This Munday is for all of you. I never thought that five years ago I would still be doing this or that there would still be such a love for writing in my life. The holiday season is, to me, about giving and thanks. I hope that my devotion to keeping this community running is a gift to you all. It’s definitely how I’ve chosen to show my thanks across this vast expanse of my college education. My free time may be limited, but knowing that we are and always have been a refuge and happy place for amazing writers makes me happy beyond words. I love you all, you’re a second family to me. I hope that you all will continue to enjoy your time here and feel as loved and valued as you and your characters are to me and the other members. New or old, you made SABR the home we are. I look forward to seeing where we go, together.

Betsy Bunny, today’s your MUNday! As I write this, Edie is still brand spankin’ new. However, that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate you. You were so enthusiastic about Meghan Markle’s face out of the gate and loving your FC is half the battle to getting deep into your characters. When I read your biography I could feel your excitement for this unique character. I feel like very popular FCs can get blurred and your character is so unique and rich that I know that won’t be something you have to struggle with. I hope you’ll continue to explore her depths with things like our Third Degree Thursday questionnaires. I look forward to seeing where she goes, how you grow, and to just get the pleasure of writing with you

To see a writing community turn five is extremely rare, but to see a group make it without revamps is next to unheard of. I’m really quite pleased that this anniversary landed on a Munday because SABR would not exist without its writers. I am so lucky to have you all as part of this wild family and to get to see you all flourish in this community. In the last year, I have had members thank our group for helping them complete a novel, for improving their writing to a point where they got into colleges they hadn’t expected to, for finding their love of RP in a place that strives to be accepting IC and OOC. Nothing makes me more proud than seeing you all lifting each other up to be better writers. Keep up the great work, stay passionate, and remember that SABR is always here for you.

WE’RE BACK! After a brief little break from the glorious MUNday posts. We are picking up with one of our most beloved legacies, Shelby. For those of you that don’t know, this gem of a writer has been with us longer than nearly all our current writers and has given us some of the most diverse characters we have ever read. Shelby is constantly pushing herself and her characters to grow. She doesn’t solely do this with dramatic plots but with their careers, relationships- romantic or otherwise, and reflection on their past. I know that I have personally grown a lot as a writer because of her, but she has also helped my characters grow too. It’s an honor to get to write with you, but more importantly, I appreciate you reaching out every day and being a great friend. You are always there for those that need you, be it for feels, a laugh, or venting. I can’t count how many times you’ve lifted my spirits over the years, but you’re amazing and I can only ever hope to be half the friend you’ve been to me.

Noa has quickly found a space in SABR and it’s always exciting to see our new members diving right into our little world of writing. Enthusiasm is a writer’s key to success, particularly in the Tumblr writing community and you have it in spades. Though you’ve only been here for two months, it’s obvious that you are very special to our writers. I can’t wait to see your characters grow and you grow as a writer. I hope you never lose your passion and I look forward to getting to write with you once admin/college life calms down. Until then, I hope you’ll continue to spread your characters out across the vast ocean of characters and personalities here and I look forward to reading it all!

Happy MUNday! It is so rare and such a joyful moment to meet a writer who blows you away with their talent. That’s not to say that I haven’t learned from each and every member we’ve had past and present, rather that I get excited when I get to read something so new and different that in every passing moment the character development is inspirational. That has been Sarah’s writing out of the gate with Zosia. From application to dash, I have enjoyed reading your work and I really look forward to getting to know you and your character more. I won’t going into the personal things you’ve shared with me that are just as amazing as your character and rather I’ll leave it at this is: Please get to know this amazing person if you haven’t yet, do it! Paige, today is your day! For those of you that don’t know how Paige came to find us, she was dragged to SABR, hopefully not kicking and screaming, by our former and beloved member Ayla. Ayla and Paige were RP and school buddies in a bizarre timezone, so initially, she was not getting the love and attention she deserved. Through college, she came and went as the real world called her, something many of can relate to. I think what’s so fantastic about SABR is that it is home no matter how many times you come and go. Unlike some prior members who come back with new characters, Paige has always brought back Emily and I know that I have always been interested in seeing both the FC and this OC grow. More importantly, I’ve loved getting to watch you grow up and become the passionate and smart darling human you are. I can’t wait until life gives me more time to be more than an admin and write with you. Until then, I hope that everyone loves you and your darling Emily deeply. Proud of you, Paige, so proud!

Happy MUNday! Let’s all take this day to show our love to Bella. We have seen you grow as a person in the real world and become the most adult-y adult! We have watched Marcie overcome so much and still be so full of love and compassion. It’s no wonder that she’s like that though with you at the wheel. You have such a big heart and always do what is right, even if it isn’t easy. Whether it is lending an ear or reaching out, you are easily one of the first people everyone names when they say so-and-so made them feel welcome here. You’re an amazing person and I think I can easily speak for everyone when I say we’re so glad Julia brought you to SABR, that you’ve been part of our family so long, and that you’ve always been so supportive of all of us and our characters. You’re a lifelong friend to anyone that reaches out and I have learned so much from you as a writer and person.

