(feeling silly and I saw the game and wanted to make it a little more horror and sorry if my writing is shit, I just got on break after busting my ass on final 😭, I'm sorry my bestie's, I promise more yandere stuff, this is kinda practice to getting me back in the writing game after so long) flash back and dream dialogue= this
The clock ticked on the wall, m/n’s shift was almost over and he wanted to go back to his apartment and sleep but he had to wait for the night shift worker to come and that’s one of the parts of m/n’s job but even though everyone’s nice to him, he didn’t like the dopplers…he didn’t like how they looked at him, even after the first time he met one, he looked back at the clock and sat back “maybe I can rest my eyes for a little…the door is closed anyways” m/n said to himself as he closed his eyes for a little.
M/n was a kid, in high school with his friends, the clock ticked “man I can’t wait for summer. My mom is taking me to a doppelgänger free resort over sea’s” amber said “how about you m/n? You going anywhere?” She smiled at him “naw, I think I’ll stay home, I don’t really go out a lot” he looked at the door and then the intercom went off “please all teachers, keep you students in class, we are in shelter in place” the intercom turned off “eh it’s probably noth-“ then m/n jumped as he felt a tap on his shoulder, m/n was startled awake as he looked back and saw the night guard was here for their shift. M/n quickly got up and apologized for accidentally staying so long, but non of that matters now, he can now just go back to his apartment after a long shift especially with so many doppelgangers this week, maybe he should check in some vacation time but no he can't, especially with the rise of Dopplers getting so rampant the past week.
M/n's mind wandered as he then accidentally bumped into someone "oh I'm sorry! I should have watched where I was going" he quickly apologized as the person he accidentally bumped turns "oh no worries, Im just waiting for the elevator, it's been on the Fritz lately and has been slower than usual." mia stone said as the sound of the elevator coming down came louder and louder "yeah, I've talked to the manager and they said it would get fixed but apparently a Doppler nearly got it disguised as the repair man" m/n said waiting with mia, the elevator gate opened as the two stepped in, m/n pushed the button for the third floor as she stepped back "I just hope that this Doppler pandemic goes down, I heard that some are getting more hostile" mia said as she looked at m/n. "More hostile? What happened?" M/n said scared of the answer as mia looked at the carpeted elevator floor "it was on the news, four cases, one got in a supermarket and attacked several people but the D.D.D where able to get there fast, then the next was two that forced its way in a apartment complex, the door man was killed and the Dopplers where well killed on sight but the rest of the residents where okay, the two other cases the Dopplers where able to escape, but no one was hurt luckily..." Mia said as m/n gave a sigh, rubbing his eyes as he had a tired look on his face "I just hope the D.D.D will resolve this soon" mia looked at m/n "Im sure it will, I'm sure this will blow over soon" mia said putting a hand on m/n's shoulder and gave him a smile and m/n relaxed "yeah, I hope it does" m/n wishes he could have the same optimism as mia but he knew what those things could do, what they would do.
The elevator came to a stop, "well I'll see you tomorrow, and if you need anything, you can come to my apartment, I'm sure my husband would be glad to help you" mia said as m/n smiled "thanks mia, I'll see you tomorrow" the two parted ways to go to their apartments. M/n came, putting his hat on the hanger and his shoes away "Francis, you home?" M/n called out to his significant other as he closed and locked the door, "I'm in the bathroom! I got some takeout, I have a shift early tomorrow so I have to go to bed soon" francis yelled from the bathroom as m/n went to the kitchen to just get a bite to eat, he didn't need to eat fast but he was just tired, he didn't know why but the sooner he sleeps then hopefully he'll feel better in the morning. After M/n was done eating, he cleaned up after himself and got ready for bed, he saw Francis was already in bed so m/n tried to be as quiet as he could to put his PJs on and get in bed without trying to disturb Francis. M/n got in bed and Francis snuggled up next to m/n, "sorry I got back so late" m/n yawned as he held Francis close to him, "no, it's okay, just get some sleep, I'll cook breakfast tomorrow if I can" Francis said as he fell asleep and m/n followed suit.
