Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic
A ShadowxAurora One Shot
Shadow never meant to keep it. With the limited space in his apartment, a piano wasn't exactly practical. But he'd seen it sitting on the street while on a run, a pathetic little spinet that apparently wasn't worth the effort for repair according to the owner, so it sat in wait for the dump truck.
Omega thought he was nuts when Shadow had used Chaos Control to transport the piano into the apartment, and perhaps he was. The instrument had definitely seen better days, and it would take more than a simple tune up to get it in pristine condition again.
That didn't stop Shadow from shoving the spinet against the wall between his mattress and the front door and then going out to purchase the necessary items for piano repairs.
The spinet became Shadow's passion project over the next several weeks. Any spare moment between his mercenary work with Omega and dates with Aurora, Shadow could be found with the spinet piano, painstakingly doting over the instrument to set it to rights again.
"You never told me you can fix instruments." Aurora had noted once, sitting on the little bench with her legs swinging while half of Shadow's body was inside the back of the spinet.
"Never came up." Shadow had grunted.
"Where'd you learn?" She'd pressed.
Shadow had shrugged. "I did a lot of things while off world, Light. Sometimes I was asked to fix things, and music is universal." Aurora had accepted that answer, and Shadow minutely relaxed.
No way he was EVER going to tell her that some aristocrat across the galaxy had taken fancy to him and tried to get his attention by breaking her piano, just so he'd come and fix it. It was the fastest he'd ever fled a planet. Omega still hadn't let him live it down.
The plan for the spinet once he'd finished repairs was simple enough: take it to the resale shop and get a decent sum of cash for it. He'd contacted the shop, gotten a good offer, and was set to deliver and receive his rings, but when he arrived and saw the buyer...a mother and son duo, the latter whom was whining about how much he HATED piano lessons and was currently and carelessly swinging a baseball bat around in his fit....Shadow took his piano and left.
No way was Shadow going to let all his hard work repairing his baby go to waste on some ungrateful brat that lacked basic appreciation. So, the little spinet piano became a permanent fixture in his apartment.
Shadow had never considered himself a musician of any sort. He was a warrior, a mercenary, the Ultimate Lifeform, a guardian. Music...required a certain softness that Shadow, with all his broken pieces and jagged edges, simply did not possess. But, somehow, that didn't matter. Sitting at his little spinet, gingerly filling his apartment with the soft tones of the classics centered him with a kind of peace he rarely ever achieved...with one exception. When he played, Shadow could pretend that was all there was. Just him and his spinet, creating something beautiful together. It was almost magical, if he believed in such a thing.
Shadow huffed a quiet chuckle, gently resting his hand atop the keys but not pressing down, his thoughts drifting towards the other almost-magical thing in his life. Honestly, if it magic was a thing, Shadow could believe it, because of her. The way she pranced through life, with such light and arms wide open, eager and excited for whatever came her way...could anything else but magical describe his precious Light?
Almost without his command, his fingers gently drifted across the spinet's keys, a delicate melody that swirled and danced through the air. Shadow sighed.
"Though I tried before to tell her
Of the feelings I have for her
In my heart.
Every time that I come near her
I just lose my nerve as I've done
From the start."
How many times has Shadow looked into those emerald eyes, seen that smile, and choked? It was three simple words, why was it so difficult? He's made peace with the past, hasn't he?
"Every little thing she does is magic
Everything she does just turns me on.
Even though my life before was tragic
Now I know my love for her goes on."
A sniffle behind him had Shadow whirling around, Chaos Spear halfway formed in his hand and a snarl on his muzzle, when those same piercing emerald eyes damp with tears stopped him dead. Shadow gulped, his ears flattening against his head. Damn. How long had she- Shadow made get up, averting his eyes as embarrassment colored his cheeks rosy red.
And then she's right there, pushing him back down on the bench with pleas of "Please don't stop, don't mind me-," and she's still looking at him with those eyes, pleading and wet, her body pressed tight against his side, lips protruding in the most pitiful pout...
Chaos, he was screwed, wasn't he?
Shadow sighed and tapped her nose with his finger. "You will say nothing to anyone about this." He commanded, and tried to ignore how distracting that beaming smile was in order to return to the piano. He gulped, frozen with his fingers in position. He knew his voice was not what anyone would call gifted, hers was so much better, and he chanced a glance down to his shoulder where she'd laid her head. She smiled at him again, eager and encouraging, and Shadow gulped and resumed playing.
"Do I have to tell the story
Of a thousand rainy days
SInce we first met?
It's a big enough umbrella
But it's always me
That ends up getting wet.
Every little thing she does is magic
Everything she does just turns me on.
Even though my life before was tragic
Now I know my love for her goes on."
Shadow rested his cheek against the top of her head, mindful of the short grouping of quills that acted as bangs, closing his eyes momentarily and just breathing.
"I resolve to call her up
A thousand times a day
And ask her if she'll marry me
In some old fashioned way.
But my silent fears have gripped me
Long before I reach the phone.
Long before my tongue has tripped me
Must I always be alone?"
Her arms squeezed him gently, reassuringly, around his middle, and he pressed a kiss to her head in response, smiling at the growing damp spot on his shoulder.
"Every little thing she does is magic,
Everything she does just turns me on.
Even though my life before was tragic
Now I know my love for her goes on,"
Shadow dropped one hand from the piano and cupped Aurora's cheek, tilting her chin up to look into her eyes, shining with light and joy, and he knew his words wouldn't fail him this time. He smiled at her and leaned his forehead on hers.
"Every little thing you do is magic
Everything you do just turns me on.
Even though my life before was tragic
Know that my love for you goes on."
Shadow ended the song with a soft kiss to her lips, sealing his declaration of devotion with all the love and passion and dedication he had in his heart in the best way he knew how. Words always failed him, but somehow, in this moment, it didn't matter. Aurora wept through his kiss, and he smiled as they parted, a quirk of his mouth so gentle and loving that only she would ever get to see it.
Aurora pounced on him a single moment later, using her own gift of speed to press kiss after kiss on his lips, face, head, everywhere she could reach, glowing so brightly and joyfully exclaiming "I love you"s between kisses. Shadow briefly wondered how she wasn't suffocating before dismissing the thought and basking in their shared love, trading her kisses and words with ones of his own. It didn't matter anyway.
Every little thing she did was magic, after all.

Knuckle series is out!! Any thoughts? Does it affect your Jojo and Gang au?
Spoilers for the Knuckles series people! Avert your eyes children!
First, let's talk about the things I liked:
- Sonic and Tails were great for as little screen time as they had. And Maddie trying to be patient with Knuckles while also not strangling him was great, haha. As someone who worked at a Daycare, I related to her dealing with kids like Knuckles and Maddie's facial expressions when she was grounding Knuckles were on point. Also THEY HAVE A PLAIN BED FOR TAILS AND A TRUCK BED FOR KNUCKLES AHHHHH!!!!!
-Pachacamac is a Jedi Force ghost? Alright then. I don't know much about this character outside of Sonic X but I thought that he was fine. And Christopher Lloyd does a great job as usual.
-Wade was not terrible. I like how he has some character growth through the series and at the end he isn't a master warrior/fighter. He's still a goofball but now he's thinking things through and using what he has and his current surroundings to his advantage in a fight, and isn't just hiding and waiting for Knuckles to save him. But him breaking out of the cage in episode 4 was a bit ridiculous. What was that cage made of, cardboard? He really should have broken his hand or something.
-I liked the villains but I wish that we got to see them more involved in the story, especially the buyer. Who was menacing for about five minutes and then was crushed to death like, dang 0-0
-NANA WHIPPLE AND KNUCKLES SPINOFF SHOW PLEASE!!
