fun oc fact for today:

while ruben and his mom live in an apartment that they rent, meaning they can't alter it much, ruben's mother laid blue wallpaper on the walls of ruben's room and together they used sponges and paint brushes to paint their own clouds onto it with white paint, just so ruben could have a fun room of his own. she also let him put glow in the dark stars onto his ceiling.

ruben: CURIOSITY; How thoroughly do they explore new places, things, or ideas? Do they go out of their way to learn new things?

ruben is rather curious by nature tbh. he will always be looking for something new and wondering about different things. if something catches his interest, he seeks to learn more about it and find anything more he can about it. he ends up finding new things and exploring new places all the time. he's a rather free-spirited kid, always looking for an adventure and that leads him down many paths, sometimes even dangerous ones.

Heyy anon who was wondering if OC asks = requests; thank you for the answer! So, here are the asks, plus some ones for your AHIT OCs! Prepare yourself.

Sunshine: Ruben: You mentioned his mother got him a little motorized toy car. What kind of car is it? (Also has he ridden around in it with sunglasses on) Oliver: I saw a lot of flowers in his tag. Does he have a favourite one and what does it mean in floriography/language of flowers? Riley: What would Riley's dream tree house look like? Darby: What would Darby's ringtone be? (Also I saw those "oh there's a sad girl in my coffee" "that's you" posts and I am. Looking. With curious eyes.)

AHIT: Cassidy: Favourite scene to shoot? Wormie: Would Wormie have any typing quirks?

ruben:

yes he does have a motorized toy car LMAOOO. it's one of those little 'jeep' style cars (though in story it's got a different name 'peep') and it's dark blue in color. he put dinosaur and star stickers on it and he uses a little cd player in it to play songs that his friend darby burned for him. it was also slightly modified by darby's uncle so that it goes a little faster and drives smoother than a normal one would! he has most definitely ridden around in it, blasting songs, with a cheap pair of sunglasses. he even invited one of his friends to ride around in it with him!

oliver:

those are one of his aesthetics that are assigned to his character! they were meant to be a kind of contrast to his 'tough guy' nature showing that there's a lot more to him than it seems. the flowers i put in his tag i'm not really sure of most of their flower symbolism but his favorite flowers are sunflowers. i always took them to mean optimism and positivity for him, something that he often attempts to exhibit but being the statue of wrath sometimes that can be hard. his boots also have roses embroidered onto them, and those are symbols of beauty and courage. there's kinda story symbolism with that.

riley:

riley would honestly love to have a treehouse! if she had anywhere to build one. but she would probably be the one to build it herself and she would want one big enough for her and her friends to hang out in. she knows how to build and design things so she'd have one with a wide floor and enough space for a little table and there would be a chalkboard for little club meetings up there. it would have a small cabin like structure with a door to a little balcony for overlooking and there would be a hatch with a ladder that you can throw down coming from it so that her and her friends could stay safe and keep out any intruders.

darby:

darby's ringtone for notifications would probably be one that's related to a popular in-story game that she likes, since sometimes she heads down to the arcade a few times throughout the story. her ringtone would probably be a skating related song, since that is her favorite past time and she would want to have a ringtone related to it. her phone is also a flip phone since sunshine takes place in 2003 and most phones were still the flip type, slider or the brick type back then.

cassidy:

his favorite types of scenes to film are the ones that follow a narrative, like exposition. but he also likes to film tense scenes that really draw a viewer in and climax scenes too. he likes to unease his audience and make them feel drawn in to the story before he shocks them with something. he also kind of enjoys doing slasher scenes but they tend to be kind of messy so he tries to keep those to a minimum.

oh she most definitely would!!! she already kind of speaks in a rather quirky way and will pronounce emoticons out loud and tends to speak in 1337 speak or that old internet slang you use to see everywhere. you know the.... zomg!!!!!1 teh lolz!! xDDD kind of typing yeah that LMAOOOOOOO.

✈️ AIRPLANE — does your oc like traveling, or do they consider themselves a more homey person?

rin doesn't mind travelling! she often is when it comes to her work, as she needs to get to different parts of the planet in order to tend to people's wounds all over it. though sometimes she wishes that she could stay in one place, as it can be rather bothersome when she has to be away for so long.