M/n raised his head from his desk, he's in the same classroom, "please all teachers, keep your students in class, we are in a shelter in place." The intercom did the same thing, but why this dream? What it a dream? It feels so familiar yet these people in class, where they all re- "eh it's probably nothing, probably a Doppler spotted near the school" Amber said as m/n's other friends nodded "well how about you tom? Any summer plans?" But before he could answer, the power went out and there where people screaming and running in the hallways, something then screeched "what is t-" the door busted open as a Doppler, but it looked human yet monstrous, it's mouth unhinged like a snakes, it's arms turned into some kind of pray mantis limbs as the rest of the legs like a centipede, easily crawling and its mindless bloodthirsty hunger made it run towards anything that made sounds and anything that ran from it, smashing into desks as students got up and ran, some being able to dodge it as it smashed into walls, smearing blood that dripped from his jaw and the insect like arms, everything was a blur, screams, people running, bumping into each other as m/n hid under the teacher's desk after it was thrown to the side. He saw the half eaten people on the ground, the window could be a easy way to get out but smashing It would attract it to him, even chasing him outside. It stalked the room, like it knew m/n was in there, waiting for him to make a run for it until it weaseled it's was in, through the barricaded classroom that m/n tried hard to make sturdy. He didn't wanna be eaten, he wanted his mom, he wanted to go home then it stopped near the desk, m/n froze, it knows hes here it wasn't dum- "it's okay kid, come out" it's distorted voice called out as it slowly lifted the desk, "it's safe now" "it's safe now" it's safe now" it kept repeating. "It's safe" it stared straight at m/n, it's human disguised arms holding the desk up as it drooled, it's drooled mixed with blood as it hit the floor. "your safe now" its jaw split open as it smiled at him.
M/n woke up in a cold sweat as screamed as sat up, Francis who was getting dressed rushed over to m/n "m/n! What happened! Are you alright!" M/n sat up as he panted, looking wildly at the room, then looking at Francis "Im okay, I'm...I'm okay, just that fucking dream again" m/n said as it rubbed his eyes "it just keeps coming back" Francis looked at m/n worried and sat on the bed with him "how about you take today off, you need a day off" Francis said and m/n was about to protest but was cut off "no, no you need it, please" m/n sighed and looked at Francis "I'll call them and tomorrow I'll stay home" Francis smiled "okay, but I mean it, I just think this Doppler stuff is getting to you." M/n sighed "yeah, just the news and all, it's probably getting me paranoid but I promise I'll take tomorrow off" the two shared a small kiss as m/n got ready for work and Francis left to go to his. Maybe it'll be good to use some of those sick days, won't hurt to take a small break.....right?

Roxanne, Sunnyvale's newest resident, meets Julian and Ricky after they return from jail. Troubled by her traumatic relationship with her ex, will she be able to open up in her newfound home?

CHAPTER ONE
Roxanne’s favorite part of living in Sunnyvale was the way that the sun beamed down onto her porch in the mornings. Her routine, newly developed since moving to Sunnyvale, had a sense of peace about it since moving away from the city. Instead of dragging herself out of bed, to then drag herself to her soul-sucking desk job, then back to her lackluster apartment, she felt energized to begin her day.
After rising from bed, she would get ready for her morning jog around the trailer park. When she lived with her ex, she hardly ever had the time to keep up with exercise. Instead, she would resort to not eating much throughout her day to save herself time. She had to be as productive as possible. Now that she had this fresh start, she could take more time for herself. It was something that she had to get used to at first, but once she did, she fully embraced it. It felt good to let go of the pressure and stress that she lived in for so long.
Roxie developed a rapport with some of her neighbors on her morning jogs. She met Lucy and Sarah, two best friends (who Roxie was surprised to find out were not in a relationship) who did hair out of their trailer sometimes. Lucy’s daughter, Trinity, lived with them. Trinity was a little hellion, stealing barbecues and throwing bottles. Luckily, when Roxie caught her trying to steal her barbecue, she wasn’t intimidated by the little kid’s attitude. Instead, she earned the child’s respect by talking with Lucy about the situation in a way that didn’t make her feel guilty. After that, the three of them became friends.
