Once upon a time…
It always starts like that. And the story is always the same. Okay, okay, allow me to start over, dear reader. Apologies for this drawn out introduction.
In many kingdoms, land and sea, there's an amazing prince, or prince to be, that wish to share a world with another. Princes that dream, princes that work tirelessly, princes truthful to themselves, and princes that never back down. All wishing to have the one true love that will adore them endlessly and unconditionally.
And you, dear reader, hold the world, no, THEIR worlds in your precious hands. More than that. You hold their hearts. So please use a gentle touch and kind words. They only wish got you to love them too.
Be their knight in shining armor, or let them be yours, in the throes of evil enchantress and curses. Take their hand in yours. Guide them through a world they have never been able to explore on their own. Beware, however, that they aren't the only ones after your heart.
So step through the story one last time to experience their endings. Where they end up with you and have their happily ever after till the end.
And I mean the very end.

Wish to continue?

You know, looking back on it, in the wake of Once Upon A Time, I guess it's actually kind of a good thing my favorite underrated Disney movies (Atlantis the Lost Empire and Treasure Planet) didn't get that much attention.
I don't think I'd be able to keep a straight face if Disney's scrappy steampunk sci-fi Jim Hawkins made a deal with the Evil Queen or Rumpelstiltskin to take him to the stars or something so he could save Silver from the Wicked Witch or whoever the magical arc villain was in that season and bonding with Henry over both having pirates for dads when Henry's mom married Captain Hook.

In 1938, archeological Professor Henry “Indiana” Jones Jr (Harrison Ford) was recruited once more to beat the Nazi’s to another religious relic, this time the Holy Grail. This adventure reunited him with his estranged father (Sean Connery) and, in an odd turn of events, even gave him a brief encounter with Adolf Hitler (Michael Sheard). Happy International Day of Women and Girls in Science!
Olivia Hadley, Merida Rhys (@lilyoffandoms), and Casey MacTavish (@jerzwriter) by the incredible and talented ArtbyAinna (instagram)!
I thought about getting Valentine's art of these three, but then thought it'd be fun to celebrate their achievements and friendship for International Day of Women and Girls in Science instead. All three of these lovely ladies is brilliant and inspiring! They're lucky to have each other just but not as luck as I am to have Lily and Elsa in my life! They're the best! Love you both so much!!!
Learn more about these three in a "Magazine Interview" they did recently!

I have nearly finished The Serpent and The Wings of Night so here are some thoughts: (spoilers)
I saw comparisons to rhys and cassian so i was SCARED - didn't really get those vibes tbh, maybe physically similar to cassian
i don't know why these vampires have wings but whatever
good world building
i've enjoyed the plot - i think my niche plot is little murder competitions
the big thing that has annoyed me throughout and has prevented me giving it 5 stars is the fact Oraya has been injured multiple times, all of them have bled profusely and occurred in a short space of time but she's suffering no adverse effects. Two vampires have also fed from her and she's still got blood left. I also find it frustrating when you have a mortal with supernatural beings yet she's just as fast, just as strong, and capable of killing them without a massive struggle (i get she's trained but they should surely always be at a massive advantage). And then she has magic but it's super strong. I'm presuming this will be explained at the end or next book and there will be a twist that she isn't completely mortal or something. But i want just once to have a regular ass mortal who is at a disadvantage or whose wounds fuck them up (looking at Elsa from The Story of Old)
Overall, it's probably going to be 4 stars
(but why the random line about making up the word pineapple?!)

