Does Rosehip Oil Help or make Acne Worse?
In this video, I’ll take you through five key points regarding rosehip oil and acne.
Pores are small openings found on the face. When excess oil, known as sebum, accumulates in the pores, it attracts bacteria, which is the first step towards breakouts like acne and pimples.
Since rosehip oil is an oil, many assume it will clog pores and lead to more breakouts.
So, people with acne-prone skin might think they should avoid it.
However, the reality is that rosehip oil doesn’t cause acne; in fact, it can help fight against it. Let me explain.
There is a scale called the comedogenic scale, which rates skincare products on their likelihood of causing acne. This scale runs from 1 to 5, with higher numbers indicating a greater likelihood of clogging pores. Rosehip oil scores a 1, meaning it’s very unlikely to cause acne.
Studies show that people with acne-prone skin tend to have lower levels of linoleic acid in their sebum (facial oil).
Linoleic acid helps oil flow easily. When sebum is low in linoleic acid, it can clog pores more easily. Rosehip oil is high in linoleic acid, so when applied to the face, it mixes with the sebum, helping it flow in and out of pores more smoothly, reducing the chances of clogging.
Rosehip oil and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH): Acne scars, or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, appear after acne has healed. Rosehip oil can help reduce the chances of scarring because it’s rich in antioxidants like ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and has anti-inflammatory properties.
These ingredients help minimize pigmentation.
How does rosehip oil help fight acne? Rosehip oil’s linoleic acid content helps sebum flow easily, but it also contains trans-retinoic acid, a natural form of vitamin A.
This vitamin promotes the production of new skin cells. More new cells mean old, unwanted cells are replaced faster, reducing the likelihood of clogged pores and breakouts.
However, it’s important to remember: Rosehip oil should be considered primarily as a moisturizer with added acne-fighting benefits. It is not an acne treatment or a fix for acne scars.
It’s not an exfoliant, nor does it specialize in eliminating dead skin cells to prevent pore blockage. Its main benefit is moisturizing the skin, with some additional help against acne.
For best results, use rosehip oil alongside other anti-acne and anti-pigmentation ingredients like salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. These will address acne and scars more effectively, while rosehip oil will complement them with its moisturizing and minor acne-fighting properties.
Two important points about rosehip oil:
Use at night: It’s better to use rosehip oil at night, as facial oils can dilute the effectiveness of sunscreen. Sunscreen is essential during the day, and we don’t want anything to interfere with it.
Cold-pressed extraction: Rosehip oil is a plant-based oil, extracted from the seeds of the Rosa canina plant. The benefits of plant oils can vary depending on how they are extracted and where the plant is grown. Cold-pressing is a good extraction method, so keep that in mind when choosing a rosehip oil.
That’s all for this post!

To quickly note, I received this for free from Picky and VIDIVICI for my honest review.
Tumblr media
This product contains 120 ml (4.05 oz) and has a pretty noticeable slightly perfume-y scent.
Tumblr media
The cleanser has kind of a fluffy creamy texture.
Tumblr media
After adding water, the cleanser is quite creamy and soft on the skin.
Tumblr media
Once it's rinsed clean, I really noticed a slightly squeaky clean feeling, it wasn't irritating but it really made it a little bit difficult to rinse off of the skin. Luckily it didn't leave a residue or feel dry after rinsing.
Recommended use is to apply over a wet face with gentle massaging motions. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. After using, first to note, this has a very strong fragrance, I'd describe it as floral and kind of perfumey. If this is going to be a problem, please pass on this cleanser. The ingredients however are pretty nice with a few irritants and many beneficial ingredients for any skin type. I have dry/sensitive leaning skin and I didn't have any issues. And as I mentioned above, this cleanser does have a kind of squeaky feeling when rinsing it off which I like to avoid as normally that's quite drying for me. But, my skin felt soft and smooth after using, minus any residue or film. It does a nice job in a double cleanse and removes all of the makeup left after an oil cleanser quite efficiently and when using a cotton pad and wiping it on your skin with toner, there's no makeup leftover at all. You can also get away with using very little product, it spreads well and it does bubble up very well. The texture is soft and pleasant to the touch. I'd recommend this to anyone with oily, combination, and dry skin, but if you have very sensitive skin or just don't care for fragrance, there are other options out there.
