Fanfic idea: "Last Clear Chance Doctrine"
Cannon divergence from "Black and Blue" (6x05): Kim shows up to box Howard instead and confronts him - point blank - about why dragging out the Sandpiper case is unethical and how, because HHM kept stealing cases out from under Wexler-McGill, their options have been limited to (1) continuing to live paycheck-to-paycheck, (2) taking on high-paying but unsafe clients, or (3) stealing Sandpiper back by any means necessary. She explains how - animosity aside - the sabotage is not about revenge; she's tired of needing Howard's permission to start her own practice and live her life.
See here's my reasoning... Yes, Jimmy confronted Howard earlier in "Fall" (3x09) trying to convince him to do the right thing. But because this show is all about ambiguity, unbeknownst to Jimmy, Howard is coming fresh off a nasty fight with Chuck and wasn't really open for another debate. And Wexler-McGill went directly from that to deciding to sabotage the case... because they are crazy people and this is a wacky tv show. But it does make you wonder if, had they appealed to Howard one more time after Chuck died, if things could have gone differently.
There are two potential endings for this fic:
Howard sees reason and decides to settle, and we follow what that means for HHM and for his pride. He's redeemed, but is tragically killed in some other freak accident because my HC is that this character is just straight-up marked by the reaper.
Or (more likely) because in case you haven't noticed I don't really like Howard, it would be a character study; on the breakthroughs he is (or isn't!) making in therapy, wtf his problems with Cheryl are, and most importantly why he CAN'T risk HHM's finances by settling, because the legacy of the firm is all twisted up with his baggage about his father and about Chuck. And the rest of Season 6 proceeds as it canonically did. But now with the vindication/absolution that what Jimmy and Kim did really was the only way the old folks were going to see justice in a timely fashion. Probably a little bit of me on my soapbox about late-stage capitalism a bit by the end.
The great thing about BrBaBCS fanfiction is that it takes every possible moment of the timeline, and spirals them out into fractals of missed opportunities and roads not taken. And one of those missed opportunities was making your testosterone-fueled, fan-service, explicitly-canonically-resolved-nothing, plot-cul-de-sac of a boxing scene slightly less pointless by at least showing off what Rhea's biceps can do.
Like Jimmy just is a (supposedly cis) man; so anything he thought he had to prove by fighting Howard was just stupid machismo. Kim on the other hand... her beef with Howard is specifically tied to how Howard is a bit sexist and constantly overlooks her. So even if she lost the boxing match (she totally wouldn't), she'd still have won by calling his bluff and pressuring Howard to hit her as hard as he was prepared to punch Jimmy.

Even DDA Oakley… we find out that he has a line in the sand with ethics that’s really eating away at him.

Some of the Breaking Bad sights from my mini-trip to the southwest! Was visiting a friend in Colorado but flew in and out of Albuquerque so took full advantage by making my way around some of the more iconic BrBa/El Camino/BCS locations! (going down, left, right, left, right...)
The Holy Land aka Twisters aka Los Pollos Hermanos! This one in particular was pretty surreal, and my visit happened to coincide with a small tour group passing through so I was able to eavesdrop on their guide and hear about who sat in which booths etc. Didn’t eat there but did get a couple gatorades since I - very predictably - got sunstroke on the first day.
Had my first breakfast at The Grove! Super nice cafe which I would have enjoyed more had I not been so anxious that morning. Two of my flights in were cancelled (one literally turning back midair), so I’d gotten in super late and had a stressful time finding my way to my hotel in the dark with no internet/gps, in a rental car I didn’t really know well yet. Anyways woke up the next morning at 4 feeling so anxious I debated just flying back home that same day lol. But I told myself to get a grip and to go sightsee to feel better AND I DID. Anyways this was my first stop after getting myself out of the hotel and I couldn’t eat much of what seemed like a very good breakfast sandwich. But the tea + stevia was great! Better than Lydia’s anyhow:P
Got my nails done at Zen Nail Spa, which was the one Saul tries to convince Jesse to buy to launder his money! “Pink, Pinkman, get it?”
The Dog House! I so wish I’d eaten here, but when you’re full you’re full. Also wish I’d gone at night to see the neon sign properly, but I was pretty wiped out by sundown and had a long drive the next day. Next time!
Jesse’s House! Okay so I wasn’t originally planning on going to any of the houses, but when I realized how close it was to the Dog House I walked by, and since no one was home I snapped a quick pic. It really is a gorgeous house/neighbourhood. I wasn’t even tempted to go to the ‘White House’ though, just knowing how much the owners have to put up with lol.
Tuco’s clubhouse!...which is actually a very funky cafe called Java Joe’s.
The Owl Cafe! This one I’d already seen pictures of pre-El Camino, and it’s exactly the kind of kitschy structure I’m into. Picked up a very good chocolate milkshake there.
Probably the highlight of these sights, El Moreno aka ‘El Michoacano’ aka where Nacho and the Salamancas conduct their cartel business! This one is quite close to Twisters, and on my way there I was like ‘oh that’s a cool yellow building, oh THAT’S IT!’ Stopped in on the way back, and it looks exactly like it does on the show. I ended up grabbing early dinner there which was delish (I don’t think it was it was Lalo cooking back in in the kitchen...). But yeah just a really neat, out of the way, super authentic little restaurant, and I totally get the showrunners seeing it and wanting to include it just because of what a distinct exterior it has.
Also picked up some swag of course! It’s probably for the best I never visited ABQ at the height of my BrBa infatuation haha otherwise I’m sure there wouldn’t have been a single piece of merch left in the city:P But I got a BCS mug to go with my BrBa one and some blue ‘meth candy’ from the lady who made all the rock candy for the show.
Oh and I also had a nice long chat with the guy who runs ‘The Breaking Bad Store’ in Albuquerque, which is all very cool BrBa souvenirs. He’s met pretty much the whole cast/crew and says everyone is crazy nice. He has a lot of their autographs tattooed on his arms (if it were not obvious, he’s a massive fan lol) and apparently when Rhea Seehorn saw them she said ‘not a lot of the women on there, huh?’ so he had her sign his arm and he later showed it to her tattooed and she was delighted lol #queen. But yeah we traded BCS theories, gushed a lot about different scenes, and you should definitely stop in and say hi if you’re a fan and in town, because he’s very nice and had a lot of good stories!
Anyways I saw a lot of other cool, non Breaking Bad stuff in ABQ too haha, it’s a very neat city, but thought I’d keep the BrBa pics/trivia confined to one post:P But yeah, I had a shorter trip than planned because of all the nonsense with my flights, but it was still nice to get one full day in ABQ before driving up to see my friend! I’d go back anytime.

