I personally find it kind of hard to believe that Elise and Hunson were ever a couple, it doesn't make any sense to me, I just can't see these two in love.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, what if Marceline wasn't always a demon? What if Elise got pregnant from a regular human, but the guy left or died or something, and Elise's pregnancy was a risky one, or Marceline was born as a human but got really sick, so Elise found out about Hunson and made a pact with him to save Marcy and he did it with the condition that she would become his successor and that's how he became her father?
That would be one way to explain why she got so scared when she saw Marceline using her powers.
Tumblr media
Also, Marceline was raised in a trailer appearently in the middle of nowhere, and when they show the pictures of her and her mom at the beach there seemed to be no one around either, so I guess it's not far fetched to say that Elise kept Marceline somewhat hidden from people (probably for their own safety).

A sad day for Marta De La Reina
Today's episode was heavy and it doesn't bode too well for our favourite people after this.
But in the meantime, here's an interesting piece of symbolism by the costume department that snuck into the picture: only the straightest pinstripes for Jaime, yet ironically Marta happens to be wearing the inverted stripe 😏😉 dress that she seems to favour in moments of closure.
Like the pattern here, these two weren't well matched. Not romantically or sexually. But platonically? Marta likely won't ever have a true confidant like him again.
Tumblr media
So now she moves from being protected to becoming the protector of Fina. They've both had their moments in both roles. But now Marta has to move to keep her girl out of harm's way. Because ultimately, Fina is the one who will pay the heaviest price.
Whatever chaos is about to unfold in the penultimate episodes of the season, Fina is the lifeline that will keep her going.
(And hopefully the rest of us 😬😰)

Ilya Morozova fully made amplifiers that should be worn together, knowing very well that someone would have to kill his daughter or her children and descendants down the line, and i don't think i shall know peace after this. He punished Baghra for it, then exiled her, a child, only to then turn around and make his dead daughter a weapon. Not even in death did they get compassion from their father, i--

choose violence no. 12: the unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them (any fandom)
Rose Quartz (Steven Universe) (idk if she counts as unpopular but she is definitely disliked so it counts) (also I will take this as an excuse to rant lol).
I made a short post about her before to which I added a little bit later but oh. Man.
(the following is all on top of my head because it's been a while since I revisited SU properly)
SU fans always had a tendency to jump to conclusions as the show was still airing. Although I guess I sort of understand it in Rose's case since her development was shown in reverse chronological order (a very interesting and good choice from the writers).
I think if people watched her character arc in the order of events they'd realize how much she grew as a character. Even as Pink Diamond she expressed a childlike curiosity and eagerness to explore, to prove herself, to be...worthy? She made mistakes and hurt people, lied to follow her own ideals, and kept secrets she maybe should not have kept.
But she loved. She loved with all she had. And she almost made it. She almost successfully made Earth a place for Crystal Gems to live. To be. If only it didn't end in the corruption of all the Gems that were still on earth. Oh, and how she developed into someone who knew full well that she made horrible mistakes, that she would have to carry the burden forever, never knowing if she could ever go back to fix them.
You could argue that she gave that burden to Steven. And maybe that is true to a degree, but people seem to forget a very good episode (Lion III, straight to Video). It never fails to make me cry. Her message to Steven to exist. To be loved by. To experience. She never meant for Steven to suffer as he did, I truly believe that.
Does that mean Steven shouldn't be mad at her? Absolutely not. His anger is justified. He suffered her consequences, whether she meant to or not.
But Rose is, despite everything, a good person. A perfectly nuanced but good person who had to make difficult choices.

my eternal transmasc dichotomy between “there was always a boy here waiting to be free to be loud and joyous” and “the little girl was real and I nurture her like a kind father, with grace and hot chocolate and the knowledge that she tried her best to be what everyone wanted her to be”

Well first off, welcome to the fandom! And secondly, yeah. This “Vi is a bad sister” discourse has been happening since episode three of Act I dropped. I never have and never will understand it. Vi was a parentified child who loved her sister dearly. Powder was a mentally ill young girl who was desperate for her big sister’s approval. When you factor in those two things, as well as the system of oppression that Piltover set up, you realize that both girls were set up to fail. They were doomed from the start.
i finished watching arcane a couple of days ago and tell me why i see people hating on vi? SAYING THAT SILCO LOVED JINX MORE THAN HER???? DID WE WATCH THE SAME SHOW???

I want everybody who’s calling Ken a Trophy Husband to know that he’s actually a Trophy Boyfriend, because when Ruth Handler invented Ken in the 1960s, she was adamant that he would never marry her and instead be her “handsome steady”, so that Barbie remained a figure of independence for the little girls and was never put in the position of housewife.
Her house is hers. She bought it and furnished it with money she made in her own job. In STEM, in politics, in healthcare, in fashion, in academy, in customer service. Her credit card is in her name (women in the US couldn’t have their own regardless of marital status until 1974). And it’s all pink and fashionable because femininity and badassness aren’t mutually exclusive. No matter who you are, you can be anything.
That’s why Barbie’s slogan is “you can be anything”. Teaching these ideals to little girls is why Barbie was created. Empowering women and empowering femininity is the original meaning of the Barbie doll. It’s not that you have to be all this to be a woman, but if you are all or some of this, you too are awesome.
And somehow pop culture deliberately changed that narrative. Sexualised, bimbofied, and villainised her, when she actually isn’t responsible for the impossible beauty standards — people are, she’s just a stylised, not-to-scale toy like most others.
Men are frothing because he’s just Ken and I guess they were expecting her to be just Barbie, but that’s exactly what Ken is. Canonically. A badass woman’s himbo boyfriend.
This movie has the potential to radically change the way we collectively see Barbie into what Ruth Handler originally intended, I’m so very excited
