Beneath a Jakku Sunset
The sun dipped toward the horizon, a molten sphere dissolving into the endless expanse of sand and wreckage. The oppressive heat of the day waned, replaced by a creeping chill that settled over the dunes like a hushed promise of relief. It was the hour when Jakku softened, its harshness momentarily tempered by the tender hues of twilight.
Perched atop the corroded wing of a long-abandoned starship, Rey and Sunny let their legs dangle, the metal beneath them radiating the last vestiges of the day's heat. The occasional brush of their shoulders went unacknowledged—not out of discomfort, but out of an understanding so innate that words were unnecessary. Silence stretched between them, easy and unburdened.
Rey glanced at Sunny, absently brushing a handful of sand from her palm. "You don’t have to go home yet. You could stay."
Sunny turned slightly, an eyebrow arching. "Stay?"
Rey shrugged, but there was something deliberate in her casualness. "If you want to."
A pause, a moment where the desert wind filled the space between them. Then, Sunny nodded. "Yeah. Okay."
A flicker of a smile ghosted across Rey’s lips—small, fleeting, but real. She tilted her head toward the horizon, where the sky had begun its slow transformation, streaked with molten amber, rose, and violet. "The sunset’s better from here anyway."
"I’ll take your word for it," Sunny murmured, shifting slightly. Her arm grazed Rey’s before she hesitated, then let her head rest lightly against Rey’s shoulder. A slow exhale escaped her, the weight of the day settling into her bones.
Rey tensed—just for a moment—but then she allowed herself to lean, just slightly, into the warmth beside her.
Dreams of Elsewhere
"Do you ever think about leaving?" Sunny asked, her voice hushed, as though speaking too loudly might fracture the fragile beauty of the moment. Her gaze was locked on the sky, where the last sliver of sun burned low in molten gold and deep crimson. "Getting off Jakku?"
"Every day," Rey admitted, the words slipping out unguarded. "But it’s not that simple."
"Why not?" Sunny lifted her head just enough to study Rey’s face. "There’s nothing here for us. There never has been. You know that."
Rey’s fingers curled into the fabric of her sleeve. "What if—what if my family comes back? What if I leave and they—?"
Sunny sighed—not impatient, not dismissive, just understanding. "I get it. I do. But Rey, how much longer are you going to wait?"
Rey pressed her lips together. "I don’t know."
The silence that followed wasn’t empty. It was weighty, stretched between them like the desert itself—vast, endless, full of unspoken things neither had the answers to.
Sunny let her head rest against Rey’s shoulder again. "I think about it too, you know. Leaving. Finding somewhere with real water. Trees. A place where the wind carries something other than sand and forgotten stories."
Rey swallowed. "Maybe one day."
Sunny’s lips curled into a small, knowing smile. "Maybe I’ll be the one to drag you off this rock."
Rey huffed a quiet laugh. "I’d like to see you try."
"Don’t tempt me," Sunny said, a teasing lilt in her voice.
What Home Could Be
The sun slipped below the horizon, leaving the sky a tapestry of indigo and violet, the first stars winking into existence. The night loomed ahead—vast, unknowable—but for now, they remained suspended in this quiet space between past and future, between longing and waiting.
Sunny broke the silence first. "Do you think it’ll ever feel like home? Anywhere else, I mean."
Rey hesitated, considering. "I don’t know. Jakku’s never felt like home, not really. But I don’t know what else would."
Sunny drew her knees up slightly, thoughtful. "I think home isn’t a place. It’s—" she exhaled, searching for the right words. "It’s somewhere you feel safe. Somewhere you can stop waiting and start living."
Rey tilted her head, turning the thought over in her mind. "And you think we’ll find that?"
"I think we have to try." Sunny nudged Rey’s foot lightly with her own. "Besides, you’re not the only one looking for something."
A long moment passed before Rey spoke again. "If we leave—when we leave—where would you want to go first?"
Sunny grinned, the expression evident even in the dimming light. "Somewhere green. I want to see real grass, not just the brittle stuff that barely survives here. And oceans. Imagine how strange that must be—water stretching farther than the eye can see."
Rey let out a quiet chuckle. "You sound like you’ve thought about this a lot."
"Of course I have." Sunny turned her gaze back to the stars. "You can’t live in a place like this and not dream of somewhere else."
Rey nodded, letting that truth settle between them. The stars thickened above them, scattered pinpricks of light against the deepening night sky. They sat together, close, the desert wind carrying the scent of sand and rust, the air cooling as darkness took hold.
Sunny sighed contentedly, pressing a little closer. "Maybe home is just wherever we end up. As long as we’re not alone."
Rey didn’t answer right away, but she didn’t pull away either. Instead, she let the words linger, let the idea settle into the spaces between them. Finally, she spoke, voice quiet but certain. "Maybe you’re right."

