Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
Shadi Smith - YES
The last thing Shadi would’ve seen is Olga lying on the floor unconscious and Wright running upstairs to get help, which would’ve cleared Wright of the crime. And we know that Shadi is facing Kristoph before he dies because of the blood splatter on the cards behind him.
There is one snag however, which is that Shadi Smith is a fake name. Phoenix knows his real name though, so a Divination Seance can still be performed.
Pal Meraktis - NO
Pal didn’t see Alita shooting him because she was hidden in the noodle stand behind him. The last thing he saw was Wesley and Wocky, so not a lot would’ve changed. If anything, the Seance might show that neither Wocky or Wesley were holding a gun, but it was dark in the park, so that might’ve still been unclear.
Romaine Letouse - MOSTLY NO
It’s important to remember that the Divination Seance only shows a very brief moment before the victim dies. Romaine probably saw Daryan before getting shot, but a lot of time passed between when Romaine was shot in the second act of the concert and when he actually died, during the third act. So all Romaine would’ve seen is Apollo trying to talk to him before he died from blood loss.
At the very least, he could’ve heard the firecrackers which would’ve helped to prove that he was shot before they went off.
Drew Misham - NO
If anything, Drew’s Seance would’ve made Vera look even more guilty. The last thing he did was sip Vera’s coffee before he died. Atroquinine takes 15 minutes to take effect, and the Divination Seance definitely doesn’t go back that far, so it wouldn’t show him licking the stamp or mailing the letter that actually killed him.
Magnifi Gramarye - YES
Another clear cut one. It would be very easy to tell that Magnifi shot himself, and neither Valant or Zak were in the room when he did it.
Also just to clarify, we can assume that Magnifi Gramarye is his real name and not just a stage name. In Magnifi's case (happy disbarrment anniversary btw!) he is still called by that name, while Zak is also called by his real name, being Shadi Enigmar.
How many Ace Attorney cases would be solved immediately if they used the Divination Seance?
For those who don’t know, the Divination Seance is a mechanic introduced in the 6th main Ace Attorney game: Spirit of Justice. The way it works is that a spirit medium communes with the soul of the dead, and makes their final memories visible in the Pool of Souls. All of their senses are displayed, from what they saw to what they heard to what they smelled before they died. In game, the Divination Seance is usually used to Phoenix’s disadvantage (obviously), but what I wanted to know is what would happen if the Divination Seance was used in cases that took place not in the Kingdom of Khura’in. If the court could see what the victim saw seconds before their death, how much would that fuck over the real killer? Let’s go through the death of (almost) every single victim and find out: would this case be solved if they used the Divination Seance? This will be updated with each game every day, unless I forget.
(Thanks to my buddy Keepay for helping me out with this! He did all of the AAI 1 and 2 cases because my memory on those is pretty fuzzy.)
Things to Remember:
Divination Seance is derived from the victim’s memories, meaning if they don’t recognize a person’s voice, they won’t be able to identify it.
Divination Seance only works if the victim’s true name (and less importantly, what they look like) is known.
The victim has to actually be dead for a Seance to be possible.
Ace Attorney 1
Cindy Stone - YES
Frank had already broken into Cindy's home when she walked in, so there’s no way she wouldn’t have seen him before he bludgeoned her. A Divination Seance would clearly show this.
Mia Fey - NO
At first, this looks like the exact same situation as the Cindy Stone case. Mia and Redd White were face-to-face before she died, so he would’ve clearly shown up in the Divination Seance, right?
But then there’s that damn updated autopsy report.
Edgeworth stated that Mia lived for a few minutes after she was hit, and Divination Seances only show the last few seconds of the victim’s life. This means that the Divination Seance wouldn’t have shown the actual bludgeoning, or Redd White. As suspect as that updated autopsy report is, Edgeworth himself said that he never forged evidence, so we have to take him at his word here.
Jack Hammer - YES
Dee and Jack were face-to-face when she pushed him. I don’t think we ever learn the details of their struggle, so maybe it would still be unclear whether or not it was self defense on Vasquez’s part.
Robert Hammond - YES
Again again, Yanni and Hammond saw each other before Yanni shot Hammond in the heart. We don’t get a lot of details about what happened in the shack, but we have no reason to assume this wasn’t the case. I promise these are gonna get more interesting.
