Dustfinger's foolish smile fades ever so slightly, quickly replaced with nervous laughter to mirror Roxane's.

"I'm what?"

His ease is broken, but he somehow manages to retain hope. Maybe she's just happy he's finally made something resembling a move. Maybe she's not laughing at him for being stupid enough to think she'd enjoy enjoy being near him. Maybe she's not been making fun of him behind his back for every stupid hint of love he's thrown her way.

Her blush makes him wonder. Maybe she's as nervous as he is, though he can't see how he could ever excite the kind of flutters in her stomach that he feels whenever he looks at her.

Favourite thing about them

His genuine compassion and honesty- sounds odd, I know, but despite everything he thinks of himself, he’s a great man. He spends most of the Inkworld trilogy convincing himself he’s a coward and a monster, but he does brave, selfless things anyways and I’m not sure there’s much more heroic than that.

Least favourite thing about them

He lowkey intends to keep Resa from her family out of spite. Don’t hate it from a writing standpoint, it makes sense plotwise and even character-wise but man it ain’t a good look dude.

Favourite line

I can’t think of a line of his at the moment- it’s been an age since I read it through (planning to do so fairly soon actually) But! I’ve always loved the chapter titles about him- particularly: “A Coward”, “The Betrayer Betrayed”, and “Shivers Down The Spine And A Foreboding”