-Knuckles was the best part of the show. He's the strong tough warrior but with a big heart and good intentions, though a bit misguided at times. Idris did a great job, nothing new there.
And now let's get into the things I didn't like:
-The show is %70 Wade bowling story and %30 Knuckles adjusting to earth and his backstory with Pachacamac and his tribe and his connection to the master emerald and everything else that the show should have been about. The Wade sub plot takes up so much time that we don't get to explore Knuckles. I wished that we had gotten to see him learn to appreciate and call Earth his new home instead of him just accepting it at the end. It just felt so rushed.
-Episode four wasn't awful but I didn't care for it. Also you can NOT show us the Flames of Disaster from '06 and not have Silver or Blaze show up. You can't do that >:(
-Knuckles and Maddie didn't get to have a heart to heart conversation which is what I and many others thought that was what the show was building up to. Also he never gets in trouble for running way and we never cut back to seeing Maddie or Sonic and Tails realizing Knuckles is gone, or even Sonic and Tails trying to cover for Knuckles. I get that the CGI was expensive and voice actor and actor schedules might not have worked out for it to happen, but my point still stands.
-Wanda was useless and you could have cut her out and lost nothing. Don't get me wrong, the actress is good but she feels wasted here. Her character is so annoying and serves no purpose other than to be mean to Wade. And why do we have to have the "siblings who hate each other but make up at the end" cliche? I would have liked Wanda more if she was nicer to Wade from the start and if they had a fun sibling bond with each other. Also if she was able to actually use her skills as an FBI agent to at least hold her own against the gang when they attack Nanna Whipple's house. Also the dad needed to be more comedically villainous, he was too generic.
-Like I said the villains here are fine but the Buyer's whole character is to just show up, have a cool robot fight, and die. We don't get to see him be a threat to Knuckles at all, he just appears for the climax and then is offed in a snap. And the two agents were fun but a lot of their dialogue was graining.
-And that leads me to the main problem with the series. The writing. I'm aware that the writers for the main movies didn't work much on this series, except Jeff did do the first episode. Which is why it's the best one. There is no balance between the jokes and the emotional moments. The show is so focused on trying to make you laugh every five minutes that it sacrifices genuine emotional growth for the characters especially for Knuckles. You know, the whole reason for the show existing in the first place. It suffers the same problems that the live action Ton and Jerry movie had, where the main stars weren't allowed to be the main stars of their film. All of the screen time there went to the human characters who weren't interesting or just plain annoying and mean.
And the dialogue for the show teeters back and forth between actually funny/well written and being dangerously close to obnoxious. And kids shows having jokes all the time isn't a problem. Rottmnt and the Lego Movies are both kid properties that fire off a joke every minute but they knew when to cut back and let the emotional moments shine. The jokes in the Knuckles show felt more like they were pandering to four year old's then actually trying to be funny and the emotional moments felt kind of forced.
I don't want to give any of the writers or anyone who worked on this show a hard time. I can see that everyone worked hard and had fun with this. And I had fun too. There were some good moments between Knuckles and Wade and even a few jokes that got me. But the problems I listed above are just to hard for me to ignore. If you liked the Knuckles series then great for you! I'm happy you were able to have a great time! But for me it was just ok.
Not great. But not bad either. 5/10.
Now, about this affecting Jojo and Gang. I think what I'll do is have comic take place a month after the Knuckles series. And use my AU to focus on Knuckles getting accustomed to Earth and learning to call it home. Basically my AU will do what the Knuckles series didn't.

Comprehensive Guide to Common Car Problems
While cars boast high reliability within the auto industry, they aren’t entirely free of issues. This comprehensive guide aims to highlight some common car problems that owners or potential buyers should be aware of.
Before we delve into the specifics, let’s establish that these issues do not undermine the overall quality and performance of cars. Every vehicle make and model has its own set of quirks and flaws. The primary objective here is to inform and equip you better when dealing with these problems.
Car isn’t immune to engine oil leaks. This issue seems to be particularly prevalent in some car models such as the Frontier, Rogue, Versa, and Altima.
In some cases, the issue was traced back to sub-standard bolting used during production.
Despite this, Cars seems to have improved in recent years, with fewer oil leak issues reported.
Causes of Oil Leaks
Overlooking oil leaks can result in sky-high maintenance costs. Most oil leaks originate from degraded engine gaskets or leaky oil pans. Other times, bad connections, fittings, or a broken filler cap might be the culprits.
Depending on the severity, fixing an oil leak in a car could cost anywhere from $100 to $2,000.
Car has faced significant criticism for rust-related problems, especially with the Navara truck.
Severe rust can weaken the link between the cabin and cargo area, leading to the infamous snapping that can leave the connection completely severed.
While snapping incidents aren’t common, rust issues are. It’s not just the Navara; other models like the Altima and Xterra also face similar issues. Regular inspection of your car’s underbody to ensure it’s rust-free is recommended.
Causes of Rust
Several factors contribute to rusting in cars. Continuous exposure to rain, snow, or sun rays can increase the likelihood of metallic parts rusting. Neglect and lack of proper care can also exacerbate rusting. With time, the paintwork and protective coatings on your vehicle may degrade and wear off, making your car more prone to rust.
Certain Car models like the Maxima, Pathfinder, Rogue, Murano, Infiniti JX35, and QX60 have reported issues with sunroofs shattering and causing injuries.
The aftermath of exploding sunroofs can result in injuries to passengers and even cause drivers to become disoriented while driving, leading to potentially fatal accidents.
Causes of Sunroof Issues
Extreme weather and debris contact are often blamed for shattering sunroofs. However, most drivers who have experienced sunroof explosions believe it occurs randomly due to substandard engineering. Laminated glass is suggested as a safer alternative to tempered ones for sunroofs, as it won’t shatter suddenly even when compromised.
Fuel gauge issues in cars often stem from a malfunctioning fuel-sending unit.
When the sending unit fails, it displays incorrect fuel readings, and the fuel gauge can get stuck in either ‘full’ or ‘empty’.
Car has also recalled several vehicles due to faulty fuel gauges.
5. Transmission Issues
Car CVT transmission problems peaked between 2012 and 2015, especially evident in the Sentra and Altima models. In case, you are looking for a trusted car mechanic to get the transmission repair, we would like to suggest you Service My Car, the best and trusted car workshop in the town.
Despite these issues, it’s worth noting that cars are unique for their zero-gravity seats feature.

With the rise of the cash for cars industry, you now have a convenient and hassle-free option to sell your old vehicle and make some money in the process. In this article, we will explore the process of selling your car for cash, the benefits it offers, and how to ensure a smooth transaction.
Understanding the Cash for Cars Industry
The cash for cars industry has gained popularity in recent years as a convenient solution for selling used vehicles. This industry focuses on buying cars in any condition, whether they are damaged, non-running, or simply unwanted. Instead of going through the traditional process of selling a car privately or trading it in at a dealership, you can opt for a cash for cars service to simplify and expedite the sale.
The Benefits of Selling Your Car for Cash
Selling your car for cash offers several advantages over traditional selling methods. Firstly, it eliminates the need for advertising and negotiating with potential buyers. Cash for cars companies will buy your vehicle as-is, saving you time and effort. Additionally, these services often provide free towing, ensuring a hassle-free experience. Finally, cash for cars transactions are typically completed quickly, allowing you to receive payment promptly.
Steps to Sell Your Car for Cash
To sell your car for cash, follow these steps:
Evaluating Your Vehicle
Begin by assessing the condition of your car. Note any significant damages, mechanical issues, or missing parts. This information will help determine the value of your vehicle.
