Porsche Panamera

The presentation of the first generation (code name 970), which took place in April 2009 in China, revealed only part of the model range (3 versions), later expanded to 9 (including a diesel and a hybrid). Furthermore, there is a version with a 15cm longer wheelbase, called Executive.

In April 2013, a restyling was presented which, in addition to modifications to the headlights and bumpers, introduced some new engine features.

The 400 HP 4.8 V8 was replaced by the more powerful and high-performance 420 HP 3.0 V6 biturbo for the S version.

The Panamera is a 4-door coupé approximately 5 meters long, with top speeds ranging between 259 km/h for the Diesel version and 310 km/h for the Turbo S version. The four seats consist of single seats; the external style deliberately recalls that of the Porsche 911, especially at the front, so as to make the Panamera immediately recognizable as a Porsche.

Production takes place in the Leipzig plant, the same one where the Porsche Cayenne is assembled, demonstrating the presence of many points in common between the two models (starting from the engines and the integral transmission on the 4S and Turbo models).

The markets for which the model is intended are, in addition to Europe and the USA, above all the emerging markets (Russia, China, Middle East): for this reason the presentation took place at the Chinese show in Shanghai.

In April 2013, the restyled version of the Panamera was announced, which then made its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show. The plug-in hybrid version, called Panamera S E-Hybrid, was introduced on the US market in November 2013.

The second generation Panamera was unveiled on 28 June 2016 at an event held in Berlin. The code name is Type 971; the car, built on the VW Group's new Porsche MSB (Modular Standard Drive) platform, is 35 millimeters longer and 5 mm wider than the first generation, with 30 millimeters more wheelbase. The interior features a redesigned dashboard, with center console instrumentation made up of touch-sensitive surfaces replacing the previous generation with physical buttons. The tachometer, the only analogue instrument, is mounted centrally on the instrument panel and recalls that of the 1955 Porsche 356 A. The new car is equipped with two seven-inch displays instead of the classic pointer dials in the dashboard, with another screen 12.3-inch touchscreen that also acts as a satellite navigator with Apple CarPlay integration present in the center console. The new instrumentation is called Advanced Cockpit. Under the bonnet is a new range of engines, with only the Panamera 4S, 4S Diesel and Turbo versions available at launch.

In March 2017 Porsche presented the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, a plug-in hybrid car. The Turbo S E-Hybrid features the 4.0-liter V8 engine from the Panamera Turbo, but it comes paired with an electric motor. The total system output is 680 hp, making it the second most powerful production Porsche ever built, after the 918 Spyder.

In this new model the torque of the overall system rises to 850 Nm, reaching the torque level of the Diesel version. Performance also increases, 0-100 is covered in 3.4 and 0-200 in 8.2 seconds.

The new Panamera aesthetically no longer features the rounded tailgate that had divided automotive critics of the previous series, but now the tail with a more tapered and squared style recalls that of the 991 through the headlights and the longitudinal rear LED strip. This improvement in design helped clarify the model's identity as a touring-oriented sports car.

In March 2017 at the Geneva Motor Show, a shooting brake version of the Panamera II series built on the same base, called Panamera Sport Turismo, was presented.

The restyling of the second generation Panamera was presented on August 26, 2020.

Fiat El Sabry 850 

This 1976 Fiat El Sabry 850 is one of just 80 examples built by Sanremo based coachbuilder GAMC BALDI. Based on an 850 Sport Coupe, it features a fiberglass body with a fixed windscreen, luggage compartment, removable top, and seating for four. The 843cc overhead-valve inline four was recently rebuilt and fitted with a reproduction Abarth silencer, new radiator, and water pump. It sends power to a four-speed manual gearbox, which was also recently rebuilt.

Barcelona is Motor City for SEAT (Sociedad Española de Automóviles de Turismo) which has made cars here since the 1950s. During SEAT’s period of state ownership they built Fiats under license. Thus the 850 Sport was a Spanish version of Fiat’s 850 Coupé powered by the same rear-mounted 903cc 4-cylinder Fiat engine. your leg is bouncing as you wait for jeongin to arrive; you’re sitting alone at a table reserved under his name at the fanciest restaurant you’ve ever stepped foot in. your dress feels uncomfortable, your heels are pinching your feet, and there’s one strand of hair that just won’t stay where it belongs.

you’re startled when your vision goes dark from a pair of hands covering your eyes from behind you.

“guess who?” a teasing voice lilts, and you can see the smile on jeongin’s face in your mind despite your eyes being covered. the discomfort you’ve been feeling unravels a little with his presence and you release a breath you didn’t know you had been holding.

“hmm, i don’t know,” you pretend to think, teasing him back a little. “is it felix? we had a date planned today.”

“how dare he,” jeongin gasps in shock, pulling his hands back to walk around the table and glare at you in mock offense. you giggle as he takes his seat, unable to keep going with the charade because he just looked so cute with a glare on his face.

as you take in what he’s wearing though, all thoughts of cute go out the window. his black sport jacket hugs his waist almost indecently, tailored perfectly to his proportions. his slim pants leave nothing to the imagination, and he’s wearing a silky midnight blue shirt with the first three buttons left open. his hair is tousled and wavy, blonde locks falling into his eyes, and he has soft brown shadow lining his lids. he looks delectable.

