This image by Economist reader @schmiedmariophoto was taken during his trip to the Victorious War Museum in Pyongyang, North Korea on August 7th 2017. Mario says "The statue is part of a collection of monuments in the grounds of the museum. In the background is the Ryu-Gyong Hotel, which remains incomplete after 30 years". He believes the image shows "the two biggest wastes of money in a country suffering bitter poverty – demonstration of military power and megalomaniac architecture of no tangible use". If you have taken a photo relevant to any of the news covered this week by The Economist in print or online, post it using #MyEconomist explaining what the image shows and which article inspired you.
