Ah yes, it’s that special day where once again I find myself wondering what the ever-living fuck Joe Finigan was thinking.
This is the story of how I utterly failed to have the appropriate emotional reaction to 9/11. Mind the trigger tags. I’d add more but I ran out. This story is insensitive by nature and I probably shouldn’t share it, but it’s also such a weird slice of American life that I kinda feel like I gotta.
So, context.
Columbine happened in 1999, when I was in 5th grade. Schools across the US started to be like, “hm, maybe it’s time to actually address this issue somehow.” Our elementary school brought in some random police officers to talk about it. Police who, if anything, had been trained in how to make kids more traumatized.
We didn’t have active shooter drills back then. They were just like, “Hey kids, I want you to imagine this fucked up scenario that I am vividly describing. What would you do if it happened to you? Do you have a Plan? Will you be able to stick to your Plan even while your classmates are screaming? You should think about it hard, in graphic detail, so that when the time comes you won’t hesitate to make Tough Choices. Breaking your leg because you jumped out a window is still better than being dead! Listen to this story of a girl who hid under a desk, but then the gunman found her and she couldn’t escape because there was no room to maneuver and so she was trapped and the gunman shot her while she bravely said her prayers, we have a weird creepy obsession with painting the victims as modern Christian martyrs and we totally invented the entire story but you won’t realize that for at least a decade. And remember: don’t run in a straight line, run in zigzags so that you’re harder to shoot.”
So yeah, that was 1999, we were 11 years old, and we took that shit very much to heart.
Two years later, it’s 2001. There have been 15 new US school shootings in that time. My sister and I are in middle school, it’s early in the school year but we’ve started to get into a normal rhythm,
Suddenly there is a totally unexpected blare on the intercom. It’s Principal Joe Finigan, he is about to make the most significant announcement of his career, and for some fucking reason he decides that THIS is the best thing to say:
“There has been a, uh, a terrible tragedy. Everyone should go home now. Uh, ask your parents what happened. As far as we know, we are not a target at this time.” Click.
We don’t have any other sources of information. The teachers aren’t telling us what’s going on, but some are crying.
Obviously there must have been a school shooting in town. But what the hell did he mean by “as far as we know, we are not a target at this time”? That makes it sound like the gunman is still at large. Is this a sniper situation? Is it even safe to walk home? Are we going to have to line up in the office and take turns using the school telephone to call our parents?
We cautiously head outside, and there’s a line of parents already out there waiting in their cars to pick their kids up. Oh shit, it must be bad. Was it the kindergarten? Or the Catholic prep school?
Our mom is upset. She says she doesn’t want to talk about it while driving. She’ll show us the news on the TV when we get home.
We get home and steel ourselves to face the news, fully expecting to see the names of close friends and neighbors listed among the dead.
So please imagine how appalled our dear mother is when we say, “Wait a minute- all this fuss is because some buildings are on fire in a completely different state?!”
“As far as we know, we are not a target at this time.”
Dear Joe Finigan. What the fuck made you say that. Please tell me, did you genuinely imagine terrorists being like
“At this time, our target is the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. But next, we shall target a mediocre school in a bland suburban town that nobody has ever heard of! Ohoho! Ah hah ha ha!”
Anyway, there’s something to be said about how after both events, the US response was, “You see, this is why we need more guns. We tooootally promise they’ll only be used to hurt Bad Guys! After all, we’re the Good Guys! USA! USA!”

🌸 If you get this, answer with 3 random facts about yourself and send it to the last 7 blogs in your notifications, anonymously or not! Let's get to know the person behind the blog. 🌸
I honeslty have no idea what to say about myself. I truly have no big, interesting facts worth noting, but I'll think about some that could be remotely close.
When I was small, my mother and teacher discovered I was really good at patterns, despite not knowing what they were. I just went to take an exam at my kindergarten class, arrived to class late, was asked to mark the patterns and did it so fast, I finished before my classmates who had already been taking the test before me, with time to spare. That carried all throughout my life even though I did not dedicated myself to better that ability, so to speak. It is what has helped me go through life, basically -- a good example would be with exams, details I should remember and all that, I remember mostly by patterns than by anything else. My brain is really good at noticing leitmotifs in songs and other familiar rhythms because of it.
