With Targaryens being the "Incest House" and apparently canonically having no repercussions of inbreeding, I'm surprised they didn't solve all their Succession Problems with marriage.

Rhaenys is the First Born but Viserys is the Eldest Son? Marriage. Oh, "he loved Aemma? She loved Corlys?" Sorry, Duty and Sacrifice.

Rhaenyra is Heir but Aegon is First Son? Betrothed. Oh, the "age-gap is too big? She'll be past child-bearing years?" Aegon was visiting brothels daily when he brought Aemond at 13. And Rhaenyra was still having kids when Viserys died and she was 33. Speaking of, when Viserys finally dies, Rhaenyra is 32-33(roughly for both) and Aegon is 18(show) or 22(book). Their kids are similar ages.

It's Medieval Times. They ride Dragons and fuck family with no repercussions.

I love to look to the two Ruler candidates( Aegon and Rhaenyra) posters next to each other.

Rhaenyra looks so regal and confident with her crown on her head. She wants to be the Queen and she's not afraid to show it

Meanwhile, her younger brother Aegon sits lazily on the Iron Throne and he doesn't even wear his crown. It looks like he would rather be anywhere else, and it's probably true considering that his mother and grandfather forced him on this role.

The anti parallels between three two siblings are so interesting!!

Preface

Aegon was drunk, as usual, and wandering the halls and hidden passages of the Red Keep as he made his way to his chambers. As he stepped out, he heard Otto saying his name and he tried to hide as to avoid a scolding of his Grandsire, he was about to come out, but Otto keep talking. He wanted to install him on the Iron Throne and get rid of Rhaenyra.

Rhaenyra he thought.

The last time he had seen his sister was on the matter of Lucery's succession of the Driftmark throne and Rhaenyra had been ruthless while defending her son. She had become a widow not long ago, after the dead of Ser Laenor and everybody knew her children were bastards, but she love them nevertheless.

Aegon remembered Rhaenyra and Lucerys and how much he had wished to exchange bodies with the boy to receive her soft touch and her smile. The way she oozed love, unconditional, fervent, pure love. He wandered if he could ever be on the receiving end of such a thing. If Rahenyra could love bastards, perhaps she could love him too. Suddenly a drunk idea polluted his thoughts, he wanted her, he wanted to be loved unconditionally and was it not a rule of the Targaryens to marry their kin?.

He remained hidden and stood near the window as the sun rose, he wanted love and he knew how to get it.

Hold up, what would be Aegon II's polícies and reign AFTER he took the throne? Does he, Alicent or Otto tought of something or where they just going to arrive there and be like "Fuck it we ball" after that?

I mean, with Rhaenyra we can assume that would be a social change in the view that Westeros had in the succecion laws. More daughters would take the Queen as example and would wish to inhereit lands and titles. But what would change with Aegon as king in peace times?

Family Line

Rhaenyra stood with her hands clasped tightly behind her back, facing the stone doors that guarded the Red Keep's entrance hall as she turned the wedding ring on her left hand round and round with the thumb and forefinger of her right. Her half siblings would walk through those doors any moment, returned to their family home for the first time in the year and a half since she'd petitioned for Aegon and Helaena to be awarded Dragonstone for their seat to start a new branch of House Targaryen; the latest and strongest thread in the web the Crown Princess had been weaving in the decade since she was appointed her father's Hand to ensure neither their House nor the Realm suffered to see the ascension their King-Father had planned. An edict that had now been in place only about eight moons short of thirty years. Under fairer, happier circumstances, Rhaenyra would have liked to greet all her siblings with hugs, a show of political good faith, of course, but at it's heart a demonstration of personal sincerity she had always been far better at conveying through touch than words. It would have been a way to show her gratitude for Aegon, Helaena, and indeed their whole family's willingness to participate in her continued pursuit of of as peaceful a transition of power as any of them could hope for their Kingdom's first ruling Queen.

These are not the light hearted circumstances she'd wished for the Prince and Princess of Dragonstone's first return to court, not a wedding, a nameday, or any other celebration she'd dared to hope would greet them after leaving for the island whose magic seemed to bring a piece of her back to life all those years ago. They were here because, after ten years of surgeries and constant treatments for the King's continuously failing health, their father was well and truly dying; by all accounts faced with less than a moon to live. The whole of their House had been summoned to attend Viserys, and quickly after that became unnecessary, to attend Rhaenyra's own coronation. It's hardly the kind of occasion that calls for hugs, at least, when the man dying is the King. Some within the Court had even urged her to greet the younger royals with handcuffs, though the suggestion was quickly brushed aside as ludicrous even by her infamously short-fused husband Prince Daemon. Aegon had no wish to rule, Rhaenyra had been training for it since she was a child, and she thought...she hoped they shared an appreciation for the other's willingness to take on a role neither had been expected to shoulder at birth. Especially now all there's left to was walk this long and lonely line of mourning before they might finally live out their own lives and legacies.

Rhaenyra's finally startled out of her ring-twisting when the stone doors opened with a slam, composing her face into a small smile that supplemented an empathetic gaze before she called, "Dear brother! I'd hoped to greet you all at the gate, forgive me, I'm afraid my list of tasks has grown rather endless in these past days. How are you all faring?"

“Aegon the realm’s delight” is the saddest line ever. Aegon wants to be a daughter so bad. To be coddled and gazed upon with love and affection rather than distain and fear. Rhaenyra wishes to be a son. She wants the loyalty everyone has to be unwavering. She wants to be feared and respected like a man. They are truly two sides of the same coin.

Rhaenyra was not prepared to be Queen regent at all. And neither was Aegon.

Viserys was too worried doing court affairs and balancing all the matters to not anger neither his daughter or alicent that he forgot to give her lessons about how to be a proper regent. The most education about that was her being the cupbearer of her father. And Alicent was too worried cementing Aegon as heir in the court of king's landing that she forgot to teach him everything about being a good regent (to the point he was whoring around king's landing, drinking and raping women). Unfourtunately, we don't know how their reigns out of war would had gone, but overall, yeah, neither of them was prepared to be regents.

Also, i think that both parts of the war were put in a more positive light.
