If they ever make a series based on TCTD I'd love to have certain voice actors for the main trio, like, to be the one in charge of choosing them... Especially for the Italian dub, some voices would be just *chef's kiss*
Greg has Massimiliano Manfredi's voice in my mind, not only because he dubbed Ewan McGregor in some movies (Big Fish and Moulin Rouge my beloveds), but also because of the youthful energy his voice exudes.
Since the original HPL, contrary to everything I thought, actually had a pretty high-pitched voice, I ultimately ended up switching his hypothetical voice actor from Roberto Chevalier to Nanni Baldini. He dubbed Zachary Levi in Chuck and a TON of other roles I watched so his voice is very dear to me, and it also has such a mild quality to it, I think it would suit HPL-the-character just fine.
Dalo was a bit tricky, since the voice she has in my head is actually pretty similar to a japanese seiyuu I love, Yui Ishikawa (aka Mikasa Ackerman/Violet Evergarden). Thinking about it though, I think a VA good for her would probably be Loretta Di Pisa - her role as Elizabeth in Bioshock Infinite changed me as a person.

VIDEO: Italian voice actor of Tom Cruise in the films "Top Gun" fulfills dream of flying in a jet
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 06/14/2022 - 12:00 PM in Fun, Military
For the long-awaited sequel to "Top Gun, Maverick", the Swiss private fighter jet company MiGFlug took Italian voice actor Roberto Chevalier to the flight of his life, excitingly realizing a dream of more than 30 years.
Roberto is the Italian voice of Tom Cruise and not only lent his voice to Maverick 30 years ago, but also for his return to the screens in Italy.
Tumblr media
Unlike the actor, a stuntman usually does not participate in the action on a set... and in the case of Roberto - in a jet. But how can your voice take on the role of a fighter pilot without ever having experienced the real thing? This was solved with a flight that was released on YouTube.
youtube
"We made a video with the Italian voice of Tom Cruise, or Roberto Chevalier. He flew in one of our jets to "prepare" for his role in Top Gun," said Philipp Schaer, one of the founders of the MiGFlug company.
As MiGFlug's raison d'être is to fulfill people's dream of flying a jet, Roberto received a seat aboard an L-39 in the colors of MiGFlug's Baltic Bees team. See how an acting method, where an actor inhabits the role of his character to encourage sincere performances...
Roberto took off for a stunning 45-minute jet flight in the sensational setting of the Swiss Alps. He performed loopings, rolls and an overflight around the Matterhorn.

Roberto's first flight aboard a jet resulted in a documentary short film. The film is carried by his voice and speaks of a dream of finally reaching the skies. Ironically, this time it was his voice that remained firm, because the whole experience left the actor speechless while he was on the air.
MiGFlug is a Swiss-based company specializing in fighter flights, founded by aviation enthusiasts in 2004. MiGFlug allows its customers to overcome the dream barrier from 14 different locations - including the USA, Germany and the Czech Republic. MiGFlug has never had an incident during thousands of flights.

"Top Gun: Maverick", the sequel to the 1986 classic puts Pete "Maverick" Mitchell back in the cockpit to train a new group of young aviators. Facing an uncertain future and confronting the ghosts of his past, Maverick is dragged into a confrontation with his own deepest fears, culminating in a mission that requires the final sacrifice of those who will be chosen to fly.

“MIRROR ON THE WALL,  TELL ME ALL THE WAYS TO STAY AWAY.”
while rocky  &  i have no intention to keep clark  &  bruce away from each other just for the sake of “angst” on our blogs,  there’s a natural element of separation  &  guilt in their relationship.  superbat prevails in any universe,  romantic or otherwise,  &  so does their tumultuous relationship.  sometimes they are at odds with each other over a single misunderstanding,  sometimes bruce denounces their partnership in a fit of anger,  sometimes clark has to act as bruce’s antagonist  &  vice versa.  the conflict always brings great distress in the both of them.  so much so that those around them will always notice  &  comment on it.  this specific anguish they carry is for the sole reason that they are not side-by-side,  that they are in some sort of vicious disaccord.  this is what the composition of art above is supposed to convey.
despite their issues,  they still clearly love each other.  they’ve carried each other’s lifeless bodies,  they’ve watched the other’s children grow up.  detective comics,  unlike marvel comics,  has two flagship characters;  it’s clear that the two men cannot be separated from each other in any way without compromising a large part of their character.  from the very beginning of their world  &  ours,  it’s always been them.  just like the night chases the day  &  the day chases the night,  where you find superman,  batman is surely not far;  much like how @crimenight is never far from @superel.  ♡

Watched the 1981 RAI adaptation of "the silver key" and...
It has an extremely slow pacing. It opens with an introduction in which a discount version of Leeman Kessler impersonates Lovecraft. Basically he fell asleep in 1928, waking up only several years later and then deciding to introduce himself by recounting the exact same words one can find in one of his self portraits. ("I was born in 1890. When I was two I already knew the alphabet, I could read very well by the time I was four but I still messed up long words; I write, and my mother was the only one who believed in my abilities as an artist" etc, etc) Y'know, the thing one would usually do: "hi my name is hpl and I don't like talking about myself but I'll proceed to waste five whole minutes of your life by talking incredibly slowly about my childhood and my ideologies". For God's sake, the actor playing him, who also plays Randolph, is not even italian and believe me when I tell you that if there's something, anything that makes my nerves go [redacted] is hearing someone speak my language in an uncannily broken way, but mostly without any hint of emotion. Side note: I appreciate immensely when people go out of their way to learn Italian, it makes me so happy like "oh yesss!! i know it's difficult but I also know you can do it!! Thank you for the efforts you're putting in it, I'm proud of u!!!" When there's a foreign actor acting in an italian production, usually, they get a voice actor to dub the scenes they're in. It sadly didn't happen in this case. Another side note: for some reason I often imagine Hpl with a tone of voice similar to that of Roberto Chevalier, who dubbed Tom Cruise in the majority of his movies, and also David Bowie. Don't ask why.
Another big problem is the script. The movie is basically an audiobook: discount-Hpl narrates with the emotion and expression of an ancient broken coffee grinder, while the scenes play out almost silently. Few characters talk, and when they do it's often extremely forced, like the scriptwriters basically did copy and paste with some quotes of the original story. Some scenes are set in Rome, which is always good to see. In one, Carter walks along the Tiber river. (oh yeah baby, Tiber is the new Miskatonic!) Some shots are actually pretty nice, some are even memeable. Might make gifs out of 'em later. Anyway I'm still at half of the movie, I hope I'll find some actually redeeming qualities about this.
Edit: I finished it, and no. It has no redeeming qualities. Except old Benjamin, his actor is the only one who expressed something through acting. Also Randolph meets himself when he was a child??? That wasn't in the original as far as I remember. And when he decides to go to the cave with the key to "go back", small Randolph says "don't forget the scroll, or else you'll transform! And then coming back will be difficult." And, the transformation part - isn't that what happens in "Through the gates of the silver key"? I read it a long time ago so I may be mistaken tho
In short, my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined. I had hoped with all my soul it would at least be decent... I guess I'll go and listen to some music, I need to distract myself and forget the awful acting.