My native language is Latin Spanish (I've rambled enough about how I played XVI in that language and thoroughly enjoyed it/prefer it,) I learned English all throughout my life, ever since I was small. My mother encouraged us to learn both words in Spanish and English, to look for their meanings in the dictionary if we were lost, to watch shows and read in both English and Spanish and I am truly grateful for that now. I still have much to learn of both languages, for sure, but I am glad I've reached a point in which I feel comfortable talking to others in any of the two.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Biotechnology. Even though my dream is to become an author, a lot of events that occurred during my time at university made me end up choosing to finish the career I had much more credits filled for at one point, which was Biology. I took Biotechnology because I was deeply interested in Immunology and, honestly, I still am. I don't regret my decision, I just wish I had the confidence and experience to be accepted in a job related to it.

Sunday Salon / Sunday Post – A Week in the Life of Dollycas – Weekly Rewind – New Arrivals
The Sunday Salon is a Facebook group that has become an informal week-in-review gathering place for bloggers. It is also a place to share our thoughts about things of a bookish nature. You can also link up weekly on Readerbuzz. The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer ~ It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog, showcase books and things we have received, and share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead. HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE! September already. Why is this year flying by so fast? Remi had his 1st football game of the season last Saturday night. It is tackle, no more flags, this year. Sadly the 6th grade didn't have enough players to field their own team so they are now combined with the 7th graders. That means playing a little less and learning new positions. The team took a little time to find their rhythm and lost 0-6. Remi had some great plays including one that caused an interception. They didn't have a game this week due to the holiday weekend. You can see I have a new ride. Mr. Dollycas surprised me with a scooter. So I traded in the wheelchair for it for sporting events and other adventures. It's my favorite color - Purple! I am still getting used to operating it and just like when I was driving a car, reverse is not my strong suit. Hopefully, I will get it all figured out soon. Two of the grands started school on Wednesday—Thomas in Second Grade and Charlotte in Kindergarten. The Varsity boys played Friday night against the team that kept them from playing for a championship last year. They went on to win the state championship. So it was time for some redemption. Kaden did not play, nor did he play the first game last week. He suffered a concussion a couple of weeks ago at practice and has been following the concussion protocol. He was finally cleared to practice last Monday and has some catching up to do. They also have a new head coach this year so all the boys are adjusting to new ways of doing things. The game was a nail-biter and there were some mistakes but the Cardinals took the lead and held it to win 20 - 16. This week is a huge game against another state champ. Kaden hopes to be ready to play. It is hard for him to stand on the sidelines and watch. He loves playing this game. It was also Youth Night at the Varsity football game where kids from Kindergarten - 8th Grade were recognized. Of course, I did my reading, blogging, and book tours all week but chasing the grandkids is so much fun. How was your week? Engaging Millennial Parents: Social Media Tactics for Modern Kindergarten Promotion
As digital natives, millennial parents have ushered in a new era of kindergarten promotion, with expectations for engagement, transparency, and authenticity that challenge the traditional approaches to marketing. For preschools, this necessitates a fresh take on digital marketing strategies, specifically tailored to this technologically savvy, socially conscious cohort. Here, we delve into their unique digital behaviors and unpack how preschools can effectively leverage social media to attract and engage millennial families.
Understanding Millennial Parenting Trends
Millennial parents prioritize the holistic development of their children, opting for educational environments that are not only academically sound but also supportive of emotional intelligence and creativity. They are increasingly reliant on social media to inform their parenting choices, seeking advice, reviews, and recommendations from their networks and influencers they trust.
These parents are looking for content that resonates with their values, which include a strong sense of community, diversity, sustainability, and technology integration in learning. To capture their attention, preschools must align their digital marketing approaches with these values and present their message in a relatable and accessible manner.
Social Media Strategies That Resonate
Create Relatable Content
Behind the Scenes: Share day-to-day activities and special moments from your preschool to give an authentic view of what children experience.
Values-Based Messaging: Highlight how your preschool's values align with those important to millennial parents, such as inclusivity, creativity, and eco-friendliness.
Leveraging Instagram for Visual Storytelling
High-Quality Imagery: Post visually appealing photos of your school's environment, events, and student work.
Stories and Reels: Utilize Instagram Stories and Reels to share quick and engaging glimpses into your preschool’s community and activities in a format that is highly popular among millennials.
Pinterest as a Resource Sharing Platform
Educational Resources: Curate boards with homeschooling tips, nutritious meal plans, and DIY educational activities, positioning your preschool as a resource for holistic child development.
Virtual Bulletin Boards: Create boards for different age groups or learning themes, showcasing the innovative ways your school facilitates learning.
Collaborating with Influencers
Parent Influencers: Partner with relatable parent influencers who share similar values to your target audience. Their endorsement can lend credibility and broaden your reach.
