Í þessu bloggi veltum við því fyrir okkur hvers vegna malbik skemmist, og þá helst  sprungur, sem eru algengasta vandamálið. Mismunandi og algengustu tegundir sprungna í malbiki
Hér verður fjallað um  nokkrar af algengustu tegundum malbikssprungna, hvers vegna þr myndast og hvernig er hægt að bregðast við og  gera við þær: 
Krókódíla “Alligator” sprungur 
Algengasta tegund malbikssprungna eru svokallaðar krókódíla sprungur. Þær samanstanda af miklum fjölda lítilla sprungna sem líta út eins og húð krókódíls. Alligator sprungur gætu bent til galla í hönnun eða lagningu malbiksyfirborðs sem þó þarf alls ekki að vera því einnig getur  lélegt frárennsli ásamt hitasveiflum eða langvarandi of mikið álag orðið til þess að slíkar sprungur myndast.
Í Þeim tilfellum sem þar sem þessi útgáfa af sprungum eru afleiðing vegna galla frá því að malbikið var lagt  í hverju lagi malbiksins, þurfa viðgerðir af þessum toga að vera vandaðar og vel úr garði gerðar. Viðgerðirnar mun styrkja og endurheimta heilleika yfirborðsins og koma í veg fyrir sprungur í framtíðinni á því tiltekna svæði. 
Brúna sprungur 
Brúna sprungur liggja eftir endilöngu og fara 30 til 60 cm inná yfirborð slitlagsins. Algengar orsakir brúna sprungna eru skortur á stuðningi undir og við malbiksbrúnina, ónægur vatnshalli, mikil umferð. Nálæg tré og runnar geta einnig valdið þesskonar sprungum. 
Í sumum tilfellum er hægt að  koma  í veg fyrir þessar sprungur með því að hreinsa og fjarlægja allar plöntur við brún slitlagsins. Bættu einnig frárennslið sem kann  að ófullnægjandi. Malbiksviðgerðir  eða endur lögn svæðisins þarf til að leysa öll stuðningsvandamál og koma í veg fyrir frekara tjón. 
Þver sprungur 
Sprungur sem liggja hornrétt á miðlínur slitlagssins eru kallaðar þversprungur. Þær stafa af samdrætti malbikslaga, miklum hitabreytingum og lélegri byggingu. 
Hægt er að bræða yfirborð malbiksins  bæta við nýju efni og valta til að koma í veg fyrir vatn komist niður í gegnum malbikið og í  undirlagið. Fyrir verri sprungur þarf að fjarlægja sprungna slitlagið eða skipta um það með yfirlögn. 
Línulegar sprungur 
Línulegar sprungur eru einnig þekktar sem lengdarsprungur. Þetta eru langar lóðréttar sprungur sem liggja samsíða miðlínu slitlagsins. Línulegar sprungur orsakast oftast af þreytu í slitlagi en geta einnig tengst rýrnun malbiks, sliti og veikum punktum í slitlagsskilum. 
 Lokun sprungnanna kemur í veg fyrir að bleyta komist inn í undirlagið og valdi frekari vandamálum, tjóni  og  auknum kostnaði. Hins vegar, ef sprungurnar eru miklar, þarf að fjarlægja sprungna yfirborðið og endurnýja.
Blokk sprungur 
Blokksprungur líta út eins og stórir samtengdir ferhyrningar. Blokksprungur stafar almennt af rýrnun malbiks en þær eiga það  til að þenjast út og dragast saman við hitasveiflur. Mikið álag og umferð veldur ekki svona sprungu. 
Mikilvægt er að koma í veg fyrir þesskonar sprungumyndun sem fyrst  vegna þess að hægt er að þétta litlar sprungur. Þegar sprungurnar eru orðnar maikla þarftu að fjarlægja sprungna slitlagið og skipta um það með nýlögn eða viðgerð. 
Önnur vandamál sem kunna að koma upp í malbiki 
Auk sprungna í malbiki eru önnur vandamál einnig þekkt.
 1. Malbiks holur 
Því miður, þekkjum flest okkar malbiksholur. Hvað er það sem veldur þeim? Holur eru afleiðing langvarandi vatnsleka á  sprungnu yfirborði malbiksins. Þegar sprungur og minni skemmdir eru ekki meðhöndlaðar  byrjar vatn að eyða malbiksyfirborðinu niður að undirlaginu. 
Þegar sprungur í malbiki verða miklar mynda þær samtengdar sprungur og skipta malbikinu í litla kubba.  Þegar kubbarnir losna svo  t.d. þegar ökutæki keyra yfir þá. Gatið sem eftir verður þegar kubbarnir hafa losnað er þekkt sem hola. Hægt er að gera við þessar holur með malbiksviðgerð með geislahitun sem er samskeyta laus tækni við malbiksviðgerðir 
 2. Sig 
Lægðir sem  gárungarnir kalla fuglaböð eru mjög áberandi þegar þær fyllast af vatni eftir rigningu. Lægðir eru slitlagsfletir sem hafa aðeins lægri hæð en nærliggjandi slitlag. 
Flest sig  er hægt að laga með því að setja bót á yfirborðið en ef lægðin er mikil gæti þurft að fjarlægja malbikið bæta undirlagið  og skipta um það. 
3. Hjólför 
Hjólför eru sig eftir umferð bíla og vörubíla. Hjólför í malbiki stafa  oft á tíðum af ánægðrar þjöppunar  yfirborðslaga, ófullnægjandi þykkt slitlags,  langvarandi álags, vatn nær í gegnum malbikið og fleytir undirlaginu burt  og oft eru nagladekk nefnd í þessu samhengi. 
Niðurstaða
Malbik er sterkt efni en ekki eilíft. Rigning og regnvatn, sólskyn, umferð frost, leysingar og fleiri þættir  geta skemmti malbikið með tímanum.
