stuff back at the flat?" He asked.
"I called the furniture mover company. They are willing to move our stuff here on Friday." You answered.
"Oh the sooner the better. Can't wait to live with you again." He pulled you in arms, hugging you tight. "Oh," he pulled away for a second.
"What is it?" You asked confused.
"I didn't have the time to tell you how sexy you look on this tight shirt, did I?" He winked, trying to flirt with you.
"No, you didn't." You laughed at his compliment. "Guess it's your kink?" You asked.
"You are my kink." He winked and kissed you softly. "Now go to my bedroom. Tonight, I want you to wear that dress hanging on my closet." He bit his lip and that feeling again got you again. He always bought you dresses you never asked for. But you gotta admit, this man has taste. In everything.
"You didn't have to, Rog." You said with a soft smile on your lips.
"I chose it for you. I want you to wear it. It's a gift." He said back, trying to not hear any other discourage from you.
"Thank you..." your eyes sparkled and kissed him again before going upstairs to see it. He was spoiling you and he liked that.
Later-----
You dressed in the dress Roger bought you: a blue sapphire satin dress, with a smooth cut on your leg, and your torso. It was flattering your waist, your visible leg and your breasts. It fit you like it was made just for you. Roger knew you really well, he knew your body size and type. He could choose the ideal dress for you without worrying if it's not your colour or the fabric that could flatter you less. You couldn't stop looking yourself at the mirror, it was a dreamy dress, one of the best you've ever worn.
Tumblr media
A gentle knock on the door awakened your daydreaming. "May I come in?" It was Roger who obviously wanted to get into his bedroom.
"Sure." You coughed after stepping back from the mirror.
"Holy shit." Roger gasped when he walked in the room. His eyes couldn't be taken away from you. "You are stunning." He came closer to you, checking the dress out. "It looks more beautiful on you than I thought." He smiled at you and twisted you around with his hand.
"You think so?" You asked with a giggle.
"I'm certain." He stared at you for a few seconds before returning back to reality. "So, I dressed Laura for tonight, she's ready. I just have to wear my suit and fix my hair a bit and we're leaving." He walked through his closet to grab one of his thousand ironed tuxedos.
You carefully sat on his desk's chair, crossing your legs and actually noticing you have no shoes to wear. You only had the heels you wear at work. They don't match your dress. "Uh, Roger?" You asked.
"Yes?" He replied while he was taking his clothes off to wear his black tuxedo.
"I, um, only have one pair of shoes here. You know, the heels I wore today." You stood up going closer to him, helping him with buttoning his suit after he wore the pair of trousers. He was carefully watching your movements and then your exposed torso, he was absorbed by your hands and then your pink lips.
"I have a surprise for you Cinderella." He joked around and grabbed his blue tie, ready to wear it around his neck.
"Again?" You looked surprised. "At least let me fix your tie." You tied the tiny fabric carefully as if it was made of porcelain. Moments such as, remind you of some award shows he occasionally took you with. It felt nice fixing each other's clothes and details. It was all so magical, even your thoughts travelled together.
"Y/n?" He asked.
"Mmm?" You absentmindedly returned.
"Remember when we went to the Brits nine years ago? I think it was the first time I asked you to attend an award show with me." He smiled.
"Yes, of course, I do. I was at my first trimester at the time, I was throwing up at the toilet." You laughed.
"You did?" He was shocked at your confession as if he doesn't remember.
"Don't you remember? I was leaving our table all the time." You reminded him.
"I guess I was too focused on winning the best single. I'm sorry in delay." He laughed and his hands found your waist, hugging you warmly.
"Apology accepted. But it didn't matter, I was so happy for you. You were winning the one award after the other, you impregnated me..." you giggled after remembering that night.
"It was planned though." He joked. And now that his tie is fixed, he wore his black suit jacket around and made you sit on the chair you were before. "You think I didn't think of your shoes, Cinderella?" His fingertips teased your leg, after grabbing a box from the drawer.
"Oh don't tell me!" You awed.
He opened the box and inside of it, there was a beautiful pair of black heels, special for a night out. He gently wore the pair on your feet and helped you stand up on your feet. They were really comfortable and easy-to-walk heels. "Thank you!" You kissed him.
"Your welcome." He approached the door and waited for you to go downstairs.
You walked down the stairs and Laura was taken aback by your total figure, she hasn't seen you glowing in happiness. "Wow mum, you're beautiful!" She gasped.
"Thank you! Shall we go?" You asked her and she came closer to you, grabbing your hand.
"Wait for me at my car outside, I'm coming," Roger stated and you did as he said.
-----------------
The car drive was silent, not awkward though. You could feel Roger feeling apprehensive about the diner. He was trying to change all this time. You just didn't let him, until the last two days when you saw him trying to reach you for real and R/N showed red flag signs. Laura knew nothing about him but she'd obviously prefer her father than him.
"Here we are..." Roger broke the long-lasting silence and reduced speed when the fancy restaurant was right opposite you. Flashing lights hurt your eyes when paps noticed Roger's car slowing speed. At least, the windows were non-transparent so Laura couldn't get too distracted.
"Baby, don't look at the flash, it's cameras everywhere." Roger turned to Laura to warn her about the paps. She is aware of having a dad celebrity but thankfully never talks about it to her classmates, let alone brag. "Let me park the car and we're getting out. I'll keep you on my arms until we get at the foyer." He drove a little closer to the parking before you were ready to get out. You haven't felt yourself be taken photos for a long time. It frustrated Roger and you but mostly him because he disliked being papped at his personal moments, let alone when his child is with him. Many were the times when Roger and Laura were papped whenever he was with her on weekends or vacations. "Y/N, cover your eyes as you walk to the entrance door." He advised and then you both opened the car's doors to walk inside. You started walking to get some paps with you so Laura and Roger could walk with ease to the restaurant.
"Y/N, are you getting back with Roger?" Paps started questioning you but you knew you had to stay silent. You never spoke to them. You let Roger do the negotiations. He's the public figure, not you. "What are your statements about today's event at the place you work?" Of course, they'd reported it.
You reached the entrance door and waited for Roger to come to you. He carried Laura on his arms and her face was buried on his neck, trying to not be seen by the cameras. He looked at you with the are you okay look and you nodded until the receptionist opened the glass door for you.
"Have you made a reservation, sir?" The receptionist asked checking the list.
"Yes, it's Taylor." He put Laura down and you all patiently waited.
"Nice, table for three, follow me." He smiled and followed him to the table the reservation was. Next to the window, great. Paps could see you now so you told Laura to sit behind the window so her face couldn't be seen.
"That was crazy out there." He sighed as you all sat down.
"Yes, I internally panicked. Laura are you okay?" You asked your kid when she drank some of the water, the waiter served her.
"Yes, I am." She assured with a smile.
"What will you drink sir?" The waiter turned to Roger.
"A bottle of Chardonnay, we'll need it." He laughed and checked on you.
"Right away, sir." He left and now all three of you started talking.
"So Laura what do you think of tonight's diner?" Roger asked her.
"I didn't expect that. I thought you weren't together anymore..." She declared. "Mum, didn't we expect R/N for diner tonight? What happened," she asked confused.
"Laura um.." You cleared your throat before starting to talk. "I talked with your dad and we thought we should get back together." You started. "How does that sound to you?" You hoped she would be positive about it.
"Really?" She asked and looked both at Roger and you. "Mum, dad, that's wonderful!" She gasped.
"You think so?" Roger asked.
"Yes! I was sad when you were arguing all this time. I just hope it won't be the same anymore. It's lovely when we are under the same roof, I feel we're a family but when you argue, I can't stand it..." She admitted and a wave of guilt took you over. She was witnessing your Homeric arguments all this time, neither said a word, nor burst out crying. She was silent and never complained regardless of how much she missed her dad.