Educational Thought Leaders: Engage with influencers who are respected in the early education space to discuss trends and methods that may highlight your preschool’s approach to learning.
Engaging Storytelling Strategies
Testimonials: Use storytelling to share experiences from current parents and alumni, allowing prospects to envision their children thriving at your preschool.
Interactive Content: Incorporate polls, quizzes, and open questions in your posts to encourage interaction and build community.
Conclusion
Digital marketing for preschool has to adapt to the rhythms of millennial parents, leveraging social media to create genuine connections and showcase what makes a preschool special. Engaging this audience through relatable content, effective use of platforms like Instagram and Pinterest, strategic influencer collaborations, and compelling storytelling are essential tactics in contemporary kindergarten promotion. Preschools that embrace this approach will not only attract millennial parents but will also build lasting relationships with the families that become a part of their educational community.

Chapter 26: The impostor of 20 faces (P1)
“Yudaiji-dono, what are you waiting for? You said that you had already planned everything.”
On the other end of the line, Idomu heard a voice filled with frustration and annoyance shouting at him. He calmly took out his phone, moving it away from his ear slightly, waiting for the other person to calm down before speaking:
"Didn't I just take action recently? Wasn't the interference with the weather forecasting device to sabotage the Kindergarten Fair according to your liking?"
"But in the end, nothing happened. Everything went back to how it was initially. You need to be more forceful."
The voice on the other end, although calmer, still contained a hint of irritation. Idomu chuckled softly, but this laughter made the person on the other end of the line uneasy.
"Do you think you have the right to give me orders? We are just temporary allies, cooperating because we have a common goal. In fact, I don't need you, and you can handle things on your own as well."
Hearing the gentle and indifferent voice of Yudaiji Idomu, the one on the other end fell silent for a while, before finally lowering his tone:
"It's my fault, I lost my composure. I will follow your lead, so what do we need to do now? I heard you visited the school for a preliminary assessment?"
Idomu didn't rush to respond. He approached the grand piano in his room, slowly sat down, opened the lid of the keys, tilted his head, placed the phone against his shoulder, and then slowly glided his hands over the piano keys. On the other end of the line, a melodious sound of the piano suddenly emerged, without any haste, but it made the listener feel a bit uneasy:
"Yudaiji-dono?"
After a moment, Idomu finally responded calmly, his voice so gentle that it seemed to blend into the melodies as if he was speaking to himself.
"Take it slowly, you can't create a series of events by doing the same thing repeatedly. It will make Imonoyama Nokoru suspicious, and I suspect he already has doubts. We have plenty of time, let's slowly torment them."
The last words spoken by Idomu were filled with sincerity and gentleness, harmonizing with the sound of the piano, sending shivers down the listener's spine. Idomu hung up the phone. Yes, his pain couldn't be expressed with just a few bursts of anger. It had to slowly spread, like poison dissolving in water, tormenting everyone in agony. Just thinking about it was exhilarating. Idomu began swaying his body to the rhythm of the piano keys, immersing himself in those deep melodies.
At the end of that day, Cliff Edmund, the son of the Edmund family, received a peculiar email. The email addressed the matter he was most concerned about, the famous thief known as 20 Faces. This email resembled an automated message with no possibility of reply, and it contained no information about the sender, with an empty IP address. However, he didn't care. What made him ecstatic was that the email revealed information about 20 Faces, stating that he was a student at Clamp School and even hinted at a way to make 20 Faces appear, possibly even cooperate with Cliff.
Cliff Edmund was sick, and he was a fanatic of 20 faces. Ever since 20 faces appeared, he had researched extensively and collected even the smallest pieces of information about 20 faces. He knew that 20 faces originated from Japan and had professional stealing techniques that could rival the legendary thief Arsene Lupin, who only existed in movies. But 20 faces was undeniably real. He wanted, desperately wanted, to possess that stealing technique, not for the purpose of stealing, but to satisfy his own conquering desires. Cliff Edmund's eyes gleamed with greed and hidden ambition, concealed behind his long bangs that covered half of his face, exuding a mysterious charm. His family's company, the Edmund Corporation, was currently investing in a miniature replica of London Island amusement park in Japan, close to Clamp School. Perhaps he should take this opportunity to invite his 20 faces fan club to visit the homeland of 20 faces.
