finished watching Silent Hill 3, and my conclusion about Silent Hill in general is that the writers understood that horror and comedy are oft two sides of the same coin, and good horror benefits greatly from absolutely absurd comedy to work well

Do you know anyone who has been struck by lightning before?  She wasn't directly struck, but my mom was washing out a can during a thunderstorm, something was struck, the electricity pulsed through the pipes, and the water shocked her. Which is better: living where there’s lots of tornadoes or lots of hurricanes?  Hurricanes.  I'm used to them.  I know severe hurricanes are technically worse because the scope of damage is far larger and there's also water damage, but I think tornadoes are WAAAAY more frightening. Would you pay if your dog needed an operation?  Well, technically, Teddy needs one and we can't afford it.  He's had an enlarged prostate for years, but by now, even if we had the money, him undergoing surgery would be dangerous with his age.  I wouldn't be comfortable doing it. If you’re already moved out, how old were you?  I doubt I will until I'm in a long-term relationship.  I don't think I'd do well living alone. Would you kiss the last person you texted?  Only if I knew she wanted me to. What do you think of guys wearing colored skinny jeans? Go for it. Where do you normally get your hair cut? We go to a family friend named Kenesa. Would you trade last names with your best friend?  Sara's yes, I like hers.  Colleen no. Would you ever get blonde highlights? I have natural blonde-ish highlights, mostly towards the end of my hair. Will you go to your high school reunion?  Nope. Have you stayed up past 3 in the morning this week?  I think so. How I feel about this character:  she’s pretty much the best tbh?? she’ll always have a special place in my heart among silent hill protagonists. i love her backstory and how it ties into the first game, i love how her motivation is REVENGE (metal af) for a very personal loss, i love that she absolutely takes no shit ever. she’s a great female game protagonist, especially for her time, and more than deserves the popularity she has in the fandom.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: nnnnno one really? there’s no one to really ship with her in the context of her game. when she gets a bit older you could talk me into shipping her with some of the other silent hill girls though.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: heather and douglas have such a great dynamic throughout the game (but also i’m a sucker for surrogate parent-esque stuff). ALSO HOW COULD I NOT MENTION HARRY AKA THE SINGLE GREATEST DAD ALIVE (well, besides ed and volle, probably)

My unpopular opinion about this character: um…. boy i’m suddenly blanking on all my silent hill salt. i know people have bad sh3 opinions definitely but none of them are coming to mind rn?? rain check…

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: honestly i would’ve just liked to see her spend more time with harry?? idk maybe it’s more effective that we never see him up until he dies but i’m speaking from the part of me that’s super invested in their relationship. i would have liked to have gotten a scene or two with them. oh also more development of heather’s POWERS.

How I feel about this character:  a constant meme in my life who i am 500% willing to joke about at any given time but also like? lowkey pretty interesting to me?? i feel heather duke is the heather i’ve explored the least and as such i’m always curious to see what other people have to say about her and stuff. i think there’s definitely some solid character stuff to think about if you really pay attention to her.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: heather duke/starscream; they can be co-conspirators together  (nah no one really but that’s probably just because i don’t think about it much).

My non-romantic OTP for this character: heather/heather/heather! nah but since i mentioned chandler/duke in a previous ask i was gonna say i wish they’d given a little more time to like. duke and mcnamara’s relationship and the emotional fallout of duke going Mad With Power

My unpopular opinion about this character: hey fandom she’s not… your scapegoat… if you’re gonna take the “these characters were teenagers who were in a bad situation” stance then you can’t leave her out of it for the sake of making someone the villain… also don’t ignore like. serious issues like her eating disorder pls.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: honestly she’s easily the least. like. LIKEABLE heather in the musical and that’s okay to a certain extent (she’s kinda sorta meant to be) but i think they should have tried to write her slightly less cartoonishly tbh. she should get a sympathetic moment if mcnamara gets one.