Researching Potential Buyers
Look for reputable cash for cars companies in your area. Read reviews, check their website, and verify their licensing and certifications. It's crucial to choose a trustworthy buyer to ensure a fair and secure transaction.
Obtaining Multiple Quotes
Contact multiple cash for cars companies and provide them with details about your car's make, model, year, and condition. Obtain quotes from each company to compare offers and find the best deal.
Completing the Sale
Once you've selected a buyer, schedule an appointment for them to inspect your car. If both parties agree on the price, finalize the paperwork and receive payment. The buyer will typically arrange for the towing of the vehicle.
Tips for Maximizing the Value of Your Vehicle
While cash for cars services purchase vehicles in any condition, taking a few steps to prepare your car can help maximize its value.
Cleaning and Detailing
Give your car a thorough cleaning, both inside and out. Remove any personal belongings and ensure that it's presentable for the inspection. A clean car can leave a positive impression and potentially fetch a higher offer.
Gathering Relevant Documents
Locate important documents such as the title, registration, service records, and warranty information. Having these readily available demonstrates that you're a responsible owner, which can increase the buyer's confidence and potentially impact the offer.
Addressing Minor Repairs
Although cash for cars companies buy cars in any condition, addressing minor repairs can make your vehicle more appealing. Fixing minor issues like broken lights or replacing worn-out tires can enhance its overall value.

There are a variety of factors to take into account when deciding whether to replace or repair your damaged transmission rather than having it rebuilt using Porsche transmission rebuild kits. A transmission rebuild that has been expertly completed has long-term advantages. Here are a few advantages
Advanced Cost Savings
A transmission rebuild may be more expensive up front than some other types of transmission repairs, but it will end up saving you money since it will stop recurrence problems and ongoing issues that might cost you more in the long term by necessitating repair after repair. This is especially valid if you intend to maintain the car for a long time. The rebuilt transmission with a warranty might increase the value in the eyes of the buyer, even if you want to sell the car or truck reasonably soon.
Better Performance
A rebuilt transmission will function better than one with internal problems or one that has simply undergone "Band-Aid" repairs, you'll find. It may run again for less money, but it might never run perfectly. Rebuilding it restores it to near-new condition, improving performance and increasing dependability.

The Potty Mouth - Dick Grayson x Reader
Warning - Swear words and adult themes related to said swearing are ahead!
Requested by Anon - dick grayson!robin x reader where reader is very loud and gets excited easily, also has a bad potty mouth and robin finds it hilarious whenever reader is roasting somebody or upsetting kaldur with their colorful language and jokes
***
Dick moaned, rubbing his head as he sat up. The ground was cold and hard beneath him. The truck they had been driving was several feet away, rolled on it’s side. Deep tire tracks embedded the ditch they crashed in.
“Is everyone okay?” Dick called out. He slowly got to his feet. Pain flared throughout his whole body, but no broken bones. Just bruises.
“I’m fine,” Artemis said as she crawled out the window of the truck. “Might have a bit of whiplash.” She rubbed her neck.
Dick nodded, moving toward the truck. “KF? (Y/N)?” He saw a shoe trapped under the truck. His heart flew into his throat before he saw it wasn’t attached to a body. He sighed in relief. “Any sign of the thugs we were following?”
Artemis looked around, but the road was empty. “Gone.” She sighed, closing her eyes and sank to the ground.
“Try to stay whelmed. I’ll take a look for them,” Dick said, noting how much she was holding her head. She probably had a concussion too. This mission was going south fast.
It was supposed to be a simple surveillance mission. You, Dick, Artemis, and Wally were tailing the suspected Kobra agents after they picked up an unknown substance from a black market buyer. However, another vehicle appeared and forced them off the road.
“That’s the last time we let Artemis drive,” Wally groaned from somewhere in the woods beside the road. Dick followed the groan to find Wally laying on the ground holding his arm. “I think I broke my arm.”
“Steady, Kid Mouth.” Dick knelt down to check his arm. “It’s just dislocated.” Wally coughed. Dick helped him to his feet. “Have you seen (Y/N)?”
“Well, if they aren’t dead, I’m sure we’ll hear them soon enough.” Wally stumbled toward Artemis and sat down beside her. The two started arguing. Dick rolled his eyes.
Dick went deeper into the woods. He mentally mapped out the crash, trying to work out how far you could have been thrown. You were leaning out the window when the truck hit the gravel.
“Son of a bitch!” Your voice echoed from behind Dick. Dick spun, running back down the road.
“I told you!” Wally said, snorting. Artemis slapped the back of his head. Wally yelped.
“(Y/N)?!” Dick stopped when he found you lying against a tree. Your leg bent at an odd angle.
You narrowed your eyes at him. “I swear to god, if you move me, I’ll skin you alive and feed you to fucking man-eating sharks.”
Dick smiled, mostly in relief. “The sharks would be fucking and eating at the same time?” He dropped to his knees beside you, gently inspecting your leg.
“Watch it. It hurts like a motherfucker ran it over with his fucking semi.” You hissed. Wally and Artemis slowly walked over to join you and Dick.
“That’s because it’s broken.” Dick ran a hand through his hair. “This mission was a disaster, heavy on the dis.”
“Batman and Black Canary will put us through another fifty hours of surveillance training.” Wally sat down beside you.
Artemis collapsed on your other side. “Actually, only you should have to do that Bay-Watch. You’re the one who grabbed the wheel and caused us to crash.”
Dick rolled his eyes as he sent out a distress signal.
“Will you two bitches just shut up?!” You exploded, throwing your hands in the air. Both Wally and Artemis fell silent. Dick ducked his head to hide his smile. “One, it was neither of your faults or both. I don’t give a fuck.” You held up one finger. “Two, we were in the shit the moment they made us.” Another finger went up. “Three, we didn’t fail the mission.”
“What?” Dick blinked as he was checking his belt for first aid supplies. “What do you mean?”
You smirked before shifting to get something from your pocket. “Shit.” Blood drained out of your face when you moved your leg. Artemis helped you pull your phone from your pocket. You tapped the now partly shattered screen before holding up a tracer app. “I got a tracker on their car before we crashed and it looks like their hideout is in Bludhaven.”
Dick laughed hard. He was tempted to kiss you, but Artemis hugged you from the side before he could even get close enough. “I should have known you did something when you went half out the window.”
Wally sighed. “Great job, (Y/N).” He nudged your side.
“Someone had to do something while you two make yourselves look like damn fools.” You smiled, meeting Dick’s eye. Dick nodded at you, turning to focus on your leg so you wouldn’t see the blush on his cheeks.
***
“Wait, so we don’t get to finish what we started,” Dick said, walking over to Batman after he just finished a mission briefing for Kaldur, M’gann, Conner, Zatanna, and Raquel. Artemis and Wally were behind him, equally disgruntledly.
“Yeah, Batman, we were the ones who found out where Kobra is,” Wally said, crossing his arms. Artemis nodded.
The others shared looks, staying out of it. Batman turned to glare at the three. “You are recovering.” Batman straightened himself to his full height. “You are all off until you are cleared medically. I suggest you take this time to rest.” Batman turned to the others. “You have your mission.”
The silence filled the room as Batman left. Once he was out of range, everyone sighed in relief. “Hey, look at it this way, you guys get to celebrate Halloween,” M’gann said, smiling brightly to cheer up the three. “And you can keep (Y/N) company.”
“Oh joy. We get to hang out with the potty mouth.” Wally threw his hands in the air. Dick had to admit, if he was grounded from missions, at least hanging out with you would be a sweet deal.