Meanwhile, at Clamp School, every morning when Kanon arrived at school, her first task was to tend to the little sapling, it was still too small to compete with the surrounding tall trees. Despite Kanon's worries, she could see with her own eyes how quickly the sapling grew each day. In just over a week, it had reached her shoulders. Luckily, no one had noticed yet. Looking at the seemingly healthy tree, Kanon gently caressed the nearby young leaves and whispered to the tree:
“Dear tree, you're taking good care of yourself. I guess I won't need to come here every day anymore. I wish you well.”
A gust of wind passed by, causing the tree to sway and its branches to brush against Kanon, as if it was cuddling her, expressing gratitude. Kanon burst into laughter and a leaf fell into her hand.
“Is this a gift for me? Thank you.”
Kanon held the leaf up high, examining it. If the tree had given it to her, then it must have a purpose. Thinking so, Kanon carefully wrapped the leaf in a handkerchief and put it in her dress pocket. Farewell, tree. Kanon ran back to the student council room, and as she reached the door, she encountered Utako, who was preparing to open the door to submit a report on the joint meeting to Nokoru.
“Good morning, Kanon-oneesan!”
The little girl greeted Kanon with a bright smile, making Kanon unable to resist smiling back.
“Good morning, Utako-chan! You look so radiant today. Did you have a beautiful dream last night?”
Kanon asked playfully, but to her surprise, the little girl blushed and shyly smiled, confirming that Kanon's guess was correct. Kanon chuckled and opened the door.
And Kanon took the responsibility of making tea as Utako handed her report to Nokoru.
“Thank for your hard work, Ohkawa Kaichou, please join us for tea.”
Nokoru holding the report in his hand invited Utako.
“Since Ijyuin is not here today, try my tea instead.”
Kanon placed two cups of tea on the table for Utako and Nokoru, jokingly saying.
“Oh, is Ijyuin-sama busy with something today?”
“Ah, Ijyuin is busy showing some tourists around the school.
Nokoru sipped his tea and replied. He also enjoyed the taste of the tea made by Kanon, finding it gentle and soothing.
“Tourists?”
Utako was surprised by this word, so Suoh had to step in and explain. For some reason, a group of 20 Faces fans from abroad contacted the school, hoping to come and learn about the incidents related to 20 Faces. Currently, they are visiting Gamera Hall, where last year 20 Faces stole the main decorative curtain. Hearing this, Utako's face showed a hint of worry. So, after finishing her tea, she politely thanked everyone and said goodbye.
When Utako left, Kanon also asked for permission to leave. She knew something was about to happen. Usually, if she let things flow naturally, it wouldn't be a problem. But now, both Akira and Utako were her friends, and she didn't want them to get hurt because of someone else.
“Utako-chan, wait for me for a moment.”
“Huh, Kanon-oneesan, are you going to Gamera Hall too?”
Utako saw Kanon running after her and couldn't help but ask.
“So, you're going to Gamera Hall?”
Kanon asked with a teasing smile, making Utako blush and feel flustered. Kanon couldn't help but want to hug this adorable face and caress it.
“I'm going to check the situation there a bit. After all, 20 Faces is also a character in my story, remember?”
Seeing that Kanon had no intention of interrogating her, Utako naturally felt happy and brought up their favorite topic, her eyes lighting up.
“That's right! So, are you going to release a new detective story with 20 Faces?”
“It's possible. Since 20 Faces hasn't been stealing lately, I want to write a spin-off story where instead of stealing, 20 Faces solves mysteries.”
“Oh, that sounds great! I'll be the first one to buy the magazine.”
The two girls continued their conversation like that, and before they knew it, they had arrived at Gamera Hall. As they were climbing the wooden stairs to the second floor, they heard an English-accented voice speaking in Japanese, speculating about 20 Faces' identity:
“... So it's highly possible that 20 Faces is someone in this school.”
The two girls immediately recognized Akira standing next to a slightly chubby guy with orange hair. His outfit, with suspenders made him look like a character from a bygone era. Akira was facing him, with a hint of involuntary anxiety in his eyes, most likely because he was afraid of his identity being exposed. Kanon realized that Akira never wanted to be seen as a thief. No one wanted to live in constant fear of being caught, and at the same time, he took pride in his skills because his father was also a thief. They both only stole certain items, with a purpose, and never harmed innocent people.
Kanon silently observed while Utako confidently spoke up, as if to defend Akira:
“That's a very interesting hypothesis!”
Well said, Utako. It's just a hypothesis after all, Kanon silently gave her a thumbs up.
Akira and the foreign guy turned back towards the person who had just spoken. Akira was happy to see Utako, while Kanon felt more at ease. The foreign guy seemed a bit surprised and asked:
“Oh, excuse me, but you are...”
