Trilogy Rosehip Oil Review
Explore the benefits, limitations, and overall performance of Trilogy Rosehip Oil in this detailed review.
Why Choose Trilogy Rosehip Oil?
Trilogy Rosehip Oil uses just one natural ingredient: rosehip oil. Its minimalistic formula makes it an excellent option for those wanting straightforward skincare.
The Extraction Process
Trilogy Rosehip Oil is made from the seeds of the Rosa canina plant, using a cold-pressing technique designed to preserve the oil’s active nutrients.
If heat enters the process, the oil’s quality could suffer. Provided Trilogy adheres to a purely cold-pressed method, the oil’s potency should remain intact.
The Benefits of Trilogy Rosehip Oil
1. Improves Skin Radiance
Supports Cell Renewal: The retinoic acid in rosehip oil promotes gentle exfoliation, encouraging fresh skin cells to surface for a brighter, healthier look.
Minimises Inflammation: Rosehip oil’s anti-inflammatory properties reduce redness and prevent excess melanin production, helping maintain a more even skin tone.
2. Boosts Skin Hydration This oil strengthens the skin barrier by delivering linoleic acid, a vital lipid that prevents moisture loss. The result? Softer, plumper, and more hydrated skin.
3. Aids Skin Recovery Retinoic acid in rosehip oil supports collagen production, helping heal minor skin concerns like redness and bruising. It’s not intended for open wounds but can improve the appearance of minor blemishes.
4. Offers Anti-Ageing Effects As we age, collagen levels drop, leading to fine lines and sagging. Rosehip oil stimulates collagen synthesis, smoothing wrinkles and restoring firmness. When paired with complementary ingredients like Centella Asiatica, it may also reduce the visibility of stretch marks.
5. Helps Manage Acne Rosehip oil can benefit acne-prone skin in multiple ways:
Clears Pores: Its linoleic acid content prevents sebum from becoming sticky and clogging pores.
Speeds Up Skin Turnover: Retinoic acid removes dead skin cells that can block pores.
Balances Sebum Levels: It helps regulate oil production, reducing the likelihood of breakouts.
What It Doesn’t Do
While Trilogy Rosehip Oil offers many benefits, it’s not a miracle product:
Doesn’t Add Hydration: It helps lock in moisture but needs to be paired with a hydrating product for optimal results.
Won’t Eliminate Acne: Although it supports acne-prone skin, it doesn’t combat acne-causing bacteria.
Not a Serum Substitute: While it contains retinoic acid, it doesn’t match the strength of a dedicated retinoid serum.
Can’t Replace Exfoliants: While it boosts cell turnover, it’s not a substitute for chemical exfoliants like salicylic acid.
Overall Thoughts on Trilogy Rosehip Oil
Trilogy Rosehip Oil is a no-frills product that delivers on its promises. It enhances skin brightness, provides hydration, and supports skin repair, making it a great addition to any skincare regimen. That said, its price point is slightly higher than other rosehip oils.
Best Time to Use:
Apply it in the evening to avoid interference with sunscreen during the day. Thanks to its lightweight formula, it also works well under makeup.
Final Verdict
Trilogy Rosehip Oil is a versatile skincare staple that delivers noticeable results. While it’s not a replacement for specialised serums or exfoliants, it’s an excellent complement to your routine, helping maintain a radiant and healthy complexion.

To quickly note, I received this for free from Picky and VIDIVICI for my honest review.
Tumblr media
This product contains 120 ml (4.05 oz) and has a pretty noticeable slightly perfume-y scent.
Tumblr media
The cleanser has kind of a fluffy creamy texture.
Tumblr media
After adding water, the cleanser is quite creamy and soft on the skin.
Tumblr media
Once it's rinsed clean, I really noticed a slightly squeaky clean feeling, it wasn't irritating but it really made it a little bit difficult to rinse off of the skin. Luckily it didn't leave a residue or feel dry after rinsing.
Recommended use is to apply over a wet face with gentle massaging motions. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. After using, first to note, this has a very strong fragrance, I'd describe it as floral and kind of perfumey. If this is going to be a problem, please pass on this cleanser. The ingredients however are pretty nice with a few irritants and many beneficial ingredients for any skin type. I have dry/sensitive leaning skin and I didn't have any issues. And as I mentioned above, this cleanser does have a kind of squeaky feeling when rinsing it off which I like to avoid as normally that's quite drying for me. But, my skin felt soft and smooth after using, minus any residue or film. It does a nice job in a double cleanse and removes all of the makeup left after an oil cleanser quite efficiently and when using a cotton pad and wiping it on your skin with toner, there's no makeup leftover at all. You can also get away with using very little product, it spreads well and it does bubble up very well. The texture is soft and pleasant to the touch. I'd recommend this to anyone with oily, combination, and dry skin, but if you have very sensitive skin or just don't care for fragrance, there are other options out there.