She also met Bubbles, a peculiar guy with the most alarming Coke-bottle glasses she’d ever seen. He lived out of the shed across the street from her trailer. Roxie took it upon herself to put some cat food out on her first night, and Bubbles noticed and came to her door. At first, he was a bit offended, assuming she thought that he didn’t feed his kitties sufficiently. He fed them good, he said, better than most kitties in the world. She believed him.
And of course, Roxie knew Jim Lahey and Randy, the Trailer Park Supervisor and Assistant Trailer Park Supervisor, respectively. Jim was always drunk, and Randy was always shirtless. They weren’t as nosy as her previous landlords, who would barrage her with emails about her hanging plants on the balcony, or the decorations she’d put on her door. Since she was the leaseholder, she was the one who was always being contacted for stupid shit, like her ex parking in the handicap spot or being late on rent because he couldn’t be bothered to save any money. Her ex never took responsibility for anything.
Across the street from her new place sat a white single-wide with brown trim. Two young guys, Corey and Trevor, lived there and completely trashed it. It was unfortunate seeing the state of disarray Julian’s home was in while he was away.
She had never met Julian, of course. Bubbles spoke about him and Ricky so often that Roxie felt like she might as well know them. Bubbles often told her about how excited he was for his friends to get out of jail.
That’s why Bubbles stopped her on her run this morning. As soon as she passed Julian’s trailer on her second lap around, Bubbles ran to her in a panic.
“Roxie! Please, I need your help. I don’t know how I’m going to get Corey and Trevor out of Julian’s place,” he exclaimed, taking a moment to whine stressfully, ���He’s going to be back any minute, and they just fucked his place up. They won’t listen to me!”
Out of breath and hunched over, Roxie panted through her words, “Bubbles, I’m sure Julian will be able to handle it. Corey and Trevor don’t seem too bright.”
Bubbles sighed, not feeling any better, “Yeah, well, they’re fuckin’ idiots, but they’re in there tearing the place up… Smoking, drinking, and playing video games all day and night. They don’t even care to clean up after themselves.”
“It’ll be okay, Bubbs, I promise.”
The rest of her morning went on as usual: Shower, change clothes, and brew coffee. She sat on the small porch of her trailer, basking in the sun. Roxie had on a gray tank top which now soaked up the water dripping from her hair, and shorts. While it was early spring, it surely got hot enough for her to wear summer clothes already.
Placing her coffee down, Roxie reached into her pocket and grabbed her plastic cigarette case, which held half a pack and a half-smoked joint. She was saving the weed for later, maybe if she hung out with Lucy and Sarah that evening. Roxie lit up a cigarette and let time stop for a moment as the morning sun warmed her face.
Just after, her trance was broken by the sound of a cab rolling up across the street. She watched as Bubbles ran to the vehicle in excitement. That must be Julian and Ricky, she thought.
The guy who exited the cab first wore a button-up houndstooth shirt with Adidas swishy pants. His hair was a dirty red, styled in a pompadour with impressive sideburns. His eyes were covered by small oval sunglasses. He was cute.
“Bubbs!” He shouted as he gave Bubbles a hug, “I fuckin’ missed ya, buddy.”
Bubbles whined and hugged his friend back, “Ricky! I missed you, too!” Roxie smiled to herself, happy that Bubbles wouldn’t be so lonely anymore.
As the two reunited, the other side of the cab opened. Roxie was greeted by the sight of a tall man with black hair, slicked back and shiny. His dark goatee framed his jaw, and as he turned to retrieve their bags from the trunk, his earring caught the light of the morning sun. His shoulders were broad, and a gold chain rested on his chest. In one hand, he held a drink, which never seemed to spill in spite of the movements he made. He was built, but not cut. He looked like the kind of guy that you wouldn’t want to fuck with.