Hey wanted to tell you I love seeing Rana on my dash! Can you tell little bit more about Rana? How does she view her relationship with her teammates? Does she have any family? What drew her towards Wyll?
oh stop this is so sweet omg 😭😭😭 Im glad you all like to see her bcus i love to show her off!! she's my little angel and the only tav i've had break past act 1!
I'll put most of this under the cut but I wanna put out a disclaimer that I came up with her background before learning abt anyone elses backstories so if she seems very similar to an origin character i swear its on accident 😭😭!!!!!!
Rana is a tiefling rogue assassin :)! Her backstory is that of a street urchin and after her mother died when she was very young, she spent a lot of time outside of her home. Her father wasn't very good at fathering and oftentimes they didn't even speak with one another despite living together in the same home. At the age of 12, she ends up stealing a little more than something that can be unnoticed and gets arrested. Upon her father hearing out her year-long sentence and hefty bail, he decides it's better to let her rot in prison for her sentence than to spend his little money on bailing her out.
Of course, Rana breaks herself out after 3 weeks and never returns to Baldur's Gate until the fateful day of the Nautiloid! She spends a lot of her time traveling the coast, running through different guilds and vowing to never rely on anyone.
With her backstory out of the way, she has a very interesting relationship with everyone! 😭 So for those who don't know, I played this story with my darling dearest bestie @katagawajr who has her own character Vaeril. To put her in Jordan's words, Vaeril's very much a disney princess-esque, think Anna from Frozen or Rapunzel, or if you're familiar with Sophie from Howl's Moving Castle!! (where as you have Rana who despite being fire coded is very much Elsa-like)
Tumblr media
(and sometimes she teams up in a detective noir episode alongside Private Wyll Ravengard to uncover the mysterious explosive toys of Baldur's Gate.... but thats a side quest) (yes it's chaos).
Moving onto Origins, She's got a very funny raport with Gale. He's an obvious know-it-all but unlike most egotistical men Rana's run into, he has the facts to prove it. For my Blands mutuals, she's got a very Fiona and Rhys type of dynamic where they do get along but you wouldn't believe it from the amount they bicker. Vaeril also romanced Gale in this playthru so she's very much >:( hurt my best friend and ill kill you wizard boy.
Karlach is Rana's best friend. They have very similar backstories and although they didn't know one another as kids, they're very protective of one another. Lae'zel is also one of Rana's closest friends even though she's obviously more reserved, they get along very well on the battlefield and rely on one another. Halsin makes Rana nervous because he's just So Sweet and Asty is pretty much entertaining (they argue abt the best techniques to take people down quietly ofc). Shadowheart and her also get along albeit it's a bit more reserved because of Rana's intrinsic and initial mistrust of familal figures.
haha. onto Wyll. Which is probably the funniest of funniest stories. Originally, Rana was... very put off. On one hand, she's heard of the blade of frontiers and genuinely thinks what he does is great, but on the other hand... Wyll has a heart of gold and it scares her. When they have their talk on the beach in Act One, Rana sees that he's not this 'perfect hero' and that he has doubts just like anyone else- he put on a front just like she did. Keeping people at arms length was just... natural.
So yea, they develop from their as they do in canon and albeit his sweet nature, Rana's incredibly shy abt their relationship and answers virtually no questions unless pestered by Vaeril :). They wear Lover's Caress rings to protect one another, and once they get to Baldur's Gate, Rana is quite... stand offish with Ulder and anyone else who dares to be rude to Wyll.
Ok i'll cut my essay short but THANK YOU FOR ASKING!!!I love talking abt her im just . so incredibly shy. but i truly appreciate anyone who made it this far down the ask ily!! 😭😭😭😭

Okay so I agree with almost everything you said about Tamlin-
I don’t think what happened with Rhys’ family was entirely an accident (I could be remembering wrong and can go check in the books and will happily admit that I was wrong if I am-)
But like.. Tamlin obviously knew how his dad and brothers were when he told them about Rhys’ location. He knew that Rhys was seen as a threat. I don’t think he wanted to kill Rhys’ mom and sister, but I don’t believe he was doing much to stop it either. I don’t like that when they were UTM he used his one free moment alone with Feyre to try and fuck her. I realize that trying to get her out of there would’ve just ended worse for everyone involved but damn dude, could’ve talked to her or something before trying to fuck-
I did like Tamlin before the mountain (I don’t understand how Feyre fell in love with him when Lucien was right there-) , didn’t love him in acomaf, but also I tried to keep in mind that he was only used to toxic masculinity. It gave me strong Elsa vibes ngl, “conceal don’t feel”. He didn’t know anything else. And after going through fifty years of trauma he didn’t want to make a billion different changes for himself or his court. He wanted things to go back to how they were before Amarantha said “fuck everyone else this male hurt my feelings”
He didn’t deserve for Feyre to destroy his court, he didn’t deserve for her to manipulate him into believing Lucien (his only friend and LUCIENS ONLY FRIEND THAT SAVED HIM FROM HIS ABUSIVE FAMILY-) was betraying him or trying to steal her away. I lost a lot of respect for Feyre when she did all of that in acowar- and also, I don’t like that she used Lucien and Elains mating bond as a pawn in her schemes- I know it wasn’t acknowledged by Elain yet or whatever but knowing how the mating bond can drive people to insanity if their mate is in danger, it was a shitty thing to do to Lucien and I don’t think he deserved that.
He was trying to help Feyre the best he could without directly saying fuck you to the guy who saved him when his brothers were trying to murder him, the guy who took him in when he had no one else-
All this is to say that I agree wholeheartedly that none of the characters are perfect, I don’t think that Tamlins role in Rhys’ family dying was a complete accident but I do think that saving Feyre when she rescued Elain from Hybern and then saving Rhys should be enough to set up a redemption arc for Tamlin because bro deserves it- and I hate how Feyre had to drag Lucien into it all because my baby didn’t deserve that at all-
And if I was in Feyres position I probably would’ve just committed minor vandalism (she could’ve just destroyed his favorite room in the manor, idk-) and told everyone Tamlin had a small dick and moved on 🤷🏼‍♀️
Sorry for the long rant, and I hope I didn’t offend anyone- it just irritates me that like 90% of the fandom is like “yaaaasssss queen 💅” when a queen wouldn’t have acted that way and if Tamlin had set out to intentionally destroy Feyres life like that, everyone would be rioting-
Justice for Tamlin and Lucien please
maybe it wasn’t an accident, it would track! I don’t know, I can barely remember that part of the books honestly 💀 as for lucien, yes I agree about that too! feyre did him diiiiiirty. justice for both of them 😩

