just learned of Ryewhisker being a canon cat in the books when for a few years I've had an oc named Ryewhisker, who is also a brown cat with green eyes. She's probably still very different considering she's a lesbian medicine cat who is secretly mates with a medicine cat from another clan

 ok we as a fandom do recognize that the ‘no inter-clan relations’ rule is an objectively unjust law and that refusal to abide by it doesn’t say anything about a cat’s moral character right guys...GUYS? i keep seeing posts like ‘leafpool broke the code and squirrelflight helped her’ a starclan cat literally told her to do that. also who cares you dorkass loser ‘you could always tell mapleshade was a bad person because she brazenly broke the code and didn’t feel bad about it’ no you could always tell mapleshade was a bad person because she manipulated a grieving woman hope this helps.  ‘graystripe was a bad friend for getting into a halfclan relationship’ graystripe was a bad friend (though not as bad as some of yall act i am number one graystripe defender) for neglecting his friend and apprentice. hope this helps. like. the whole point of the law of loyalty is to dehumanize (decaticize?) the enemy so you have no qualms with maiming them in battle. most of the problems from inter-clan relationships come from the fact that theyre illegal and almost all could be eliminated by leaders and the cats in the relationship having some goddamn emotional intelligence restricting mates to cats in your clan means you get situations where there’s one molly (or, theoretically, tom, but thats never happened to my knowledge) in an entire generation, or situations where every romantic option is old enough to be your parent, is your cousin, or both at the same fucking time its caused countless instances of pointless suffering and the law came into being because of a situation that had nothing to do with the law. like rye (wc) was defending cloudberry (rc) from one of his clanmates (not physically attacking iirc, just shoving him away and saying STOP SHE’S CARRYING MY KITS) and then a completely unrelated RiverClanner runs up and snipes him what the hell does that have to do with half-clan relationships? wouldn’t any decent cat try to stop their clanmate from mauling a cat they knew to be pregnant? and considering chronologically speaking this was the FIRST LAW to come into existence, this means the leaders saw this clusterfuck of a situation and went “hmm how do we prevent this terrible thing from ever happening again? should we outlaw murder? hmm nah lets ban halfclan relationships” which says a lot about their fucking priorities.