Shayla-la! Your name is meant to be sung and today on this glorious MUNday I’m here to sing your praises! We’ve had a few people pick up Alma and though I’ve enjoyed the variations of her, I think that I really missed Taney getting that connection and banter with an Alma. So, maybe it’s selfish, your Alma is my favorite version of our canon. With squeaks over Alma to the side, Lola is an equally interesting character. I think that she is a great contrast to Alma and you’re really pushing yourself to develop two very different characters. It’s always great for the creator of a community to see people fulfilling its purpose and we have a great group that draws in great writers and you are a key part of the SABR tamale train. I can’t believe that you’ve only been here for seven months, but its been a great seven and I think I can safely say that we all are looking forward to getting to know you more as you continue your writing journey here.

We’ve reached a month of writer appreciation, how cool! Our fourth thank you goes to Rose. Rose has repeatedly reached out to me offering help and a listening ear as I run Stars & Boulevards with a very busy personal and academic schedule. She has her own business, but she has never let that stopping from offering help and being extremely active on the dash. I applaud your hard work and consistent effort to be active, welcoming, and a resource to myself and our other members. Your characters have always opened their arms to everyone; new, old, or returning. That dedication has not gone unnoticed and without you, SABR would feel much less like a home to all of us. Keep up the good work and teach us your ways of doing it all and then some.

It’s still Monday and you know what that means... It’s time to thank another member for being awesome. This week I would like to send love to Julia. This girl was one of the first non-founding members and has consistently ruined our lives with the resurrection of some amazing characters. She knows her strengths, such as drowning us in feels, and it’s no surprise that her characters are always swarmed when they’re on the dash. It’s been great to see you grow as a writer, but even better to call you a friend. Thank you for working so hard to balance a busy personal life, academia, and SABR, it hasn’t gone unnoticed and I know I’m not alone in saying I’m very proud of you. I think that if we could all learn one thing from you that it’s that we should all take a leap of faith. In your years here at SABR I have seen you dive into characters and projects that may not have turned out how you intended or lasted as long as you would have liked but you tried, worked hard, loved what you did every step of the way, and in my opinion that’s exactly what living is. I have decided that I don’t tell you all I appreciate you enough. That changes now. It’s Monday and in the indie RP world, that means it’s MUN day where writers post pictures and answer questions about themselves. Since our dash is IC, I thought this would be a nice weekly change of pace. Our first “Mun of the Week” is Jean. Jean writes Alessandra and Selene and has always gone above and beyond in her creativity here. She writes all of Selene’s beautiful poetry and has made graphics, both for her characters and main. When the AUV data-apocalypse happened she didn’t hesitate to help out. Some of her other talents include epic feels dosages and genius mapmaker. Did you know she made a map of our spooky island for AUV? Thank you for being a part of our family. I feel very blessed to call you my friend.

Continuing with our new little tradition, I would like this Munday to be dedicated to Mari. As many of our members know, Mari has taken up the helm of doing our weekly activity checks. Without her, SABR would have had to close because my academic schedule, teaching, and job impact my amount of free time to run this group, let alone be on the dash. Activity checks take hours, usually between six and eight depending on the size of the group and number of people on hiatus. Her commitment to keeping the group active and running is not unseen or unappreciated. Thank you for your continued hard work and commitment to this community and for working so hard to balance admin duties and your amazing characters, as well as for always being there for us to talk to. Honestly, the amount of advice you have given all of us in the nearly five years we have been open has been invaluable. You continue to encourage us to do research and put our best work forward. Thank you!

Happy MUNday! As we continue to celebrate our awesome members, new and old, by starting our weeks with some positivity, I would like to take this day to celebrate Jenny. You’ve come, you’ve gone, and you’ve come back again. People taking time off SABR for the real world really isn’t uncommon and after being open for so long you really notice just how little being away matters. Thank you for never bringing us such rich characters to write with. Thank you for knowing when to take a break and for coming back to us with 110% enthusiasm. It’s no surprise that we all love you (best posts in the OOC blog, am I right) and your characters. It’s funny because time and again people ask for a hiatus and pull it early. They tell me that they don’t want to miss activity but the real world is bringing them down. Then they pop back in and go “nevermind, this is my happy place where I get to do something fun” and I think you are a big part of that positive atmosphere. Maybe you read that and went ‘but he has the sads’ or something, but writing with you is always engaging. Thank you for being part of our family.

Chels! You’ve been part of our SABR family for quite some time and I feel like you’ve somehow gone quite under the radar in terms of chatting OOCly. There’s nothing wrong with not posting in the OOC blog all the time, but I do know that in our conversations you’ve always been open, empathetic, intelligent, and interesting. I’m never going to force people to share more of themselves than they’re ready to, but I do love the little moments when I get to know the writers that create such darling characters- as you do. All three of your characters are so lovely and it just reminds me of how, when you started here, you said you couldn’t write male characters. Here you are with Joshua, maybe still getting a feel for him, but he’s brilliant and so multifaceted. I’m glad to see you pushing yourself and still writing here. I hope that our busy schedules will magically open up to allow more time to get to know each other, plot, and write together.
