Just finished watching season 1 with my sister (non-stop with a short break for dinner with my mom and one! bathroom break) and omg she liked it! Simon and Wilhelm are now her little sad Nordic gays lmao
She thinks Omar is gorgeous and has a bone structure to die for but is completely mesmerized by Edvin's nose and his sad eyes. And she's a sucker for sad eyes lol She almost never cries with TV but teared up right along with Wille in the end.
She thought Wille was cool and then a loser and Simon was cool, then a nerd and then a loser for falling for Wille's loser behaviour. They're cute losers though.
What else? Ohh she hated August on sight BUT the most hilarious part is that she knew this was a queer story between Wille and Simon but she thought Erik was also gay and closeted lol She has been lamenting her apparently broken gaydar now "it was the turtleneck, okay!" LMAO And she is never going to forgive him for going and get killed and leave poor Wille alone.
She wants August, Vincent and Nils to go die in a fire and basically hates everyone at Forest Ridge LMAO
OHH she can't believe Sara kept who uploaded the video from Simon there at the end and is absolutely sure she's going to tell him as soon as S2 starts 😬 She said no spoilers so I'm not saying anything but it's hard!!
All in all she really liked it, it's nothing like she thought it would be, it's blown away by wilmon's acting and their chemistry and by the quality of the story, since it's not the typical kind of queer representation we often see on TV.
It's almost 3am and we're going to start with season 2 now!
And I feel like I'm going to fall asleep any minute 🤣
Edited to add she also said Stella was one of her people, she's a lesbian, but I haven't told her her gaydar isn't completely broken yet, she's gonna be so smug haha

On today's episode of Edvin Ryding is the only one seeing the pearly gates, rewatching yr in the background in Swedish and I catch 10:15 so of course I actually start watching, because of course Edvin Ryding is casting spells, waxing the sweetest poetry with his majestic everything actually, every second is just glorious and sweet, the finest details, the delivery, the physiognomy and physicality, the hold back and let go applied as needed, the tension and flow, the intensity and largesse, the rawness and realness and I'm just taken, so again of course I keep watching because I'm entranced by the deliciousness of it all, and then it's 16:40 and I see something else that makes his acting so very exceptionally special and poignant - it's that he's in the moment and in pocket, and the fact that you could read the energy of where and what would happen in his screen partner's next line before it arrives makes his own ability to be in perfect tune with the moment more pronounced. You couldn't tell from Wille's face or stance or any form whatsoever what the next moment or emotional reaction would be before it arrives, not even a nano second before it happens.
I just hope I'm able to express what I'm saying correctly. When he says he's spoke to his mother and she accepts him, he fully believes that and his entirety is hopeful in that, and just that, like he would if he were saying that for the first time in his life, because he is, because he's Wille who isn't reading off a script or knows what happens next, just Wille who just told his love interest, that his mother who was previously opposed to their relationship, accepts him, and then it pans to the other actor, and the but is not just a but of someone who knows those people, especially Wille and his mother cannot be trusted, it's of someone who is already experiencing the end of the scene. "He's gone through the bullshit with them before, and already had a made up, final ready made answer", maybe, but the delivery is ever so contaminated and burdened with such rigidity, distance, thought and foreknowledge of this particular instance and he has that anticipatory energy of working from the future and bringing that visible separatedness from his character for the most part of his screen time through the series. That's why Edvin's revelatory energy, his nowness and freshness and taking the audience for a ride in all immediacy and introducing us to every second as if it's also all being introduced to him anew in that moment, the element of surpriseness of it all, extremely refreshing and satisfying in every of his performances. One of the many reasons mind you.
Tl-dr I've watched yr many times and it's almost as new as the first time with Edvin Ryding's performances, I almost still get shocked about what is happening with his character, upping his rewatch value through the roof, because Edvin Ryding is masterful at making it so, whereas with others they already carry and usher a disconnected and double (them as a person reading and thinking their lines and course of action for the character) energy with them that you can already tell and perceive, which makes their scenes stale and uneventful. That's why we should give Edvin multiple EGOT because he is the G.O.A.T