"This time's, going to be alright. We discussed it with your mum and it feels right to be back again. Because hands-off, but we missed each other. That's a fact we can't argue over." Roger laughed at Laura and she was happy to hear it.
"So mum, we're leaving our home?" She asked.
"Yes, we're going to dad's." You smiled at her.
You drank and ate like a proper family. It was a worthy diner and definitely full of surprises. You had no idea. Roger excused himself and stood up from his chair and got down on his knees next to you. Laura lost it at the sight of her dad kneeling to you. Your mouth was wide opened at his body position. People around the restaurant were looking at you now. They probably knew who Roger was and they were all awed at the sight of the hot drummer of Queen getting on knees for you. "Roger, what are you doing?" You gasped with your hands on your mouth.
"Y/N..." He started and took out from his pocket a small red box. You were ready to tear. Laura came closer to you, she had to enjoy the scene. "You're the love of my life." He added and that sent you to heaven and back. "When we were apart, I couldn't find love." His eyes found yours. He was honest and that blue colour of his irises sent you shivers. "That divorce awakened my love for you; I was unfaithful, I know. I was dishonest, I know that too. What I didn't know was that I couldn't live without you. So..." He took a deep breath and revealed a platinum ring with three diamonds on heart shapes. It was beautiful but not as beautiful as Roger's statement. "Y/N, will you marry me again?" His eyes were glowing as his fingers carefully grabbed the ring and wore it around your fourth finger. You stared at him as if he was the most special thing in the world. You then looked at Laura who was crying from happiness.
"Yes, I'll marry you again." You tore as you accepted his proposal and now he let out a relieving smile. Roger stood on his feet again and picked you up, asking for a loving kiss. "I love you." You whispered in his ear, not letting go of his hug.
"I love you too." His hand hugged your entire body, your back was covered by his arms and hands. His eyes caught Laura's who was the happiest kid on earth. She has the chance to see her parents getting married. Again. "I promise I won't be the asshole I was." He confessed to your ear. People at the restaurant couldn't stop applauding and congratulating you two. It was a delirious moment.
3 MONTHS LATER
You and Roger got married two weeks after his proposal at the city's town hall with Freddie and John being witnesses. A little later, The Magic Tour started and your husband had the bright idea to take Laura and you on tour since she was done with school priorities due to summer break. You were hanging out with Queen members and the two other wives. It was a great experience, probably the greatest tour of the band. Laura was the happiest you've ever seen her. You all had some spare time to explore the cities, enjoy each other's company and so on. Needless to say that Roger and you had sex at the early dates of the tour and now you have your period delay for a couple of months. In this time, you vomited a lot and felt dizzy, so a pregnancy test was the answer to all your symptoms. And yes, you were pregnant again on Roger's kid. You felt extremely happy about it and now that you know about your pregnancy, you wanted to share it with him, with your husband.
You were at your hotel room, in Madrid, eating at the balcony some junk food you bought earlier. You heard Roger entering the room, probably alone because Laura was with the other Queen kids.
"Y/N?" He searched for your figure until you answered from out there. "Oh, there you are." He smiled and leaned closer to kiss you. "I thought you were at the pool."
"Well, yeah, I was hungry." You smiled and took another bite.
"Again?" He smirked because he was suspicious about your condition. He has noticed your irregular sleeping and eating schedules and definitely saw you feeling disgusted. "Is there something you want to tell me?" He asked and sat next to you.
"Like what?" You raised your brow, playing around
"Well, I don't know," he moved his shoulders in confusion. "Something personal?" He tried to check you out but you couldn't be seen behind the table you were sitting.
"Come with me." You stood up and caught his hand to follow you inside.
You removed your robe and stayed at your bikini, letting him notice anything different on you. He was way too focused at your belly, trying to notice the tiniest.
"I'm pregnant!" You announced with a huge smile on your face and Roger needed a few seconds to process it.
"P-pregnant?" He asked ready to explode from happiness. "Oh God, I'm gonna be a dad again?" He tore and ran to you hugging you and kissing you.
"Yes! It's been two months, already..." You tore with him and felt happier than ever.
-----1987-----
And somehow, Roger and you stayed together after getting married again. Nine months later, you'd give birth to another blonde baby girl and now that Roger focused on his solo projects, he had more spare time to spend it with his beloved family.

Curvy Girl 2
Imagine: A battle practice with 1-B reveals some interesting things.
Part One
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yaomomo had not been happy for days after the Alpha incident; she was pretty furious but was an expert at hiding it. She wasn’t upset with you, of course, but she did want to know which alphas had tried picking a fight with you but you knew better than to tell her. It caused a stir within the class; a lot of them suggesting a buddy system for you but you scoffed at the idea and gave them a lecture that you could handle yourself but you appreciated the concern.
Bakugo had been avoiding you since that day and you were thankful.
Until Aizawa-sensei declared a joint practice with the 1-B class. “You’ll be in groups of two and face off against a duo from 1-B,” Aizawa instructed indifferently and began naming the duos. Of course, it was with your shit luck that you got paired with Bakugo. Bakugo remained pissed off but almost indifferent and you were cursing the gods for this shitty thing.
Yaomomo was concerned as usual, “Try to be careful around him, Y/N.” She said softly as she eyed Bakugo a few feet away, “I mean, look at how well he worked with Deku.”
“She’ll be fine, Yaomomo!” Mina blurted out excitedly, “Y/N has a crazy strong quirk, remember? It’ll be so cool watching them fight together as a team!”
Kyoka nodded with a small smile, “I think so, too. Bakugo knows you aren’t a pushover just because you’re an Omega and he’s an Alpha.”
“See?” You pat Yaomomo’s bicep, “You don’t have to worry about me, Yaomomo, I’ll handle myself.” Creati sighed and began creating sugary treats to fuel your quirk and you couldn’t help but smile; Yaomomo is so sweet, I kinda wished she was my Alpha, you thought softly to yourself. You were unaware of Bakugo watching with jealous eyes; unaware that he saw that soft, dreamy look as you looked at stupid Ponytail.
When everyone was paired off, the practice started immediately. You and Bakugo would be group 6 and be facing off against Nieto Monoma and Ibara Shiozaki. It would be a curious and exciting battle and you couldn’t wait to show off your new moves! You were nervous about working with Bakugo but you knew he wouldn’t do anything to fail this practice and neither would you.
You mustered up some Omega courage and sauntered over to Bakugo, “Ready?” You asked with a grin, “We’re up next.”
Bakugo grunted, “Stay out of my way, Omega.” He sneered.
A chill ran down your spine but you ignored it, “We’re meant to be working together,” You point out with a soft frown but you weren’t surprised, “Okay, do your thing and I’ll do my best to adapt.” You shrugged not really feeling bothered.
Bakugo scoffed, “Good luck keeping up.”
“I can keep up, don’t forget that I’m one of the tops in the class alongside you,” You say heatedly.
“Just stay the fuck out of my way, idiot,” Bakugo snapped angrily, “I don’t need some Omega to pass this practice!”
“May I remind you that both of us have to take down one opponent each!” You snarled feeling annoyed; the bad aura between you and Bakugo was rolling off in waves from the both of you and around your class. Yaomomo was watching with increasing worry whilst the rest of the class felt uneasy.
You and Bakugo were facing each other--both foaming at the mouth and enraged.
“Y/N,” Yaomomo said softly from behind you, placing a gentle hand on your shoulder to calm you down, “Don’t let him get to you.”
Bakugo’s crimson eyes snapped to her hand and he felt the rage in his heart about to explode; a snarl was on the tip of his tongue. “It’s fine, Yaomomo,” You muttered exhaling angrily, “It won’t happen again.”
Bakugo promptly turned around and stormed off into the nearby foliage; it wasn’t long until the sound of explosions and curses and trees falling came. You tried not to wince but you sighed and rubbed your temple, “He’s so difficult,” You mumbled to Yaomomo and Mina, “I feel a little sorry for his Omega.”