Roxie watched as Julian propped both duffel bags onto one shoulder, and a small wave of fervor swept through her stomach. She took another drag, and stole glances at Julian as she eavesdropped from across the street.
“Bubbs, what the fuck happened to my trailer?” Julian’s voice was deep and steady despite his aggravated tone.
Bubbles stammered as he explained to Julian how he tried to kick Corey and Trevor out of his trailer, but that they wouldn’t listen. Julian shook his head and made his way into his home with Ricky following behind him. A commotion erupted from the trailer– a combination of shouting and objects falling over. Corey and Trevor really did trash the place. There was garbage and empty bottles where the flowerbeds used to be, and the porch was filled with junk. Roxie couldn’t imagine how disgusting the inside of the house was.
Bubbles looked around, a distressed look on his face. Roxie stood as they made eye contact from across the street, and mouthed:
“Everything okay?”
Bubbles whined again and threw his hands up in exasperation before heading over to her.
“I fucked up, Roxie. I tried so hard to get them to leave, but those dicks are so drunk and high all the time that they never listen!”
She snuffed her cig and patted Bubbles on the back, “You tried your best, Bubbles. It looks like your friends have it handled.”
As she spoke, Ricky and Julian were throwing all of Corey and Trevor’s shit out of the front door. Ricky pushed Corey out first, then Trevor. Their protests fell on deaf ears as Julian scolded them and told them to start cleaning his trailer immediately.
When the two made their way over to Bubbles, Roxie started feeling nervous. Nervous? Fuck no, she was probably just excited to meet her new neighbor…right? Right.
Julian approached and consoled Bubbles, making sure that his friend knew that it wasn’t his fault.
“It’s alright, Bubbles. I should have known those dicks were up to something fucked up.” Julian regarded Roxie, eyeing her up and down before greeting her, “Hey.”
“Hi,” she waved at him, “Roxie.”
“Jeez, Bubbs. You went ahead and got a girlfriend while we were gone, huh?” Ricky teased.
Bubbles groaned, “Ricky! She’s not my girlfriend. Just my friend.”
“Is that right?” responded Julian, the faintest inkling of intrigue in his voice, “Nice to meet you.”
Roxie smiled, “Likewise.”
They shared a brief moment of eye contact until Ricky shouted at Corey and Trevor to “pick up the fucking pace” because he “wanted to watch TV and smoke a joint” with Julian and Bubbles.
“Boys, let’s hurry the fuck up and get Corey and Trevor out of Julian’s! I want to have a tiny bit of a relaxing evening.”
“See you,” said Julian, “Let me know if you need anything.”
“Okay. Bye, Julian.”
As the boys returned to berating Corey and Trevor, Roxie found herself smiling. Was her face red? Oh God, it must have been weird of her to only say goodbye to Julian, right? Maybe she was being too obvious.
She grabbed the half-smoked cigarette from her ashtray and went back inside before she got too excited about meeting her new neighbor.

The holiday property market along Bulgaria's Black Sea coast is experiencing a shift away from its previous dominance by Russian buyers, now attracting a blend of younger Bulgarian professionals and retired Europeans. According to a comprehensive report by BTA, half of the buyers for seaside apartments are Bulgarians under 30, primarily from the IT sector, while the other half consists of retirees from Germany, France, Italy, and the Netherlands.
Demand is particularly strong for two-bedroom apartments within gated complexes, with average prices starting at 1,900 euros per square meter. Maintenance fees, which cover amenities like pools and gyms, no longer deter buyers, who typically spend around BGN 60-70 per month on these services. Ukrainian investors are also entering the market, focusing on new residential developments near the sea.
This snapshot of the summer holiday market in Bulgaria was detailed by Atanas Argirov and Stefka Kalcheva, members of the National Association "Real Estate" Management Board.
In Varna, residential property prices have surged by 60 percent over the past two years, prompting a shift in buyer interest towards vacation homes. Atanas Argirov notes that holiday property prices have also risen, albeit more slowly, by 25 percent during the same period, indicating a stable upward trajectory despite lagging behind residential real estate.