THE PERFORMER | Christopher Lloyd
THE SHOW | NCIS
THE EPISODE | “The Arizona” (April 14, 2020)
THE PERFORMANCE | When it was announced that Lloyd, so beloved for his work on Taxi and in the Back to the Futurefilms, would be guest-starring on CBS’ No. 1 drama, you had to suspect something special was on tap. But perhaps no one anticipated the range of emotions his performance would evoke.
As Joe Smith, a 95-year-old who tasked Gibbs’ team with proving that he was stationed aboard the USS Arizona at the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor (and thus deserves to have his ashes interred there upon his death), Lloyd was, yes, amusing, such as when insisting that McGee and Jimmy make like CSI by comparing DNA samples. And yes, he was formidably gruff when chastising Bishop and Torres for their anemic knowledge of naval history.
But when Gibbs pressed the alleged vet to make his own case by detailing the sights, sounds and smells of Dec. 7, 1941, Lloyd let loose with one of the most vivid, anguished monologues in recent TV history. “It was me!” he bellowed, in such a way that Gibbs (Mark Harmon, with one of his own finest performances) probably needed to hear nothing else. But he would hear so much more. “It was like the Devil opened his mouth and made a noise that was all screaming!” Joe recalled, gesticulating as if trying to wave away the memory of “body parts all over the deck,” while any intact seamen were “charred to the bone.” Joe’s recollection got personal, and Lloyd broke down sobbing, as he described fishing three men out of the water, including his friend Ozzy: “We should have been tossing a football!”
Joe summed up his feelings by saying that his crew mates were brothers to him, and when he passes, “I want to be laid to rest with my family. I want to go home.” That wish would be granted very soon after as Lloyd delivered a gut punch of a death scene, when Joe suffered a sudden heart attack and faded in Gibbs’ arms.

Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan pick which PENS are on the desk. There's zero percent chance my cast would be on the wrong arm.
Rhea Seehorn, talking about how some Better Call Saul fans thought there was a continuity error when her character, Kim Wexler, had a cast on her arm but they were mistaken. When she is looking into a mirror, the cast is reflected but still on the correct arm.

Q: How difficult was it working with the cast on your arm? A - Rhea Seehorn: “My cast is real. It is not removable and is on for the duration of the scenes until it is sawed off. Paramedics put it on in the morning. It was a matter of testing a lot of different materials to see what we could get away with that would still look real. If you do a cast at your wrist, you can slip it off but as soon as you go past your elbow joint, you can’t slip something on and off. We had some pretty high-tech art department people that tried to come up with things. Once you make it big enough for clips in the back, it gets very fat. So, this was the best option. I didn’t fight that because I trust all of the creative people on the team and it came to be an interesting burden for me to use as Kim. Doing my own bra was impossible and I had to ask for help. It made me think about Kim having to ask Jimmy to do her bra in the mornings. She must hate that! I needed help in the lunch line. I don’t love being a pain in the ass, so it was good for me to realize that Kim would be feeling that times 300. I liked it for that reason. I didn’t hate it in real life, but it was fun to think about how much it would bother Kim.” (x)
