Just a friendly reminder I headcanon our fav sassy, genius, code crackin secret agent as aromantic and asexual!!

I had to do my part to help get #aromantic and #asexual trending on Valentine’s Day, and I’ll take any opportunity to push my aroace Ruby Redfort agenda.

I have no evidence except for general vibes and look how pretty the book 1, LIME cover looks with the aro pride flag?

(Also Clancy and Ruby are in a QPR for SURE!!!)

I am so unbelievably happy right now I can’t even speak-

I have been reading and rereading the Ruby Redfort series since I was like 10/11 and I’ve only ever know one person (one of my closest friends, shout out Tia love you babe xx) who actually knows about them and enjoys them.

And then suddenly on a Saturday night reading Catch Your Death I remember that TUMBLR EXISTS PURELY FOR NICHE FANDOMS and I found loads of headcanons and fan art of my favourite books series of all time (tied with MMU).

I have finally found my people, I’m not okay, I need these books to become a film series so bad 😭😭😭

Ruby Redfort headcanons:

because we need more of these. 

this is all pretty random, it's just shit that comes to mind so bear with me. there isn’t really textual evidence for any of this, its purley based off vibes 

 The whole gang is rich, excluding Red, and she is absolutely baffled by their need for huge houses and will poke fun at them all the time.  

Mouse grows up to become a very well known screenwriter

Del is captain of every sports team there is, save for track, which she is definitely *not* bitter about

Elliot and Mouse are both really big nature lovers and big environmental activists

Red was the last one to make friends with the rest of them, she moved to after leaving her shitty dad in bumfack Nebaskra or something, her and her mum moved to Twinford when she was about 11 or 12. 

speaking of which: fuck Red’s dad. I don’t even think this is a headcanon. I think this is canon. 

anyway, Ruby, Clancy and Mouse are all friends from like, preschool or something. 

Elliot showed up in kindy, Del in like, fifth/sixth grade, then Red. 

Red’s mum is a cool mum™️

Del has several *interesting* stories from the few times she volunteered to watch over Bug while no one else could 

Everyone but Ruby and Clancy have this ongoing inside joke about all of the time Ruby has just gone MIA, avoiding them all, and Clancy starts acting real suspicious around the same time, and what they could be up to 

Red bakes to cheer everyone up 

Mouse and Red are avid tea drinkers 

Ruby went through a whole week of dressing as doll-like as possible, to appease her mother and get out of a bit of trouble, and none of her friends have ever let her forget it

Elliot and Clancy are avid birthday planners

They also frequently geek out about sci-fi stuff together 

When Mouse runs for class president (becuase you know she totally would) Ruby gets Hitch on board to come up with an elaborate plan to figure out how likely each candidate is to win and why, so she can help out Mouse a little, she deserves it. Ruby was feeling generous. Also she owed Mouse one. 

Del and Ruby are RIVALS when it comes to ping pong, no one but the other can beat them and they’re ALWAYS neck to neck 

Del will help patch up her friends if they’ve been hurt while skating, playing sport, in a fight, whatever, she’d gotten good at doing that for herself with all the sport and fighting she does 

Red is a very talented artist 

Clancy is the designated driver of the group once they turn sixteen 

He also has the house that's most frequently used for parties, sleepovers, etc on account of it being SO HUGE 

Red is constantly changing her hair 

Elliot will help her. no one knows why. he just does. 

Clancy is probably a renaissance faire nerd 

Ruby laughs at him for it but not as hard as Minny does

Ruby Redfort headcanons

Australian Ruby. Would be cute considering LB is Australian & it would pass that down, also the line in pyp where the two evil guys say that the Australian guy must be British would be funnier. She also has the teenage Australian chaos as discussed by @rubyredfortncarnivorousplants

Clancy becomes obsessed with aquariums, even though he’s still terrified of underwater creatures he just goes to get the adrenaline rush.

When Ruby’s older (like 18-21+ whatever) she, like the rest of the action agents gets trained to use a gun and everyone is terrified of her.

Crazy cops and Brooklyn 99 are like the same thing. aka Ruby would LOVE b99

The Count: Billie Eilish, Alex Benjamin, One Direction & Imagine Dragon's although he never admits it

Lorelei: i feel she would probably listen to stuff like Kesha, Britney Spears, Selena Gomez , Syrex definitely things like that.

Baby Face: idk my only guess's ard XYLO , Alex Benjamin & Billie Eilish

The Australian: i just feel like she would like to this stuff Neoni, XYLO, RIELL, emlyn, AViVA

Headcanon time again: Artists the kids from Ruby Redfort listen to

(present time, not the 70s)

Ruby: I feel like she listens to rock, but she also likes stuff like MARINA and maybe Mitski when she’s older?? But otherwise, Twenty One Pilots, Panic! at the Disco, etc.

Clancy: Queen. Definitely Queen. I also think that he likes Mac DeMarco, Ricky Montgomery and Cavetown, but he always cries when he listens to them :(

Elliot: Hot Freaks, cuz it’s so chaotic and he probably enjoys it very much. Also Harry Styles/One Direction but he doesn’t want to admit it.

Del: Gorillaz, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, etc. and also Lorde!

Mouse: She likes Tyler the Creator, Kali Uchis and this type of chill-but-upbeat music :))

Red: Elvis Presley!! She owns a gramophone and many LPs, like ABBA, Boney M., etc. but Elvis is her all time favorite

some book headcanons

Marinette loves the Ruby Redfort series by Lauren Child. She grew up with Charlie And Lola, Who’s Afraid Of The Big Bad Book, and Clarice Bean so Ruby Redfort was naturally the next step. Anyway, stylish 13-year-old super-genius with a secret double life saving the world? Marinette projects so hard. Her fave is Look Into My Eyes because she relates so heavily to basically the entire plot. She’s got her hopes up that Hawkmoth when she meets him in person will be at least as cool a villain as the Count. She’s gonna be really disappointed when it turns out he’s just a Grade-A Asshole Billionaire with Grief Issues.

