After Death (1989)
My rating: 4/10
The theme song is great fun. The movie? Kind of a boring, anticlimactic mess, unfortunately, and not even in a particularly fun way.

It’s time to return to the gloriously gory realm of the Italian zombie movie. Whoa-boy! Zombie 3 (aka Zombi 3, aka Zombie Flesh Eaters 2), is a sequel to Fulci’s Zombi 2 (1979) in name only, much as Fulci’s Zombi 2 (known as Zombie in the U.S.) is a “sequel” to Romero’s Zombi (1978, known as Dawn of the Dead in the States). Alternate film titles, am I right? Woof.
Regardless, Fulci does return to direct this feature but it’s eventually co-directed by Bruno Mattei and Claudio Fragrasso when Fulci leaves the Philippines for . . . reasons. What about those reasons? Or the story? Or the locations? Or the effects work? Or the acting? Or the . . . well, you’re just going to have to check out what the 80s Grue Crew have to say about this latterday Fulci effort.
Hey, it’s still Fulci which makes it worth a watch in the Decades of Horror book. At the time of this writing, Zombie 3 is available to stream with ads from Tubi and The Roku Channel; by subscription from Flix Fling, Night Flight, or Screambox; and from multiple PPV sources. Zombie 3 is also available as a Blu-ray disc from Severin Films.

Troll 2 (1990)
There are good movies. There are bad movies. There are movies so bad they’re unwatchable. There are movies that are so bad they’re good again. Troll 2 isn’t the worst movie ever made (though it's a contender) but it might be one of the best bad movies you’ll ever see. You’ve probably seen Darren Ewing’s delivery of “They’re eating her... and then they’re going to eat me! OH MY GAWWWWD!” a hundred times. It still won’t prepare you for how genuinely awful, and simultaneously awesome the film is.
Unsurprisingly, this bad sequel has little to do with the first film. In fact, the two are completely unrelated. Our heroes are a typical family: Dad (George Handy), Mom (Margo Prey), teenage daughter Holly (Connie McFarland) and the youngest son Joshua (Michael Stephenson) - along with their ghostly grandfather (Robert Ormsby) whom only Joshua can see - travels to the strange town of Nilbog. There, they find themselves the prey of goblins. There are no trolls in this movie. The goblins are vegetarians so their goal is first to transform the family into plants, and THEN eat them!
The writing is awful, and I don’t only mean the dialogue. We’ve got ample scenes where characters talk like aliens who only have a vague idea of what English sounds like, transplanted in a nonsense plot. The production is lousy. You could get better costumes at any half-decent costume shop for less than 50 bucks. The special effects? pathetic. One recurring illusion, a bolt of lightning representing the magical powers of several characters, appears to be a drawing on a black background. The actors are all terrible, to the point where I don’t know if even a talented director could've gotten animated performances out of them. I can't say for sure, however, as the directing is some of the worst I’ve ever seen.
I was worried that having heard so much about the movie ahead of time would spoil Troll 2 for me. It didn't. This movie is the best kind of bad movie. It's consistently bad, but always in new ways. The special effects and the acting are shoddy from the beginning, but the ways and number of times it discovers to get even worse will surprise you. Knowing the plot cannot prepare you for just how nutty it is. So many elements come out of nowhere, are unexplained or lead to logical questions, and are then handled so badly that by the time the movie's over, you're overwhelmed. I tried to list my favorite parts. The list kept getting longer and longer. There’s so much bad in this movie that a single sitting isn't enough. The clips you’ve seen everywhere on Youtube become notorious out of luck. Nearly every scene in the film has something that could've become a meme. And if you thought the sequence would get better in context, or that it wouldn’t be as bad as it is clipped out and played on its own, you're wrong.
There’s a ton of re-watch value in Troll 2. You'll catch new things every time you see it, and it’s the kind of movie you want to share with unsuspecting victims just to see their priceless reactions. If you’re not one for watching movies ironically, this is the one that'll get you hooked on the “bad movie” genre. You can’t really be prepared for Troll 2. I mean this in the best way. (On DVD, November 21, 2014)

spooky tuesday is a (now not so new!) podcast where we’re breaking down all of our favorite slashers, thrillers, monster movies and black comedies on the new scariest day of the week.
don’t let the name fool you — there’s no movie out there quite like troll 2. well, except for maybe leprechaun. and society. and the princess bride. and commercials for the heinz ketchup collab with shrek. but other than that, this 1990-era movie is truly one of a kind. given a pseudo-sequel name and yet telling its own original story (about goblins, despite any possible confusion), troll 2 is often lauded as the best worst movie out there, and they’ve got the behind-the-scenes documentary to prove it.
give spooky tuesday a listen on apple podcasts, spotify, iheart radio, or stitcher

