.. the reverence to our rivers .. the irreverence too of its pollution and the attempts of the many to prevent to clean to discipline .. all in deaf ears .. divinity portrays relevance in the river and the offerings that bring the divine , bestowed to the waters .. sacred yes .. polluted too ..
but divinity takes acre of it all .. no worries ..
yes there is worry .. and many attempts made to clean up still in progress ..
the reflections of the work in the rose petalled waters of the Jamuna  ..

in contemplation in the wait for the right light to appear ..
the reminisce of SHOLAY .. and that one shot of Jaya lighting the candles on the balcony of the house and Jai on the steps of the outhouse playing the mouthorgan .. took 3 years to take the shot .. the Sun was not right in the right time each time it was attempted ..
hundreds of factors that go into making that one moment for film .. and in a jiffy destructed and destroyed by comment or dislike or adverse review ..
the irony of life ..
an entire lifetime spent in trying to get it right .. and when over it passes by .. unnoticed uncared for ..

and correct it shall be ..

Nine leopards serving 'life imprisonment' in U'khand!
Tumblr media
Many would find it surprising that Uttarakhand has a transit and rehabilitation centre where nine Guldars (leopards) are kept in cages on charges of killing humans or entering into human settlement areas. The Chidiyapur Transit and Rehabilitation Centre built on Haridwar-Najibabad Highway houses nine leopards serving their "prison term". The imprisonment is such that the hope of release is negligible, and thus it becomes "life imprisonment". These "convicted" leopards include Ruby, Rocky, Dara, Munna, Jat, Mona, Gabbar and Joshi. A female leopard named Ruby, caught on charges of "human homicide" in 2015 when she was just six years old, is serving a sentence for the last seven years. These leopards are released into open space for a few hours in daylight and then imprisoned in cages. They are fed chicken, mutton and meat on six days of a week. While on Tuesday, all nine leopards have to observe a fast. Thirteen-year-old man-eater Rocky was caught in Tehri's Santala village in 2017. Similarly, Dara, aged 12, was caught from Kotdwar's Lalpani in 2017. Four-year-old Munna Guldar is locked here since birth due to separation from mother. On the other hand, 6-year-old Mona was taken to the centre after she had entered DPS School in Rishikesh in 2020. Similarly, 10-year-old Gabbar was caught from Haridwar Forest Division in 2020. An eight-year-old leopard was caught from Joshimath in 2020 has been named Joshi. Uttarakhand's Chief Wildlife Warden Sameer Sinha says that this is a rehabilitation centre for wildlife. "Here animals injured in different incidents are brought for treatment and they are again released in their natural habitat after treatment." However, in the case of leopard, Sinha says that since they become man-eaters, these lepards are imprisoned in cages here and then their release becomes impossible. Due to human touch and being in a cage for a long time, these leopards have become more dreaded under mental stress. Now it is not even possible to release them in the wild. On Tuesday's fast, the Chief Wildlife Warden says that the animals do not get prey daily in the forest, so they are kept on fast for one day. This also improves their health. Read the full article

Meditation 🧘 is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state. Scholars have found meditation difficult to define, as practices vary both between traditions and within them.
Meditation 🧘 may be used with the aim of reducing stress, anxiety, depression, and pain, and increasing peace, perception, self-concept, and well-being. Meditation is under research to define its possible health (psychological, neurological, and cardiovascular) and other effects.

