Anyway.

Let’s say that did happen and Rose comes back to Twelve or Thirteen and is present for the Bi-Generation.

Who does she go with?

They’re equally the man she loves, yeah? But oh- that face is back- so does she run a third time with him? Retire for a bit? Would she want to after the slow path with TenToo?

So you know what I realized today? The Solas/Lavellan romance in Dragon Age is the dark mirror of Rose/Nine in Doctor Who.

Because here you have two men who are each respectively the last of their races and have played a key role in destroying the very people they were trying to save. Solas raises The Veil, The Doctor uses The Moment, and both are riddled with terrible guilt over it.

Yet The Doctor continues to keep exploring, to keep helping, to find good in the universe - and the one moment where he slips, he stops what he's doing to listen to what

Rose: No. I won't let you do this. The Doctor: That thing killed hundreds of people! Rose: It's not the one pointing the gun at me. The Doctor: I've got to do this. I've got to end it! The Daleks destroyed my home, my people! I've got nothing left! Rose: Look at it. The Doctor: What's it doing?[x]

Solas, however, continues to view Thedas as as world of tranquil even after years of working closely with the Inquisition. He finds nothing of value in the people the elves have become - and even after his first two attempts to tear down the Veil end in the Breach and the Sixth Blight, he refuses to stop when the two people he's betrayed the most - Rook and the Inquisitor - both beg him otherwise. He needs absolution from the fragment of a memory of a fellow god before he even starts to reconsider, and that's only in the "best" ending.

I'm not sure what point I'm trying to make here, other than these relationships represent two men in similar positions making radically different choices - one to keep hoping, one to dwell in their guilt - and their relationships reflect that.

I actually read the relationship between Rose and the Ninth Doctor super badly 😭😭😭

I thought it was some kind of found family until the dance scene where I was like "hmm this looks kinda romantic" but then after the kiss scene and the Christmas special (with the 10th doctor) I was like "OOOH IT WASN'T FOUND FAMILY IT'S A SITUATIONSHIP?? KINDA??"

I mess w/ them really good tho, They are the most beautiful couple I have seen on TV