🚗 CAR — does your oc have a driver's license? can they drive/operate any automobiles/machinery besides cars?

rin does have a driver's liscense! she can also drive an ambulance in the case of an emergence but typically she flies places by helicopter or travels small distances via a motorbike!

💙 BLUE HEART — does your oc have any cool/special powers and/or abilities? how are they with magic, if it exists in their world?

rin herself does not have any special powers, necessarily. but! she is very skilled at healing and working towards finding various ways to treat all sorts of injuries! she can often figure out how to patch up most any injury and she has even tried to ressurrct people and succeeded. she's working on developing various medicines too and has even tried to make a new type of special heart pon.

💔 BROKEN HEART — what are three of your oc's negative traits?

rin tends to be rather overconfident in her capabilities. while she is often exceptional in her manner of treating patients of their injuries, she sometimes will try to handle a lot more that she is capable of at once, often over exerting herself. she also tends to not be able to take criticism very well and will always assert how correct she is on her assessment of something. she also sometimes might overcharge people for her services, though given her degree of work sometimes it can be reasonable.

for ruben:

ruben hasn't ever travelled away from his home island so he doesn't really have an experience to reference from! so in a way he tends to be a rather homey person. but he is also the adventurous type, always looking for new places on the island to explore.

ruben is eight years old so unfortunately for him he doesn't have a driver's liscense yet LOL. however!!! his mom did get him one of those motorized toy cars you can ride in that he drives around sometimes in his neighborhood and in the nearby woods.

💙 BLUE HEART — does your oc have any cool/special powers and/or abilities? how are they with magic, if it exists in their world?

ruben has magical abilities! he is quite the prodigy at his age, mastering abilities that people twice his age have yet to. ruben has the ability to summon various different objects and control the movement of things with his wand. tho despite his exceptional abilities, he usually only thinks that he's doing rather simplistic magic.

💔 BROKEN HEART — what are three of your oc's negative traits?

ruben can be rather impulsive and not think before he acts and this sometimes leads him into trouble. ruben also tends to take things at face value and not look deeper into them; if someone is bad in his eyes they will always be bad! ruben also lacks self confidence in who he is and will often put up a more childish front in order to be perceived a certain way by his peers.

👀 What is the first physical feature people notice when they see your OC? Why?

DEFINITELY his hair. It's big, it's bold, it's fluffy. It's very unique lol. Also a very unusually color for an eight year old child. Already got grey hair and you're barely outta elementary school lol.

Though to be real here, I'm not exactly how Ruben's hair became what it is today. It just came to me one day and i was like "Yes. This is the boy." Though, since he's half-monster I think he can get away with a little bit of a zany haircut.

✋ Are your OC’s hands smooth, rough, or average? Why? How do they keep their nails? Do they bite them, paint them, neatly trim them, et cetera?

Ruben's hands are little baby hands, very tiny lol. He keeps his nails short as much as he can, due to having a bad habit of accidentally scratching people if he doesn't. However, his right hand looks like a monster's hand, with long claws. He wears a grey glove on it to hide it as well as protect other's from getting clawed by him. The claw hand is a part of his monster form but he greatly dislikes his monster form because he "doesn't think it's cute" and he likes being considered cute and approachable. He hides it from his friends in that way and makes excuses it's part of his magician's costume. He's also very skilled at magic and card tricks and channeling actual magic through his hands in order to direct his powers using a wand.

👽 For Ruben?

beliefs - ruben:

ruben was never raised with any particular religion in mind by his mom, so he doesn't necessarily have any religious beliefs. however, he does have some personal beliefs that he carries with him: he believes that he can always solve a problem if he tries hard enough. he believes in to never stop trying, even if sometimes he feels like giving up. he's also very confident in himself and his abilities and doesn't let other people doubt him and will assert himself, sometimes coming off a little arrogant when he can't do something perfectly.

one thing that's particular about his character though is when people tell him something, he will believe they are telling the truth. for example, often when a friend appears upset and he asks them "are you okai?" and they tell him they're "fine," he believes them at face value, and doesn't pry more than he needs to, which sometimes makes him seem inconsiderate. but he gives people time to tell him the truth and believes them just the same when they tell him different later.