Body Donations for Medical Research by DSS Followers
Tumblr media
Dera Sacha Sauda followers shattered age old beliefs, and patriarchal, systems, apart from psychological and social stigmas and myths in a single stroke. Here’s how.
After completing her worldly journey, after the death of his wife Jito Kaur Insan, Sewa Nand Singh Insan of Bireje village Himmatpura resident, donated her body for medical research on 15th March. As per the initiative started by Baba Ram Rahim Ji, ‘Daughter and son are equal’ her daughters and daughter-in-law, completed the last rites, and also lifted her body on their shoulders. Although, As per Hindu tradition, last rites are always completed by a son. But Baba Ram Rahim JI, sensing this as a crucial social issue, leading to many myths started this initiative. The primary one being “No Moksha” if you don’t have a son, to perform last rites and also increase in female foeticide and declining girls to boys ratio. This has been well accepted by his followers and they make sure this initiative is followed whenever needed. In fact, people in rural areas are open to such initiatives speaks volume of their open-mindedness and ready for change, provided it is initiated in the right spirit.
Before donating her body for medical research, a procession was carried out by Dera Sacha Sauda followers from the village. The idea is simple to motivate more and more people to come forward for this rather taboo idea in society. In fact, people are awakening to the idea of organ donation, although in very slowly and numbers can be counted on fingers, but the situation for body donation is all the worse. There are no bodies, for medical students, or if they come, after harvesting the organs, they do not suffice for the purpose. The followers of Dera Sacha Sauda participating in the procession made sure they carried informational placards, and slogans supporting the cause of humanity. In fact, medical colleges in and around Haryana, UP, Punjab, Delhi is quite relieved with DSS followers coming up in big numbers to donate bodies of their deceased family members as per their wishes.
Tumblr media
Passing through the streets of the village, the final journey of Jito Kaur Enam was flagged off by Dr. Pritpal Kaur Nem, Sarpanch of the village Pappu Joshi and Group Gram Panchayat, for the DMC Hospital, Ludhiana.
Village Sarpanch Pappu Joshi appreciated the efforts by Dera followers and their Master Baba Ram Rahim Ji for such forward initiatives which are taking the society to welcome every sect., minorities and helping to dissolve differences and lapses at every level.
A body of another Dera Follower, Amarjit Kaur Ensu (60 years old) of Tungwali village of Bhukhi Mandi, Birkhali block, was also donated for medical research a day prior to Jito Kaur enam’s body donation, to Miz Medical College Rishikesh (Haridwar) DAR).
Prior to leaving the dead body for medical research, a large number of people from the society and political circles joined the last journey of Amarjit Kaur. As part of her life’s journey too, she made a huge contribution in the works of humanity, and donated her body after death continuing the string of welfare of humanity. Such followers and their spirit for humanity is something that the society needs to replicate for true reforms, at every level, says Baba Ram Rahim Ji. In fact it is this motivation and mission that this Saint strives for.

Invocation of collective consciousness and public awareness is essential to save the rivers: Justice A.K Goel
New Delhi
06-06-2020
“To keep a nation and its people healthy we have to keep our rivers healthy. We have laws, orders, rules and regulations which ensure the protection and conservation of rivers of the nation but we lack in its proper implementation which can be achieved through the collective consciousness about the importance of rivers in human life” NGT Chairperson Hon’ble Justice A.K. Goel expressed the thought in the webinar organised by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi This webinar also chaired by him.
Emphasizing on the significance of rivers in for all forms of life, specially the human life and to pay a sincere homage to our lifeline rivers, the IGNCA had organised this webinar titled “Riverine Culture: Associating the Dissociated Communities to the River” on the occasion of World Environment Day, i.e. 5th June, 2020. Several national and international scholars and environmentalists attended this webinar with great zeal and interest.
Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, Member Secretary, IGNCA asserted in his address, “A river is not a mere physical entity or a natural resource but we have emotional connection with our rivers and worship them as Goddesses.” He further emphasised on making sincere attempts to revive this connection with the river and offer a genuine gratitude to them. He opined that the Panch-shaktiyan (five sources of knowledge and potentials) i.e. Vidhi (law), Dharma (religion) Shaurya (valour), Sewa (service), and Jnyana (knowledge) must work in collaboration to protect the rivers.
Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswati ji, President, Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh, shared his views in the webinar and appealed to the nation to protect the rivers of the nation and keep them clean. He said, “River transverses without discrimination, therefore everyone should take a vow to ensure its continuity and cleanliness.” He also emphasized on green activities to protect the nature and requested the NGT to ensure the implementation of laws and orders formulated to protect the nature.
Retd. Col. Sh. Manoj Keshwar, Founder of Atulya Ganga foundation, raised the concern over the developmental activities and rapid industrialization that have brought the rivers on a backslide. He emphasized on making the young minds aware regarding the protection of rivers and nature and to ensure the continuous flow of the rivers as givers of life in future.
Sh. Gopal Arya, Thinker and environmentalist, mentioned the importance of the World Environment Day and said that the protection and conservation of rivers cannot be achieved without public awareness and public participation and this should get converted in a major public movement for the welfare of environment at the later stage.
The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) is a premier research centre under the Ministry of Culture, GoI, which is actively engaged in research, documentation, publication and
dissemination of knowledge in the field of arts and culture. In a sincere attempt to express a humble homage to the rivers which provide us with life and nourishment, the centre has initiated a major project on Riverine Culture, under its Janapada Sampada Division, focusing on the civilization and the culture around a river, which worships the river as a mother and acknowledges her contributions through prayers, sacrifices, fairs, and festivals, thus establishing a deep emotional connection with the river. So far, under this, the project Glory of Rivers has covered six important rivers of the country viz,. Kaveri, Krishna, Gomati, Yamuna, Ganga and Vyas.
The webinar was conducted/moderated by Prof. Molly Kaushal, HoD of the Janapada Sampada Division of the IGNCA. It concluded with the vote of thanks given by Sh, Abhay Mishra from Janapada Sampada Division, IGNCA.
