Rey watched, unseen, as Ben stood on the pier. And then, he'd done it. Thrown the last vestiges of his old life into the water. And with it, the fears and doubts that had plagued her for so long. Her heart overflowed, and she ran to him...

I've gotten a lot done on my older WIPs, I thought I'd treat myself to sketching some sweet reylo kisses for Valentine's Day!

Everything was flawless: the dress, the flowers, the church, the ceremony, the dinner with good friends at their favorite restaurant afterward.

But, but...

And then, suddenly, the sky filled with snow, and Rey was in Ben's arms.

The world between worlds was calling to me for this one even before Ashoka, but I knew I had to go there after.

In working on this, I spent a lot of time looking at mid-century pulp fiction covers by illustrators like Robert McGinnis: I wanted to capture the color and feeling of the nightclub Rey worked in, but also the tension that defines a lot of those covers. I hope I succeeded!

And I wanted to play with canon - Rey's white dress is both a nod to early '60s fashion (albeit a little too low cut, but she is a nightclub singer!) while also being a nod to canon. Similarly, Ben's in black and lingering in the darkness.
