We have truly come full circle. This is how we win.

One night in a blur of days, Kylo Ren shifted uneasily in his bed, tossing and turning. He rolled to his side, and his large arm bumped into a form.

A sigh and a soft snore.

He flinched awake. He was still in his quarters, but he was not alone.

It was her. It was Rey. She slept on her side, no blanket. Wherever she was, it must have been warm enough that she didn't need it.

She was dressed simply: her off-white sleeveless shirt, her calf length pants. She was barefoot, her belt and torso scarf elsewhere, beyond his sight.

A breeze gently blew her hair from where she lay. It wasn't from the stale air of his chambers: she must have been outside or somewhere similar.

Not for the first time, Kylo wondered to himself why the Force was connecting them, especially when they were sleeping. Well, while she was sleeping. Kylo never rested soundly enough to sleep properly.

Or perhaps he was sleeping, and this was all a dream...

In working on this, I spent a lot of time looking at mid-century pulp fiction covers by illustrators like Robert McGinnis: I wanted to capture the color and feeling of the nightclub Rey worked in, but also the tension that defines a lot of those covers. I hope I succeeded!

And I wanted to play with canon - Rey's white dress is both a nod to early '60s fashion (albeit a little too low cut, but she is a nightclub singer!) while also being a nod to canon. Similarly, Ben's in black and lingering in the darkness.

Ben kicks the door shut behind us, and oh my God, the thrill this gives me is a little embarrassing, to be honest. I’ve never really been the type to go for the whole throws-you-over-the-shoulder strong-man thing, but fuck. Whatever this is, it’s really doing it for me, let me tell you. I’m pleasantly surprised when I feel my feet touch the floor rather than my back hit the bed. It took some time to get here, but it finally feels like we’re on the same page with what we want. More. Progress. A continuation. But we don’t want this to be over. Not any time soon.

Rey woke up, lying in the middle of a circular white room, her hands bound behind her with electronic metal cuffs of some kind.

Eying the room, she noticed her captor, Supreme Leader Kylo Ren, standing beside his reforged helmet, mounted atop an obsidian pillar, an expression of amusement coloring his usually hard, scowling face.

"Do you think these cuffs are enough to contain me for long?" Rey asked, standing up before Kylo in a gesture of defiance.

"Of course not. But long enough for me to get what I want," Kylo replied, striding away from his helmet mount to pace around Rey, casually casting aside his cape and gloves.

Rey's eyes followed him as he paced around her. "You know I'm not going to tell you anything about the Resistance."

"I finally have you in my grasp and you think I'm worried about the Resistance?" Kylo asked, ceasing his pacing around her to stop at her back, wrapping his arms around her middle, nuzzling her neck.

"Oh.. is that what you want?" Rey asked, tilting her head aside so he could kiss her trapezius and exposed collarbone. "Did you place these cuffs on me so I wouldn't fight back as you had your way with me?"

Kylo grabbed her by her elbow, spinning her around to face him, pulling her close so that her face was inches from his.

"Hmm...I know you well enough to know that no one can ever get you to do something you didn't want to do," Kylo whispered into her mouth with his deep, velvety voice.

"I didn't want to be captured," Rey whispered back, her lips brushing against his.

"But you do want this..."