What I like: I really enjoyed how smooth my skin was after using it and the soft creamy texture of the cleanser. I like the ingredients a lot and feel like it really cleanses the skin and removes any leftover makeup or sunscreen well. It also doesn't leave a film or residue once rinsed off. What I don't like: this product has a very strong scent, there are several irritants and this has a noticeable squeaky feeling on the skin and it's harder to rinse off as a result.
Pros:
Hydrating
Non-drying
Nice ingredients
Lovely texture
Removes makeup and sunscreen well
Doesn't leave a film or residue
Cons:
Fragrance
Some irritants
Kind of difficult to rinse off
Would I buy this?
Probably not
Rating: 7.5/10

Rosehip Oil Scent: A Comprehensive Guide to the Benefits and Uses
Rosehip oil Scent, derived from the fruit and seeds of wild rose bushes, is a versatile and popular natural oil with numerous potential benefits. This oil is known for its high content of vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids, making it a valuable addition to skincare and wellness routines. In this comprehensive guide, we will explore the properties of rosehip oil, its potential benefits, and its common uses. Additionally, we will delve into the scent of rosehip oil and how it contributes to its overall appeal. Let’s dive in!
Tumblr media
Properties and Composition of Rosehip Oil:
Rosehip oil is primarily sourced from the Rosa canina L. species, with the fruit and seeds of wild rose bushes being pressed to extract the oil. The oil is rich in various beneficial components, including:
Vitamin C: Rosehip oil is known for its high vitamin C content, which acts as a potent antioxidant, protecting the skin against damage caused by free radicals and helping repair sun damage. The vitamin C in rosehip oil also aids in collagen production, contributing to a smoother and more youthful complexion.
Vitamin A: The presence of vitamin A, particularly in the form of trans retinoic acid, provides anti-aging benefits. Rosehip oil can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation, promoting a more even and brighter skin tone.
Essential Fatty Acids: Rosehip oil contains essential fatty acids such as linoleic acid, alpha-linolenic acid, oleic acid, and gamma linolenic acid. These fatty acids are crucial for maintaining skin hydration and elasticity, making rosehip oil an effective moisturizing agent.
Carotenoids: Carotenoids in rosehip oil contribute to skin health by promoting the production of new skin cells, thereby helping to keep the skin fresh and rejuvenated.
Tumblr media
Potential Benefits of Rosehip Oil:
Skin Protection: The antioxidant properties of vitamin C in rosehip oil protect the skin against oxidative stress and sun damage. It can also aid in repairing the skin after sun exposure, reducing signs of aging caused by UV rays.
Acne Relief: The presence of retinoids and linoleic acid in rosehip oil can help regulate skin cell production, prevent pore clogging, and reduce inflammation, making it beneficial for individuals with acne-prone skin.
Eczema Treatment: Rosehip oil’s phenols with antibacterial properties can help combat skin conditions like eczema. The oil’s ability to repair the skin barrier and provide moisture can also alleviate eczema symptoms.
Scar Treatment: Early research suggests that rosehip oil may help reduce the appearance of scars and promote scar healing after skin surgeries.
Stretch Mark Prevention: Although research is limited, a study demonstrated that a cream containing rosehip oil, vitamin E, and other oils helped pregnant women avoid severe stretch marks, indicating potential stretch mark prevention properties.
The Scent of Rosehip Oil:
The natural scent of rosehip oil is mild and earthy, often described as having a subtle, nutty aroma. Since rosehip oil is pressed from the seeds of wild rosehip fruit, it does not possess the typical floral scent associated with full-grown roses. The earthy scent adds to the oil’s allure and is generally well-received.
Common Uses of Rosehip Oil:
Skincare: Rosehip oil is commonly used in skincare routines as a facial oil, moisturizer, or added ingredient in creams, serums, and lotions. Its nourishing properties make it suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.
Massage Oil: The lightweight texture of rosehip oil makes it an excellent choice for massage, providing a relaxing and moisturizing experience.
Hair Care: Rosehip oil can be applied to the hair and scalp to moisturize and promote healthier hair.
Aromatherapy: The natural aroma of rosehip oil can contribute to aromatherapy practices, providing a calming and grounding effect during massages or diffusing.
Conclusion:
Rosehip oil is a versatile and beneficial natural oil with numerous potential benefits for skincare and overall wellness. With its rich composition of vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids, rosehip oil has become a popular choice among individuals seeking effective and natural skincare solutions. Benefits of using rosehip oil for skin
There are so many different ingredients in skincare products. It is hard to know which skincare products are the recommended ingredient.