Get In Line: Cocaine Bear Review
Tumblr media
Pictured above is the “Cocaine Bear” poster.
So, usually I cover movies that are straight horror, but I decided to do something different and discuss this movie. This movie has an insane premise with an interesting story that inspired the movie. Usually, horror comedies are hit and miss for me, but I decided to give it a watch. Let’s get straight to the spoiler free review and hope no cocaine addicted bears are around.
Cocaine Bear is a 2023 horror comedy thriller directed by Elizabeth Banks who also produced this movie, Produced by Max Handelman, Aditya Sood, Brian Duffield, Phil Lord, and Chris Miller. Cocaine Bear is written by Jimmy Warden, and the soundtrack is done by Mark Mothersbaugh. The cast involves Keri Russell as Sari, Alden Ehrenreich as Eddie, O’Shea Jackson Jr. as Daveed, Ray Liotta as Syd, Isiah Whitlock Jr. as Bob, Brooklynn Prince as Dee Dee, Christian Convery as Henry, Margo Martindale as Ranger Liz, Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Peter, Kristofer Hivju as Olaf, Hannah Hoekstra as Elsa, Ayoola Smart as Officer Reba, Aaron Holliday as Kid (Stache), J.B. Moore as Vest, Leo Hanna as Ponytail, Kahyun Kim as Beth, Scott Seiss as Tom, Matthew Rhys as Andrew Thornton, and Allan Henry as “Bear Performer”.
The Plot:
An oddball group of cops, criminals, tourists, and teens converge on a Georgia forest where a huge black bear goes on a murderous rampage after unintentionally ingesting cocaine.
Positives:
One positive I have about “Cocaine Bear” is that it knows what it is, and what I mean by that is that it’s a movie about a bear on cocaine, that alone sounds crazy, but they have fun with that premise. The real black bear died on December 23rd,1985 after eating a large amount of cocaine from the containers, the total amount of cocaine that was eaten was 75 pounds which was worth $20 million ($55.6 million, adjusted for inflation).

The second positive I have about this movie was the dark humor throughout, the reason I loved the dark humor throughout as some of the death scenes are so unexpected and over the top that you can’t just help but laugh. The dialogue was creative and some characters’ reactions to certain situations had me laughing.
The final positive I have about this movie was the cast as they understood the assignment, the acting reminds me of an 80’s b-horror movie. Keri Russell nailed her performance as Sari, and I must give props to the child actors (Brooklynn Prince and Christian Convery.) But this does have some drawbacks which we’ll get to.

Negatives:
One negative I have is the lack of character development. I know it’s not supposed to be taken seriously, but I would’ve enjoyed seeing how each character’s story progresses since they are all intertwined. Another negative I have is that I felt that the movie wasn’t scary enough, I know the real bear died via overdose, but can you imagine how terrifying would it be to have a 500-pound black bear high on cocaine chasing you. I honestly wish they could have played up on the fear factor.
My Overall thoughts:
While this movie has some negatives, don’t let them affect your viewing experience as it’s one of the movies where you turn your mind off and eat some popcorn. If you enjoy campy, gory, and darkly comedic horror movies, this one is for you. But I’m glad that studios are letting directors make the movies they want even if they are based on…as I said before insane backstories. This movie is amazing in its own way with its over the top violence, comedic timing, and action throughout which only increases its re-watchability.

THIS IS SO CUTE! What are some most wanted characters????
THANK YOU SO MUCH. The smile this brought me is unmatched. Some of the most wanted around here are Glenn & Maggie from The Walking Dead, Elsa & Anna from Frozen, Marceline & Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time, JJ & Penelope from Criminal Minds, Hondo, Jessica Cortez & Chris Alonzo from S.W.A.T., any Steven Universe characters, Jake Reilly, Charlotte King, & Henry Montgomery from Private Practice, Andrew DeLuca, Miranda Bailey, Meredith Grey, Cristina Yang, & Kai Bartley from Grey's Anatomy, Princess Tiana from The Princess & The Frog, Nick Fury from Marvel, Rhys and Nesta from ACOTAR, and anyone from The Proud Family. But honestly, this is just scratching the surface of who we'd love to see around here. I'd also love to see some more Naporia locals around here if you're feeling an OC.