Akira immediately introduced both sides, and the foreign guy was introduced as John, a member of the 20 Faces fan club:
“20 Faces is very famous worldwide, and we admire him a lot.”
“I'm also a fan of 20 Faces.”
Utako smiled and shook hands with the guy.
Upon hearing Utako's name, John became very interested. After hearing the introduction about Kanon, he only shook her hand politely and then posed like a detective, asking Utako:
“Not only that, but Miss Ohkawa here is also a victim of 20 Faces, right? On your birthday last year, you had a statue of a mermaid stolen, with a valuable gem worth 100 million yen attached to it.”
Although his tone wasn't mocking, Kanon didn't like his nosy attitude, prying into someone else's personal matters.
“You know about that too?”
Utako asked in surprise, and then listened to John praising 20 Faces. Kanon silently cursed him as "crazy," but it was true that insensitive people often never realize it. Kanon felt a bit provoked and said:
“It seems like you know everything about 20 Faces.”
John was still in an excited state, nodding continuously:
“Of course, we gather every bit of information about 20 faces, and this time we're here just to confront this notorious thief.”
“Then do you know that I had also been stolen before?”
“Huh? What?”
Both John and Utako exclaimed in surprise, while Akira was left confused. He didn't expect Kanon to admit something like that. Kanon glanced at the nearby redhead photographer, Cliff Edmund, the troublemaker, who also stopped taking pictures and looked surprised upon hearing the unfamiliar news.
“You had been stolen too, uh, sorry, I mean Miss...
Kanon didn't respond, leaving John extremely confused. However, she didn't soften her heart and just gave a glance before turning away.
“Sorry, everyone, it's time for me to go to my club, so please excuse me.”
Then she leaned in and whispered into Utako's ear, "I'll tell you later, meet me in the council room after scholl," making the little girl smile and nod before she walked away.
“Oh no, what have I done? Is she angry now?”
When Kanon disappeared down the stairs, John panicked and asked Akira.
“Oh, that, Hanazaki is very busy, don't worry about it.”
“Hanazaki? Hanazaki Kanon?”
It was only now that John remembered Kanon's name and let out a sigh, unable to believe that he had missed the opportunity to get the autograph of the best detective fiction author of all time, writing about 20 faces:
“Oh my god, what have I done?”
Akira took the time to console the bewildered John, while Utako stood by, silently laughing at his foolishness. Cliff Edmund, who had stopped taking pictures, now looked towards the direction Kanon had gone, wanting to know what was going on between 20 faces and that girl. The fact that she had been stolen was something he had never heard of before. Could this be the key to unraveling the mystery of 20 faces?
After playing her little game, Kanon quickly grabbed her bag and disappeared, leaving John and Edmund to go to the elementary student council room and even her literature club, respectively, but they couldn't find her. At the end of visiting time, they were not allowed to stay in Clamp School to avoid disturbing the students, so they reluctantly returned to the hotel, planning to come back the next day.
In the student council room after school, Kanon happily opened the door and saw everyone gathered. As soon as Utako saw her, her eyes lit up:
“Kanon-oneesan, you're here!”
Kanon smiled and walked over to the tea table, teasing the little girl:
“Oh, Utako came to visit again?”
“Kanon-oneesan, please don't tease me anymore.”
Utako knew she was being teased but didn't get angry, she just shyly scolded Kanon. At this moment, the handsome and charming Student Council President, Nokoru, who occasionally had free time, joined in the fun:
“Ohkawa Kaichou said that 20 faces visited you too?”
Suoh was also curious, but he maintained a serious demeanor while waiting to hear Kanon's story, while Akira poured tea with trembling hands.
“It's nothing much, about 3 years ago, my mother bought a beautiful antique bedside lamp. That night, I received a letter from 20 faces, and then blah blah blah...”
The entire Student Council members listened intently as Kanon continued her story, welcoming the thief as if they were an esteemed guest. When Kanon mentioned turning on the lamp and greeting 20 faces, Nokoru burst into laughter.
“Kanon-chan, I didn't know you had such a great sense of humor.”
Utako was also excited, but her voice carried a hint of concern, giving off a sour tone.
“Did you also give 20 faces a cake? Did 20 faces accept it?”
“Yes, Utako also tasted that cake at my house. If you were him, would you have taken it?”
“Of course... um, I mean, the cake was really delicious.”
Utako slipped up but quickly regained her composure. However, when she heard the ending, knowing that 20 faces had given Kanon a new desk lamp, she seemed a bit disheartened. At that moment, Akira accidentally dropped the teacup onto the saucer, causing the hot tea to splash up and making him yelp.