Flashlight technology keeps getting brighter, and the lights are more affordable. I love carrying pocket-sized lights that are easy to conceal and have plenty of lumens. Carry lights must be rugged; added features are icing on the cake. I recently got to test out the ReyLight X Vosteed Rook Flashlight; this thing is a beast! (more…) “”

Aaa clicky flashlight

#AAA CLICKY FLASHLIGHT PORTABLE#
Press the button during the four blinks or during the strobe after to change the mode order from Low Medium High to High Medium Low. 4 blinks: mode order toggle (default LMH). Press the button during the three blinks or during the strobe after to turn moonlight off. 3 blinks: moonlight mode off-on toggle (default on). Press the button during the two blinks or during the strobe after to turn mode memory on. 2 blinks: mode memory on-off toggle (default off). Press the button during any blink to select that mode group. The light will now blink once, then strobe, blink twice, then strobe, blink three times, then strobe…After 5 blinks and a strobe, the sequence repeats.
No, this is not necessary with a reverse-clicky switch.Ģ.
Yes, but only if you select them in the programmable menu.
8 half-presses from on brings you to the configuration menu. You can turn this on/off in the hidden programmable settings.
Half-press: Cycle through the menu from Low to High.
Single-click: Low (but mode memory can be turned on).
It’s even possible to select a mode group that includes Strobe and SOS Available modes: See for the explanation at the bottom of this paragraph. But if you want to use a different user interface, you can choose between 4. I normally don’t see extra pocket clips shipped with the package, but Reylight did.īy default, it comes with a 4-mode group. Mine arrived in a simple plastic case with some spare o-rings and spare pocket clips. It was not sent to be reviewed, but I wanted to share it with all our readers because Reylight flashlights are special! Package quality. I am glad to say that Rey is a friend of mine, and the Reylight MINI Pineapple was actually a gift. You better order when they are available before you miss out! His flashlights are highly regarded. Reylight’s audience consists mostly of avid flashoholics, and his stock is usually in short supply. The one I’m reviewing is the stonewashed Titanium version. Now, more than 8 years later, Rey has his own lineup of flashlights, including the Reylight Pineapple Mini, which is available in several materials, including brass, titanium, and timascus. The earliest I remember was the BLF Mini, an existing flashlight with BLF engravement and a specific LED. Truly the “I don’t have room” argument is undone by this flashlight.Reylight’s history goes back to roughly 2012 when Rey was one of the first to build BLF special edition flashlights. And it produces an impressive 100 lumens. In fact, it can literally survive being run over. But it’s also waterproof, fireproof, and crushproof. For starters, it’s so small (about the size of the tip of a finger) you might just forget that you have it on your keychain - until you need, that is. Now in its 3rd generation, the Slughaus Bull3t is remarkable for a number of reasons. That’s where we come in we’ve rounded up what we believe to be the 15 best EDC flashlights around on the following guide. Of course, even if you narrow down the choices with strict scrutiny, there are still a ton of flashlights on that list. In regards to EDC, there are a few things you want to look for: pocketability, durability, reliability, and how many lumens a flashlight can produce (around 50 is normally enough for simple tasks, but more is better if you dabble in the outdoors). However, just as they boast a huge number of uses, there are also literally hundreds of different options available for purchase.
#AAA CLICKY FLASHLIGHT PORTABLE#
From things as simple as helping you look between the cracks of your car seat or under your desk for wayward change all the way up to producing illumination for you when the power goes out in the middle of the night, portable torches are remarkably useful. Even the reasons that place them squarely in the “in case of emergency” column are enough to warrant adding one to your everyday carry loadout. There are legions of reasons that every EDC enthusiast should be carrying a flashlight.