Gregory Edgeworth - MAYBE
So in this case, the Divination Seance would show that the defendants (Miles Edgeworth and Yanni Yogi in this case) are innocent, but wouldn’t show who the culprit is, so I’m gonna say at the very least, it’s partially solved. The Seance would reveal that Gregory didn’t die when Miles threw the gun, and that all three of them passed out before the second gunshot was fired. However, we know from Von Karma’s testimony that Gregory was unconscious when he was shot, so he wouldn’t have seen his killer’s face.
But! Miles said that he heard Von Karma scream right after he threw the gun, obviously that means that Gregory heard it too. The question is, would he have recognized it as Von Karma’s voice, and would it have shown up as Von Karma’s voice in the Pool of Souls? To answer that, I point you towards Inga’s Divination Seance. Here he recognizes the voice he’s talking to over the phone as one of his subordinates (after a refining from Rayfa) but even after it’s proven that Datz was the one laughing over the phone, the sound still shows up in the pool as just “Laughter.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is why it’s important to remember that the Divination Seance is derived from the victim’s memories. Inga recognized his subordinate's voice (but probably not his name, lol) but he didn’t know what Datz’s voice sounds like, at least not well enough to recognize it. In the same vein, Gregory would absolutely recognize Von Karma’s voice because they just spend the whole day in court together, as well as them meeting during the investigation.
Now what this really all boils down to is if Gregory would recognize Von Karma screaming in particular. Miles didn’t recognize the voice even though he also knew Von Karma, but he was also a stressed and delirious kid when he heard the scream. Gregory’s memories are probably more reliable, and he’s probably heard Von Karma shouting either during the Inherited Turnabout investigation or the trial afterward. But, as much as I wanna say this is a yes, we can’t know for sure.
Bruce Goodman - YES
After that long-winded explanation, we’re back to another easy one. Bruce and Damon were alone in the evidence room when Damon did the deed, so he would clearly show up in the vision, or at the very least, his voice would be heard.
Neil Marshall - NO
This is another Gregory situation, but unfortunately much more unclear. Neil was unconscious when he died so he wouldn’t have seen Gant but at least it would be clear that neither Ema or Darke killed him. Neil had already knocked out Darke when Ema pushed him, and it would’ve been clear that Neil didn’t die from Ema’s shove, but much later. Of course, since Neil was blacked out, the argument could be made that Darke woke up first, and simply stabbed Neil while Neil was unconscious. Even with the Divination Seance, there’s no way to prove that Gant did the deed.

hey calyrex is tomato afruit or a veggietable
Is this really a question…
A tomato is a fruit.
Well, I guess it could be more specifically referred to as a type of berry due to the way tomatoes grow on certain plants and with seeds in a certain way…
But then again, that would mean apples could be considered berries as well, but they are not grown in the same way as berries.
Not to mention that some tomatoes do not grow like berries, instead growing like that of a lemon or an apple.
But if some tomatoes are berries, but some are not, then are all tomatoes the same type of food, or are we as living beings simply miscategorizing them and organizing them into such arbitrary and useless terms and boxes?
Then again, there ARE different types of each type of fruit and vegetable. Honeycrisp Apples and Granny Smith Apples… Iceberg Lettuce and Romaine Lettuce… Shaderoot Carrots and Iceroot Carrots…
It’s all peculiar, and I suppose the origin of this debate falls from the desire of all living beings to Know and Learn.
..I went off-track. They are not vegetables.