Rosehip oil for the skin is one of these ingredients recommended in skincare products. The problem is that if you don’t know why you should look for this ingredient in your products, you won’t make use of the best products on the market. We will make it easier for you to give you everything you need to know about Rosehips and why this is an ingredient that needs to be in skincare products.
What is rosehip oil?
Before you can understand why this ingredient is so essential for your best daily face moisturizer, you need to understand what Rosehip is in the first place. Rosehips come from wild roses known as dog roses or Rosa Canina. This is the fruit of the rose and can be found under the petals.
The fruit can be used in teas, sauces and even as an ingredient in your skincare products. It is important to remember that rosehip seed oil and rosehip oil is one and the same thing.
These are the benefits of the oil and the main reasons why this is something that you need to look for in your products.
It contains nutrients
This is the main reason this oil is used in the best clean moisturizer for the face. The number of nutrients you can find in the rosehips. It is rich in vitamins A, C, and E. It also contains fatty acids. The fatty acids are known to be anti-inflammatory, and this is the main reason why it is so beneficial in skincare products.
We all know that it is essential to consider anti-inflammatory ingredients with skin products, and this is precisely what you will get with products with this ingredient.
Stimulate collagen improving fine lines
Yes, rosehip oil for skin improves fine lines and wrinkles. This is because it stimulates collagen. Collagen is the one thing that makes sure that our skin is wrinkle-free and that we don’t get fine lines as fast.
The older we get, the less collagen our bodies produce. And this is the main reason we get wrinkles as we get older. With skincare products with Rosehip, we will have collagen for longer.
Improves acne and acne scars
Those struggling with acne and acne scars know how difficult it can be to get rid of it. You can use many skincare products for acne, but it doesn’t always work. The best daily face moisturizer for acne will have rosehip oil in it.
Yes, many skincare products are designed for acne, but they will never work as great as those with this oil as an ingredient. It would be best if you remembered that acne is different from pimples. Pimples are something people get from time to time. Acne is a lot more than just pimples and leaves ugly scars.

Great barrier relief

GREAT BARRIER RELIEF SKIN
GREAT BARRIER RELIEF FREE
Which Ingredients are classified as Paraben?Ī product will be paraben-free if it does not contain any of the following parabens: If not, don't worry about it - they do have had one of the longest safety records as preservatives!
GREAT BARRIER RELIEF FREE
If you are concerned about the health safety of parabens, then feel free to avoid them by looking out for the Paraben-Free icon. There's still a lot of support for avoiding parabens following the better safe than sorry route. However, the majority of the scientific community have deemed these findings non-conclusive due to the limitations of these studies. There has been some healthy controversy surrounding them due to a few studies finding paraben presence in breast tumours and breast tissue.
GREAT BARRIER RELIEF SKIN
He has more of a dry combo skin – slightly oily inside, generally dry outside.Parabens are a large group of preservatives which are used to prevent bacteria growing in cosmetic formulations. Not only me, but my boyfriend who has some troubles do notice that it helps his skin too as compared to without. Whenever I have pimples or irritated skin, I use this and I do notice that it helps accelerate the healing of my skin. Great for those who likes products with no added fragrance though! I don’t really mind but the smell could be strong and unpleasant for some of you who like their skincare products to be of calming and pleasant scents. Natural in the sense that you can tell there is no fragrance involved in the making which can be off putting for some people. Never had issues with my skin feeling dry or oily but the scent is a bit … natural. Sometimes when I’m feeling lazy or minimalistic, I use this as a last step, like a moisturiser. This is a hydrating and moisturising serum that feels so much like a lightweight moisturiser for me. Well, I almost did but I’m kind of glad I waited! Hearing Liah Yoo praising Tamanu oil, I almost got the Tamanu oil to try while waiting for GBR to release. That in itself was a pleasant surprise for me. This is a ‘serum’ with Tamanu oil and despite having 10% of the oil present, this serum is not oily at all. It lasted me quite a while despite having only 40ml because I didn’t use a lot each time.īottle is pretty sturdy too, I actually dropped this one by accident when I was going to take photos for this post lol.Īnyway, pump is easy to use and dispense. I’m only left with 1/4 of product in the bottle. The product came in a pump form as seen above.
