Ginetta G27
Ginetta Cars Limited is a British builder of racing and sports cars that date to 1958. The G27 was a two-seater derived from the earlier G4 and was in production in some form between 1985 and the 1990s. s was the case with other Ginetta cars, the G27 would borrow some of its technology. For example, it used the front suspension from a Triumph Vitesse, a modified Jaguar independent rear suspension, and could be fitted with a wide range of engines up to the Rover V8. It was more recently fitted with a Ford Zetec 2.0-liter engine with a Ford Type 9 5-speed  manual transmission. It has its original intake manifold and exhaust from England.

🇬🇧🇯🇵 The Sterling brand had a fleeting existence, but its story is a fascinating fusion of British craftsmanship and American ambition. Created as the U.S. marketing name for automobiles produced by Austin Rover Cars of North America (later Sterling Motor Cars), the brand represented a division of the UK’s Rover Group. Launched in 1987 through a joint venture between the Austin Rover Group (part of British Leyland Motor Corporation) and Honda, Sterling aimed to deliver British luxury to American roads.
🚘 Sterling cars were based on the Rover 800 Series, sharing platforms and components with Honda’s Acura Legend. This partnership allowed Sterling to benefit from Honda’s famed engineering reliability while adding a distinctly British touch through wood trim, leather interiors, and elegant styling.
🌟 The brand debuted with the Sterling 825, powered by Honda’s 2.5-liter V6 engine, followed by the Sterling 827, which featured a more powerful 2.7-liter V6. These models offered a compelling mix of performance, luxury, and affordability, catering to American buyers looking for an alternative to domestic and European vehicles.
📉 Despite a strong start, Sterling’s momentum was soon derailed by quality control issues, particularly with its British-manufactured components. Poor reviews and rising customer dissatisfaction tarnished the brand's reputation, causing sales to plummet. By 1991, just four years after its debut, Sterling exited the U.S. market. A strong British pound and mounting financial losses made a comeback impossible, even with a facelifted model and a planned coupe version on the horizon. When the closure was announced in August 1991, fewer than 2,000 units had been sold that year.

Marcos Mantula
Introduced in 1984, the Marcos Mantula was the result of the company’s continuous pursuit of the perfect British sports car. The Mantula replaced the previous model, the Marcos GT, and was available in both coupe and convertible body styles over its production run.The car’s classic Marcos styling, including its long bonnet, low-slung body, and sleek lines, was designed for optimal aerodynamics and shared a lot with the earlier GT model.
The Mantula was powered by a Rover V8 engine, which was known for its low-weight and high-tunability. This 3.5 liter engine produced 190 horsepower and 220 lb ft of torque, propelling the lightweight sports car from 0-62 mph in just 5.5 seconds.
With a top speed of 140 mph, the Mantula was more than capable of holding its own against its competitors, and later in the 1980s it would receive the more powerful 3.9 liter fuel injected version of the V8. Most examples of the Mantula were sold as kit cars in Britain, approximately 140 kits were bought over the production run.
There were a number of changes introduced to the car over the course of its nine year 1984 – 1993 production, a convertible version was offered from 1986 onwards, and the Rover V8 was upgraded to the 3.9 liter unit in the late 1980s. Independent rear suspension would also become standard from 1986 onwards, based on components from the Ford Granada.
In 1993 Marcos Engineering made the fateful decision to no longer offer kit cars, switching to a line of full factory-built production cars as Lotus had done in the early 1970s. The company would then be competing more directly with British sports car makers like TVR, Morgan, and Lotus – for better or worse.

🇬🇧 Enter the realm of automotive legend with the Rover SD1, a marvel born from the collaborative genius of the Specialist Division and Austin Rover within British Leyland. Crowned the European Car of the Year in 1977, its "SD" moniker not only denotes "Specialist Division" but also heralds a new era of innovation as the inaugural masterpiece from the in-house design team.
🏗 Crafted in the hallowed halls of Solihull, the SD1 laid the foundation for the iconic Rover 800 in 1986, a testament to its enduring legacy. Meanwhile, the revered Rover V8 engine continued to roar with power until 2003, a symbol of uncompromising performance.
🚘 But the SD1's story transcends the showroom floor, igniting the passions of motorsport enthusiasts with its dominance in Group A touring car racing during the mid-1980s. From the thrilling victories at the RAC Tourist Trophy to the prestigious British Saloon Car Championship, the SD1 left an indelible mark on the racing circuit.
👨‍✈️ Beyond the racetrack, the SD1 emerged as the ultimate symbol of authority, serving as the vehicle of choice for UK police forces during the tumultuous decades of the 1970s and 1980s. From bustling city streets to expansive motorways, the SD1 stood as a guardian of law and order, commanding respect with its unparalleled presence.

2023 Mercedes-Benz G550
One-percenters love them, but wouldn't we all like to drive a Mercedes G Wagon, at least for a while?
Showy G Wagon, the perfect SUV for one-percenters … There’s no use pretending we all wouldn’t like to live like the one percenters, the CEOs, movie stars, sports heroes, and rocket-building entrepreneurs. But experience teaches that there’s also a bit of embarrassment in the pleasure that comes fom driving one of their pretentious, extravagant, and aristocratic battle tanks, if even for a week.…