“At least they’re better company than you,” Artemis snapped, punching his arm. Wally winced, rubbing his arm and narrowing his eyes at her.
Kaldur held up a hand. “Enjoy your time off and recover, my friends.”
“We’ll try not to have too much fun,” Raquel said, nudging Zatanna. Zatanna giggled.
“Besides, we’ll have some peace and quiet for once,” Conner mumbled. M’gann touched his arm, shaking her head.
Dick put his hands in his pocket. It hurt when the team made their passive aggressive comments about you. At least they were never to your face. He imagined your face falling, heartbroken. That he couldn’t let happen ever.
The others said their goodbyes and left. Wally and Artemis started snapping at each other. Dick shook his head at the two of them and slipped out of the room.
“Hey Robbie, guess what?!” Your voice made Dick smile. He stepped into the living room to find you on the couch. Your casted leg rested on the coffee table next to a big pumpkin shaped bowl filled with Halloween candy and several bottled drinks.
“What?” Dick hopped over the couch to sit next to you. You were wearing a sweatshirt with a green skeleton on it. He remembered you showing off how it glowed in the dark.
You grinned and pointed to your laptop. “I got the new horror game you told me about.” Dick leaned over to see the main menu on your screen.
“Wow, I’m whelmed.” Dick laughed, loving the excited sparkle in your eye. “I should put it on the big screen.”
“Could you?” Your eyes widened, bouncing in your seat. “That would be fucking amazing! A hundred times scarier!” Dick took your laptop and knelt down next to the tv to get it set up. You watched him, clapping your hands. “We’re going to feel the aster! Until the first scare anyway!”
“What are you two doing?” Artemis asked, walking in and taking a seat in the armchair.
Dick chuckled, answering her since your mouth was full of candy. “Celebrating Halloween by playing the scariest game to date.” He heard you clapping excitedly in agreement.
Artemis reached over to take a candy bar as Wally zoomed in. Wally helped himself to a handful of candy and sitting down to Dick. “Are you seriously planning on hanging out with (Y/N) all night?” he mumbled in Dick’s ear with his mouth full.
“Yes.” Dick elbowed his side. “It will be fun.”
Wally snorted, going to sit on the armchair opposite of Artemis. “So what are we playing?” Wally asked with slight disinterest. You laughed and explained the game to him. Your hands moved as you talked. Dick moved back to sit next to you, close enough for his hip to brush against yours. You didn’t notice since you were still describing the game to Wally.
Artemis, however, raised an eyebrow at Dick. A smirk played onto her face. Dick just stared back at her, daring her to say something. “So should we start the game?” Wally asked, taking another handful of candy.
“Yes please!” You bumped Dick’s side. “You play first, Rob. I trust you to get us killed in the first three minutes.”
Dick scoffed, pressing his hand against his chest. “Hey, I have a danger sense.” You laughed loudly, getting Artemis and Wally to join you. Dick grabbed the controller. His heart skipped a beat when you snuggled a little closer to him as the game started.
***
“Whatever you do, don’t open that door,” Wally said, scooting closer to you and Dick. He fallen out of his chair when Dick opened the wrong door last time.
“No, you got to open that door. It’s got to be the way out,” Artemis said from her place on the couch beside Dick. Dick bit his lip, looking at you as you studied the screen. “It’s a different color from the others.”
“I don’t know.” You chewed your bottom lip. “If we die now, we’ll lose all our progress.” You clenched your hands around the controller. The lights were dimmed, candy bowl full of wrappers and empty drink bottles.
Dick laid his hand on your wrist. “Stay whelmed. We got this. This is the right door. Art’s right, the color is different.” He moved his hand when you met his eye. He hoped it was dark enough to hide his blush.
“It could just be different because of the graphics. Don’t do it,” Wally argued, covering his face with his hands.
“We can’t just stay in this hallway forever, open the door.” Artemis nudged Wally with her foot. “If we die, at least we tried to make progress.”
You glanced at all three. Dick could feel how fast your heart was racing from just having his body pressed against yours. Artemis was leaning in quite a bit. “Your choice, (Y/N).”
“Oh fuck this.” You opened the door. It was a normal bedroom. All four of you sighed in relief. Suddenly in the game, you were spun around and a terrifying ghost face filled the screen. All four of you screamed as the screen went black.
You wrapped your arms around Dick, squeezing all the air out of him. Dick choked. “I told you,” Wally panted, hand against his chest.
“Shut up.” Artemis took a deep breath before laughing.
“Oops, sorry,” you said, pulling away from Dick. He noted you didn’t meet his eye. “I squeezed the shit out of you.”
Dick just chuckled. “I’m fine. That got all of us.” He let out a breath, running a hand through his hair. “Who’s next?”
Wally held up a hand for the controller. You were about to hand it to him when a metallic clang came from the kitchen. “What was that?” Artemis hissed, glancing toward the dark kitchen. The four of you were the only ones in the cave. Red Tornado was on Watchtower duty.
Your hand found Dick’s and held it in a death grip. Dick smiled at you. He had to admit his heart was racing too. “It was nothing?”
Suddenly, a hand landed on Dick’s shoulder. Dick’s soul left his body as a somewhat high pitch scream slipped out of his mouth. You screamed with him. Wally and Artemis jumped to their feet, shouting as well.
“Computer, lights on.” Batman’s voice barely made it over everyone’s cries. The lights brightened to reveal the Dark Knight himself. Dick stared at him, stopping his scream only when he caught the faint hint of a smirk on Batman’s lips. Bruce thought this was funny. Dick frowned.
“Son of a bitch, Batman!” You glared back at him, swatting his hand away from Dick’s shoulder. “What the fuck? Can’t you announce your presence like a normal person?”
“Language, (Y/N).” Batman frowned. “I heard the screams and became concerned.”
Wally sighed, running a hand over his face. “Geez, Batman. Not cool.”
“Very not cool.” Artemis blushed when she realized she grabbed Wally’s arm. She quickly let go and looked away.
“Perhaps it’s time for all of you to go to bed,” Batman said, crossing his arms. “It’s almost midnight.”
“On a Saturday when it’s Halloween?” You grabbed your crutches and stood up to face Batman. “Seriously? It’s bad enough you took all four of us off missions for a week or more, but now you want us to go to bed because we were having fun?” You narrowed your eyes at him. “Maybe you should go to bed if you can’t handle our screaming or go be Mr. Dark and Scary in Gotham? I mean if you don’t prowl around on Halloween, then what’s the point of dressing like a bat anyway?”
Dick snorted and pressed his hand over his mouth to stop a laugh. Batman leveled a bat-glare at you, but you just smiled at him almost sweetly. Artemis and Wally couldn’t stop their chuckles, but quickly looked away from you and Batman.
“Keep it down.” Batman shot a warning look to Dick. Dick shrank a little. Batman swept out of the room, letting his cape flick behind him.
“Coward,” you said once Batman was gone. You sat back down next to Dick. “You good?”
“Feeling the aster...” Dick let more laughter spill out of him. “That was awesome, (Y/N).”
Artemis sank back down on the couch. “I never understand how you can stand up to him.”
“He’s not that scary when your face to face with him.” You winked at Artemis. “Just imagine him in his underwear and he’s not scary at all.”
Wally groaned in disgust. “Yuck, I didn’t need that image.” Artemis and you laughed. Dick beamed, watching you. He memorized your laugh, the joy in your eyes. Best night ever.
***
The next week, Dick, Wally, and Artemis were cleared for missions. You were still prohibited due to your cast. It hurt to see you so bummed. Dick did his best to make you smile and laugh, but he knew you were itching to get back in the field.