TROLL 2- 1990 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The best worst movie of all time?
Quite possibly yes. Troll 2 is exceptionally bad in every way imaginable, but is endlessly rewatchable and insanely entertaining.
It has no link whatsoever to Troll 1 and there ard no troll anywhere in the movie. Troll 2.... is about goblins. The Waits family travel to the small town of Nilbog (Goblin spelled backwards) to do a house swap for a few weeks. Young Joshua, along with the help of his dead grandfathers ghost, is tasked with stopping his family from eating any of the food thats been left for them.
Goblins in this movie, are vegetarians, they have humans eat there mystery food which then turns them into plants so they can be eaten....
Thats the basic plot of the movie.
The dialogue is insanely bad and there are several full sentences that make no sense.
"We need some time for some things to happen"
Troll 2 was written by Claudia Fragrasso and his wife Rossella Drudi, neither of whom were fluent in english. The actors asked to help out and ad lib or fix the lines, the director demanded they be read as is. The crew mainly spoke italian also.
Troll 2 also features some of the worst acting ever recorded on film. Almost everyone in the main cast auditioned to be an extra and was given a starring role. George Hardy who plays Michael Waits auditioned to a room full of people who didnt speak english but cast him because they liked his energy.
Don Packard who plays the store clerk Sandy revealed in the "best worst movie" documentary that he was in and out of mental institutions at the time of filming and was considered legally insane at the time.
Claudia Fragrasso directed the movie under the pseudonym Drake Floyd which he thought would be the quintessential American name.
In the best worst movie documentary theres a hilarious moment where the cast are taking fan questions, and he starts to heckle them calling them "dogs". All these years later he still thinks its a good movie. Part of what makes Troll 2 brilliant is that it was made with the best intentions. It wasnt trying to be a B-Movie or laugh at itself the way a Sharknado movie might. And yet, it turned into one of if not the worst movies of all time.
Troll 2 became infamous in the years since its release, for years it made the rounds on VHS.
It eventually built up a cult following and is now regularly screened around the world to packed audiences. Often alongside other so bad theyre good classics like "The Room" and "Silent Night Deadly Night Part 2".
I first saw Troll 2 ten years ago and was blown away by it. Its one of my favorite movies ever and is hilarious from start to finish.
Long Live Troll 2!

Night Killer will be released on Blu-ray on June 25 via Severin Films. It was originally distributed in its native Italy as Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3, despite being completely unrelated to the franchise.
The 1990 giallo/slasher hybrid is directed by Claudio Fragasso (Troll 2), with gore reshoots helmed by Bruno Mattei (Hell of the Living Dead). Peter Hooten and Tara Buckman star.
Night Killer has been scanned in 4K from the original camera negative. Special features are listed below.
Special features:
Interview with director Claudio Fragasso
Interview with screenwriter Rossella Drudi
Trailer
Somewhere between Zombie 4 and Troll 2, writer/director Claudio Fragasso – here under the name Clyde Anderson – set out to direct a suspense thriller about a suicidal beauty, an unstable sleazebag and a masked killer with a razor-fingered glove. But when the producers received Fragasso’s cut, they hired his former partner Bruno Mattei to shoot additional scenes of graphic gore and released it in Italy as Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3. The result is part sicko giallo, part depraved slasher, and 100% batshit insanity that Euro Fever calls “disturbing, nasty and more inspired than most Italian horror of the early ‘90s.”

SHOCKING DARK
SHOCKING DARK REVIEWED
“Shocking Dark” was Bruno Mattei’s answer to the question of could you combine Aliens and The Terminator? The answer is POORLY. But, that’s the Mattei aesthetic. Tony Lombardo leads off a cast of Americans and Italians doing their best to make this unofficial sequel work. What’s terrible about it is that the film doesn’t even try to hide its lifted roots. Sure, it’s set in…