What I like: I really enjoyed how smooth my skin was after using it and the soft creamy texture of the cleanser. I like the ingredients a lot and feel like it really cleanses the skin and removes any leftover makeup or sunscreen well. It also doesn't leave a film or residue once rinsed off. What I don't like: this product has a very strong scent, there are several irritants and this has a noticeable squeaky feeling on the skin and it's harder to rinse off as a result.
Pros:
Hydrating
Non-drying
Nice ingredients
Lovely texture
Removes makeup and sunscreen well
Doesn't leave a film or residue
Cons:
Fragrance
Some irritants
Kind of difficult to rinse off
Would I buy this?
Probably not
Rating: 7.5/10

Rosehip Oil Scent: A Comprehensive Guide to the Benefits and Uses
Rosehip oil Scent, derived from the fruit and seeds of wild rose bushes, is a versatile and popular natural oil with numerous potential benefits. This oil is known for its high content of vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids, making it a valuable addition to skincare and wellness routines. In this comprehensive guide, we will explore the properties of rosehip oil, its potential benefits, and its common uses. Additionally, we will delve into the scent of rosehip oil and how it contributes to its overall appeal. Let’s dive in!
Tumblr media
Properties and Composition of Rosehip Oil:
Rosehip oil is primarily sourced from the Rosa canina L. species, with the fruit and seeds of wild rose bushes being pressed to extract the oil. The oil is rich in various beneficial components, including:
Vitamin C: Rosehip oil is known for its high vitamin C content, which acts as a potent antioxidant, protecting the skin against damage caused by free radicals and helping repair sun damage. The vitamin C in rosehip oil also aids in collagen production, contributing to a smoother and more youthful complexion.
Vitamin A: The presence of vitamin A, particularly in the form of trans retinoic acid, provides anti-aging benefits. Rosehip oil can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation, promoting a more even and brighter skin tone.
Essential Fatty Acids: Rosehip oil contains essential fatty acids such as linoleic acid, alpha-linolenic acid, oleic acid, and gamma linolenic acid. These fatty acids are crucial for maintaining skin hydration and elasticity, making rosehip oil an effective moisturizing agent.
Carotenoids: Carotenoids in rosehip oil contribute to skin health by promoting the production of new skin cells, thereby helping to keep the skin fresh and rejuvenated.
Tumblr media
Potential Benefits of Rosehip Oil:
Skin Protection: The antioxidant properties of vitamin C in rosehip oil protect the skin against oxidative stress and sun damage. It can also aid in repairing the skin after sun exposure, reducing signs of aging caused by UV rays.
Acne Relief: The presence of retinoids and linoleic acid in rosehip oil can help regulate skin cell production, prevent pore clogging, and reduce inflammation, making it beneficial for individuals with acne-prone skin.
Eczema Treatment: Rosehip oil’s phenols with antibacterial properties can help combat skin conditions like eczema. The oil’s ability to repair the skin barrier and provide moisture can also alleviate eczema symptoms.
Scar Treatment: Early research suggests that rosehip oil may help reduce the appearance of scars and promote scar healing after skin surgeries.
Stretch Mark Prevention: Although research is limited, a study demonstrated that a cream containing rosehip oil, vitamin E, and other oils helped pregnant women avoid severe stretch marks, indicating potential stretch mark prevention properties.
The Scent of Rosehip Oil:
The natural scent of rosehip oil is mild and earthy, often described as having a subtle, nutty aroma. Since rosehip oil is pressed from the seeds of wild rosehip fruit, it does not possess the typical floral scent associated with full-grown roses. The earthy scent adds to the oil’s allure and is generally well-received.
Common Uses of Rosehip Oil:
Skincare: Rosehip oil is commonly used in skincare routines as a facial oil, moisturizer, or added ingredient in creams, serums, and lotions. Its nourishing properties make it suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.
Massage Oil: The lightweight texture of rosehip oil makes it an excellent choice for massage, providing a relaxing and moisturizing experience.
Hair Care: Rosehip oil can be applied to the hair and scalp to moisturize and promote healthier hair.
Aromatherapy: The natural aroma of rosehip oil can contribute to aromatherapy practices, providing a calming and grounding effect during massages or diffusing.
