Realizing he must have unnerved the person before him, Puck quickly shifted shapes, melting into his favored human form - a persona of sorts he had created quite some time ago.
"I'm sorry. I hope you'll forgive my rudeness," the blonde man in a navy suit, red tie, and round glasses remarked. "I just happened be to watching you for a little while and noticed a few of your personal effects with your names on them." He dipped his head before extending a hand without smiling. "Owen Burnett. Pleased to make your acquaintance."
Upon hearing Russell's reply, however, the corners of Owen's mouth upturned ever so slightly. "I see. Well, then...what might you recommend? Do you have any favorites yourself? Or a menu, perhaps?"

"I realize that," Kit answered with another grin, "But bragging or being arrogant isn't the same as being confident. I don't think you give yourself enough credit. Do you?" Continuing to sketch, he nodded slowly at the mention of some nice coffee places to hang out at. "Sounds good to me. I can wait until you get off work." Upon noticing Russell's sudden change in color, Kit laughed again and winked before answering the question asked of him. "Thanks. I've been drawing since I was three, but it's nothing special. I just know how to draw what I see; no real critical thinking or imagination behind it. Still, it's a way of capturing someone in more than just my memory and examining the features that make them identifiable as a whole, so it's nice to do sometimes." He grinned back up at Russell.
"What about you, angel-face? Got any hobbies you particularly enjoy doing when you're not working?"
"Well, heh, I uh, I try not to brag or uh, or big myself too much or, or anything," Russell said, "But yeah, I, I get what you mean. Everyone does have, have something amazing about them."
Even if he found that hard to believe for himself a lot of the time. Self esteem was one thing he still had trouble conjuring up.
"And that, that is also true," Russell agreed before his own eyes widened in some surprise on hearing that. A date? That had literally just met. Then again, it didn't necessarily have to mean romance, right? It could be just to get to know each other better and perhaps become buddies, "Well, uh... heh, I suppose that, that could be nice to do. I know some, some nice coffee places to hang, hang out at."
That would be good, right? Hopefully.
"Oh uh..." his cheeks turned just a little bit redder. Wow, he was pretty flirty, wasn't he? Or maybe that was just his way of being friendly and Russell needed to stop being so presumptuous, "Heh, th-thanks. I uh, I work with, with what I got."
He thought for a moment.
"How, how long, how long have you been, been an artist for? You, you seem like you're, you're real dedicated to it."

Gaunter. Please don't go corrupting Russell Tolbert now. That wholesome bean of a man is like half the entire city's emotional support at this point.
{He clutches at his chest as if in offense at your words, though the slight hint of a grin on his lips betrays his tone as he speaks.} “You wound me! How low must you think of me! I - Gaunter O’Dimm, Master of Mirrors, hurt a young man who simply extended his umbrella in kind offering to me whilst it rained? Tsk Tsk Tsk - I won’t hurt him..” {He winked.} “I promise.”

Fantasy sports community after the reality television star won $1 million in a DraftKings NFL contest over the weekend.
Roper Tolbert confirmed on Twitter that she won the top prize of $1 million in DraftKings’ $2.25 million Fantasy Football Millionaire Maker competition, which was based on the four NFL playoff games held on Saturday and Sunday.
Roper Tolbert’s winning entry scored 180.78 points to eke out a win over the second-place finisher, a competitor by the user name “spclk36” whose entry tallied 178.16 points, good enough for $100,000. Roper Tolbert finished fourth on season 19 of “The Bachelor,” and she would later appear on “Bachelor In Paradise,” where she met her husband, Tanner.
This Bachelorette and her husband and both max enter the milly and not share Qbs?,” said Twitter user “gravycakesDFS.” “Her insta and twitter don’t have a single sports post prior either.”
What that poster and others are referring to is data indicating that Roper Tolbert and her spouse show little overlap across their 300 entries at the vital quarterback position.
Collusion Calls Roper Tolbert’s $1 million win has left a bad taste in some DraftKings player mouths, with many saying collusion between the winner and her husband was at play.
For example, Tanner reportedly used Saints quarterback Drew Brees and the Seahawks’ Russell Wilson on 108 of his 150 entries, while his wife didn’t use those stars in any of her lineups. Conversely, the winning wife used the Texans’ DeShaun Watson and the Titans’ Ryan Tannehill a total of 96 times, while her husband didn’t “draft” those players at all.
Internet chatter was strong enough to spark a response from Boston-based DraftKings.
“We take the integrity and fairness of our contests very seriously and are looking into this matter,” said the company.
Still, Roper Tolbert garnered plenty of online support, particularly when posting a tweet revealing that she opted to use Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf in some of her lineups against her husband’s advice. Metcalf, a rookie out of Ole Miss, had seven catches for 160 yards and a touchdown, the equivalent of fantasy sports gold at that position.
Odd Timing Allegations of collusion against DraftKings come less than two weeks after the company announced a merger with investment firm Diamond Eagle Acquisition Corp. (NASDAQ:DEACU) and SBTech, setting the stage for an initial public offering (IPO) later this year.
DraftKings and rival FanDuel dealt with a major scandal in 2015 when then-DraftKings employee Ethan Haskell, who had knowledge of users player selections, would use that information for profit on FanDuel because he was forbidden from participating in his employer’s contests.
That controversy caught the eye of federal regulators, sparked class action lawsuits, and got the two daily fantasy companies banned in Nevada.