“Be careful, Akira! That tea is hot.”
Kanon spoke up, reminding everyone that she wasn't afraid of being misunderstood. Whatever happens, happens, and it's better to speak up and clear any misunderstandings. But she had no intention of letting this misunderstanding drag on.
“Utako, you know, 20 faces understands things very well and is very fair. He took my lamp and even ate the cake, so he returned another lamp. Did you hear he has stole anything then returned something to someone.”
Utako couldn't help but touch the yellow bow pinned behind her head, the birthday gift from 20 faces after he took away the statue. Nokoru, understanding the situation, immediately chimed in:
“Kanon, did you not see 20 faces clearly? You can consider yourself the first person to have a direct conversation with him.”
Utako's heart ached. Wasn't she the first person to have a direct conversation with 20 faces? So she wasn't special to him? But then she shook her head, dismissing those thoughts. No, at that time, 20 faces and she didn't know each other yet. It wasn't strange for Kanon to have met him, but...
Seeing his little girl confused, Akira felt a pang of sadness and hoped for a chance to explain. But Suoh spoke up, hitting the nail on the head.
“But 20 faces just sat there drinking tea, he didn't take off his mask. How could Hanazaki see his face, right?
Kanon chuckled.
“That's right. I think when 20 faces takes off his mask for someone to see, that person must be incredibly special to him.”
Both Akira and Utako were left dumbfounded. Then Utako hurriedly asked:
“Incredibly special? But if that person is also meeting 20 faces for the first time and he takes off his mask and shows his face, doesn't that mean he was too easy or something? After all, he's known as the pompous thief.”
“Easy? Pom…po…us? No... he is… he is not like that.”
Upon hearing that, Akira choked on his tea, his face turning red, waving his hands as if to explain, stuttering to Utako. Nokoru smiled, adding fuel to the fire:
"We were just talking about 20 faces, everyone calls him that."
"I... I think... 20 faces isn't like that."
Akira hurriedly spoke, not wanting Utako to have that impression of him, he only had Utako in his heart. Only... Utako-san? Akira suddenly felt that he had been enlightened something incredibly important.
Utako stared intently, wanting to hear the answer from Kanon's mouth, even though Kanon wasn't the representative of 20 faces. But for some reason, Utako believed that if Kanon said something, she would feel reassured.
"If 20 faces takes off his mask for someone he meets for the first time, like you said, Utako-chan, then that must be destiny."

The Value of Patriotic Poems in Kindergarten Education
Patriotic poems play a significant role in early childhood education, especially during their time in kindergarten. These poems not only instill a sense of pride and love for one's country but also aid in the development of various language and cognitive skills. In this article, we will explore the importance of patriotic poems for kindergarten children and how they contribute to their overall growth and learning.
1. Fostering a Sense of Patriotism:
Patriotic poems help young children develop a sense of patriotism and love for their country from an early age. By reciting and listening to poems that celebrate their nation, kindergarteners begin to understand the importance of their homeland and its values.
2. Building Language Skills:
Learning and reciting poems require children to engage with language in a unique way. They listen to the rhythm, rhyme, and melody of the words, which enhances their phonological awareness and vocabulary. Kindergarten is a crucial time for language development, and patriotic poems contribute to this growth.
3. Enhancing Memory and Memorization:
Reciting poems involves memorization, and this can be an excellent exercise for young minds. Memorizing lines, stanzas, or entire poems helps improve a child's memory and cognitive abilities. It also boosts their confidence when they can recite a poem from memory.
4. Encouraging Creative Expression:
Patriotic poems often contain vivid imagery and descriptive language. When kindergarteners engage with these poems, they are encouraged to use their imagination to visualize the concepts and ideas presented. This fosters creative expression and critical thinking.
5. Teaching History and Culture:
Many patriotic poems touch upon historical events, cultural traditions, and national heroes. By introducing these poems in kindergarten, educators can lay the foundation for a child's understanding of their country's history and culture. It helps them connect with their roots and heritage.
6. Promoting Social and Emotional Development:
Reciting and discussing patriotic poems in a group setting, such as a kindergarten classroom, promotes social interactions. Children learn to take turns, listen to their peers, and express their feelings about their country. This contributes to their emotional development and social skills.
7. Celebrating National Holidays:
Patriotic poems are often recited during national holidays and events. Teaching kindergarteners these poems prepares them to actively participate in celebrations like Independence Day, Republic Day, and other national observances. It instills a sense of belonging and participation in community activities.