I was rewatching the show from the beginning since S3 is upon ye, and I think this is probably said before but when Wilhelm watches Simon sing for the first time, I can't help but thinking about that look of intrigue on Wilhelm's face when Vincent bullies Simon and Simon defies his rudeness by singing louder. He does not expect Simon to sing louder. He expected a rather subdued reaction from him, because since we pressed play on that episode, Wilhelm is having a subdued reaction to everything around him. He is not allowed to react to anything at all, in fact he is being punished for having a reaction in the first place.
But then he sees this boy being dismissed as a laughing stock for no reason in front of so many people, and he sings louder. Simon does exactly what Vincent says, but he is not entertaining any back-handed mockery from that guy. And Wilhelm notices that. And he is probably thinking about how badass that is, and how beautifully he sings while he turns it all in his favor like a rebel. And for the first time, Wilhelm smiles. He enjoys this little act of defiance, a picture perfect moment. In the spark of a moment, he showed Wilhelm how he can actually see the world, not how he is expected to do.

No wonder he fell in love with Simon in the end.

Let me tell you how - as clumsy and awkward as it was - Wille's first conversation with Simon went like it was specifically designed to make Simon fall for him. Like straight to the heart and deadly. Non-survivable event.
Simon is eating alone, no-one's sitting next to him to his right, to his left and in front of him, like people are at best not acknowledging him and at worst actively avoiding him, which they probably are. Wille comes in, sees him and purposefully seeks him out. He wants to sit close to him and talk to him. This is new to Simon and not at all something he'd have expected from "Ers Majestät".
W: "[you don't belong with Forest Ridge] but you're eating with us?" S: "We non-residents have to eat somewhere". Oh, you know Simon was just waiting to sink his teeth into Wille (metaphorically ...for now) and he savors Wille's faux-pas. You can just tell how much he enjoys delivering that comeback.
Wille's counterattack? Deadly. He introduces himself. He's like "I haven't introduced myself, I'm Wilhelm." He's humble, he doesn't assume people know him just because he's a member of the royal family and had a whole welcome party organized just for him like, yesterday. He's just a newcomer and his name is Wilhelm.
"I liked what you said in there, Simon." Simon had the whole class against him right then, teacher included, but Wille appreciates his opinion, he likes that Simon spoke up, even and especially against him. Bonus point, he adds Simon's name at the end of the compliment, because it matters. See, we know Wille was being sincere but Simon regains his footing here because this could potentially sound like a dig, and he's prepared for those so he remarks along the lines of "Oh yeah? So why didn't you say anything?", which brings us to:
"I'm not allowed to talk politics." And it's the way Wille says this, hesitantly, like he's painfully aware of the hypocrisy and he's ashamed of it. It rearranges Simon's view of him because it seems like Wille knows he's part of a bullshit establishment and he's not blissfully partaking of its privileges with no awareness or care. Wille is very much not like Simon had imagined he would be.
And then! Wille goes to leave and he almost drops his fork. Final dart, straight to the heart, Simon's fate is sealed: this guy's goofy.
Tumblr media
And that, my friends, is how you go from Simon's mortal enemy to Simon's crush in the span of less than 2 minutes.

“Don’t Kiss Felice if all you wanted was to kiss Simon, omg don’t be an asshole Wille! IM BEGGING YOUU”
I will be replacing these with my friends and their crushes names and quoting this religiously
Hahahaha omg yesssss please do it!! and you can do it in Spanish, for learning reasons! 🤣🤣 since she was actually screaming
"NO LO HAGAS WILLE, NO BESES A FELICE SI QUERÍAS BESAR A SIMON! NO SEAS IDIOTA (it was actually a curse word we use in Chile lol) WILLE! TE LO RUEEEEEGOOOO!" all this while clutching a poor pillow to death lmao

Something something about Simon always making sure Wille knew that it wasn't because of him that Simon ended things. That it wasn't their relationship, that it simply was everything else
When Wille said "I thought it would be us" and Simon replied "It has been us. And when it was us, it was good" at the lake
Or how he didn't respond when Wille asked how Simon could be over him, just like that
Or when Simon told him "I never gave up on us. I gave up on the royal family" during graduation/the closing ceremony
How there was an "I still love you" in every sentence, in every word
Even when he broke up with Wille. "maybe this just won't work" wasn't about them, it was about Simon and the crown and him realizing he could never be part of that.
It was never about Wille, and Simon never let him forget that.

okay but there's something really satisfying about them giving wilhelm that type of flip phone to slam shut whenever he's mad at who's calling. rip wilhelm you would've loved the flip phones of the 2000s.