Dick stretched his arms, happy to be in his suit again. Kaldur, Artemis, and Wally were waiting for the mission briefing. Dick joined him. “Where’s the others?” Artemis asked as she checked the tautness of her bow.
“M’gann and Conner have an overnight field trip,” Kaldur said. Wally munched loudly on a bag of chips. Kaldur frowned at him, shaking his head. “Zatanna and Raquel had other commitments.”
“Oh my god, will you look at this? You’re all dressed up, but have no place to go?” you teased as you hobbled into the room on your crutches.
“We got a mission, (Y/N).” Artemis put her bow away.
Your face fell slightly. “Must be exciting.”
Dick perked up, hopping over to you somewhat eagerly. “It’s not that bad.”
“Says you, it’s boring.” You sighed, nudging Dick’s side. Dick’s body electrified at the touch.
He grinned. “Come on, we’ll play the game again when I get back.”
You smiled at him in return. Wally started making kissing sounds. You looked at him in confusion while Dick’s soul left his body. “Enough, Wallace,” Kaldur ordered, elbowing his side.
Batman came through the zeta tube all business. You were about to leave, but Dick touched your arm. “Stay, I think we can find you something to do,” Dick whispered. Your eyes widened eagerly.
“Hell yes!” You grinned when everyone turned to look at you. Batman glared. You just shrugged and listened in on the briefing.
***
Dick sat next to you in the bioship, watching you as you barely contained your excitement at being on a mission. Since M’gann wasn’t here, the team had to use comms. So, Dick was able to convince Batman that they’d need someone to manage the comms from the bioship. He touched his lips. You had squealed and kissed him when Batman finally said yes.
“Aren’t you guys lucky? You get to mess with the fucking snake people anyway,” you said, glancing between Wally, Artemis, and Dick. During the team’s last mission to infiltrate Korba’s Bludhaven warehouse, they had uncovered coded intel detailing another operation of theirs. Thus, giving you all a chance at finishing the mission that started it all.
“Language, (Y/N).” Kaldur blushed, shifting in his seat.
You shared a devious smile with Dick. “Sorry, I meant the damn fucking snake people.”
Dick chuckled, glancing at Kaldur to only see him glaring. “(Y/N), watch your language on the comms. We cannot be distracted in the field,” Kaldur ordered sternly.
“Okay, okay.” You held up your hands. “I’ll close my potty mouth.”
“Finally.” Wally snorted from his seat. You turned to look at him blankly. Wally just looked back at you.
“If it annoys Wall-man, then please keep your potty mouth open,” Artemis said. You laughed. Your laughter was infectious, soon everyone was chuckling along with you. Dick reached over to touch your hand. You opened your hand, letting his hand rest in yours. Dick’s heart fluttered, so glad you were able to join the mission.
***
Dick peeked through an air vent at the Kobra warehouse. “It looks like a training faculty,” Dick mumbled into his comm. Wally crawled forward to look through the vent as well. The room below had training mats and equipment scattered around. Two Kobra men were sparring in the center of the room while a group surrounded them, watching. “This might be where they take new enlistees.”
“We found what looks like a medical bay,” Artemis said. She and Kaldur went one way through the vents while Wally and Dick went the other way. Meanwhile, you stayed in the bioship, mapping out the locations as they found things.
“Now if either of you finds a sex dungeon, then this warehouse will officially be the creepiest place ever,” you said, gagging slightly. The last room Dick and Wally found was some kind of lab that appeared to be growing some kind of snake humanoids.
Kaldur clicked his tongue in warning. “(Y/N), I think you almost got Kaldur to burst into flames that time,” Artemis chuckled softly.
“One down. Now I just need to get Wally,” you laughed. Wally frowned, unamused. Dick bit his lip to stop himself from snickering.
Dick and Wally kept crawling on. Artemis and Kaldur found another lab, but this time with incubators in it. Dick and Wally only found the living quarters.
“I don’t like the look of these labs, Rob,” Wally mumbled as they stopped at another vent only to find an empty hallway.
“At least we can stay whelmed by the fact it doesn’t look like they are using them currently,” Dick said, holding up a hand when footsteps came down the hallway. Wally and Dick fell quiet. The footsteps were heavy and echoing. Dick frowned. Kobra’s soldiers were usually light on their feet.
Suddenly, the footsteps revealed lizard men. They were huge, muscle bound with thick tails. Walking on two legs, they only were wearing loincloths. “We found something,” Wally whispered into the comm.
“Sex dungeon?” you asked with a giggle.
“Almost.” Dick tapped the side of his mask, sending you an image of the lizard men. You whistled. “Everyone be on alert.”
“We found some too. Ours are eating...raw meat,” Kaldur said. He sounded a little sick. Honestly, Dick couldn’t blame him.
You hummed. “So Kaldur, you didn’t find anything like this at the Bludhaven place, right?”
“No. Nothing like this. It was only a storage facility.” Kaldur’s voice softened. “Artemis and I will go on radio silence for now. We will see if we can find more info in the lab we found.”
Dick and Wally tensed as the lizard men stopped right below them and stood against the walls of the corridor. “You know, those loincloths are very tiny. Must not be much under there,” you said.
Wally choked, eyes wide as if he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Dick swallowed back a laugh. He knew Wally had probably been thinking the same thing.
“You got Wally,” Dick whispered.
“Amazing. Two for two,” you laughed. “In all seriousness, be careful. They probably have good hearing.”
Dick nodded. “Will do.” He clicked off the comm as he and Wally got comfortable, waiting to see what the lizard men were going to do.
***
It turned out, much to Dick’s dismay, that the lizard men had very good hearing. Dick held his stomach as he rolled onto his back. He turned his head to see Wally and Artemis unconscious. The lizard men found Kaldur and Artemis first. Dick and Wally moved to help them before getting caught themselves.
Dick looked around. He remembered being dragged by his foot into another room. The floor felt soft under him. He recognized the ceiling as the training room they found earlier.
“Do what you will with us, but know the Justice League is on their way,” Kaldur said calmly. Dick turned his head, blinking in surprise. Kaldur was facing down one of the lizard men. The lizard man just flicked his tongue at him before pushing Kaldur to the ground.
Dick acted like he was going to scratch his ear, but tapped his comm to signal you.
“What’s up?” You sounded calm, yet slightly bored.
“SOS,” Dick coughed, rolling out of the way as a lizard man almost stomped on him.
“I know. Help is on the way once I can figure out how to fly this damn thing. Bioship, be nice to me, huh?” you said through the comm.
Kaldur grabbed Dick and pulled him out of the way of a charging lizard man. “You noticed Kobra disappeared?” Dick said, checking the room only to see lizard men.
“Yes.” Kaldur grabbed his water bearers. “(Y/N), call for back up,” Kaldur said into the comm.
“Back up is incoming.” Your voice sounded so confident. Dick felt slightly worried. “Tell the lizards to keep their loincloths on.”
“Oh boy,” Dick said. Dick and Kaldur stood back to back, preparing to fight off the lizards. Artemis stirred a few feet away and went over to pull Wally out of the harm’s way. She tapped his cheeks and tried to bring him around.
Kaldur and Dick tensed, ready for the first attack before an explosion shook the building. “You may want to take cover,” you warned. Dick and Kaldur shared a look before sprinted over to Artemis and Wally. Both of them dragged them behind a set of barbells as the far wall boomed to reveal the Bioship with cannons out.
“This is the cops. Drop to your knees and please keep the loincloths on because no one wants to see lizard dick today, thank you.” Your voice boomed throughout the building.