“close your mouth or you’ll catch flies,” he says, trying to smirk but ending up with a fond smile instead. you kick his foot under the table in retaliation causing him to jump just as the waiter comes by, giving you both a judgmental stare.

“wine?” he asks disinterestedly as he pours your waters. you look at jeongin, unsure, but he just shrugs.

“the sweetest bottle you have to match my sweetie,” he says, grabbing your hand across the table, smile on his face so wide that his dimples show. you can almost feel the disgust coming off of the waiter in waves, but you don’t care. how could you when you have the most perfect date in the world sitting across from you?

the waiter comes by with the wine, pouring it without a word before walking away. you both clink your glasses together before taking a sip, and almost moan at the burst of sweet flavors that hit your tongue. it stains jeongin’s lips and you have to suppress the urge to lean over and kiss it off of him. you bet the wine tastes even better coming from his mouth.

you pick up your menu to distract yourself, but regret it once you take it in. almost a hundred dollars for bruschetta? you know jeongin will insist on paying, he planned this date, but you can’t help but gravitate towards the cheapest thing on the menu because someone spending that much money on you just feels absolutely ridiculous. even the salad is overpriced. and you don’t want to be that person that orders salad on a date. do you even like salad?

“do you want to get out of here?” he says, interrupting your spiraling thoughts as he puts his menu down.

“yes,” you gasp, downing your glass before getting up and grabbing his hand. he throws a couple of bills on the table for the wine and follows closely after you. you burst out of the restaurant in giggles, the cool night breeze feeling heavenly on your bare skin. you cling to his arm as you walk down the street towards your apartment but he doesn’t complain. he stops a couple of blocks later to drape his jacket over your shoulders and you can’t tell whether it’s that or the wine hitting that makes the blood rush to your face.

“you want to come up?” you ask once you get to your building. “i can make you ramen and we can cuddle.”

he ends up making the ramen, your body pressed up against his back and your arms around his waist the entire time. you’ve changed into an oversized tshirt and pajamas, and he’s removed his belt and socks and is wearing a hoodie he left there the last time he was over and he looks so domestic that it’s driving you crazy.

he carries the steaming bowls to your couch once they’re cooked and you waste no time snuggling into his side, your head pressed into his shoulder. this feels loads better than the stiff chair you were sitting in back at the restaurant.

“honey, how am i supposed to eat if you’re squished up against me like this?” his teasing voice rumbles through his skin into your ear, making you sigh and melt further into him.

“easy. you don’t. i am your snack.” you mumble into his skin, warm and content.

BMW Motorrad presents the new S 1000 XR

BMW Motorrad is introducing the new S 1000 XR, an enhanced version of the successful long-distance sports bike and multiple test winner. Increased engine power, improved ergonomics, design refinements, and expanded standard features define the model's upgrades.

The reworked in-line 4-cylinder engine now delivers even more impressive performance, with a flow-optimised geometry for the intake channels and a power output of 125 kW (170 hp). The new S 1000 XR still shares its in-line 4-cylinder engine with the S 1000 RR, providing a smooth and powerful torque delivery and a harmonious power characteristic that contributes to excellent rideability. Compared to the predecessor model, the engine power has been increased by 4 kW (5 hp) to now 125 kW (170 hp) at an unchanged nominal engine speed of 11,000 rpm. The main reasons for the performance increase are a flow-optimised geometry of the intake channels and a customised mapping. The maximum torque generated is still 114 Nm at 9,250 rpm.

Improved ergonomics thanks to new seat and even sportier rear section. In order to provide even more freedom of movement, especially during high-performance riding on country roads and race tracks, the seat of the long-distance sports bike has been completely redesigned. It now offers an extra 10 mm of seat height (850 mm) and provides more space for the buttocks by increasing the usable length and width of the seat, allowing for better adjustment of the seating position depending on the riding conditions. The improved ergonomics make it easier for riders to manoeuvre the S 1000 XR on the road or on the race track, providing even better control. A total of three different seat heights are available. The new S 1000 XR also benefits from redesigned elements in its design. The rear section now features new side panels and air intakes inspired by motorsports, giving it a more dynamic look. Additionally, the radiator trim now has a textured surface, and the previously black-coloured ��beak” fender is now painted in body colour.

Extended range of standard equipment and new optional extras / Original BMW Motorrad Accessories. The new S 1000 XR comes with an expanded standard equipment list. As part of the standard equipment, Headlight Pro provides additional safety during night-time rides with its adaptive turning light. The rider benefits from improved road illumination in corners.  The package also includes Daytime Running Lights (DRL) for better vehicle recognition during the day. Keyless Ride and a 12 Ah capacity battery are now standard features. Additionally, the new BMW S 1000 XR is equipped with a USB charging option as standard. Other updates include the availability of the E-Call feature in the USA, the option to equip the S 1000 XR with the optional M GPS Laptrigger, and the availability of M Carbon wheels as a new optional extra or as Original BMW Motorcycle accessories.
