Things Get Better?: LGBTQ Representation in Animation in 2022 [Part 3]

Continued from part 2

Just as bombastic is the third season of Harley Quinn headlined by two bisexual protagonists, Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. Both are known by the ship name Harlivy. The season, premiering from July to September 2022. The series also features a queer character named Clayface, who works with Harley from time to time. Harley Quinn was recently renewed for a fourth season, with a standalone episode premiering sometime this year.

There are other Western animated series with LGBTQ characters. For instance, Craig of the Creek features Kelsey Pokoly and Isabella "Stacks" Alvarado, two lesbian characters who have an important role in the series. There are additional LGBTQ characters in Summer Camp Island and Victor and Valentino. In the latter series are episodes partially focusing on the relationship between Xochi Jalapeno and Amabel. The former series has at least four LGBTQ characters: Puddle, Alien King, and Ghosts Dads as noted by the Insider database of LGBTQ characters and cartoons, which was last updated in June 2021.

All three of these series were targeted by Warner Bros Discovery execs. Summer Camp Island and Victor and Valentino were removed from the HBO Max streaming platform. Craig of the Creek had its final season order cut in half by execs, worrying those who worked on the show. These shows were not alone. In 2022, three other series with LGBTQ characters also faced the axe from corporate executives: Tuca & Bertie, The Casagrandes, and Close Enough.

In 2022, some months after the fourth season ended, shenanigans by Warner Bros Discovery execs led to the effective cancellation of Young Justice. The series includes LGBTQ characters such as Eduardo "Ed" Dorado Jr., Kaldur, and Marie Logan. Lagoon Boy "La'gaan" was shown to be bisexual and in a poly relationship in the recent season. Bart Allen is in a relationship with Ed, and Wynnde is in a relationship with Kaldur.

The show features Harper Row who is bisexual, Rosa who is trans woman, and Violet who is non-binary. In the most recent season, there was a sub-story showing Violet beginning a romantic relationship with Harper Row. Unfortunately, without another season, these stories could not be expanded.

Other series shined through in their representation. This included The Dragon Prince. There are lesbian (Amaya and Janai), non-binary (Kazi), and otherwise queer (Annika, Ethari, Neha, and Runaan), characters. The story of Amaya and Junai was an important part of the story in the show's recent fourth season, becoming more than "lip service" regardless of how bad other narrative choices in the season were, with this story likely continued in the show's next three seasons.

The same can be said for the mature animated series, Disenchantment, which features the bisexual Princess Bean, voiced by a bisexual actress, Abbi Jacobsen, and various characters in Star Trek: Lower Decks. [4] The latter series, its third season airing from August to September 2022, has a bisexual protagonist named Beckett Mariner, a possibly asexual chief engineer named Andy Billups, and a lesbian woman named Jennifer Sh'reyan. The relationship, and subsequent break-up of Mariner and Sh'reyan was an important part of the recent season, which featured Mariner as a protagonist.

There were other characters of note, like the confirmed lesbian relationship in Arcane between two characters (Vi and Caitlyn) and many characters in another ongoing series, The Owl House. This includes the now-canon romantic relationship between Luz Noceda, who is bisexual, and Amity Blight, who is lesbian. The show featured other LGBTQ characters, whether those who are queer (Eda Clawthorne), aromantic asexual (Lilith Clawthorne), gay (Gilbert Park and Harvey Park), non-binary and transmasculine (Raine Whispers), and presumably non-binary character named The Collector.

Vangelo secondo Matteo: quando ciascuno di noi, ricco o bisognoso, fa un gesto generoso nei confronti del prossimo meno fortunato deve restare nell'ombra. Matteo continua: "non suonare la tromba come fanno gli ipocriti nelle sinagoghe e nelle strade per essere lodati dagli uomini. In verità vi dico il Padre tuo, che vede nel segreto, ti ricompenserà".

