Felizmente, diversas empresas da China se uniram para adotar novidades tecnológicas que ainda não apareceram nos celulares da Apple e da Samsung, como leitor de digitais sob a tela e bordas sem entalhe.

Os smartphones (e o iPad) deram uma prévia do desempenho que veremos no futuro em notebooks, aliado a uma duração maior da bateria. E os wearables, ainda que menos populares, vêm avan��ando em cuidar da nossa saúde — alguns a preços mais acessíveis que outros.

Confira abaixo os principais destaques de gadgets para o ano que passou. Este especial faz parte das retrospectivas de 2018 feitas pelo Tecnoblog!

Notch, entalhe, furo e chifre nas telas

LG G7 ThinQ

O notch se tornou uma tendência mais difícil de evitar em 2018. Após o sucesso do iPhone X (lançado no ano passado), fabricantes como Asus, Motorola, LG e Huawei decidiram entrar na onda.

O entalhe é um meio-termo de design: as empresas querem aumentar o aproveitamento da tela, mas não querem retirar a câmera frontal. O primeiro celular a fazer isso foi o Essential Phone; depois, veio a Apple e seu iPhone X. Então tivemos aparelhos como o Asus Zenfone 5, LG G7 ThinQ, OnePlus 6T, Xiaomi Mi 8, Huawei P20 Pro, Motorola One, Nokia 6.1 Plus (Nokia X6), entre muitos outros.

Tivemos notches de diversos tamanhos. O iPhone precisa de mais espaço para os sensores TrueDepth do Face ID. Outras fabricantes, como Asus e OnePlus, colocam apenas uma câmera frontal e o alto-falante. Enquanto isso, o Google aposta em uma câmera frontal dupla no Pixel 3 XL que requer um entalhe bem alto.

A Samsung é uma das fabricantes que evitou o notch até os últimos momentos do ano. Seus principais celulares — o Galaxy S9 e o Galaxy Note 9 — mantêm o display infinito das gerações anteriores. A empresa até zoou o Google por causa do entalhe no Pixel 3 XL. No entanto, o Galaxy A8s traz um notch circular, e a coreana prepara aparelhos com entalhes Infinity-U, Infinity-O e Infinity-V para o ano que vem.

Inovação made in China

Vivo NEX

Há como adotar uma tela sem bordas e ao mesmo tempo evitar o notch, mas isso coube às fabricantes chinesas.

A Vivo (sem relação com a operadora) apresentou em fevereiro um conceito futurista chamado Apex FullView: o display ocupava quase toda a parte frontal, e a câmera para selfies era retrátil. Pouco tempo depois, já estávamos vivendo nesse futuro: a empresa lançou o Vivo NEX, em que a tela funcionava como alto-falante e incluía um leitor de digitais.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3

O Oppo Find X, por sua vez, possui um mecanismo retrátil que mostra as câmeras frontal e traseira. O Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 e o Huawei Honor Magic 2 adotam uma solução semelhante: a traseira inteira é deslizante, revelando as câmeras frontais quando necessário.

A Vivo resolveu ir ainda mais longe: o NEX 2 (Dual Display Edition) possui uma tela secundária na traseira que permite usar a câmera tripla para tirar selfies. Cada um dos dois displays possui um leitor de digitais sob a tela.

Inclusive, a Vivo foi a primeira fabricante a adotar o leitor de digitais sob a tela (no X20 Plus UD). Desde então, vimos esse recurso no OnePlus 6T, Meizu 16, Oppo R17 Pro, entre outros. Rumores dizem que isso deve chegar ao Galaxy S10 em 2019.

Câmeras triplas e quádruplas

Huawei P20 Pro

A Huawei lançou este ano o primeiro smartphone com câmera tripla. O P20 Pro, que tem um sensor de 40 megapixels, segue firme no topo do ranking do DxoMark — deixando para trás o iPhone XS Max e Galaxy Note 9.

Claro, mais câmeras não significam necessariamente maior qualidade de imagem. O Pixel 3 tem apenas um sensor na traseira e aparece no top 10, assim como o iPhone XR.

Isso não impediu as fabricantes de adotarem múltiplas câmeras na traseira, incluindo topos de linha como o LG V40 ThinQ e o Vivo NEX 2, além de intermediários como o Samsung Galaxy A7. O Honor Magic 2 vai mais além: ele possui câmera tripla atrás e na frente.

E há espaço para mais sensores. O Samsung Galaxy A9 é o primeiro celular com quatro câmeras na traseira; a Nokia prepara um aparelho com cinco câmeras; e a LG patenteou uma câmera de celular com 16 lentes. É algo que pode funcionar em termos de marketing, mas não substitui as otimizações de software que vemos do Google e da Apple.

Processador móvel com desempenho de notebook

Para ser sincero, os notebooks de 2018 não me impressionaram no geral. Eu fiquei mais empolgado com uma promessa para o futuro: laptops que usarão processadores móveis, oferecendo o mesmo desempenho com maior duração de bateria.

iPad Pro

Isso ficou bem evidente com o lançamento do novo iPad Pro. O A12X Bionic é tão poderoso que ultrapassa o Intel Core i7 em aplicações reais, como renderizar um vídeo 4K. Ele ganha até mesmo do MacBook Pro!

