SPOCKLAAN WEEK Day Three — Theme Day
CHARACTER POSTERS + BIOGRAPHY
Spock – full name generally considered unpronounceable by Humans – was a male Human/Vulcan hybrid who lived during the 23rd and 24th century, who became one of the most distinguished and respected figures in the United Federation of Planets. As a Starfleet officer in the 23rd century, Spock served aboard the starship USS Enterprise as science officer under Captain Christopher Pike, as first officer and science officer under Captain James T. Kirk, and as the commanding officer of the Enterprise during its tenure as a training ship. (+) La'an Noonien-Singh was born December 8, 2228 on Alpha I to Sa'an and Ronu Noonien-Singh. She also had a brother named Manu. La'an and her family were descendants of Khan Noonien Singh, the Augment tyrant who once ruled a quarter of Earth's population during the Eugenics Wars. In 2259, Lieutenant Noonien-Singh was assigned to the USS Enterprise as acting first officer following Chin-Riley's disappearance. She didn't tell Captain Pike she knew Una, fearing he wouldn't accept her for the mission. He nonetheless offered her a position on his ship after Una's rescue and La'an became permanent chief of security of the Enterprise. (+)

The Reaper's Harvest
Glancing across the fields, I watch as the battle rages. Men driven to harvest their brethren's lives for their petty lords who don't even hear of the carnage they unleashed. So much unrest had brewed over these years, constant squabbles over who owns what harvest. Getting up, I head inside the house, hoping that the battle doesn't drift to close.
Watching the Reaper work is always a pleasurable sight. Peering down at the fields I observe as he ends countless lives. The way the Reaper cuts down souls like grain with the scythe astonishes me. Such mastery of his trade. Alas I must wait for his harvest to close before we reap the spoils of his work among our halls.
The harsh clang of metal reverberates through the house, the drifting I rightfully feared come to pass. If I were to look out the window, I fear I would witness my sons. I don't know which would be worse, to see them or to know they fell in the battles of yester days. Cattle for the Reaper to harvest, our own cattle go untended and our table grows bare. I would sacrifice the little bread I have left just to hold my own little calves again.
I call for a servant to bring me a drink, a proper culling viewing isn't complete without one. Laying on my silk chaise, I ready myself for a long watch. Grabbing the mug from the servant I take a sip, a feisty one, perfect for watching the Reaper work. Lounging out, I watch as the scythe is lifted for an arc across the front line.
A loud crack rings out, the very foundation of the house shakes. My plates fall from the cupboard and smash against the ground. Silence follows. The birds dare not chirp nor the wind howl. Suddenly shouting. Loud. Chaotic. Scared. Something went wrong, horribly wrong. I huddle into a corner, hoping, praying, whatever is out there doesn't enter my home.
Howling with hysterics, I watch as the Reaper's implement soars across the plain with explosive force. The apotheos's uncanny ability predict coming events and time his harvests is remarkable and unmatched by any of us. Goosebumps break out across my skin as a soldier throws a torch over the battle and soaring into the opposing side's camp. I watch intently as the fire spreads from a tent to across the outpost. The flame reaches a crate filled with bronze pots, engulfing the containers until they burst. My eyes dart attempting to follow the burning shrapnel with maddening glee. I watch as fire consumes the battlefield and both armies begin to lose cohesion.
Why must we experience such tragedies, what gods had we offended with our mere existence. So many lives lost over the past years, my own husband taken trying to find feed for our livestock. The towns grow empty, children even lesser seen. Who will be there to take our places once we are consumed by this world? Who will be left once the gods have had their fill? Are these the end times?
I watch excitedly as the Reaper starts to finish up collecting the souls. It has been far too long since we had a good feast. I remember last week's with fondness, the stories Agronius told over the fresh meal and the argument between Ronus and Yerik are bound to stick around in memory. And with such interesting deaths too, the meal will be filled with novel flavors from their turmoil.
I gather the courage to look outside, I see not my sons nor even a lone soldier wandering. Flames greet my eyes. The heat pounds against my face, forcing me back. I scramble around my home only to find every entry letting in the same dancing orange and red hues. Entrapped like a rabbit in one of my sweet Hank's snares.
My anticipation gets stifled as I see the Reaper halt his harvest and advance towards a nearby house caught alight. Miffed at the delay, but curiosity capsulates me, so I watch as he enters the house, the flames not daring to singe his robes. I wait for his exit. I continue waiting, watching smoke rise from the building. Impatience boils until I watch the door into the house swing open again, the Reaper exiting carrying a woman, seemingly already dead. Excitement once again fills me, a smoked soul, we hadn't had one in ages, their taste nearly as divine as ourselves.
I fleet between awareness and darkness as smoke replaces air. Panic filling every sense it can. Collapsing I reach wildly for anything to grasp. My hands reach nothing to anchor them. Forcing my stinging eyes open last time, all I witness is a plume of smoke reaching out for me before the darkness wins over.
Confusion creeps over me as I watch as the woman gets laid out on the grass, unnecessary for the Reaper to harvest such a delicacy. I intently watch the Reaper as he doesn't reach for his scythe, but the soul itself. As he grips the ethereal mass and leads it into the corpse, frustration washes over me as color returns to the body. We could of had a rare delicious dish, but no, that damn apotheos and his empathy for the vermins. Fuck the Reaper.
Jolting back, smokey thoughts swirl around my head. I wasn't in my house. How did I get out here? My mouth tastes funny. How am I alive? It's raining out here. Was that actually smoke I saw? I'm thirsty. Why did I feel held by my Hank? It's night out, I thought it was early morning? Darnius and Devin aren't with their father. How long was I out? Reining in control of my thoughts, I swivel around to find home. I spot it, the outside charred, but seemingly put out by the falling rain. Making my way back home, I look back and see a farmer on the dirt road, walking away with his donkey and holding his scythe.
Despite the lack of a certain dish, once the Reaper's harvest arrived, we held a grand feast. Yerik tried to start another argument, but Kirek stepped in this time. Helat wouldn't eat much, blaming it being too spicy and instead regaled us with a battle she had earlier that day. After the feast, I retired to my chambers, wondered when the next feast would be and if the Reaper would us disappoint again.