The preferred locations in Varna include areas around the city center like "Sts. Constantine and Helena" and its surrounding districts. These locales, increasingly structured as residential hubs, appeal due to proximity to amenities such as large supermarkets and easy access to Varna and Vinitsa districts. The trend shows an almost equal number of permanent residents and vacation property owners in these areas.
In Golden Sands, demand for vacation properties is also on the rise, particularly within closed aparthotel complexes used mainly as second homes rented out during the summer season. Despite limited year-round inhabitation, interest remains high, with several new residential projects underway in "Sts. Constantine and Helena" and ongoing development in the Golden Sands area.
Buyers in Varna predominantly favor two-bedroom apartments, which account for about 40 percent of all real estate transactions in the city. Larger units with more than three rooms are preferred by IT professionals, who utilize them not just as residences but also as workspaces, reflecting a growing trend towards multifunctional living spaces. Security and amenities in gated communities attract over 80 percent of buyers, with rising maintenance fees posing minimal deterrent.
Approximately 60 percent of new buyers in Varna and its surrounding resorts are aged between 25 and 35, many of whom work in the IT sector. Bulgarians make up the majority of purchasers, while retirees from Western Europe constitute a smaller yet significant demographic, alongside buyers from Ukraine and Israel. The departure of Russian buyers has led to a smaller foreign presence in Bulgaria's real estate market, with Ukrainian investors beginning to play a more prominent role, particularly in high-end developments near Alen Mak and Manastirski Rid.
In the Burgas region, interest in vacation properties is steadily growing, with Bulgarian citizens accounting for 50 percent of transactions. The remainder includes retirees from Germany and a diverse mix of buyers from Poland, the Czech Republic, Israel, and Russian-speaking countries. This influx has partially offset the decline in Russian buyers, who face logistical challenges in utilizing their Bulgarian properties due to visa and transport restrictions.
Property prices in Burgas have seen a modest increase of approximately 5 to 6 percent since the beginning of the year, aligning with inflation rates. Despite a balanced market without significant peaks, industry experts predict a slight rise of 2-3 percent in housing prices by year-end, totaling an increase of 4-8 percent for 2024.
Sozopol, Nessebar, Sunny Beach, and Primorsko remain favored destinations for vacation property investments, with a growing interest from Ukrainian buyers in Pomorie. The profile of buyers in Burgas skews towards younger Bulgarians aged 35-45 seeking second homes, while foreign buyers, particularly from Poland, are also prevalent. Financing through mortgage loans is common, with expatriate Bulgarians and EU residents contributing to a significant portion of purchases.
In both Varna and Burgas, two-bedroom apartments are the preferred property type among buyers, offering flexibility for seasonal use. The appeal of closed complexes lies in their security and maintained amenities, with additional fees, including maintenance costs, posing minimal concern for new buyers. Prices are influenced by proximity to the sea, with properties closer to the beach commanding higher values. However, affordability remains a consideration, with lower-priced options reflecting their distance from coastal areas and historical town centers.

PERSONALITY
Brendan has always been known as somewhat of a loner. He learned from a young age to expect disappointment, thanks to his unstable family dynamic. He resorts to drug and alcohol use to ease the pain and cope with life. He's not always the most pleasant person to be around, thanks to his sharp tongue and putting his walls up as a defense mechanism. Though if you take the time to understand him and see his walls drop down, you'll see that he's actually just a softie who just wants to be loved.

Mark Nichols had thought he met the love of his life with his first wife. Shortly after their marriage they went on to have two sons within a few years apart of one another. He worked as a truck driver, traveling across the entirety of the west coast for stops and deliveries. His job entailed long stretches of time being spent away from home, which put a strain on his marriage and family. Only a few years into their marriage, his wife had served him with divorce papers and custody of the boys. Mark was devastated and found comfort within whiskey. It was the only thing that seemed to numb the pain of the emptiness in his life. That was, until Claudia entered his life a few months later. She forced him to clean up his act and get sober. By December of 1995, the couple was married and gave birth to their son, Brendan Alexander Nichols on Valentine's Day of 1997.