“Bakugo and Y/N,” Aizawa-sensei called, “You two are next; try not to kill each other.” He said with a sharp voice.
Neither of you said anything in response; Bakugo too busy raging and you were too busy chanting in your head to respond. You stepped into the arena and across you could see your opponents; you could hear Mononma ranting as well. You rolled your eyes and waited for the signal to sound.
When it did, Bakugo shot off.
You fixed your hair out of your face and waited for him to pick Ibara or Neito. You were surprised when he went after Ibara and that left you with Neito Monoma. Your eye twitched and you muttered, “Fucking asshole,” Of course he would be a dick and leave you to fight Neito, “But I’ll show that idiot.”
You were quick to move in on Monoma as he was busy taunting and mocking Bakugo for picking Ibara as his target; Monoma dodged your large wall of crystal swiftly and turned his glacial blue eyes on you. “Well, if it isn’t the Omega of 1-A!” He laughed with a sneer and you threw sharp shards of crystal at him but he used Bakugo’s quirk to dodge them easily, “Wow, I’m so scared!” He laughed loudly.
You felt your hand twitch and crystal began forming under your foot and shot out to encase Monoma’s foot, but Monoma used his classmate’s hardening quirk to break free and charged at your with another one of his classmate’s quirk. It was hard fighting Monoma due to his Quirk and his running mouth, it honestly didn’t know when to shut up.
You both classes and fought wildly; you weren’t the most elegant fighter but you weren’t to be underestimated. You were top five in 1-A for a reason. Ibara hadn’t lasted long against Bakugo and the angry blonde was off to the side watching the fight with narrowed eyes.
Monoma was beginning to tire; using different quirks took a toll on his body. You smirked darkly and began to apply more pressure as you switched from defense to offense and Monoma vice versa, but Monoma had only used up four quirks out of the five he could copy so, you had to be careful.
“I heard some things about you,” Monoma taunted after exchanging blows; there was blood from where you punched him in the mouth earlier, “I wanted to ask you if they were true,” There was a wicked gleam in his eyes as the both of you faced off.
You sneered, “And what is that?”
“That you open those Omega legs for any Alpha,” A cruel smirk appeared on his face as you flinched, “That you particularly like to be pleased by that girl Alpha.” That was hitting below the belt; questioning an Omega’s integrity was disgusting. Bakugo felt his rage rise as he watched the horrified look on your pretty face.
Monoma struck.
A giant wave of crystal slammed into you. It sent you flying across the arena with a cry. You felt your body impact with the ground and you rolled over a few times disorientated. Monoma was incoming as he laughed, “I feel so bad for your Alpha!” He cackled darkly, “Having such a slut of an Omega!”
“Shut up!” You screamed--the sheer power of your scream sent a wave of crystal through the arena; it sent Monoma tripping over his feet by the force of it. You shot forward and pinned him down under a slab of crystal on his chest. You stood on top of it seeing him through the clear pastel crystal and applied pressured on his chest. Angry tears ran down your eyes, “You’re a piece of shit, Neito Monoma,” You snarled as you cradled your broken arm against your chest and he struggled to breathe, “And it’s you that I pity and your Omega.” You spat at him as you heard Aizawa call your name to let Monoma go.
“Say that to my face again,” You snarled fiercely, “And your Omega won’t have an Alpha!”
You were hauled off into Recovery Girl’s office immediately; your classmates unable to interact with you as you were swept away too quickly. One thing was clear, the whole class was fuming. To say such cruel things to an Omega and in the eye of teachers supervising the fights was cowardly. Recovery gasped when you turned up at her office and immediately got to work but before she could get started, someone stormed into the room.
Recovery Girl glared at Bakugo, “Get out unless you’re injured!” She snapped impatiently.
“How bad is she?” Bakugo demanded angrily.
“I don’t know yet! Now, get out!” Recovery Girl hissed pointing to the door. You were disorientated as you laid on the bed; you were staring up at the ceiling and replaying what Monoma had said to you. Did people really think that? You asked with hurt and a tiny sob escaped your lips.
It didn’t escape the bickering Recovery Girl and Bakugo. “She’s my Omega!” Bakugo finally exploded and shouted stunning Recovery Girl and YOU.
No! Your head screamed and you couldn’t help but cry fully now. Did he believe what Monoma said? Was he angry with you?! How long did he know he was my Alpha!?
Recovery Girl pursued her lips and sighed, “Let me heal her up first,” She patiently explained, “And if she decides to speak with you then I’ll let you both have the room.” Bakugo felt a growl leave his throat but he promptly turned on his heel and stormed out of the room.
You were panicking.
You were shaking.
Recovery Girl did her best to heal you and calm you down, but the old woman knew nothing would until your Alpha came and settled you down. The bond between Alpha and Omega needed to be solid and right now, it was obvious it wasn’t fully connected between the two. Ten minutes later, Recovery Girl asked you a question.
“Do you want to speak with him right now?” She was gentle because she knew how fragile the situation was.
“He knew this whole time,” You whimpered rubbing at your eyes, “He probably doesn’t want me.” You said.
And Recovery Girl whacked you with her cane. You yelped in surprise and the door burst open with Bakugo charging with sharp eyes; his eyes frantically scanned the room before landing on you. Recovery clicked her tongue but she seemed amused, “Is that a yes or no?” She asked again.
You swallowed uneasily but gave a shy nod.
“I’ll give you both some privacy,” Recovery Girl said softly and left the room.
Bakugo sauntered over to your side, “You’re a fucking dumbass,” Bakugo muttered towering over you; you could feel your body ache for him to be closer. You wanted to feel his skin against yours and feel how warm he was. You flinched slightly at his harsh words but remained quiet, ready to face his wrath and rejection. “You really think I’d believe those bullshit rumors?” He demanded with a softer tone, you caught the hurt in his words.
You looked up at Bakugo with bloodshot eyes, “You knew.” You accused quietly.
Bakugo huffed and momentarily looked away from your eyes, “That day when those Alphas tried picking a fight with you.”
“That long!?” You murmured with a sad look, “Was it because I wasn’t good enough?” You asked as your heart ached badly.
“Don’t be stupid,” Bakugo sharply said, “You didn’t realize that I was your Alpha so, I didn’t want to push you.” He explained off-handedly, “I would’ve thought you’d realize our bond but you’re dumb.”
“You’re so mean,” You muttered with a glare.
“You obviously don’t pay attention in Alpha/Beta/Omega class,” Bakugo rolled his eyes with a scoff, “Otherwise you would’ve recognized the signs.”
“So, you’re not rejecting me?” You asked shyly.
“Why the fuck would I do that?” Bakugo sighed.
You looked down at your lap, “I dunno,” You shrugged, “I...I might not be the right Omega for you.”
“That’s such bullshit,” Bakugo rolled his eyes and reached for your hands, “You’re fucking mine, you got that, Y/N? I’m your Alpha and you’re my Omega and I couldn’t have asked for a better Omega,” Bakugo stated as he looked at you dead-on, “I’m not an idiot to reject my Omega but I am an idiot for not fucking telling you instead.”
You blinked down at your intertwined hands; you awed at his warmth. You felt your body scream in joy. Bakugo clicked his tongue, “Don’t start crying,” Bakugo muttered, “Drives my Alpha insane.”
“I just…” You threw your arms around him; your Alpha, “I finally have you.” You whispered as Bakugo wrapped his arm around you and pressed you against him firmly; he felt like a fortress; strong and firm. Bakugo buried his face into the area between your shoulder and neck and inhaled your unique scent and committed it to memory; His Omega.
“I want to kill Monoma,” Bakugo muttered though it was slightly muffled; you shivered when you felt his hot breath push against your flushed skin, “So bad,” He growled holding you tighter now, “Aizawa barely held me back.” He muttered calming down when you snuggled closer to his body; your inner omega wanting more from your Alpha.