Temperance. Weiser Waite Smith Tarot
Tumblr media
A figure stands at a river, mixing two cups. One is filled with hot water, the other cold water. The figure has one foot in the river, one foot on the ground. In contemporary decks, the figure is often portrayed as an angel; traditionally, however, it is not an angel but a hermaphrodite. Temperance is about blending two extremes, or two opposites, to create something new. The hot and cold water combines in her cups to create something temperate. The male and female bodies are combined to create the hermaphrodite. There is also a sense of hanging back here, of waiting to see what the river will bring to us as it flows. Temperance is represented by the number fourteen. Temperance is an easily misunderstood card, as it has become associated mostly with abstention. Not drinking, not participating, denying yourself something. But that breaks away from the origins of the card, which traditionally portrays a hermaphrodite blending two cups of water—one hot and one cold—to create something in the middle between these two extremes. Ovid’s story of Hermaphroditus shows the child as the offspring of the Greek deities Hermes and Aphrodite. He was born a boy and was so beautiful that even a nymph, sworn to chastity and devotion to the Greek virgin moon goddess Artemis, flung herself at him. Her desire was so strong that they fused into one being, with the sexual characteristics of both male and female. The theme, then, is not about abstention but about finding a middle way. It is about taking two opposites and creating something new. There have been great androgynous women stars, from Marlene Dietrich in a tuxedo to Katharine Hepburn with her swagger and her trousers. Fewer male performers are willing to exhibit their feminine side. The stand-up comedian Eddie Izzard performed in dresses and heels, and the witty Irishman Oscar Wilde grew out his hair to scandalous lengths for his time, but it’s been more socially acceptable for women to express masculinity than for men to express femininity. The so-called glam rock of the early 1970s was an interesting gender-bending era, as men discovered the pleasures of sequins and feathers, eyeliner and lipstick. Musicians such as Marc Bolan of T. Rex, David Bowie, and Brian Eno of Roxy Music dressed up, flirted, and presented themselves in a feminine mode. It’s a bit of a shame that the era ended. If anything, the Temperance card argues against overcorrection—from veering from one extreme to another, like a person who has had a terrible diet for years, filling himself with junk food and beer, and then becomes a militant juice-fast follower and lectures others on how they need to leech out toxins. Or an atheist who converts immediately to a fundamentalist religious belief. Temperance asks you to find another way. Wherever you are the most steadfast, wherever you are the most stubborn and rigid, that is where Temperance is asking you to reconsider your extreme position. If your work is too logical, maybe you need to spend some time with the surrealists. If your work is too minimalist, maybe it’s time to explore decadence. If your work is too feminine, maybe it’s time to pull out that tuxedo. That kind of painstaking rebalancing takes time and patience, because it’s too easy to just grab the steering wheel and wrench it in the opposite direction. RECOMMENDED MATERIALS The Slider, recording by T. Rex Orlando, film directed by Sally Potter Una, Lady Troubridge, painting by Romaine Brooks Jessa Crispin

How to Use Water Crackers in Soups and Salads?
Water crackers, with their crisp, neutral flavor and light texture, are often enjoyed as a simple snack, but they can also be creatively incorporated into soups and salads to add a delightful crunch and enhance the overall dining experience. Their versatility allows them to complement a variety of flavors, from rich broths to fresh greens. Here are some ways to use water crackers in soups and salads.
1. Crouton Substitute for Soups
In place of traditional croutons, water crackers can be used to add a crunchy texture to soups. Their delicate, crisp nature makes them a perfect choice for pairing with creamy soups, such as potato leek, tomato bisque, or butternut squash soup. Simply break the crackers into small pieces or leave them whole, depending on your preference, and sprinkle them over the soup just before serving. The crackers will absorb some of the soup’s liquid, softening slightly but still maintaining a satisfying crunch.
2. Topping for Brothy Soups
For lighter, brothy soups, like chicken noodle or vegetable soup, water crackers can be crumbled and used as a topping to add a bit of crunch without overpowering the flavors. When the crackers are sprinkled over the soup right before eating, they offer a contrast to the warmth and brothiness of the soup, giving each spoonful a variety of textures. You can also serve the crackers on the side, allowing each person to add their desired amount to their bowl.
3. Incorporating Water Crackers into Salad Toppings
Water crackers can be used as a topping for salads, adding a crunchy element that complements the freshness of vegetables and the richness of dressings. Crumbled water crackers can be sprinkled over salads in place of croutons or nuts. They work especially well in salads that include softer ingredients, such as leafy greens, cucumbers, and tomatoes, providing a satisfying crunch. To make the most of them, you can lightly toast or bake the crackers before crumbling them, enhancing their flavor and adding an extra level of crispness.
4. Making Salad Crust or Topping
For a more unique twist, water crackers can be crushed into fine crumbs and used as a topping for baked salads or casseroles. This works particularly well in baked salads where you want a golden, crispy topping but prefer something lighter than breadcrumbs. The crackers provide a delicate crunch without overpowering the other ingredients. Simply crush the crackers, mix with a little melted butter or olive oil, and sprinkle over the top of your salad or casserole before baking.
5. Adding Texture to Caesar or Green Salads
Water crackers can be incorporated into classic salads like Caesar or green salads for added texture. For Caesar salad, crumbled water crackers can stand in for traditional croutons, offering a lighter, less dense crunch. The mild flavor of the crackers pairs beautifully with the bold, creamy Caesar dressing, allowing the other ingredients like romaine lettuce, parmesan cheese, and bacon bits to shine.