Sono passati secoli, il mondo è mutato, ribaltato, si sono raggiunti traguardi inimmaginabili, si programmano viaggi-vacanze sulla Luna, su Marte ma, paradossalmente, incredibilmente, disumanamente aumentano uomini, donne, anziani, famiglie, soprattutto bambini sempre più bisognosi di "mani destre" che aiutano. Troppo spesso Stati, Nazioni, Governi, partiti, politici che dovrebbero provvedere, risolvere, sono assenti, lontani. Per dirla col Manzoni sempre "in tutt'altre faccende affaccendati". Sinagoghe e Palazzi di vetro continuano ad ospitare ipocriti. Per fortuna sulla terra, oggi come ieri, non cresce solo gramigna. Lentamente, ma qualcosa sta cambiando.

Promuovere, dare una mano nei modi giusti, anche visibilmente a chi ne ha bisogno, rendendo noto, pubblicizzando ..... non turba, non è peccato. Anzi. Ci sono persone, pubblici amministratori, imprenditori, aziende, marchi, professionisti, società, medie, piccole, anche internazionali, artigiani, scienziati, agricoltori, tanti privati, artisti, campioni, leader, gente comune che non stanno più fermi, aiutano, producono per se e per gli altri. Studiano, organizzano meeting, fiere, inaugurano, partecipano a manifestazioni culturali, musicali, artistiche, sportive. Offrono fondi, raccolgono, aiutano, danno una mano, ossigeno, speranza a chi ne ha bisogno.

Anche in Riviera sono stati e continuano ad accendersi riflettori nel campo solidale e sociale. Tante iniziative locali come il Barrel On the Beach-Baudino o i Tabaccai di Taggia nel ricordo di Anna Rosa, solo per citarne alcune. Anche importanti sigle nazionali come Conad ed internazionali a partire dalla Mercedes-Benz, concessionario Gino S.p.A -Cuneo, Cascina Malaspina. Proprio in questi giorni nei saloni, show room e tecnologica officina della filiale aperta dalla casa automobilistica di Stoccarda ad Arma di Taggia, diretta da decenni con successo e vendite record da Stefano Morbidelli, è stata organizzata la "Cena  della Stella", in collaborazione con "La Casa grande di Giz", associazione di volontariato nata a dicembre 2021 per aiutare bimbi autistici.  Bambini con disturbi del neurosviluppo, fragilità neurocognitive e psichiche, disturbi del movimento nelle diverse fasi della vita e le loro famiglie anche per quanto riguarda l'elevato carico sanitario, sociale ed economico.

Fondatore e presidente è Giacomo Casagrande, meglio conosciuto come "Mino", nonno coraggioso, instancabile, determinato, pronto a sacrifici per la sua famiglia ed aiutare chi ha bisogno. "Con La Casa grande di Giz - ha spiegato - ho voluto assicurare il futuro a mio nipote Giacomino appena gli è stato diagnosticato, purtroppo, un ritardo cognitivo e, nello stesso tempo, dare una mano a tutte le persone che si trovano ad affrontare questo delicatissimo problema e non sanno a chi rivolgersi, come affrontarlo, curarlo nel modo migliore possibile. Le porte della Casa grande di Giz sono aperte a tutti. A chi economicamente può e a chi non può. Tutti da noi troveranno aiuto, medici, infermieri, volontari. A questo sogno, a questa struttura ho voluto dare il mio cognome, diviso a metà "casa grande", unito alle iniziali di mio nipotino Giacomo, "Giz". Abbiamo iniziato in un mini locale di Via Flora, ad Arma, ai primi di gennaio del 2022 con soli due bimbi. Dopo 7 mesi, ad agosto, ne curavamo già 35. Oggi il numero è aumentato così tanto e così in fretta che è stato necessario trovare una struttura più ampia. Sono cresciuti pure i costi, il numero di medici, specialisti, tecnologie, aiuti necessari per chi non ha sufficienti mezzi economici. Non è facile, ma ce la stiamo facendo grazie ad enti, persone generose che capiscono, che hanno cuore. Venendo a conoscenza della nostra missione e serietà, ci danno sostegno, forza, coraggio per poter continuare ad aiutare sempre più bambini, famiglie che da soli non potrebbero farcela".