“Y/N, Recovery Girl said she healed--Oh!”
Bakugo pulled away from you but kept an arm around your lithe form as his crimson eyes zeroed in Yaomomo; You smiled brightly at Yaomomo, “Bakugo’s my Alpha, Yaomomo!” Bakugo did a double-take on you; your words hitting him hard in a fucking good way and that smile on your face was...so fucking gorgeous, like, what the fuck.
Yaomomo smiled and she was genuinely happy, “I guess I don’t have to worry about you as much,” She mused, “She’s a handful, ya know.” She pointed out to Bakugo.
Bakugo snorted, “Yeah, I fucking know.”
Yaomomo smiled a little more, “Should I tell the others or would you prefer to do it yourselves?” Yaomomo asked with a cute head-tilt.
“We’ll do it,” Bakugo smirked, “I wanna see that fucker Monoma’s face when we tell everyone.” You shivered against your Alpha and he rubbed your shoulder in comfort. You watched as Yaomomo smirked; a sight rarely seen. You gawked at your best friend as she nodded and turned around to leave.
“Thanks, Ponytail,” Bakugo’s words made Yaomomo pause, “For keeping my Omega safe.”
Yaomomo flashed Bakugo a smile, “Don’t hurt her or else you’ll have to deal with me.” And she left.
“She has balls,” Bakugo mused before he turned to you, “Wanna go out tonight?” He asked with his eyebrow cocked.
You smiled, “I have to check my schedule,” You said playfully.
Bakugo scoffed, “Cheeky thing,” But you watched Bakugo smile; a smile so beautiful it left you stunned. You gently reached out and brought Bakugo’s face to yours and gently kissed him. Bakugo groaned quietly and pressed his lips firmer on yours, “My Omega,” Bakugo murmured pulling away and kissing your forehead, “My beautiful Omega.”
You smiled against his chest and felt your heart ready to burst.

His New Partner
Chapter 3: The First Date
Series Masterlist
Previous Chapter
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader
Words: 1645
Warnings: Fluff, motorcycle riding, talk of actress!Reader, talk of reader being able to sing.
A/N: I felt bad for the last chapter only being like 300 words, so I put this one out quicker lol. Also, Y/C means Your Country. If you’re from America then don’t worry, there's not too much talk about her being from somewhere else. I hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
It was exactly one week since Steve and Y/N had met. Tonight was the special date, and to say that they were both nervous was a big understatement. Steve hasn’t been in anything even close to relationship in about 67 years. Y/N was just worried she’d accidentally trip in her heels or spill something down her dress. After all, it was the famous Captain America that she was going out with. Yes, she was well known too, being a professional actress and everything. But, this was different. He was different.
Y/N was downstairs in the lobby of her expensive building waiting for Steve to arrive. She glanced at her phone, the time was 6:55. Since Steve said he would be here for 7:00, it should be any minute now.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a motorcycle approaching and then suddenly stopping. Y/N turned her head to the glass door and much to her surprise, saw Steve getting off said motorcycle.
He looked perfect as ever wearing khakis, a white button up, and his vintage brown leather jacket. Simply classic.
Before Steve had to go through the hassle of buzzing the apartment phone, Y/N quickly made her way to the door and walked out.
“Hey, Steve!” She called, waving her hand in his direction before making her way to him.
He looked up from his motorcycle, jaw slightly dropping.
Y/N was a vision. The light blue summer dress that went just above her knees. The beige heeled sandals giving her legs a few inches. Soft H/C curls cascading onto her shoulders, along with those baby pink lips that looked absolutely delicious to Steve. She was a vision indeed.
“Uh, wow... hi.” He said walking up to her, stunned. “You look...” He puffed out a breath “beautiful.”
“Thank you.” Y/N said bashfully, looking at her feet before looking up at him. “You look quite handsome yourself.”
“Thank you.” Steve smiled. “Uh, I hope you don’t mind that we’re taking the bike.”
It was in this very moment, that Y/N realized she would have to actually get on this thing. As hot as Steve looked standing next to it, she didn’t see the need to put their lives in such danger.
“It’s the only thing I got, and I figured it’s better than calling a cab, right?” He continued.
But of course, Y/N being the shy and always polite girl that she is, never vocalized her fears.
“Um... ya, of course!” She told him. “I’ve never actually rode one of these before.”
“That’s alright, a lot of people haven’t.” He assured, before pulling out a jet black helmet. “Which is perfect because I brought this.”
“For me?” Y/N questioned.
“Yup.”
“Why do I have to wear one and you don’t?” She asked, lightheartedly.
“Hmmm...” Steve was trying to come up with some sort of answer that wouldn’t be considered dumb, sexist, or overprotective. “Because I said so.” He smirked.
“He’s bossy… I like that.” Y/N commented playfully.
Steve let out a couple laughs before placing the helmet on her head.
You wouldn’t think that adjusting someone’s chinstrap could be considered intimate, but right now as they were looking into each other’s eyes, that’s the only word you could use.
Steve tongue slightly darted out between his pink lips as he finished shaping it to her size. “Perfect?” He inquired.
“Perfect.” Y/N repeated. Whether she was talking about the helmet or his dreamy blue eyes, was her business and her business only.
“Alright doll,” Steve interrupted her thoughts, probably for the better considering she was about to start drooling. “Just hold onto me tight and you’ll be safe.” He instructed as he straddled the motorcycle.
All Y/N could do stare in both fear and delight.
“C’mon.” He politely urged, nudging his head in the direction of the motorcycle.
She did as Steve said and hopped on the bike, his back to her chest. Y/N could practically feel the muscles through his jacket.
“I’m sorry. I’m just a tad scared.” She told him.
“Just focus on the breeze and the smell of fresh air.” He comforted. “Don’t worry, I won’t let anything happen to ‘ya.”
Y/N’s heart started to race in her chest at his words. God, she hoped he couldn’t feel it against his back. “Thanks.”
Steve smiled to himself. “Ready?”
“Ready.”
And they were off.
Y/N’s arms immediately squeezed Steve’s waist much tighter than before, the shock of the motor almost being too much. Though she had to hand it to him, Steve was a pretty great driver. His steadiness and precision almost being enough to calm her nerves. He expertly drove them down the city roads, and it then occurred to Y/N that she had no idea where he was taking her.
But before she knew it, they were parked at what looked like a little old diner. The sign said ‘Brooklyn’s Best - Est. 1922’.
They both hopped off and she handed Steve the helmet, before he fastened it to the bike for safekeeping.
“This place was around back when I was growing up.” Steve told her. “It was a town favourite. I hope you don’t mind that we’re not eating someplace nicer. I just remember how great the food was and have been meaning to go back. Actually, we can go somewhere fancier if-”
“Steve,” Y/N stopped his rambling with a giggle. “This is perfect.”
“Good.” He sighed before opening the door for her and following in after.
They both choose a booth and Steve waited for her to sit down before doing so across from her. His gentlemanly ways were definitely noticed and appreciated by Y/N.
“I didn’t know you grew up in Brooklyn.” She started.
Steve was slightly surprised, considering everybody always seemed to know everything about him. “Ya, I did. Though Brooklyn back then was slightly different than Brooklyn now.” He chuckled.
“I bet so.”
“Where did you grow up?” Steve asked.
“Actually, I grew up in Y/C.” Y/N told him.
Well that explained why she didn’t know too much about him, he thought.
“Really?” He questioned.
“Ya. I know it’s a bit ironic considering who you are.” She laughed.
“No, no, it’s actually a bit relieving.” Steve assured. “It could be a bit awkward if you grew up reading about me in your history textbooks.”
“Well then I guess we’re safe.” She quipped.
“I guess we are.” Steve breathed out, unexpectedly happy with this new information.
The waitress came by and asked for their drink orders, giving them a smile before walking away. She must have realized who they both were.