“I didn’t know Bioship had a PA system,” Artemis mumbled in surprise. Kaldur’s face fell into his hands. His ears were bright red.
Dick chuckled. “I bet (Y/N) asked Bioship to make one.” You were so cool. A thrill shivered down Dick’s spine.
The lizards didn’t drop, so you opened fire. All the lizards were down in a few seconds. Stunned, not dead. Dick whistled. He reminded himself never to play Call of Duty with you. You would probably snipe him before he could even breathe.
“Justice League should be here ‘in a flash’ according to the Flash,” you said through the comms. Dick could hear the laughter in your voice.
Kaldur cleared his throat. “Thank you, (Y/N). Although, watch your language next time.”
Wally moaned, sitting up with Artemis’ help. “Lizard dicks. I can’t believe they said lizard dicks.”
Artemis snorted before bursting out laughing. Dick joined her, unable to stop himself. He heard you laughing with them through the comm. Even Kaldur smiled and rolled his eyes. Dick knew your loudness and potty mouth weren’t for everyone, but he loved it because it was so you.

Venturing into the End Zone is always a risk.
For most it is the risk of hostile confrontation. In the years since the EMP disaster destroyed the functionality of all electronic devices the world has become darker. Harsher. Stranger. Extreme weather fronts and depleting resources have resulted in almost all persons developing a kind of Machiavellian mentality- every man, or woman, for themselves. As a result, the good nature of humanity can no longer be trusted, and therefore it is better to avoid other people as much as is possible.
Avoiding people has always been Erik’s strong point. Even before the catastrophic events that took place just over a decade ago Erik has never much willingly sought out the company of others. It was always safer to live in isolation, as much as practically possible, and so when the world began to fall apart it was very easy for Erik to pack up what little possessions he had and head for the wilderness; a small hunting cabin in a remote location in the mountains that soon became his permanent home. Far enough away from civilisation that he would not be disturbed, but close enough that he could seek out supplies when necessary. Like today.
As Erik heads deeper into the End Zone he can’t help but look around apprehensively. What once was a thriving coastal town is now row after row of boarded up houses half-buried in snowdrifts, fronted by broken down cars and trucks all rendered inoperable by the EMP. The only vehicles still viable are older models without electronic parts, like the large magenta truck Erik is driving. The nature of Erik’s mutation- his ability to manipulate metal ore and metallic energy fields- has meant he has been able to keep the vehicle going a lot longer than most, and that makes him a target. Humanity can be hostile at the best of times, but even more so when their very chance of survival is at stake.
Erik pulls into a side road, manoeuvring the truck down a narrow alleyway behind the back of an old superstore. After parking up he uses his powers to drag a large metal sheet- presumably once part of the superstore’s roof- in front of the vehicle to hide it from view. What the sheeting doesn’t hide the snow surely will; dense flurries continuing to fall down as Erik turns away from the truck, pulling the hood of his coat over his head and zipping up the front as high as it will go. These days the temperature rarely gets above zero, and as such warm clothing is essential to combat the chill. Often though it doesn’t really help, and the possibility of freezing to death is a very real threat. If the EMP hadn’t made it clear the weather certainly does- the planet has had enough of being mistreated, and it is trying to rid itself of humankind once and for all.
Part of Erik can’t help but grimly wish it luck. He has never been very fond of his fellow man, or woman- even the mutant ones. If the world wants to kill them all then so be it, only... he can’t just give up. It is not in Erik’s nature to surrender, and so he finds himself fighting for survival each day- some days harder than others- and knows he will continue to try for as long as it takes.
Mercifully the snow starts to thin out as Erik nears his destination. In the distance he can see the lights coming from the market, a hazy glow in the air illuminating each shimmering flake of snow as it falls to the ground. Sounds can be heard too- a hum of activity that confirms to Erik that the monthly event looks to be as busy as ever. Every time Erik is driven by necessity to attend he hopes it will be quieter than it was the last time, but it never is. The world may be dying, but evidently there are still enough people left in it to be drawn together like this.
As Erik approaches the building he slips one hand into the pocket of his jacket, running his fingers over the two small metal balls contained there. Carrying a gun wouldn’t be unusual given the current circumstances but Erik has never liked firearms, and his method of defence enables him to have the element of surprise if needed. It has been needed, more often than Erik would like, and therefore he knows only too well the damage that can be caused with the right application of force and pressure. The intention is to avoid confrontation if possible- to just get in, get the necessary supplies, and get out without incident- but if that can’t be done at least Erik has the means to defend himself. Which is more than can be said for others...
The door to the building swings open and the first thing Erik sees is them, though he tries not to. The large hall is stocked full of merchants- people buying and selling supplies of all varieties; food, water, medicine, building materials, clothing, weapons. But there are people too- not trading, but being traded. Bought and sold, for whatever means their purchaser desires. In a post-apocalyptic world the possibilities are limitless, and horrifying... As Erik begins to walk past, attempting to just ignore their presence, he can’t help feeling grateful that he has the means to prevent himself from succumbing to such a fate.
Get in, get supplies, get out...
Voices clamour for attention- sellers touting their wares, buyers trying to secure a bargain. It’s too loud. The isolation of Erik’s day-to-day life has made it harder than ever for him to be around others, and every moment spent inside the market hall is distinctly unpleasant. He needs to just find what he is looking for so he can leave as soon as possible. There is no time for distraction or delay.
Across the room Erik sees what he needs- the trio of traders he usually deals with, who will have everything he requires and won’t try to engage with him any more than is necessary. The noise seems to lessen as Erik centres his focus and begins to cross the room, edging past throngs of bartering patrons, ignoring anyone who tries to engage with him. He doesn’t look to the side, doesn’t inspect the array of goods on offer, doesn’t get distracted, until--
Blue... So much of the world is muted now, little more than shades of black and white blurring together, with nothing bright or alive about it. Consequently the sudden shock of colour in that moment is so compelling and so vivid. It forces Erik come to a sudden halt before he can think to correct himself. Immediately the nearby seller starts to try to engage with Erik, listing off the varied and numerous features of the wares on offer, but Erik does not hear them. There are perhaps twenty people there in front of Erik but in that moment he sees only one.
Pale, freckled skin. Dark hair that curls at the ends. A face half-obscured by the thick, leather muzzle covering his mouth and jaw. And the eyes... Erik doesn’t think he has ever seen a shade of blue so vivid before. Instantly he feels it, there in his gut. He has never wanted anything more.
This wasn’t the plan. Get in, get supplies, get out... Erik repeats the mantra to himself, tries to make it a command. But the frightened specimen on his knees in front of Erik stops looking frantically around the room for the first time, lifts his head up, stares directly at Erik.
The words come out before Erik can think to stop them.
“How much for this one?”

Kuroo Tetsurou x F!Reader
(n.) no longer feeling any affection for someone you once loved.
─── ・ 。☆: *. 500 MASTERLIST .* :☆゚. ───
The sky was painted orange right now, children running around the beautiful neighbourhood with a smile plastered on their faces, ready to come back home to the embrace of their parents.
You leaned on the window pane with a cup of tea on your hand, sipping it slowly as your mind wandered somewhere.
There's an old couple right across your house. At this time of day, they would get out from their humble abode, walking together side by side to god knows where and came back around an hour after.
You love to see them as they walk and circled their arms around each other. Their faces were full of wrinkles, showing the world about how much time they had spent on this earth. But those wrinkles didn't lessen the love that they radiate through for each other.
And you wish, you really wish that you could still have something like that.