Rook casually tucked some sage in her jacket's pocket on the way out. "You should have grabbed those headphones with cat ears you had last time." "I've had enough of that for a while." Lucien replied, retrieving the abandoned cane from the chain of hearts that hung from the ceiling. He should probably return that, he supposed. "Right." There goes her attempt to cheer her friend up. She hardly needed to know which way to go, her marks went off the second she stepped foot outside. "I got you a spare helmet. Climb on– Oh, wow. The ghosts are pissed." And rightfully so. Watching Antonio at work wasn't putting any of those wandering souls at ease, especially after having narrowly escaped that before. But they had to listen to their leader, who was just trying to protect them. Thus, the walls kept watching. They knew she would be here soon.
"That's fair enough," Leofric said. Although he could respect the effort on Rook's part, it just didn't seem to be a good moment to try and lighten the mood.
Leofric couldn't help but stop and double take a bit at the feelings that he caught. Antonio had certainly been taking as much as he could in such a short time.
"Go ahead and ride on," Leofric said, as he stretched his limbs out in prepration, "William and I will be right behind you. Abnormal speed is helpful there."
Antonio had just found a new prey to snack on. The younger man had a soul that called out to him in a different way than the other souls had. There was something intriguing about it.
It was easy to pretend to be helpless in order to ensnare him, silence the blond's stammer as he tried to ask what the matter was. Then while he was subdued, Antonio took a larger fragment of his soul. The glowing blue wispy lump in his hand looked delightful and he didn't hesitate in swallowing it up.
Oh... Oh, this was amazing! He had no idea why, but he felt energy rush through his body as soon as it was forced down to become part of him instead. His body crackled. His teeth had grown sharp. His claws were stuck out, and he laughed. The ears that jutted out of the top of his head were large and almost pointed. His face had grown almost skeletal, angular cheeks sallow, and his eyes were a complete black that seemed to swallow all light.
He let go of Russell, who simply collapsed to the ground like a puppet with its strings cut, his ashen skin practically reflecting the light above, and he barely moved a muscle. His blue eyes were dull and half lidded, like he hadn't slept for weeks. For anyone who could see, a blue glowing crack marked his chest, from where the soul had been pulled from. Thankfully, he was still breathing.
"This... this was what I needed! You're a good man. Didn't even hesitate to help someone. It's a shame it led to this, for you at least."
"I suppose some have a redemption arc, and I suppose some go in the opposite direction," Antonio said, "On this occasion, you are the better person than me, I won't deny that."
He chuckled a little bit.
"Of course not," Antonio said, drumming a set of sharp claws on the top of his walking cane. When had they appeared? "You think I'm going to miss a rare chance to be something more than what I am now?"
Despite all of his efforts. It appeared that Lucien just couldn't be swayed. Antonio could see it in his face, especially his eyes.
"Heh, of course not," Antonio replied then, "Well, you've made your choice. Seeing as I can't have your mind..."
The green swirling mists disappeared from his eyes, and they instead turned a solid black, like that of a long abandoned tunnel. His teeth appeared sharper, and green energy formed around his hands. He then held one of that out towards Lucien, who might have started to feel a horrible stretching sensation inside of his chest.
"I'm going to have your soul."

