Gate to the Shogun's Shrine

Once upon a time, only the rich were allowed to enter here. Only daimyo (regional lords) who controlled a certain amount of people were allowed to climb those steps and enter.

A pretty exclusive place.

Reason why was that Ieyasu himself, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate, was taken here when he was born so the temple was considered sacred.

Nowadays anyone can enter. It is considered a lucky place for pregnant women to come and pray, perhaps hoping their baby will also one day conquer Japan as Ieyasu once did.

Rokusho shrine, Õiso, Kanagawa prefecture. 

Framed digital watercolour. Using the Mac and iPad I can present prints/photos/watercolours to clients without having to carry around heavy canvases and frames.

This has made my work a lot easier and I find that clients appreciate the ability to view my works on a screen and swipe between them without having to heave large prints around and place them aside each time. It also allows me to swap mattes and frames instantly on screen - a real time saver which means I no longer have to carry pamphlets of frames and samples around.