8. Connecting with Values and Morals:
Many patriotic poems convey values such as unity, equality, freedom, and justice. Exploring these themes through poems allows kindergarteners to reflect on important moral concepts and understand the principles that their country upholds.
9. Cultivating Appreciation for Diversity:
Patriotic poems often celebrate the diversity within a nation. They may mention different regions, languages, and cultures that make a country unique. Kindergarten children exposed to such poems develop an appreciation for diversity and learn that their country is a mosaic of cultures and traditions.
10. Nurturing a Sense of Unity:
While celebrating diversity, patriotic poems also emphasize unity. They convey the idea that despite differences, citizens are united by a common identity and purpose. Kindergarteners learn that they are part of a larger community, promoting a sense of unity and belonging.
11. Encouraging Reflection on Citizenship:
Patriotic poems can prompt young minds to think about what it means to be a responsible citizen. They may ponder questions like, "What can I do for my country?" or "How can I contribute to the well-being of society?" These reflections are essential for instilling a sense of civic responsibility from an early age.
12. Developing Presentation Skills:
Reciting patriotic poems in front of their peers or during school events helps children develop presentation skills. They learn how to speak clearly, project their voice, and maintain eye contact—a valuable skill set for their future academic and professional endeavors.
13. Providing Emotional Comfort:
In times of uncertainty or national challenges, patriotic poems can provide emotional comfort to children. The familiarity of the poems and the values they convey offer reassurance and stability, helping kids navigate complex emotions.
14. Strengthening Family Bonds:
Many families encourage their children to learn patriotic poems at home. This practice not only strengthens the bond between parents and children but also passes down cultural and national traditions through generations and for that there are lots of school app for parents, which provide this kind of services..
15. Bridging Generational Gaps:
Patriotic poems often have a timeless quality to them. Sharing these poems with kindergarteners allows grandparents and older family members to connect with younger generations. It bridges generational gaps and fosters meaningful intergenerational conversations.
16. Sparking Curiosity and Learning:
Patriotic poems often contain references to historical events and national symbols. When children encounter these references, they may become curious and ask questions. This curiosity can lead to further learning about their country's history and heritage.
17. Promoting Active Participation:
Patriotic poems can inspire children to actively participate in community service and volunteer activities. They may feel motivated to contribute positively to their surroundings, aligning with the values conveyed in the poems.
In conclusion, introducing patriotic poems to kindergarten children is an enriching educational experience. It not only contributes to their language and cognitive development but also fosters a sense of patriotism, cultural awareness, and social skills. These poems lay the foundation for a lifelong connection with their country's history, values, and traditions, making them proud and responsible citizens.

🌸 If you get this, answer with 3 random facts about yourself and send it to the last 7 blogs in your notifications, anonymously or not! Let's get to know the person behind the blog. 🌸
Since I honestly have no idea what to say about myself other than what I wrote on the other blog, I will copy-paste it hehe hope it's fine! I truly have no big, interesting facts worth noting, but I dug these up hoping they might interest.

Anime / Manga !
i love anime and manga. ive grown up with it ever since i was around 5. i would stay up on saturday nights till 7 am when inuyasha would start playing on adult swim. if i was ever too tired i would record the episode on our dvr and would watch it after getting home from kindergarten. crazy age to watch inuyasha but i always found it so cool.
also grew up on naruto. i am such a naruto nerd i have rewatched the og and shippuden so many times i can tell people which episode events happened, i can sing the openings in order, i can name most characters, etc. the naruto brainrot is bad. same thing with bleach and dragonball z. the new bleach has me so hyped i loved watching every episode made me want to rewatch the main series but i have no time so i just watch small clips here and there.
i love just about every genre of anime tbh. sports animes (baki, hajime no ippo, kengan asura, one outs, eyeshield 21, etc). idol animes (idolish 7, tsukiuta, tsukipro, etc). shounen, mystery, shoujo, literally everything. i have to be in a certain mood to watch mech animes but whenever one comes out that catches my eye i put all my energy into watching it. i think the only genre i dont enjoy much is isekai, i used to like them but new ones come out too often i cant keep up.
currently watching

Cars !
my day to day guilty pleasure is cars. i love cars. they are cool, go fast, go stutututu, whine, be loud, have cool lights, i love everything about a good car.
i have a brz! bought it myself and it is my pride adn joy. it is one of my favorite cars and when i bought it in november i literally cried. I drive manual and its so fun to me! i want to learn how to drift but im a bit nervous because i dont want to accidentally mess up anything in my car.