Ladham, Wales 1347
The King has called for more men for the war with France. The Mayor's son, Maddog volunteered. We have heard reports that our Ieuan is fighting for the French. May his name be cursed!
The Baron has married Lady Nanne. We don't know much about her, but hope that they are happy.
Elsa has died of old age. She was the oldest person any of us had ever met, over 60 when she finally succumbed to old age. Tus and Elise are raising her sons. They also had a son of their own, Larkin.
Speaking of babies, Nataly and Rhys just had a baby that they named after his brother, Ynyr. Their family is quite large and healthy, which is wonderful as Rhys's family has had a lot of loss and sadness.
Other than the war, we seem to be blessed by the watcher. The only recent deaths have been from old age, and the children are hearty and happy!

TW: Mentions of Rape/Sexual Assault
Your point about SA is so true. She adds it to everything. There was absolutely no reason, no benefit to the plot at all, for SJM have the kelpie kiss Nesta and SA her mouth and for Lanthys to show her a vision where she’s repeatedly raped. There was no point to it and it was quite literally just another reason for SJM to punish Nesta’s character on top of everything else that happened in ACOSF.
I find SA in media a really difficult topic. Putting under a read more - discussion of ACOTAR and my own writing in it. Trigger warnings relating to SA.
I complete agree that there was no reason for that to happen to Nesta. Cassian proceeding to have rough sex with her after the kelpie was also completely uncalled for an unnecessary, demonstrating how wrong their relationship is.
But then I have to ask, why is any SA needed? There is so much suffering in the books as it is. Going into the cauldron could be an allegory to SA as they're losing their humanity against their will.
I think even in tog, all of the cadre had to have a sexual relationship with Maeve (with perhaps the exception of Lorcan). Did Rhys really have to SA Feyre for weeks/months? Why are there so many sexual predators in SJMs books? I get that majority of her characters are horny 100% of the time, but it's so unnecessary.
Spoilers of my book if you haven't read it and plan to.
***
***
***
In the Story of Old, Elsa is raped at the end of the first book by Mazir, who is the man who takes her from her home and introduces her to Lazarin. I originally had the scene far more graphic then I took it out because I was sick of SA being so rife in books then I put a toned-down scene back into it where it focuses just on Elsa zoning out and wishing it was over.
The reasons why I put it back in were:
Mazir only ever saw Elsa as a possession. There was little sexual desire, he purely saw her as something that he owned. Knowing what it meant to her, he did it as a way to hurt her and try to keep her as his because she was "ruined"
Elsa was taught to pride her virginity, save herself until marriage, and stay with one person. In book 2, she will reflect on those ideals and realise that actually, that isn't all she is. She endured something horrific, but it wasn't her fault whatsoever and she is not "ruined" because of it. She is worth far more than what lies between her legs.
She will heal from it, learn to enjoy sex and see that there is pleasure within it. She will also have her justice. She will find peace. She will find her revenge.
Elsa has to give her life up for a world where there are not just good people and that moral dilemma is something she really struggles with in books 2&3. It also makes her question her faith because her Gods didn't swoop in and save her.
Despite all of these reasons, I still have guilt about putting it in my story because books should be an escape. Yet it plays such an important role in Elsa's journey and massively changes her character arc. I worked really hard to almost "justify" why I included it, trying hard to find ways to not include that event, because it was not purely for shock value. In book 2, it's not forgotten about. Elsa embarks on a new relationship and sometimes she's absolutely fine with sex and then sometimes, her body seizes up and she freaks out. I've tried really hard to reflect a natural healing journey that includes set backs.

Working on a familyecho tree for the NSB. I've gone overboard on tracing the lineage, since I tend to reeeeally do things when I do things, lol.
In looking at the in-game family tree, I realized:
Kent Al Habib, Florence's very brief boyfriend, is the grandson of Alexander Goth (his daughter, Elsa, apparently married an Al Habib.) Alexander's sister, Olivia, was married to Floyd, Florence's great-grandfather; however, there's no blood relation, since Olivia was only Violet's stepmother. Violet's mother was the daughter of Lia Hauata and Marcus Flex.
There's still a living Goth carrying the Goth name, but only one, also through Alexander. I'm gonna hook him up with someone to keep that going, lol.
Kacie, Rhys' spouse, is the grandchild of Kyle Kyleson. (And the Delgatos, but I kind of assumed that.)
Robin (Ruby's twin) has fully dropped from the in-game family tree, though I know he married Cecilia Kang, a townie from Cottage Living, and had at least one kid. I'm guessing his branch of the tree is all dead and their ghosts are gone, so they stopped registering?
Also, not much of a realization, but I had to give Silas' (long-deceased) parents names in order to set Otho as his "brother". I went with Aglaia and Evangelos Samaras.