“So, you’re an actress?” Steve asked.
“Yes, I am.” Y/N said with a smile. “I’m a bit surprised you knew that, actually.”
“Well, Tony told me after we met.”
“Ohh, okay. That won’t be a problem, right?” She asked, a bit worried.
Steve was now curious. “Why would that be a problem?”
“Well,” Y/N explained “some guys find it a but stressful, being in the public eye and everything.”
“Trust me, I’m plenty used to it.” He joked.
“Oh ya, true. What am I even saying?” Y/N realized. “It must have been hard, being thrown back into everything so quickly, eh?”
“Well, sometimes you just got to do what you just got to do.” Steve said. “What I have to do just so happens to be… well, I don’t even know what to call it.”
“Avenging?” She suggested. Quite adorably, Steve might add.
“I guess so.” He spoke.
“You must miss everything, though.” Y/N added. Just the thought of having to wake up tomorrow, 70 years in the future was almost too much for her to handle. She can only imagine how he feels.
“I do.” Steve told her, truthfully. “And it definitely was hard at first. But after a while, sitting round reminiscing won’t get you anywhere.” He paused. “The world needs Captain America.”
Y/N paused herself.
“And what does Steve Rogers need?”
That question seemed to stunt him. He’s spent so much time thinking about everyone else, that he seemed to forget about himself.
“He doesn’t know…” Steve said, before looking Y/N up and down. “Yet.”
*****
“Well come on, now I have to hear you sing!” He laughed with her as they walked up to her building.
After the pair finished their delicious meal, Steve drove Y/N back only to see that their were no parking spaces available. So, he parked down the street and insisted on walking her back.
“Well,” she said playfully, as they got to the lobby door, “I only sing for guys on the fifth date.”
“Is there going to be a fifth date?” Steve asked, looking into her gorgeous E/C eyes. The atmosphere instantly becoming very serious.
Y/N, suddenly just as nervous as she was earlier in the night, asked him “Do you want there to be?”
“I do.” He stated.
“So do I.” She agreed, instantly making Steve smile, that triggering her own.
God, she had perfect lips, he thought to himself. Lips that he so badly wanted to put his own on.
But instead, ever the gentleman, Steve leaned down and kissed her right cheek. The moment felt sweet, tender, and overall just... right.
“Goodnight, Y/N.”
“Goodnight, Steve.”
And with that he walked away, giving her one more glance as she unlocked her door, thanking the Heavens that he was the one to go rescue her from that crashing building, instead of Thor.
Once Y/N got inside the lobby, and completely out of Steve’s view, she put her and on her cheek in the exact same place he kissed her. Still warm, she thought. She let out a little happy dance and way too loud squeal, then immediately pressed the elevator button, and got inside. Did she notice the side eye from 68 year old Mrs. Crockford? Yes. Did she care? No. It was totally all worth it.

The Romance of Murder...The Murder of Romance by Theresa Brown
Tumblr media
George Stevens— director of SHANE (‘53), GIANT (‘56), GUNGA DIN (‘39) and WOMAN OF THE YEAR (‘42)—won the first of his two Best Director Academy Awards for A PLACE IN THE SUN (‘51), one of the iconic screen classics that started off the 1950’s. (His second Oscar was for the epic GIANT). A PLACE IN THE SUN is truly textbook filmmaking at its finest. The movie has six Academy Awards to its credit. Stevens takes us by the hand and masterfully lays down bread crumbs for us to follow. His filmmaking here is romantic with scenes flowing seamlessly from one into the next, using a few wipes and many super slow dissolves. Superimpositions linger onto the next scene like ghosts. His slow dissolves make me swoon.
A PLACE IN THE SUN is based on a Theodore Dreiser novel and is a remake of the 1931 film directed by Josef von Sternberg. Stevens’ version stars Montgomery Clift, Elizabeth Taylor and Shelley Winters, all three acquitting themselves very nicely in a morally ambiguous triangle. Frankly, I’m torn. I want to be a good and ethical audience member of society...but I’m swept up by the romance of the film.
Montgomery Clift gets an utterly fantastic intro into the movie. Underneath the film’s credits with great musical fanfare, the movie starts with a young man hitchhiking on a highway. Thumbing for a ride, he backs up into the camera and after George Stevens’ director title card disappears, Monty (if I may be so informal) turns to face the camera. Stevens slowly dollies into a close-up of him. My God! That beautiful face of Clift’s fills up the entire screen. Man or woman, if you’re not a goner by that point, then you need more vitamins.
Tumblr media
And that’s just the first five minutes of the movie! Maybe THAT’s the lure...and the danger of this film – the beauty of Montgomery Clift’s face. (Or maybe it’s just my moral code that’s a bit askew.) His character seems like an unassuming young man. He’s in town to get a promised job from his rich uncle. He’s shown to be the type to work for what he wants; willing to start at the bottom. He’s not looking for something on a silver platter. He doesn’t seem manipulative or calculating. When he meets his rich relatives, they barely hide their condescension. At one point, he’s at the front gate of the “big house” during a party of arriving guests. He wants but has no entry into this world.
It’s kind of amazing through Stevens’ direction how unseen Clift’s George Eastman is. At one point, when he is invited to a big party, in his best blue suit, the camera follows him into the mansion. The butler doesn’t acknowledge him. He’s not greeted by his cousins. No one talks to him. He wafts through conversations with nary a person turning their head. The hoi polloi doesn’t see him. He is alone amidst a crowd of people. He goes off to play pool by himself. He’s unseen until...
Look who does see him when he goes to work at the family business; all the gals on the assembly line. They make with the wolf whistles. Working class women see him. Here, Stevens introduces us to another leg in this triangle: Alice Tripp. Let me give a hand to the great Shelley Winters, who didn’t shy away from unflattering roles. Here, in a nowhere job, she lives alone in a rooming house, goes to the movies alone. A cog in the wheel of life. She’s a nice girl...a nice enough girl. She eases into a relationship, of sorts, with George. They drift together, keeping company.
Tumblr media
Stevens does something interesting when trouble begins for George. He keeps him in the dark: keeps him hidden. He keeps us from seeing him. When George makes his “Valentino” moves on Alice with the help of a loud radio and her living on the ground floor (easy access?), they’re both hidden in the dark and slightly out of frame when he takes her to bed. We see this motif again when George comes over to Alice’s place (finally) to celebrate his birthday after his dizzying night in the arms of an angel. We don’t see either of their faces when she has to tell him she’s in ‘trouble.’ Interesting set-up the way Stevens blocks the scene – he has Shelley’s back to the camera AND her body obscures Monty from our view. Another time he’s in darkness is when Winters goes for that god-awkward doctor’s visit (“I... cannot...help...you”). George waits in the car’s darkness to find out what the doctor can “do” for her. Why is he not seen?
Alice’s desperation is palpable. She demands he marry her. That’s understandable. So why am I not sympathetic to her? I’ve tried several viewings to suss “why” from my psyche. They would have gone on to have a pleasant and unremarkable life together. He would never know what he’d missed out on. But there is that nail in his coffin...and a most beautiful nail it is.
When George is fully and finally SEEN, it’s by an Angel.
Tumblr media
To say Elizabeth Taylor is beautiful is quite an understatement. She plays Angela and she is absolutely a ravishing thing of beauty. We see her when George sees her earlier in the movie. He is not registering on her radar, even though she was on his. And since there’s none so blind as those who cannot see, she has not seen him, though he has seen her several times during the movie. It’s him making that pool shot that finally catches her attention. (“Wow!”) She is quite a vision floating into that billiard room in a stunning Edith Head dress (who won an Academy Award for Costume Design), as though she’s on a white chiffon cloud. It’s love at first sight. Instantaneous, magic.