Your eyes darted to the man that was now seated on the couch, mindlessly changing the channel on the television. Boredom emblazoned on his facade that was once full of excitement.
He used to know when your eyes fell to his figure, and he would cheekily do something that made you blush. He would always tease you, grinning when he knew that you were flustered.
Usually, you would tackle him, and he would open up his arms wide for you. He pampered you with love, chuckling together as the television became mere accessories.
But you couldn't have that anymore, not when the two of you were now just two people that live in the same house. Without feelings, without love, like there were no memories lingering on every crook of the house.
He turned his head to look at you, finally realised that you were standing there, eyes locked on his figure. Your breath hitched, hoping that maybe he would change his mind, saying that it was all a mistake.
"Have you packed your bags?" And you swore the clock stopped ticking at this moment, "You should get done with it, the buyers would arrive tomorrow at dusk."
You bit your lips, trying hard to control your emotion. Just one more day, you only have to bear with him a little longer,
"I will finish it today," You walked past him, trying not to break down in front of the man that once would grab your hand immediately, knowing that something troubling your mind, "You don't have to worry about me procrastinating, Kuroo."
He let out a long sigh once you were out of the room away from him. It still hurt, burning every time you called him by his last name. But he brought this all to himself, and there's nothing he could do beside accepting what has been done.
It was night time, and you would always read in the living room while you waited for your husband to come back home. The clock kept ticking, making you frown as it was past his shift already.
The jingle of keys being turned made you stand up immediately, giddy to finally see him after a long day of work. He mumbled under his breath that it was home.
You throw yourself at him, waiting for his laugh and kisses that he would always give you every time he was coming home from the hospital. So it shocked you when you were being shoved to the ground, producing a loud thud as you fell.
He widened his eyes in horror when he realised what he had done. Your eyes filled with fear as you stared at your husband. The black haired man immediately threw away his bag and squatted down in front of you.
"I am so sorry," He was panicking inside, looking at how fragile you were right now, "Today was so stressful, and I-" It was all just an excuse, "I am so stupid oh god, I am sorry."
Slowly, he wrapped his arms around you. Letting you know that he didn't mean any of his action from before. You finally came out from your shock, whimpering as you were engulfed in his embrace.
You bathe yourself on his warmth, the arms that you called home since you made a vow on your wedding day two years ago. You wanted to forget his action, accepting his excuse for doing so.
But you couldn't stop your mind from thinking when you feel his breath on you, reeking with alcohol and expensive perfume.
The last box was now up on the truck, ready to be sent to your parents house. The commotion dragged people's attention, making the neighbourhood gather around the house at some point.
You stood there under the bright sun that punctured your skin as sweat started to roll down your face. Your eyes focusing on the man who would deliver all of your stuff away from here.
This would be the last time you could see the flowers bloom. You wouldn't be here anymore to see them next spring, adorning the yard that now looked so lonely.
"Dear, are you moving out?" You jolted when you heard someone talk beside you. You turned your head to find Mrs. Saitou, your neighbour that was always enjoying her life with her husband, the neighbour across your house.
"A-Ah, yes, I do." There's a sadness emitted from her eyes when she heard your answer.
"That's too bad," She shook his head and frowned a little, "I always enjoy your smile, Kuroo-san." Your body went rigid all of a sudden, and she could know immediately what was happening, "Oh my god, you-"
"Yes," You nodded, averting your gaze away from her eyes that you know would show pity, "We, we didn't work out." Your voice cracked at the last word, making you curse yourself.
You couldn't help it. It was still too much to endure. The pain and the realisation. The fact that he just threw away two years of marriage was something that your heart couldn't grasp.
"I am sorry, I need to do... stuff." You felt like a wimp as you bowed and ran inside your home. No, not your home anymore. It was just now a house that once filled with your love.
But now it was just a place filled with memories, and it will be replaced by another when you are out completely.
Tears were rolling down your face as you bit on the blanket that wrapped around your body. Your whole body is shivering with how cold it was right now. It was not the air that you couldn't cope with, it was the fact that you couldn't feel any warmth radiated from the man who was now sleeping safe and sound beside you.
Holding back all of your pain, you wouldn't show him what has been ringing inside your mind. It was like someone just put a stake on your heart, making your heart aches on every move you made.
You didn't want to acknowledge what was happening in your marriage right now. And you cursed yourself for knowing the black haired man too much, making all of your insecurity emerge to the top.
You knew what was happening once he started to come home late.
You knew what was happening when he didn't kiss you goodnight anymore.
You knew what was happening when he was no longer saying the magic words at you.
You knew all of the habits that were long gone, but you didn't want to accept it. So you torture youself every day, wishing that it would change in the future.
But it's been months since your marriage fell down to the pit of hell. And nothing could fix this broken relationship, not anymore. Because it wasn't wrecked by something that came out from outside.
The downfall was caused by the couple themself. Or to be exact, it was all because one particular man. The one who was now laying next to you, the one who loves you with all of his heart.
At least, that was what happened before.
Your finger grazed at the couch, remembering all of the night you two shared. Sometimes, he would be too tired to go on a date. So you would prepare some snacks and his favourite movie, enjoying each other's company without a care in this world.
The walls that were once filled with the photograph of the two of you, was now filled with emptiness instead. The empty spots kept reminding you that this place was no longer yours.
You walked towards the kitchen, sun adorning the room through the windows, touching every single kitchen set on the island. There's nothing out of place, everything arranged delicately, just like the first time you arrived in this house with your beloved once.
Your eyes darted to the kitchen island on one particular stool, the place that your love always sat every morning. He woke up first, due to the shift that he had in the hospital. You would go down the stairs, and he would be there, offering you a cup of coffee while he already wears his lab coat.
But it was just silent now, you stared into the empty space. The coffee maker wasn't there anymore. You were the one who bought it to help him get through the early morning, so you could choose what you want to do with it.
Keeping it would always remind you of the relationship that didn't work out, so you decided to give it to your neighbours, saying that you didn't need it anymore.
Underneath all of your calm facade, your heart wouldn't stop blaring to the fact that you had lost. You lost the one person that you love so much, to something that even the universe couldn't explain why.
You walked slowly downstairs, his shirt wrapped around your figure perfectly. Your eyes fell towards the handsome man that sat on the stool. Red glasses seated on his nose as he read something from his phone.
The morning sun adorning his figure, producing a lovely orange hue that made him even look more perfect than he already was. You walked towards him, he smiled when he felt your arms gently wrapped around his neck from behind.
He turned his head, kissing you with passion as the sun becoming your own spotlight while the two of you shared your love.
That was what would happen two years ago. And now, you could only stare at him through the last stair, waiting for him to acknowledge your presence and give you his warm smile.
You waited, and waited. Seconds turned into minutes, and that's when you knew you didn't want to get through this moment every single day until the end of your life.
"Tetsurou," He jolted when he heard you calling out your name. His eyes fell to your figure, a smirk playing in his face when he saw your attire, "Focus on my eyes,"
He chuckled, but it went away immediately when he saw the expression that was lingered on your face. It's like he knew what would happen today, so he put down his phone, focusing solely on his wife that was always there on every step of his way since junior high.
You caressed your own arms with your hand, shaking your head as you let out a long sigh. The silence was starting to kill him inside, but he knew well to give you time.
"Let's just get a divorce." But he didn't expect that to be the first sentence that was out from you.
With speed, he stood up, eyes blazing with confusion. And at the same time, he was relieved when he heard the words. You snorted when you saw his eyes, eyes that didn't show any kind of pain or sorrow.
There's nothing there inside his hazel colored eyes that you would always love to drown into. No sadness or anguish, really in contrast with yours.