Conclusion:
Rosehip oil is a versatile and beneficial natural oil with numerous potential benefits for skincare and overall wellness. The Ordinary Rosehip Oil: A Detailed Look at Its Benefits
In this article, we will examine the many benefits of Ordinary Rosehip Oil and how it can enhance your skincare regimen.
With just one core ingredient—rosehip oil—it’s simple and effective.
Let’s dive into how this oil is sourced, its key benefits, and what it can’t do for your skin.
How The Ordinary Rosehip Oil is Extracted
Rosehip oil is sourced from the seeds of the Rosa canina plant. The method used to extract the oil is crucial in preserving its potent active ingredients and ensuring its optimal performance.
The Ordinary employs a cold-pressing technique to extract the oil, which avoids heat and helps maintain the oil’s full potency. This method ensures that the oil’s beneficial properties are preserved, preventing degradation from heat.
The Benefits of The Ordinary Rosehip Oil
Rosehip oil is famous for its range of skin benefits, making it an excellent addition to your skincare routine.
1. Brightens the Complexion
Rosehip oil brightens the skin in several ways:
Anti-inflammatory Properties: Rich in anti-inflammatory compounds, rosehip oil helps calm irritated skin and reduce redness. Inflammation often leads to an increase in melanin production, which can cause dark spots and uneven skin tone. Rosehip oil helps to prevent these issues and can brighten the complexion over time by soothing inflammation.
Linoleic Acid for Skin Barrier Strength: One of the main components of rosehip oil is linoleic acid, a fatty acid that supports the skin’s natural barrier. This helps keep the skin hydrated and prevents moisture loss. When the skin barrier is compromised, it’s more vulnerable to dryness, irritation, and breakouts. Linoleic acid strengthens the barrier, resulting in softer, hydrated, and radiant skin.
Retinoic Acid for Skin Renewal: Rosehip oil contains retinoic acid, a powerful anti-ageing ingredient. Retinoic acid speeds up cell turnover, removing dull, dead skin cells and revealing fresher, more youthful skin. This process helps brighten the skin and even out its tone.
2. Helps with Acne-Prone Skin
Rosehip oil can be particularly helpful for those with acne-prone skin. Here’s how:
Unclogs Pores: Acne occurs when pores become blocked by excess sebum (skin oil) and dead skin cells. Studies show that sebum in acne-prone skin is often deficient in linoleic acid, making it stickier and more likely to block pores. Rosehip oil, which is rich in linoleic acid, helps to thin out the sebum, making it less likely to clog pores.
Reduces Dead Skin Build-up: The retinoic acid in rosehip oil promotes quicker skin cell turnover. This helps shed dead skin cells before they accumulate and clog pores. By keeping pores clear, rosehip oil can help prevent breakouts.
Regulates Sebum Production: Overproduction of sebum can contribute to acne. Rosehip oil helps regulate this process, balancing oil production. This makes it beneficial for those with oily skin who are prone to excess shine and breakouts.
3. Anti-Ageing Properties
Rosehip oil is also recognised for its anti-ageing effects, largely due to its retinoic acid content.
Boosts Collagen Production: Collagen is the protein responsible for the skin’s firmness and elasticity. As we age, collagen production slows down, leading to sagging skin and wrinkles. Rosehip oil stimulates collagen production, helping to promote firmer, younger-looking skin.
Improves Skin Texture: By increasing cell turnover, rosehip oil helps smooth the skin’s surface, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Over time, this results in a more youthful and radiant complexion.
Texture and Suitability for All Skin Types
The Ordinary Rosehip Oil has a light, non-greasy texture that absorbs quickly into the skin. This makes it ideal for all skin types, whether you have oily, dry, or combination skin. It’s also gentle enough to be used under makeup, leaving the skin with a soft, luminous finish.
What The Ordinary Rosehip Oil Can't Do
While rosehip oil has numerous skin benefits, it’s important to be aware of its limitations:
Doesn’t Add Hydration: While rosehip oil helps prevent moisture loss by strengthening the skin’s barrier, it doesn’t directly hydrate the skin. For added hydration, consider pairing rosehip oil with a serum that contains humectants, such as hyaluronic acid.
Won’t Cure Acne: Rosehip oil aids in unclogging pores and preventing breakouts, but it doesn’t target the bacteria responsible for acne. It works best when used as part of a broader skincare routine, alongside products that fight acne-causing bacteria.