We can see they’re right for each other. She’s his passport to getting recognized. No no, he’s not using her. His own idea for a cost proposal for his uncle gets him kicked upstairs into an office and out of the factory line. Angela adores him, gives him entree into her world. She takes him by the hand and pulls him out of that lonely room into the party. As they’re embraced in a dance, Angela notes the intrusion of us, the audience in the dark: “Are they watching?” They are dreamy. They are beautiful.
Tumblr media
But there IS an intrusion, a very real one, when Alice confronts George with her pregnancy. She stands between him and paradise. Is it murder if you merely wish someone dead? Yes, Monty should do the right thing. Make a clean breast of things. Would he be forgiven? Would he lose everything? The thought of paradise lost is unbearable. I’ve tried to put myself in Alice’s shoes. But it’s heart over head; emotion over logic. Who doesn’t want what they want? Perhaps I struggle because I wonder, how COULD I give up the thing I want most in the world, the thing just within my grasp. Could you?
A PLACE IN THE SUN is a masterpiece of filmmaking, acting and checks all the boxes. But we were set up! I think the movie is a set up for George and for us. Sound is used effectively in this. The loons...the dog’s bark permeating...the radio news of a drowning is itself drowned out by the roar of a speedboat. Franz Waxman’s Academy Award-winning music in this does me in, whether it’s romantic, foreboding or narrating Monty’s inner dilemma. Waxman’s love theme puts me in a trance. William C. Mellor’s cinematography wins him an Academy Award with breathtaking scenes. In the movie, there is a moment in the woods between Monty and a Ranger that stops me as dead in my tracks as it stops George. I can’t even describe HOW it’s lit, but it looks unlike anything else in the movie. I wait for it. William Hornbeck won an Academy Award for Film Editing and the screenplay by Michael Wilson and Harry Brown also won an Oscar.
But I put the onus and blame on George Stevens for breaking my moral code. He set us up for failure by putting the beauty of Monty and Elizabeth in our path. I’m not a bad person...I want to do the right thing by society...one should face consequences for their action. But Monty and Elizabeth together; she holds out all one can dream for and paints a picture of a loving paradise he fears will slip through his fingers.
Now I ask you: is that fair?

Soprano and the Phantom Chapter 1
My entry for the “Once Upon Another Time” project by @a-partofthenarrative
Beauty and the Beast, Phantom of the Opera version. Enjoy.
---------------------------------------------------
Once upon a time, in a faraway land, a prince lived in a shining castle. Although he had everything his heart desired, the prince was spoiled, selfish, and unkind. But then, one winter's night, an old beggar woman came to the castle and offered him a single rose in return for shelter from the bitter cold.
Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the prince sneered at the gift and turned the old woman away, but she warned him not to be deceived by appearances, for beauty is found within. And when he dismissed her again, the old woman's ugliness melted away to reveal a beautiful enchantress.
The prince tried to apologize, but it was too late, for she had seen that there was no love in his heart, and as punishment, she transformed him into a deformed hideous beast and placed a powerful spell on the castle, and all who lived there. Ashamed of his monstrous form, the beast concealed himself inside his castle, with a magic mirror as his only window to the outside world.
The rose she had offered was truly an enchanted rose, which would bloom until his 31st year. If he could learn to love another and earn her love in return by the time the last petal fell, then the spell would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast for all time. As the years passed, he fell into despair, and lost all hope, for who could ever learn to love a beast?
===============================
In the nice small town of Rouen, a bright new day had started for all. The town, not too big and consisting of small cottages and two-storey houses, some of them packed together. Stands and small shops were at the bottom, selling and serving local products.
The streets of the town were paved by limestone rock, giving it a nice crème-yellow appearance. It matched most of the houses and lead people all around the city as it forked into roads and alleys.
In one of the houses at the outskirts of the town, a true beauty lived once with her father. Her name was Christine Daee, daughter of a Swedish violinist who retreated into the small town for both health but also escape.
Christine exited the house, her curly brown hair bouncing with each of her steps while she gave a white pearly smile to the people.
She had many hobbies, one of them was singing and found her songs accompanying her lonely life. Fuelling the fire of adventure she so much wanted.
"Little town, it's a quiet village. Every day, like the one before. Little town, full of little people Waking up to say…"
She walked her brown woven basket at her right hand and waved at her fellow townsfolk.
"Bonjour!"
"Bonjour!"
"Bonjour!"
"There goes the baker with his tray like always. The same old bread and rolls to sell. Every morning just the same. Since the morning that we came to this poor provincial town"
The Baker noticed her and smiled. "Good morning, Christine"
She returned her smile and jumped over to him. "Morning, monsieur!"
"Where are you off to?"
"The bookshop! I just finished the most wonderful story, about a beanstalk and an ogre and…"
He ignored her happy talk and turned his attention inside. "That's nice…Marie, the baguettes! Hurry up!"
She shook her head but kept her smile. Unlike everyone else, Christine had a love for books. It was her retreat into mystical adventures she could never have, and all started when her father would spend hours telling her stories and legends of the north.
It was rare for a woman to be educated, especially with books but she was an exception. She never felt ashamed for it and followed her heart which yearned for a change, for something new but knew she would never have.
"Look there she goes, that girl is strange no question. Dazed and distracted, can't you tell?" a woman gossiped, leaning to her friend.
"Never part of any crowd."
"Cause her head's up on some cloud" the Barber joined, overhearing them from his shop.
"No denying she's a funny girl, that Christine"
The smiley woman ignored them, not really caring about what they thought of her. Perhaps she did have her head in the clouds, but things were so much better up there than down below. Once getting some bread, she jumped on the back of the wagon that rides through town.
Everyone greeted and smiled at each other, starting small discussion; they were a small community after al. Everyone knew everyone and gossip travelled faster than wildfire.
Christine left out a sigh and jumped down once she had reached her stop, the book shop. "There must be more than this provincial life!"
She entered the small shop, overcrowded with dozens of books of all genres. Too bad she had read all of them and no one seemed interested in their content other than her.
"Ah, Christine" the bookseller greeted her, a smile on his face from seeing his favourite customer.
She smiled, feeling a relief once being inside the shop. The short man was the only one who never judged her for her love of books and needs for adventure. He was her supporter from the very first day along with her father.
"Good morning. I've come to return the book I borrowed" she said and handed him the book which she had inside her basket.
"Finished already?" the man asked, slightly impressed since it had been only a few days.
"Oh, I couldn't put it down! Have you got anything new?"
He laughed and shook his head before placing the book back on the self "Not since yesterday"
Christine was unfazed by the news and she quickly climbed the ladder, going to the 4th self. Her eyes scanned the titles. "That's all right. I'll borrow… this one"
"That one? But you've read it twice!"
She chuckled. "Well it's my favourite!" she explained as she swung off side of the ladder, rolling down its track. "Far off places, daring swordfights, magic spells, a prince in disguise!"
Her mind replayed the scenes, a feeling of excitement to read the story all over again and let herself be submerged into the adventures it held. She walked towards him with the book and the man smiled.
"Well, if you like it all that much, it's yours!"
She was taken back; such an act of generosity was too much for her. "But sir!"
"I insist!"
She quickly hugged the man, finding it hard to express in words how she felt. She released him and gave him one of her most sweet smiles, her brown eyes sparkling with happiness.
"Well thank you. Thank you very much!"
She then left the bookshop, skipping a step once in a while. A small change in her routine fixed everything and she daydreamed the adventures of her book while her townsfolk judging her from the background.
She zoomed everyone out, keeping locked inside her thoughts and emotions. Her imagination running wild while the need to be the heroine of that book kept growing.
"Look there she goes That girl is so peculiar! I wonder if she's feeling well!"
"With a dreamy far-off look!"
"And her nose stuck in a book!"
"What a puzzle to the rest of us is Christine!"
She found her way to the small fountain in the middle of the town. It was her favourite place when she needed an escape and often, she had company; the local sheep. She would sing and talk to them, being her true friends that listened without judging.