"You know?" He leaned himself on the kitchen island, eyes only filled with guilt as he saw you gave him a faint smile, "Oh god, you knew all along."
At this time, he felt like his soul just left his body. You were standing there with a visage that he couldn't grasp. Your figure was only three feet apart from him, but it felt like you were standing so far.
"Of course," You chuckled bitterly from his sentence, "I know you like the back of my hand, my love." You called him with the simple nickname, the nickname that you chose since years ago. Because to you, he was indeed your love.
Even until now as you stood in front of him, asking for a divorce.
"W-Why didn't you say anything? For god sake, (Y/n)!" He didn't know why he was the one who was screaming and shouting. You should be the one who felt like this life is unfair, not him.
So why was he the first person who shed tears in the room, even the two of you couldn't answer that.
You trod towards the man who now looked so broken. He sobbed uncontrollably, his breath felt so heavy as his sight was blurred by the overflowing tears.
Slowly, you put your palm on his cheek, making him cry harder when he realised it would be the last time he felt your touch in his life,
"I-I am so sorry," He cursed himself, cursing the universe to ripped his love towards you from his heart, "I didn't want t-this, I promise you I don't!"
When he started to come home late, he was spending time with his high school friends. Knowing that if he spent too much time at home, you would know immediately that something was amiss.
He still gave you kisses every morning and night. But it was more like a formality peck, something that he needed to do, not something that he wanted to do anymore.
And when you didn't hear the three words that he always loves to say to you, you knew for sure this man was long gone.
He was still the same Kuroo Tetsurou that you support in every match in high school. He was still the same Kuroo Tetsurou that you kissed before going to work. He was still the same Kuroo Tetsurou that has your whole heart.
The only difference that you could find, was the fact that it's not the same Kuroo Tetsurou who promised to you in front of your family and friends, that he would spend his whole life with you.
"It's alright," Your voice sounded like an angel, reassuring him that it's not his fault, "Say it, Tetsu... I need to hear you say it..."
He shook his head, still couldn't believe that he was no longer falling in love with you. He broke your heart into pieces, and yet here you were, the one who comforted him that it was alright, "Please,"
"I-" You know too well that you still love him with all of your heart, so you need it. You need to hear him say the words. You need him to break your heart completely, "I didn't love you anymore."
There. That was enough to make you shed all of the tears that you held inside before, falling free into your cheeks as you pulled him to your embrace.
Both of you felt like someone just pushed you together into an endless pit. To the place that was dark and cold. To the place where no one could save either him or you.
So the two of you bathe together in each other embrace, trying to give comfort while the two of you are just the same, only a broken human. If only you could, you would sue the universe, screaming that even he didn't want to feel this.
He didn't want to stop loving you, but it happened either way.
You put your head on his chest, feeling how his heart was beating so fast. His large hand that usually stroked your hair playfully, was now seating on your hair, trembling all over.
He cupped your cheek, looking straight into your eyes that were still glossed by the tears. For the last time, he wanted to gaze and remember it forever in his heart.
It was the eyes that always looked at him with love and admiration. And now he wondered, how his eyes looked from your side.
"You were still my wife, right?" You blinked, didn't know where this conversation going,
"Today? Yes." There's something that you could find from his eyes. The last remaining of his love towards you, coated with a little glimpse of lust. He opened up his mouth, trying to ask you about one thing that he was sure you would decline, "It's alright."
"What?" He widened his eyes. Your face wasn't changed at all, "What do you mean by that, (Y/n)?" He scanned your face, searching for any kind of sign that you were just joking around.
"Let's spend today, like we always did." You grasped his hand, splay it to analogize how different his hand was compared to yours, "We could cook breakfast together, dancing around like a madman as we do so," Your mind wandered to the golden era of your marriage, "Let's go outside, watching cinema and show the world how in love we was."
He would miss this, looking at your face as your eyes lit up with excitement. It hasn't changed, not even almost three years in a marriage with him. A marriage that was now only based on a one sided love.
"We would go home when the sky was dark," He voiced out his plan, "I will prepare the popcorn as you choose the movie that we were going to watch." You smiled genuinely, and it pained him because he couldn't do the same, "Then we could cuddle in our bedroom."
"You sure you only want a cuddle?" He almost choked on air at your question, "Let's just see tonight, okay?" He ruffled your hair, wondering how you could act so freely like this while your heart had been shattered.
"Then what happened tomorrow morning?" You were the one who was now almost choked on air, "What would we do?"
He waited for your answer, because he was sure that he didn't know what to do.
"You have an early shift, right?" He nodded, "Then just work, I will handle the divorce paper." He winched when he heard the word. He couldn't believe that this is it. This is really the end of his marriage with you, "Alright, enough sappy feelings."
You kissed him on the cheek, wrapping your arms around his neck. Just for today, you want to spend time with him. Just for today, you want to feel like it was still the same relationship you dive into.
Just for today, you want to be loved one more time, before letting him go.
The sun was almost set, you peeked through your bedroom window, waiting for the new couple who would live in this house. Your sight fell to the sign in front of your house.
House for sale.
You remember the first time you walked into this house with Kuroo. The two of you pulled the sign from the yard, throwing it on the trash can. It was the start of the happy marriage.
You avert your gaze from the sign that was now emblazoned at the same place in the yard. Letting your eyes fall to the arranged bedroom. It was like a designer house, as you want to make the buyers feel comfortable in this place already.
You walked downstairs, touching every wall that you passed, leaving all of the memories behind. The familiar scent wouldn't be forgotten, the mix of fresh wood and ylang ylang, seeping out from every room that you walked through.
It was time, so you stood on the doorway, ready to greet the buyers that were now parking on the garace. The wife got down first, eyes lit up at the sight of the house.
"OH MY GOD! This house is even more beautiful!" The husband got out of the car and walked towards his wife, "I couldn't believe it would be our house forever!"
She looked so excited, and so much in love with the man beside her. They greeted you, asking if it's okay to pull the sign away. And of course, you gave them a green light immediately.
They walked to the yard hand in hand, pulling the sign off from your house. Correction, their house. They kissed while the moonlight shone in the sky, becoming their very own spotlight as they go through the new chapter in their life.
The two of them finally part, and you gave the keys to them, explaining all of the things about the house that once was yours. The husband walked inside immediately, while his wife lingered on the yard. Her eyes following your figure,
"Kuroo-san!" You winched inside your heart when she called out to you right before you got into your car, "I am sorry, but," She looked nervous, and you gave her a little smile to reassure her for anything that was running inside her mind, "Do you have any tips? About you know... Marriage?"
If you didn't care about her feelings, you might be laughing right now. Your marriage ended, caused by something that you didn't even know why. And now, the universe sends someone to you for marriage tips.
"Just," Your eyes lingered at the house once again, mind poured with all of the memories when it was yours, "Make as many memories together," Because you don't know when it would ended. You smiled at her as she nodded enthusiastically, "And well, never stop loving each other~"
It was the truth, even if love was something that was out of control. And yet, a lot of people could fight through it together with their lovers, live happily ever after until their last day on earth.
And somehow you wonder why the two of you couldn't work it out together.
The woman ran back towards their house, closing the wooden door as they were now the one who created the memories there.
You climbed inside your car, taking one last look to the house that held a beautiful yet painful memory. Your hand focused on the steering wheel, letting out a long sigh before hitting the pedal, burying all the memories deep inside your heart.
That house was once yours and his, the place where you create the memories together. The dumb witness for all of the moment that you spend with the man you once called your husband.
But today, some strangers would be climbing up the stairs,
To the bedroom filled with memories, the one you used to share with him.