L'unione tra pubblico, privato, volontariato e la virtù teologale della carità per chi è credente, sta facendo miracoli. I bimbi assistiti ad Arma da "Giz" ne sono la prova: da 2 che erano all'inizio oggi sono già un centinaio. E il telefono 348 7292946 continua a squillare.

    La "Cena della Stella", iconico marchio Mercedes, organizzata splendidamente da Gino e Morbidelli e' stata un successo. Cento invitati, a partire dal sindaco di Taggia, l'architetto Mario Conio e signora, il Presidente ad interim della Regione Liguria, Alessandro Piana, il generale dei Carabinieri Luciano Zarbano, leader della lista civica "Imperia senza padroni", il sindaco di Santo Stefano al Mare, Marcello Pallini, tanti noti imprenditori, Silvano (edilizia), Fera (costruzioni) o Raffaele Fasuolo (Fun seven Bikes s.r.l.), per citarne alcuni. Oppure Francesco Barlaam, il più longevo e noto tassista di Sanremo (in pensione) primo cliente Mercedes quando il Concessionario Gino il secolo scorso, con Stefano al timone, ha  aperto il punto vendite, tanti liguri, anche stranieri, francesi, professionisti, medici, tecnici, sportivi, artigiani, operatori turistici, impiegati, insegnanti, eleganza, musica, cordialità, forte interesse per i bolidi esposti, i nuovi modelli, l'intero catalogo della Stella, grande solidarietà per " La Casa grande di Giz", sempre aperta a chi bussa alla sua porta.

La cena-evento si è conclusa nel migliore dei modi, strette di mano, brindisi, sorrisi, commozione, qualche lacrima e la consegna, da parte della Mercedes di un assegno, un contributo di 1.500 euro alla "Operazione Mino" ed alle centinaia dei suoi piccoli ospiti, bisognosi di assistenza e solidarietà. Applausi sentiti e meritatissimi a volontari e specialisti che li assistono con grande umanità aiutandoli a crescere, a vivere meglio. "La nostra azienda - ha dichiarato con legittimo orgoglio Stefano Morbidelli - da tempo è attenta al sociale e questo incontro, questo abbinamento con il mondo di Giz, poter aiutare bambini e le loro famiglie, ci è sembrato il modo migliore per ringraziare la fiducia e la fedeltà dei nostri sempre più numerosi ed affezionatissimi clienti".

A Campanha Outubro Rosa encerrou com números positivos em Criciúma. Durante todo o mês, foram realizados 6.336 procedimentos, entre solicitações de mamografias e exames citopatológicos (preventivos). No mês anterior, as Unidades Básicas de Saúde (UBS) registraram 3.121 procedimentos. A iniciativa da Secretaria Municipal de Saúde visava conscientizar a população e fortalecer a prevenção e detecção precoce do câncer de mama e de colo de útero. De acordo com os números, foram 4.819 preventivos realizados, sendo que em setembro foram 2.195. O cuidado deve ser feito durante o ano todo, mas a campanha é para intensificar essa ação”, comentou o secretário municipal de Saúde, Acélio Casagrande. A iniciativa incluiu palestras, atividades e atendimentos com horário estendido nos postos de saúde, além de bate-papos em empresas. Conforme a gerente da Atenção Básica, Eliane Santos, as solicitações de mamografias foram para faixa etária preconizada, entre 50 e 69 anos. “Conseguimos atingir a nossa meta, realizamos uma busca ativa com as mulheres que há mais de um ano não faziam os exames, principalmente a faixa preconizada que é entre 50 e 69 anos. Conseguimos realizar mais de 1.517 solicitações de mamografias para esse público”, explicou. Ola Amigos, it looks like we got ourselves an official vehicle for The Casagrandes. The new Casa Van is based on the van seen in the trailer for The Casagrandes Movie which I am super hyped about. This Gavril H-Series was and is still owned by Rosa and Hector Casagrande. It not only had outlandish colours. But, it also had an engine tune-up, off-road suspension and several creature comforts that made it fit for a vacation van. It is made to tame the toughest roads in Mexico and take on whatever Punguari throws at it.