"Oh! Isn't this amazing! It's my favourite part because you'll see! Here's where she meets Prince Charming… But she won't discover that it's him 'til chapter 3!" she sang and petted the sheep closer to her.
"Now it's no wonder that everyone called her a 'beauty' Her looks have got no parallel!" a woman in the background sang, observing the peculiar brunette from afar.
"But behind that fair facade, I'm afraid she's rather odd Very different from the rest of us…"
"She's nothing like the rest of us. Yes, different from the rest of us is Christine!"
====================.
Not too far away, closer to a more open area of the town a Geeze hunt was taking place. The majestic birds flew across the blue sky, only for one to be shot down. It fell on the ground, not alive any longer and a slightly tanned man walked towards it.
He had a slightly exotic complex and stood out due to the red fez on top of his head. He was skinny and not that tall, but his green eyes showed some intelligence. He walked over and quickly put the dead animal into a bag before turning to the shooter.
"Wow! You didn't miss a shot, Raoul! You're the greatest hunter in the whole world!"
Raoul De Changy was a charismatic man with short light brown hair and stunning blue eyes. His body was trained, and his clothing showed the wealth of his family, along with the insignia sewed on his jacket.
He let his gun down, a smug smirk of pride on his cupid shaped lips. "I know"
"Huh. No beast alive stands a chance against you…and no girl for that matter!"
"It's true, Nadir and I've got my sights set on that one!" he said and pointed at the faint figure of Christine by the fountain.
He knew her since they were children but as they grew older, they also grew apart. She became distant and buried her nose into old books, preferring an imaginary world than the real one. He grew responsible, carrying on his family name and focusing on skills he needed.
"The violinist's daughter?" Nadir asked as he joined his side, and both watched the young woman.
He gave a nod. "She's the one! The lucky girl I'm going to marry"
"But she's—"
Ignoring him, Raoul continued. "The most beautiful girl in town"
"I know-
"And that makes her the best. And don't I deserve the best?"
"Well, of course, I mean you do, but I mean…"
Once again, poor Nadir was interrupted. The man by his side too caught up in his own world to listen.
"Right from the moment when I met her, saw her. I said she's gorgeous and I fell. Here in town, there's only she, who is beautiful as me. So I'm making plans to woo and marry Christine"
He started walking towards her, earning the attention of any other woman in the town and most specifically, the young women.
"Look there he goes, isn't he dreamy? Monsieur Raoul, oh he's so cute! Be still my heart, I'm hardly breathing! He's such a tall, strong and handsome Vicomte!" One woman sang, talking to her friend and trying her best not to faint.
Christine by now she was walking back to her house, easily passing through the crowd. Raoul tried to follow but struggled to catch up.
"Scuse me!" he tried while people chatted and continued with their day. "Please let me through!" he was once again ignored. "Just watch I'm going to make Christine my wife!"
At last, she managed to catch up with her.

Hello together!
This one cames to my mind today, while I was waiting for my shuttle(car) to be fixed. A little one shot about some crew members of the Enterprise during their weekly breakfast.
Something funny for the weekend! I hope you like it and leave me a little fb. Also let me know, if you want to read more about the four in here!
@bold-brave-courageous @allthetrek @reeselivesforeverinmyheart
Meet our four gosippy people:
Yeoman Ensign Connor McAdams Lieutenant Lanissa th`Zhinnat, engineer, Andorian Lieutenant Barian Lanos, science officer, xeno-anthropology, Betazoid. Ensign Samantha Winter, Nurse
The Enterprise mess hall was well attended, as every morning at breakfast time, a wild jumble of the fatigued members of the gamma shift, hectic officers of the alpha shift, anxious to be late, and the rest of the crew with free time or flexible service. At one of the tables in the corner, with the best view across the room, sat a sworn group of officers, their eyes wandering through the room as they enjoyed their weekly ritual that had established more and more over the last mission. "Can you believe this is the last time?" Connor McAdams, Pike's Yeoman leaned back in his chair. "After mentioning it for the third time, yes, we can believe it." He was followed by a long sigh. "And you're acting as if it's the end of the world." "Let him Lanissa." Barian Lanos, the senior of the group, punched the Andorian lightly. "Not everyone is such a sentimental sissie like you." She tapped something in the PADD that just barely fit between the cups and plates. "Or he." "Well, I too, think it's sad." Samantha Winter, the youngest at the table, took her cup. "And you're just so grumpy because you know it's your fault." "Yes, exactly!" Enthusiastic, finally to find someone on his side, Connor got back into the conversation. "The three of us will still be there on the next mission, but you have decided that you want to go back to Andor."
"Connor!" Lanissa went up in her chair. "Oh crap." He pinched his lips. "Sorry, that was really no intention." "You go back to Andor?" "I thought that was a joke."
Stunned, the two new initiates stared at their friend. With an Andorian curse seemingly too special for the Universal Translator, Lanissa sank back in her chair, looking at her friends in turn, before explaining herself. "Yes, I'm going back to Andor. I submitted my resignation to Captain Pike and he approved it. " "Oh yes, that pretty much spoiled his mood." Connor glanced at her. "You leave Starfleet ?! You ... "Sam put down her cup before it was slipping out of her fingers. "You throw up?" "I'm not chucking! I will accept the offer of the Technical University and train engineers and mechanics." "Lanissa." Barian put a hand on her arm. "That cannot really be the solution?" It was a few months ago when an outside mission involving Lanissa went terribly wrong. She had been captured, tortured, and when the rescue team finally found her, she was more dead than alive. It had Dr. Boyd's full skill and countless hours of therapy with Counselor Hanson needed to make her reasonably fit for service. Lanissa's first act was to hand over her departure from Starfleet to Captain Pike. "I cannot do this anymore. Every time there's a bit of wobbling in the engine room, a noise somewhere that I cannot assign right away, or people looking for a away mission, I panic, cannot sleep, and prefer to crawl under my bed. I know, I'll hang you, but it just will not work anymore. " Barain and Samantha stared at her, then she took a swing and slammed Connor against the forearm. "Ouch, hey, what should that?" "You knew that and say nothing!" She glared at him evilly. "We could have stopped her, change her!" "Are you crazy? I'm glad if Pike didn´t find out I was blabbering!" "Oh, such a nonsense! You just didn´t dare! "
"Sam, stop it." Lanissa looked at her. "It would not have worked." She nodded to McAdams. "Connor tried it so many times that I wanted to break his nose because he was so annoying." Now she smiled at her friends. "I'm not gone, I'm just going back to my family, we will see us again. I'm happy with my decision, could you please too. " That had sat and after she had all been silent for a moment, they nodded and decided to enjoy their breakfast. If Lanissa left them on Earth, there would be enough tears to flow.
"Have you seen Spock's new look?" Samantha tipped some milk into her coffee. "Yeah and I think it fits him really good." Lanissa stroked her chin. "Looks daring." "I'm sorry I have to disappoint the ladies, but the beard is off." That brought Connor two sad looks. "Yesterday he came without to the bridge." "Great and I didn´t take a picture." "Well, now you can all thank me." Barain pulled up the PADD and called up the photo folder of the Enterprise Crew, a colorful collection of photos and videos which the crew had collected during their time on board. "And here it is." He grinned at the women. "Ahh, that's a nice picture." Samantha marked it. "That's on the wall in the bar." "He delete it faster than you can upload it." Connor shook his head slightly. "Not even Spock can crack that code, trust me." The Betazoid smiled conspiratorially. "There is a god somewhere." "Did you hear that from T'Pal?" Barain glanced around, making sure that the Vulcan was not around. "No, what?" Connor looked at him while Samantha already smiled widely. "She accidentally opened the wrong valve in botany last week and gotten a huge load of nitrous oxide." He chuckled a little. "That was the weirdest half hour I've ever experienced!" "You're pestering us?!" Lanissa's eyes widened, her antennas jiggling in amusement. "She laughed?" "Like a little kid!" The Betazoid lowered his voice. "And not only that, she was really happy." "The poor mouse has been hiding in our quarters for three days." It was a stroke of fortune for her to share quarters with T'Pal. "Does she know you call her that?" Connor waved to someone shortly before he turned back to the conversation. "Of course, and I'm sure one day her eyebrow she pulls up will slip under her hairline." “What did Louvier say when you told him you were leaving?"