Alya adores Ellen Potter’s Olivia Kidney series. Sarcastic pre-teen solving ghost mysteries in New York City? Sign her the fuck up. Alya is tempted to search the Paris subway for French Subway Ghosts, but is aware that this will probably destroy the last of Marinette’s sanity. She kinda hopes a ghost will move into her apartment building so she can have her own supernatural adventure. Her favourite is Olivia Kidney: Hot On The Trail because it includes subway ghosts, Alice In Wonderland references galore, and two heartbreaking murder mysteries.

Adrien was introduced to Ally Sparks’ books while visiting Amelie and Félix in London. He started them then gave up, but after his mom disappeared he picked up Frozen In Time and it spoke to him (uncertainty about what happened to your missing parent? found family? scientific shenanigans? it’s perfect). After he met Ladybug though, his favourite became Dark Summer (a teenage boy longing to escape the monotony of family that doesn’t really feel like family meets a mysterious girl who shows him a magical world that he can go and see whenever he wants).

Nino loves Michelle Paver’s Gods And Warriors series. They’re what got him into adventure-horror, and if he’s being honest, if he ever makes it big as a director he wants to adapt them into a movie series. Burning Shadow is his favourite, just because it really is full of mounting suspension with a genuinely creepy turning point, exactly what supernatural horror should be. He kinda wanted a pet lion cub for a while because of Havoc.

Headcanon that Ruby and Froghorn eventually learn to get along and decades later when they’re a LOT older Ruby starts rubbing in the fact he’s older like how he used to make fun of her being young

Okay it’s unnecessary but I want to explain my alignment chart for Spectrum so here it goes

Gay:

- Distinguished: Sam Colt has never been caught tripping when it comes to romantic interests. He had a great long term relationship with this one guy, but they broke it off when their careers went in really different paths. Since then, he’s been happily single, although he’s dated occasionally.

- Functional: Blacker may be a mess when it comes to clothes, keeping tidy or eating doughnuts, but he’s actually pretty functional when it comes to dating. He’s completely oblivious when people like him, and you kinda have to spell it out for the poor guy, but he’s open to being in a relationship. He’s also a surprisingly good cook, so husband material right there, guys.

- Disaster: Miles Froghorn has the world’s biggest crush on his supervisor, Blacker, and everyone knows except Blacker. He has had reoccurring nightmares of accidentally calling Blacker ‘honey’ and has had to destroy notes when he realised he’s started doodling hearts in the margin while Blackers talking. The boy is a gay mess and LB is thinking of threatening to fire him unless he confesses to Blacker because she’s ‘sick of all the pining in this office, Miles.’

Bi

- Distinguished: LB has had a few girlfriends before she got together with Bradley, and is completely open about her past with him. She’s a pretty good judge of character so she’s never had a crazy ex and she was known for keeping a little bi flag on her desk when she wore colour. Ruby refuses to believe this and wants photographic proof, which she never gets, but she does receive the shock of her life when she sees LB wearing a bi flag as a cape during Spectrum’s annual pride week.

- Functional: Bradley’s had his share of bi freak outs but he’s generally good at getting himself back on track afterwards. However, he did have an embarrassing crush on Sam Colt after he was resuscitated by him, and sometimes gets teased about it. He and LB were very comfortable with each other’s bi-ness so they often liked to point out people on tv the other would find attractive.

- Disaster: Everyone thinks Hitch knows what he’s doing, but quite frankly the man is a catastrophe. He’s perfectly fine if he’s only casually into a person or not actually into them, but when he likes them he falls to pieces. Unfortunately, he also chooses people who don’t like him back. He’s also a mess in general, like when he cried for 7 hours when he found out Zuko had a girlfriend, or how he continually refuses to admit to LB that he blushed when he first saw Valerie Capaldi with dyed hair when they were 25 and she hadn’t yet committed homicide.

Lesbian

- Distinguished: Buzz is actually very smooth when she’s not wearing beige. She knocks it out the park in a blue dress and she’s known for stealing the hearts of Twinford’s wlw, although none of her colleagues know that at all. She is also unfortunately fending off a few male suitors but they’ll get the hint, one way or another.

- Functional: SJ is lowest brand of functional there is. She’s not the disaster lesbian because Ruby exists, but she’s one for dorky science based gifts to people she has crushes on, and cried because she thought that Margo Bardem was just that beautiful. She has a huge crush on a pretty single mother who visits her local grocery store, who is unbeknownst to her, Sadie Monroe.

- Disaster: Clancy cannot count on two hands and feet the amount of times Ruby talked about how she’s so gay. He’s had many conversations about Ruby’s crush on Del Lascoe and she won’t admit it, but she often watches terrible horror films because she’s into the final girl. She’s sometimes found herself minorly into guys, but it’s basically negligible and she now openly identifies as ‘most definitely’ a lesbian ever since meeting Bailey Roach. Sabina will not stop asking if she’s found a girlfriend yet, honey, you’d look so cute with Del! while Brant just casually mentions how proud he is of his lesbian daughter at work, and ignores the stares. She’s a lucky kid.

Bradley: I feel like Bradley would probably listen to stuff like Coldplay or Bruno Mars, stuff like that.

Hitch: possibly Imagine Dragon's or Guns 'n Rose's, something like that?

Froghorn: I say AURORA or James Arthur, just because I think that's probably the kind of music he's most likely to listen to.

Blacker: One Direction, Imagine Dragon's, possibly Panic AtThe Disco, those kind of bands because they have various genres.