Patriot Games is a more than serviceable thriller, perhaps a bit out of date when viewing it now, but still a very effective good against evil piece. The source material is so dense and intricate it was always going to be hard to condense that into a 2 hour movie, but I feel the makers manage to keep it fleshy whilst making the respective characters interesting and watchable. The acting on show is more than adequate, Harrison Ford is great in the role of Jack Ryan, he manages to portray him as a sensitive family man who can step up to the plate when things get ugly, and Anne Archer is solid enough as the wife and mother caught up in the web of nastiness unfolding. The baddies are led by the brooding Sean Bean who is a little under written, whilst Richard Harris is sadly underused. However, the action set pieces make their mark and thankfully we get a riveting...

He was really going to pretend he had all these standards like he hadn't taken over the entire world, wasn't he? A useless discussion. He should've known better than to ask when this guy was going to focus on making everything sound pretty like a blasted politician.
"Some of their own decisions. Surely not the decision of whether they want to participate in all of this," he couldn't help but remark. But it wasn't like it wasn't apparent that he'd yet to be turned.
Raisu didn't very much care if the subject matter made Russell uncomfortable. He was the one who had decided to involve himself in everyone on earth's business.
"Well, Mr. Tolbert, I can see that you're set in the way you think things should be handled. I can compliment your steadfast nature if nothing else..."
"I don't force them. No I couldn't make them do that," Russell said, although it seemed to be more in thought, "As I said, it's not all control with me. It's more guidance. They still have the capacity to make some of their own decisions."
He reached down to play with one of his sleeves. Old habits really did die hard.
"They're just more willing to sign up for the donor registry for when they're, you know, gone," Russell said, "When your message is about caring and showing kindness for your fellow people, the results are surprising."
A small frown crept onto Russell's face. Blue eyes shifted away and then back again. It seemed he really didn't like thinking about these sorts of scenarios.
"If it were to come to that, I would make that decision less painful for all involved," Russell said then, "Help the one who would be 'losing' accept that choice, and ensure that they would go peacefully, without pain. That's the least I could do if both can't be saved."

Storia di Musica #100 - Miles Davis - Kind Of Blue, 1959
Jimmy Comb dopo trent’anni disse una cosa che spiega bene cosa fecero i nostri: “This Record Must Have Been Made In Heaven”.

For a pill that was supposed to help him, it sure did hurt when he first took it.
Intense pain shot through his head as the computer linked itself when his nervous system, digging through his brain and setting everything up. And just when it seemed like it couldn’t get any worse...
DISCOMFORT LEVELS MAY INCREASE.
Everything intensified, listing off some startup steps before stopping all at once.
CALIBRATION COMPLETE.
“Russell Tolbert, welcome to your Super Quantum Unit Intel Processor... your SQUIP.”
That voice came from a figure now standing in front of him. It looked mostly human aside from the unnaturally bright blue eyes and a few glowing lines on its face similar to those on a motherboard.

bonkersdbobcat:
“Oh no, he was talking and trying to eat me! Gotta hand it to the big guy, he can multi-task. Maaaaybe I can rig something up to distract him, though!”
“Gosh and there go my manners again right out the window!” The toon held his hand up towards Russell, “Bonkers D. Bobcat, Hollywood P.D. You don’t look like any criminal or toon I’ve seen around!”
“Yeah, that, that can be a problem though, even if, if the mul-multi-tasking is impressive,” Russell said, “The, they key is get-getting them to, to stop trying to, to eat you long, long enough to, to make some sorta offer...”
But then he paused briefly. Yeah, that was a good point.
“Oh, it’s, it’s uh, it’s fine,” Russell said, as he accepted the offer and reached out to shake hands, “It happens. Nice to, to meetcha, Bonkers. I’m Russell. R-Russell Tolbert. I’m a... I don’t know if, if you have a word for, for people who, aren’t uh, you know, aren’t toons...”
Toon? So was Bonkers a toon? As in a cartoon? Russell was very certain he hadn’t met a toon before. Hopefully he wouldn’t say anything offensive.
“Oh, well, I uh, I think I made a, a wrong turn somewhere... I was uh, looking for, for someone to, to ask directions from or, uh or ask where I am,” Russell said, playing with a sleeve briefly, "And then I uh, I overheard your, your problem with, with this dragon.”
@pushspacetocontinue
"Hmm... have, have you considered some, some kind of, of peace offering for your uh, your friend?"
"That's a great idea! Juuust gotta find out what he likes. Besides eating people."
