“The Mauldor”

The Mauldor, sometimes referred to as Maulers or Mole Dwarves are a civilization of Dwarves with a strict code of honor and martial pride. They see themselves as the guardians of the Earth - especially the rocks, trees and lakes of their lush realms. They are renowned for their codes of honor in war. In particular they are well known for treating their prisoners of war with extremely highly respect and dignity - something that has made even sinister factions of Scornwald respect in turn to their people during times of great conflict. However, they are a people of grim determination and steadfastness. They will stubbornly see their vows until the end, often making dead pacts when given orders by their High-Kings and Queens. They are also feared for their extremely brutal and methodical style of war that has infamously become known as the “Restless Advance”. The Mauldor will never take a step back from the enemy, always advancing at a steady pace in elite cadres armed with short swords, maces and extremely thick Rockthorn Plate armor. The aftermath of such engagements is seen as a horrible sight - often literally grinding the enemy into paste… thus the nickname “Maulers” has become popular for them in Scornwald…

Rockthorn is a very sweet molly with a very relaxed disposition, she tries her hardest to be a good cat and clanmate, and is very much in love with her family. Most think of her as a very ‘simple’ cat, but simple doesn’t mean stupid. 

She’s a family cat through and through, while she may have lost her immediate family in the beginning, she now adores her mate Saltfreckle and their kits, Wrenkit and Pearkit. She refuses to see that there may be anything wrong with her mate, or their perfect life.

Aphelion

Deep down, beside a lake burning cold,

the demon stretches their papyrus flesh

beneath a twist of wood--the spirit

of the empty-handed fig tree, spurned by Christ.

Tree and demon hold hands as blow flies dance

in mirror-cool air. Centipedes, oleander-sweet

~

curled around fingers and bark. The demon strokes

the bark, chilled and smoothed by the screams

of the damned. By their own touch over millennia.

The only tree to ever be marked a sinner,

a bit of sovereign green. Hell is rockthorn

and frostbite lullaby in crystal night.

Even this far from the sun, the demon longed

some sweet shadow--some nightwish canopy--

to shelter their rimfrost-shattered soul.

Saltfreckle, warrior of Shadedclan

A secondary antagonist to the story! Saltfreckle is a charming man, but lacks the warmth that cats like Sparrowbreath have, he is incredibly loyal to the main antagonist, and will die for his cause. He’s clever and witty, making him a dangerous foe but a pleasant conversationalist. 

Saltfreckle is mates with the queen, Rockthorn and together they have two daughters, Wrenkit and Pearkit, he was born near the end of the war and holds a great hatred for Fruitclan because of one of their warriors taking the lives of his mothers.