"He was crying." Lanissa placed her arms on the table and rested her head on her hands. "He almost got me to stay." "Oh, the chief is just smooching right?" All eyes suddenly rested on the Betazoid. "If you could hear your thoughts, people." He shook his head. "I mean that in an honest and innocent way. With Louvier, you always know what you have, he is sincere and has his heart on his tongue." "Yes, that's right." Lanissa smiled. "I think I'll miss him a lot." "If one can fix it, then Louvier!" "Ah Sam, I would be careful with that, the new one could almost surpass him." "Whom do you mean?" Barain started stabbing the fruit in his bowl. "He has such a typical earthen name." "Montgomery Scott." Connor raised his hand. "The captain personally requested him." "Well wow, it smells like trouble in paradise." "He's fresh from the Academy until he can reach Louvier, some stars will bless the time." "Oh hey, is that her?" Lanissa interrupted the men and pointed to the door. A brunette woman in a blue uniform had just entered the room. "Whom?" Connor looked unobtrusively over his shoulder, then grinned. "Yes, that´s her." Three days had passed since their rendezvous with the Discovery and the return of Captain Pike to the Enterprise. He had brought someone besides Spock, and since then the rumor mill has seethed. Despite their size and crew, everyone knew everyone on this ship. Rumors spread faster than an infectious disease, and when someone appeared as abrupt as this woman, it quickly became the topic of conversation. "I bet she's sleeping with him." Three pairs of eyes stared at Lanissa. "What? " "How can you be so insensitive!" Samantha waved to Cathrin when she saw her. "Oh please, you probably don´t want to tell me that you did not have that thought yet! I bet even every crew member with a spark of sexual desire in the body had that thought before. " "Oh please not again." Connor nudged Lanissa. "I'm so done with this conversation." "Spoilsport." The Andorian sighed exaggerated dreamy, then squinted conspicuously inconspicuous in Connors direction.
"Why are you looking at me like this?" The Yeoman tried to hide behind his coffee mug. "Because you know everything about Pike!" "I don´t do that! Nothing at all private and certainly not about that topic! " "Gosh, you're a lousy liar." Barian laughed. "And you should not spit in my head!" "Connor, I don´t need to look into your thoughts for that." An unfathomable smile on his face. "What do you know?" Sighing, he put down his cup, then waved them all a little to him and they leaned toward him. "The Federation can be happy that none of us is part of the intelligence service, that looks so suspicious that even a blind Dorian would recognize it." "Sam." Connor looked at her. "All right, but you have to swear to me that you keep that for yourself." He waited until everyone nodded and Lanissa's antennae signaled to him that they had understood. "Last night he sent me to the infirmary. He had to cancel theire date because there was another thing I could not mention, intervening. "
"Ha, I knew it!" Lanissa jumped up. "They sleep together!" "How can you be so unromantic!" Barain shook his head. "Think I'm crazy, but there's more between the two." "Now comes this lethargic Betazoid ramblings." The Andorian rolled her eyes. "How did your society actually manage to reach the warp age? If you've been busy with your feelings all day? " "Just like you, just that we have not hit each other's heads!" "Man, how will I miss that." Connor chuckled a little. "Well, I'd like to hear what Barian has to say." Samantha tried to sound as casual as possible, but she didn´t really succeed, but he did her the favor. "Did you ever see them together? That's so incredibly cute. He's so anxious for her, worried and in love head over heels, I tell you! Both are!" "Don´t you violate one or the other policy?" "Not really, that their feelings are so present, I cannot do anything." "Yes that's right, that's not really hard to tell." "Is she talking about him?" Lanissa turned to the nurse. "With me?" "Ever." "Not really." Samantha thought for a moment. "Once she eradicates his first name when she talked with Dr. Boyd, but that's it. " "How is she?" Connor began to collect the dishes.
"Nice, attentive." She went to help him. "She is great! No comparison to the low-flying hedgehoppers we usually get from the academy. Boyd is quite ravished about her. " "Boyd is thrilled by everyone." Barain stood up too. "Except for the Talosians, even he didn´t like them." “Is there anyone who liked them?" Lanissa, however, remained sitting, but collected the remaining crumbs. "Personally, I find it very nice for him to find someone who means something to him. That he has something different than this ship and his crew. "Connor realized how everyone looked at him and shrugged. "What?" "You're such a softie, you know that?" The Andorian now rose as well, picking up remaining cups and plates and bringing them back to the counter. "Do you like that?" He shrugged his eyebrows, whereupon she, embarrassed, as Samantha and Barain found, laughed. The Betazoid leaned over to the nurse, but she raised her hand and interrupted it before he could say anything. "No." She shook herself slightly. "I don´t even want to imagine that." "The horror." He chuckled stupidly, then put his arm around her. "You still have me."
"Cathrin!" Sam shook off her arm and beamed at her colleague. "Sam, good morning! Hello everybody!" Merry, but also a bit uncertain, she smiled in the round. She was a little pale and a few deep rings under her eyes. "Night Shift?" Sam smiled sympathetically. "Yes, my first." She stubbornly stifled a yawn. "It gets better. It's best to lie down right away and wake up around noon, so it'll be easier. " "Thanks, I'll try it right away." Then she looked at everyone. "It was a pleasure." Then she disappeared again and she was not yet right around the corner, the four put their heads together.
  "Connor, which shift has Pike?"
"Alpha." He looked at the clock. "And he should turn up for breakfast right now."
As if they had received an order, the four of them hurried to the door, and thanks to the still unbroken stream of hungry crew members, it was not suspicious that they stopped and looked after Cathrin.
"Guys, that's kind of wrong." Samantha looked around as if she was afraid to get caught.
"Come on, we're just checking a few theories." Barain punched her. "If that makes you nervous, what do you do when you're sent on an external mission?"
"Keep your mouth shut."
"God, finally have a date, that we have this behind us."
"Lanissa!"
"Psst." Connor pointed to the front, if he knew anything, then Captain Pike's morning ritual. "And there he is."
The turbolift in front of Cathrin opend up and spit out the still drowsily commanding officer of the Enterprise. Even from where they stood, they could see the two of them beaming, exchanging a few words with each other, and like Pike, as Cathrin walked past him into the elevator, put a hand behind het back, and her turning around to him looking directly into his eyes. She nudged him with her finger against his nose, he reached for her hand, held it for a moment before Cathrin disappeared backwards in the elevator and their fingers parted.
"Yeah okay, that was really cute." Lanissa found her again stared at by her friends. "What is? You are not satisfied with anything! "
"And that surprises you because?" Barain grinned at them before they all adopt a little attitude as the captain came to them.
"Good morning!" He nodded to them all and they returned the greeting. "Connor, I hope it's just a coincidence that you're here."
"Sorry Sir." The Yeoman grinned crookedly. "You have ten minutes, then a conference call with Admiral Shanoba is already waiting for you."
Pike's answer was a deep breath, then he said goodbye to his crew members and went for breakfast.
"He desperately needs a girlfriend." Samantha looked at him, then at her friends. "But that's beyond our salary and I'm late."
"Wait, I'll come with you, I'll have to pick up some more samples at the infirmary." Barain joined her and Connor also said goodbye to prevent Captain Pike from sneaking away.
Lanissa stayed behind, watching her friends for a moment, sighing softly, then heading for the engine room.
Oh yes, she would miss them all.