By winter of 1997, the honeymoon phase of their marriage was already coming to a close. The couple started to slip into unhappiness and Mark reached for the bottle of Jack Daniels to numb the pain. He knew Claudia had been cheating on him with another man while he was away on the road. Part of Mark couldn't even blame her, as he knew he hadn't been the most present husband throughout their relationship. By the beginning of 1998, the couple had taken the pathway to divorce and Claudia moved out and moved on with the other man she had been seeing. Brendan was left with his father, growing up in a double wide trailer in a small trailer park on the edge of Mountainside. Within the next few years, Brendan's mother had gotten married and had two children, one boy and the youngest a girl, with the man she had left Mark for.
Brendan grew up visiting his mother and his younger half-siblings, but he always felt out of place and like he didn't belong. Part of him resented his mother for leaving him behind and starting a new family of her own. Leaving him behind with his alcoholic father who was absent half the time thanks to his job. It left him feeling abandoned and like he had never been good enough for anyone or anything his entire life. He strolled through life feeling like a loner with no real place he belonged.
This attitude stuck with him all throughout middle school and high school. While he had a few close friends he hung out with and started casually dating a few girls here and there. He never did much to excel in school, instead always scooting by with the average C's and occasional D's. For the most part, Brendan succeeded in keeping his head low and sticking to himself. However there were a few bullies around school who picked on him. They referred to him as "trailer trash" and occasionally even called him "trailer boy". He tried to ignore it at first, hoping they would tire themselves out and go away. It wasn't until one day at lunch when they pushed him just a little too far. Brendan swung in their direction, which resulted in an immediate trip to the principal's office, one week's suspension, and another two weeks of detention. It wasn't his proudest moment, but it gained him the reputation of somewhat of a "bad boy" and was the key to those bullies leaving him alone.
By the time college rolled around, Brendan had applied to a community college in Portland, Oregon. He was desperate for an escape from Fairford and a fresh start. He picked up a part-time job as a server at a local restaurant and saved up enough to afford a small apartment with a roommate. He and his roommate began hosting parties at their apartment and inviting their classmates or anyone else the word of mouth got to. This was the start of Brendan's own alcohol addiction. It wasn't a problem until he started staying up all night drinking, only to be completely wasted and unable to attend his classes by the time they rolled around. He did his best to get his grades up, but he only passed by the skin of his teeth.
Halfway into his sophomore year, Brendan met a girl in one of his classes and instantly became smitten. He had never really been in a serious relationship, as the previous ones had all been casual and fizzled out after a few months time. He wasn't sure if he could even commit to an actual relationship, given his trust issues and fear of abandonment. All his life, he had seen and heard about nothing but rocky relationships on both his mother and father's side. Why should he put his heart out on the line just to have someone throw it back at him as they walked out the door. Any time a girl would catch feelings or want more than a casual date or a hook-up, Brendan would completely ghost and move onto something less serious. But when it came to this girl, she had Brendan wondering if he was even capable of being in a committed relationship. The walls he always built up when it came to everyone else, started to fall around him the more he got to know her. Everything between them had been going smoothly for a few months. But when it came time to define the relationship and put a label on what they were, Brendan did what he does best...he screwed up.
He found himself at one of the popular bars in the area, got completely wasted, and went home with another woman. He woke up the next morning with angry text messages waiting for him from the girl. Apparently one of her friends was at the same bar and saw him leave with this other woman. Brendan knew she was better off without him in the long run. She deserved to find actual happiness and someone who could give her all the things he never could. Even if there was a small sting of pain that came with the lingering thoughts of what could have been, Brendan numbed it with the familiar burn of alcohol.
By his junior year, his dependance on alcohol worsened. His grades began to slip further and he began failing the majority of his classes. He was left with no choice but to drop out. When his mother found out, she begged him to move back home to Fairford and set him up in a special treatment center.