Not a Replacement for Exfoliation: While rosehip oil helps with cell turnover, it’s not a substitute for exfoliating acids like salicylic acid or lactic acid. These chemical exfoliants are more effective at deeply cleansing pores and removing dead skin from the surface.
Not a Full Substitute for Retinoids: Although rosehip oil contains retinoic acid, it doesn’t offer the same powerful anti-ageing effects as a retinoid serum. For more noticeable results, consider combining a retinoid product with rosehip oil.
Conclusion: The Ordinary Rosehip Oil
The Ordinary Rosehip Oil is a simple yet powerful product, featuring just one ingredient. It’s an affordable addition to your skincare routine, offering multiple benefits, including brightening, acne prevention, and anti-ageing effects. However, it doesn’t add hydration on its own, so it should be used as part of a complete skincare regimen.
When to Apply Rosehip Oil
Plant oils like rosehip oil are best applied at night. During the day, plant oils can interfere with sunscreen, essential for protecting the skin from UV damage. At night, rosehip oil effectively repairs and rejuvenates the skin.
Final Thoughts
Overall, The Ordinary Rosehip Oil is a great product to incorporate into your skincare routine. It’s affordable, effective, and suitable for all skin types. If you aim to brighten your skin, reduce acne, or combat signs of ageing, rosehip oil is definitely worth considering. Below is a video on my YouTube channel about this:

Unveiling the Marvels of Organic Rosehip: Nature's Elixir for Radiant Skin
In the realm of natural skincare, organic rosehip has emerged as a powerhouse ingredient, celebrated for its myriad benefits. This blog post delves into the captivating world of organic rosehip, exploring its origins, the science behind its skincare prowess, and practical tips for incorporating this botanical gem into your daily routine.
1. The Origins of Organic Rosehip
Derived from the wild rose species Rosa canina, organic rosehip, often referred to as rosehip seed oil, has been used for centuries for its medicinal and cosmetic properties. Native to Europe, Asia, and Africa, this resilient fruit has found its way into modern skincare, captivating beauty enthusiasts with its rich nutrient profile.
2. Nutrient-Rich Composition
At the heart of organic rosehip's skincare magic lies its exceptional nutrient composition. Abundant in essential fatty acids, such as omega-3 and omega-6, it nourishes the skin, promoting elasticity and suppleness. Additionally, the oil boasts a high concentration of vitamins A and C, known for their skin-renewing and brightening properties.
3. Benefits for Skin Health
Hydration and Moisture Retention: Organic rosehip is a natural emollient, sealing in moisture without clogging pores. This makes it a valuable asset for individuals with dry or dehydrated skin.
Anti-Aging Properties: The antioxidants in rosehip oil, combined with its ability to stimulate collagen production, contribute to a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, promoting a more youthful complexion.
Scar Reduction: Organic rosehip's regenerative properties make it effective in diminishing scars and promoting the healing of skin damage, including acne scars and stretch marks.
Even Skin Tone: The high vitamin C content in rosehip oil brightens the skin, addressing hyperpigmentation and promoting a more even skin tone.
4. Incorporating Organic Rosehip into Your Skincare Routine
Facial Serums: Organic rosehip is a popular ingredient in facial serums. Its lightweight texture makes it easily absorbable, providing a nourishing boost without feeling heavy on the skin.
Moisturizers: Infuse your daily moisturizer with a few drops of organic rosehip oil for added hydration. This is especially beneficial during colder months when the skin tends to be more prone to dryness.
DIY Face Masks: Create a rejuvenating face mask by combining organic rosehip oil with natural ingredients like honey or yogurt. This concoction can revitalize and refresh the skin.
5. Sourcing High-Quality Organic Rosehip
Choosing the right product is paramount when integrating organic rosehip into your skincare routine. Look for products labeled as organic and cold-pressed, as this extraction method retains the oil's full nutrient profile. Additionally, opt for products in dark, opaque bottles to protect the oil from light exposure, ensuring its stability.
6. Potential Considerations and Allergies
While organic rosehip is generally well-tolerated, it's crucial to perform a patch test before widespread use, especially for individuals with sensitive skin. Consultation with a dermatologist can provide personalized insights, ensuring that the oil aligns with your skin's unique needs.
Conclusion
Organic rosehip stands as a testament to nature's ability to nurture and rejuvenate the skin. Whether you're aiming to address specific skin concerns or enhance your daily skincare ritual, incorporating this botanical elixir can unveil a radiant, healthier complexion. Embrace the natural beauty of organic rosehip and let its transformative properties elevate your skincare journey.