Reading !
i love books i love reading. i love fiction, sci-fi, philosophy, nonfiction, fanfiction, everything. I was never into books like harry potter and anything with too many magical elements in them but always loved horror and more mystery thriller books.
i have been dying to buy more physical books to add to my mini library in my room but theres a few books on my backlog i need to complete before i do that.
i also have a slowly growing manga collection that i desperately need to add to.
i read all day all night on my phone but the feeling of flipping real pages is so satisfying and having the weight of a book in my bag is just so nice.
Music !
not to toot my own horn but my spotify wrapped minutes is always 140k+. i listen to music all day everyday. while doing homework, reading, driving, working, in class (pay attention dont be like me), watching stuff it doesnt matter. i have a terrible habit of getting bored of something very easily so i always multitask and need 20 things happening at the same time so music is amazing at keeping me focused.
i love 'underground archive', rnb, krnb, jpop, citypop, lofi, rap, edm, literally a whole lot of stuff. i dont like pop that much ive grown to realize same with country, i can listen to it but only if someone else wants to.

Storch: 'Roots and Wings'
This week I was listening to my favorite talk radio and heard I have been given the directive to write about something I am emotional about, keeping in “theme” with other writers. For me, a topic that I was emotional about was easy. I am not sure it will be that easy to write. Often, you hear people say if they realized this was the last, they would have … I have been through a good bit of lasts: the last diaper changes; the last nap; the last time to be the Tooth Fairy. The last time I tied my son’s skates. The last time I fixed my daughters’ hair. The last high school formals, not to out shadow the last high school graduation. Many of these events, I would have embraced a little more tightly if in the moment I had realized it was the last. Some, of course, I did. This week, Tom and I will move our last child into her dorm room. Notice I said, last. This is not our first rodeo. We have moved our people into dorms and apartments a good bit. This is our last. This experience is both familiar and surreal. We know the drill. Boxes and bags filled with all of her essentials. A mix of nerves and excitement for all of us. That bittersweet feeling of watching our child step one step further into adulthood. Roots and wings. Yet each time it is different. Roots and wings. This time, I think the process will be smoother, partially because it is our third time and largely because of this child. This child has been making lists and setting stuff aside in a designated spot for more than 3 months, and not because she wants to leave. She is just that organized. As we haul boxes and other stuff to the car and into the dorm, I envision a sense of déjà vu. We have been here before. We have done this before. Twice. I know how the day will end: with hugs, some tears, and a drive home that feels both quiet and heavy. As much as the logistics seem easier, the emotional impact does not seem like it is going to be less. In fact, it seems heavier, and my house will be quieter. This is our third. The baby of the family. Sending her off feels like we are closing a chapter in a book, I am not ready to finish. The first two times, I had the comfort of knowing there were still kids at home. When Seth moved to Lexington to attend the University of Kentucky, Alexis was starting her sophomore year in high school. Payton was starting 4th grade. While that drive was tear-filled, we had cheer and soccer practices to get to and school supplies to buy. Focus was able to shift to what needed to be done. When Alexis moved into her dorm at Kent State University, everyone was tired, frustrated, hot, and hungry. Alexis moved into a dorm with no air conditioning. Alexis’ move was probably the reason Payton had committed to housing last October, even before solidifying her choice of school. But as excited for Alexis as I was as she wrote her next chapter, we had logistics at home to deal with for Payton. Focus again was able to be shifted to what needed to be done. Now, the house will be emptier, the rhythm of daily life quieter. There are no more practices. No more school supplies to buy. As I think forward to next weekend with Tom assembling some items to enhance and maximize space in her new “home,” and me helping her arrange her room, finding just the right spot for her favorite pictures, I keep thinking how quickly time has passed. It seems like just yesterday she was heading to preschool and starting kindergarten with her cute, little, navy blue blazer and backpack almost as big as she was. Now, she is embarking on this next big adventure. There is a palpable sense of pride, too. I have had the pleasure to watch her grow into a confident, capable, young woman, ready to take on the challenges and opportunities that college will bring. She will thrive, just like Seth and Alexis, but it does not make the pending goodbye any easier. We have been through this before, yet I am sure each departure is unique. This time, like both times before, we are leaving our child but also leaving a piece of our heart. We are leaving a part of our lives that has been central for so long. We have been raising children for many, many years. We know the drive home will feel quieter, the house will feel different, and the dogs will be confused seeing three of us leave but only two return. It will be an adjustment, but I am proud to know we have done our job well, raising our kids ready to face the world on their own. Roots and wings. Read the full article
