I’m gonna need an assistant just to handle the requests.” He leaned forward, resting his forearms on his knees, and gave her a pointed look. “But seriously, I mean it. The chaos, the overcaring, all of it —that’s what makes you impossible to replace. Anyone who doesn’t see that? Not worth your time.” he shrugged lazily “And hey, if this guy can’t keep up with the extra cheese and the chaos, I’ll make sure he regrets it in a very creative way.”

Colton leaned back again, a grin tugging at the corners of his mouth. “Yeah yeah yeah, you better send that thank-you note. Gold embossed and handwritten, if you really want to show your appreciation. You don’t get this level of rich-boy wisdom from just anyone.” He winked at her, the playful tone softening as he added, “But you don’t need me to change your life, Al. You’re already doing it. Just don’t forget to give yourself some credit along the way.”

“Speaking of...” Colton chuckled reaching to the pocket of his jacket. He pulled out a box, Maia had made sure to wrap it up extra nicely for him too. “Don't say I only give you advice...” he chuckled putting the box, containing an intricate antic brooch in it—delicate silver filigree wrapped around a deep green stone, on the table and pushing it towards her. “Consider it a good luck charm. For the guy, the chaos, all of it.” || @alicexcheng

Alice let out a soft laugh, shaking her head at Colton’s words. “Emotional philosopher, huh? I should’ve known you had it in you. That’s some serious wisdom… for a guy who thinks pizza’s a cure-all.” She gave him a look, but her eyes softened, appreciating the way he always seemed to know exactly what to say. “But honestly? Thanks. I really needed to hear that.”

She leaned back, rolling her shoulders as the weight of his words settled in. “I guess I do care a little too much. But that’s just how I am. I’d rather give everything and risk messing it up than play it safe and never really know what could’ve been.” Her lips quirked into a half-smile. “And, yeah, chaos is kind of my brand, isn’t it? But I think you’re right... if he’s worth it, he’ll get that.”

She winked back at him, her confidence returning just a little. “And hey, if this all goes sideways, I’ll definitely call you up for the fallout duty. I expect you to keep up with the pizza, though—extra cheese, please. We’re both in this together.”

Her smile widened, her tone light and teasing as she added, “Oh, and I’ll make sure to send you a thank-you note for all that rich boy wisdom. You’re really changing my life here.”
