Okay, I had been skeptical of the advice to save Coffee With the Crows for after the Treviso choice because it feels like an early game type of quest.
But the added/new dialogue you get is so much fun. Not just Lucanis shopping for Emmrich, Tash, and Davrin Assan, but you get more details about his life before than you do if you take the quest early.

So.. The blood dragon armor essentially stays in my inventory for the entirety of origins because my HOF is a rogue (I can't live without lockpicking), and I pre-ordered Veilguard because I am an obsessive little goblin with hundreds of hours in the franchise. (NOTE: I haven't actually been able to play DATV because my PC crashes every time I get out of character creator.)
My Rook is a warden and a warrior class; whom I headcannon as having been mentored by the Hero of Ferelden.
I've decided their name is Revenant because when they came out as nonbinary, my HOF took them to their private quarters at the peak and helped them pick a name. When she asked Rook what they wanted their new name to be, they didn't know. So she asked what they envisioned themself as when they fight.
The real answer was always the warden commander herself.. But Rev couldn't say that. So instead, they envisioned the most devastating being they could. One that in an odd way, they admired.
"A revenant"
They remembered the first time they saw one, after coming to the peak.. Rev almost died in that fight after hitching a ride in the wardens caravan when they had been told to stay put. Rook never did listen..
"Well, Rev.. If you're going to fight like a revenant, you better be equipped like one. I've held onto this for years.. A very strong warrior wore this armor once, when I ended the blight. A dear friend of mine, Sten.. I hope you will always wear the crest of the grey wardens, mind you. But this armor is yours now."
Idk, this might be stupid, but I love this idea so much.

Tbh this just makes it more sweet that he decides to shop for the team and poignant that he's clearly treasuring the ability to do so freely.
My Rook de Riva was absolutely (but gently!) like "Oh, we are not on the same pay scale, huh?" though.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard Spoilers!
Lucanis and Emmrich's Dialogue from Emmrich's recruitment:
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
(Poor Lucanis... I may be misreading his tone, but I feel like he sounded hopeful here? The emphasis falls on the "any?"; I would italicize it if transcribing it. I would love to see this bit from his POV and able to hear Spite. )
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
(Note, the way this line is delivered it should be punctuated more like: Talking. To Corpses. With magic.)

My favorite rich person/Crow thing about Lucanis is that he has a "guy" for everything.
"I'll send you my contract negotiator."
"I'll give you the name of my blacksmith".
Etc, etc, etc.

Poor Lucanis. Even the refuge of the kitchen is not safe from Fade nonsense.

Lucanis: So. Talking darkspawn. So this is my life now.

So when you meet Bellara for the first time, she says that "a couple of days ago" the sky split open (aka Solas's ritual).
Rook leaves the Lighthouse pretty quickly after waking; I don't think a full day passes, personally, much less two. To me, that implies that Rook was out cold for the better part of those two days after passing out at the ritual site.
And to be fair, I've read that head wounds bleed a lot. But Rook's hands came away covered in blood in that cuts scene, in addition to them clearly passing in and out of consciousness while Harding is dragging them away.
And yet when they wake Rook isn't sporting any visible injuries, even bruises, and doesn't complain of any lingering pains. Whoever they took to topple the statue looks like a hot mess and is clearly in pain, to the point that Rook and the second companion both worry about them in the field, but no one indicates that Rook should stay back.
YMMV, but I think for me that must mean that the companions must have triaged and ended up using the bulk of whatever healing supplies they had on Rook in an effort to keep them from dying.
Neve has healing magic (if she isn't the one who got battered), the team clearly had some potions on them in Minrathous, but the injured companion is covered in bruises and ends up scarred?
Those resources had to have been spent somewhere. It makes sense if you think about it. Again, lots of blood and two days unconscious. Head injuries can be lethal. And while the other the injured companion also took clear damage to the face and keeps complaining of a headache, implying another possible head injury, we can see them up and moving even during Rook's flashes of consciousness.
So the end result is that Rook is fine, completely recovered even if you don't count Solas being in their head, while their companion ends up with permanent marks.
I think that adds to those guilty options you have in those conversations in the infirmary, individually in the companion's rooms, and looking into Varric's mirror. Rook's first mission in charge and the people with them prioritized saving them, even though it meant someone else went unhealed from the consequences of Rook's decision.

Rook: We've got more demons!
Neve, absolutely dripping with sarcasm: Oh good! This wasn't fun enough.
I love her.

I'm running around with Lucanis and Neve together since I'm in Docktown though, and Lucanis just unequivocally offered to pay for anything the Shadow Dragons need AND to kill all the Venatori he can. Because "It could have been Treviso."
😭 I love him. I love them both. I am currently flirting with both still and idc if it's possible in game, my canon is going to be a poly relationship with Rook, Lucanis, AND Neve.

Poor Davrin is trying so hard to be polite, but his tone is so fucking funny to me. 🥰🥰🥰
(Trust me, Davrin, I get it. My de Riva Rook and I are equally confused.)
I just made a Warden to romance him on my other save file, but now I'm almost torn to romance him with a Mourn Watch Rook. It could potentially be so much fun.