Conclusion
Water crackers are an easy and creative addition to both soups and salads. Whether used as a substitute for croutons, a crunchy topping, or a base for spreads, they bring a light, crisp texture that complements a variety of flavors. Their mild taste ensures they pair well with a wide range of ingredients, from the richness of creamy soups to the freshness of salad greens. With a bit of imagination, water crackers can be transformed from a simple snack to a versatile element in your soups and salads, enhancing both texture and flavor with minimal effort.

Now that the brunt of summer is upon us, nothing holds more meal appeal than a refreshingly cool, crunchy, raw salad. Not only are salads chockful of important nutrients, but they also help hydrate us thanks to their water and electrolyte content. In fact, official heat safety guidelines encourage the consumption of more fruit and vegetables during temps like this. So, if your arm is getting a little sore from lugging around that oversized reusable water bottle, try introducing these iconic summer salads made with fresh farmers market produce to your dining repertoire.
Caesar Salad The Caesar salad just celebrated its centennial birthday! This popular salad is believed to have been created by Italian immigrant restaurateur Caesar Cardini (1896–1956) on July 4, 1924, at his restaurant, Caesar's Place, in Tijuana, Mexico. Cardini moved his restaurant from San Diego to Tijuana to attract American customers seeking to circumvent the restrictions of Prohibition.
Over a busy Fourth of July weekend, Cardini's kitchen ran short of ingredients, and he had to make do with what was left. So, he improvised by creating a salad with romaine lettuce, croutons, raw egg, olive oil, Parmesan cheese, and Worcestershire sauce that the chef tossed tableside for dramatic flair. The salad was an instant hit and went on to become a sensation across the United States.
A bedrock of any classic Caesar salad recipe, romaine lettuce clocks in at 94–95% water, making it a great way to stay hydrated. In fact, a single head of romaine lettuce can contain around 20 ounces of water.
Salade Nicoise Gordon Ramsay declared that the Nicoise salad to be “the finest summer salad of all" while Delia Smith called it "one of the best combinations of salad ingredients ever invented". Hailing from the French Riviera city of Nice, the first known iteration of this Mediterranean delicacy was popularized in the 19th century and featured tomatoes, anchovies, and olive oil. Over time, the salad evolved into a catchall dish made with whatever was seasonally available from gardens and pantries.
Classic Nicoise Salad Recipe
Vinaigrette
⅓ cup lemon juice or red wine vinegar
¾ cup extra virgin olive oil
3 tablespoons Migliorelli Farm finely chopped shallot
2 tablespoons 4E Green Farm finely chopped fresh basil
1 tablespoon 4E Green Farm finely chopped fresh thyme
2 teaspoons 4E Green Farm finely chopped fresh oregano or tarragon
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Salad
2 (8-ounce) grilled P & S Seafood tuna steaks
6 Yellow Bell Farm hardboiled eggs, peeled and quartered lengthwise
1 ¼ pounds Migliorelli Farm small red potatoes or fingerling potatoes
2 medium heads 4E Green Farm Boston or butter lettuce, torn into bite-sized pieces
3 small ripe Jersey Farm Produce tomatoes, cored and cut into wedges
1 small Migliorelli Farm red onion, thinly sliced
8 ounces Jersey Farm Produce green beans, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
 cup Pickle Licious Kalamata olives
2 tablespoons Pickle Licious capers, rinsed and/or several anchovies, optional
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
Bon appetit!
Greek Salad The Greek salad, also known as horiatiki (village salad) or therini (summer salad), has roots in ancient Greece, where its basic components of cucumbers, onions and olives were staples in the diet. The modern version, which includes tomatoes and feta cheese, is thought to have originated in Athens during the country’s tourism boom of the 1960s and 70s. During that period, business-savvy taverna owners sidestepped the government’s fixed prices on ‘simple salads’ by slapping a block of feta on top, allowing them to charge whatever they wanted.
Given its simple preparation and seasonally accessible ingredients, the traditional Greek salad has since become a widespread and familiar summertime staple both at home and abroad. Not only are they nutrient-dense, cucumbers also contain 96% water – which is the highest water content of any food!
Whatever kinds of salads you decide to indulge in during this extended high heat, you simply can’t go wrong with copious amounts of the farmers market fruit and veg that abound right now. While we may be wilting under the searing July sun, an array of seasonal produce is ripe and ready to be plucked from the farmstalls and toted to your kitchen for chopping, slicing, dicing and tossing into the dinner salad of your summertime dreams.