Este ano, diversos rumores apontaram que a Apple terá um Mac com processador próprio em 2020. A Qualcomm está se preparando para a concorrência: o Snapdragon 8cx será o primeiro chip de 7 nanômetros para PCs, prometendo alto desempenho e autonomia de 25 horas.

Você ficou empolgado com algum laptop este ano? A maioria das atualizações foi iterativa — um processador ligeiramente mais rápido, um ajuste aqui e ali no design — sem novidades substanciais.

MacBook Air

A Apple lançou um novo MacBook Air com tela Retina, mas já existiam diversos outros laptops finos no mercado com display de alta resolução e leitor de digitais. O MacBook Pro com Core i9 tem altíssimo desempenho (após uma correção de software) a um preço igualmente alto.

Vimos algumas inovações em notebooks, mas nem todas deram certo. Por exemplo, o Lenovo Yoga Book possui duas telas, uma LCD e outra e-ink para o teclado: é difícil usar as teclas, mesmo com feedback tátil através de vibração e som, e o desempenho é fraco. A Huawei colocou a webcam no teclado do Matebook X Pro para manter a tela com bordas finas; o ângulo da câmera é ruim.

Asus ZenBook Pro com ScreenPad

Uma das exceções é o Asus ZenBook Pro com ScreenPad. Ele possui uma tela no lugar do touchpad, e o que parecia ser apenas um truque de marketing na verdade funciona bem, segundo reviews. É possível usar atalhos para abrir programas, usar uma calculadora, digitar em um teclado numérico, acessar recursos do Office (Word, Excel e PowerPoint), entre outros.

Apple e Xiaomi reforçam domínio em wearables

Apple Watch Series 4

Os wearables nunca fizeram tanto sucesso quanto os smartphones, mas as vendas de pulseiras fitness e smartwatches continuam crescendo.

Apple e Xiaomi disputam o primeiro lugar no ranking de vendas a cada trimestre. O Watch Series 4 ganhou uma tela com bordas menores e novos recursos de saúde: ele detecta o nível de oxigênio no sangue do usuário e consegue realizar um eletrocardiograma direto no pulso.

Enquanto isso, a Xiaomi aposta em modelos mais baratos com grande autonomia. A Mi Band 3 é uma pulseira fitness de US$ 26 com bateria de 20 dias. O Amazfit Bip tem bateria de 30 dias (ou mais) por US$ 100. O Amazfit Stratos (Amazfit 2) tem recursos de saúde como VO2 max (capacidade aeróbica) e carga de treinamento custando US$ 200.

A Fitbit se esforça para manter relevância: ela lançou o Versa este ano para concorrer com o Apple Watch, e conseguiu se manter no terceiro lugar em vendas. A Huawei e a Samsung vêm logo atrás. Este ano, a coreana lançou o Galaxy Watch com Tizen.

E o Wear OS, antes conhecido como Android Wear? Ele continua sendo ignorado pelas grandes fabricantes, e ainda enfrenta dificuldades. O sistema chegou à versão 2.0 com diversas melhorias, mas ainda é lento ao abrir aplicativos. A Qualcomm lançou o processador Snapdragon Wear 3100, mais rápido, mas poucas empresas o adotaram. Rumores diziam que o Google lançaria um smartwatch Pixel este ano, o que não aconteceu.

Meizu C9 with Full View Display, Machine Learning Technology arrives!

Meizu C9 has been unveiled in Indonesia as the latest budget-friendly smartphone from Meizu. The device sports the trendy full view display and is equipped with machine learning technology, thanks to the new SC9832E chipset which was introduced months ago. The Meizu C9 will be in direct competition with the Redmi 6A and Yu Ace. This is coming just days after Meizu unveiled the Note 8 as well.

Design

The device has a Polycarbonate back and a metal frame. There's no fingerprint scanner at the back, you have to depend on the Face Unlock feature it comes with to access the phone. It measures 9.7mm in thickness, weighs 150g and will be available Blue and Black colors only.

Display

The C9 sports a 5.45-inch HD+ IGZO full view display from Sharp. The screen boasts of 720 x 1440 pixels in resolution along with a 295 pixel per inch density for clear visuals. Overall, the screen stretches up to 73.87% screen-to-body as well.

Software and Hardware

It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with FlyMe 7.0. Under the hood, the SC9832E chipset with machine learning from Spreadtrum runs the race, it comes with 4-cores of processor clocking at 1.3GHz for a smooth ride. The ARM Mali-400 MP2 graphics card handles graphics. For storing files, the device packs 16GB internal storage space which is expandable up to 128GB using a memory card. It boasts of 2GB RAM space for multitasking through apps.

Camera

The Meizu C9 features a 13MP rear camera for photography. The camera is accompanied by a LED flash and other internal features listed in the table below. In the selfie department, there's an 8MP selfie shooter for all your selfies as well.

Battery

Powering up the C9 is a 3000mAh battery capacity but with no fast charging technology. Without the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% might take up to 2.7 hours.
